some of my thoughts on link, zelda, and the champions
this post actually started off with me trying to answer the last part of this anon's ask, and then it spiraled into something else, so i'm going to have to make another post about the actual idea 😭 for now, you can have this long-ass fucking thinkpiece i typed up because i love the champions dearly and i wanted a much larger presence from them as i played botw. this post is really long so if you want to read it, please sit down and have a snack while you read.
so the last part of anon's original ask was about the champions singing together and the idea of a found family—
anonymous asked:
Also: imagine all champions, Link and Zelda hanging out on one of the Divine Beasts and singing a song together (i am very weak to champions being a found family)
like you're so #real for this anon. i honestly do hope we get more champions content in TOTK because nintendo completely missed on not expanding on a found family dynamic between link, zelda, and the champions. sure there's the champion's ballad DLC and age of calamity (i haven't played either of these. sorry. i will soon!), but that's not.. they're still dead in the DLC and AoC isn't considered canon i think it's more of an alternative timeline? so that doesn't really count.
me personally i think daruk and urbosa are very mother and father, and they probably were if riju and yunobo are their direct descendants (which is a whole other rabbit hole in itself; urbosa and daruk died most likely leaving little children and spouses behind ㅠㅠ). and maybe that is the point; daruk is the rock (because he's a goron lol) that keeps the family together and in the botw memories is seen to be taking initiative to lead and tell the other champions to get to their divine beasts when the calamity awakens. he’s steadfast and encouraging and jovial and that’s very father of him! as for urbosa, she straight up mothers zelda and link in-game, she's basically zelda's maternal figure after zelda's mom dies. she's not a stepmom, she's the mother that stepped up 💪❤️
mipha bears the Eldest Daughter Curse™ and revali is the moody teenager who’s Not going through a phase, it’s a LIFESTYLE MOM!!!1!1!1!1 and imo link and zelda kinda give goofy twin siblings (imagine like the pine twins) vibes to me
i like the headcanon that link had a younger sister pre-calamity, but i’d like to add my own twist to that. assuming that link used to live in hateno village, what if link's parents split after the birth of his younger sister, with his father taking link and moving closer to hyrule castle to fulfill his duty as a knight, and his mother not wanting to get involved with the war against the calamity and taking his sister to stay in hateno? link must have been really young at the time and barely remembers being able to play with his little sister :( so even if he had a sibling, he was basically raised alone for most of his life. and if his father was a knight of hyrule, i doubt that he could have been the most present father to link either... with zelda's mother dying when she was young and her father being a complete dick, that makes both link and zelda the "only child" kids that were raised in less than desirable familial conditions. and so, i think link and zelda would have their own difficulties integrating into this found family dynamic with the champions.
now i'm not an only child (i have demons for siblings tbh), but i think both link and zelda are very independent people who feel like they can only rely and trust themselves with the way they've been raised. it takes a lot for both of them to learn to be vulnerable and trust others, and they're very much not used to the mismatched deck of personalities they have to deal with within the champions, that being jolly father daruk, very cutthroat mother urbosa, sweet and soft-spoken mipha, and dickhead ass bitch bird revali. how can they navigate through these relationships with their lonely childhoods swept up in prophecies of old? it's much easier than you think and it has to do with anon's idea: strengthening rapport with each other by singing together atop a divine beast >:]
ok i'm joking, i think that's more the apex of the roadmap to becoming a found family, but it's a very cute idea 🥺 after link and zelda are finally cool with each other, there are so many opportunities for each of them to bond with the other champions individually. there's of course zelda falling asleep on mama urbosa in vah naboris, link and daruk have their father-son bonding time by daruk protecting link from getting smashed to a pulp by volcanic boulders, etc etc, but what about mipha taking zelda to all the monuments that detail zora history throughout the domain so that zelda can study them? what about revali teaching link how to use the paraglider so that he can actually hit targets at the flight range and get a chance to finally settle the score between him and link? i actually like that idea a lot, because then we could get an explanation as to why the paraglider even exists in the botw universe (revalink for the win ehehe). nintendo, my dear friend, there could be so much more to this world that you've introduced to us.
on one hand, of course botw is narratively focused on link and zelda and calamity ganon, and mechanically about the open-world map, shrines/divine beasts, etc, that break free from traditional zelda conventions. but it leaves the champions to only be side characters that, though they played critical roles in handling the divine beasts, are nothing more than ghostly figures with a handful of one-dimensional character traits that only create a further disconnect between the current world of hyrule vs. its pre-calamity past. which is why we get champion's ballad and age of calamity, which both somewhat expands on the champions as characters, but never more than giving them a few more traits and interactions that, to me personally, feel empty and inadequate. i want to have these intimate interactions with the champions as characters in the botw map, ones that i can walk up to chat with as though they were sidon or beedle or a random npc traveler. i want to feel close to the champions, and nintendo, though with weak attempts, doesn't give me that.
the picture that purah takes of the champions is so important to me. this right here is peak found family, a group of the most mismatched individuals that somehow meld perfectly together and balance each other out, and we only receive it through the DLC. that's so stupid. sorry nintendo, i want more than three minute long memories of a singular moment in a past life, i want more than npcs telling me who i used to be. i want king dorephan to tell us about the time zelda fell off of a waterfall and mipha immediately jumped after her to save her clumsy ass. i want to look through historical records of the gerudo and find one about urbosa launching daruk at the mouth of a molduking and daruk chewing her out for it later. i want elder kaneli gossip with me about an old rumor about how revali and the hylian champion of the past used to be found asleep together on the floor of the flight range's hut after a long night of training. i want the world of botw to give me signs and stories about how close the champions were with each other and to make my heart ache, to wish desperately to have known them, instead of like, 20 memories that only serve the plot, or honestly don't at all. but i digress!
i know for some people, the presence of the champions were meant to teach link about tragedy and loss and the effect of war and ruin and evil and cherishing your loved ones or whatever, but i simply did not get that message. that was not what i perceived the champions to be, because to me, the game lacked showing the relationships link and zelda had with the champions. like okay, you died and you also happened to know me. what if link doesn't really remember them at all? then what?
you receive twenty or so memories about the champions when including the DLC, and yes i do concede it gives us some more insight about their characters, but it doesn't do much more than that. the cutscene where mipha moves vah ruta to ready its lasers at the castle, where she wishes to see her father and sidon one more time, especially is an excellent example of emphasizing their significance to the people around them, to us as players and spectators to this hyrule... i want more of that.
i could be wrong about some of the stuff i've said, so disclaimer again that i haven't played the DLC or age of calamity, and maybe you do feel closer to the champions when you play those games! fanmade fic and art and headcanons have been really great ways of helping me view them in a multi-dimensional way, but going off the game's content itself, the champions feel like hollow spectres of people we never truly remember or get to know. maybe that's what they're supposed to feel like, but i don't want to feel that way about them. i'm too attached to them now, and i want to get to know them! curse you nintendo!!!
#loz#legend of zelda#botw#breath of the wild#loz botw#amihan's headcanons#amihan's botwverse#i might as well start making three hour long video essays like everyone else#i hope you guys are able to understand what i was trying to say in this post ???#throwback to that post that was like. the only way to make botw better is to make it a dating sim#because it's so fucking true#LET ME ROMANCE REVALI AS LINK!!!!!#LET ME HAVE A MOONLIT LAKESIDE WALK WITH REVALI AND GET TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY!!!!!!#the more i think about it the more i think the games should have started 10000 years ago with the creation of the divine beasts#and the first hero and princess who fought against calamity ganon with these sheikah inventions#and then a sequel game to that would be the era of this link zelda and champions and botw#and THEN totk#idk... nintendo should put me on their storyboard team i think#sorry again that this is so long...

