‘We can’t just leave her out there,’ Lacey whispered, looking up at Dylan. He was physically acting as a barrier, blocking her exit back to the entryway.
‘She has the gun,’ he reminded her, the fear in his eyes something she couldn’t ignore. ‘She’s the best shot we have. She’s gonna be OK.’
‘But what if she isn’t?’ Despite her desire to give in to her typical optimism, Lacey simply couldn’t. Too much had already happened; already they’d had more close calls than the evening probably could handle.
She saw the conflict playing out across her best friend’s face. The desire to help and the utter terror of what they’d already escaped. A moment of believing they were safe, that’s all he desperately wanted, even if guilt gnawed away at him too.
‘Dyl, I have to.’
‘Lace, please,’ he pleaded, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. If it came to it, they both knew he could have kept her in place. But he never really would.
A roar tore through the night. Something hit the floor. And again.
Dylan’s fingers dug into Lacey’s shoulders, but she found she was rooted to the floor anyway. The noise was impossible to ignore. Kaitlyn’s silence somehow made it worse.
‘Oh God,’ Dylan whispered, and Lacey could feel him trembling against her. ‘Oh fuck.’
Lacey forced herself to breathe, to steady herself despite the guilt already tearing at her insides. Already she both regretted not forcing herself away from Dylan, and was grateful that he’d been stubborn enough to stand in the way. It might just have saved their lives.

Hunter's Delight Story Introduction
Lacey’s trips to Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp were always ones she loved. Not only did she get to spend the summer in the great outdoors, but she got to spend it with her old family friends and other councillors she’d met over the years. She’d be the first to admit that after the events six years previously, things had been slightly different, but that wasn’t about to dampen her excitement about it all. At least, not until an extra evening feels like it might be something far more sinister than that as the night progresses.

What I'd like to know is how high Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin themselves were when they decided to give George Dent an accidental ecstasy high and put him on a train with Dave Charnley and a drunk Helen Cooper, then proceed to give him a pineapple to stroke and and told him to lick the tie of the man next to him.

A whole new influx of teenagers is happening in my game currently. It was very much needed since the Pleasantview School had too many children for one class, so some of those kids can now be moved over to high school.

‘Dylan, what the fuck happened?’ Lacey asked, looking at the bandage on his arm. She’d shot a cautionary glance over Ryan, but he seemed completely unharmed.
‘Battle wounds,’ Dylan said, his voice filled with false bravado. ‘Maybe one day you’ll be hero enough – Hey!’
Lacey had pushed his shoulder, shoving him away despite the fear that ate away at her. But, before he could complain at her any further, she’d drawn her childhood friend into a tight hug.
‘Don’t ever scare me like that again,’ she muttered into the material of his shirt.
Dylan carefully folded his arms around her back, and she could hear the others slowly joining them, trying to pry information out of Ryan. ‘Can’t promise anything.’
They weren’t exactly the words she’d hoped to hear, but Lacey was more grateful for the truth than she would have been a lie. There was no telling what else could happen before sunrise. She assumed that was what they needed to wait for. Things like this usually seemed to be.
‘Now what?’ Kaitlyn asked, causing Lacey to pull away from Dylan. He kept an arm gently around her back though, a reminder that they were both still there. That the horrors hiding out in the woods hadn’t yet devoured them.
But Lacey was barely paying attention. Nick was shifting awkwardly beside Abi, attention on her though.

The Narwhal Virus
Recently, my family has been acting a little bit strange. I'll walk into the kitchen and my mom will be on the ground, galumphing this way and that, and then my dad will trot in, spot her, and collapse onto the tiled floor and copy her. I don't know if this is a joke or what, but it's really freaky? I never know what to do in the moment, so I just slowly back away.
My brother, Joel, hasn't been flopping on the floor, but sometimes he'll just bleat out, "aaAARUUSJJSJJ!" at the most random, unnecessary times. It's getting ridiculous. People at school do this too — is this some new meme that I haven't picked up on? Because about 92% of the people I see and talk to will do these things.
