first off I love tea man, elderberry is my favorite :)
second; just saw the poll canât believe youâre personally attacking Krazy and I like this >:\
.....I think I should have specified that this is not fruit tea, like, tea tea, with milk, or chai. I've not really tried too many fruit teas, what does elderberry tea taste like. Ove only eaten the fruit if a bush like twice.
Hey I didn't mean for it to breach containment so fast đ

@salmonfordesire @atsume-no-nettie @krazys-ass-emporium @user-f8m
Challenging you all!
Put your music library on shuffle, then list the first five songs that come up in a poll to let people vote for which one they like the most!
Then tag Tumblr friends to keep the game going!

Animated films are much older than most people realize and audiences of the silent era loved their cartoons just as much as modern moviegoers. Today, weâll be unboxing two sets of cartoons with material dating from the mid-1900s to the early 1930s.
The sets are Cartoon Roots and Cartoon Roots: The Bray Studios â Animation Pioneers, both released by Tom Stathesâ Cartoons On Film.
A huge thanks to Tommy Stathes for providing review copies!
Before we start, letâs cover format. Both sets are DVD/Bluray combo packages, meaning you get one disc of each with the complete program included. The sets also come with booklets of historical notes covering the cartoons and their creators.
Contents
Cartoon Roots:
As the title indicates, this set is all about tracking animation down to its beginnings and sharing early highlights. We start with Vitagraph and work our way up:
Lighting Sketches (1907) Cartoons on Tour (1915) Col. Heeza Liar, Detective (1923) Bobby Bumps Starts to School (1917) Out of the Inkwell: The Circus (1920) The Jolly Rounders (1923) Mutt and Jeff: Fireman Save My Child (1919) Jerry On the Job: The Bomb Idea (1920) Felix Comes Back (1922) Springtime (1923) Krazy Kat: Scents and Nonsense (1926) Lost and Found (1926) Hot-Toe Mollie (1930) The Milkman (1930) Farmerette (1932)
(The last three titles are talkies.)
Bray:
Bray Studios is not a household name today but they were an animation powerhouse during the silent era. Their ambitions were not limited to animation either; their signature product was a âfilm magazineâ which consisted of snippets of general interest content (mini documentaries, etc.) along with the cartoons as the comics section. (I reviewed one of their news items, In the Moonshine Country, here.)
The cartoons found in this set range from 1913 to 1927.
The Artistâs Dream (1913) Col. Heeza Liarâs African Hunt (1914) Diplodocus (1915) Farmer Alfalfa Sees New York (1916) The Police Dog on the Wire (1916) Bobby Bumpsâ Pup Gets Flea-Enza (1919) Krazy Kat: The Best Mouse Loses (1920) Jerry on the Job: TALE OF A WAG (1920) A Fitting Gift (1920) The Pied Piper (1924) The Lunch Hount (1927) Tantalizing Fly (1919) How Cartoons Are Made (1919) Chemical Inspiration (1920) The Point of View (1921)
Image
Here are sample shots from the Blurays. I have cropped the pillarboxes so you can get a better look at the screenshots. Very nice!
Cartoon Roots:
Bray:
Music
The sets include excellent music by Robert Israel, Ben Model, Charlie Judkins, as well as a few titles that use vintage music and effects. Obviously, the sound cartoons include their original soundtracks.
Extras
Cartoon Roots includes vintage clippings of the newspaper strips upon which some of the animated cartoons were based, a remake comparisn, vintage recordings and other goodies. The Bray set includes vintage publicity materials, internal studio documents, 1950s era footage of J.R. Bray and more.
All in all, quite a generous package.
Worth it?
These sets present a great opportunity to dive into a neglected section of film history. The quality is excellent and there is a broad selection, something for everyone. My personal favorites were Felix the Cat and Mutt and Jeff (both of which I saw as a kid, so major nostalgia!) but standouts in the set for me were the mix of live action and animation. (Max Fleischerâs Out of the Inkwell series is probably the most famous but not the only one.) Yeah, I know, I went for the obvious.
I definitely recommend these sets. Theyâre fun and they will teach us something. What could be better?
Availability: You can order Cartoon Roots here and Cartoon Roots (Bray) here.

8 and a half hours left on the poll, and also I finally fished her out from my closet. I definitely gotta krazy glue her neck back together. But honestly I'm kinda excited to give her a buzzcut.
Barbie Buzzcut Poll
As I mentioned recently, i've Been kinda hyperfixating on Doll Buzzcuts again. Like specifically getting an 80s/90s barbie w/ thick hair & giving them a buzzcut. I only have 1 doll I would be fine w/ giving one to, otherwise i'd have to buy a doll for this. The Doll is a 2nd hand 1997 Dentist Barbie. Here's an old photo of her. She literally just sits in a bin buried deep in my closet so I haven't played with or styled her as much (but I like her enough to keep her), hence why i'm fine with potentially chopping her hair off. So the question is Should I do it? Should I chop off this Barbie's hair and give her a Buzzcut?
#Barbie#Barbie Doll#Barbie Poll#Barbie Buzzcut#Barbie Haircut#1997 Dentist Barbie#I want to make the poll more than one day but less than a week#Would've made it 2 days like the twitter poll but i'll go for a week

Pacific Rim Uprising - Unsane - Episode 260 - Horror News Radio
Kaiju Kraziness is in full effect on Horror News Radio this week! First, we got Pacific Rim Uprising, the sequel to the Guillermo Del Toro robot-vs-giant monster battle movie. This time, John Boyega leads begrudgingly leads a group of cadets into training when a mysterious Jaeger suddenly comes to threaten the peace of post kaiju world. If that's not enough plot for you, don't worry. There are fifteen other subplots involved! After that giant blockbuster, The Grue Crew goes intimate for Steven Soderbergh's Unsane. It's divisive reception to the story of a victim of stalking (Claire Foy) finding herself locked in an institution. Some rather enjoyed this iPhone shot experiment. Others found it as nightmarish as the hospital itself. And not in a good way. It's a Dave-less Horror News of the Week, with the trailer for Deadpool 2, an alternate cut of The Shining and the potential of a Star Wars horror film. You know guest Christopher G. Moore is excited! Finally, another round of Phantom Factor! Hazzah!
As always, the HNR Grue-Crew would love to hear from you, the listeners, the fans. You can always reach out via email at feedback(AT)horrornewsradio(DOT)com or find us on Twitter: Doc Rotten | Dave Dreher | Thomas Mariani. Also, like us on Facebook and join the Horror News Radio Facebook Group.

Aaaand we lost, disappointed but not surprised there since the Lego Movie is a certified comedy classic. And for the sake of transparency I made the damn poll and the reason itâs like this is more due to theming and fears that any other character would result in a curb stompâŚnot think things all the way through. Plus in additional fairness this is about bastardy and you could at least secure hd loved his boys and is GENUINELY more ethical by comparison.
Although to make lemonade out of this I sort of came up with an on the spot headcanon while making this that Charles was from one of those families that was too poor to afford Lego, meanwhile Toki is a total AFOL. And sometimes Charles is sort of like the dad from the movie in terms of using the Krazy Glue.
Capitalist Bastard $howdown:
Round 1, Match 16
#may admittedly be a demonstration to my followers on how to deal with your fave losing#also in a bad mood because Tumblr Mobile LOVES to close windows and erase your progress if you accidentally click on a notification đ¤#when I already have numerous rabid fandoms breathing down my neck!#charles offdensen#charles foster offdensen#toki wartooth
