Freelancer is like…the people pleaser of all time. They never really state in conversation when they are uncomfortable or freaked out (cough Kody cough cough), and still up to now they have trouble setting boundaries with people outside their friend-circle. That—and they often discredit their own feelings on things when undergoing personal turmoil.

Not An Invitation: Daryl Dixon & Fem!Reader
Full title: This is not an invitation (fuck you mean you need it?)
Summary: Shane never knew when he wasn't welcome in someone's space, and he was often invading yours. After one time too many, a certain archer comes to your defense. Inspired by the song 'Invitation' by Ashnikko.
Era: Season 2, Greene Farm
Genre: Fluff
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: No use of y/n, swearing, Shane being a major-league creep
“I told you to leave me alone,” you protested. The anger you’d been able to keep at bay thus far threatened to bubble over, simmering just below boiling point under the surface. You were usually the more relaxed one in the group—calm, level-headed, and rational. You hated confrontation and aimed to avoid it at all costs. But you’d had enough.
Shane took a liking to you from the moment you arrived at the farm. He’d often find ways to get close to you, even if what he was supposed to be doing was nowhere near where you were. You’d told him to scram on more than one occasion, usually under the guise of needing to scamper off to do your chores.
One thing about Shane, however, was that he didn’t know how to take no for an answer.
“All I said was you’re lookin’ good today,” he repeated. With an eye roll heavy enough to nearly roll your head back with it, you rose from your spot on the porch and started walking away, knowing the asshole deputy was close behind.
“That isn’t all you said, and you know that,” you snapped, not so much as turning your head back to look at him as you kept walking. He’d said far more than just that, as he often did. His other commentary made your stomach churn, and it was enough for you to not ever think of repeating it.
“C’mon, it’s just a little harmless fun,” he sighed, picking up his pace to catch up to you. You swallowed hard and kept your eyes on the field in front of you. The only one having fun in this situation was him.
“Hardly call it harmless,” you scoffed. You heard him catch up to you, but before he could get close enough to reach for your arm, he was, as he would have put it, “rudely interrupted.”
Your saving grace approached from your peripheral, slipping past you without a word to confront the man on your heels. He stood between you, not quite completely shielding you from Shane’s prying eyes, but close. You couldn’t see, but you pictured his beautiful, piercing baby blues searing through Shane. It brought a hint of a smile to your face to know that, of all people who could’ve come to your defense, the handsome archer was the one.
Daryl Dixon was the quietest one of the group, often keeping to himself in his tent on the outskirts of your makeshift campsite. You’d heard him equated to a feral dog, minus the possible rabies. He was more than just a little rough around the edges, but you saw right through it. You knew there was more to the man behind the crossbow.
Shane had taken a liking to you, but you had taken a liking to Daryl.
“Think she said to back off,” Daryl cut in. You looked up at him. eyes traveling from his chestnut locks to his broad shoulders and up to the beads of sweat forming on the back of his neck. Some would say it was from the heat. Others might say it was from anger.
“Don’t think I was talkin’ to you, Dixon.” Having been a cop in the old world, Shane was used to bossing people around without any back talk. His voice was rigid, sharp enough to slice through anyone who got in his way. Except for Daryl.
“Dun’ think she was wantin’ to talk to ya,” he repeated, more stern this time. He held his crossbow firmly in his hands,
You’d never seen him use it on anyone in the group
When Daryl didn’t so much as flinch, Shane took one last look at you before walking off, his tail between his legs. You hadn’t realized that every muscle in your body tensed up, but the moment Shane was out of sight, you relaxed, quickly steadying yourself. Once you did, you went to turn to Daryl, but during your moment of unsteadiness, he’d pondered off. You would just have to thank him later.
Later that afternoon, after all your work had been completed, you wandered over to Daryl’s tent, half-expecting him to not be there. Yet there he was, carving a stick into a bolt for the thousandth time. You ran a hand through your hair to brush it out of your eyes before gathering the courage to get close enough to talk to him. Once you were only a few feet away, he looked up at you, those gorgeous pools of blue making your heart stop.
This was the closest in proximity you two had ever been while alone.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to spook you,” you said, your voice timid in comparison to your usual confidence. You had no evidence that you’d spooked him, but you were nervous, and not knowing what else to say to start the conversation, that’s what came out.
“Dun’ get spooked,” he replied, focusing his attention back on the stick in his hands. The movements of his knife were fluid, easy, like he’d done it so many times, he could do it in his sleep. It was simultaneously attractive and terrifying.
“I, umm…” your voice trailed off, the whole monologue you’d prepared in your head being dwindled down to two simple words as your nerves took over, “thanks, Daryl.”
He looked back up at you again. “For what?”
“For earlier,” you explained, “for what happened with Shane.” You lowered yourself slowly, hesitantly, as if you were still deciding whether or not to sit down despite doing so. You made sure to keep your distance as to respect his personal space.
“Wasn’t nothin’,” he assured, pausing his handiwork, “asshole’s bein’ a creep. Someone had to put ‘em in his place.”
A small smile graced your lips. “Well, if meant a lot to me.” He simply nodded and continued what he was doing, but you weren’t finished. “He said a lot worse, y’know? You just weren’t around for that.”
Daryl’s gaze scanned over you, like he was trying to read between the empty spaces of your words, eager for more details but not pressing. He’d known Shane for far longer than you had, and he was well-aware of the kind of shit he’d said to women in the past. The thought of him saying such vile things to you made him sick, but he kept his expression stoic, same as always.
You echoed your earlier words, your voice thick with emotion. “So…thank you.”
“Dun’ mention it,” he reassured. For a brief moment, you thought you’d caught a glimpse, a tiny hint, of a smile from the archer. However, it was so quick, almost like a glitch, and you couldn’t be sure.
“Do you mind if I stay here for a while? I don’t exactly feel like going back to the others yet,” you confessed.
“Long as ya promise to be quiet,” he teased, “had enough yappin’ from Sheriff Shithead already.”
You chuckled softly and dropped your gaze for a moment before meeting his again. For a brief moment, his heart stopped, taking in the stunning sight and sound in front of him. Your laugh was like music to his ears. “I can do that.”
The silence between you was soft, comfortable, the only sounds around you being the birds in the trees and his knife scraping across yet another stick. And you sat just like that for hours, not bothered that barely a word was exchanged.

Nanami watching a reality show
a very short list of hcs about nanami kento watching a reality show bc i was watching jersey shore, the hills, and sister wives and wondered what he would think about those shows and reality shows in general lol enjoy!
always avoided watching them bc gojo gave him enough drama and he did not want more
passes you the control and tells you to put whatever you'd like since he was gonna finish his report and read his newspaper for a bit
you put on a reality show, and he doesn't do it but he feels like groaning just from hearing the cast speak
he's a quarter of the way in one section of the newspaper when he hears some of the juiciest comebacks he has ever heard in his life
he doesn't lift his head the whole way but he watches the tv for a bit under his eyebrows
the thing is, nanami is a lowkey chismoso aka nosy
he skims through the rest of the newspaper and closes it and leans back w you to watch. you ask if he wants to change it and get ready to pass him the remote but he stops you and says to keep watching it bc he's getting up in a bit to make lunch anyways
does not get up to make lunch, y'all end up ordering in and nanami asks who each person is 10 times before finally (kinda) remembering names and understanding the dynamics
he'll shake his head and quietly mumble, "damn, that so messy" or "why would anyone in their right mind do that?"
is very shocked at half the things they do or say, but tries to hold in his laughter when someone says something ridiculous
quickly has nicknames for the cast and has his favorites
strongly dislikes the instigator and sits on the edge of the couch when someone stands up to them... but also looks forward to what the instigator does next
watches 90 day fiancé w you and grunts about the episode length but quietly watches... and enjoys
watches 90 day fiancé the other way and enjoys the way americans complain
can only watch a bit everyday and compares reality shows to medication, can only do so much at a time
will later ask which shows you've watched and looks them up when he's alone
will give you updates on the casts after looking them up on social media. "did you know she got married? i think they'll cover that in the next season?"
takes mental notes of contradictions and reminds you of these contradictions during the reunions
feels himself getting irrationally upset at some of these people and has to remind himself it might be scripted
will eventually ask if you'd like to watch a more wholesome reality show to balance out the dramatic ones
later falls into the hole of survival shows
gets a bit sulky if you watch the shows without him
hates to admit that he wants to get back home and watch one of these shows
quietly asks if you'd like to have a weekly reality show day w him where you can relax all day (or most of it at least) and have snacks, order in and just watch watch and comment on these shows
these end up being one of his favorite moments of the week w you, snuggling and enjoying brain rotting television
extras about certain shows:
prays that angelina is removed from the shore house, that sammi and ron separate for their own good, and mike gets the help he needs (is happy when it all happens except for when angelina comes back in the family vacation spin-off)
lowkey wants to rewatch the hills after the ending leaves him wondering how scripted the entire show was (you go back to explain the drama behind that and how it was mtv poking fun at it all)
has given up on trying to learn the names of the kids in sister wives. knows their faces, not their names. feels like he has personal beef with kody. wants to catch up on all recent drama.