Today was probably the strangest. There were, like, two hundred students missing, and the people that still remained were moaning and flopping on the floor like fish even more often. The teachers seemed just as flabbergasted as me, if not more. No one would pay attention in class because they were all too busy spazzing out or screaming at the wall, and many were told to take a trip down the hall to the principle's office — but of course, no one complied. They only sat there blankly and bleated out a soft, "Blllfghpt!"
I take the bus home, gazing out the window distractedly. What the heck was happening to everyone? It was absurd and random; these things had started happening only a month ago. The bus chugs to a stop in front of my home, and I step down and amble to the door solemnly, shoving the key into the door.
I call out, "I'm home!" and do my normal routine of setting my backpack down in my room, slipping off my shoes and flinging them across the room, then heading to the kitchen to grab a snack. I walk into the kitchen, and lo and behold, what I see is the most absurd, horrifying, and appalling thing I've glimpsed in my entire fifteen years of life.
There on the floor, twitching and blubbering about, is a giant, fat, gray creature groaning soberly. And . . . it was dressed in my father's work clothes.
Stumbling back and fumbling for a hold on the counter, I screech and tumble to the ground in terror. The creature waves its long horn-like thing at me, blinking its watery eyes. Then I realize that the horn-like thing is a "tooth," and that the giant, fat, gray creature is a narwhal. A narwhal in my father's attire.
". . .Dad? Is that you?"
I get no response other than the narwhal inching closer to me as fast as it can — which is not very fast. But at least it's trying. I scooch away, still in shock from finding a narwhal in my kitchen.
I wonder suddenly how this would go down if someone knocked on the door. "Oh yeah, there's a narwhal in my kitchen, and he may or may not be my father. I hope you don't mind," I'd probably say. Shaking my head, I stand up and clear my thoughts before sprinting upstairs to my brother's room.
And of course, because this is a writing prompt, I find another narwhal fluttering on the ground with a gaming headset balancing on its fat forefront and athletic clothes adorning its fat body. I look in my mother's room to find no less than before — another stupid, fat narwhal. What is happening?
I throw open the front door and sprint out into the street, watching cars pass by. Most have narwhals at the steering wheels with normal people screaming in the passenger's seat. I sigh. What do I call this? I think. The narwhal epidemic?
Waking down the sidewalk to the downtown area, I find more and more narwhals suntanning on the ground or sitting glumly behind cash registers in shops.
"Lacey? Is that you?" someone calls. I turn about until I find the source of the voice, my teacher, Mr. Pearson. "Mr. Pearson! What is happening?"
"I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea, Ms. Lacey," he says, coming closer. "I haven't found another regular person except you, so we should stick together."
"Should we be scared, Mr. Pearson?"
"I'm not sure. But we shouldn't be at ease."
We spend the next two hours as the sun falls ambling around frantically, trying to find other normal people. We find a five of my other teachers, a boy named Andrew, and an old woman on the verge of tears. Together, we take shelter in an empty store under construction. The process of finish of the building had been postponed a week ago due to the workers' tendency to blubber on the ground.
"Do we need some kind of survival plan?" Andrew asks fervently, nervous sweat dripping down the side of his face. Something I noticed when I met him an hour and a half ago was that he was very sweaty. That's just what I first noticed — he constantly sweats. Sweaty boi.
"So far, the narwhals haven't shown any sort of hostility," Mr. Pearson says, motioning for us to sit down in the corner. "But it's best to always be on our watch for any sign of threatening activity."
"He's right," Mrs. Mel agrees. "I have extra food at my home, and I live alone, so there should be no narwhals there. We could stay there, if you all would like."
"That sounds good," Mr. Pearson confirms. "We can head there in a bit, once the narwhals seem to have calmed down."
We creep out of the shop quietly an hour later, walking a few blocks away to my science teacher's house. She cooks a small meal and brings out blankets and such for all of us to sleep with — and they are very cozy, fuzzy blankets. I enjoy them.
It's nice to be in the company of normal people for once. For weeks I've been surrounded by crazy narwhal people.
|————+————|
It's been two days since we took shelter in Mrs. Mel's home. Narwhals seem to have taken over the city, and they're beginning to get intelligent again, it appears. Mr. Pearson spotted one with legs walking around with a newspaper from a year ago — how the narwhal acquired it, we have no idea.
