Your behavior seemed nice to him and you were always ready to listen to him when he talked about religion, even if you didn't understand it at all yourself. He could not have imagined that at some point he would realize that his feelings for you had ceased to be friendly

He was watching you and when you noticed it, he smiled gently, but did not say that he was in love with you. He understood that he had to do it and waited for the right moment. picture this: after maya takes her position as master of the kurain channeling technique the kurain village elders immediately start pressuring her to get married and produce an heir, an idea she's opposed to. she'd already resolved to ascend to master years ago meaning she's thought long and hard about which traditions she'd work to keep and which to discard. she is not going to let things like established main and branch families tear her clan apart like it did with her mother and aunt. but maya is smart and knows that this is a matter of village politics that she must be strategic about. tradition doesn't change overnight and as the young and newly-appointed master, she doesn't actually have that much sway. outright defiance won't work. so she negotiates and goes along with taking a spouse so long as she alone gets to pick regardless of the elders' approval.

said spouse has to fit a number of criteria: 1) they would need to not have an ego and be secure enough in their own life to be okay with holding no power within the village. be it because they'd be a man living in a matriarchal community or because maya would always outrank them regardless of gender. 2) they would have to be keen on living in a rural, traditional japanese-style town in the mountains. 3) they are not precious or sentimental about the concept of marriage and would not be offended by maya's pragmatism. 4) loyal to maya and would not defer to the village elders; in fact, someone who isn't afraid to put foolish old people in their place, obligatory respect for seniors be damned, would be helpful. more importantly, the blatant disregard would be REALLY funny. 5) needs to be able keep up with maya's steel samurai obsession. 6) ideally they should be someone crazy enough to accept maya's proposal merely because she had the guts to ask

somehow, on maya's shortlist of eligible candidates from her and phoenix's inner circle, the most fitting one is the twisted samurai simon blackquill of all people. and thus on her next trip to the city, she plans to drop by the prosecutors' office to make one very odd request

Rewritten History To Be With You AU

We need more Blackquill content that stands on its own, rather than just being a side ship for Shadowpeach or used to support Shadowpeach/Macaque or other ships. So, I created an AU focused entirely on this ship!

In this AU, Peng and Macaque accidentally get sent back to the past (and no, it’s not the Ink Curse’s fault). I’m still figuring out how it happens, but they both end up in the past—right before the Brotherhood’s attempt to overthrow the Jade Emperor. Neither of them knows the other is also in the past, so they each decide, "Before I try to get back to the future, I’m going to get revenge on Peng/Macaque by dating them and breaking their heart!" Cool idea, right? So, they go for it! Peng is the first to ask Macaque out, and they start going on lots of dates, trying to outdo each other with backhanded compliments and glares.

But the more they keep up this "revenge," the more they slowly start to fall in love. Macaque begins to realize that he misunderstood Peng—they���re not as much of an asshole and a bitch as he thought (okay, they’re still an asshole and a bitch, just not as much as he originally believed). Meanwhile, Peng’s mindset shifts from "Haha! I’m going to date Macaque and break his heart for breaking mine first!" to "AHHHH!!! HEART! Haven’t you learned anything!?"

So, Macaque starts thinking, "Wow, I was so focused on Sun Wukong that I didn’t realize how little time I spent with the rest of the Brotherhood, especially Peng. I guess I’ll abandon my old plan and try to spend more time with Peng before the Brotherhood’s doom." On the other hand, Peng is having a total crisis and is not okay. From Macaque’s point of view, it looks like Peng is finally letting themselves be vulnerable, which is huge because Peng always called Macaque a "cowardly rat" and was a total asshole. From Peng’s perspective, it seems like Macaque finally loves them, not Sun Wukong, but them! And this is a big deal for Peng.

As for the Brotherhood, Demon Bull King and Yellowtusk are the only ones who approve and support this relationship—to the point where Yellowtusk even bets Demon Bull King that Peng and Macaque will get married within the year, and Demon Bull King accepts the bet. Meanwhile, Sun Wukong and Azure Lion absolutely do not approve of this relationship. Does this include Yandere Sun Wukong and Yandere Azure Lion? Absolutely! Listen, if Shadowpeach is going to make Peng and Azure Lion their main antagonists, then I’m allowed to do this, okay? Good.