Reductive Audio #7 Spoilers
Uhh this is just a list of my favorite facts from the reductive audio
All d(a)emons are ambidextrous, and Ivan is left-handed, but the cool part is that Ivan became ambidextrous when Vega was controlling him (idk is that cool?? It's interesting for sure)
Brachium has only ever experienced vanilla extract through the memories of the dead.
Caelum on the other hand has made a "Vanilla Extract Tumblr Cake" (one of those polls where people "bake a cake" and it has too much vanilla extract voted for, i think) and it turned out horrible!
In Mario games, Elliot was forced to play as Luigi by Aaron, because of his at home nickname being "Ell/L" and Luigi starts with an L (you get the gist. It sounds the same)(Elliot wanted to be toad tho)(Aaron would play as Mario)
Gavin technically can and has pretended to read a book, he just has never actually committed to doing so
Lasko is scared of heights even though he knows that he could catch himself if he were to fall, so he thinks the fear is annoying
Damien peut parle français (Where did Damien learn french?? At home? School? As a hobby?)
Ash was taller than David, until David hit puberty and shot up (thus the big guy nickname came to be)(Seriously tho. So many boys would shoot up in like 3 months during summer break and be wayy tall when we'd get back to school and I was always amazed that someone could grow that tall that quick)
Oof T-T Sam was close with his Grandma Adeline (Adelene?), and when she passed he went back home to Mont Blanc to say goodbye to her grave (he snuck into the cemetery at night because he was a vampire by then)
Kody was gonna originally be involved with Closeknit, but then his character was taken in a different direction (makes lots of sense. He would be a closeknit guy)
Huxley was the fastest kid in his grade because he was obsessed with Bionicles (specifically pohatu with the mask of speed) (omg i forgot about bionicles until I looked them up again. I never did anything with them but I remember them)
Milo doesn't drink alcohol because he doesn't want to find out if he can get addicted to things as easily as his dad
Avior has HEARD of Gavin but never met him before
Oldest 3 d(a)emons in order: Polaris (Dead), Vega (dead for a bit but alive again), Ursa (elation daemon)
Camelopardalis has been in therapy for 2 years to work through the the bad memories that he had to keep of the whole Vega and Ivan problem (and he hasn't wiped his therapists memories yayy!!)
Arden took out the second most shades (David is the winner in taking out the most) during the Inversion, and Christian and her defended the VIP box through the whole night, even when Christian couldn't stay in wolf form
Kelsey started the Chrissy nickname! (Arden and Asher use it the most)
Aaron, when Elliot's powers first manifested, would imagine what it was like to be magical (He wanted to be a "Warder" and do force field stuff)
BLAKE WAS GOING TO ORIGINALLY BE CALLED CARVER OMG
Zeke (Member of Closeknit) drinks "Cactus Cooler" (orange and pineapple soda)
Xavier (contra-elemental) was originally supposed to survive the inversion
Bailey's mother is beta of the Keaton pack
DJ Anxiety (Hudson) still makes mixes, he just hasn't done live DJ-ing since the Inversion
Gregory Keaton doesn't exist in the Fooliverse (his parents never met in that AU)
Anton doesn't like gore, and bcuz of that he prefers black and white horror movies (modern ones often have too much gore in them) (Such a vibe for him)
Brachium was the last serenity daemon created by Min'Ara's own hands
E'Laetum has a grudge against Vega because Vega was specifically built to be the opposite of Polaris (even tho the dude didn't have a say in his creation)
Quinn sounded like he was interested in turning Darlin' (but they never could figure out if he was serious or not)
Hush was supposed to originally be apart of one of Echo's "deals"
Porter's maker was a dude named Felix, who got executed because Felix seemed to really like creating progeny (as well as being horrible to them)
Alexis resents Porter for becoming William's favorite when he wants someone to go out and do whatever, because Alexis does more "collateral damage" than Porter
(And there's cool Vampire lore from The Summit vampires from 26:18-27:36)

New experiences
Cowboy!Marine! Reader has been on my mind too much.
Strictly platonic. Might make Cowboy! Reader a reoccurring thing, who knows.
(≧▽≦)(≧▽≦)(≧▽≦)(≧▽≦)
Koby had never seen such an obedient crew when it came to the Marines. There was always a group, big or small, that misbehaved.
He was shadowing a different Captain, Garp had stuff to do so he was pushed to another. Honestly he was expecting glares and sneering from the crew, but instead he was met with smiles and cheers.
"Welcome to th' crew, Koby! We're glad to have ya'round!" The Captain said from behind him. Instantly he noted the western accent that was very apparent in their speach.
Koby turned around to salute the captain, taking in the most notable thing about them, being the western hat atop their head. Something a cowboy would wear in the wild wild west books he read as a kid, with horses and gun draws.
"Captain!" Koby said, hand flat and up by his forehead.
Someone in the crew let out a chuckle, then another, and soon after everyone was laughing. At one point he thought he heard a couple people fall to the floor.
Even the Captain let out a laugh. "No need t'be so formal, we don't do all that 'round here" They pat his shoulder before walking towards the stairs. He simply nodded and let his hand fall.
"You got any questions? What's for dinner? Sleeping quarters?" They asked, looking at Koby from half way up the stairs.
"Uh, yeah..." Koby muttered, scratching his neck. No matter how much he had improved, he was still as nervous meeting new people as he was when he met Luffy.
"Hm? Speak up!" They hollered, narrowing their eyes at him with a small frown.
"I do have a question!" Kody shouted, closing his eyes. He could feel his sweat drop.
It was quiet, Koby swore he was about to be pushed overboard. Boots clacking on the ground grew louder as, who he assumed was the Captain, approached again.
"Well?" They said, hand on their hips and leaning more on one foot than the other.
Koby swallowed the lump in his throat before opening his eyes, "What are we doing today, captain...?" He asked. The hem of his shirt freying from him messing with it out of nervousness.
They let out a sign, looking Koby up and down and taking in his nervous body language.
"I told you t'not be so formal. Just call me (Y/N)." They said, setting a hand on Koby's head and keeping it there for a second. "As for your question..."
Their hand on his head wrapped around his shoulder, gently leading him to face a different angle. Their other hand is pointing out to an island not far away.
"We're buildin'"
Building? Building what? He didn't know the Marines built, he thought there was a job for that already.
It was obvious with the look on his face that he didn't understand. (Y/N) let a chuckle out and stopped pointing. "We're not really fighters, we do uh..." they placed their hand on their chin in thought, "community work, I suppose."
"Community work?" Koby asked, looking up at the Captain, thanking their hat for blocking out the sun from his eyes.
"Yep! We go 'round and help people. Lots of times stuff gets damaged while Marines 'r catching Pirates an' stuff" They explained, taking their hand off his shoulder to make motions with their hands.
That definitely made sense to him. Thinking back to when he was still kinda new and had to repair the wall Luffy and Garp had broken. It was a horrible job and while on the ship he heard Garp mention something about the repair teams, now he knows what Garp was talking about.
"What- uh, what are we building?" Koby asked, walking over to the railing and looking as the island got closer.
"A barn" (Y/N) said nonchalantly. Koby's head whipped around and stared at them like they were crazy.
"A Barn?!" He repeated, "How's that gonna work? With what materials? I doubt anyone here knows how to build a barn." He ranted, going into the logistics of it being a successful job.
(Y/N) watched Koby spiral for a second before putting their hands on his shoulders to ground him. "Relax rookie. We've got a bunch 'f wood in the haul and we, the crew, have been doin' stuff like this for a long time" they reassured him with a smile.
With a nod he just looked back at the island as they let go of him to walk away, probably talking to the helmsmen or something.
