An Interview With Dani Michelle.

‘Have you always known you’ve wanted to be a stylist?

I learned about styling when I was 17 working at Seventeen magazine. Back then, the job of a stylist wasn’t as well known; I didn’t even know it existed. Once I did, I had my eyes set on that.

How did you get into styling?

I started working in the accessories department at a fashion magazine in New York. I then moved to L.A. and found myself in Barney’s assisting a stylist just five days later.

What was your first job out of college? And what followed that job?

My first job out of college was assistant to the stylist of the Jonas Brothers. We worked on their tours, appearances and photo shoots. From there, my career bloomed.

You’ve worked with A-List celebs, such as Carrie Underwood, Kate Upton, and Justin Bieber, and with models for the biggest fashion magazines out there, such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, and GQ, major campaigns for brands, such as Adidas, Converse, and Coke – what is it like working with these clients?

Working with major talents and companies comes with a lot of pressure. You want to be the best you can for your client, providing everything possible to make their vision come to life. For me, bigger the client, the higher the expectations. I give 100 percent into anything I do, big or small; our work is never easy.

How’d you start working with Kendall Jenner?

Through the years, I have had the privilege of creating and working with many of the [Kardashian] sisters. Kendall and I met on-set, actually a few different sets, and every time we were together, we would have these little creative moments that felt synergetic and collaborative. Timing in life is everything, and while we met in 2018, we didn’t officially start working together until 2020.

What are trends that you (and your clients) have helped drive?

I’ve heard from designers that their websites have crashed after a client wore their jacket, or from luxury labels that sold out worldwide after an earring was worn. I’ve seen tops they’ve worn from small brands get mass-produced. I’ve seen runways styled in ways that reflect the way we styled it.

Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere. All social media, my friends, magazines.

For someone wanting to break into this industry, what advice would you give them?

Make sure this is something you really want to do. Succeeding in this business means years of unpacking, checking things in, emails, appointments, slugging loads and loads of garment bags, and late nights organizing. The magic on set or the red carpet is only a few minutes long.’

Dani is the well know stylist of both Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner, she is also know as being the stylist with a fistful of rings as well as having gold filled lobes. She created Méga after wanting to find jewellery pieces that could be seamlessly styled together. “My style has always been wearing stacks and stacks of rings and people would always stop me and ask ‘where are your rings from?’” says Michelle. “It was such a culmination of many different pieces, and it wasn’t just one brand that I felt like had everything.”

Michelle designed her affordable collection to have vintage undertones and work harmoniously together. “There was a gap in the market for an accessible brand that has this elevated cool, chic look, and I wanted to create one that the whole brand felt that and not just a segment of that,” says Michelle. The name came from a Vogue article from 2022 in which the writer described Michelle as a “megawatt stylist.”

Michelle brought a stylists’ sensibility to her company, while many other jewellery labels focus on highlighting single pieces. Michelle carries a secret superpower in her work, whatever her clients wear sell out, credits will be rabidly sought after, or that the trends are replicated. Perhaps that is because Michelle understands the art of worldbuilding, and how everyday people seek to buy into that elevated world. “The excitement isn’t in the actual garment but it is in her whole entire message and each of these pieces are part of her story versus making her story,” says Michelle. Méga follows that same styling ethos: Everyone can purchase a pre-styled, cool girl jewelry stack courtesy of Michelle’s eye. “I really wanted to parlay my styling experience into it. I love what styling is; it’s finding balance in design and I think that making a ring stack is the same thing,” says Michelle. Just as she does with clothes, the stylist is looking to style jewelry on a hand, ear, or neckline.

Alternaprom - Logan Echolls

A/N: This is just me clearing out my drafts and indulging a bit. I do love Logan Echolls. Also...the masterlist is technically just this one story.

Summary: You cut out of the alternaprom early with Logan and head to the rooftop pool (obviously...Beaver doesn’t kill himself.)

You knew that Dick had only given you an invitation to the 09er’s Alternaprom as a joke and that the most you could expect out of the evening was Madison giving you a ‘trip to the dentist’ but for some mysterious reason you had put on your prom dress and gone to the Neptune Grand.

Maybe it was just so your mom wouldn’t spend the next ten years of your life bitching about how Neptune only catered to the very rich and how you, as her daughter, should have rallied for a prom that was better than whatever minimum wage could offer. She’d spent a good two months sewing your dress by hand, a dark green replica of a dress you’d seen on Kristin Cavallari during a red carpet event. You owed it to her to, at least, wear the garment. Whether you were a fan of Dick Casablancas and his moronic tribe of friends or not. At least the alternaprom was guaranteed to have good booze. 

You slipped in the front door of the hotel suite with a group of 09er’s that were bullshitting about the party with Dick, going virtually unnoticed in the crowd. The makeover was substantial, you never wore dresses, let alone even attempted to do your hair or makeup. You’d been rocking pretty much the same inconspicuous, don’t-look-at-me, vibe since sixth grade. But this wasn’t She’s All That, you weren’t Rachel Leigh Cook, so you could only hope that no one particularly “09er” would notice that you lifted a couple bottles in the process of getting drunk and enjoying the last party before you never saw these people again.