Andrew and I are in the living room, watching the news. The people on TV are normal too — the reporter talks about the masses of narwhals in cities all over America. And suddenly, she says, "Scientists have brought a narwhal in for experimentation, and have found a deadly virus in its immune system — this appears to be the cause of this strange transformation in people. The narwhals seem to be regaining intelligence, even evolving. It's going rather fast. They are already growing legs and other appendages. The scientists are calling this absurd epidemic 'The Narwhal Virus.'"
Andrew and I exchange worried glances, clicking off the television. This is all too strange to take in at once. Narwhal Virus? How is that possible?
And suddenly, someone pounds on the door. "NARWHAL FBI, OPEN UP!!" Never mind. Somenarwhal pounds on the door.
Mr. Pearson takes Andrew and I's hands and leads us to the back door, grabbing the other teachers and the old lady as well. "We have to go. They're here to take us away." And so we run. We run for such a long time that I think I might collapse, my chest burning and legs numb, until we reach the edge of a forest.
"DO NOT RUN FROM THE NARWHAL FBI, HUMANS! DO NOT RESIST. THIS IS A SIEGE. I REPEAT, DO NOT RESIST."
"I thought we lost them!" Andrew screeches, his throat parched.
"Nope," I say, groaning. We put our hands up, squinting from the narwhal FBI's bright flashlights.
"It was nice getting to know you, Lacey," Andrew says from beside me. "You too," I say, even though I really don't know anything about him at all and I'd barely spoken ten full sentences to him during the two days we'd been trying to survive the Narwhal Virus together.
The last thing I hear before the darkness consumes us is, "You cannot stop it. We will conquer the world. You cannot stop The Narwhal Virus." It's said in a gravelly whisper that sends shivers down my spine. I guess this is the end.

Fun House: Chapter 10
The moment we got to the hospital I contacted the agents and told them where to find Antwan. He was heavily sedated and I could not say goodbye to him. I knew I'd never see him again, not while his dad was mayor and the war between Joker and Mayor Caliano lasted. After we left him at the hospital, Maria and Jay repeated what Mr. Pearson said. I could not return to them unless I was ready for Joker and all that he had to offer. We said our goodbyes and they left, returning to Joker's side.
When I woke up, I found Mr. Pearson standing over me. His face was as cold as usual and gave nothing away. When I turned him to my side so many years ago I did not expect him to still have so much power over me. Something about him calmed the beasts within. He was clearly one hell of a therapist, crazy sure but a damn good therapist. I looked around to see that Antwan was gone. I jumped up and headed for the door enraged, but Mr. Pearson's words stopped me.
"They left hours ago. There's nothing you can do, I received word that he's safely under his dad's bosom."
"Dammit, how the fuck did that happen? Where the hell were you?"
I snapped pacing the room. Shit was a blur and then I remembered that I had Bliss locked away somewhere. I started for the door again and he stopped me again.
"She's gone too. They all left together, her Maria, Jay, and Antwan."
I turned to him, confused.
"What? How come…"
I covered my face. I could not remember anything after starting to torture Antwan. I kept thinking about how close he and Bliss were getting. I started to wonder if she let him touch her and kiss her and… I growled and turned towards Mr. Pearson. He smiled tightly, understanding I wanted answers.
"You got a little too carried away and one thing led to another. Bliss tried to stop you, but you were too deep in yourself to realize it. Also, you actually tried to kill Maria, which was quiet shocking. Anyway, Bliss being the smart girl that she is decided to get to close to you. Yes I warned her not to, but she's so intelligent with herself righteous bullshit-"
"Stay on track man."
"Of course, she touched your face-"
"You let her-"
"I warned her and she did not listen. Well one thing led to another and I had to rip you from her before you took her on the wall over there."
Oh no, oh no. I almost forced her. Oh no, oh no. She'll hate me even more. Mr. Pearson seeing that I was panicking decided to ease my mind by telling my how she was all for it until I tried to take off her pants.
"Clearly some underlying issues there, maybe some childhood trauma. I mean the fear in her eyes was so pitiful. I had to help her get away from you. However, I made sure she knew that if she comes back I won't be stopping you again."
