concept, cause the dynamics at play would be super interesting:
when Tuk and Neytiri are sucked into the hold of the Seadragon, what if Spider, unwilling to watch another one of this baby siblings, nor his siblings mother (despite everything cause he's a good kid), die without doing anything, jumps in after them?
they're now stuck in a flooding ship, spider knows his way around to a decent extent, they're all tired, they're all scared, they're all hurting. they have to depend on each other for survival.
Neytiri has to not only trust Spider, but has to follow his lead, has to trust him to guide her around a demon ship, has to untrust not only her own life, but the life of her youngest child to this boy.
Maybe they're separated, they have to find one another (my personal favorite scenario is that Tuk and Spider are together and he has to try and find her/guide Neytiri to him)
Spider taking Neytiri and Tuk's arms so they aren't separated by stray currents and raging waters (a parallel to "Sully's stick together"). Spider talking them through the breath holds he learned as a kid in case his mask malfunctioned before bringing them through the depths of the submerged ship (parallel to Jake and Lo'ak)
anyway. I just can't stop thinking about it. think about it.
Neytiri is faced with the fact that Spider jumped in after her and Tuk. he came for them, he put himself in danger to save them, to save her daughter. even after what she did to him. even after she held a knife to him, after she cut him, after she intended to kill him even after Kiri was released. he still jumped to her aid, even if he could have stayed with Kiri above deck where he was safe, he could have just aided Tuk and left her behind, but he didn't.
and there's so many ways to play with it and the aftermath. like.
Spider dragging both Tuk and Neytiri up the surface, trying his best to keep the trio afloat (namely Neytiri who was much less adjusted to the water and is exhausted by the night they've had) as they hope and pray to be reunited with the rest of their family.
maybe the stress gets to them and Spider just starts apologizing. I should have fought them harder. I shouldn't have let Lo'ak and Neteyam try and leave with me, I would have been fine. I should have seen it coming, should have taken it myself. it should have been me. my baby brother shouldn't be dead.
maybe he becomes partly delirious as he too gives into exhaustion, the big brother in him being the only part of him left coherent, so he takes Tuk close, whispering prrnen tsmuke [baby sister] over and over into her braids, assuring himself that she's safe and unharmed. he keeps praying to the Great Mother for his siblings to return to him unharmed. maybe he keeps asking where they are, if they're safe as his awareness fades and his memory weakens. all of his siblings. asking if Neteyam is ok, only to remember he's gone the second the words leave his tongue.
Jake and Lo'ak finding them when they come up with Payakan, both worse for wear, exhausted, clinging to one another, the only thing keeping their heads above water being spiders life vest, Tuk cradled between them. what a sight.
Neytiri watching as Spider looks over each of his siblings, taking them close, holding onto them as if they will be ripped away from him. the realization that he would die before he let that happen again hitting her like a ton of bricks the second she sees the look in his eyes.
a peace being made between the two in the wake of this event. spider silently claiming the role of big brother (he always was, but he had to pretend he wasn't. with Neteyam gone, he can't pretend he's not anymore), Neytiri silently agreeing.
idk man. it would be interesting.

Dynamight's Omega
Katsuki's Omega is usually known for being really cheery and polite to anyone she meets (to the point that they question how she could even put up with the grump himself). One day, everyone at the agency learns that the girl herself has quite the temper and could get very territorial over her Alpha.
Author's note: I've never written a/b/o so go easy on me. I've had this idea for a while and finally had the time to put it into words. Let me know what you think and if you'd like to see more of these two :) (also: this was edited on my phone, so if anything looks wonky or like it's meant to be cut out, it probably is. I'll fix it later lmao)
Alpha!Katsuki who's mated to the sweetest little omega. Most people question how someone so soft spoken could be compatible with the blonde. Everyone knows Bakugou Katsuki comes with a very harsh demeanor. Pair that with his large frame and he is quite the force to be reckoned with. He's a far cry from being anything like his best friend Alpha!Eijirou, who often forces Bakugou to wear scent blockers at their shared agency so he doesn't stink out the whole place and scare the omegas that work for them.
The first time Bakugou’s omega ever visited the office, she was bringing him the lunch he forgot at home. She was all nervous smiles in a short sundress as she walked up to the front desk and asked to be pointed in the direction of the two hero's offices. No one working at the agency had thought anything of it at first. Everyone knew the rumors that Red Riot had a partner, and the large mating mark on her neck had them assuming she was here go see him. It wasn't until the two pro heros themselves stepped out of a meeting room and into her path that the employees realized they were very, very wrong.
The Omega's eyes lit up upon seeing the two alphas, her scent just a bit more potent now with excitement. “Hey, Kiri!” She greets the redhead with a wave before simply stepping past him to get to Bakugou.
“Omega,” The blonde’s deep voice greets, vermillion eyes watching the girl with only the kind of intensity Bakugou Katsuki could emit.
The girl grins, meeting his gaze and dipping her head for a moment in greeting. “Hi, alpha.” She doesn't shy away from his gaze as he continues to stare her down. There's a low rumble in his chest as he takes in her appearance, chest swelling with pride at his girl coming to visit him with the mark he left on display for everyone to see. She holds up the bento in her hands after a few moments, blushing some now as she becomes aware of all the eyes on them. “You forgot your lunch,” she says in way of explanation, handing it over to him. Katsuki doesn't miss the way she starts bouncing nervously, thanking her with a kiss to her temple and guiding her to his office with a hand on her lower back, her soft voice carrying down the hallway as she fills him in on her day so far.
No one says anything for a beat before excited chatter starts up and Kiri finds himself chuckling, simply announcing to come find him should anyone need anything before stalking off to his own office.
Dynamight usually kept his personal life private, so it came as a pleasant surprise when the girl kept showing up after that first visit. They learned that after she mated to Bakugou, he urged her to quit her part time job and focus on school. Her goal was to one day be a successful writer and she was always sharing her ideas with her friends. Sometimes she would bring in cookies she had made for everyone, and she was often seen stopping by to drop off coffee for the two pro heroes. Occasionally, on those days, Bakugou would be seen walking her out after a spell, her face flushed and his hair evidently out of place. More often than not, however, she brings her laptop and headphones and settles herself in Katsuki’s office to get work done. He's even come back from patrol to her napping on his couch unannounced. The next day, Pro Hero Dynamight was seen walking into his agency with blankets and a pillow in tow to make the space more comfortable for his girl. He made sure to scent everything thoroughly and reminded her constantly that his office was always open should she need it, no matter the circumstances. Days like that presented a new side to the grumpy alpha. Beneath the hard exterior and seemingly permanent scowl he was actually a lovesick fool. He looked at his girl like she put the stars in the sky herself and he was willing to do anything and everything for her, consequences be damned.
One day the omega trudges into the office, dressed down in sweats for the day. The second she walks through the door, it's evident she’s in a horrible mood. The last week had been really stressful and it was showing in the way her hair was messily thrown up and her eyes were bloodshot from crying. She stalked right past everyone in the office, having a one track mind towards the comfort of her alpha. She knew Katsuki didn't have patrol and would just be hanging around the office for the day. She figured they could order food and she could just spend a little time with him while he worked.
What she did not expect, however, was to find Katsuki, /her/ alpha, walking out of a meeting room with another woman who was laughing at something he said, her hand reaching up towards his arm. Dynamight’s omega was moving before she could think, her instincts completely kicking in as she lost rational thought. Before she realized it was happening, she had the poor woman pinned to the closest wall with an arm, lips pulled back in a snarl to show her omegan fangs.
There's a collective gasp that runs throughout the office, everyone shocked to see this kind of behavior from her. Not once had she ever indicated that she could be anything but polite. The commotion even had Red Riot peeking out of his office. Bakugou finds himself bristling at the smell of the other alpha, resisting the urge to growl at anyone who was making a spectacle out of the situation. He pushes those feelings away, taking a deep breath before calling her name. He sucks his teeth when he doesn't receive a response from her, realizing she has lost herself to her more primal instincts.
“Omega.” His voice is a bit deeper than usual with the command, fully stepping into his role as her alpha, his skin itching with the need to get her to the safety of his office. The word reaches her ears and it takes a few painstakingly slow seconds before she's submitting, fighting the urge to let out a whimper when she comes to and finally steps away. Despite being an Omega, what most people don't know, is that his girl has quite the stubborn personality and she's never been one to back down easily. It's one of the first things that had him chasing after her after they first met. He wanted an equal in his relationship - someone who was going to bite back and level with him when needed.
