yesterday before i fell asleep i had an idea to become a director and create biographical movies, where everything goes as you could imagine, pretty down to earth, the twist is, at the end of each movie, unannounced the main character kisses their best friend of the same gender. And it would only work for historical figures that were actually gay or are suspected of being queer. So, in 10 years, I'll make a whole 3 hour long comedic biography on Juliusz Słowacki, where he spends his time in France having a beef with Mickiewicz and stuff, they have an epic rap poetic battle, people would come to the cinema with posters "Team Słowacki", "Team Mickiewicz", "Team Słowackiewicz", every polish person would come to watch it because they would feel obligated to do that, giving me money in consequence, everything goes as you could imagine, but in the very last 5 minutes Słowacki kisses Krasiński on the mouth. And no another character reacts to that, just to leave people watching thinking how to react to that. Old conservative people would think "I guess they were good friends and that's how people showed affection towards friends over 100 years ago." but people on Twitter would be like "It's a HISTORICAL fact that Słowacki and Krasicki FUCKED at least ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THREAD!!!!!!!" and it's like 26 tweets of them letter sexting or something.
#why would i write this?#why did i write this in english if i knew ill tak about słowacki?#bo słowacki lubi wacki#this went NOWHERE#go boy give us NOTHING

hi @charlottan, book tag game :3
Favorite books: It is so so hard for me to pick favourites. uhhhhhh... Night Watch by Pratchett, and honestly I could put a lot of Pratchett's books on here. but I won't. Wiedźmin Sapkowskiego, a lot of polish romanticism, satire, and war nonfiction; Sienkiewicz, Mickiewicz, Krasicki, Białoszewski, Borowski. A lot of Brandon Sanderson books; mistborn came to mind first
Favorite authors: a lot were mentioned above. Pratchett is probably the highest up there.
Favorite genres: fantasy, post-apocalyptic (or what I like to call: post post-apocalyptic) and historic nonfiction. Yuri.
Book(s) you’re currently reading: Sideways in time by Murray Leinster, After Sappho by Selby Wynn Schwartz, Macbeth by Shakespeare (plays count, shut up)
Books on your to read list: waaah too many to mention. I still have like 8 ones I've picked up from various used bookstores, my library holds currently are for The Terror by Dan Simmons, Hamlet (particularly choice audiobook), & The city and the city by China Miéville.
Books you loved as a child: Felix, Net i Nika Rafała Kosika, Animorphs by Katherine Applegate, Eragon by Christopher Paolini, Strrraszna Historia (various authors)
Preferred book length: with how I get INTO a book and refuse to put it down until it's over; I wanna say like. 100-150k words??? I dunno tho, I also like small books I can devour in one day, and I also like Project Books.
Books you couldn’t finish: I generally don't bother to remember things that I didn't enjoy or at least disliked in an interesting way. The most recent book I didn't finish was a 2 dollar used bookstore pickup Falling off the map: some lonely places of the world by Pico Iyer. the premise was amazing but then it just ended up being a bunch of British privileged takes on people the author clearly deemed as lesser. HOW IS ICELAND OR CUBA "FORGOTTEN"???? I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TINY TOWNS, ACTUALLY INTERESTING THINGS, NOT WHOLE FUCKING CULTURES YOU FUC-
Fiction or nonfiction: as a Writer I lean fiction 95%, and as such read a lot of it and learn from a lot of it, but also as someone who was always interested in history of People's, not armies, I've read a lot of nonfiction; journals and such. Both are great, recently I've been on a larger nonfiction kick tho
Buy, borrow from library, or read online: I'm sadly also a buycel, I love physical books. However, I'm also huge on audiobooks, and used to use my kindle a lot. In reality my sortof. division would be: buy from used bookstores, borrow audiobooks from your local libraries, steal ebooks and put them onto a cracked eReader as last resort.
Author you’ve read the most of, but DON’T recommend: I dunno! I mean, hm. I don't know how the Witcher translations are, translating from a nice and juicy language into English is lossy as hell so those version gotta be mid and I would not recommend anyone learn Polish unless you have a damn good reason.
Favorite book character: Can I put a cop on here? cause first character I thought of was Vimes from Pratchett's city watch. He's complicated and a bastard. honestly, a lot of Pratchett's characters. Angua, Carrot, Vetinari even.
If you at some point stopped reading but then started again, what book/books got you into reading again: Gideon the ninth :) I used to read 2-4 books a week as a child, then depression hit, then immigration, money and space and house insecurity, and I stopped until pretty recently :) now I'm back babey
Tagging ANYONE in this, if you do do this, please tag me :)