hello!!! hope u're having an awesome day/evening :DD so anyway, what got u into botw/tloz? also what other fandoms are u in? ur art is so cute btw!!! ♡
awww hii!!!!! thank you for the question and for saying my art is cute! :D :D :D
♡ big long rant below vvv ♡
i first played botw on the wii seven years ago with my big brother when i was really young! at first..i hated it :V the wii sucked and it was SO STRESSFUL when the stal-monsters came and started attacking me! i even tried diving underwater but just got shot a ton,.. so i didn't play it for a year or so before i got it on the switch and absolutely fell in love with it. it was the most beautiful game i'd ever played, i could be a cute boy and run around naked plus I could ahve a horse. i named her milky and i didn't know i could register her so i left her outside of kakariko and she dissapeared. rip milky ;_;
so after about two years of aimlessly exploring hyrule i found some youtube videos during the pandemic. and it was all theories and cutscenes and one about a romance? and i, being a little fruit, saw te pretty girl on the thumbnail and was instantly hooked. because i was link and link was me, so i wanted to see how i could get a cool elf girlfriend (for perfectly straight reasons, of course -w-). so i was entranced with zelink, and princess zelda. i looked at fanart, i shipped until i realised....this was a boring ship and i didn't even like zelda too much, and i hadn't even watched any of the cutscenes yet.
so i watch aaalll the cutscenes, including a very special one, mipha's touch. cue little me squealing and kicking my legs because it's a mermaid and she heals and she's REALLY pretty. so i begin playing through botw's story in earnest. and i try to get to ruta- fail, and do vah medoh instead (and become obsessed with revali..dark days indeed).but now that i have revali's gale i can easily get to zora's domain and OMG! A SHARK PRINCE!!! AND HE'S MIPHA'S LITTLE BROTHER! SO SHE'S ALIVE!
but wait......why was he referring to her in past tense?
and then i see the statue and have a full link moment because i've played hours and hours just so i can see her and seh's dead????????????/ are you friken kidding me???????????????
i struggle through ruta, kill waterblight after many failed attempts and get the cutscene tm . and i'm shattered, but i've realised that this ship is canon af. mipha loved link and he's looking at her with such intensity. and..you know. i'm a young girl with too much time on my hands because of the pandemic. so i start learning to draw mipha so i can make art -w- and she really fuelled my love for art because she makes me happy okay!! 😭😭
after ages of becoming as OP as possible i get through the rest of botw and kill ganon like seven times and woah :0 who would have guessed---aoc comes rolling along. and the trailers have mipha!
and i love aoc and it just fuels my love for botw even more. so now i've completed all of the shrines and am working through the korok seeds =w=
-
as for other fandoms i'm in i'm a little active in the dunmeshi fandom, same with pjo and nier but it's really mostly just loz stuff atp because there's no way i'm letting mipha go after sixish years and her changing my brain chemistry ♡
i'd love to be more active in all fandoms but believe it or not i can be pretty shy + don't have much time on my hands ;w;U
my dream is for my original story to get its own fandom once it's up hehe ♡

i have revalink brainrot and i'm trying to write again, so...
the funny thing is i got into sidlink first and while it still is a really good ship, revalink just has that angsty pining spice that does it for me. anyway, a snippet of something i'm writing. Basically, Link comes across a romance book from Urbosa and wants to test out making out with Revali and then some if I'm feeling up to it.
“So they call it a Castelian kiss, because of its origins in Castle Town,” Revali mused, after Link had shown him the book, allowing him to briefly peruse some pages. “You must have had some action indeed back then, in spite of your stint as the Princess’s shadow,” he drawled at the Hylian.
That gave Link pause. It wasn’t that he remembered much of his life before. Revali and the others filled in the gaps when they could (Oh how Purah and Urbosa teased him mercilessly over how the two of them had pined so ardently for each other back then, and still did!). But when Link thought about it, there was a definite lack of that sort of passion in the pre-Calamity stage of his life.
He shook his head.
“Oh? The great Hero of Hyrule didn’t have anyone to kiss like that, hm?” Revali leaned down, bringing the tip of his beak to slide up against Link’s cheek and to a pointed, slowly reddening ear. He let his breath ghost over the tip, causing Link to shiver imperceptibly. Damn Revali.

Since I do a lot of shipping in my lore, I feel it's good to be upfront about the ages I'm depicting them as, since it seems my ideas differ from the common fandom headcanons?
Zelda 20 on the day of the Calamity. 23, (physically 123) in TOTK For my own comfort, as I'm uninterested in writing teen romance, I've aged up Zelda by three years. Her being a young adult doesn't change the story enough to matter. The Spring of Wisdom opens to those when they are of the age to be wise, so it just opens to those of 20 years old in my lore. (tbh 17 year olds are not wise, i know because i was 17 once.)
Link 20 during the Calamity, a few months older than Zelda 23, (physically 123) in TOTK
Revali 22 during the Calamity Idk, he's the embodiment of "I just hit my early 20s and I have EVERYTHING figured out and nobody knows more than me!!"
Mipha 120 during the Calamity, Mentally early 20s. She doesn't fall for Link until he's 19, during the Ploymus Mountain Lynel incident.
Impa 21 during The Calamity 121 in TOTK
I think that's all of the ship pertinent ones? I may add to this and change it over time, idk.
also these are just my headcanons, I'm not telling you this is how you should see these characters and it's okay if your ideas are different. At the end of the day none of our headcanons have the kiss of approval from Nintendo, so let's just have fun.
#just some fanlore for my content#tfc.botwhcs#i'm not tagging this or making this rebloggable because tbh i just want this for future reference#i always get really nervous sharing headcanons so please be nice to me :(#babblingcreek

pre-calamity link hcs
hey hey! i wrote some headcanons for pre-calamity link because i love him and want to show the hardworking boy some love. romance is heavily implied (because i have a fat crush on him lmao) though if anyone would like any platonic hcs or drabbles feel free to let me know anytime!!
warnings: none! please let me know if i need to add any!
gn!reader, 1.1k words, not proofread
---
most people who really need to know that you and link together know, but it’s not some widely-known fact throughout the castle.
but even though your inner circle is certainly aware of your relationship, all of them would agree that it really doesn’t look like it.
link is busy enough as it is, and although it’s not in anybody’s control but the king’s, being around zelda makes your group of friends raise an eyebrow.
revali, in particular, seems to enjoy bringing it up to you whenever he sees you, regardless of if link is there to hear it or not. usually though it’s just to fuel his anti-link sentiments
that being said, link does NOT like pda. like at all.
that’s why even if you two do finally get some time together it looks no different to the others than if link wasn’t there.
but you and link aren’t together for no reason. you know him very well
despite his opposition to pda, link makes it very clear that you’re on his mind with his eyes.
link has the most intense gaze of anyone you’ve ever seen, and you’re a friend of revali’s.
it’s very clear that he misses you when he finally gets time with you just because of the longing look he gives you.
privately, though, link is more open to affection.
he isn’t completely the opposite, as even in private he’s not great with affection, but he is no longer opposed to loving touches so long as you’re okay with it.
it goes without saying that link loves giving you back hugs.
he does it idly if you’re in the middle of something, like your work or other hobbies you pursue, and makes an effort to not be too much of a distraction
he especially loves it, however, if the two of you get to just stand in silence as he holds you that way. it feels so emotionally intimate to him, especially if he’s had a bad day
although i think link is more of a goofball after he wakes up from the shrine, i feel like he was the same way pre-calamity, but he just repressed it.
it’s common knowledge that link only doesn’t speak to keep his burdens to himself, and seeing as he is quite talkative after waking up without memory, it’s not unlikely that the same goes for at least some of his other personality traits
if he’s in a good mood, he likes to pretend he’s a prince courting you in a ballroom. regardless of what you’re up to, he’ll initiate a dramatic bow and you already know what’s coming up
he takes your hand and presses a gentle kiss to it, saying nothing, pulling you in for a dance
the dance is just him placing one of his hands on your waist or shoulder while the other holds one of your own and then just swaying back and forth. it makes him happy
although the back hug is his favorite, holding you in general is something he loves doing, so long as you’re both in the comfort of your own privacy, such as your house or his quarters
link would love to take you on the adventures he goes on, usually instigated by the scientific endeavors of the princess; in fact he dreams of taking you sightseeing around hyrule because it is simply gorgeous
but he refuses to, not under the rising threat of the calamity. with the increasing spike in monster appearances and violent attacks, he feels safer keeping you at home in castle town where there are armed forces guaranteed to be stationed there at any time
its not that he wants to keep you locked up anywhere, in fact he never has and never would explicitly forbid you from traveling where you wish
but if it was a decision that came down to him and involved him making a trip for his job, he would say no.
i know in breath of the wild’s timeline link had to have pulled the master sword when he was like 13 or 14, but for the sake of not writing romantic hcs for a preteen, i’m making it so that he pulls the sword at his canon age (17-18), similar to age of calamity lmao
anyway, the first time he does this and learns that he is the goddess hylia’s chosen hero, he’s completely at a loss.
he knew that the return of the calamity was guaranteed, but the appearance of the hero basically confirms that it will be back sooner than he’d like to admit
so when he goes home, the sword strapped to his back with both a new physical and theoretical weight, he pondered how you might react to the news
it’s not that he thinks you would leave him. he knows that something like this would never make you turn away
but he doesnt want you to carry the extra weight he didnt realize would come with such a realization; that extra burden.
your shock concerns him for a moment, afraid that you’re too scared by the danger that comes with him now that he has the sword
but once you collect yourself you pull him into a hug, catching him off guard
he returns it eventually, holding you tightly
he would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried. he’s very worried
worried for you, Zelda, his friends, ultimately how he would perform when the return of the calamity happened inevitably
he tells nobody. he tries so hard to repress his feelings
his worry, however, becomes evident through the sudden spike in his training
he stays up late working out or practicing with the new sword, often pushing himself past his limits
you have to beg him to take a break, explaining how a rest day is just as important as the days he works
it takes a while but he gives in. with the help of Zelda, you both somehow managed to convince the king to let him off for a day or two
he doesn’t say it, but link appreciates you more than he could ever explain. if he were to try to explain to you how much he loved and appreciated you, he’d probably word vomit everything bothering him
you come to know soon enough, and you promise him that you’re there for him whenever he needs it and that you’ll never leave him.
he still works hard, but under the growing stress of the calamity, he begins to show just the tiniest bit more affection before it’s too late.