“If I ever catch you so much as look at-”
“Omega.” He doesn't raise his voice but ever so slightly, the deep tone telling her it's time to back off for good. Katsuki is close to snatching her up himself to carry her away before she finally shoves last his large frame and stomps into his office. He waits to hear the click of door closing before he's rushing out apologies to the poor woman and reassuring her nothing like that will ever happen again.
When he's done walking the woman out, he heads back to his office to find his sweet little omega sitting down on his couch with blankets wrapped snuggly around her shoulders and big fat tears streaming down her face. She blabbers out apologies the second she sees him, pouting. His expression softens as he takes in the sight of her and it's in that moment that he decides they can talk about her little moment another day. He knew she was having a bad week, but he had no clue it would ever turn into something like this, and his alpha is all but screaming at him to care for his mate. In a matter of seconds, he has her pulled into his lap, holding her securely to his rumbling chest in an effort to soothe her.
It was that day that everyone in the agency learned just why the Omega was with someone as harsh as Dynamight. It was clear that despite her usually bubbly personality, the girl had the kind of fire in her veins that could only rival that of her own alpha.

Missing You
KiriBakuDeku x Little Reader
I felt bad halfway and decided that hey why not have her realize that she was neglecting Kiri and Deku by only wanting Baku. Thanks for the request though, halfway through all of them atp
Tumblr media
Midoriya and Kirishima noticed a shift in their dynamic it started the week Bakugou was away for hero work. She acted normally the first few days he was away but the last few she wouldn’t stop crying. Out of headspace she understood that he was working but in her headspace she felt alone.
While she had two of her caregivers it still felt weird for Bakugou to not be there. He was the one that would read her bedtime stories and make sure she ate her vegetables. Yet without him there she felt as if she couldn’t do those things.
It took everything in Midoriya and Kirishima to try and calm her down at nights. They tried their luck at reading her bedtime stories but it wasn’t the same. The way he used silly voices for characters or would cut her carrots up into little stars. She missed it.
“How about Llama Llama?”
“No…”
“What about-”
“No, wan daddy.”
“I don’t think this is working, Eijirou.”
So the day that Bakugou returned Midoriya and Kirishima were relieved. Bakugou knew the second he got home that she was less than corporative with her other caregivers. It was evident in the dark circles under their eyes and the concern they held when she finally saw Bakugou.
Y/N on the other hand was happy as she no longer had a reason to cry at night. The second dinner was over and she had her bath she crawled her way into Bakugou’s lap. Her head was against his chest as she listened to his heart beat. He didn’t waste time as he rubbed her back in a soothing manner.
“I’ve heard you’ve been crying all week, what’s that about?”
She let out a small noise of surprise at his words her pacifier discarded as she looked up at him.
“I know it sometimes seems scary when one of us is away from you. But no matter what we will always come back, understand?”
She nodded her head listening to him speak as she did her best to process his words.
“Good, but also remember that when one of us is away the other two still love you just as much. We all hate to see you cry and it hurts when you only want one of us.”
Thinking back on the week she remembered how distant she was with Midoriya and Kirishima. How she would cry even when they did their best to cheer her up and make her smile. She knew they were trying their hardest to make her happy but she didn’t care much at the time.
Bakugou’s eyebrows furrow at her warbling bottom lip, “no need to cry muffin, they still love you. It’s okay..”
The sound of her crying alerted Midoriya and Kirishima who made their way into the bedroom. “Is she okay?” “Are you alright, baby?”
The concern in their voices made her sniffle was she reached out for them. Her arms didn’t stay empty for long as Kirishima followed by Midoriya wrapped her up in a hug.
“Sowwy.”
“Don’t be sorry, baby.”
“Yeah we understand, Izuku cries a lot when Katsuki leaves too.”
“Eijirou! I don’t cry!”
“Sure.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?!”
“It means sure.”
Y/N didn’t care much for their argument as she snores lightly with her head on Bakugou’s chest. A smile on her face as she snuggled against the rather explosive man, happy.

You
Lo'ak x Tayrangi! Reader
Warnings: mistaken identity kind of, teens having fun, arranged marriage, fighting/arguments, how they meet is very 101 Dalmatians and i love it, they're both oblivious asf
Tumblr media
Neytiri sent Lo'ak to go collect fruits from the grove near the other end of the Omaticaya territory. Normally he'd complain about extra chores, but not today. It was one of the better tasks to be landed with, anyway, even if it would consume his whole day.
But then Jake said Lo'ak could take his ikran, and that would cut the journey in half at least. Maybe more, since Lo'ak, like every other teenager, was all too fond of letting his ikran set the pace. Which, more often than not, simply meant break-neck speed, especially since Lo'ak's ikran was as young as himself in ikran years, according to Neytiri, and just as headstrong.
Lo'ak's ikran, named Spitfire by Jake in one of his rare moments of fatherly affection, was raring to go, practically launching himself into the air the second Lo'ak settled on his back and made the bond.
Kiri had, at one point, taken to calling the ikran Spitty, resulting in Lo'ak pitching a fit and pulling her hair, which then meant days of not speaking to each other. Lo'ak still got sulky every time he remembered the undignified name.
Lo'ak whooped, punching his fist in the air, gripping tightly with his thighs and trusting Spitfire not to let him fall, or at least to catch him if he did. The wind whistled past him, snatching at his braids, whipping a brisk flush into his face.
It was a good day. The sun was already high in the sky, warm on his back despite the wind. The air was heady with the scent of flowers coaxed into bloom by the warm weather, even at this height.
Spitfire, after a little urging from Lo'ak, evened out, gliding smoothly through the sky, occasionally letting out a screech of contentment. Lo'ak settled back, keeping one hand on the handle and feeling for the pouch strapped across his hips Neytiri had given to him to store the fruits in, making sure it was strapped on securely.
It wouldn't take him long to gather enough fruits to satisfy Neytiri. Maybe a few hours.
Maybe more if he decided to take a nap. Lo'ak loved naps, especially deep in the forest amidst the undergrowth, where he could burrow himself into the sun-warm grass and no one would bother him for hours. He probably liked them so much because they restored all the energy he burned living up to Jake's expectations. Very high expectations.
Yeah, he could use a nap. It was just that kind of day.
And it would give him time to think, too. About what his parents had told him a few days ago. About how, since Neteyam had mated with the youngest child of the Olangi olo'eyktan, Lo'ak would do the same, but with the only child of the Tayrangi olo'eykte.
It would benefit the Omaticaya, Neytiri had soothed him, smoothing a hand over his braids. These kinds of unions would prevent any conflict and better the relationships with other tribes. Jake, on the other hand, had told him there was no wriggling out of it, and he'd be mating with this stranger before the end of the year whether he liked it or not.
Comforting, right?
Neteyam had tried to comfort him over it. It was easy for Neteyam. He and his mate were arranged too, but they were crazy about each other, and Neteyam had always wanted to settle down and have a mate of his own and a family anyway. It was why he'd bent so easily to their parents' decision.
And it was easy for Kiri too. She was their dad's favourite, his babygirl. She wouldn't get married off to Aonung or some other guy if she didn't want to. Lucky shit.
Tuk was... well, she didn't have to worry about marriage for a good while yet.
But Lo'ak did. He didn't care about maintaining good relationships with other tribes, or having a mate of his own and settling down. He didn't care about any of that shit. He just wanted his freedom, and the freedom to choose who he mated with. Was that too much to ask?
Apparently so.
Spitfire shrieked, and a ripple of confusion and panic hit Lo'ak through the bond, right as something large and colourful shot past them like a flash of lightning.
Lo'ak caught a glimpse of a face with an equally panicked expression, then swore as Spitfire reared and shrieked again. Though this time, instead of confusion in the bond, all Lo'ak felt was a sudden burst of childish joy, right before Spitfire dived after the other ikran.
Lo'ak yelled in exhilaration as both ikrans went into a nosedive, and crouched low over Spitfire's back, knuckles going white as he tightened his grip. It was dangerous, and if his parents found out, he'd never hear the end of it, but they weren't here now and Lo'ak found this was too much fun for him to care.
He whooped, and heard an answering cry from the rider of the other ikran below, you, which made something in his heart twist with further excitement.
Spitfire was uncontrollable with the excitement of having what was probably another young ikran to play with, and Lo'ak let him have his head, content to just go along for the ride.
The other ikran straightened out before it hit the canopy, and Spitfire followed, flying alongside, steadying himself with a few flaps.
"Sorry," you called, face flushed and apologetic, but then began laughing breathlessly. "Great Mother, I am so sorry! Kikorangi- my ikran- saw you down below and he just took off-"
"It's okay," Lo'ak shouted back, smiling uncontrollably at you. You were probably the most attractive person he'd ever seen, so one couldn't exactly blame him for being so quick to forgive you for the scare. "But I've never seen you before. You're not Omaticaya, are you?"