Anyway, Get ready for lots of miscommunication (it’s Macaque and Peng, after all), misunderstandings (again, it’s Macaque and Peng), jealousy, drama, “No, it’s not what it looks like!”, yandere vibes (from Azure Lion and Sun Wukong), sabotage (Azure Lion and Sun Wukong trying to ruin Peng and Macaque’s relationship), intense love-hate dynamics, flirting under fire, “Are we fighting or flirting?”, rivals to enemies to lovers, and much more! feel free to ask me any questions about this AU! A series of AAI2 headcanons

Kay bounces around between jobs for a while—she works under Lang at interpol for some time, and then spends a few years as a detective, and eventually settles into working as a PI. It gives her the free time to pursue her own investigations, and she can work with either the Prosecution or the Defense as she pleases. She does the full Yatagarasu intro every time she’s called in to testify. She adds special effects each time. No one knows how.

Kay also gets fuckoff tall. Just like. Fully over 6ft, and extremely buff to boot. Her vibes are very Gender and I can see her going on testosterone at some point, so maybe she has some scruff. Really emulating Badd.

Sebastian also gets tall. No concrete height but he must get taller than Edgeworth and Edgeworth must have a crisis about it. Full beanpole though, no muscle.

BIG fan of long hair Sebastian. Tied in an elegant little ponytail. He flicks it when he’s smug about making a point. It makes people want to punch him.

Relatedly, everyone on Team Edgeworth is a smug asshole. This is just canon. Edgeworth? Bitch energy off the charts. Franziska? She can and will mock you to your face. Small children hate her. Lang? Fantastic dude but you could NOT get through a conversation without wanting to deck him. Kay? Absolutely insufferable and she’s going to make it everyone’s problem. Sebastian? You may want to make him kind and soft because his dad sucks and he DOES care about doing the right thing and he cries a lot. However once he gets his confidence back he’s going to go back to being an arrogant bitch, except he’ll be right more often. Which is Worse. Ray is the closest to being straight up Nice. But at what cost.

Sebastian wears blue as his accent color for a long time, and actively avoids wearing red. It’s not until Edgeworth gives him a red cape that matches his suit that Sebastian puts red on again and feels like he earned it. It’s an emotional moment. Sebastian sobs through their entire shared lunch break.

Lang, Franziska, and Kay worked together really well in interpol, and went on some highly classified missions. They may or may not have smuggled political refugees out of Khura’in. Whenever anyone asks if they’ve been there, they give the exact same smile and copy-pasted response about it being a beautiful country and no of course they’ve never been! The Wright Anything lie detectors all blare alarms. Edgeworth doesn’t let them near Prosecutor Sahdmadhi when he’s in the country.

I actually think Franziska slowly leans more and more into her investigative duties for Interpol. Will she one day realize she’s more of a detective than a prosecutor? Who knows, but she fucking loves chasing down criminals. She and Lang are best friends. They will one day make friendship bracelets and cherish them for the rest of time.

Kay and Sebastian get platonic married. Kay arranged it for a case. Sebastian thought they were making a blood pact. They never get it annulled. (aro Kay and demi Sebastian ftw)

They are also SO gender and goofy with it. Kay is Sebastian’s husband. Sebastian is Kay’s wife. If Sebastian ever dates anyone (Blackquill/Sebastian my beloved rarepair), Kay is going to call them her wife’s mistress for the rest of time.

Sebastian and Edgeworth never have a formal conversation about it, but they consider each other family. They refer to each other as father/son only when the other isn’t present. Sebastian is in his will.

Sebastian and Courtney DO have a formal conversation about the same topic. There’s a lot of crying. John exclusively refers to Sebastian as his “weird brother”

Edgeworth and Courtney have a custody agreement. They meet weekly for lunches. They deny they’re friends but they ARE coparenting. Divorce rumors abound.

Conflicts of interest don’t exist in the ace attorney universe but if they did these two would have to declare one. Edgeworth would be like. Sorry I can’t work with one of three entire judges in our district. We’re coparenting a teenager together. And Justine would be like yeah. Also I think he’s a bitch :\

Sebastian goes into child welfare. He specializes in criminal cases with children as the victims or defendants, and often gets called in on cases where kids have to testify. In civil cases he acts as a Guardian Ad Litem (I like to think he was Trucy’s during the adoption proceedings!)

I see the Klavier and Sebastian highschool friends angle and I respect it but I actually think Klavier should have vastly complicated feelings about Sebastian, while Sebastian barely even thinks about him.

