Fr., 24.11.2023, 21:00 Uhr: DESTROY ALL GONDOLAS (IT) + GŪTARA KYŌ (JP) Komet Musik Bar, Hamburg
Tumblr media
GŪTARA KYŌ
For our 200th release, we found the ultimate band in Kobe, Japan: GŪTARA KYŌ, which coincidentally roughly translates to “Crazy Slovenlies”. Blaring this record brought us back to the first time we heard BAD BRAINS as teenagers, which sent blood rushing into the skull, pulsing & curdling in our adolescent disbelief & delight, the kind of sensation adults try to recreate by sniffing things into their noses. There is a youthful fury & hilarity in Matsumoto-san’s Japanese hollerings, over a piercing skree from album start to finish which is at times almost painful on the eardrums. Somehow simultaneously harnessing the staggering garage punk exuberance of TEENGENERATE and the blistering hardcore urgency of LOS CRUDOS, perfect imperfection has been achieved on this immaculate 10-inch slab of filth. Previously only available as a CD on Bakudan (JP), now on Slovenly’s Mondo Mongo imprint. (Slovenly)
DESTROY ALL GONDOLAS
Insto-surf pushed to the limit of a frantic black-thrash metal aural assault, “Laguna Di Satana” is a weird garage-punk tale evoking post-apocalyptic, exotic landscapes, often trespassing the wall of sound of hardcore with sporadic bitterly ironic shouted lyrics both in english and italian. In the twisted minds of Destroy All Gondolas references goes from LINK WRAY to BLACK SABBATH to MAYHEM to JOHNNY THUNDERS.

DESTROY ALL GONDOLAS / GŪTARA KYŌ 7″ SPLIT
OUT 26 MAY!
Slovenly’s first ever split 7inch is finally here, a mere 250-some releases after kicking shit off back in the stone age of the 20th century, and this nasty platter is geared with an ungodly racket from two of our very favorite purveyors of supersonic catastrophe! From Venice, Italy, our squid ink pasta slurping pal who sometimes goes by the name WASTED PIDO when striking out on his own trash rock excursions, rounds up his wee crew DESTROY ALL GONDOLAS for their side “Death By Hamburger,” and we promise you it sounds as dumb as it sounds. Kobe, Japan youth gone mad GŪTARA KYŌ - the stars of our 200th release, the self-titled 10” with a big hole that shocked the world stupid in 2017 - are back with two tracks in which they attempt to destroy Destroy All Gondolas for the most epic clash of the titans since Godzilla versus Megalon. Which mob will emerge victorious? All we know for certain is without this record on your hi-fi, the only loser is YOU.

Went on some bike adventures. I’m gonna get better at doing things after work.
Met up with the Skitchers to have a few drinks for a Fundraiser for one of our homies is in the hospital.
Met up with Taka, Luis, and Miguel at the Bike Oven for a bike ride around the LA River and they did the Kobe ride. I wanted to get home early so they escorted me safely back to my exit. A
Went to a bar, it was cool. People were nice. Bike was secure so I didn’t have to worry about it, got to relax.
I worked in the office 3 times this week, so got some miles in. Friday I biked home the long way through the beach. It was a nice ride. I biked through Venice Beach and ran into a car show.
Took some photos and had a beer for dinner, biked through Marina Del Rey then Culver City and then home. Working on my anxiety on doing things after work. Good times
Pokemongo Community Day was fun, went to Farmer’s Market played for some shinies
And this morning I rode to a coffeehouse Santa Monica and back. Short ride and wanted to get home early.
Things are well and I’m glad I’m seeing so many new things around my cities.