He didn't have to ask. He knew you weren't. You looked like a young warrior from another tribe, like him. Your skin was covered in a pearly white paint, in swirling patterns. It was mesmerising.
"What?" you called, then raised your eyes skyward, laughing again. "I can't hear you. Wait there."
Lo'ak blinked, confused, as you steered your ikran up and over his head, flying along above him. He tilted his head back, looking up, trying to see what you were doing, only to nearly smack heads with you. You were performing some risky manoeuvre, sliding around to the underbelly of your ikran, gripping on with only your thighs, swinging upside down and smiling at Lo'ak, eyes bright and beautiful, nose nearly brushing against his.
You chuckled at his stunned expression, then righted yourself and leapt down onto Spitfire, breaking the bond with your own ikran. Spitfire jerked at the foreign addition to his cargo, and tilted his head, shooting you a baleful look.
Lo'ak stiffened as you seated yourself behind him, one arm loosely around his stomach, making his abs tense beneath your warm skin, your thighs pressing against his own. "Sorry, what were you saying?" you asked airily, mouth next to his twitching ear, like this wasn't the most intimate position he'd ever been in.
Words failed him. He could only hold very still, in the hopes you wouldn't become uncomfortable and move away. He liked having you there, the weight of your body against his back comforting.
But you shifted back, away from him, laughing again, and the sound rang through his mind, etching itself into the walls of his skull. "Sorry," you apologised for a third time. "I didn't mean to freak you out."
"It's okay," Lo'ak replied almost robotically, words feeling clumsy and foreign on his tongue. Great Mother, get it together! he told himself firmly. There's a beautiful warrior cuddling up to you, wanting to talk and all you can say is it's okay?!
He forced himself to relax, turning his head and smiling crookedly at you over his shoulder.
Your face was like the sun. You seemed to be lit with a golden, gleaming warmth from the inside out, and it honestly made him a little dizzy.
"I was just asking what tribe you're from," he repeated.
"Tayrangi," you answered blithely. "You must be Omaticaya, I guess."
Lo'ak nodded, noting that you were from the same tribe as his future mate. He didn't want to bring that up, though, figuring if he was to have any chance with you he shouldn't bring up his imminent union.
Even though he wouldn't be able to pursue you because of said union... What the tribes didn't know couldn't hurt them, right?
"That's sick," Lo'ak said, smiling that same lopsided smile at you. "Never met any from the Tayrangi before."
"Never met an Omaticaya before either," you grinned back, leaning back on your hands.
"Am I living up to your expectations?" he teased, gathering all his courage to do so, ears drooping slightly in apprehension of your response.
"Who said I had any expectations?" you teased back, nudging the back of his thigh with your knee, sending hot flames of want up his spine.
Lo'ak rolled his eyes, but couldn't hide his delight at finding someone who could match him blow for verbal blow. "Oh, come on!" he scoffed. "You came all the way here, you must've thought about what we'd be like at some point!"
"Maybe I did," you agreed, and the glint in your eyes told him you were being purposefully elusive.
"Go on, then," he encouraged. "Am I everything you hoped?"
You pretended to think, finger pressing into your chin, eyes fixed on the clouds above. Then you smiled again. "Nope."
Lo'ak scoffed again, preparing to fire back some surely witty retort, before you inched forward again, leaning on his back, arm tightening around his middle again, pressing your lips to his ear decisively.
"You're better."

༺☆༻
ronal will introduce you to her spirit sister, ro'a. her spirit sister means so much to her, just like you, so she wants both of her favourite girls to like each other.
spider wants to learn everything about everything! he only lived with the sully's (omaticaya people/forest na'vi) so that's the only na'vi he knows. you are so different and so beautiful, he can't get enough.
neteyam often catches himself staring at you from behind. he watches after you so if anything happens; he can protect you. he also admires you.
tuk sees you as her new big sister and she always wants to pet baby ilu's with you or feed the big ones with sea leaves.
quaritch will probably 'kidnap' you from your village to have you close to him, because nobody can know about your relationship, for now.
tsu'tey will often provoke you; like flick your ear or pinch your hip just to see how your ears went back and you cringe your nose, it always makes him laugh. you also hit his arm right after that.
every morning, tonowari looks at your bottom cloith and then add something to his own, to match yours. like a feather or a shell that's the same color.
trudy wants you to tattoo her, because when she saw the traditional oceanic na'vi tattoo (because metkayina is just a clan, yk) she fell in love with them!
kiri will dive with you for HOURS, while exploring the sea together. different animals and plants, rocks and crystals, all of this while spending time with you, she loves it!
tsireya loves to hold your hand and she will, all the time! it bring her comfort, she also often swings them while walking or stroke your thumb.
neytiri will make you a lot of tops, bracelets, necklaces,... but she will use gifts from the sea. she'll also make you matching ones, which is always magical.
every time you take a nap, ao'nung will become your bed, and he LOVES it. like one time he layed on a rock with you on top of him while the sea waves were still touching your legs.
grace will love to learn your ways and like 'study' you. it brings her curiosity back (because she probably knows everything about forest na'vi) which somehow makes her feel young and loved.
jake always admires how elegant are you in the water. you look so magnificent, so divine. he could watch you all day without getting tired of it.
when you said that payakan may not be a killer, lo'ak fell in love immediately. it meant a lot to him, he also trusts you with his life now.
trudy will love swimming with you. i feel like she did many sports as a child so it brings her nostalgia, she can also spends time with her love.
spider will protect you at all cost, and slowly he'll become loyal only to you, not to quaritch, not to rda, not to the sully's, not even to kiri, just to you.
ronal will often massage you. it's her way of saying 'you did really good today, i love you'.
tsu'tey can dance and he will dance with you pretty often because he loves it! he can hold you close while looking at your beautiful face, but he surprisingly also likes the dancing.
quaritch will get your name tattooed near his heart on his chest, as a sign of loyalty and love that he holds for you.
racing on skimwings is one of tonowari's favourite activity to do with you. he always laughs when you fell off or when you laugh that he fell off. your laugh warms his heart so he's falling off pretty often.
neteyam will often bring you different sea flowers or land crystals that catches his eyes while training, hunting or just walking that remains him of you.
tsireya loves when you braid her hair, you massage her scalp while kissing her forehead and you always manage to find the perfect hairstyle for her.
neytiri will try to learn how to ride an ilu because of you, but most of the time she's on her ikran right above you, protecting you from the sky. but if you try to learn how to ride an ikran, she'd be pleased!
you are basically an idol to tuk. she really admires you, she finds you funny, gorgeous and strong. it's cute, really.
ao'nung will often hunt with you because he's one of the best metkayina hunters so he can show off his skills. he wants to impress you and let you know that you are safe with him.
kiri has some spiritual connection with you, just like she has with eywa so she feels safe with you. you are her true home.
lo'ak secretly practiced diving and holding his breath every night, just so he can impress you the next day and spend more time playing and talking than learning.
jake will tease you, how he already managed to ride a skimwing in a such a short time and then race you, his mouth is wide open every time you win; which is almost every time.
grace has three photos of you she once took and she has them placed; first near her bed, second in her notebook and third in her lab, so she can always look at your face when she misses you.

Cute early days Sully family head canons 💕
more head canons here
1. Jake and Neytiri picked out five names and then let the kids pick their favorite and they chose Tuktirey.
2. Kiri was their pickiest eater and she would hardly eat anything when they were first introducing her to solid food. She'll eat anything now but Jake and Neytiri seriously worried she would go her whole life eating like five things when she was little.
3. Neteyam learned to talk fast but to walk slow. He learned very quickly walking was a hassle and he'd rather be carried everywhere. Being the first born, his parents could rarely say no to him.
4. As a baby Tuk slept the best out of any of them, but cried the most when she was awake.
5. Spider and Lo'ak's first words were both "no"
6. Lo'ak was Neytiri's hardest pregnancy, he caught the hiccups and kicked more than her other kids and she was the sickest with him.
7. Every time Kiri went outside she would find a rock, leaf, twig, etc. and insist she needed to keep it forever. They gave her a designated treasure spot and it was really starting to get out of control by the time she (mostly) grew out of it.
8. Lo'ak learned to walk and then immediately after he leaned to climb on anything and everything. The number of times he gave Jake a heart attack because he blinked and then Lo'ak was somewhere he shouldn't be is too many too count.