To expand: Sebastian is head of the class (Klavier is sporting about it but also jealous. They don’t really interact. Klavier has friends and Sebastian is an asshole.) >> Blaise Debeste’s bribery and other crimes come to light (Klavier feels a little bad for him. He doesn’t say it out loud but there is some very real level of “he should have noticed. What an idiot. I would have known.”) >> Sebastian prosecutes his father because conflicts of interest don’t exist in Ace Attorney. He cries the entire very public trial, and sometimes the court needs to go into recess because the defendant won’t stop hurling abuse at the prosecutor, but he otherwise presents a very solid case. (Klavier watches in stupefied horror. “I could never do that to someone I love,” he thinks, “no matter what they did.” He’s wrong.) >> Sebastian slowly picks himself up and builds his legal career with Edgeworth and Justine’s help. (Klavier still feels a bit of condescending pity, but mainly it’s a “good for him” kind of thing, with a small but lingering amount of distrust.) >> State v. Enigmar (Klavier takes a leave of absence. He shoves down his misgivings about the case. The Dark Age of the Law starts. Sebastian stays behind, and does his best with every case. He doesn’t run. Klavier is desperately bitter.) >> Seven Year Gap (Klavier becomes an international rock star. Sebastian is thrown to the wolves every day he practices law under the Debeste name. They’re both stained, but the difference is that Klavier is from his actions and Sebastian is from others. There’s at least one hit single based around this. Klavier does not knock on Sebastian’s door.) >> State V. Misham. Sebastian takes Klavier aside and tells him not to hold himself responsible. Says that he can’t be blamed for not noticing, and that he just has to try and build himself up again. Sebastian tells him his door is always open. Klavier says thank you but I’m okay. (Klavier thinks “Maybe you couldn’t have known. But I could have. I should have. I was not supposed to be the fool.”) >> Klavier goes to Edgeworth-mandated therapy. He comes to terms with Kristoph’s betrayal. He realizes he has been obsessing over someone he barely knows from high school for over a decade. He wonders if this is a crush. If he had a friend to tell this to, they would say that this is actually just an externalized form of self-loathing. He does not have any friends. His therapist tells him this instead. >> Klavier knocks on Sebastian’s door. They proceed to have a series of very normal conversations. They become friends. Klavier is too mortified to ever tell Sebastian about any of the above.

The Klavier and Sebastian analysis could have been it’s own post but I got in too deep. I think Klavier should get to be an unfair bitch sometimes, even if he never says it out loud.

Alas, this post is now too long for me to expand on my Blackquill/Sebastian thoughts. Of which I have many. There’s 7k of fic written in my notes app. Blackquill thinks Sebastian is pushy and confident and the hottest person he’s ever seen. Sebastian thinks Blackquill is extremely pretty and kind to small animals and children. No one comprehends their views of each other.

Lawyer girls defending you

A/n:I've been in an ace attorney mood these past few days so I decided to write this in between requests

When she found out you were being accused of murder, on the outside, mia seemed calm, collected, and determined to clear your name.

And while she was determined, on the inside she was completely freaking out. Her lover a murderer? They would never do something like that and she intended to prove it.

She tried to calm you down as best as she could before the trial, holding your hands and telling you that she would defend you until the end and that she believed in you with all of her heart.

During the trial, she probably put on the best defense she ever did. It wasn't only a matter of believing in her client anymore, it was about believing in her partner. No matter how dire things got, she never once wavered and always kept a smile on her face. after all the only time a lawyer can cry is when it's all over.

She hugged you incredibly tightly when you were declared innocent, she was so happy to see you smile again. She took a week off to spend with you, she needed to relax and spend time with her love after that intense trial.

"I'm so happy, my dear, calm down, everything's fine now. Oh please, I didn't do anything. You were innocent and I simply proved it to everyone"

The moment athena learned of your incarceration, she immediately went to the detention center to ask you questions. You didn't even have to ask her to take your case she was already going to from the start.

She could hear the voice of your heart. It was full of anguish and sadness, and it was screaming that you didn't do it, she had a flashback to being on the stand for Simon's trial, she couldn't make the same mistake again she was going to prove you innocent no matter what.

Phoenix and Apollo both helped raise her confidence before the trial, and she did the same with you, but she stood alone at the defense bench, she had to do this alone to prove herself.

