Das Gefieder des adulten Kormorans ist überwiegend dunkel bis schwarz gefärbt und besitzt einen grünlichen bis bläulichen Schimmer. Die Flügeloberseite glänzt eher bronzefarben. An der Kehle ist er weiß gefärbt, und der Schnabelgrund ist überwiegend gelb. Sein Hals ist relativ lang und kräftig.