Soooooo Revali and Link would be really cute together. Revali might be able to help Link overcome his anxieties and Link's support might help Revali with his insecurities. A very lovely couple bc they are interesting characters foils. Lovely ship.
You know it’s been a while since I’ve gone off the rails about how perfect Revalink is and in an effort to maintain some semblance of quality and sanity on this blog I’ll try not to to scream incoherently but yes you’re absolutely right they are perfect. Ok that’s it moving on. Nothing else to see here folks
OK so there’s this writing technique called “facade breaking” that is basically the principle that you have two characters who foil each other, but in ways that they both become better people because of each other. A character’s facade, or sometimes just called “the lie,” is the mindset or idea that they cling too that makes them who they are at the start of the story. It’s the image of themselves they want to keep that initially makes them hesitant or resistant to change. The breaking down of that lie/facade in order to reveal the “truth” or reality is what a character arc is. If you want a quick example of this, you can look at King Rhoam in Age of Calamity.
The facade of his character is that he doesn’t have time to be caring for his daughter because he needs to keep up appearances and focus on the Calamity. There isn’t time to coddle Zelda or let her be her own person, it’s just all about her powers. That facade starts to wear down over the course of the story, there’s cracks in it whenever Zelda and Terrako are together, and especially when he is alone, given solemn looks for the audience to see. However, the existence of a facade in the first place means that characters are resistant to the truth, and therefore resistant to change. The story has not yet put Rhoam through enough struggle to get him to change his viewpoint, which is why even until the day of Calamity, he is still insistent in his strict ways. The facade is only completely broken down during the moment of highest tragedy, which in a three act structure is usally the mid-point, in our case, the day of Calamity. When facades are broken and characters are faced with the truth--in our case, Rhoam sees that his abrasive and almost emotionally abusive actions towards his daughter were for nothing and he regrets not focusing more on loving and caring for his daughter because that was really all that mattered--that is the point in their arc where they actively change. Thus, for the rest of the story as Rhoam reunites with Zelda and lets her lead the reclamation of Hyrule, he supports her as his daughter more openly, and by the end of the game that aspect of his character is changed for the better.
Ok got all that? So the thing with Revalink is that they are both foils, AND facade breakers for each other. [A foil is just a character that is opposite another to highlight each other’s characteristics. They don’t necessarily bring out the best in each other or be an inciter in their character arc. A good example might be Bojack and Mr. Peanutbutter if you watch Bojack Horseman. They’re characters that foil each other, but they don’t both break each other’s facades. A lot of the work for Mr. Peanutbutter’s case is done by his actions and the events around him.] Like we saw with King Rhoam, the things that break a character’s facade doesn’t necessarily need to be people, BUT for the purposes of romance, it is much more interesting if they are.
The reason why enemies to lovers and foil characters are so often shipped is because you can already “sense” that potential for facade breaking in those characters. You can see how, when pitted against each other, or otherwise, they can improve the other.
But the thing is for relationships like Revalink, a character being a facade breaker doesn’t stop at just, being the character that breaks their facade. That is a different trope, like one you might see in Twilight or some Mary Sue fanfic--the perfect girl or whatever meets the badboy and the girl “fixes” the badboy and they kiss. That is not inherently bad, but it is the construction of one character at the cost of another’s. And that’s what makes Revalink so great, because you can clearly see that [in fanon, I should mention] shipping them still maintains the contruct of their character, that their flaws can still exist, and that their character arcs don’t necessarily clash to make room for only one, but instead intertwine and weave like two waveforms.
I’m not saying that it’s impossible for ships like Sidlink to have a “mutual facade breaker” format, but I will argue that Revalink is the best example of it. Link’s flaws is Revali’s strength. Revali’s mindset opposes Link’s. Revali’s facade is opposite and in direct conflict with Link’s. One believes that they don’t need anyone but themselves, and failure is only a consequence of them not being/trying enough. The other sees isolation as a burden, but takes it up anyhow because destiny says that only one hero can save the world. One hides truth and insecurity with a veil of arrogance and witty remarks, the other does it in complete silence. If you put these two characters together it is physically impossible for them to not break each other’s facade. It is literally impossible for them to not change each other in some aspect.
Interesting romance isn’t just about seeing how characters like each other and get together. I mean yes, Coffeeshop AUs and the like are all well and fun don’t get me wrong. But some of the most interesting relationships that get you really invested are the ones where characters break facades, where you can actively see and compare a character’s past and present and see how they have changed for the better. The art of breaking facades gives so much potential for conflict and tenderness alike. And when the story’s arching towards it ends, and Revali and Link are together, you can look at the writing and the process that led them there and come to a very earned conclusion that yes, “they were made for each other.”

So, speaking of links sister reader hcs, what do you think links relationship would be like with her and her in return with him? I’d imagine he’s probably like any other brother, being protective, but also having a good friendship with her. I think they’d both care for each other deeply and have a sibling bond similar to that of Sidon and Mipha. You think she might be less reckless than link? Or about the same? I also can’t help but picture that they’re just two goofy little Hylians that will probably challenge each other, (From sword fights, bow and arrow, or who can reach the cliff the fastest, etc etc) but the moment Link does something really reckless and stupid, (like wanting to ride a lynal) (Y/N) is either really worried or sarcastic like “No...don’t.,,stop...come back” It depends on the situation (also, this detail doesn’t matter, but I keep picturing the sister with a rapier sword like the one Zelda had in the first hyrule Warriors). I also imagine Link was definitely wary about his sister and Revali at first, but hey whatever makes her happy. (It would just take him some getting used to especially whenever Revali try’s flirting w/ her he just glares and leaves the room cause he’s not allowed to actually hurt the giant bird
(Also, Link is a sneaky little shit. I had a quest in AoC where it was girls only and they just wanted a friendly completion in gerudo town. I get all who I thought I’d get, then In comes Link with his gerudo outfit. Little butthead. I could just imagine he’s with the guys and they’re all talking, but wait where’s link? And you just see him full on sprinting to the competition In a gerudo outfit cause he wanted to participate. As Daruk and Revali just deadpan like “well, there he goes” as link thinks he’s gonna win, but lost.)
Okay, that's just way too funny.
This is the first time I write something not to do with romance, more like family.
I can't put it as a Link x reader because there's no way for me to write incest, but it isn't an Revali x reader tho
So I have to think how tf am I going to name this one, I already have a hard time with the last ones.
Also, I'm so sorry for taking a long time for doing these headcanons. I don't like procrastinating but I can't help it, even if I really wanted to write it.
I hope you like it ✨
Btw, it took me some time to choose a GIF for the hcs, they we're too silly or too badass or just straight up sad.
Link and (Y/N) being a pair of dumb but dangerous siblings
Link might be quiet but he do is a dumb ass, and I stan him for it.
You two are really quiet but you can read each other's mind.
Like, you can make plans with Link but there's no words shared, just stare.
You two challenge each other daily.
It goes from a session of sparring to f*cking fight a horde of monsters with a soup ladle.
When you fight each other in a session of sparring, it's like watching two gods fight.
Nobody knows who's gonna win.
The Champion make bets about who is gonna win.
Mipha, Zelda and Daruk normally go for Link.
While Revali, once again, Mipha and Urbosa go for you.
I thought of putting Impa on you but I don't know if she counts as a Champion.
Most of the times nobody wins.
But no one knows that because sometimes you seem you're gonna win, but then Link seems he's going to win.
It's so difficult to know it and you two seem like your taking ages of their life's for the stress you make them go into.
You two have at least one fan on the Champions.
Mipha and Revali, you know who simps for who.
Those two negate it like if that depends on their lives.
Also, the idea of the sword of (Y/N) being like the swords of Zelda is *cheff kiss* perfect.
You two normally practice together, but also separated.
Sometimes Link wants privacy and so do you, the two of you have no problem practicing for your own.
When one of you, do something reckless is mostly Link, the other one will just grab the other and never let go.
Link is always ready to protect you from any kind of danger.
But he already knows you can protect yourself.
Link doesn't need help when it comes to protect himself, but sometimes it's necessary.
You don't mind either to save your brother.
I'll say you're twins. The older one is up to you.
When you fight together against anyone, that person is in fear.
There is no enemy that can defeat you both.
Except, you know... Calamity Ganon in BotW timeline....
You two always take care of each other, even in battle.
Link has your back and so do you.
Not even a insect can harm you two.
Both of you have good reflexes.
When Revali started trying flirt with you, Link was always the third wheel.
It was always uncomfortable and weird, Link just stared at Revali all the time, that just make him even more nervous.
Your quiet nature make it SO DIFFICULT for the three of you.
Just imagine...
Revali trying to get a date with you, Link giving him a DEATHLY STARE and then there's you, just wondering what's happening.
Link didn't dislike Revali not a lot, but he didn't like that the short birb was flirting with his dear sister.
