an introduction to daouoffroad: a record (mostly for me)

so, the lovely @luthienmpl was very kind and gave me a daouoffroad starter pack so i'm gonna learn about them!

i adore finding out about something this way because it's like someone shared their love of The Thing with me! how lovely! how lucky to catch a glimpse of how much joy The Thing gives someone else!!

this is literally just random stream of consciousness thoughts as i watch the videos so i'll spare anyone who isn't interested and put it under a cut.

Did I make a banner specifically for this post? Yes I did. This is a post to introduce you to Offroad Kantapon and Daou Pittaya who are currently starring in the BL Love In Translation. Get to know these two and their close soulmates bond through this post.

Let's start first with a short history lesson: Both participated in the survival show Lazicon (started airing October 9, 2021) and it was the first time they met each other. They became close in a short amount of time and you would often see them holding insta lives together. For a compilation of how they acted with each other during those lives as well as some Lazicon clips I made a fanvideo a while back. I never published it because it was just something I wanted to make for myself and one other person.

Now since the post will be long you can find the rest under the read more link.

One thing Offroad wanted during Lazicon was to perform in the final with Daou and some of his close friends from Insight Entertainment. This would have happened if Daou was fully recovered from having covid but he wasn't. So the performance was without him. Daou however was present through a video call. During a performance were all Lazicon contestants sung together Offroad looked at the screen, saw Daou and started crying. A timestamped video were you can see Offroad getting emotional.

Not in front of my salad! Straight to this point. If you watched my fanvideo or at least a part of it skinship between those two is pretty normal. However if you are contantly all over each other it can cause people to want you to get a room! Especially their band members. There is this behind the scenes clip of Rak Diao in which they made an appearance and check out the timestamped part. Watch for about 20 sec.

Close friends! Daou has some close friends. A couple were from Insight and they had no problem with spilling some tea sometimes. Frank who is now DVI said during a live with the boys and some other contestants "It looks like they are flirting". Daou is also close with Joong Archen and he also had some things to say. "What everyone sees is just a little bit. Joong saw a lot more than that". And he mentioned once how Daou has never taken care of someone like this before not even his close friends. Also during a live with Joong and Daou, Daou got called. Joong then was like "Who is calling? Is that handsome boy. The blond haired one".

Jealousy what's that? Anyone who has been in the fandom long enough knows how they talk to each other on twitter and IG. One thing is pretty clear, Daou doesn't like it when Offroad shows to much skin. And he will let it know pretty clearly. Ban hammer gifs, talking about how he has the full sized picture, trying to pull Offroad's shorts, you name it. When the trailer of Our Days was released Offroad appeared half naked in it a couple times and fans then took screenshots and put shirts on Offroad to cover him up. Atime26 even released an edited trailer with those shirts on twitter. The inpact! Most recently Offroad wore a shirt with tiny holes in it and Daou called it see through. And during a recent twitch stream of Daou a fan asked if they could buy a see through shirt for Offroad. They could, but fans can only look. Another recent jealousy example here!

Talking about each other! They talk a lot about each other. Good things but sometimes things can also get sad. I will start here around the time Daou posted that he had to go into the army (he had to enlist 1 November 2022). Offroad commented and said "Eat well. I wish you luck, no suffering, no call, no disease. 👏❤️ Send your heart to me. I love you so much. I will do my best here. Let's go". The last day before Daou's enlistment a podcast was posted by The Modernist with the Laz1 boys. There was also a written version and let me copy a part. One question that was asked was "Choose one person and tell him your innermost feelings".

Offroad: But if I want to talk to another person who is very special, that is, I want to talk about P'Wu. Because he was the only person in the group who saw me from the beginning. I want to say that my place is like this. What I want to say is that I want him to see that I'm getting better. (Crying so much that he couldn't breathe) I wanted to tell him that. I have been with him for a long time and he is another person who has fulfilled me to be here as well.

