The Kruger Station is part of the exciting Kruger Shalati Train on a Bridge hotel project comprising a modern and artisanal food experience on the vast station platform where the original SA Railway Class 24 steam locomotive takes centre stage. This area is open to all visitors to Skukuza to enjoy a meal or a drink. The old train coach coupled to the locomotive is a private dining area that can seat 16 guests. The coach can be booked for special occasions or celebrations, while restaurant 3638, named so after the locomotive, is a 95-seater casual-fine dining experience that should be experienced at least once during a Kruger visit. The station space, which also includes a deli, coffee café, wood-fired pizza and a relaxing atmosphere around the open-air bar, is inviting and open to any and all Kruger Park guests.

Kruger Shalati Train LodgeWhen all this craziness is over, you will probably want to escape to somewhere special. Well, the Shalati Train Lodge is quite unlike anything we’ve seen before. Located on top of a disused railway bridge above the Sabie River inside the vast Kruger National Park in South Africa, sits a restored train in its stationary position that has been converted into a comfortable lodge with 24 rooms complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, a lounge carriage with bar and deck and pool for relaxing, and lounging space with game viewing opportunities from the vista atop the river. All rooms will offer guests a high-star rating luxury experience, and will be accompanied by fine dining and other leisure experiences onsite. The Kruger Shalati will open its doors in September 2020.

Permanently stationed on the historically-rich Selati Bridge above the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park, South Africa, is a repurposed train.

The glass-walled train rooms, consists of 24 carriage rooms and seven Bridge House rooms, all tailored for immersive comfort and take in the views along the river. High above the riverbanks, aligned with the floor level of the train, lies a deck with pool, offering a swimming experience no other – with crocodile, hippos, buffalos and elephants greeting guest’s meters below.
