By Caroline Muggia
At the end of each mbg podcast, we ask our guests to answer this question: What advice would you give your 20-something self? It’s always one of our favorite parts of the show, as it offers up wisdom guests often didn’t even know they had. Their answers are varied, but the themes are common—trust and let go.

It’s an honor for us to have this year’s nourishment presented by @healthy_ish —born from @bonappetitmag they bring together all the good-for-you food you also want to eat. They’ve created a beautiful community from the “Eat what you love” and satisfaction over deprivation belief, while also emphasizing the importance of knowing who’s made our food, where it comes from, and what’s in it. . We’re thrilled to present this special panel discussion at Mercado Sagrado: . . BEYOND ORGANIC: LIVING & EATING RIGHTEOUSLY . Join Healthyish editor Amanda Shapiro along with Nitsa Citrine of Sun Potion, LaRayia Gaston of Lunch on Me and Makani Gerardi of Pono Burger as they discuss ways in which we can move to collectively approach food production and consumption with the Hawaiian concept of pono, or righteousness. . To Hawaiians, pono means to do things the right way—in terms of self, others, and the environment. How can we best support and feed our families and community? How can we be a little greener, make our decisions a little more consciously? How can we utilize food to connect with each other and as a tool to help bridge cultural differences? Pono is about deciding to be humble, to be kind—what does that mean as a farmer or distributor, as a chef or a maker of medicine? And what does it mean in terms of our modern food industry definitions? Certified-organic production doesn’t necessarily make a farmer’s fruit more valuable or nutritious than that of a farmer who may not be certified, but whose bounty is locally grown and/or biodynamic. Learn how can we better navigate these complicated times so that we stay awake and choose the path of service and of love, especially when it comes to the food that nourishes us. . Saturday, October 13, 1:30pm . Please visit our website to read more about each of our panelists and learn about the other talks, workshops and experiential offerings at this year’s Mercado Sagrado. . . . #healthyish #mercadosagrado #inpono #foodasmedicine photo of #taro #kalo by @risingsuntrees (at Malibu Canyon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoSVRlagCHz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=p6m8nzg2llj1