Offroad has said a couple times before that he felt like he was a burden to Daou because he felt like he wasn't good enough.

During the last day they also had last fanmeet. And when Daou grabbed the microphone to talk he put his arm around Offroad's shoulder. And then when he started talking Offroad broke down (video linked there).

And here someone made a tiktok about the enlistment.

They had to work in pairs after the first round in Lazicon and Daou picked Offroad.

Special person talk during EMF fandom live today.

Couple rings! Daou lied to Offroad and said his fanclub wanted to buy a ring so they needed Offroad's ring size. Turned out Daou wanted to buy couple rings. A fan found out it were Cartier rings worth 1500 euro's each. And Daou isn't even rich. During EMF fandom live today there was more couple rings talk.

This was for an interview with Mint Magazine. Full trans for the interview here. As a long term fan I was confused by their answer because for me it's always been a 10. Not sure how it could have gotten more.

Daou talking about how in BL series the characters at least have to love each other but that they don't have to force themselves since they already have a close relationship. Full interview here and you can use google trans on the webpage.

Couple song! Last part. Daou and Offroad's fandom name is Nubdao and they have a song called Nubdao which was written by them and which is about each other. Nubdao means counting the stars.

so yesterday I was at gotcha pop concert where I saw laz1 perform & today I decided to watch the currently airing bl with two of their members, and.......... TELL ME WHY MY FUCKING BABY NGERN (who played earn in love sick & who I have been WAITING FOR YEARS to make a comeback on my fucking screen!!!) IS IN IT???????? I would've watched it weeks ago if I knew!!! more seriously though, I missed that boy so much, almost cried when I saw him on screen 🥺

7 - Epilogue

3 months have passed and the group has finally debuted. They are called Laz1. They have prepared hard for it. In between the members also still had to study for school. And they made an appearance in the BL sitcom Rak Diao.

Pentor hasn’t spent that much time with Pluem. It’s difficult since Pentor is really busy and since Pluem is not in the group. So they make the absolute most of the time they do have.

For Daou and Offroad there’s no problems. They are both in the group so they see each other almost 24/7. Sometimes to the displeasure of the other members. Daou and Offroad will use every moment to hug, touch and kiss each other.

Daou got a cat. So Daou and Offroad are now cat parents. Offroad is a bit jealous sometimes. He sometimes feels Daou loves the cat more than he loves him.  

“Offroad why are you sulking” Daou asks?

“I saw you playing and sleeping with your cat earlier”.

“Offroad yes I love my cat, I do. But there’s another cat I love more” Daou responds.

“Another cat? Don’t tell me it’s Geler’s cat” Offroad huffs. 

“When it comes to this cat I hug, kiss and sleep with it every night”.

“WHAT? Are you calling me a cat” Offroad pouts.

Daou starts to laugh. O how much he loves Offroad.

Pluem and Pentor

Pluem has been texting Pentor a lot. Pluem feels a bit sad since he hasn’t seen Pentor that much. And he just wants to hug and kiss him. Little does he know Pentor has a surprise in store. 

Pentor has the weekend off. The company let them rest for a bit. He will use it to visit Pluem. He can’t wait to see his boyfriend again and embrace him in his arms. Seeing Daou and Offroad being all lovey dovey all the time makes him lovesick.

Pentor has already been in contact with Pluem’s mom so he knows Pluem is at home the weekend. 

It’s a nice sunny day and Pluem is outside in the garden when his phone starts to ring. He looks at the screen and sees Pentor’s name.

“Hey boyfriend what’s up” Pluem says.

“Hey lovely. I am calling you to tell you I sended a gift to you. It should arrive in a couple minutes”.

“A gift. Wow I wonder what that is. But the best gift would still be seeing you” Pluem says”.

“I know. But I gotta hang up now. Love you” Pentor says.

And with that Pentor hangs up. A couple minutes later the doorbell rings. Pluem walks to the front door to go and get his gift.

