I have talked on here about how much I love my Souper Cubes set that I got (and I think @thebibliosphere has mentioned them as well). They're a GREAT tool for meal prepping in single portions, which has helped a TON with my various neurodivergency related food issues.
I just learned that the owners of Souper Cubes (which is a small business), lost their home in the LA fires. I believe they may have also lost some sort of office or warehouse space?
Either way, if you want to support a small business that's trying to get back on their feet after the fires, maybe consider buying a set of Souper Cubes. There's even stuff for sale on their site right now! They've even got a tray for specifically freezing cookie dough in single cookie sizes so you can just pop a single cookie in the oven whenever you want.

.....AS IF IT'S FOR CHARITY, ADMIT YOUR FEELINGS, BILL!
He would never admit to anything, would he?.... :(
Can this count as a second Valentine's day post? ...I'm counting it.
Two hat-ed Bill should be praised!

Historic wildfires blaze through LA months after the Democratically-run city cut fire service funds.
News headlines rhetorically ask us to consider what happens when CA inmates - working as firefighters for roughly $6 per day - cannot contain unprecedented fires.
Billionaires drain the already water-starved state of its supply as hydrants dry up when needed most.
This system has to go.

Lofi Cali Girl - beats to relax/study to during the climate change apocalypse. Lots of people have messaged me with well wishes for the LA fires. I'm lucky enough to live in a different part of California (in the SF bay area) so please do not worry about me. I do used to live in LA and have a lot of friends who live there still. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. For the people whose houses did not burn down, they still surfer from horrendous air quality caused by the fires. The house I lived in during my teenage years is right next to the Eaton Fire, and it's so scary to think about the what ifs. I painted the Lofi Cali Girl drawing during the 2020 wildfires that affected the SF Bay Area and turned the sky red. Since then, I repost this every time another disastrous fire ravages my state. Small wildfires are a normal part of the CA landscape, but these mega fires are not. These are caused by climate change. For the 2020 fire, it was a dry lightning storm that ignited over 2000 wildfires in the middle of our dry summer. For those not familiar with California's climate, we almost never get lightning storms, especially not in the summer. For the 2025 LA fire, it was caused by a dry winter when we would normally get winter rains, and by 100mph wind that spread the fires faster than anyone can put out. This is not normal, and no amount of controlled burns or regular fire prevention could have prevented this. This is just the beginning of the climate change disasters. Some people say this is the new normal, but the reality is things will only get progressively worse. Whatever "new normal" you think this is, just know it will be even worse next year, and every year after. What can you actually do to help the most? For Americans, it would be vote for climate friendly policies and politicians. The 2024 election just ended with a grim outlook for our climate future, but don't give up. There are local elections, and the 2026 midterm elections for House and Senate. All of these can make a real lasting impact on the future of our planet, our one and only home.

So cool that the east coast of the US is experiencing a record freeze while the west coast of the US is on fire… so fun, and not at all indicative of climate disaster!

"When Canada was fighting wildfires in Alberta, Quebec and British Columbia in 2023, blazes that would go on to eventually burn more than 45 million acres, more than 2,000 American firefighters helped extinguish the flames.
Now, Canada has returned the favor. It is sending air tankers and dozens of its own battle-tested wildland firefighters to Los Angeles, its government said. Air tankers can deliver thousands of gallons of fire retardant or water to wildland firefighters on the ground.
More personnel and equipment from Ontario, Quebec and Alberta are ready to be mobilized, according to government officials. And a team of senior technical staff members from British Columbia will fill specialized roles, the government said.
“We both know that Canada and the United States are more than just neighbours,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on X on Friday. “We’re friends — especially when times get tough. California’s always had our back when we battle wildfires up north. Now, Canada’s got yours.”
Mexico quickly followed, dispatching a crew of firefighters early Saturday to help the huge deployment already underway.
“We are a country of generosity and solidarity,” President Claudia Sheinbaum said on X. Ms. Sheinbaum said that the group was carrying “the courage and heart of Mexico.”
Before departing Mexico City for California, the Mexican firefighters held the flags of California, Mexico and the United States on the runway.
Mexico’s civil protection agency said that “cooperation has no borders” and that the mission reaffirmed “its solidarity with the people of California.”
Gov. Gavin Newsom of California said that he was grateful for the support from both countries."

really depressing as hell that people are clowning around about these fires. especially the Eaton fire, these are normal neighborhoods, with families that have lived here for many years. it's not just millionaires vacation homes burning down. especially pasadena and altadena, many parts of them are historically black neighborhoods that date back to the area as an industrial hub in the early 1900s. and almost all the public schools in Pasadena are title 1, meaning they serve student populations at or below the poverty line. these are my neighbors, this is my neighborhood. and it's all gone now. Also!!! the news keep on rolling the same footage of these mcmansions on fire, but won't show the apartments (like mine) and small homes that are burning and gone. it's unbelievably tragic