9. Kiri held Tuk constantly when she was a baby, it was practically the only thing Kiri wanted to do when she was born. She would sing to her whenever Tuk was awake to keep her happy.
10. Kiri was the first to make baby Tuk laugh and Lo'ak was the first to make baby Kiri laugh.
11. Lo'ak and Spider butted heads constantly when they were little and Neteyam always had to break up their fights before they could start throwing punches.
12. Lo'ak would do that thing we're a toddler thinks they're speaking the same language as you but they're really just speaking gibberish but they do it with perfect rhythm. He would explain things, tell stories, and argue constantly in gibberish.
13. Kiri was the cuddliest out of any of them, and snuggled with Jake and Neytiri constantly.
14. Spider used to talk with so many hand gestures he was always very entertaining to listen too.
15. Neteyam was always the hardest to put down for a nap.
16. Spider begged Jake to tell him earth stories whenever they were together and Jake was kind of sad when he became a teen and stopped asking.
17. Tuk's first word was a swear word taught to her by Spider and Lo'ak.
18. Tuk and Neteyam we're very ticklish, Lo'ak and Kiri would laugh at anything and Spider was very ticklish and would also laugh at anything.
19. Lo'ak, Spider, and Kiri are all early risers but Neteyam and Tuk are night owls and like to sleep in.
20. Tuk mispronounced words for a long time because the other kids would start calling things by whatever way she pronounced it and never corrected her. Jake and Neytiri also found it too adorable too correct.

Hi! Could you do a Ao’nung x Sully reader where Ao’nung is kind of a jerk to everyone (as he is) but with the reader it’s a more needy kind of attitude? But like still kind of bratty? (If that makes sense?) and Ao’nung and reader get caught by the others doing something cute (like napping together). I don’t know, just like something really fluffy. Thank you
A Different Side of him.
Tumblr media
Pairings: Aonung x Sully Reader.
Warnings: Slight bullying, kinda fluffy.
Summary: Aonung is a big jerk, a bratty boy who just wants love from his favorite person.
A/n: This is my first request, the first actual one, and that made me super excited! Soooo, with that being said I really hope I did this justice for you, I’m sorry it’s short Anonie babes! Sorry, it took me so long babes. Enjoy!
꒦꒷❀꒷꒦༻❀✿❀༺꒦꒷❀꒷꒦༻❀✿❀༺ ꒦꒷❀꒷꒦
It seemed like Aonung's favorite pass time was bullying others, and he wasn't bullying someone he was downright being an asshole just for the fun of it. Especially when it came to your family, at least until you came around. His attitude towards you was something completely different than how he normally was.
It was like gone was the asshole you witness bully your siblings for being different and in place was this whiny bratty male who only desired to have you close at all times. With you, Aonung tended to be very sweet and caring. He was attentive and touchy, very bratty when you denied him things like hugs and kisses, overall, he seemed like he'd be the absolute perfect mate.
One day while walking along the beach with your sister Kiri and your best friend Tsireya you spotted him on the beach picking with your twin brother. You watched as he poked fun at your brother for his human features, the same human features that you, yourself have possessed. He never acted this way with you though, always finding your brother and sister to be easy pickings.
Once you were close enough you could hear bits of what Aonung was saying. "Look at that funny hand Sully." and "Those look like hairy bugs over your eyes." You couldn't help but roll your eyes, his jokes were never funny, but it was his thing. You stayed back a little to make sure nothing worse happened, and once you felt it was safe you walked away.
You were tired and needed a much-needed break, so you snuck off to your favorite place, letting the sounds of nature fill your ears. You weren't too far from the village but far enough away that you wouldn't be so easily bothered. You let yourself relax in the sand, the sounds of the wildlife around you putting you to sleep.
Aonung had grown tired of the bullying and picking and was in desperate need of your touch and attention, he searched all over the village for you before he decided to check your favorite spot. Once there he had found you sound asleep on the warm sand, the sigh tog you looked so peaceful, but he wanted your attention. A loud whine fell from his lips, the sound pulling you from your slumber.
"Shh nung, come lay with me." You cooed.
"No i require kisses and cuddles, I do not wish to sleep yawne. I want your attention." His whining continued, his attitude pulling a laugh from you as you opened your arms for him. With much reluctance he finally made himself at home in your arms, his face buried into your neck after stealing kisses from your soft lips. He was satisfied with the closeness and warmth your body provided him.
The steady rising and falling of your breathing paid with the sound of your heartbeat lulled him to sleep, and you soon followed after him.
a few hours had passed, and you were vaguely aware of the sound of people speaking around you, just barely making out the voices of Loak, Tsireya, and Neteyam as they all spoke.
"Let's use this as blackmail," Loak said before continuing, the sound of displeasure heavy as he spoke. "I knew there was a reason he never picked on them." His quiet grumbles nearly made you giggle.
"They look so cute let them sleep!" Came Reyas soft voice.
You were now wide awake as you continued to lay there cuddled up with Aonung on your chest, you knew by the change in his breathing he was awake now as well. "We should wake them before our parents go looking for them, it's nearly eclipse.'' Declared Neteyam until Kiri spoke.
"They are already awake brother."
With a sheepish smile, you sat up slightly with Aonung, your eyes looking over at him before the others standing before you. "We can explain."

Neytiri’s Selfcare Day Headcanon
Authors Note: Found this in my drafts with some dust collecting lol
Neytiri’s self care day:🦋✨🌱🥭🌲🍯
Tumblr media
It’s rare enough for Neytiri to get a day of solitude let alone the time to take extra care of herself away from the kids
She feels guilty at first when she leaves Jake alone with all of them, but he constantly reassures her to go for the day and enjoy herself
She starts off with a hunt. Nothing makes her feel more exhilarated than going back to her roots as a hunter
She typically cleans herself in the communal hot springs on busy days with the clan, even though the family of the Olo’eyktan has a private spot
She makes use of the privacy for once and brings all her salves and scrubs
She loves exfoliating her scalp with a homemade scrub, and then lathering her braids with liquid from the Panopyra plant
She decides that if she’s going to really take care of her hair, she might as well just unbraid her luxurious locks and really get into it
She loves using the healing rose oil to care for her braids and rub gingerly onto her scalp helping to lock in the moisture
She uses the humid air to air dry her hair which is quite wavy out of her braids
She’ll go and find a giant tree branch in the canopy after collecting some fruits and just sit there for a bit enjoying the sounds of the jungle
She snacks on bananafruit, bladder polyps she packed earlier, and some episoth seeds
She can’t help herself and thinks about the kids so she ends up collecting a bunch of rocks that remind her of them
She will take her time rebraiding her hair gently weaving it all together. After she’s done she’ll finish up with some more oil like Lionberry oil to keep her hair shiny and healthy
She loves the Forest Hive Nectar. Clear in color and floral in scent, it makes an excellent moisturizer when combined with some ground up dried Vineshrooms to make a paste, and will rub it into her skin all over her body and face which acts as a nice moisturizer. It has a nice minty smell to it
After a little nap she collects some herbs for her mother and Kiri smiling about it as she harvests them and makes her way back home feeling relaxed and rejuvenated

Can you write a snippet of Quaritch following through with his version of “an old school ass whipping”
Nothing too serious because I don’t think he’d abuse Spider but I do think he’d be the type of parent to resort to physical discipline if pushed enough.
In the exchange between him and Spider, Spider does not seemed alarmed with fear and is actually a little cheeky. I think he’s used to adults just letting him get away with things.
I think it’s be interesting to read Spider’s reaction to an adult/authority figure disciplining him (whether physical or some other punishment) for not following instructions rather than just checking to see if he has not been harmed.
It doesn’t have to relate to him running off which is where Quaritch uses the threat. It could be anything.
Okay, so I know you requested me to write about Quaritch disciplining Spider, but I’ve seen that explored a bunch of times before, and honestly, after what I wrote in Blood Is Thicker Than Water, I’ve kind of gotten a bad taste in my mouth for writing disciplinary scenes involving Quaritch. Idk why, but your ask gave me inspiration for a scene of Jake disciplining Spider instead, and it ended up taking a pretty different direction than your request. Sorry that this isn’t exactly what you requested, but I wanted to write something that I haven’t seen explored by other writers before, so I hope you still enjoy it!
Lucky Number Five (6k words)
One.
Two.
Three.
Jake counted the children in the marui, and then he counted them again. Tuk napped in the back corner of their home, nestled among her blankets. That was one. Lo’ak stood at the entrance of the marui, waving goodbye to Tsireya. That brought the count up to two. In the center, by the cookfire, Kiri helped Neytiri chop fish and vegetables for a stew. That made three.