Pluem opens the door and is shocked when he sees who is in front of the door. 

“PENTOR YOU ARE HERE” Pluem screams while he pulls him into a really tight hug.

“Pluem I love you but you don’t need to hug me to death” Pentor says.

“Whoops sorry I am just so happy to see you” Pluem responds. 

They stay like that for a while and then Pluem invites Pentor into his home.

Daou and Offroad

What do you do when you have the weekend off? You spend even more time together. They went to Isaan. To go and visit Sai Thong National Park. 

“Wow Daou, it's so beautiful here. And look at all those tulips” Offroad says with a bright smile.

Daou loves it when Offroad smiles. It makes him all happy.

“Yes, those tulips are beautiful. But not as beautiful as you are” Daou responds.

Offroad begins to blush. Daou is never shy of giving him compliments.

They walk around further and they end up at this beautiful waterfall. 

After walking for 2 hours Daou suggests to go and eat something.

“The food here is really good” Offroad says.

“Yes it is. We should come here again someday” Daou responds.

“Next time we should bring Pluem and Pentor” Offroad says.

Daou nods. That sounds like a good idea. 

Pluem and Pentor

Pluem and Pentor are watching a movie and Pentor is all snuggled up against Pluem. 

“It feels so good laying here next to you” Pentor says.

Pluem is stroking Pentor’s hair.

“It is and I missed it so much. Having you here in my arms. Too bad I have to let you go again in 2 days” Pluem says.

Pentor knows. He wishes he could stay longer but his career is calling. 

“I know. So let’s make the most of the next day” Pentor responds.

When the movie has ended Pluem sees Pentor is sleeping. Poor boy must be tired from all the hard work. He gives Pentor a kiss on the cheek.

Daou and Offroad

They have finished their food so they decide to walk around in the town they are in.  

“We should get a souvenir to bring home” Offroad says like a little kid.

Daou smiles at the way he is talking. 

“Go find something you want then and I will buy it for you” Daou responds.

Offroad looks around the store they are in and soon something catches his eye. Daou takes it and pays for the souvenir. Daou and Offroad then head back to the place they are staying.

“I had a great day but my feet are killing me” Daou says.

“Well how about we snuggle up on the couch to watch something” Offroad says.

“Watch something? Why watch when we could also do something” Daou says with a smirk.

“Do something? What do you mean Daou?” Offroad says with an innocent smile.

“I’m sure a cat like you knows what I mean” Daou responds.

And with that he leans in to give Offroad a kiss. 

Pluem and Pentor

Pentor is the first to wake up. He feels a bit stiff. He then sees he has slept on the couch and Pluem is next to him. He smiles.

Pentor gets off the couch and walks forwards to the kitchen. He is a bit thirsty. And he might as well look if there’s anything in the kitchen to make breakfast yet.

Pentor hasn’t been up for that long and Pluem awakens. He sees he is alone on the couch but he hears a sound coming from the kitchen.

Pluem gets up and walks forwards to the kitchen. He sees Pentor is making breakfast.

“Hmmm I see I have an attentive boyfriend right here. Or should I say food lover” Pluem says with a smile.

“Hey why does everyone keep saying I love food so much” Pentor says.

“Because maybe you do”.

Breakfast is ready so they go and eat.   

“What do you wanna go and do today, Pentor?” Pluem asks.

“Well I don’t know much about where you live. So how about you show me around” Pentor responds. 

“Hmmm I can definitely do that for my love”. 

Pluem first tells him about the surrounding area. He also lives nearby an old fishing town where you can take boat trips. Pentor likes the sound of that. A boat trip. 

The boat takes them around some beautiful scenery. 

“Wow I love where you live. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. Meanwhile I am staying in busy Bangkok” Pentor says.

“Well sometimes you have to sacrifice some things for your big dream. But this could be your getaway place then when you have time off” Pluem responds.

Pluem is right. This could be his getaway place, Pentor thinks.

