I think Buck's instant comfort with the idea of being attracted to men made it seem like he's just like "i kiss boys now! yay! all my problems are solved! no further thought necessary!" which is a very Buck thing to do, but 8x06 suggests it isn't actually that simple.

His relationship with Tommy now seems like it was holding him back from fully integrating his sexuality into his identity. Not because bisexual people in general need to sleep around to understand their sexuality, but because certified identity-sublimator Buck Buckley was using Tommy as a role model to shape his own queerness around, rather than taking any time to understand what it meant for him.

Everyone's kind of joking about Buck not instantly wikipedia-ing a bunch of shit the minute he realized he was bi, but Buck asking questions about Kinsey scales and researching queer history and using a specific "bisexual" label would only disrupt Evan's ability to subconsciously mirror the queerness that Tommy symbolized for him.

"Exploration" can take a lot of forms -- it doesn't need to entail sex or relationships -- but whatever it means to Buck, I think it's pretty clear based on 8x06 that he wasn't doing it. In other words, #letbuckfuck!!!! Literally AND/OR metaphorically!!!

here’s the thing. if you don’t like that oliver said to #LETBUCKFUCK you don’t understand buck.

buck has been and will always be a sexual character, and letting buck explore his new found sexuality in a way he enjoys is good. he just got out of his first queer relationship, he’s allowed fuck around.

buck has trouble with knowing what he wants in a relationship and jumps quickly to trying to take the next step, or will find himself deep in a relationship he never wanted. he’s had the convo before. take a look at buck and taylor. buck jumps to get people to move in cause maybe then they won’t abandon him.

maybe stop and consider that buck having a second whore phase isn’t about him becoming more confident in being bisexual, but trying to figure out what he wants from a relationship. or maybe he just wants to have fun after getting out of a relationship with a man that barely knew him.

buck has discovered who he is and is happy. he can go back to having sex and one night stands and not have it fall into the addiction or coping mechanism it was in season 1.

i swear some of you got so obsessed with tommy that you’ve forgotten key characterization of buck. get your head out of the clouds.

Sorry, y'all, but Lou saying this was meant to end (it just ended earlier than he anticipated) makes me agree with Oliver, Let Buck Fuck. I can't handle him getting his heart shattered again. He needs to break the cycle. Let him be messy. He is not a saint. And I'm tired of shows relying on bisexuals to be the moral compass. It's not biphobic to say you want your character to explore their sexuality with other people and not have a predetermined end game. Bisexuals have been bound to end games across so many shows, and that's fine. Yes, you can realize you're meant to be with one person. But not everyone, no matter their sexuality, necessarily has that happen in their first relationship, let alone their first queer one. Bisexuals with end games introduced early on have happened multiple times, and way too often, it has been said, "They can fuck around, but they have to come to their senses that this past love is THE ONE," and holy cow, that is totally not the norm in real life. Maybe it’s just me but I think something Buck needs to learn is a relationship can be real and serious and meaningful without diving in. This man is always asking people to move in (okay twice but he also just moves in with Abby) Like it’s hard to get out of lease contracts -moving in after six months is decently fast (not wrong or too fast but still)

I’m excited to see what “hobbies” he takes up and how he deals with another breakup. But I also wouldn’t mind to see Buck attempt some type of casual dating. It could actually be interesting to see him balance casual dating/hookups vs 1.0

I hope Buck never stops learning things about himself. I hope he stays open to whatever comes his way. That might be a new guy, a new girl, or (in my wildest dreams) Eddie. I want to see him feel comfortable being bisexual and his happiness with himself not tied to a relationship. I don’t want him to be comfortable because the person he’s dating is comfortable with themselves. I just want him to be happy.
