Tbh I think you’re cooking with the voice headcanons. I’ve never heard Warriors or Legend’s voice described like that but like…yes, you’re correct
(also how would you describe the rest of the chain members’ voices? Now I’m kinda curious…)
THANK YOU, BECAUSE I FELT CRAZY TYPING THAT POST OUT. Here’s how the rest of the chain sounds in my head (im insane):
Time: Matthew Mercer specifically as Resident Evil 6 Leon Kennedy, but if his accent shifted somewhere between Welsh and the southern American accent, and usually ended up sounding like that transatlantic accent. The more time he spends away from the ranch and Malon the less the occasional really American sounding word slips in
Warriors: Joe Keery if he was British and had the same inflections and overall whiny dramatic way of speaking that Astarion from bg3 does. Like the same tone and pitch as Joe Keery (specifically as Steve from Stranger Things), but with Astarion’s sass, one liners, and overall cuntiness. (His real accent is NOT British to me, but he copies the ‘Castle Town Accent’ so usually, that is what he sounds like)
Twilight: Jeremy Jordan, but with a thick southern American accent. I mean near incomprehensible when he starts talking fast
Sky: Jordan Fisher, make him British, but make that British very weird in a way that makes it sound more like his native language is something far more ancient that came BEFORE British English
Hyrule: Ryan Potter, specifically as Hiro from Big Hero 6, but with a vaguely French sounding accent, almost as if that’s his native language but he hasn’t spoken it in a VERY long time and he can sound British for the most part but occasionally he says One Word and everyone stares at him like “???”
Legend: Chris Colfer from Glee but if he had the same raspiness to his voice that Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist does, and also if he were British (it’s a fake accent that Legend puts on, his real accent is a thick Irish one, but most of the time he speaks in a British accent)
Wild: Wild is weird because I have yet to come across a single person in any media I’ve consumed whose voice I’ve heard that’s made me go “That’s Wild.” So, to be even more insane, I’ll just describe what he sounds like. His voice isn’t necessarily very high, but it’s dropped as low as it’s going to and it’s very androgynous sounding. That being said, it’s hard to make out the actual tone and pitch of his voice some times because it sounds incredibly raspy and he can absolutely lose his voice if he talks for too long or screams too loud. If he takes proper care of it which he doesn’t always do it CAN sound more full and not as crackly, but there’s now always this element to it where it SOUNDS damaged. That doesn’t stop him from yapping, or singing, or screaming. It just makes Twilight roll his eyes at him while he makes him tea
Four: Zeno Robinson specifically as Hunter from The Owl House, but if Hunter was fighting to keep back a thick Boston accent every single day of his life. You piss Four off and that accent comes off as he starts angrily rambling at the others for improper sword care and they just sit there and stare at him blankly because they can barely understand a word he’s saying, he’s talking so fast. He sounds vaguely midwestern American when he’s trying to hide his accent
Wind: I’m not even close to original for this one and every time I see people talk about voice headcanons for the chain everyone says this for Wind, but Walker Scobell, though for me, SPECIFICALLY Kraft Mac and Cheese era Walker Scobell. And Wind’s accent is ALL over the place, he tends to pick up whatever the people around him sound like. Growing up his native language was the hyrule equivalent to Spanish, and then he was surrounded by a ton of Scottish people for a VERY long time so his ‘English’ (whatever language they speak in hyrule) became very Scottish sounding, but the more time he spends with the chain, the more he slowly starts to sound like a blend of all of them. So sometimes he’ll be talking and one word of his sentence will sound EXACTLY like the very unique way in which Time says something, or one word will sound like Sky. And his Scottish sounding (because it’s never been entirely Scottish) accent is slowly losing its strength as it starts to LITERALLY just become a blend of what the chain in general sounds like
And to an extent, the overall group accent does change a bit as they spend time together. Their individual accents, even if a lot of them are British, are all different because of the eras they’re from, but as they spend so much time together the accents start to blend a little and they sound more like each other. Of course if they were consciously thinking about how they sound while they speak they’d be able to talk exactly how they did before, and when they go back to their own eras the only one who’s going to sound noticeably different is probably Wind because his neurodivergent brain just copies whatever is around him and he’ll need time to adjust, but yeah
Those are my voice headcanons!! This is what they sound like in my brain when I’m writing/reading. I’m weird and this is insane, I’m aware aldkmdkd

the bakery worker - tadashi yamaguchi
a/n: oh boy my first piece of fanfiction (not actually but like in the good ol' tumblr format at least). of course, in honor of my first piece of tumblr fanart, it's with yamaguchi because he's so soft and he would fit this perfectly, i think (and also i hope this happens to me one day since i work at the wfm bakery and lik e... it'd be so very cute) -- also it's short because first piece and idek if people will even like this and i debated between 3rd pov and 2nd pov for like 30 minutes before writing it so oops
also i relaly hope i characterized yamaguchi right bro
cw: whole foods; gn!reader (and hopefully appearance neutral too so you can really imagine yourself as the reader ahahahha)
pairing: college au --> whole foods market worker!reader x college!yamaguchi tadashi (he's in america! who knows why)
word count: 1,074
i made the fancy liner thingy myself
A sweet treat never hurt anyone, right? he thinks to himself as he approaches the automatic doors. A blast of cool air greets him as he steps over the threshold into the supermarket. The fruity scent of the produce section wafts in the air, invading his nostrils as he grabs a basket from the entrance before wading deeper into the market.