Perhaps this would be a fun experience, though he wasn't excited to build a literal barn, even if everyone knew what they were doing.

𝓖𝓸𝓸𝓭 𝓭𝓪𝔂,
this is for the redacted boy matchups!!
UHMMM my name’s amber, im a cat person i love cars and i have unnecessary beef with Lasko just cuz he reminds me so much of myself
I was born and raised in the Philippines ^_^, i speak 3 languages currently
this is such a halfassed introduction im so sorry SO HAPPY TO BE HEREE ok
1. What song are you fixated on at the moment? What lyric or verse, and why?
- Just the entirety of ‘A letter to my 13 yr old self’ by laufey but instead it’s dedicated to my friends
“Baby, know that
You’ll grow up and grow so touch and charming
Write your stories, fall in love a little too
The things you thought you’d never do”
- Every time I listen to this, I always think of them and what they’ve confided in me with, I grieve with them and just wish I could have been there to shield them from it :3
2. Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why?
- When it comes to longggg video essays , I usually lean towards topics that I’m already fond/familiar of so that i remain interested and focused (current interests like the mandela catalogue :D or political affairs going on in the world, or true crime)
- Dunno if it counts for a video essay but i once finished watching a 4 hour senate hearing….in one sitting
3. What is your go-to way to fall asleep?
- I often do have to take melatonin cuz sometimes there’s too much happening up there—>🧠 and i struggle to fall asleep
- asmr videos (i like the ones made by small creators cuz the rest are too predictable)
- or i have a playlist for sleeping and i usually put that on very low volume on a speaker
- I also can’t sleep without hugging something but it CANT be a person, has to be…..a pillow…or a stuffed animal
4. What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?
- i only listen to the ‘don’t hang up’ halloween audio like maybe 12 times a day? For the past 4 months or so :P
- I absolutely love the trope and i loveee the way that it was executed.
- I love the cadence of his voice in that audio, and something about his demeanour is soooooo🤗🤗the gravely voice and the dark laugh is to die for (he reminds me of David a tiny tiny bit)
-something about how protective these men are and how authoritative they can get (to a certain extent) just do it for me i dunno :3
-me 🤝distorted voice on the phone
- i also rlly like porter’s first video ^_^
5. What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)
- blake? Kody?
- Blake i find has very realistic ‘yandere’ qualities and that makes him more creepy for me
- Kody is very self-explanatory
6. Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend?
- GUUUUUYYYYYYYY or asher >_<
- These are men that I am so confident I would never catch feelings for cuz we’re very similar in a way
- I don’t tend to gravitate towards people that I share similarities with? I’m more interested in people that are the opposite (so i feel like in terms of romantic attachments, I get along with those types of people really well)
7. Do you have a go-to thing you ramble about when you’re tired, and if so, what is it? (For example, my boyfriend knows I’m ready to sleep when I start talking about space.)
- i feel like im not answering the question properly but when i ramble (which I do a lot) i sort of don’t stick to one topic
- I don’t know anything about anything so I usually ramble about one thing and then move on with another topic
- (halfway thru typing i just realized what this is actually asking) but when im tired that’s when I actually stop talking for once :D
8. Tell me about your favorite playlist at the moment.
- i have a playlist full of filipino songs because I currently live in Canada and i am soooo homesick, also doesn’t help that I haven’t really met any other filipinos (outside of immediate family members) :(
- there’s also another which is just full of songs released in the 1900’s, not only do i enjoy listening to old-school songs, i was also raised by old people so these type of songs basically defined my childhood.
9. What’s your guilty pleasure media, and why?
- Boyfriend asmr >_<
- Maybe fanfics of fictional characters???
- I’m especially partial to yandere stuff…cuz…idk i wish i knew
- Also cupcakke (i’ve put her on shuffle and managed to complete a big assignment in one sitting so thats my queen)
10. Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.
- it would be the Haunting of Bly Manor (horror, suspense, romance, drama?)
- GAY PPL CAN NEVER BE HAPPY RAGHHH
- Definitely my favorite ‘horror’ series
- It’s special to me because I find a lot of horror media to be…just very hard to enjoy since gore and jumpscares don’t really do it for me
- Haunting of Bly Manor stands out from the rest of horror movies/series because the storytelling is immaculate, characters are complex (and you actually feel the loss when they get killed off unlike others), and the pacing is perfect
- It reads like a fairytale and a bedtime story, and given the plot, it might as well be a love story too
- There’s so many figurative/metaphorical occurrences that i can break down and unpack and thats why I find it enjoyable: its thought-provoking and just the right amount of scary
- It also has that ‘gothic’ aura to it that i ABSOLUTELY LOVE
11. Tell me your go-to gas station and drink combo.
- idk about gas station but i like chocolate milk more than anything else
12. As for the enneasgram (i cant spell) test thingy….i can’t do it cuz it’s making me pay…BUT! I do know my MBTI personality thing is..INFP…or ISTJ…idk it kinda changes everytime i do it
That is all. You have 2 hours. /j🤗
I hope this is enough info (i also hope it’s not too much :D) and im not even sure im answering them right 😖 but regardless I enjoyed myself. You’re so awesome for doing stuff like this i cant wait im gnawing at my enclosures rn.
This was a hard one to consider- I wanted to take into account your attraction to people who contrast you while also finding someone similar enough that I feel they’d be compatible. In my heart, in my gut, this left Sam.
In a few ways, you have significant things in common. You’re both introverts. You’d like the same music, given Sam’s age, and you’d have the same taste in horror (which is very important if you ask my boyfriend and I. Crucial, even.). Yet, in fun and cute ways, you differ. Sam’s a dog person. Sam doesn’t get your love of yanderes, cars, or true crime. (So he says. He’s the type of DILF where he walks in on you watching a true crime documentary and just stands there, refusing to sit down.)
Just as he deserves, your life together with Sam would be so peaceful; he’s a peace and quiet kind of guy, you know? I’m imagining a cabin in the woods, a cat and a dog because y’all would make them get along, long drives in his ancient truck that amazingly still runs only because he fixes it by hand. I’m thinking of movie nights where Sam mother-hens you and rations the sugary, junk food snacks y’all get for it because he has to take care of his human and make sure you get a balanced diet.
Song:
On a lonely highway stuck out in the rain/ Darlin' all I have to do is speak your name/ The clouds roll back and the waters part/ The sun starts shinin' in my heart for you/ You're right there in everything I do
It’s not a creative take, but I think Sam loves country music; I think he’s a man of taste! It reminds me, and therefore him, of all the fun, nostalgic parts of home! Does he love this particular country song? I’m not sure, but one, it makes me think of Sam carrying you and your love with him wherever and whenever he goes in his immortal life. Two, it literally uses the term “darlin’” in it, okay, that’s a sign. That’s a done deal.
Runner-ups:
Damien is a runner-up because you see a lot of yourself in Lasko and you like people that contrast you. This is actually derivative of a ship I like quite a lot; I thought Damien/Lasko had this wonderful two sides of the same coin dynamic before HuxDami became canon. Vincent is your other runner-up because his extroverted nature is so fun opposite your introversion, but you’d still bond a lot over a mutual love of cars.
note: if you love horror movies without jumpscares or gore, I cannot recommend “They Look Like People” enough. It’s quite literally my favorite.
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

a prompt list appears 👀
Can I request “Where have you been?” for M please ? I need a little bit of fluff after the angst :((
honestly do what you want with this prompt, even if it's angst. i love what you write
"Where have you been?"
The question causes startled blue eyes to shift from their current balancing act, various bags precariously placed on their arms, to your stern one. Though an expression of warmth and happiness offsets it the moment their brain seems to register that you were standing in front of them.
"When did you get here, baby?" They tilt their head, reminiscent of Kodiak when he was trying to figure out where his favorite toy was hidden. "I thought you were having a best friend night with Blaire."
Your lips purse, completely unimpressed. "I've been here for about an hour, M. But--" You wave your hand behind you. "I was quite surprised to find out that you weren't here when I arrived. Where did you go? I thought you were going to catch up on the books you've been meaning to finish?"
They don't answer right away, probably trying to formulate a proper response to your pointed words, but they continue their journey through their house to the large kitchen to place their various bags on the island.
"You texted me," they begin, a small shrug making an appearance. "I just got back from my morning walk with Thena and Kody when I saw it." Blue eyes raise to meet your gaze, a softness exuding from their very core. "Do you remember what you sent me?"