But he can't hurt Revali because you will get angry and they need him for defeating Ganon.
So, destroying his feather ass is not possible.
For now...
Link asked you if you liked Revali, you were surprised by that question.
“I'm not sure Link... I like when we spend time together but they're some parts of him that I don't like, I can't answer your question, just the future knows”
Link respects your opinion and doesn't insist on getting another answer.
When you start dating Revali, Link give him the most deadly stare in his whole life, if he dares to hurt you even a little...
He is making chicken roast that night....
Even if Link is kinda jealous that you're starting to spend more time with Revali.
He can't be more happy for you and how lucky Revali is for getting someone like you.
I feel like Mipha wants to use this opportunity to spend more time with him.
But his job as personal knight doesn't let him a lot of time for him.
I don't know about Zelda, she already passes a lot of time with Link.
I suppose this is a free pass to Zelda, since you go with them sometimes but in other things like visiting Gerudo Town or a really dangerous place.
But not even two princesses and a short birb, can break your relationship with Link.

Current Projects & Emoji Voting Key
Quick disclaimer: I’m a romance writer in all aspects of the term, so most of my works will contain mature content. Engage at your own risk, you know the rules, you’re responsible for curating your own experience of the internet, blah blah blah.
This post serves as a current mock up of fic ideas I’m either actively working on or considering working on next. You can drop me an ask about any of them, or just vote via the emoji combo I’ve assigned them.
Voting lets me know you’re excited about an idea and makes it more likely I’ll actually work on it. You can vote anytime, there’re no deadlines or winner announcements, just me gauging your interest by what I see in my ask box most often.
You can also ask me about the original stuff I’m working on currently. The current WIPs are Medusa centric and the emoji for them is: 🐍
Support my original work on Ko-fi and Patreon.
- Lupin: 🤑🤠💍 These are all oneshot ideas, between 5-15K each. If you want to vote for a specific idea, send me the emojis and the number of the idea.
Born from the idea that Goemon and Zenigata probably couldn’t be an item, my brain decided to come up with how I could write for them. Goemon’s teaching an ikebana class as part of his training, and Zenigata shows up as a student on forced recreational leave for his health from the ICPO. Zenigata wins the samurai’s heart through flowers. But what happens when Lupin and Jigen find out? (Only good sexy things, I promise. These beans are in a healthy polycule--be gay, do crimes) (WIP)
Jigen/Lupin, but it's Jigen deciding to seduce Lupin while wearing his own Lupin disguise. The thief is waaaaay too into it, and some artistry is taken with the sex so that they don't mess up the disguise too much during their encoutner.
Jigen/Zenigata/Lupin where Jigen has some fantasices about Zenigata, but is pretty sure they'll never happen. Tells Lupin about them. Suddenly the fantasies are coming true, in the middle of a heist, and Jigen doesn't what to do except get swept up in the moment and enjoy. Plot twist, it's Lupin dressed up as Zenigata granting all his gunman's dreams. Plot twist again, Zenigata catches them at it.
Zenigata/Lupin, where Lupin keeps doing good things in illegal ways and Pops has to find a way to punish him for it. Good thing for Pops Lupin's a masochist?
Trans!Lupin and Trans!Jigen premise: Jigen cares for Lupin after the master thief has top surgery, since Jigen has Been There and Done That. Caring, sweet, and a little sexy. Lupin is a much better patient than Jigen.
The one time Zenigata caught Lupin in an alley and kissed him and it was Jigen in disguise. Things get sexy anyway, and Zenigata has crushes on two thieves now. Lupin and Jigen "kidnap" him later for an evening of taking care of their inspector.
The background plot of Jigen's Gravestone where we see Jigen think he's done for and try to leave Lupin. Our thief has none of it, and we get to relish in the inherent eroticism of Lupin sitting in sniper fire, knowing Jigen's got his back. This is the moment I think Jigen finally believes he can be with Lupin forever.
I love the idea of something longer and more plot driven like a Lupin special where Lupin ends up in hot water and Jigen and Fujiko have to work together to save him. Jigen and Fujiko have such an interesting relationship. They're both partners of Lupin, they don't really like each other, they constantly screw the other over, but when it really matters they take care of each other. I'd like to see that highlighted a little more and also give them space to call each other out and bicker. Nothing sexy between them, but maybe a really interesting threesome with Lupin and Fujiko in a strap on once they save their boy.
- Sonic Vampire Novelist Coffee Shop AU: 📚☕💐
Shadow is an immortal vampire who has seen the world change for the worse too many times. These days it feels like he only lives for his coffee dates with Rouge, another immortal who loves each new era they encounter, warts and all. He has to admit that the book series she got him into speaks to him, at least. If someone in this era can understand him without meeting him, it can’t all be bad. But he hardly expected the goofy blue barista at the new coffee place to understand him the way those books do.
This is a novel length romcom romp with some big feelings about what it means to watch as things change, grow, and die. Expect lots of Big gothic feelings from this one, emotionally charged kissing, and overly-adoring sex. But also expect shenanigans from everyone in the coffee shop, which include Rouge, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Cream, and more.
- Sonic Blazamy, "Like the Sun": 💖🌸💎
Amy Rose has been in love with Sonic for a while.
Or has she?
When the Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Silver are trapped as the fuel sources for Doctor Eggman’s newest evil scheme, Amy teams up with Blaze, Rouge, and Cream to save them. With Sonic out of the picture and Amy fulfilling his role, was she ever really in love with him? Or did she just want to be like him?
This is a novel length epic romance with lots of competent women and lots of romantic Blazamy content. Expect flowery hopes and dreams, badass self-actualization, and glancing hand touches that give way to cuddly and sweet sex.
- Persona 5: 🗡🍛☕
After bringing down the Metaverse twice, Ryuji didn’t think graduating high school and figuring out what to do with his life would be so hard. Akira’s back in town, and the gang’s more-or-less all in Tokyo, but everyone else seems to have a plan while Ryuji just floats. How’s he supposed to change the world when he’s not a phantom thief anymore?
This is a novel length fic that addresses how powerless one can feel being just one person in the face of all the corrupted systems and bigotry the world has to offer. It’s about holding on to what you believe in, working through the doubt, and fighting your way to a better tomorrow with the power you do have. The whole gang is queer, featured relationships being Mako x Ann, Ryuji x Akira, Futaba & Yusuke as platonic life partners. Akira is polyamorous and omnisexual, Futaba’s asexual and aromantic while Yusuke is demisexual and very romantic, Makoto’s a lesbian, Ann and Ryuji are bi, and Haru’s pansexual, demisexual, and aromantic. They’re one giant band of queer Phantom Thieves, and even if they’re not really doing the Metaverse thing anymore, they’re still gonna save the world!
Also, I’m gonna make Makoto not a cop. That super didn’t age well. Zenkichi and his boss can work on making them better/abolishing them for other better organizations.
- Hades Game: ❤️🔥💀
Oneshot. I just really need to elaborate on the threesome you can have with them in-game, okay? Healthy and canon poly relationships are so few and far between, so often I have to do a ton of groundwork to explain why it’s working in the fic, but NOT WITH THESE KIDS!
Get ready for Meg helping Zag and Than be better at expressing their feelings, lots of kissing, and probably pegging.
- Castlevania Animation Trevor/Sypha/Alucard: 🧛🏰🛌
Castlevania gave Alucard a threesome last season, and I just really need S4 to give me him being taken care of by his partners. They’re probably not going to give it to me, so I’ll need to do it myself. This is just an everybody loves Alucard oneshot, with the gang’s signature banter (to an extent), Sypha being sexy, and Trever being remarkably sincere. This fic is gonna feel like that Ann Hathaway picture with Trevor kissing Alucard and Sypha holding the end of Trevor’s whip while she leans her head on Alucard’s shoulder adoringly.
- Devil May Cry Nico/Lady/Trish: 💋✨😈
Nico’s gay, okay? Like really, really gay. And Lady’s bi and not into men who make her pay bills, but very into women who make amazing guns for her and demonesses with hearts who fight by her side. Trish is ace, but loves people and is pretty attached to Lady at this point. Plus it’s cute when Lady blushes and says nice things like they’re insults. I don’t have super solid ideas for them yet, and I envision these more like a polycule where Lady’s with Nico and with Trish but they’re not with each other more than seeing it as a threesome, but who knows what might happen. This is probably 1-2 oneshots depending on ideas, but might turn into a series of oneshots if people are interested (or I can’t control myself and inspiration strikes).
- Post FMA:B Blind Roy & No Alchemy Ed: 👀👑🙏
This is actually an old novel-length fic I wrote ages ago and didn’t post that didn’t turn out well because I was new to writing sex when I first wrote it. The plot is good, and is all about Roy learning to work with his blindness to reclaim his ambition of being Fuhrer and changing the system to something that actually cares for its people. He and Ed reconnect, fall into bed, and both set about working through their respective traumas about being “useless” having lost their sight/alchemy. They go to Xing as an ambassadorial party to offer Amestris’s collaboration on Al and May’s Alkahestry experiments--and uncover a plot that might threaten both kingdoms.