There are a few people milling around, but the store doesn't seem to be too busy beyond that. It's not like Yamaguchi had many things to get, either -- as a college student, Whole Foods' prices tended to be out of his budget and was reserved for emergency trips only, since it was the only grocery store within walking distance of his apartment. Unfortunately, it's an emergency trip -- he had just returned to the States after winter break, and his fridge was empty. The fatigue of a 16 hour flight is beginning to take a toll on him, too.
He meanders about the aisles, peering closely at the price tags accompanying each item. He pulls two boxes of mac and cheese off the shelf and places them into the basket dangling from his arm. Mac and cheese is, perhaps, one of Yamaguchi's favorite emergency meals. And the 365 brand version wasn't half bad, either. It was no Kraft, but it'd have to do.
Soon, he's added more items to his basket -- a jug of milk (always whole), a carton of eggs, and some butter. He's perusing the cheese options when a worker asks him if they can help him with anything.
"Oh, no," he says in his accented English, "I'm good, thank you!"
The worker nods before walking away, and Yamaguchi returns his gaze to the cheese. Parmesan's always a good option, and he really enjoys sharp cheddars, but he's not even sure cheese is something he should get at the moment. He frowns slightly before putting the specific chunk he was looking at down and walking away.
Before long, he finds himself standing in the bakery section. He takes his time here, enjoying the pretty sights of each individual cake in the refrigerator. Every now and then, when he has reason to celebrate and extra money to spare, he'd buy one -- his personal favorite was the Boston Creme.
He takes a few steps away from the cake case, shifting his head to look over at the assortment of mini tarts and cheesecakes and other small sweets at the service counter. He's bent over slightly at the hips to take a closer look, because each one is assembled so artfully that he thinks they deserve his full attention. He can feel his stomach grumble slightly at the thought of eating one of those treats. He'd had a long day. He deserves at least a small sweet treat, right?
His focus is so fully on the display that he doesn't hear the worker at first.
"Sir? How can I help you?"
Yamaguchi straightens up so quickly that his back creaks in protest -- even former athletes get plagued from moving too fast. As he opens his mouth to speak, he finds that the words aren't forming in his brain because he's so taken aback by you.
The way the light reflects in your eyes, the way the white chef's coat sits on your frame, the way the black hat holds your hair back. Even though he's unsure about the amount of effort you may have put into your appearance for work, he's starstruck.
"Sir?" you say again. Your voice is sweet, so sweet, like one of the cakes on display. "Can I get you anything?" You're looking at him expectantly, your head tilted slightly to the side. Yamaguchi's reminded of a puppy.
He can feel his face heat up, both in embarrassment and in awe. "U-um, yeah," he says, wincing internally at the stutter in his voice. "Can I get..."
His voice trails off as he realizes he's not quite sure what he wants, but you're standing there so patiently that he doesn't feel rushed. He tears his gaze from you and returns his attention to the desserts arrayed in front of him, peering closely at each one to try and figure out what he wants.
"Still unsure?" you ask, although you're not visible from where Yamaguchi's gaze is. "Take your time!"
He finds himself thinking about how none of these treats would compare to the sweetness of your voice before he quickly shakes his head. He literally just met you. Why are you having such an effect on him?
Finally, he decides on one. "Can I get the mini fruit tart?" he asks, thanking whatever forces are out there for his now-steady voice.
"The four inch or the two inch?" you respond, and it seems so practiced that Yamaguchi is, once again, taken aback.
"The two inch, please," he manages to say after another brief pause of silence.
He watches as you vanish behind the counter, re-emerging with a plastic box. "Just the one?"
He nods, his eyes tracking your every move. As you pull on two blue gloves that fit your hands snugly. As you slide open the door and bend, reaching your hand towards the edge of the case to grab one of the three remaining fruit tarts. As you straighten up and place the fruit tart in the plastic box, closing the lid. As you pivot and walk out of sight, fully gone for several seconds before returning. The plastic box containing his dessert has a label on it now.