It had been a week since the battle at Three Brothers Rock, but Jake still had to bite back the instinct to look for number four. His heart told him to count again; told him that if he checked just one more time he would see Neteyam tucking the blankets tighter around Tuk, or playfully teasing Lo’ak, or asking Neytiri if she needed any more help with dinner, but his mind knew better than his heart. No matter how many times he counted, there would never be a number four.
However, he was still missing a number. Jake didn’t know when exactly he started doing this, but at some point in his parenting career, he’d assigned a number to each of his children, and that number was the order in which he would always check on them based on the likelihood that they would need adult supervision. Maybe it was just his way of keeping track of so many kids, or maybe it was some leftover instinct to “sound off” from his Marine days. Whatever the case, the system worked for him. As the youngest and most delicate, Tuk was always the first child he checked on. Coming in second place was Lo’ak, the resident trouble-maker. Number three was Kiri, more responsible than Lo’ak, but still prone to making trouble of her own on occasion. Neteyam, as the oldest and most mature of the bunch, was number four, the last child he checked on because he was the least likely to be in trouble.
One, two, three, four. Jake had sounded off the mental count thousands of times over the years whenever he needed to make sure all of his children were accounted for. But the count didn’t always stop there. Sometimes, not most of the time, but sometimes there was a fifth child on the list, tacked onto the end more out of courtesy than anything.
Jake counted again just to be sure.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Number five was missing.
“Where’s Spider?” He asked the question so suddenly, that it startled everyone. Tuk peered out sleepily from her blankets, and Kiri and Neytiri gave him confused looks from across the cookfire.
“Huh?” Asked Lo’ak as he came to sit down next to Tuk.
“I asked where Spider is. I told all of you to be back home before sundown. It’s almost dark, so where is he?” He directed his question at Kiri, figuring she would be the most likely to know, but all she did was shrug.
“I haven’t seen him since this morning. I’ve been helping Mom and Ronal in the healing marui. I think he said he was going to help Lo’ak with his chores.” She said before turning her attention back to chopping vegetables.
The casual way she answered the question irritated Jake. If Spider wasn’t back by now, it either meant he was willingly disobeying Jake or he was in some kind of trouble. Why was Kiri acting like it was no big deal? His tail started to twitch in frustration as he rounded on Lo’ak. “Have you seen Spider?”
His question came out harsher than he intended it to, making Lo’ak jump slightly. “Uh… yeah, I hung out with him earlier, but he went off with Rotxo in the afternoon. I think he was gonna teach him to spearfish or something?”
“You think?” Jake repeated exasperatedly.
“I dunno, I wasn’t really paying attention.” Lo’ak said, sheepishly playing with the beads on the ends of his braids.
“Yeah, cause you were too busy looking at Tsireyaaa—“ Tuk giggled in a singsong voice.
Lo’ak threw a blanket at her. “I was not!”
An irritated huff left Jake’s lips as he got to his feet. “I’m going to go find him.”
“Ma Jake,” Neytiri’s voice stopped him in his tracks, “dinner is almost ready. Stay and eat with your family. I’m sure the boy is fine.”
“No, I told everyone to be back here before sundown. It’s sundown and he’s not here, so it’s not fine.” Before Neytiri could get another word in, he left the marui, tail lashing behind him with anxiety.
He rushed through the peaceful village, passing Reef Na’vi settling into their homes for the night. The setting sun painted the sky a deep orange, and a chorus of insects created a soothing symphony for the evening. Everything was so calm, surely nothing was really wrong, right? Despite what he tried to tell himself, images of Spider hurt or dead kept flashing through his mind. He was so consumed with his worries that he nearly ran right into Rotxo.
“Oh! Hi, Jake!” Rotxo greeted him cheerfully once he recovered from nearly losing his balance.
“Rotxo, sorry, didn’t see you there. Have you seen Spider?”
“Yeah, I was teaching him how to spearfish by the diving hole. I think he’s still there—“ Rotxo had barely finished pointing in the direction of the diving hole before Jake was off, making a beeline for it.
The longer it took to reach the hole, the faster he went, so he was practically sprinting by the time he reached it. Jake skidded to a stop on the rocky edge of the hole, startling a few small marine ikran into flight. He frantically looked around for any sign of Spider, but the whole place was deserted. The hole was dead still except for the steady undulations of bioluminescent seaweed dancing in the current, and the swaying of the mangrove branches up above. All he could hear was the gentle sound of waves lapping against rock and the occasional cry of a marine ikran. No sign of number five.
“Dammit!” Jake hissed under his breath. His ears flattened against his skull and his tail thrashed like an angry snake. Now he didn’t know what to do. None of the other children seemed to have any idea where Spider was and Rotxo was his last lead. Awa’atlu’s atoll was a massive area full of hiding places, and Spider was one little human. He could be anywhere.
Just before he made up his mind to start searching somewhere else, a soft sound drew his attention. Down the side of the hole directly to his left, a familiar dreadlocked head surfaced amongst the bioluminescent seaweed.
“Spider!” He called, sprinting across the rocks towards him.
At the sound of his name, Spider turned. Underneath the sheen of his mask, his face split into a wide grin and he started swimming to meet him, a child-sized Metkayina speargun in his hand. “Hey, Jake! What’s up?”
Jake knelt on the edge of sea rock and hauled Spider out of the water by the strap of his exopack as soon as he was in reach. He quickly checked Spider over for any sign of injury or damage to his equipment. As far as he could tell, there was none.
“You alright? Where the hell have you been?”
Spider’s grin faded as he took in the panic in Jake’s body language. “Yeah, I’m fine, I was just practicing the spearfishing stuff Rotxo taught me.”
Jake’s shoulders sagged and he let out a deep sigh as a surge of relief overwhelmed him. It lasted for a grand total of five seconds before it was replaced by a rush of anger. He hadn’t been this scared and angry since Lo’ak had gotten lost beyond the reef.
Jake seized Spider by the shoulders and shook him. His voice came out in a low snarl. “What the hell is the matter with you, boy? Have you just been fucking around out here this whole time?”
Spider’s eyes went wide and he tried to recoil, but Jake’s grip was too tight. “Jake, I— wait— did something happen?”
“You almost gave me a heart attack, that’s what happened!” Jake snapped as he got to his feet.
“Jeez, relax, I’m fine, see? Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Spider said as he gathered up his speargun and stood. Before Jake could get another word in, Spider turned on his heel and started walking away.
Jake’s ears went flat against his skull in a mix of shock and anger at the blatant disrespect. Not even Lo’ak in his most rebellious mood would dare to walk away from him when he was being scolded. It took a lot of effort to keep his voice level. “And where do you think you’re going, young man?”
Spider stopped and glanced back at Jake with a bewildered look on his face. “I’m getting back in so I can keep spearfishing?”
Jake crossed his arms over his chest. “Oh, are you now?”
“Yeah?”
“And what about dinner?”
“I’ll eat later.”
“And when were you planning to go to bed, huh?”
Spider shrugged. “I dunno. Whenever I guess.”
Without another word, he turned his back on Jake again and got ready to dive into the water. The sheer disrespect almost made Jake laugh. He ended up hissing through his teeth instead. “Get your ass back over here. Now.”
Before Spider had a chance to disobey him again, Jake crossed the distance he had put between them in a single step and seized him by the arm.
“Jake, what—“
“I don’t want to hear it.” Jake cut him off by roughly steering him in the direction of home with a firm hand on his shoulder. The action was familiar to him. He’d done it to Lo’ak a hundred times after his troublemaking escapades. In fact, he was already mentally planning the lecture and accompanying punishment for disobedience he’d give to Spider once they got home. It was going to be nearly identical to the one he’d given Lo’ak after he’d scared everyone by getting lost outside the reef. Maybe Spider’s attitude would improve after a day of being stuck inside the marui doing chores. “You’re gonna march your butt back to the marui and—“
His eyes widened in surprise when Spider jerked his shoulder out of his grip and twisted away from him.
“Get the hell off me!” Spider yelled. He backed away from Jake, one hand covering the shoulder he had grabbed.
For a moment, all Jake could do was stare at him in shock, mouth slightly ajar. Then he closed it, tightening it into a sharp, angry line. Never in all his years as a parent had one of his children dared to use such language at him, especially not when they were already in trouble. “What did you just say to me, boy?”
“I told you to get the hell off me.” Spider repeated boldly, heedless of the hole he was digging himself into.
“Alright, that’s it!” Jake stormed towards Spider with a snarl. “I was gonna go easy on you, but since you want to have an attitude, we can do this the hard way.”