- Age of Calamity continuity Mipha x Revali: 🦚🐟💘
The first time Revali noticed Mipha, it was in the heat of battle. She stole his mark, taking them down with a flurry of quick blows from her spear. Violence rained from her like water--and then she healed him on her way to her next battle. No questions, no conditions, just pure kindness. The usual need to measure himself against those around him was quiet in her wake. And Revali couldn’t understand it. But how to get to know more about her? A fish and bird may fall in love, but where would they live?
This fic could be a oneshot or novel length depending on how far down the hole I fall. I need it to cover time, but it could be done in linked vignettes or with actually covering events in detail. I may elect to do a oneshot just to get it done and out of my system faster. So much fic to write, so little time.
Expect trans!Revali, polyamorous Zoras, scary competent Mipha, songbird Revali, love confessions that are made up entirely of berating Link for not loving Mipha the way she wants him to, and breaking these characters a little outside of their assigned roles in BotW and Age of Calamity. Background Link x Zelda, and Urbosa x Zelda’s Mom.
- Epic desert romance about Urbosa and Zelda’s mom: 🏜🏝⚡
I just think Urbosa should kiss women and Zelda’s mom should get more development and maybe a name or something. Also, lightning imagery/metaphors/play.
It also went way over my head that Riju wasn’t Urbosa’s daughter the first time I played BotW, so now I want to write about the Gerudo queen who refused to produce an heir. The Gerudo are fascinating and have a very interesting cutlure, but I think it could be examined from a nonbinary perspective that rejected pregnancy and wanting to find a husband. Not in like a hateful way, but in a way that examines if that’s really right for everyone. There’s that shop in town that sells Voe armor, after all. Maybe finding a husband and having children isn’t something you have to do if you don’t want to. And Urbosa really doesn’t want to.

my top 10 botw ships bc i might as well jump on the bandwagon on @botwstoriesandsuch this is hilarious
10) urbosa/zelda’s mom. hate that they fucking buried our gays but theyre so soft and it adds so much to the story
9) robbie/purah. i can see it. chaotic scientist bisexuals. but what im seeing here as an alloaro is that theyre friends with benefits who also use each other to get out of boring parties so they can get back to their ancient tech
8) zelink. i love their dynamic in general which is why this is ranked so low, honestly i prefer them as chaotic bffs but they do make a good romance....two people connected across time and through fate to always be there for each other....i can see the appeal even if the whole “lover bonded by soul” is the opposite of my thing
7) paya/zelda. i like the themes of duty and tradition vs the new and different, what with paya being raised to be the leader of the sheikah and zelda’s whole entire thing
6) miphlink. like with zelink, i love their dynamic, link having a childhood best friends is just so sweet and again the themes of duty to the country vs people you care abt, but i enjoy these two as mlm/wlw solidarity not so much as romance
5) revamiph. honestly hwaoc made me ship it. the gentle healer w the prickly fighter. red and blue bisexuals. short people solidarity. the way they bridge cultures, social class, so many things to be together. theres something here
4) sidlink. both of them trying to move on from their past but feeling guilty about leaving the people from before behind, but Also carving a path toward the future with these new people they care about. both learning to open up to each other, sidon who refuses to show anything but optimism and link who refuses to show anything but strength. also the height difference is funny
3) zelpha. princesses in love! the contrast between the princess who is struggling with her power and her relationship w her father and is doubted by the people, but who despite it all tries to stand up for herself wherever she can and do the thing she truly loves vs the princess who’s mastered her power and has a good relationship w her family and is adored by her people, but can’t gain the confidence to just confess and be open with the person she likes and do anything purely for herself! it’s so so delicious and i am a simple lesbian.....
2) eggbot/sheikah slate. i can see a rivals to lovers dynamic here with how the two are both pieces of ancient tech that zelda obsesses over in turn, but then they grow to respect each other as technology with different functions that work in tandem. but also they do have potential for a hard and fast romance, with how eggbot literally awakens to the sheikah slate’s chime in that introductory scene. like they were created to work together. there’s also a lot of potential for worldbuilding with these two and what’s better than that. really you can make this ship be anything, with eggbot’s lightheartedness there’s humor and banter, but with its time travel abilities there could be angst about honesty and communication, it’s such a versatile ship. lastly i mean theyre nonbinary icons
1) revalink. i am a sucker for repressed gays figuring out their shit together. with how both of them are valued only for their fighting ability and nothing else, but with link it was thrust upon him with no choice and with revali he saw it as the only way for people to respect him. revali’s bitterness against link for being chosen by the master sword while revali had to work so hard for his status honestly feels so justified, but then you think about it from link’s perspective and how he never chose any of this and now people are depending on one child to do the heavy lifting of saving the world, how he felt so pressured by everyone that he literally wouldn’t speak - contrasting with revali’s verbosity, because well-read people are always respected. just. the two learning to share their emotions with each other and lower their masks to gain a mutual respect for each other’s abilities but also really caring for each other despite those abilities because that’s not what makes you a worthy person. it’s really touching and with the whole canon setup of “revali is dead and link is rescuing his soul” there are so many opportunities for angst i don’t even have time to detail, but revali’s snark and pretty much any personality you can give link, whether snarking right back or letting revali lose his cool by just not responding, plays off of it for hilarious banter.

Might I suggest putting a spin on hey there Delilah as a revalink song?
OOOH interesting choice anon 👁️👁️ iirc, this song was written when the plain white T's guy met this one girl and fell in love with her right away, so he wrote a song for her??? and i think she hated it because it got so popular LMFAOKFJDH so i'm gonna take a little inspiration from that
thinking about... pre-calamity revalink with revali who has just realized that he has developed romantic feelings for link somehow, and he is trying desperately to Not have them but he can't help it :) he won't admit it out loud, but link is one of the most stunning people he's ever met in the vast entirety of hyrule. as stone-faced as the knight is, link shines bright and warm, bright enough to rival the sun itself. revali thinks someone must have put a curse on him to be so enamored with a hylian, of all people. it's simply... asinine.
and maybe it really is a curse; revali is a rito and link is a hylian. they're two different species and while interracial relationships aren't really looked down upon in hyrule, a relationship between a rito and a hylian is unheard of. biological incompatibilities would make intimacy or even mating difficult... and to add even more to the tragedy of it all, it was no secret that princess zelda and princess mipha held the same romantic feelings for link as well. there's no way that revali could compete for link's hand against two princesses, ones that could offer link the entire world if he so pleased.
so in all his frustrations and lamentations of such a tragic romance (or i suppose a lack thereof), revali goes to the castle gardens with a harp. no one knows that he has one or that he has any musical talent at all, but it's an instrument that's loved dearly by the rito; ancient legends say that a rito sage of the past wielded a harp as well and so the tradition of learning to play the harp has been passed down to honor their ancestors. revali will never tell anyone that he can play, but he's pretty fucking good at it.
anyways. thinking about revali in what he thinks is a secluded corner of the castle gardens, beginning to pluck at the harp at random trying to make a melody to lament his frustrations, and the song he plays is basically Hey There Delilah (except it's about link and obviously the lyrics would be localized to zelda stuff. imagine what a hyrule-ified new york city would be like. also i think revali would not actually use link's name but some sort of pseudonym? goddess forbid someone actually hears him sing about link, he would absolutely die).
revali sings about how far away he feels from link both physically and emotionally, but that he can see right through link's facade and how he wishes that link would let him in. revali singing about how he would give link as much as of the world as he could in comparison to the princesses if link gave him a chance </3 and that even if revali couldn't give link the same riches and power, he hopes his love could rival that. revali lamenting about how link will never return his feelings, but that if he did, the world would never, ever be the same. that link would be to blame. KDFHDKLJFHLSJDKFH
and oh me oh my, guess who decides to drop into the gardens for a nice little afternoon walk just after revali begins to sing his little heart out? :) link loves a little tune so of course he's going to be drawn to the sound of music and singing, but when he realizes the person singing is revali... and that revali is singing about someone who will never love him back...
TEEHEE i'll leave it there for now but i never would have considered Hey there delilah as a revalink song! thank you for suggesting it, anon 🤍
#revalink#loz#botw#loz botw#legend of zelda#amihan's revalinkverse#ask#the other interpretation i had of it was revali singing hey there delilah as he looks after link in the afterlife#and that if 'oceans & engines' is link trying to call to revali in the afterlife#'hey there delilah' is revali's attempt to respond#what revali doesn't realize is that link is a very simple man#he doesn't need riches or power#all he wants is to SLEEP#and revali is a Very good pillow#USE YOUR ASSETS BIRDBRAIN!!!!!#also consider that the harp kind of is associated with zelda i.e. skyward sword zelda being hylia#so there's an inherently tragic parallel about revali playing the harp#when most prob perceive the harp = goddess hylia = zelda who's in love with link#idk i'm just kinda saying words now KJDHFKJDF#i hope this did something for you anon idk skdjfjdkf#should i have done like a song lyric analysis about this in context of revalink hmmmmm

i cant remembered if you said why, but what happened to mipha to make her susceptible to malice (part of me feels like you said astor meant to get someone else but i cant remember)
Everyone is susceptible to malice in someway, some are just more prone to the temptation than others. I don’t want to reveal the full mechanics of malice because that’s a spoiler that will be dealt with and properly explained in due time...but essentially, it’s like this:
Malice comes from people. Their bad memories, their trauma, their ill intent, the grudges they let fester; malice is the physical form of all of that. It is pretty much impossible for anyone to not have something within them that can form malice.