“Didn’t expect to see you here,” someone said, just above the sound of the music that Dick had hand selected. 

You turned to see Mac beside you, her dress equally reminiscent of herself and her social standing in the hierarchy of Neptune. “I should say the same for you, but you’re dating Beaver right?” 

She gestured to the corsage she wore, a little more giddy than was her typical brand, “Cassidy got a room for us upstairs and everything.” 

“That’s...awesome.” You finally decided, a little less enthusiastic than you intended. 

You had spent much of your high school career single, sometimes by choice and most of the time because the guys who liked you always seemed to be the social outcast types. Norris had been the last in a string of weird guys to ask you out the year before and you’d bailed pretty quickly after date number three. 

“Hello ladies!” Dick’s arm slung over your shoulder, the other over Mac’s, pulling you both close enough that you could smell the alcohol on his breath. And on his clothes. “Beaver’s girlfriend, and Beaver’s girlfriend’s friend.” 

“Dick.” Mac retorted, insinuating that she meant more than the nickname. 

With a quick glance over your shoulder as you detangled yourself from Dick’s hold, you noticed Logan Echolls watching the exchange. You offered a tight lipped smile, lifting Dick’s arm and ducking away from him. He didn’t care, or didn’t notice, and you grabbed a drink off the table before abandoning Mac to fend for herself. No doubt Veronica would be there soon if Dick got too annoying. 

“I’ve never been to prom in a hotel suite, it’s worse than I imagined.” You directed your comment to Logan, who smiled like he was amused by your appraisal. 

“I was gonna hang streamers from the ceiling and drop balloons while everyone slow danced to Time of my Life but I overspent on booze...which you seem to be enjoying.”

“Enjoying or medicating with?” You quipped. 

The slow smile that crossed Logan’s face reminded you of all the times you’d sat in the row next to him in class and how much time you’d dedicated to thinking about or liking someone who genuinely a horrible person. “I don’t wanna be ‘that guy’-“

“That would be a first.” 

He grimaced but laughed immediately afterward, “can’t say I’ve ever seen someone less excited to be at a place they willingly came to.” 

“I didn’t wanna hear my mom gripe about me not wearing the dress she made,” you replied, downing the last of your drink. 

Logan took the comment as an invitation to appraise your outfit, “your mom made that?” 

“Yeah, what’s the matter with it?” You challenged, looking down at your dress and then back at Logan. 

He took a sip of his drink, looking around the room as he held the cup to his mouth, finally looking back at you again with the same appraisal as before. He finally lowered the cup, “nothing.” Adding, “look, since you don’t wanna be here and I don’t wanna be here…why don’t we go somewhere else.” 

“Going somewhere else with Logan Echolls...I think that tops the list of recommended things not to do.” You replied.

“You’re hilarious. Remind me why we never hung out?”

“You’re an 09er and I’m...not?” You suggested, shrugging your shoulders as if you really weren’t entirely sure. It wasn’t like you didn’t know Logan well enough, his reputation as school psycho-bully well proceeded him. You had spent most of freshman and sophomore year hating him, junior year ignoring him, and senior year feeling bad that his mom had died but still ignoring him on the surface.

“Oh yeah. Well what do you say we let bygones be bygones as ditch this party?”

“Aren’t you throwing this party?”

“You haven’t said no, so why do I feel like you’re saying no.” He replied, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.

You rolled your eyes, “lead the way Echolls.”

He stepped back, grabbing a bottle of vodka off the table and then holding his other hand out for you to walk ahead of him. You didn’t really know Logan but you knew that he was overdramatic to a fault. There were plenty of times in class or just at lunch when you were subjected to his sarcastic, dramatic nature. Nevertheless, you went with him.

Logan took you out of the hotel room he and Dick were using for the alternaprom and into the elevator, looking over to you with a playful grin as he hit the button for the top floor. You weren’t an 09er so you weren’t too familiar with the layout of the Neptune Grand. He didn’t say anything in the elevator, just looked up to the ceiling or watched the numbers as they grew. When you finally reached the top floor and the door opened, Logan stepped into the threshold, blocking the door to keep it from closing.

“After you,” he said, waving his arm in a sweeping motion for you to go first.

“The pool?” You asked, looking around the rooftop patio. An outdoor pool, some lounge chairs, a bar that was closed for the night, and a hot tub. “You wanna hang out poolside in a suit and tie?”

“Or, ya know, go skinny-dipping.” He said, voice low as he passed you, leaning down so you could hear him. As if someone else might be in the area.

“Nice try Echolls,” you replied, “I don’t skinny-dip on the first date.”

“Which date do you skinny-dip on?” He joked, laughing when you nudged him with your elbow.

“So Logan, why didn’t you wanna be at your own alternaprom?” You asked, emphasizing the word alterna as you spoke. “Didn’t get a date with the girl you wanted?”