"That I was having a hectic day and that I wanted it to be over already."
M hums, a happy expression etched across their face. "Precisely. I knew that you'd only get more stressed as the day wore on. So I--" They turn to rifle through one of the bags, only turning back around to show you the medium-sized carton now clasped in one hand. "Went to get you your favorite homemade ice cream from that store you like."
Whatever you had expected them to say, whatever reason you had conjured up within your mind, such a sweet gesture had never crossed your mind; even though it was completely on brand for M to do such a thing for you.
"M," you murmur, still stunned. "That shop is over an hour away in the next city."
They tilt their head once more. "So?" Looking genuinely perplexed now too, they continue. "I also picked up some of your favorite movies and snacks too. I thought maybe you'd like to have a movie night tonight? Though I assumed it'd be later once you got done with Bl--"
You stopped their rambling with a swift, yet gentle, kiss to their lips. The feeling of warm hands gently cupping your cheeks, a faint smile appearing, and a happy hum gracing your ears as you pull away, caused your heart to skip a beat.
"You didn't have to do all of that for me."
"Why wouldn't I? You were unhappy and I knew how to make you feel better." They place a gentle kiss on your forehead. "Why wouldn't I do everything in my power to make that happen? To make you smile?"

starbreaker maid roleplay (feat intox kink)
so this started with @hauntedwizardmoment and @13hitpointsnodex talking about jace in a little maid outfit while he gets wine drunk and tries to cook porter dinner (badly), and just generally getting drunk to do chores. and @t4tozier mentioned jace getting aroused as he's drinking, porter coming home to a drunk, giggly jace stumbling into him, saying he's just finished the dishes and does porter want him to suck his dick? (kodie) jace drinking as he’s doing chores. half of the actual cleaning is just prestidigitation so it’s not even like. that involved. but that doesn’t mean he isn’t into the whole maid concept and he Knows porter is too. so when he hears the key in the lock he scrambles to bend over the bathtub, drink still in hand, like 'oh i didn’t hear you come in sir my apologies'
this turning into jace giving himself a pavlovian reaction to cleaning, that any time he starts to do any kind of housework he starts to get hard
jess suggested them doing a roleplay scene where porter catches his maid helping himself to the liquor cabinet and he has to punish jace, and kodie had the incredible idea that the punishment would involve making jace drink more - “you wanted to try it, didn’t you? you’re gonna finish it, then.”
jace having drunk half a bottle of this expensive liquor, groaning and dizzy and clumsily trying to push the bottle away, and porter just effortlessly catching his hand, and continuing to lift the bottle up to jace's lips, forcing him to drink more. (kodie) “shh, that’s it, darling. you wanted this, remember? doesn’t it feel good?” as his other hand is grazing down jace’s chest to the hem of his tiny skirt
jace loving the feeling of the silk and lace of the skirt against his skin, drunkenly grinding up against porter's hand, getting so wet from all the praise porter's giving him.
(kodie) jace looking up at porter, this drunken little pout on his face, and he spreads his legs as he tilts the bottle up again…and porter coos "there’s a good boy, that’s what i thought"
(kodie) also after jace has had like. six shots. porter tugs him up. smacks him on the ass. and says alright sweetheart. i believe you had some cleaning left to do, and jace like blinks so slowly over his shoulder and is like "wait i thought we were done w that part you’re not gonna fuck me??"
and porter’s like. "why would i do that? you haven’t finished."
Jace on his knees all pouty with grabby hands at Porter's belt, slurring about how much he needs Porter's cock in his mouth, how desperate he is, and Porter laughing and pushing him away. "yeah, I bet, you little whore. I'll give it to you when you're done."

College Souyo Oneshot
Summary: Yu and Yosuke’s classmates notice that the two are ‘pretty close’ and try to get them officially together though an unconventional method
Words: ~3.6k
Additional Notes: The classmates Sei and Kin are based on two of my OCs, Matt and Kody respectively. Sei and Kin are actually shorthand for their last names (Seiyokarashi and Kinfuku) but I use them as their regular names in this context.
“So… They AREN’T dating?”
“Not officially, I don’t think so.”
“Hmm.”
Sei smirked at his friend and classmate, Kin, from across the table from where they were sitting at a ramen bar. The two had come here after classes to have dinner together, as it was a popular spot for many of the other students. Sei could see from his seat that nearly half of the patrons were college-aged students. In fact, Sei could recognize two of his other classmates, Yu and Yosuke. He quickly noticed their gray and orange heads of hair after seeing them from the back of the classroom so many times before.
Sei was on good terms with them, though he would only comfortably say that he was only acquaintances with them. He had spoken to them a few times to get notes, and another time to discuss the lectures, and Sei thought they were nice enough. But it was kind of funny, he thought, how the two just seemed to be glued together. They sat next to each other during class, they shopped together, and now they were together again in the ramen bar. It seemed that where one was, the other would be close by, like a matched set. It was hilariously entertaining to see them awkwardly dance around each other, but as much as Sei could watch them with a bucket of popcorn in hand, it was starting to get more annoying than funny.
Sei had been worried that they would catch on to their glancing, but he quickly dismissed his concerns when he saw that the two were busy enough with each other, engrossed in their own conversation
“Though I wouldn’t put it past you to assume that they were a couple. They do call each other partners,” Kin added.
That nickname… The first time Sei had heard Yosuke use it he was taken aback. He had said it so excitedly, so endearingly, Sei almost believed it was something like a pet name. But no, when Sei had asked it was apparently just a ‘thing’ between them.
“I guess. Didn’t they go to the same high school?” Sei asked while leaning his head on his hand.
“Yes they did, Yasogami I believe. From the way Narukami speaks so fondly of his time there, it seems both of them had a good time there.”
Right, Sei remembered their conversation. Yu and Yosuke met each other there and became fast friends. But just friends, Yosuke had said.
“Hmm… Do you think they developed feelings while there?”
“It’s entirely possible. Could you imagine them being high school sweethearts? How romantic!” Kin clapped his hands together in front of his chest in excitement, it seemed that he thought the two were a couple as well.
“Do you think they are on a date here?” Sei decided to entertain the idea more.
As if in response, Yosuke slung his arm around Yu and started laughing boisterously at something he said. Sei could be imagining it, but it looked like Yu was… Leaning in?
“A casual date perhaps? It’s a remarkable place with quality food, I certainly wouldn’t say no to a date here.”
Sei looked at his friend with a raised eyebrow.
“What, do you want a date?”
“Maybe you can offer some other time,” Kin added with a wink, “but I think one couple is enough here.”
Sei and Kin were both looking at them, just in time to watch Yosuke slurp some noodles, leaving a splatter of broth on his face which Yu gently wiped off with a napkin.
“Okay, they have to be boyfriends,” Sei punctuated with slamming his fist onto the table.
“It’s a lovely gesture, but I don’t think they would admit it to be romantic though.”
“Ugh, why don’t they just say it already?”
Sei and Kin had seen how close the two acted while they were all in class together, and now with this ‘ramen date’ Sei’s opinion had firmly cemented them in his mind as being together.
Kin looked up at his friend with a glint in his eyes “Perhaps we could convince them…”
“Yeah? How?” Sei was deeply curious, not to mention a little suspicious. It's not as if the two of them could shove their faces together and spontaneously make them official. He wondered what his friend could possibly be imagining…
“Why don’t you take me on a date?”
“What.”
“Please listen to me,” Kin raised his hands in a placid manner “Why don’t the four of us go out together as a double date? It can just start as a group hanging out with fellow classmates, and at the right time we can ‘announce’ that we’re dating!”
“And that will make them declare their feelings?” Sei asked incredulously.
“It’s being a positive influence,” Kin waved a finger in the air. “By setting a good example and showing them it’s okay to love each other, it may be the small push to allow them to tell the truth to one another.”
Sei heaved a great sigh and put his head into his hands. As ridiculous as it sounded, Kin’s plan may have some justification to it. The two of them hung out together often, and it was a rumor in the class that they were seeing each other. Sei was openly gay and Kin was openly bi, plus the two were roommates so the two of them together would be believable in the eyes of many. Sei does admit that Kin was a dear friend, and quite easy on the eyes, but he never saw him in any romantic light. But nevertheless, there was pervasive gossip that could be used to their advantage. And it wasn’t as if they were forcing Yu and Yosuke together, they were just planting a seed in their minds, a suggestion.