I just stared at him.
"Why would you tell her that? Now she'll never come back. I figured once I got the club back I could bribe her with some incentives, but you royally fucked that up!"
"No."
"No, no what?"
"You can't have her."
"What did you say to me? I can have whatever the fuck I want."
I snapped stepping up to him, seething.
"Remember Harley."
I stepped back and cringed at her name.
"That's not fair, she was already batshit. What she did to me at Arkham, I only paid her back."
"What about the years of abuse, Joker. At what point did she have enough suffering?"
"She took them!"
I shouted, pressing my hand to my head. The thoughts were crumbled and incoherent.
Mr. Pearson actually seemed concerned.
I only became you therapist a few years after that, when Batman sent you back to Arkham. You never mentioned what happened before me? What did she take, Joker?"
I rubbed my temples and shook my head.
"No, no. I don't want to talk about it."
This time when I headed for the door he did not stop me.
Weeks went by and I still could not figure out where Urin was hiding. Shit was really pissing me off. Maria and Jay had returned to me, but I was too focused on finding Urin to punish them. Every lead turned out to be a bust and despite my torturing his followers, none would talk. I did not blame them. Urin's ability to maintain control over the weak was far more superior to my own. I had to step up my game, so I sent Mr. Pearson and Jay to scout out new recruits. Maria being the doll that she was use her connections with the cities "ladies of the night" to find out anything she could about him. All we knew for sure that there were a lot of their people going missing. That was Urin's specialty, rarely anyone survived his games. I touched my face, tracing the faint scars I could still feel.
"Mr. J?"
I looked down at women in-between my legs and sighed.
"What?"
They looked at each other and purred.
"Are we not pleasing you?"
I grabbed her by the hair and pushed her back on my dick. I laid my head against the couch and sighed again.
"You're doing fine. Just bite down more, yea like that."
They both began to work my cock in unison. It was too big for their mouths so they had to work together to get me off. Sometimes I missed Hazel and her big ass mouth, but then I remembered how she often used it to gloat and ridiculed others. I hate people like that, always thinking that they were somehow better than the rest. I moaned when the Lacey Twins were finally getting me off, just for a moment I was able to forget my problems and enjoy the moment.
After almost three months of nothing, we finally found one of his hideouts. Unfortunately, he was gone, but we were able to find out some juicy information from some of the living prostitutes. They told us he was planning something big, something that could destroy Gotham. When he found out that Batman was gone, he returned and took over this redistribution plant and enlisted the help of Mayor Caliano to keep it out of site.
"How does that help me?"
"Wait, this is where it gets good. You know the drugs you have been selling? Turns out, your suppler was Urin and he's been messing with some new psychotics."
Shit started to get weird. The women started to laugh uncontrollably and I thought maybe he had used some of my old stuff to create a new laughing gas.
"I don't see-"
Before I could finish, one of the girls screamed and attacked one of my goons. She bit into his throat and ripped it out and started eating him. As if on que all the women went ape shit and started attacking us, with anything they could grab. The woman, who was talking to me giggled.
"He wants us to be what we truly are Joker. You know what he means right? He made you?"
She said, slowly creeping towards me.
I would have asked how she knew that, but I already knew the answer. Why would he leave these girls alive, it was not his style? I could see that the men, including Mr. Pearson were having a hard time fighting off the women. They were extremely strong and took the bullets with ease. Their eyes were red and veins were protruding from their bodies. This was some zombie type shit and I was not dealing with it. I reached for my gun and shot her and the others in the head.
"Oh, well I guess that works."
Mr. Pearson said, pulling out a handkerchief and wiping off the blood on his face.
I shot the chick, who talked to me, again because she twitched and then proceeded to empty my clip into the others.
"Not the fuck today. Mr. Pearson, how many of that shit have we sold and where?"
"I don't understand? Why is it effecting them now, we've been selling for nearly a year?"
One of the goons asked. I stared at him and looked at Pearson.
"Find Hazel, check the lab, and get me some of those drugs."
I turned away and left. If shit was going to hit the fan, I needed to get Bliss.