After the boat trip they found a place to eat.

“The view from this restaurant is beautiful” Pentor says.

“It really is and the food is also good” Pluem responds.

Daou and Offroad

Offroad wakes up and then looks at Daou sleeping. He looks so peaceful. Last night was definitely fun though. 

He sees Daou waking up and stretching his arms. Daou then accidently hits Offroad.

“Daou what did you do it hurts” Offroad says.

“I am sorry, cutie. I forgot for a moment you were next to me” Daou responds. 

“You better make it up to me”.

“Hmm what do you want? A kiss? Or do you want something more?” Daou says, smiling.

“I am in love with your kisses so I wouldn’t say no to them”.

“A kiss it is then Offroad”.

Pluem and Pentor

The day has come to an end. One more night and Pentor has to go back. Thinking about it makes him cry.

Pluem sees some tears falling from Pentor’s eyes.

“Pentor, what is going on?” Pluem says while bringing his hand to cup Pentor’s face.

“It just makes me a bit sad when I am thinking of having to leave” Pentor responds.

“It’s okay Pentor. I get it. I know it’s hard but we will make it through”.

Pluem then leans in to give Pentor a kiss. It’s a soft and sweet kiss. 

“Are you sure Pluem? Do you really think we can make it and not drift apart?” Pentor says in a sad voice.

“We can always call, text and zoom with each other. We can make it work” Pluem says.

Pentor hopes Pluem is right. 

“Let’s go and sleep in each other's arms” Pluem says.

Daou and Offroad

“So Daou, what do you want to do today?” Offroad asks.

“Well something that doesn’t end up killing my feet” Daou says while laughing.

“How about we go to the Mekong river? We can take a boat trip. And I heard they have a night market and some restaurants with live music” Offroad responds.

“That sounds like a great way to spend the day” Daou says.

So off they go.

The boat trip took them also though a part of Laos. Daou saw that Offroad was smiling the whole trip.

“It’s so beautiful here Daou. I am glad you suggested we go to Isaan” Offroad says with a big smile on his face.

Seeing Offroad smile makes Daou happy. Offroad deserves the world.

After the boat trip they went to find a restaurant to eat at and to enjoy the live music. The food was good and they decided to walk around to wait for the night market.

They ended up buying some more food to eat at the market and another souvenir to take home.

The day is coming to an end so time to head back to the place they are staying.

“Today was great. Sad we have to go back tomorrow but glad I got to spend the weekend with you” Daou says.

Offroad feels the same way. And he still can’t believe he found the love of his life at a competition to form a new boyband. 

“Well even when we have to get back we will still see each other almost every day” Offroad remarks.

“Yes and I am glad. I couldn’t imagine being in the band without you Road” Daou replies.

Offroad just feels so loved.

They decide to head to bed since they have to get up early to leave. Back to Bangkok. Back to Laz1. Back to their dreams.

Pluem and Pentor

The alarm clock goes off. It’s early but that’s because Pentor has to leave early to Bangkok. Pluem wakes up, looks at Pentor and gives him a kiss on the forehead. 

Pentor turns his head and looks at Pluem.

“I wish we could stay like this Pluem” Pentor says.

“I know Pentor,  I know” Pluem responds.

They get out of bed to get ready. Pentor already packed most of his stuff the night before. While packing his last stuff Pluem is preparing a quick breakfast. Pentor should not leave on an empty stomach.  

Pluem sends Pentor off to the train station. It’s a 2,5 hour train ride back to Bangkok.

While saying their goodbyes Pentor is about to cry. Pluem sees his face.

“Please don’t cry or I will cry too” Pluem says while holding Pentor’s hands.

“I will try not to” Pentor says with a light smile.

Pluem gives Pentor a kiss and then it’s time for Pentor to take the train.

“Call me as soon as you get back” Pluem says.

“I will” Pentor responds.

Pentor steps inside the train and the train takes off.