Chłop i Jowisz
Chmiel →← Chłop i cielę
Ignacy KrasickiBajki noweChłop i Jowisz
1
Bogactwo, Chłop, Choroba, Zazdrość, BógChłop stojący zazdrościł siedzącemu panu
Lepszego stanu:
I lżył niebiosy
Za takie losy
5
Myślą zuchwałą,
Iż jednym nadto dają, drugim nadto mało,
Rzekł wtem Jowisz: «On chory, a ty jesteś zdrowy,
Lecz masz wybór gotowy.
Chcesz bogactw? Będziesz je miał, lecz pedogrę[1] razem».
10
Uszczęśliwion wyrazem[2],
Przyjął chłop złoto, ale legł kulawy.
Wesół był zrazu, lecz gdy ból żwawy[3]
Coraz bardziej dokuczał,
Chłop narzekał i mruczał,
15
A winując[4] się o to,
Rzekł:«Jowiszu, wróć zdrowie, a weź sobie złoto!»
Z uskutecznieniem Jowisz się nie bawił,
Odjął bogactwa, pedogrę zostawił.

In the 18th century.
Biography of the translators of the 18th century.
Giuseppa Barbapiccola (1702-1740), an Italian philosopher, translated French philosopher Descartes’ “Principles of Philosophy”. She demonstrated that Descartes created a philosophy praising the female intellect, and defended the right for women to learn. Her goal was to inspire women to educate and empower themselves. Her translation included a history of women’s learning and a history of philosophy.
Ignacy Krasicki (1735-1801), a Polish poet known as Poland’s La Fontaine (a wellknown French fabulist), translated many works by classical poets (Plutarch, Anacreon, Hesiod, Theocritus) and modern poets (Boileau, Dante, James Macpherson). His translations contributed to the Enlightenment, a cultural, philosophical and literary movement throughout Europe.
Claudine Picardet (1735-1820), a French chemist, translated the scientific literature of her time in chemistry and mineralogy. A female chemist working alongside men was highly unusual at the time. She was proficient in five foreign languages (English, German, Italian, Latin, Swedish), which was highly unusual too. Her translations contributed to the scientific knowledge gathered during the Chemical Revolution, a movement led by French chemist Antoine Lavoisier.
Johann Heinrich Voss (1751-1826), a German poet, produced a 9-volume translation of Shakespeare’s plays with the help of his sons Heinrich and Abraham. Another German translation by August Schlegel (1767-1845), a leader of Jena Romanticism (the first phase of Romanticism in German literature), turned Shakespeare’s plays into German classics. Shakespeare’s plays were then translated into Swedish by the linguist Carl August Hagberg (1810-1864), who was a strong advocate of English and French literature at a time when Swedish universities were dominated by German influences.
Sarah Austin (1793-1867), an English writer, Louise Swanton Belloc (1796-1881), a French writer, Therese Albertine Luise Robinson (1797-1870), a German writer, and Mary Howitt (1799-1888), an English poet, translated a number of contemporary literary works for them to reach a wider audience. Mary Howitt translated into English some novels by Swedish feminist writer Fredrika Bremer while Louise Swanton Belloc translated into French “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe, a novel that described the harsh living conditions of enslaved African-Americans.