Malice can be collected from people, which is easiest after they die (See: one of the cipher scenes, where Astor follows the Calamity’s command to restock from the fallen Yiga) but it is arguable more powerful is malice is wielded by the person where that malice comes from. Astor wields a combination of his own malice, and collected. However, that plays into the Calamity’s idea for Hollows
A Hollow is someone who has all their bad shit converted into malice, but this time it’s not collected, it just sits there, as their own power. And power corrupts. Power whispers. Power likes to become absolute. A win-win for the Calamity. Calamity gets to mess around with a person’s mind and whisper things to them, and use them as his own personal weapon.
Yes, Astor first aimed for Revali, the most suseptable of the Champions, first, but Mipha pushed him because best girl. (Miphvali vibes...yes I’m trash. It’s not canon in this story though because I suck at romance) And this is always why the Calamity wanted Larc, someone who’s just brimming with malice potential AND is close to Link so they won’t immediately kill him.
I won’t explain how the malice affects Mipha in full or what specifically is festering with her, as again, spoilers! But you might have already notices that she and Revali are a bit more agressive and stubborn, particularly in a certain scene in #sibling fights hollow knights and destiny rewrites. Although because of their different characters, personalities, histories, etc, it’s more obvious with Revali, than Mipha.

Finished Hyrule warrior age of calamity...
And i loved it so much, but if my heart (read : biggest crush on zelda) is satisfied, my brain can’t help but think of a way to improve it (as always) so here are my thought under spoilers x) Feel free to ignore me, it is purely to play with scenario in my head !
First thing first : the base story ; while i do love the idea of time travel (it would be hypocrite of me to say otherwise as 80% of my fics plays with it) I do think it could be played on better in this story. For me the biggest flaw is that they don’t play on the “will they, won’t they?” that comes with time travel fix it, by stating immediately that Terrako (tiny eggrobot) comes from the future and is changing the future by its mere presence.
How to fix that -> This is probably the change that would take most of the work. First thing first, i would make the jump back in time further in the past ; enough for terrako to be seen as the “seer” that predicted the Calamity ganon’s return. Which happens i think (if i recall the lore right, when Zelda is around 7 years old, right after her mother’s passing). I think it would be interesting for 1 small prologue chapter to be about this. It will change the “twist” in the story endgame but the twist is, in my opinion, less important than the tension we couldget from the “will they/ won’t they” throughout the whole game.
In my mind it would go like this : we play King of Hyrule + Urbosa, background character Zelda’s mother and Hyrule’s chancelor (Astor but not you know, nt corrupted yet) as background characters not-playable (or maybe Zelda’s mother to show what it looks like to fight with the power?)/ probably having to protect them is the mission + maybe Link’s parents as PNJ solider battling alongside the characters and Cass’s master the Sheikah that sings balad in the Hyrule castle.
1rst battle (somewhere in hyrule) : The chapter starts with the reports of monsters becoming more and more frequent, and so the royal family investigates it. As it could be a sign of the calamity ganon returning (says the queen) the chancellor is doubtful : how many monsters is a sign? Do they have records about it? How can they know? Won’t they just put themselves in danger for nothing? Of course his prediction rings true and the monsters surround the place. They have to evacuate the town and organize strongholds around the town to protect it. (Introduction to Link's parents as hylian captains in charge) + King asking the Sheikah to go ask for reinforcement Zelda’s mother saying Urbosa is close. Then once the stronghold are in place, the purpose is to hold it until the time limit ends, when Urbosa arrives with her troops as reinforcement and they eliminate the monsters completely. Demo at the end of the battle shows the queen is looking around the place and finds terrako lying on the ground / in the ruins + the sheikah plate. The king and her decide to bring it to inspect it / offer it to her daughter as toys (to make the King of Hyrule a little bit more likeable through his relationship with his wife and daughter first in between battle), against the chancellor’s wishes.
2nd Battle (in the hyrule castle + castle town) : The Queen is teaching Zelda how to repair terrako with the help of the Sheikah chief (and maybe Purrah as kid and Impa?). Like in the story, Zelda repairs terrako and shows it to her mother, which says she is very proud of her. Terrako however runs away as soon as it can, and the battle is to catch it as it runs around the castle and causes havoc. Urbosa (who is here for a visit) has to catch it before the King of Hyrule notices it. Once the battle is over, the Sheikah can finally analyze the data within terrako. It brings the information that the calamity is indeed coming back.
3rd battle : The chancellor advises the king and queen to be careful, as sheikah technology had been buried deep for a reason (maybe bring up the lore of the Hyrule family betraying the sheikah and so the birth fo the Yiga clan). He says he believes in the common way to predict the future and asks to use a ritual to confirm the queen + terrak + sheikah’s prediction. He says it could be a trap from the Yiga clan. To prove him wrong, Urbosa goes spying the Yiga clan. (Idk what it could be, a mix of infiltration, kind of mission and battles? To capture a Yiga?) Anyways it’s Urbosa again with one Hyrule captain as a guest. In the meantime we are on another battlefield, where the king assists the chancellor in his ritual in the time temple on the great plateau. He has to protect him until the end of the ritual? (With the other hylian captain) At the end of the battle, baby!Zelda is lead to the battlefield because of terrako, when he reaches the temple of time some corruption seeks in during the ritual, while the chancellor gives of the prophecy that beasts are buried beneath the ground and that could help fight the calamity. It is unclear what caused an explosion : terrako’s presence or the corruption, or the ritual, or maybe even a yiga? Anyways something happens the queen protects Zelda and the king with her power. We skip places : Urbosa gets the news that the Queen and the chancellor has been killed.
End of the prologue chapter with a funeral demo. Adding Zelda acting dignified through the funeral. Someone in the crowd says it is sad, as the princess is young, and will probably not remember her mother at all. (To justify Zelda forgetting Terrako) Maybe a scene with young Link (with baby mipha here near to show they’re friend, among the zora delegation) being told by his remaining parents that he has to protect the hyrule family like the parents that were as a temple (and implied that died too) did.
Another addition i would put in the game is the possibility to go on inside the map without enemies in between battles (to look for korogu but not chest) ; and be able to purchase things here once the markets are opened/unlocked. It would allow people like me who like to see the landscape / comparison between breath of the wild and age of calamity to be satisfied. Of course it is optional you can go inside the map or purchase directly on the menu like you do today.
Let’s go back to the game.
So now after we go through the first chapter that is not changed one bit, Terrako appears like usual. The only difference is that during the first half of the battle, there’s a discussion between the King and an unknown soldier who says an old storage of the queen’s has been touched by the canon’s fire by accident (or maybe make a monster reaches the canon and adds a art where Link has to defend the canon from a monster waves). The soldier also says the magistrate impa went to check on the damage done and retrieve what can be salvaged (which explains Impa’s presence and her holding the sheikah plate) Which explains why terrako is lying on the ground later. You have access to missions in the hyrule castle.
Another change i would do for missions : some of them lead to small demos as a reward that deepens the information you get on the characters. Each character has at least ONE serie of missions that leads to demos. Also, there’s two series of missions that leads to the retelling of breath of the wild + ballad of the champion dlc demos. I mean it it’s very important. Once you complete these missions you get to see again the memories you had in those two games, with almost no difference (except some alteration you can notice oly when your rewatch it, like not wearing the champion tunic yet / not carrying the master sword yet, or terrako being behind from afar, providing the outside pov we had in there (like seeing Link and Zelda’s backs). Also some mission are accessible within a certain time range. (and it’s showed on the map, terrako icon is up and saying until which chapter you have to complete).
Anyways the first missions you get are :
(Epona serie) The king of Hyrule requesting says Zelda’s new horse is ready and to retrieve it to Malon’s ranch. >Later> Leads to Zelda having trouble with her horse and Link giving her advices (maybe leads to special mission where you are on horses’ backs, only being able to use Link and Zelda on horse’s back and later Revali, flying, and Riju with mme Patricia) >later> Leads to the demo of BOTW where zelda explains she will go pray to the wisdom source.
Other missions you could get :
(Link’s past serie) Adding a new quest for Link and his remaining parents to show the pressure he is under too.
(Zelda’s training) Adding new quest showing Zelda praying/meditating to show she tries. It makes Zelda prays in the temple of time, or other divine places (like the one in BOTW where there’s a giant goddess statue, or to ancient gods like Naryu..ect...), it ends at localizing the spring of strength.
