Cat and Lantern by Koson Kohara.
In fact, it is based on an earlier work, Cat and Chochin by Kiyochika Kobayashi. While Kiyochika's work shows a rat lurking inside a lantern, Koson's work depicts a slightly later moment in Kiyochika's life, when the rat escapes from the lantern and the cat catches it.

This is a landscape by the Meiji-era printmaker Kiyochika Kobayashi. Kobayashi created woodblock prints that expressed three-dimensionality and shading by newly incorporating perspective, shading, and other techniques that were formerly used in Western painting. Even in the images introduced here, from the light reflected on the surface of the water at night to the soft hues of the sky after rain, they are depicted with expressions not found in the nishikie of the Edo period!