You hand it to him with a brilliant smile, and he mentally captures the image in his head. Your smile might just be one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen.
As he takes the box, he notices that the gloves are no longer present when his hand accidentally brushes yours. He can feel his face heat up once more and he hopes he doesn't seem like a total dolt with how flushed he's gotten since the short interaction between the two of you started.
He places the box in his basket and returns your smile with a smaller, shy one of his own. "Thank you," he says and you nod in his direction before turning your attention to the next customer.
As he makes his way over to the self checkout, one thought in his head rings out louder than the rest.
I should come to Whole Foods more often.

Mark (Christopher Augustine) is a disturbed loner who toils in the sub-basement of the movie business as a cameraman shooting porno films for swinish boss Jobal (Dick Glass). In his off hours, Mark prowls the peep shows and strip clubs of Los Angeles to prey on random young women who he picks up and strangles to death. When Mark pursues a romantic interest in Michelle (Jeannette Dilger), a model who he films in one of Jobal's sleazy movies, the grim reality behind the fantasy leads the frustrated cinematographer to shoot a different kind of Hollywood ending.

Beach City
by Jaquira Diaz
-
We talked about Miami Beach like it belonged to us, convinced that the tourists who came down to swim in our ocean and dance in our nightclubs were fucking up our city. We were seventeen, eighteen, nineteen-year-old hoodlums, our hair in cornrows, too-tight ponytails, too much hairspray, dark brown lip liner, noses and belly buttons pierced, door-knocker earrings, jailhouse ankle tattoos. We didn’t have time for boys from Hollywood or North Miami, busters who drove their hoopties with the windows down because they didn’t have A/C, calling out to us trying to get phone numbers as we crossed Washington Avenue or Lincoln Road, our chancletas slapping the sidewalk.
What did they know about surfing during hurricane winds, fucking on lifeguard stands, breathing under water? What did they know about millions of stray cats pissing in the sand dunes, entire flocks of rogue seagulls dropping shit torpedoes, about refugees and kilos of cocaine and bodies washing up on our shores?
We were the ones who knew what it meant to belong here, to be made whole during full moon drum circles, dancing, drinking, smoking it up with our homeboys. We knew what it meant to bloody our knuckles here, to break teeth here, to live and breathe these streets day in, day out, the glow of the neon hotel signs on the waterfront, the salt and sweat of this beach city.
*
One night we parked Brown’s Mustang behind the skating rink on Collins, hoofed it to the beach. We took our bottles of Olde English and Mad Dog 20/20, the six of us passing a blunt and listening to 2Pac’s “Hit Em Up” blaring from somebody’s radio, and every time they sang, “Grab your Glocks when you see 2Pac,” the boys grabbed their dicks, and we all laughed our asses off. Brown danced, stripping off his clothes while we cheered him on, me and A.J. keeling over, slapping our knees. Flaca, China, and Cisco climbed to the top of the lifeguard stand, singing, “Go Brown! Go Brown!” When he was down to just boxers, Brown gave up, and we booed him, threw our balled-up socks and sneakers at him.
Me and A.J. were out behind the lifeguard stand, sand between our toes, feeling for each other in the dark. We ran around laughing and laughing, and I took his hand, danced circles around him in slow motion.
I don’t remember when A.J. first told me he loved me, or even if he told me, but I knew. I felt it every time he came around, every time our thighs touched while sitting together on China’s couch, or when the six of us had to squeeze into Brown’s Mustang and I sat sideways on his lap, my lip brushing against his ear, his arms around my waist. Or when we stayed up all night talking even though he had to get up early for school the next morning—something I didn’t have to worry about since I was a high school dropout. Or on nights when the liquor and the weed made my head spin, the heat and the high coming down on me all at once, and only A.J. around to keep me from falling.
Down by the shore, Brown was so fucked up he dropped to his knees, then lay down sideways on the sand. Later, we would all carry him back to his car. Flaca would drive us to her place a few blocks away. We would all stagger up the stairs to her little studio, put Brown to sleep in the bathtub, and smoke Newports on the balcony. He would wake up with the munchies an hour later. “You got any cheese?” he’d call out from the bathroom. Cisco would grab an entire pack of Kraft Singles from Flaca’s fridge, and the two of us would toss them into the tub, slice by slice, while Brown tried to catch them in his mouth.
But before all that, the six of us dancing and running around on the beach, China chugging down Mad Dog, Flaca and Cisco kissing on the steps of the lifeguard stand, and A.J. looking at me under the moonlight, a cloud of smoke all around us, I wrapped my arms around him and said, “Don’t let me go.”
We were laughing, hitting the blunt.
We were the faraway waves breaking, the music and the ocean and the heat rising rising rising, like a fever.
We were bodies made of smoke and water.