The more he thought about it, the more Sei believed that the plan could work. It would be great to see their other two classmates stop denying their feelings and make it awkward for everyone around them. Sei didn’t have any particular reservations about it, the only regret he could think of was the inevitable teasing from their other friends and classmates. It would be annoying for a while, but it would probably die down after a while. Who knows? It could be fun seeing their reactions.
“Okay, okay… I’m fine with it. Do you have any places in mind?”
Kin’s eyes crinkled in satisfaction at Sei’s response.
“I was thinking about this bubble tea cafe nearby. They have this drink that caught my eye...”
The next day after classes, Kin approached the budding couple and offered them an opportunity to hang out at a nearby restaurant and have a casual review section. He had reminded everyone of the test next week, to which Sei and Yosuke groaned about it, and thought it was a good time to go over the lectures and compare notes. Yu and Yosuke had agreed, although Sei wasn’t sure if they would get any studying actually done, with his and Kin’s plan that they were trying to execute.
When Sei pushed open the door to the cafe, a small bell chime signaled his arrival at the store. For a moment he just stood at the entrance and stared at the place, taking in the view. The walls were painted in a soft lavender with fairy lights adorning the walls, and a couple of fake vines hanging for the ceiling. On each table, there was a napkin holder with images of cats, dogs, and other chibi animals. Sei certainly thought it was… an interesting aesthetic. Nothing he would personally enjoy but decided it was fine enough for where they were.
Kin walked ahead, not fazed at all by the cafe’s decor, picked up some laminated paper menus from the entrance and sat down at an empty table with four other seats. Sei followed behind him and sat down beside his friend, still glancing around. There were a few other people their age that were most likely other students, and a pair of young women in suits, probably just out of work.
Sei felt a hand placed over his on the table and snapped his head over to Kin. He was looking intently at the menu but had a catty grin on his face showing that he was not really paying attention.
“So when do you think the others will arrive?” Sei didn’t move his hand from underneath Kin’s as he wasn’t too uncomfortable. He was already naturally touchy, but this time he would be trying to do it in a romantic manner. Was he getting into the ‘affectionate boyfriend’ character already?
“Soon I should think. Narukami’s already quite punctual, and that should help offset the tardiness that Hanamura would have.”
Kin was speaking from experience, as they had both personally seen Yosuke jogging into class nearly ten minutes late and trying to quietly sit down next to Yu. The more he thought about it, the more Sei thought that the two complemented each other. He hoped it wouldn’t be too long for them to get together…
While he waited, Sei leaned over his friend and looked at the menu. There were small plates, sandwiches, rice bowls, and poke bowls, but most of the menu was reserved for the drinks. Milk tea, fruit tea, regular tea, and smoothies, all in a variety of flavors and toppings. It all sounded pretty good, but Sei had no idea what he would choose.
A chiming of the front doorbell made Sei and Rin glance over and find that their other classmates were at the entrance. They waved them over to their table and the other two sat down.
“Hey man, how are you guys doing?” Yosuke greeted with a wave.
“We’re doing well, you guys should look over the menu,” Sei responded. With his free hand, Sei slid the menu to the other pair across the table. He could see Yu briefly glance over the table where Sei’s and Kin’s hands were together but didn’t make a comment.
Sei read through the menu again but still had no idea what he would order. Passionfruit sounded good, but mango did as well. What about lychee?
“Hey Kin, what are you going to get?” Sei referred to his friend.
“I was thinking about some taro milk tea with boba. Would you mind if we get a large drink and share?”
Ah, so that was part of his plan. Sei had no reservations about sharing a drink, it wasn’t like either of them was sick or anything.
“Sure why not?”
Yosuke glanced up at them for a moment in confusion, and Sei took the opportunity.
“Are you guys going to share anything?”
“Nah, I’m good.” Yosuke waved his hand in dismissal at the suggestion.
Yu smiled at his friend and responded, “Why not? I’d be willing to share something with you.”
Yosuke sputtered for a few seconds before giving a small ‘no thanks’ and Sei barely held back a chortle, disguising it as a light cough. It was so glaringly obvious that the two liked each other, but now that he thought of it he and Kin would look like a similar obnoxious couple. Oh well, it would be worth it in the end to see them finally admit they liked each other.
After Yu and Yosuke had decided on their separate drinks, the four of them got to discussing their lectures as was their ‘original’ intention. It made Sei’s blood pressure rise in frustration as he tried to understand what his friend was talking about.
“What do you mean??? Where did you get that value for gallons per minute?”
“Well, we have the gallons per acre, miles per hour, and width. You plug those into the equation, and you get your answer.”
“How are you supposed to remember the equation?”
“I think it will be given to us,” Yu added, “but it might be in a different form so we’ll have to re-arrange the variables.”
“Ughhh, this sucks,” Yosuke added.
Yu patted his friend on the back reassuringly. “You’ll get it eventually.”
“I just don’t get it,” Sei turned to his friend, “How do you guys understand any of this?”
“Through continuous effort and many hours of studying. My mind doesn’t keep itself sharp you know. But I am more than willing to help you.” Kin punctuated by tapping his hand onto Sei’s chest.
“Gee, thanks.”
“Oh you flatter me, my dear sweetheart,” Kin spoke, as if he wasn’t fishing for compliments. But Sei didn’t mind so much, since Kin did have better grades than him, so he was in no real position to criticize.
When the four of their drinks were done and they were called, Sei thought it was a good opportunity for a break, especially since he could feel a headache coming on from doing those calculations. But as soon as Sei started to get up, Kin’s arms suddenly grasped his waist and pulled him back down. Sei just stared at his friend in disbelief for a moment, trying to figure out what in the world he was trying to do.
“Dear, let the others get the drinks. I want to talk with you.”
“Uhhh… sure.”
Sei had stayed put and the other two classmates got up instead, with only a hint of bemusement on their faces. Sei wasn’t exactly embarrassed, more like deeply bewildered at his friend’s behavior
“What do you want?” Sei whisper-shouted at Kin.
“Would you mind if I kissed you later? On the cheek that is.”
“You want to go that far?”
“They’re the oblivious sort,” Kin glanced over to Yu and Yosuke to where they were standing at the counter, “and they won’t recognize a romantic act unless directly pointed out. That is the whole reason that we’re doing this, no?”
“...Fine.”
“Great! I’ve always been curious about what kissing you would be like.”
…Sei wasn’t sure if Kin was being honest or just trying to fluster him. If he did it wasn’t working, but it made Sei pause and seriously reconsider his situation for a second.
The other two classmates walked back to the table, drinks in hand. When Kin noticed they were approaching, he moved his position to where he was only holding Sei’s arm and not his entire body. They placed the drinks on the table, and seeing that Kin’s arms were ‘occupied’, Sei decided to grab the beverage himself and drink it. It tasted pretty good, maybe a bit too sugary that distracts from the true flavor of the taro, but it was pleasant.
He reached his arm over to Kin’s mouth to offer him a sip.
“Try it. How does it taste?”
“Quite sweet, but not as sweet as you,” Kin said with a smirk.
Sei had nearly rolled his eyes at the cornball line, but he didn’t manage to hold back his laughter. He hoped that the others would interpret his snort of disbelief as something more… romantic? At this point, Sei was just trying not to break down laughing at the sheer absurdity of the situation.
Yosuke put his hand to his face. “Wow, it feels as if I’m being third-wheeled here.”
Kin only smiled in response, though the narrowing of his eyes gave away to Sei that he was thinking the same thing as him. After all that they had seen them practically snuggling next to each other after class, he was certainly an interesting one to say that.
“Well I’m glad you two are enjoying each other,” Yu commented, “it’s nice.”
Okay, now Sei was sure that their plan was working since he could nearly see a trace of wistfulness in Yu’s eyes.
“I do appreciate our time together,” Kin leaned in closer, “Every moment I spend with Sei is lovely.”
“Hah, it's as if you two are dating or something,” Yosuke remarked jokingly, and Sei was ecstatic. He couldn’t wait to see his reaction and to see if their plan would ultimately work.
Kin glanced at Sei, seemingly asking him if he would like to respond. And Sei happily took the opportunity.
“Yeah, we ARE dating!”
To punctuate his confession, Kin kissed his friend on the cheek.
“Huh,” Yu stated plainly.
“HUH?!” Yosuke answered with much more enthusiasm.
