Looks like my 12 year old laptop computer is finally saying goodbye :(

The internal microphone has been broken for a long time, as has the wifi adapter (although that might be an OS issue since it 'broke' when I switches to linux because the new windows version was getting too heavy for my poor old computer, and also I was fed up with being forced to upgrade), one of the usb jacks has a loose contact, and the battery doesn't last longer than a single digit number of minutes.

Then lots of booting errors in the last few weeks, and now the LAN cable jack has stopped working.

Maybe I need to get used to the idea of replacing it... At least even if I buy the cheapest refurbished computers I can find, they're still going to have two times more RAM and processing power than what I have now, for half the price of what the notebook cost back then. It might be neat to have access to a windows computer too again, as wine never worked well for me. But then I'd surely miss linux. I like linux. Maybe I'll partition the hard drive?

I'm kind of amazed my laptop even made it that long. It does still work for stuff like writing, listening to my music, and it connects well to my printer via usb, so maybe I'll keep it around for this kind of stuff. But I do want a computer with which I can access the internet.

(My current backup computer is an even older tower pc with a minimal linux on it that I got for literally 10 € when my former institute at the uni threw their away their PCs because they were too slow for windows 7. So ... I can open 1 program at a time on that pc, and 1 website.)

Arduino Due AT91SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 Board

The Due is a microcontroller board based on the Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 CPU. The Arduino Due AT91SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 Board is the first Arduino board based on a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller. Arduino Due AT91SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 Board has 54 digital input / output pins (of which 12 can be used as PWM outputs), 12 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 84 MHz clock, an USB OTG capable connection, 2 DAC (digital to analog), 2 TWI, a power jack, an SPI header, a JTAG header, a reset button and an erase button. The Arduino Due AT91SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 Board contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a micro-USB cable or power it with an AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. MSI Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport A13VG Gaming Laptop

MSI just unveiled the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Edition of their Stealth 16. The laptop retains the 13th-generation Intel Core i9 engine and RTX 4070 graphics for its OLED display, but it has a new "aesthetic" appearance and unpacking experience based on its legally licenced branding. According to the OEM, this will result in a "luxury gaming experience" mixed with "extreme performance." MSI previously announced a collaboration with Mercedes-AMG to develop a motorsport-themed version of the Stealth 16 (or A13VG-236) in 2023. The "luxury" gaming laptop has now been released on the US market, approximately 3 months later. This limited-edition 16-inch laptop features a 16:10 4K (or 3840x2400) OLED display powered by the Core i9-13900H processor. However, unlike other Stealth-series models, it features MSI x Mercedes branding on its lid, as well as matching emblems. The PC also comes with a "exclusive, designed colour" retail box that holds complimentary accessories such as a mouse, a mousepad, a USB stick, and even a cable tie, all of which are meant to "enhance the luxurious experience" that the partners want to achieve with this partnership.