Of course, she asked blackquill to handle the prosecution. There is no one she trusts more to help her reach the truth from the opposite side, she also asks him to at least tone down the sword slashes for you.

She was a even more of a whirlwind of emotions than usual during the trial, yelling at anyone who calls you a murderer. After the long and hard battle was over, she hugged you with all of her overflowing emotions shown.

"Y-y/n, did you see that? I did it. I showed everyone how wrong they were and how innocent you are, we need to celebrate!"

A/n:she was a lawyer once, so I count her. Also, I just wanted to write something for her.

Her first thought was to ask ryunosuke to defend you, but he was busy with another case, so she panicked. She had no one to defend you, but if you were found guilty, you would get the death penalty, she couldn't let it happen, so she had the idea to dress up as ryutaro again.

She told you her real identity, of course, and you were incredibly worried for her, If she was found out she could have been arrested too, but she reassured you that she had already done this before and that she would do anything to free you.

Sholmes helped her investigate (in his own special way), and Iris made a special blend of tea to help you two relax before the trial, while ryu couldn't be there he reassured you of susato's competence in court earlier.

Her father also helped her, standing at her side during the trial like the first time she had done this, helping her in any way he could. But of course, susato was the one who put in all the effort. She defended the best she could, taking strategies from ryunosuke, and all of it resulted in a non guilty verdict.

She waited until you got home to take off her disguise and celebrate with you, she couldn't be happier she had helped you not only prove your innocence but also avoid the death penalty.

"That was intense, don't you think y/n? And it was only my second trial ever. O-oh? I did amazing? Please, you're just flattering me I just copied what naruhodo-san does"

Some thoughts about blackbright/phantomquill and hakanaki

There are a few ways to spin this trope

Firstly, let's say Blackquill never met real Fulbright. It was the Phantom from the start (of course Simon doesn't know that) Here hakanaki is caused by the Phantom not returning the feelings. Now there are two options Option 1: they don't get involved romantically - that's just the most basic form of hanahaki Option 2: they do - now that's more interesting. Does the disease stop? Does it continue? I think most common version says whether the disease is cured depends on if the victim thinks the love is requited. So according to that, if Simon believes that this is real then boom, problem solved. (tho bonus points if during turnabout for tomorrow hakanaki comes back. Beautifully tragic) However, it's a fictional disease, we can make it more angsty. Let’s say it has some divine knowledge of how genuine the feelings are. So it all seems well, they're dating, or at least have something going on between them, but the flowers don't stop because the Phantom's feelings aren't genuine. And Simon doesn't know why the flowers aren't stopping, why is it getting worse, he starts doubting "Fulbright"s feelings, making everything worse in the process. There's probably a big emotional scene at one point. And the Phantom is just panicking because shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Now let's assume Blackquill met the real Fulbright, at like the very beginning. Then he gets hakanaki but doesn't know yet, and Fulbright gets replaced. I was going to say at first that this is a more interesting option, but now that I think about it, the outcome is almost the same because option 1: no romantic involvement - most basic hanahaki stuff and option 2 is again, if based on Simon's beliefs then it gets cured, but going with the "the disease has divine knowledge" once again, it's not cured and Simon is doubting everything and so on the only thing that changes is the cause, because here I'd say it's because real Fulbright doesn't return his feelings

Both of this scenarios work when Fulbright is dead, but let’s add the Bobby lives AU, just for the fun of it. In the first one he actually does nothing really. And in the second one, the only reason for him to be alive is to have a happy ending, where he gets rescued and they fall in love and Simon is cured yippie

..or is it? Because what if real Fulbright doesn’t love Blackquill back? It is admittedly kinda the same as basic hanahaki in the end, but I am an enjoyer of taking a Bobby lives au and making it tragic Bobby is alive, but it turns out he doesn't have feelings for Simon (especially angsty if the Phantom got involved romantically with Simon) just with addition of flowers Or what if Bobby lives, but Simon realizes that he doesn't like real him this way (and it drives him absolutely insane that he was/is in love with the Phantom) in context of hanahaki we're back to the first scenario, of it being caused by Phantom not loving him back

And while on the topic of hanahaki, there's also versions of getting it surgically removed, but losing your feelings for the target in the process, and I just think Simon would absolutely get it done. Unfortunately, he's in prison womp womp