Spider scurried back to stay out of reach, but his retreat wasn’t a sign of submissiveness. If anything, Spider puffed up just as angrily as Jake. He hopped up onto a nearby mangrove root so he could better look him in the eye. “Attitude? I’m just minding my own business and you’re all pissy at me for some reason!”
“Minding your own business?” Jake repeated with a scoff. Even when Lo’ak got in trouble he had the sense to own up to it instead of lying about it. He jabbed an accusatory finger towards Spider’s chest. “You know damn well what you’re doing. I don’t know why you think you get to stay out past curfew all of a sudden, but the rules haven’t changed just ‘cause we left the forest.”
Spider threw his hands up in frustration. “Bro, what are you talking about?”
“Playing dumb isn’t going to help you! You’re out past your curfew and there’s going to be consequences.”
“What fucking curfew?” Spider yelled so loudly that it made Jake recoil. His voice cracked hard mid-sentence, and Jake suddenly realized that the tone he’d mistaken for disrespectful was actually scared and confused.
Jake's first instinct was to yell right back, but he forced himself to take a deep breath. He put his hands up in a calming gesture, and when he finally spoke, he managed to keep his voice civil. “Spider, this morning I told you and Lo’ak and Kiri to come back before sundown, remember?”
Spider’s brows knit together in confusion. He was still on edge, but he relaxed slightly at seeing Jake calm down. “You told Lo’ak and Kiri to come back. You didn’t say it to me.”
“Spider,” Jake had to take another calming breath to keep from losing his cool again. He couldn’t tell if this was genuine confusion or some bizarre attempt to get out of trouble, but either way he figured more yelling wouldn’t solve the situation. “You were standing right between Lo’ak and Kiri when I said it. Why would you think I wasn’t saying it to you too?”
“Why would I think you were? I’m not one of your kids.”
“I— well— no, you’re not, but you still have to follow the rules. Back when you lived in Hell’s Gate with the McCoskers, could you just wander off whenever you felt like it?”
Spider squinted at him in confusion. “Uh… yeah, I could? I did that all the time.”
Now it was Jake’s turn to squint. “You didn’t have a curfew with the McCoskers?”
“I mean, maybe when I was like, really little, but not that I can remember, no. And besides, I haven’t lived with the McCoskers since the RDA came back, remember? It’s been almost two years since then.”
For a moment, Jake was almost stunned into silence, but he recovered from his surprise and changed tactics. “Okay, forget the McCoskers. Think about when we lived in High Camp. You had a curfew then.”
“No, your kids had a curfew, but I didn’t. Don’t you remember how Lo’ak was always jealous?”
“I—” Jake frowned. Now that Spider mentioned it, he vaguely remembered Lo’ak begging Jake to extend his curfew because of something to do with Spider. “But Norm and Max and everyone, they made sure you got home and ate dinner before dark, right?”
“Norm and Max were always super busy. It’s really hard to keep human life support running out there. They didn’t have time to babysit me; they had to keep the lights on.” Spider shrugged like it was no big deal. He must’ve noticed the shocked look on Jake’s face because he quickly added. “Jake, relax. I’m a tough kid, remember? I know how to get my own dinner and I know when to go to sleep. I was fine.”
“Oh, Eywa…” The realization finally hit Jake. Spider’s confusion was one hundred percent genuine; he really didn’t understand why Jake was angry at him for staying out at night. Jake pressed his hands to his lips and took another deep breath. He sat down on the mangrove root and patted the spot next to him. Spider still looked a little nervous, but he sat down next to Jake anyway. His legs were far too short to reach the sandy ground below, so they swung in the air halfway down Jake’s calves, making him look much younger than he was.
“Spider,” Jake began. He put a hand on Spider’s shoulder and turned him so they were face to face, “you’re not one of my kids, but while we stay in Awa’atlu, you’re living in our marui. That means I’m responsible for you just like I’m responsible for Lo’ak, Kiri, and Tuk. So you have to follow the rules— that includes the curfew.”
Spider made a face. “I really have to have a curfew now? But why?”
“The same reason Kiri and Lo’ak and Aonung and Rotxo and every other kid has a curfew. It’s to keep you safe. If you don’t come back at sundown, I won’t know where you are or if something bad happened to you.” Jake ruffled Spider’s hair the same way he did to Lo’ak all the time.
“Nothing bad’s gonna happen to me,” Spider shoved his hand off with a scoff. “I can take care of myself. I never had a curfew before. Why do I gotta have one now?”
Jake's patience started to wear thin again. His irritation started to leak into his voice. “Because I said so, that’s why.”
“That’s bullshit!”
“You do not speak that way to me, young man.” Jake scolded.
Spider shrunk under the reprimand, but still held his ground. “Well, it is…”
Jake threw his hands up in exasperation. “What is so important that you need to stay out at night anyway, huh?”
“Uh, food? You know, that thing I need to survive?” Spider drawled with so much venomous sarcasm that for a split second Jake felt like he was talking to his father instead. “Do you think I’m out here freezing my butt off for fun? I’m trying to catch some dinner. I know it’s been awhile since you were human, but remember that humans need to eat too.”
“Alright, first of all, lose the attitude, kid.” Jake snapped. “Second of all, what are you talking about? Food? We have food at home. Neytiri made dinner for everyone.”
An ugly sound that was half-scoff, half-laugh escaped Spider’s throat. “No. Ms. Sully made food for your family. Not for me.”
“Spider, is that what this is about?” Jake’s voice softened slightly with pity. “Neytiri? Listen, I know things are… complicated right now, but Neytiri doesn’t mind if you eat what she cooked.”
“Oh, I bet she’d love it if I ate some of her cooking,” Spider said bitterly. Seeing the confused look on Jake’s face, he added, “she never cooks things humans can eat. This morning Kiri warned me she was making pincer fish stew. Do you know how toxic pincer fish are to humans? If I ate it I’d probably puke my own brains out.”
Jake cringed. “Oh… I’m sorry, kiddo, I didn’t realize she was making something that would hurt you. Why didn’t you say something?”
“Why would I? It’s not the first time she’s cooked poisonous food when she knows I’m staying for dinner.”
“Don’t talk like that. Neytiri wouldn’t do that on purpose. She’s just been so distracted since… since everything. I promise it was just a mistake.”
“Yeah, a mistake.” Spider scoffed. “Maybe it was this time, but didn’t you ever notice that every time she heard me, Kiri, and Lo’ak were planning a sleepover that she’d make something I couldn’t eat? It’s not like she’s in the habit of making human-friendly food.”
“What— no, but that’s not—“ Jake spluttered as he tried to think of a rebuttal, but no matter how hard he thought, he couldn’t. Since they’d gotten Spider back, all their meals were sympathy gifts from the Metkayina or were prepared by Jake. Neytiri had been too bereaved to cook, so Jake had picked up the slack. Tonight was the first night she’d cooked since the battle. Even thinking back further, back to when they lived in the forest, Jake couldn’t recall a time Spider had stayed over for dinner when Neytiri cooked. It was always when Jake cooked or when they ate a feast prepared by the clan.
Now that he was really thinking about it, he vaguely remembered an ugly argument between Kiri and Neytiri that had happened a long time ago: Kiri accused Neytiri of cooking food that was poisonous for humans on purpose so Spider couldn’t spend the night with them, and Neytiri argued back that it was too hard for her to modify every recipe she knew to make it human-friendly.
“Okay, maybe she did do that, but that was before. She always knew you could get food from somewhere else. Things are different now. Today really was just a mistake.” Jake tried to get Spider to look at him, but Spider stubbornly kept his head down and let his thick locs hide his face.
“Yeah, whatever. Can I go now? If I don’t catch a fish soon I’m gonna go hungry tonight.” Spider started to slide off the root they sat on.
Before he could slink out of reach, Jake grabbed him by the shoulders. He knelt on the hard sandy ground in front of him so they were face to face. “Haven’t you been listening to a word I’ve been saying? You’re coming home with me. Now. I’ll let breaking curfew slide just this once since you didn’t understand the rules, but this is the last time you’re going out by yourself at night. If I ever catch you breaking curfew again, you’re gonna be grounded, you read me?”
“What? But how am I supposed to feed myself?” Spider cried. There was so much genuine panic in his voice that it made Jake cringe with guilt. Did Spider seriously think he would let him starve? “During the day I have to help everyone out with the chores. I won’t have enough time to find food if—“
“Spider!” Jake cut him off with a gentle squeeze to his shoulders. Once he was sure he had Spider’s full attention, he continued in a slow, clear voice. “Look, here’s the deal, kid: as long as you live under my roof and follow my rules, I will make sure you have plenty of food. You don’t have to hunt for yourself after dark. From now on, you will come back home and eat dinner with us every night before sundown. How’s that sound?”
