HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GALACTA KNIGHT!!!! And congratulations to Meta Knight for experiencing the Cain Instinct for the first time.
Galacta Knight, as you might've been able to tell already, is one of my favorite characters, and KSSU is one of my favorite games (the original SS was my introduction to Kirby!) so I wanted to go all out. Happy day, old man. I pray for at least 20 more years.
Oh, and don't worry! He's not upset about the cake smash, he thinks it's funny. And he got back at him.
As for the in-universe explanation for there being 16 candles in his cake?
... 500+ didn't fit in safely.

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH + BAND OF BROTHERS:
JOSEPH "JOE" RAMIREZ
Born October 5th, 1921, in Nebraska
Died April 8th, 1988 (age 66), in Martinez, California
Joe Ramirez enlisted in September 1942 (age 20) in San Francisco, CA, and he trained with Easy Company at Toccoa. Holding the rank of Private, he served in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne. He was hospitalized in January 1945, and discharged in July 1945. After the war, he was married for many years, and had children and grandchildren. When he passed away he was buried with his wife, who had passed away 11 years earlier. Further information about him is scarce, but the brief character profile in the Band of Brothers series bible describes him as Mexican-American, and his personality as "sensitive and nervous."

#little pet peeve rant#ive got an extensive background in dance and seeing the memes about the breakdancers in the olympics sucks#like it takes so much training to do half of the things they do and to see it minimized to 'my dog in the yard' and 'give me a drink and i#can do that' is just like. come on.#like realistically it doesnt matter but it irks me just enough#its like the modern art 'i couldve done that' thing#and i think its only bothering me so much bc dance hasnt really had a place in the olympics#and seeing breakdancing getting this opportunity is just so cool#and breakdancing also has an extensive history in african american latino and other immigrant culture#so to see it mocked like that just stings enough to see all of that carelessness for the context around it

my natural instinct is to speak Spanish to Africans and I always lean towards Spanish pronunciations when trying an African name I am unfamiliar with. I really hope that I someday actually meet someone from my country this way lol

#why is this family of immigrant laborers from southern china (given the 1840s-1860s background) speaking mandarin#when realistically they should have been speaking Cantonese?#this trend of western Chinese-descendants telling stories about traumas they didn't experience while erasing languages and experiences#that non-Han Chinese people and other asian people have gone through is very weird#especially concerning since it's done by otherwise very knowledgeable and inquisitive writers#like why are PoCs in this book treated like faceless background characters (despite this being a diverse take on the Wild West novel)#with magical and Good connection to The Land#while the white villains are nuanced and extremely detailed? it's also clownish to paint the white characters as overwhelmingly rich becaus#of their exploitation of The Land - which the PoC characters seem to find abhorrent and oppose to - when capitalism is a sickness that#catches everyone and the white protestant man#while more powerful than the black or latino man#was /also/ made to sweat and spit blood on a land that gave him nothing#no war but class war but I guess that's too hard to fathom!#(good book with strong plot choices here and there - the dad pov chapter was very very good and deserving of its own book imo - but yeah. i#was made for a puzzling read at times)#literature#how much of these hills is gold