(Romance serie optional) Adding a serie where the player can choose who Links ends up with. (Link has choices between Zelda, Mipha, Sidon) ; (Zelda can end up with Link or Impa -yes i’m sorry not urbosa, since urbosa knew her mom i think it’s for the best ><).
I have no idea for the champions, but you’re welcome to add/imagine one serie for them. Here are some other missions that could be added :
(Astor) -> This serie of missions is used to learn that astor = chancellor that has disappeared in the ritual on the great plateau. He was saved by the calamity ganon’s corruption.
(Sheikah’s ballad) -> This serie of missions is about Kass’s master and his unrequired crush on Zelda / hatred toward Link. You would have missions like helping him find inspiration for his songs, or protecting him while he travels with you.
Other details/alteration :
-OUTFITS are easier to get throughout the story and every character gets one. You cannot play the character in the zone until you get the right outfit for them and wear it (winter clothes for Zelda/Link/Impa in the Rito for example). That way people can customize their characters earlier. (For example Revali and Mipha need a special outfit in the field with lightning?)
-Also in the gerudo town map, only female characters can enters the town, you’re automatically switched off the male characters if you do venture in.
SO THIS CHANGE : the first half of the game is longer and makes sure the player wonders if the future of breath of the wild is going to happen still like it did.
For that here is the order of the previous games memories put in order (and modification added) :
1)Memory of Zelda snapping at Link for following her by king’s order. (Change is Link does not carry the master sword and is in his knight’s outfit).
2) Memory of Urbosa being requested to help through by Zelda/ King of Hyrule at the end of her recruitement chapter + scene at the end of it.
3) Memory of Darruk talking to Link at the end of his recruitment chapter (changes are Link does not carry the master sword and is in his knight’s outfit)
→ After Darruk’s recruitment there’s a quest that leads to Zelda’s discussion with Darruk featuring in the champion’s ballad.
4) Memory of Zelda’s meeting with Revali at the end of the chapter of his recruitment (needs ; everyone’s snow outfit, zelda’s horse quest completed - no change)
5) MIpha’s memory with Link happens after her recruitement.
6) Mipha’s conversation with Zelda in the champion ballad is held after her recruitement battle and Link’s awakening of the master sword. (no change) after a mission.
7) After Link gets the master sword, there’s a serie missions where zelda needs the ingredients to make the champion’s outfit. (You need to unlock the ability to dye armors too, and the blue color). it leads to two memories : the informal ceremony requested by darruk in BOTW, and the Ballad of champion demo where you are intronized by the king and later have a picture taken of the group. (Only alteration is that line where they say they have yet to unlock the other abilities of the sheikah plate, and you can see terrako looking at Impa taking the picture).
8) Revali’s memory with Link (botw) happens once Link has the master sword too.
9) The memory where Zelda asks if links hears the master’s sword voice happens in a serie where you improved the divine beasts + after a first mission with darruk driving his divine beast.
10) I suppose the memory with Yiga pursuing Zelda can happens during the chapter we fight Yiga / infiltrates them.
11) Same with Zelda’s sleeping next to urbosa. It happens once you’ve improved the divine beast + did the first operation with Urbosa using her divine beast.
12) The silent princess memory is here with a serie of mission dedicated to save it, like there is in the game already and the frog mission. You also have to complete all the previous memories stated before this one.
13) The Zelda’s training mission serie leads to localize the strength source and ends up with the memory where Zelda prays there.
14) The memory of Link and Zelda having a heart to heart under the rain happens during Link’s personal serie of mission.
15) The memory of Zelda helping Link after a hard battle on death mountains happens once you completed the serie of extreme fire missions that is already in the game.
16) The memory of Zelda having a fight with her father happens after the spring of courage disastrous mission and a series of missions that started after the 2nd battle of chapter 1 (where you fist fight a guardian) that had the goal to be able to use guardians. Once you have this memory you cannot do the mission about sheikah technology for a while.
Finally the last memory you have in this first half of the game is the one with the horse riding, right before the chapter where calamity ganon awakes. Where Zelda says she will go to the spring of wisdom tomorrow for her birthday. It is the end of the serie mission about epona and her white horse. (no alteration except terrako being seen at the end and maybe a skip to evil!terrako so we know why Calamity ganon is awakened sooner, because Astor saw this through him and so acted upon it)
Now that the first half is done, the game can continue like it had, with going full canon!divergence and the game is almost the same as it. The only changes i would do are :
-Adding a serie of missions WAY BEFORE (like in the first half of the story) where they find the shrine of resurrection, maybe even a battle mission on it before where someone is injured and you have to carry them there to test it.
-Altering Zelda and the King’s reconciliation :
1)When the castle is attacked, and the King is left behind : adds Link’s remaining parent by the king’s side and telling him to protect the princess at all cost to add a bit of emotion to Link too.
2)Then making the runs outside the castle another battle mission leading to the memory where Zelda breaks down in Link’s arm like in BOTW but ends up with Impa and terrako finding them, out of the forest and the scene we had where terrako sing the song to Zelda (+ seeing Revali’s divine beast in the sky) at the end.
3) Akkala’s fortress retaking takes place in the same way as before, once you rescued all the champions. But the reunion with the king happens right before the Hateno fort battle. He has been brought wounded there and you meet him mid battle while protecting the place. So the scene where the kind is already proud of his daughter BEFORE she gets her sealing power. The flash back scene happens here explaining he got saved by the metal part + adds a little bit of him saying he was afraid he would lose her to the sheikah technology the same way he lost her mother/ the chancellor...He is surprised by her leading the troop so well and retaking Akkala. Also it’s not sure he will survive yet it is said, and when she asks about Link’s parents he says they got separated and doesnt’ know if they made it. So the scene where Zelda panicks when Link is about to die and thinks of her father (and maybe adding Link’s parents) still happens. She unlocks her sealing power.
4) After the Hateno battle a little bit more is expanded by Yiga’s chief recruitment, and we can see the king is better but sees his daughter leading the battle proud. The great plateau battle happens, and instead of a reveal of the king being okay, he saves zelda from an attack at the end of the great plateau (and same scene, with him saying he is proud of her).
Here it is a satisfying reconciliation for me. The one we got suffers from the crappy redemptions arc tropes we always have “yeah now i’m okay since you got exactly where i wanted you to be and so i have little to change about my mindset” so nope. Nope. Big nope.
The rest i would change almost nothing, to the rest of the game. (Except maybe as i said missions quests where you learn more about Astor / About Kass’s old sheikah mentor who had a crush on Zelda / and a little bit about every character’s past, but that’s optional). The explanation for Zelda forgetting Terrako is the same as she doesn’t remember being called little bird or her mother’s face in te memories we have of her, as stated in the funeral scene.
And i’m done with “what i would improve in the age of calamity game” thanks for reading xD See you for the next game !
#hyrule warriors#age of calamity#spoilers#as always my brain won't let me alone#here is what i would change in the story#to make it slightly better#but don't get me wrong i loved it a lot

All Was Golden In the Sky
Summary: Sidon glared, baring his teeth at Revali. “Stay away from him.” In response, Revali tilted his head back so he could look Sidon directly in the eyes, glare, and respond “Not a chance.” OR Sidon and Revali are idiots who love One (1) Feral Elf Twink, Link and Zelda are done with their shit, and chaos ensues.
Notes: This was written for my lovely fiance @theotheralya!
Before he died fighting Calamity Ganon the first time, Revali had never quite managed to work up the courage to tell Link how he really felt about him. He had never really had the time, either, what with attempting to save all of Hylia from Ganon. Plus, Link had Zelda, Revali had always bitterly, harshly reminded himself when his romantic musings began to grow in his mind. He would not stand in the way of those two’s love.
And yet, Revali realized, now that he was alive again after being dead for 100 years, Zelda and Link had never loved each other at all. Oh, of course they were wonderful friends. No one would ever deny their deep bond of friendship with each other, even with their rocky start. However, neither had interest in the other in the romantic sense, Zelda having eyes only for Urbosa and Link having absolutely no interest in women. Revali felt immediately relieved when he learned this (he still had a chance with Link! Now he just had to work up the courage to ask him), but as soon as he realized this, he also realized something else horrible.
Sidon was in love with Link, and the prince seemed to have no issues showing it.
Thankfully for Revali, Link was an oblivious idiot who wouldn’t know romance if it smacked him upside the head. He never seemed to realize that Sidon kept asking him out on dates, always treating these meetings as just spending time with a friend. Revali was eternally grateful for Link’s lack of awareness of romance, because this meant that he still had a chance. He began to plot, planning out exactly what he would say to Link, how he would say it, when he would confess, where he should ask Link to in order to make his grand confession. His plan was foolproof and accounted for every possible factor. Of course, Revali forgot one particular factor.
Sidon.