Spider stayed quiet for a long moment, a furrow in his brow. Jake gave him a reassuring, fatherly smile, the same smile that always seemed to help his children when they were scared. He hoped that Spider was finally getting it. After a long moment of hard thought, Spider shook his head and said, “no thank you.”
Jake stared at him incredulously. “What do you mean, no thank you?”
“I mean, I’m good.” Spider grabbed Jake’s oversized hands and carefully peeled them off his shoulders. “That whole deal thing you’re offering me? No thanks. I’d rather keep my freedom.”
He tried to slink away again, but Jake stopped him with a hand on his wrist. “Spider, the deal isn’t optional.”
“So you’re forcing me to follow this stupid curfew?” Spider tried to twist out of his grip, but Jake wasn’t budging. “What? Like a prisoner or something?”
“A prisoner? Jesus, Spider, I’m not imprisoning you, I’m taking care of you! Why can’t you just—” Jake cut himself off. He was going to ask Spider why he couldn’t just trust him, but considering everything they’d just talked about, it felt stupid to ask him to do that. With a deep sigh, he gently took both of Spider’s hands and lightly squeezed them.
“Okay, look at it this way. Lo’ak and Kiri have a curfew too. Why do you think they have a curfew?”
Spider stopped trying to squirm away from him, but he wouldn’t look him in the eyes either. He kept his gaze on the ground, where he nudged a small rock with his toe. His begrudging answer came after a moment, “so you know that they’re safe.”
“Yep, that’s right. We give our kids curfews because we love them.” Jake nodded. “A curfew isn’t a punishment. It’s just a rule to keep you kids safe.”
Spider kicked the rock, sending it flying into the diving hole with a small splash. He still wouldn’t look at Jake. “I’m not a kid. I’m older than Kiri and Lo’ak. I don’t need this stupid rule to stay safe.”
“Yes, you do. You’re sixteen. Sixteen-year-olds have curfews.”
Suddenly, Spider looked up at him, his dark eyes shining with an emotion Jake couldn’t identify. “So why didn’t I have a curfew when I was fifteen? Or fourteen? Or— hell, I don’t think I’ve had one since I was like ten. You say that kids need curfews, but I never had one. And it was fine. If it wasn’t fine, you and Norm and everybody wouldn’t have let it happen. So it was fine, right?”
Jake’s ears twitched downwards and it became a struggle to hold Spider’s gaze. The strange look in his eyes was almost pleading, silently begging Jake to confirm what he’d said; that it was perfectly fine that all the adults had let a teenager run around with no guardian looking after him. Jake licked his lips. It would be easy to agree with him; just tell him that the way he’d been treated was fine and come up with some bullshit excuse for why things had to change now. Spider had always gotten enough food and rest; it wasn’t like he was wasting away while the adults ignored him. Sure, he didn’t have anyone looking out for him the way Jake and Neytiri looked out for their children, but there was a war going on. They had bigger things to worry about. Spider wasn’t their problem.
It was fine, right?
“No.” When Jake finally answered, he couldn’t look Spider in the eyes. He kept his gaze trained on the stony ground beneath his knees. “No, Spider, it wasn’t fine. A kid’s not supposed to live like that. A kid’s supposed to have somebody making sure they come home and eat dinner and go to bed every night. You shouldn’t have had to look out for yourself like that.”
In the edges of his vision, he saw Spider’s dreadlocks sway as he shook his head. “No, it was fine. I was fine. I mean, I always knew I wasn’t treated the same as the other kids, but it wasn’t like it was bad or anything. Kiri and Lo’ak and Tuk are your responsibility, ‘cause you’re their parents. I don’t have parents, so I’m nobody’s responsibility. It wouldn’t be fair to make somebody else look after me when it wasn’t their fault I was stuck there.”
Hearing Spider frantically try to rationalize his treatment only made Jake feel worse. He shrunk into himself as Spider continued.
“That’s just how the world works. You know, like, if something ever happened to you and Neytiri, Lo’ak and Kiri would have to look out for themselves too, ‘cause it wouldn’t be fair to make somebody else have to look after them.”
“No! Eywa, no, Spider! That’s not how this works!” Jake cried. Just the thought of his children living like Spider —having no one waiting on them to come home at night, staying out late to get food for themselves because they couldn’t count on anyone else to feed them— was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach. “It doesn’t matter if a kid doesn’t have parents. They still need somebody taking care of them. That’s why you had your foster parents.”
“Yeah, I guess I needed them when I was little, but I pretty much just slept in the same house as them by the time I was, like, ten or so. And they’re long gone by now. I was fine without anybody looking out for me for the past year and a half. You don’t need to start now.”
“Spider, I was…” Jake hesitated, struggling to find the right words. He forced himself to look Spider in the eyes. “I was wrong, okay. I was Olo’eyktan. When your foster family abandoned you, I should’ve done something— should’ve appointed somebody or— or I don’t know. I just shouldn’t have done nothing.”
“Jake, I was fine.” Spider protested weakly.
“No, you weren’t. Not if you think it’s normal to get food all by yourself at night.”
“It’s not?”
“No! Jesus, if something ever happened to me and Neytiri,” Jake’s voice cracked with emotion at the thought, “I would never want my kids to live like this— so it’s not right to let you live like this either.”
“Jake,” Spider seemed taken aback by the emotion in his voice. “It’s okay.”
“No, kiddo, it’s not. But I’m gonna make it okay now.” He got to his feet and held a hand out to Spider. “Come on, let’s go home.”
Instead of taking his hand, Spider backed away. His eyes darted between Jake’s hand and the spearfish he’d left lying near the edge of the diving hole. The wind picked up ever so slightly, and Jake caught a whiff of the human stench of fear coming off of Spider. He frowned. Did the thought of letting himself be dependent on Jake scare him that badly?
“Look, Jake, don’t take this the wrong way, but I think it’s better if things stay the same as they’ve always been.”
Jake’s frown deepened. “What? Do you want to be out here in the dark catching food by yourself?”
Spider grimaced. “Not really, but I just think it’s for the best. It’s really nice of you to offer to take care of me, but I know how the world works. You can make promises now, when things are peaceful, but they won’t stay peaceful forever. Once things get tough again, you’re going to put your family first. I’d rather keep taking care of myself so that when things do get tough again, I’ll already be used to it.”
Jake didn’t know what to say to that. The diving hole went silent save for the waves lapping at the rock below and the occasional hiss of his exopack. Alpha Centauri had long since sunk below the horizon, leaving them illuminated by the soft blue light of Polyphemus and his moons. Spider took his silence as an answer. He knelt and scooped up his child-size speargun before turning back towards the water.
“I’m sorry I scared you today, but just forget about the curfew thing, okay? I can take care of myself.”
The breeze picked up, sending another wave of human-fear towards Jake’s nose. Spider was doing a good job of hiding it, but he really was scared. It reminded him uncomfortably of people he’d known back on Earth— people who had been let down so many times that the thought of trusting someone else to care for them was terrifying. If you give someone the power to feed you, you give them the power to starve you, someone had told him when he decided to join the Marines. The Marine Corp kept him fed as long as he was an able-bodied soldier, but the minute that changed, they’d let him starve. Clearly, Spider thought he would end up starving too if he let Jake have the power to feed him. Jake had to prove to him that he meant what he said. Empty promises wouldn’t be enough.
“Spider, wait,” he called just before Spider could jump into the water. Spider looked back at him warily.
Slowly, telegraphing his movements so Spider could clearly see what he was doing, he unsheathed his knife and held it up to his dreads. Spider’s eyes widened as he carefully severed a lock of his hair.
“Jake, what are you doing? You don’t have to—”
“No. I wasn’t just making an empty promise. I’m going to take care of you from now on.” He approached Spider and knelt so they were on the same level again, and offered the lock of hair towards him. “I want to take you on as my mll’an’eveng.”
“Mll’an’eveng,” Spider echoed, staring at the hair in disbelief. It was rare a Na’vi custom done whenever a child ended up orphaned and was too old for parental tsaheylu with adoptive parents. To the Na’vi, if a child and adult never made the parental bond in infancy, then they could never truly be child and parent, but they had an exception for children who were orphaned later in life, after they’d already established a parental bond with their birth parents. Taking in a child as mll’an’eveng wasn’t the same as adoption, but it was more like a wardship or foster home, acknowledging that the child had already bonded with other parents and their new ones could never replace that bond. An adult would be bound to take care of a mll’an’eveng with steep consequences if they failed, just like there would be consequences for neglecting their own child.