“He’s quite the catch, isn’t he? He’s adorable, can cook, and very handsome…”
“Hey, I’m not gonna be your househusband! If anything, you would be the trophy husband! Most of the time YOU’RE the one sitting on the couch while I do all of the chores!”
“While it would be pleasant to just sit and look pretty, I have much greater ambitions in life.”
Through their banter, Sei had nearly forgotten about the true purpose of their ‘confession.’ He reigned himself in and finally got a good look at the other students across their table. Their expressions were priceless, it was worth everything he was going through.
“I’m glad for you both,” Yu said with a polite smile, though it didn’t exactly reach his eyes.
“Yeah uh, me too I guess,” Yosuke said in response to his friend. He was trying to smile as well, but it came out more like a grimace.
Sei could practically see the gears in their heads turning. It would only be a matter of time…
Sei’s and Kin’s ‘date’ went over pretty well, the two had a great laugh afterward and promised to go to the cafe again. Although they were mostly preoccupied with their plans, both of them admitted that it was pretty good they would try more of the menu’s offerings when they weren’t so ‘busy’.
As expected, rumors about Sei and Kin spread fast, but they didn’t make as much of a splash as Sei had expected. He wasn’t sure if he was more relieved or disappointed when the strongest response by their classmates to their newly declared relationship was, “I knew it!”
But that was besides the point, as Kin pointed out after class one day, and that they would have to be patient for the fruits of their labor. And thankfully the two didn’t need to wait for too long.
About a week later, Sei and Kin decided to go to the nearby park on the weekend, to hang out and enjoy the vegetation. It was a reserve of greenery within a vast gray, concrete desert, perceived as a hidden gem for stressed salarymen and students to unwind. The two friends had been there before to hang out privately since nobody was usually there, so they weren’t expecting anything out of the ordinary for their trip. But they were pleasantly surprised when they found two other students already at the park, already in the middle of discussion.
Yu and Yosuke’s voices were hushed, but they were steadily rising as the Kin and Sei sneaked closer. This made it easy for quiet classmates to crouch behind a vine-covered brick fence and listen in.
“-And I have just been thinking… about things,” Yosuke explained eloquently.
“Like…?”
Yosuke gave only a sigh at that, and from the sound of rustling fabric Sei and Kin could infer that he was fidgeting with his clothes.
“Like our relationship. I’ve just been seeing so many other happy people living their happy lives and I…”
“Are you happy?” Yu questioned, in what Sei could only describe as uncharacteristic worry. He had never heard him sound so… uncertain. His effortlessly cool, confident, charismatic classmate now sounded like a worried mess.
“Of course I am!” Yosuke was quick to assure, “This has been some of the most fun years of my life! Spending time with you has been… fulfilling.”
There was an uncertain waver in Yosuke’s voice as he said that last word and everybody listening (openly or not) could pick it up. Sei bit his lip in concern, trying not to make any movements despite how intently he was paying attention.
“...Are you really happy? You don’t sound like it. Are you not happy… with me?”
“That’s not it at all!” There were heavy footsteps and Yosuke’s voice raised to the point where he was no longer caring about privacy, openly shouting
“You make me happy! I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been by your side! I’ve never felt this way with anyone else! I like you…”
“Like me?”
“Yes! I… really like you.”
There was a hefty pause as Yu considered his words, with everybody holding their breaths in anticipation.
“...I really like you too.”
Yu’s quiet admittal was almost soft to be heard from Sei and Kin, but both heard it clearly and widened their eyes in surprise.
“Y-Yeah?”
“Yes. I love you.”
Sei and Kin looked at each other with delight, both of their grins reaching from ear to ear. They were both thinking the same words.
(Finally!)
The two hiding classmates heard gentle footsteps and Sei and Kin decided to make a hasty but silent retreat to give them privacy and to avoid spoiling what they could only expect to be their first kiss. Or at least, to spare themselves from the embarrassment.
Once out of earshot, the two friends hugged each other in relief and in celebration for a job well done.
Though abruptly, Kin leaned into Sei’s ear and whispered, “So do you want to be boyfriends for real now?”
Sei backed his head away from his friend but still chose to continue embracing him.
“Let me think about it.”
“Well I hope you don’t take as long as them. I don’t think I can handle pining for that long…”

Stuffed toys
May I request 27 with the Holmes? Just a platonic and familial stuff about both brothers comfort/tried to claim 'the best brother' for y/n?? Please surprise me, you can do angst or fluff or maybe both! Good luck and thank you!!
Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes
Tag/s: Familial Relationship, Longer Than Expected (700+ words)
You squinted your eyes at your bedroom and rubbed them, hoping it would change.
Unfortunately, it didn't.
Inside your room was a giant teddy bear with a bow on his head, big enough to be a chair in the middle of the room.
"...What?" you questioned, your maids fidgeting as they kept their posts.
"Master Sherlock walked in this morning and placed his gift in your room," she explained, making you hum.
"And none of you stopped him...?" you asked, making them pause.
"He said you knew he was visiting..." they explained, making you sigh.
"...Did Mycroft also visit?"
"Yes..."
"Guh..." you choked, seeing the rows of toys from your old favorite franchise arranged on a shelf you've never seen before.
'I haven't had those since I was seven...' you thought, feeling embarrassment flare up your face as your maids and butlers stared at the gift.
"Camila..."
"Yes, Master?"
"Tell my brothers we're having a family meeting. It's urgent..." you muttered, walking back to your room.
"Is it crucial?" Kody asked, following you through the halls.
"Not really," you muttered, "Knowing them, they're probably having a contest on who's better,"
"What is this about?" Sherlock sighed, sitting on the couch with Mycroft on opposite sides as your maids prepared you some tea.
"I just have some questions," you clarified, taking a cup.
"Well then?"
"This better be important..." Mycroft muttered, looking at his pocketwatch, making your head throb in annoyance.
"You just finished your case," you glared at Sherlock, "And you're on vacation," you pointed to Mycroft, catching the two men off guard.
"So, don't act like you're busy," you sighed, leaning back on your seat as you rubbed your temples.
"So... Mind explaining yourselves?" you asked, showing the shelf and giant teddy bear.
"What? Can't your brothers spoil you a little?" Mycroft smiled, feigning innocence.
"Normal brothers, maybe," you grumbled, crossing your legs, "But you two always have something up your sleeves," you reasoned, staring at them.
"So, what is it? Trying to cover up a crime? Did somebody die?" you asked, making them look away.
"Master (Y/N), if I may..." Kody whispered, making you raise a brow.
"What is it, Kody?"
"We found out Master Mycroft and Sherlock have been asking for reports of your well-being from a maid," he started, making you widen your eyes.
"And I believe they found out about your... separation... with Sinclair Arkwright," your mouth gaped as you turned to your brothers.
"YOU WERE SPYING ON ME!?"
"God... This is the worst..." you grumbled on your knees, the living room now a mess from you throwing whatever was closest to your brothers.
Even the furniture was flipped over.
"Hey..." Sherlock called out, making you glare at him.
He sighed as he knelt, patting your head.
"Just so you know, Mycroft was the one who's spying on you,"
"Sherlock!"
"But!" he added, glaring at Mycroft before wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
"We found something about Arkwright... And it's not pretty," he sighed, making you look at him.
"So, the murder case you just solved..."
"Was Arkwright... Yes..."
"You were his next target," Mycroft added, sitting on the other side.
"And we'd be fools if we didn't interfere," he muttered, patting your head.
You sighed as you leaned back, your headache returning.
"And this was your way of comforting me?" you asked with a strained smile.
"It worked before,"
"Yeah, when we were kids!" you exasperated, remembering the mountain of toys your brother would give when they got in trouble with you.
"But..." you sighed, putting an arm around their shoulders.
"I guess this is your own way of comforting me," you softly smiled, remembering the times your brothers awkwardly attempted to soothe you whenever you cried.
"So, thanks..." you smiled, hugging them tightly.
"Did you have to phrase it that way?"
"What brother sneaks into their sibling's house to put a giant teddy bear in the middle of the room?" you retorted, making Sherlock silent as Mycroft stifled a laugh.
"It's the same when it's a full-stock shelf of toys," you added, making Sherlock smirk.
You breathed out a smile and gave them one last hug.
"It's a tie, by the way," you mumbled, making them furrow their brows.
"What's a tie?"
"Your contest on who's the best brother," you clarified, smirking at them.
'You'd think a contest I made when we were kids would have stopped years ago...'