The Zora prince seemed to be there whenever Revali tried to get Link alone. The first time Revali asked Link to take a walk with him, Sidon suddenly swooped in with a mission for Link to finish. The second time Revali tried to ask Link for a walk, Link smiled sheepishly and informed Revali that he had promised to spar with Sidon that afternoon. After the third attempt, Revali gave up on the walk idea and began asking Link to spar. That was also an issue, apparently, as became apparent when Link was dragged off by Mipha right before their first session, kidnapped by Sidon before the second, found by Zelda and coerced into helping her with an experiment during their third, and dragged by Urbosa into another sparring match before their fourth. Revali was beginning to become convinced that everyone did not want him and Link to be together, and he was beginning to get desperate.
Eventually, Revali just decided to approach Link and ask him out bluntly. He found Link in the corridor, chatting with Zelda, his laughter lighting up his whole face. Revali let out a small smile at that and began to walk forward, intent on professing his love, when he was stopped abruptly by the Zora prince.
“Greetings, Prince Sidon. What can I do for you today?” Revali didn’t really care if he sounded testy at the moment, he was busy and Sidon was disturbing him.
“You like Link, don’t you?” Sidon simply asked, golden eyes dark and filled with an emotion that Revali didn’t really feel like interpreting at that moment.
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“You’re very rude to him. I don’t like it.” Sidon wasn’t smiling for the first time since Revali had met him. “You insult him all the time. I don’t know why you act the way you do, but stay away from Link. You’re not good for him.”
Revali’s feathers positively bristled at that comment. “Well, you’re too soft. You don’t understand what he’s been through. You can’t help him through his panic attacks, you can’t help remind him of his life before the Calamity, and honestly, who the fuck do you think you are, telling me to stay away from one of my friends?”
Sidon glared, baring his teeth at Revali. “Stay away from him.” In response, Revali tilted his head back so he could look Sidon directly in the eyes, glare, and respond “Not a chance.”
________________________________________________
And so the war began.
Sidon would attempt to woo Link by bribing him with food and monster hunting, while Revali would try and woo Link more with pretty rocks and feathers. Link, the strange, feral Hylian that he was, did not seem to understand the purpose of any of these gifts, and instead insisted on repaying both Revali and Sidon with food. Revali was at the end of his rope, as was Sidon, yet both refused to be the first to back down. And so, they kept at their wooing war, despite the fact that the person they both wanted to woo was completely oblivious to their advances.
This all came to a head two weeks after the beginning of this Wooing War, when Zelda finally pulled Sidon and Revali into a back room to scold them for their behaviour.
“Why don’t you two idiots just ask Link out like normal people?” Zelda sighed, crossing her arms as she glared at both of them.
“He’s not going to accept both of us dating him!” Revali shot back, rolling his eyes. Honestly, Zelda was so intelligent, but sometimes she was just plain silly.
“And you know this how, exactly?”
“Well, because…” Revali trailed off, and he could also see Sidon looking just as confused. “... he’s never said he’d date more than one person?”
“Idiots, all of you,” Zelda groaned. “Just- just ask him, for the love of the Goddess.” With that, she spun around and stalked off, muttering about emotionally constipated men who wouldn’t know communication if it hit them upside the head. Revali and Sidon glanced at each other and shrugged at that. The princess had always been a bit weird.
___________________________________________________
Revali should have known that Zelda would take matters into her own hands at some point. Another week had passed since she had talked to him and Sidon, and neither had confessed to Link. Revali was planning another way to woo Link, involving bokoblin hunting, when Link approached him with a serious expression in his eyes. “Revali? Can we talk?”
“Hm? Oh, of course. What’s wrong, Link?”
“Do you like me?” Link’s face promised pain if Revali tried to bullshit his way out of this. Deciding to be smart and keep his feathers all intact as well as his life, Revali simply nodded in reply. “So why have you not told me before?”
“I was trying to figure out how to court you properly, but Sidon kept getting in the way, and I did not think it was appropriate to ask you without properly courting you first,” Revali answered, crossing his wings.
Link rolled his eyes and threw his hands towards the ceiling, beginning to pace around in clear frustration. Revali just watched, not willing to risk possibly losing a limb by interrupting Link.
After a few minutes, Link calmed down and turned to face Revali, hands clasped together and fingers resting under his nose. He inhaled before pointing both hands directly at Revali. “You are an idiot.”
“Hey-”
“You and Sidon are both idiots. You could just talk to me, you know!”
“Yes, we’ve established this. Is there another point to this?” Link made a small noise of frustration before he marched over, grabbed Revali’s head between his hands, and pulled him in for a kiss. Oh, it was awkward. Link had never kissed a Rito before, after all, and Revali had never kissed a Hylian. It was far from perfect, but somehow, that made it even more perfect. After a few minutes, Link pulled back with a goofy grin on his face.
“That’s the point,” he signed. “I love both of you, Revali, and of course I would date you.”
Revali swallowed at that. “So, are you saying yes to me, or yes to Sidon?”
Link’s face broke out into a smirk. “Revali, darling. I have two hands.”

Link is dressed in gerudo garb. Revali hits on him, badly. Daruk gives him shit for it, laughing at revali for a) being Bad at flirting b)not recognizing link. But ACTUALLY revali knew the WHOLE TIME and couldnt let that occasion to "accidentally" tell link he's hot.
Took some liberties with the prompt but enjoy
Gerudo clothing was unisex by definition, Urbosa had said, handing a set she had bought for the princess. And that was technically true, Link thought as he put on the clothes, his last change of clothes having been ruined during an incident with lizalfos. It was also true that the clothes were not without comfort, especially on such a hot summer day.
All this couldn’t negate the fact that the instant he stepped out dressed like that to feed their horses, every man around started hitting on him.
It was a small village, a hamlet really, and they had obviously never seen anyone as exotic as their set of visitor (exotic. Link felt ready to murder the next person to call him that). Those men dared not bother Urbosa, who looked too much like she could break their spine without breaking a sweat. Princess Zelda was dressed as proper hylian aristocracy and thus out of reach. Mipha looked a little young and only two teenagers had tried to bother her before Urbosa had stepped in to make it clear no one was to bother her.
Meanwhile Link was on his own, and seriously wondering if the Goddess would take back her divine protection if he were to murder the idiot who had just pinched his butt. He thankfully did not have to try that because Revali of all people flew to his rescue, kicking that man’s ankles to tackle him and defiantly glaring at the others.
“People, the lady is spoken for. Go look elsewhere and I might be merciful.”
The men all disappeared nearly instantly, rightfully worried at the idea of fighting an overgrown cucco. Link was about to thank the rito for his unnecessary but appreciated help, but when Revali turned to face him there was a glint in his eyes.
“And what’s a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this?”
Link stared.
What?
“Another traveller passing by, uh? If you’d like you could come with my group for the night so these idiots won’t bother you anymore. I’d love to get to know you better.”
Revali puffed his feathers proudly. “I am something of a big deal, if you must know. Heard of the Champions of Hyrule? I am one of them. A personal friend of the Chosen Hero, even. Yes, we are quite close. I taught him everything he knows.”
Link stared some more, glad he was wearing a veil to hide the smile he could feel growing on his face.
“Don’t go thinking I’m like this with every girl,” Revali assured his target. “My mission is all I have on my mind normally. But when faced with true beauty it’d be a crime not to admire, right? And you are certainly very fine looking for a hylian. Nowhere near as beautiful as a rito of course, but you do have some very shapely legs and nice strong shoulders. They’d take you far if you only had the feathers for it.”
By then even with his veil Link had trouble containing his hilarity and he had to look away, which the rito mistook for shyness.
“Don’t be a stranger, let’s have a walk together,” he offered, one hand on Link’s shoulder, giving him what he probably believed to be a seductive look. “I can show you a real good time if you’d like. A bit of… cultural exchange, if you’d like?”
Link’s entire body was vibrating with contained laughter while Daruk, passing near them, rolled his eyes.
“That’s Link, you idiot,” the goron grumbled. “And if that’s how you flirt, no wonder you’re still single.”
The goron walked away, muttering about the idiocy of rito archers. Revali’s hand remained firmly where it was on Link’s shoulder.
“Oh no,” he said flatly. “I have accidentally hit on him whom I despise most. What a mistake. What an irony. How will I ever live it up. My life is over. Woe is me.”
Link burst out laughing, tears forming at the corner of his eyes. He could barely breathe and had to support himself against a nearby wall lest he should collapse from the strength of his hilarity.
“Who could have guessed this blonde girl with calloused hands and a gerudo outfit might be the very same as the blond knight who travels with me and, among others, a gerudo,” Revali continued in the same deadpan tone, pecking gently at Link’s cheek. “Now everyone will think me attracted to him, which no one at all knew before.”
“Daruk sure doesn’t know,” Link puffed out, feeling he might choke if he didn’t stop laughing soon.
“I could fuck you right under his nose and he wouldn’t get it,” Revali replied in a dry voice. “We are talking about someone who thinks romance is giving away a slab of granite.”
Link’s legs gave away under him as his laughter doubled and curse Revali, but he was going to die like that, dressed as a gerudo, laughing too hard because his boyfriend was a smug idiot.
Well, there were worse ways to go.