Logan shrugged, taking a seat next to you on the dry end of the diving board that was sitting at the far end of the pool. You had hiked your dress up to your knees and kicked off your heels.

“Ah such trivial things you think of,” Logan joked. He shook his head before leveling with you, “just not in the mood for Dick and his usual shit.”

“Well I can’t argue with you there.”

“Same question, back to you?” He asked, giving you a pointed look. “Get a chance to party with the big leagues and you’re checking out?”

You shrugged, “I’m not one for parties. Plus, I’m not so above trivial things...I didn’t get a date.”

“A date to a hotel room?” He replied. You nudged him with your elbow again and he laughed. “Right, sorry. Can I interest you in ‘anyone would be lucky to have you’ cliche?”

“I’d prefer that you didn’t. I don’t need to be placated Logan, I’m not upset. I just didn’t wanna be at the prom. Date or no date...though, if I had a date I wouldn’t be up here with you.”

Logan pressed his hand to his chest, a mockingly upset look on his face, “I’m hurt, really. I can’t believe you’d ditch me for some imaginary date...we’re practically best friends.”

“Lucky me.” You laughed. Pushing off the diving board, you stepped back onto the paved edge of the pool, unclipping the necklace around your neck and laying it down, “alright Echolls-”

“Back to a last name basis?”

“-I changed my mind,” you continued, ignoring him.

“On what?”

“On skinny dipping.” You replied, unzipping your dress and pushing it down to the ground, leaving you in underwear and a weird stick-on bra that you’d gotten specifically for tonight, “though I really wish I had nicer underwear for this.”

“Well the underwear comes off, so I wouldn’t really worry about it.” He said, tossing his jacket and shirt behind him before taking off his pants. “I didn’t peg you for this kind of-”

“If you say this kind of girl I’m punch you in the face.”

“Noted.” Logan replied, stepping closer to you, “real quick, though-”

“What?” You asked, crossing your arms over your now-bare chest. You’d taken off the stick-on bra but you hadn’t stripped completely. “What are you doing?”

“Kissing you?” He asked, as he leaned closer to you.

“Oh...okay.” You could honestly say you had never dreamed of kissing Logan Echolls before. You had a few friends who found him attractive and made a million excuses for his shitty behavior but you hadn’t really given him too much thought before he’d approached you tonight. You and Logan traveled in opposite circles and that was totally okay with you. Or it had been until he kissed you. And then, you could see why Veronica had been so drawn to him.

He held your jaw in one hand as he kissed you, his body so close to yours that you were nearly pressed against him. This was weirdly enough the most intimate kiss you’d probably ever had, especially because that was all he gave you. Just the one kiss before he pulled away, leaving you processing what had just happened as he dove into the hotel pool.

This is totally going to age me a bit but Britney and Justin was one of my fav couples growing up. Supposedly she cheated and he wrote cry me a river about her - do you know what really happened? Also - was there true beef btw Brit and Christina? What about Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari (laguna beach/hills). Sorry for the random asks - I’m just tired of seeing the same three celeb asks that keep coming into your inbox. Lol

We’ll never know the real truth between Justin and Britney unfortunately. Unless one of them talks. People are tight lipped.

Britney/Christina beef was initially created by the media for headlines. They’ve both made conflicting comments about the other along the way. I think it’s safe to stay they were never besties lol.

Lauren/Kristin beef was wildly exaggerated for Laguna Beach and The Hills which were entirely scripted. They never loved each other but their real life conflict was played up for the show.

Whitney grew up in a small town with her young single mother all she knew about her father growing up was that he was at least alive and out there somewhere. Whitney had a normal upbringing with the exception that she had to take care of her mother a lot growing up because her mother suffered from Huntington’s. She did so gladly and without reservations even though her mothers condition quickly declined. Right before she graduated from high school her mother passed away and she was left dealing with the aftermath of it all. Unfortunatly it was about the same time she met a man who she thought loved her and would help her through that dark time and at first he did but when she got comfortable things began to change. He became severly abusive, mentally and physically and she had no way to get out of it. Her best friend growing up had joined the military right out of high school but would come home on leave whenever he could. On one of those trips he made a visit to see her and realized what she was going through and helped her get out of it.

The distance between them didnt seem to matter and they grew closer, despite the fact that he was overseas and a romance blossomed between them.After his second tour he came home and the two got married and for the first time she was the happiest she had ever been. Whitney felt safe and at home with him. However, good things dont last and he was killed just weeks before he was to return home. After the accumulation of trama having happened in this small town she needed a change while she grieved and tried to heal herself. So she decided to look for her father and that search led her to New York where she found out her father was actually a telecommunications mogule. They built their relationship from the ground up, he was happy to have his daughter in his life and they developed a very close bond. But Whitney was a small town girl and being in New York, even though her publisher was now in the city it was just not where she wanted to heal her wounds. Her father suggested she move to their house in the hamptons where she would have a more peacful place and yet be close enough to the city to come and go as she pleased.