Let's round out the rest of Crassus' men
I've shared them all in one post here. Having these actors in mind was the critical difference which helped me write Crassus' chapters because boy oh boy was I struggling.
Without further ado, here are Trebonius Moss, and Cassius and Marcus Luna:
The Baby
Trebonius Moss. The only other high born Capitol member of Crassus' squad. He's the youngest of the six and isn't totally convinced of Crassus' view of the world... yet.
He's the oldest living sibling with three younger sisters, one of whom becomes a classmate of Coriolanus', mentoring the female tribute from District 5.
He's a bit naive, but with Teller's help he's improving everyday.
I cast Kodi Smit-McPhee, unfortunately best known for that one "he's white" meme from Elvis, but what made me think of him for the role of Moss was his performance in The Power of the Dog. From an unassuming, slightly odd boy, to a man capable of expert deception and murder. He is from the Capitol after all.
Big brother extraordinaire
The most obvious of the names, Cassius Luna is named after actor Diego Luna and his character Cassian Andor from the Star Wars universe.
Andor was one of my absolute favourite shows of the last 5 years and I've rewatched it several times and it greatly influenced how I wrote this fic.
Diego Luna also appears to share a lot of similar political values to me, many of which are on display in Andor and in his actions, particularly joining the Zapatista protests in his teenage years.
Cassius has one goal: keep his brother alive. He's taught him everything he knows about how to survive and they've only stuck around because that's their best option until the weather clears. While not a great shot like Teller, Cassius is very adept at laying traps to catch small game, which helped keep the men alive when deer were harder to come by.
Also, excuse the blurry pic, I thought it was clearer than that.
Marcus has got your back
Marcus Luna is the younger of the two brothers and while he's still learning from Cassius, he's by no means dead weight, being incredibly capable in his own right. Marcus will forage and find every single edible plant in a several mile radius, having encyclopaedic knowledge of everything that can feed, hurt, or heal his compatriots.
I cast David Castañeda because I just think he should be in more stuff. Like most, I first saw him in The Umbrella Academy as Diego Hargreeves, but it was his performance in an indie called Standing Up Falling Down where I saw just how talented he is, not to mention endlessly charming. And like David, I could absolutely see Marcus sneak off in a corner to write a little poem to himself just for fun.
I also wanted to make sure to include a reference to the Lunas speaking Spanish to each other considering it is both Luna and Castañeda's first language. And while Suzanne Collins doesn't allude to languages other than English in canon, I know that languages don't disappear that easily and that there would be a class component to who speaks languages other than English in Panem.
This rounds out Crassus' men. Let me know what you think of my choices if you've read the fic. Did they match up with who you had in mind? If you haven't read the fic yet, I introduce all these characters in Chapter 2 of They Will Come For You In the Night, would love it if you would check it out 💚

For me, I like what Kody could have been, mainly in an "gotta catch em all" kinda way of FL being friends with all the elements (before Coworker of course).
Objectively he's a piece of shit, and with his canon storyline he's obviously unredeemable since he doubles down with the gaslighting and did that bullshit during the Inversion amongst other things. But I did wish when he was introduced that he could be part of the DAMN group in some way and not have the bridging assault storyline. Just be another of the potential romancible elements, you know.
He could reconcile with Damien and develop a healthy rivalry and banter with him, get to know Huxley and be embarrassed against his friendly demeanour, bounce off of Gavin with his flirting or something, be the calm against Laskos anxiety in a different way to FL (kinda like Coworker is but without the relationship). But we didn't get that, instead we got a Lody who's a complete cunt. Which is fine, cause Erik can do what he wants and Kody's character works for the story he wanted to tell. (Although sometimes I did think to myself "what if we got a non-canon audio where the gaslighting worked or something, kinda like a Bad-End audio" because angst is fun and otome games with that trope rotted my brain as a teen 🙃)
But I'm not saying I wish he never existed as he is, it was an entertaining storyline that helped me love Huxley as a 10/10 character, and he was a mild foil to the DAMN crew. It just means that I will mildy mourn the potential characterisation he could of had, and hate-love the characterisation we got.
TLDR: I love Kody's potential in theoretical storylines and canon-divergent fanfic, but hate him regarding his canon character, cause we're supposed to hate him.

𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐥 ➢ 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫
𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒓 - 𝑨 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝑵𝒐 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒔
𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 | 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭
𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 - After making their getaway, Kodi and JJ regroup with the others at the police station. John B's gut feeling takes them to the cemetery, where even more is revealed for the group and where they must go next.
𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠(𝐬) - canon-typical drama, brief descriptions of anxiety, smoking weed, protective!JJ, mentions of gun shots/guns, threat of violence
"I APPRECIATE THE CIRCUMSTANCES AREN'T GREAT BUT COULD YOU PLEASE BE A LITTLE MORE CAUTIOUS?" Kodi questioned as JJ continued to throw the Twinkie around sharp corners and drive down barely safe roads.
"Not right now, Kodi…" They made it back to the main drag of town and immediately, Kodi began looking for any signs of Kie, Pope or John B. Her heart was in her throat as they made their way closer to the water.
"Wait - Wait, JJ pull up!" she instructed when she spotted the three of them being walked into the police station. Barely able to put one foot in front of the other, Kodi got out of the Twinkie before JJ had even fully parked it. She rushed through the front doors and caught up with them.
"Kie, Pope -" she sighed in relief as they allowed the trio to hug. When they stepped apart, she noticed John B was missing.
"Peterkin's got him for questioning," Kie explained as JJ caught up.
Once everything was wrapped up, Kie's father came to bail her and John B out, understandably pissed. Pope had only been given a caution, to no one's surprise. Kie was marched off without so much as a moment to say goodbye to Kodi and the boys.
"Well… Any more terrible ideas planned for this evening?" Kodi clapped her hands together before making her way over to the Twinkie.
"Not deliberately," Pope replied and JJ shrugged, unbothered.
"I have a pretty strong feeling that my parents are gonna want me at the Surf Shack to lock up soon, so let's go."
They drove down to the waterfront and whilst John B headed off to his job, JJ trailed Kodi to the Surf Shack. When they arrived, her parents had just started bringing in the outdoor displays for the night.
"Oh, so we do have a daughter after all," her mother remarked as they slowed to a stop. Her father appeared shortly afterwards.
"Evenin', JJ." Kodi watched as JJ nodded in response and waved.
"Mister B. Mrs B. Lovely to see y'all again."
"You keeping her out of trouble, Maybank, or luring her right to it?" Kodi made an exasperated noise at her mother's blunt question.
"Mom!" The older woman ignored Kodi's protests as she hefted a box of tourist gifts into the main shop.
"Ignore her, she's just a little sour today," her father stated cooly. Kodi and JJ pitched in and helped bring the last of the gifts, toys and general tourist crap back into the shop. When her mom was in the backroom and JJ was out the front retrieving the last of the boxes, Kodi took the opportunity to approach her dad.
"Dad?"
"Yes, Dakota?" He stopped sweeping the floor briefly to look at her and give her his full attention.
"Can JJ stay over tonight?" The question hung between them for a moment and then he cleared his throat.
"Sure. Just make sure you guys… Uh, keep the door open, y'hear?"
"Yes. Absolutely. Thank you." She stretched up onto her toes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Outside, a horn honked several times, catching their attention.
"Oh, this is going to be good," she mused sarcastically as she stepped out of the store to see John B behind the wheel of the Twinkie. Kodi and JJ climbed inside without a second thought, promising to be home after dinner.
They managed to convince Pope to join them and then made their way over to The Wreck to see if they could get Kie too. JJ pushed Pope out of the Twinkie to talk to her and they waited for a while.
"She says she's not coming!" Pope informed them as he stepped out onto the front steps.
"Why not?" JJ called back, confused before turning to John B, "What did you do?"
"Shit… Hang on, I'll deal with it." John B got out of the van before either of them could press further.
-/-/-
Somehow, John B convinced Kie to join them and as evening drew in, they were on the road again. JJ and Kodi were sprawled out on the carpeted floor of the Twinkie, whilst Pope was in the passenger seat and Kie sat on the seat near the window.
"You mind if I just relax on this one? It's been a long day and a lot of weird stuff's gone down. I'm just gonna lay low…" JJ informed them and then offered the burning joint to Kodi.
"You wanna hit?"
