Chic antique summer kimono with kotoji (koto bridge) and kumihimo (breaded cords) over akikusa (autumn plants) calm blue ground.
I wonder if the cords over the 絽 ro fabric (a type of open weave used for summer items) is supposed to mimic misu (bamboo blinds):

Making/finishing a necklace. Kinda proud that nearly every part of this, excluding the findings, is something I made. It's the little things.

Just sharing my Kumihimo journey~ One of my absolute favorite crafts! I know many people use Kumihimo (knowing or unknowingly) for friendship bracelets, but these cords are DURABLE, I use them for all sorts of things all over the house 🤭

One of them became a favorite bracelet of mine~

These were all made last year and already I can see a big difference in my hands looking back at these images, absolutely wild. Alt text and random info attached to the images.

To whom it may concern I invented a little stitch counter for kumihimo weaving because I can’t remember where I am in a pattern to save my life
Tumblr media
Just some cardboard, yarn and as many beads as you need for that pattern

FINALLY GOT THE PATTERN NAILED DOWN!
Tumblr media
It has to be set up like this to get the 4-color Kongo-S* spiral I was looking for. Grouping it any other way won't result in the spiral I wanted!
*Setup is identical for the Kongo-Z and Kongo-S&Z methods.

Hey folks, long time no update! Sorry about that!
As you may know, I've been working on my academics for a bit (started a degree in Secondary Education last month), and it's been keeping me pretty busy. As it turns out, college is pretty hard work! But I wouldn't be posting just to give my moshiwakes, I've also been working on a couple other crafts and I figure y'all might be into these too!
I've been working on making braided bracelets for some of my coworkers (just a really nice zen craft for long public transit commutes).
Tumblr media
If you're curious, this pattern is called あんだくみ(anda gumi, flat braid). And the one in the background is a bit of an experiment with irregular patterns and rougher threads
Tumblr media
But that's not all! I've also started playing around with stitching and patching!
Tumblr media
(bonus points if you can name the reference here)
But yeah, I guess all I really wanted to say is to have fun! Experiment with things! I'll try and get back into making CAS soon, but in the meantime I figured it was worth sharing my current creative projects!
Here's to a bright future, and I hope to see y'all there!

Hey Guys,
Back with another post!
I always love making kumihimo projects because the process of weaving is actually quite therapeutic and relaxing. Beaded kumihimo is what I love the most but now and again I like to switch things up and increase the number of cords I use. You can create some really intricate patterns that way. Anyway, here's the bag charm, I love how it turned out!
I hope you like it too!
Enjoy! Until next time, keep creative!

Did I teach myself how to make a kumihimo braid just because I started watching My Happy Marriage today?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes. Yes, I did. It's thin and not the same pattern or exact colors, but for what I had on hand, it's not terrible for a first try. The method is surprisingly simple, just 8 steps repeated again and again.
Tumblr media
I cut the disc out of cardboard. I had to change the numbers to match the diagram (pen is the final arrangement).
Here is the finished design! I lost it at work so I'll have to make a new one...

So I've been using my triple latch hooks to make eyecord, then using that eyecord to make kumihimo necklaces, which are now up on my etsy! Take a gander if you please

Two more kumihimo, this time from a gorgeous sunflowery yarn by @craft_by_bella 😁 They have specially dyed some of this yarn for me so I can make some crochet works for my Sunflower & Citrus Collection. There are two as I have kumihimo’d one with random colour and the other by lining up the gradient across all eight threads. I have plans to play with more patterns 😁 I might be slightly kumihimo crazy at the moment 😁

Ok, the braids are coming along nicely. :)
It’s slow work but I love this pattern.