"Absolutely," she agreed and he handed it over to her. The thick smoke curled out of her lips and disappeared into the air around them. Kodi settled against his side and tried to forget about the trauma of the day as the high kicked in and fogged up her brain just enough.
"Look - look, I know I was wrong about the lighthouse, alright? And wrong about everything else going on. But I was right about one thing; my dad is trying to tell me something," John B declared as the scenery rolled by outside the window.
When they slowed to a stop, Kodi realised they were at a graveyard. Less than eager, she followed along, flashlight in her hand as they made their way through the headstones and memorials.
"John B, what are we doing?" she questioned as she swung her flashlight beam in a wide arc.
"Ssh - shut up a second… You know how you're trying to remember a song and you can't remember who sings it?"
"Yeah?" Kie chimed in, unconvinced.
"So, Redfield. This whole time I thought it was a place, right? But it's not a place. It's a person," he explained and when he stopped, he held his lantern up to the mausoleum they'd come to a stop in front of.
"Wow…" Kodi looked up and took in the name engraved in the stone. Redfield.
"See, my great-grandmother; Olivia Redfield. That was her maiden name." The silence was filled by the sounds of crickets and a slight breeze that whistled through the trees.
"Gimme a hand with the door -" They all stepped forwards to try and open the mausoleum, despite Kodi's conscience telling her it was a bad idea.
As Pope, JJ and John B tried to push the door open, they all were just as quick to retreat when a snake appeared out of the stonework.
"Woah - hey, this is a bad idea. I'm pretty sure those are venomous…" Kodi's comment was overlooked as JJ tried barking at the snake to scare it off, only causing more confusion and a series of attempts to get him to be quiet.
"If there's one, there are probably dozens. All over."
"Stop, you're scaring me," Kie complained and Kodi took her free hand to comfort her. She wasn't exactly skittish but the thought of disturbing a nest of snakes like that didn't exactly fill her with the confidence of Indiana Jones.
"Alright, look, we're not gonna get in there. It's not budging," Pope began and stepped between John B and JJ, "We should probably just go."
"I can get through," Kie stated after a long moment of staring at the door. They all looked at her with expressions of confusion and concern.
"What?"
"No, no, no - you think you're gonna fit through that hole?" John B questioned in response, unbelieving.
"This is about your dad, right? And honestly, I really don't believe in it, but you deserve to know the truth," she explained and let go of Kodi's hand to step closer to the door.
Whilst Pope and John B helped her in through the hole in the door, Kodi kept an eye out for more snakes.
"Remind me what we're looking for?"
"You'll know it when you see it," John B replied and that seemed to be all the prompting Kie needed to hoist herself up and through the hole.
Whilst they waited for her to finish scouring the inside of the crypt, a cool breeze blew through and made Kodi shiver. Goosebumps prickled her exposed thighs and she pulled JJ's hoodie tighter around her.
"Oh, my God…"

*These are only my physical books. I downsized several years ago and that left me with a majority of books i hadn't read yet. I want to try to make an earnest effort to flip that ratio. Most are second hand or gifts, but all happily accepted with the intention of reading. The exceptions are the YA series, which were bought and read when I was a young adult.
Color System:
💙 TBR
💚 Read, but could be up for a reread soon
🧡 DNF accidentally but will continue
🖤 Read, but no current need to reread
♥️ Read but will most likely (definitely) not reread in the future
Not sure where I'm going to start but I'm super excited to start getting through this list, in no particular order.

Prompt: Fictober Day 5: "It's a new day, let's go."
Fandom: Lumine
Summary: Kody and Lumine have been staying at Sera's apartment for a little less than a week; it's unfamiliar, and he can't really communicate directly with her yet, but she's kind enough.
Content Warnings: repressing trauma/grief and trying to "move forward" normally, implied parental death (if you squint) (like a lot) (and also know the series), very mild angst
Words: 965
Kody groaned, rolling over to lay on his side. The couch was big enough for him to lay on his back, but he always felt unstable when rolling to lay on one side or the other—even if he had an inch or two of space to spare. It was definitely softer and more comfortable than the floor, where Lumine had fallen asleep, curled up in a bundle of blankets but insistent that he would be more than fine despite Sera’s protests about how the two of them should sleeping in her bed while she took the couch.
She had pushed hard enough, but Kody had also said that he would be more than fine on the couch—so long as Lumine was insistent that he was fine in the floor, at least.
His sides and chest ached, and he wasn’t sure if it was where he had slept on his back most of the night, the sudden change from warm air to cold, the stress, or something else—It would just be my luck if I got sick before all of this happened. He thought bitterly, shifting to bury himself under the blankets further with a slight shiver.
It had been a little less than a week since he and Lumine had started to stay with Sera; he had started to pick up a few words here and there, all while Lumine had been the middleman for communicating between them. It wasn’t easy, and she often had Lumine reassure him that he didn’t have to help with anything—but at the very least, he would wordlessly help with cooking or cleaning.
Lumine helping would probably be a little bit of a disaster, after all. He knew this. She didn’t know this. He would really rather her not find out just how clumsy he could be sometimes.
The bedroom door creaked open, and Sera’s voice followed—it was low and tired, but still carried a warmth that he could identify, but couldn’t understand.
“Pretty sure I’m the only one awake.”
Kody sat up slowly, resting his arm over the back of the couch as he watched Sera quickly move towards the open kitchen; one of her ears twitched up as he spoke, turning slightly in his direction.
He tensed at the sound of her scurrying, eyes practically glued to her as she moved, the rest of him frozen.
She spoke again—”… Lumine?”
The coffee pot bubbled to life, a red light on the switch catching Kody’s eye as she turned to walk towards the living room. She furrowed her brow, seeing the tension in his shoulders, and added something to her question, though Kody wasn’t sure what.
Kody slowly shook his head, seeing her gaze fall on him; he averted his gaze, now looking at the werewolf sleeping on the floor. “Asleep still.”
She nodded, seeming to accept the answer, and made her way back to her bedroom, leaving him alone once again. He watched the door for a moment, expecting her to hurry back out, but she never did—instead, his attention drifted over to the coffee pot, which now had steam steadily billowing out from the top.
Maybe I’ll get some after she leaves. She probably made more than enough.
“Kody?”
Lumine’s voice was quiet, drowsy; the bundle of blankets shifted and his form grew larger, leaving the blankets themselves folding over his shoulders with his head poking out as if it were a cape.
“Morning,” Kody offered a small wave, not looking in his direction. “Sera’s late again, I’m pretty sure.”
“Yeah, her footsteps woke me up. Really loud…”
“Don’t I know it. Seems like she’s late pretty often.”
Lumine offered an anxious smile and half-laugh. “We don’t even know if she’s late today, though… Plus, us being here probably really throws her off.”
“… Yeah. Probably…” Kody murmured, pulling his own blanket around himself to match Lumine. “She asked if you were awake, I think.”
“I am now… Are you helping make breakfast this morning, or?”
“If I don’t, are you gonna accidentally start a fire with her toaster?”
“No—”
“Lumine?” Sera’s voice rang out as she approached them again, pulling a coat around her shoulders and fastening it while she spoke from behind the couch. “Morning. I’m going out for groceries. You two can come with me, you could probably use heavier jackets if you’re going to end up stuck here for awhile. Make sure Kody knows he can pick out whatever he needs for cooking if you two come along.”
“Oh! You were doing that today, that’s right…” Lumine’s awkward laugh rose again as he moved to sit on the couch, leaning forward against the backing to talk more directly to Sera.
“What’s she saying?” Kody looked from Sera to Lumine, one eyebrow raised. “She doesn’t seem like she’s in a hurry anymore.”
“She said she’s going out for groceries, and that we can go with her.”
Kody grew quiet for a moment, hands holding tight to the edge of the blanket as he watched Lumine, expression unchanging, wait for an answer. He could still feel Sera standing behind the couch, no longer hurrying around the room.
“We don’t have to go out, Kody. If you don’t want to. She trusts us to stay here, I mean…”
“Come on.” Kody slowly pushed himself up, dropping the blanket onto the couch behind him. “It’s a new day, let’s go. Can’t sit here moping forever.”
“Are you sure…?” Lumine’s brows furrowed as he turned to look up at the other. Don’t push yourself… He tacked on silently.
Kody huffed, frowning at Sera first, and then Lumine. “I mean. Ask her if she’s actually thinking of going out before eating breakfast, just running off of coffee is a stupid idea.”