“But I’m human—” Spider protested.
“I don’t care. We don’t need tsaheylu to make you my mll’an’eveng.”
“Neytiri won’t—”
“Let me worry about her.”
“Jake, I don’t know…” Spider put a hand to his own hair and wove his fingers through it anxiously.
“It’s your choice whether you want to do this or not,” Jake said, “but no matter what your answer is, I’m still going to watch out for you. I just want to prove to you that I mean it.”
Spider’s fingers knotted so tightly in his locks that it looked painful. The stench of fear was so strong that Jake didn’t need the breeze to smell it coming off of him. Jake was just about to take his lock of hair back when Spider suddenly moved. He slipped his own small knife from its sheath and sliced off a dreadlock. With slightly trembling fingers, he handed it to Jake.
The two locks of hair rested in his giant blue palm, one smooth, neat, and uniform black, the other uneven, unkempt and mottled in shades of bronze. With all the solemnity of any other Na’vi ritual, Jake took the two locks of hair and wound them around each other, joining them into one strand. Jake then used some stray string stowed away in his loincloth pouch to tie the strand around his wrist. As per the custom of the mll’an’eveng ritual, Jake would wear the hair on his wrist for the next four days as a visible declaration of wardship over Spider for all to see.
Spider let out a heavy breath as Jake finished tying the hair to his wrist, like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His bottom lip trembled and he squeezed his eyes tightly shut to fight back tears.
“Hey, it’s okay, bud. C’mere.” Jake pulled Spider into a hug, letting him bury the smooth surface of his mask into the crook of Jake’s neck.
“I’m not crying.” Spider mumbled into his shoulder.
Jake tried not to laugh as he patted him on the back. “Of course not.” He gave Spider a minute to pull himself together before giving him one last squeeze and standing up.
“Alright. Are you ready to go home now?” He offered his hand.
Small, pale fingers slipped between large, blue ones. “Yeah, I am.”
Na'vi Vocab:
Mll’an: to accept
‘Eveng: a child
I combined these two words together to create “Mll’an’eveng” or “accepted child,” a Na’vi term for a child an adult is accepting as their responsibility, but not formally adopting, similar to a ward or a foster kid. This is not canon lore, just something I made up for this one-shot.

you mean like how katsuki is the type to just pick you up from wherever you are, sitting where you were then placing you in his lap expecting you to continue on like nothing was happening ?? Kiris likes this too, but not as aggressive as katsuki. He tries to refrain from doing it too much until you tell him that you actually like to be manhandled sometimes. Now he's doing it as often as katsuki, but still not quite as aggressive as him.
shoto would definitely be the type to stare at you. you could be doing anything it doesn't matter this man eyes will be locked on you. you always catch him too but he still wouldnt look away. you don't see any harm in it so you just let him continue. sometimes you would walk past him and give you a kiss. sero would also be caught looking at you, but isn't shameless enough to keep staring after getting caught, but just because you caught him doesn't mean that he won't be right back to looking after you turn back to what you were doing.
nobody finna tell me my sweet baby tamaki wouldn't get all flustered when you're attention is on him. he was talking to mirio about how a different breed of squid had compared to the usual he eats, when he sees you looking at him with interest in your eyes, now he fumbling over his words trying to remember what he was talking about before he caught your gaze upon him..
iida is definitely the type to lecture you about eating Honey Buns all the time until he decides to eat one and see why you're so obsessed with them, now everytime you get a box for him you have to get a box for him too. please don't let this man see you warming it up, it was good at room temp but slightly warmer??????? He thinks he found heaven.
Shinsou's favorite thing to do is take a nap with you, or with you around. so he definitely tries to make his dorm sleep approved. black out curtains to stop the light from filtering in, but don't worry cause he got a lap on his desk and a taller one in the corner. a fan to keep the roomer cooler. don't get me started on his blanket collection. He has weighted blanket soft blankets. 2 blankets from where he was in his lil crocheting era. Overall he tries to make his room the ultimate sleeping spot, and he feels like he is succeeding as he snuggles more into your stomach.
denki is sending you a 100 millions tiktoks. These include dances that he wants you to learn so that y'all could have them together, different challenges, posts that remind him of you, part 267 of a series you and him are watching, and many many more things.
Mina is definitely the type to get you up and out to try new things, she doesn't want to sit in the dorm all day when she could be out shopping with you hello??

i hope you enjoyed reading * thank you so much for the request, request are open

something beautiful
Tumblr media
I managed to escape from my hundreds of assignments for a few moments to finish this one for you all, sorry its short :((
♢ Pairing: Kiri x Oldest sister!Reader
♢ Word count: 1.8k
♢ Genre: angst, sibling love, fluff - Warnings: cursing, talks of depression and insecurity
⌲ Description: Your younger sister is worrying you more for each passing day after the family’s move with the Metkayina.
M A S T E R L I S T
Tumblr media
“The fish seem happy.”
With a startled flinch, Kiri found herself snapping out of whatever daze she had been in, sitting on the sandy beach with the water rushing up to meet her lower body and away again as the cycle repeated itself with the current.
She had been so preoccupied with her mind that your presence hadn’t registered until the very last moment.
Something that should be scolded in the current dangerous times, but not for Kiri. Never for Kiri, to be honest.
“There is no fish,” she gave a strange look as you chuckled before settling yourself down beside her with an exaggerated huff.
“Not here, but I assume they are; with them being fish in the ocean and all.”
“You really need to improve your jokes.”
You had heard that one several times already, and simply offered a light shrug in return. Mimicking her gaze, you followed it out to the crystal blue surface of the eastern ocean trying to remain in the obvious silence your younger sister had been busy with.
But patience had never been a virtue of yours.
“So, why are you sitting here all alone?”
Kiri shrugged. “Just felt like it. People got annoying.”
Well then. “Fair enough.”
The sigh mixed with a slightly exaggerated breath coming from you was enough to make Kiri roll her eyes knowingly as you stretched out on the sand beside her, eyes now stuck on the clear blue sky above your heads with the brightness of the sun warming your skin as you squinted up for a moment, one leg bent up to further support your comfortable position before closing your eyes.
And so you waited.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Fiv-
“Out with it.”
You win.
“Hm?”
There was no need on your part to open your eyes to know about her annoyance. It was already clear to you from the shift of her body alone.
“You’re being suspiciously silent. And you’re never silent unless you want something.”
Her words made you grin, but you still refused to look at her.
You could actually get used to this position on the warm sand. A nap would have been delightful in this weather.
“Y/N!”
Oops.
“Sorry, was in my own head there for a moment.”
She groaned a sound you had gotten far too used to since leaving the forest, and especially coming from her.
“Yes I know, so what do you want?”
You clicked your tongue in a slight reprimand, finally turning your head to look at her as Kiri glanced down at you with the familiar I-Don’t-Wanna-Talk-To-You downturned pout of her lips.
“No need to be so grumpy.”
“I said I wanted to be alone.”
“I’m not saying anything, you’re the one making a deal out of this.”
That was certainly not the thing to say, you realized.
“Ugh!” Kiri was about to stand up and stomp away, so you lost the playful facade as you pushed yourself back up into a sitting position.
“Stop, sit down.”
Pausing in a half crouch, you could see the indecisiveness in your little sister’s eyes as they flickered to you and the village in the distance, but as she met your raised eyebrows defeat was quick to follow as she plumped back down with a huff, stubbornly crossing her arms and looking away.
“Good choice,” you straightened up. “So what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong.”
“Bullshit,” your reply was quick but simple.
“What do you want me to say then?”
“The truth would be nice.”
“Why do you always have to meddle?”
“Hm, I meddle when the situation calls for it, Kiri. You of all people should know that.”
You could see her contemplating, warring for her next actions silently of whether to continue her stubborn teenage act or actually come clean to the one person who could see straight through most of her acts.
“And what situation are you seeing right now?”
Bingo.
Your little sister might have thought herself to be quite clever - not that she wasn’t. Kiri was sometimes far too smart for her own good. She was not someone who was easily roped into Lo’ak’s stupid schemes, neither was she prone to self-destruction like Neteyam sometimes did with the burden of heir on his shoulders. She was the silent, but listening type who had a sharp tongue when it was needed.
There was a reason why your grandmother had found her to be a fitting healer instead of you. You hadn’t been the only one to notice her fascinating connection to everything living around her. The earth, the trees, and the creatures both in the skies and waters.
Eywa had clearly chosen her.
And not a single part of you doubted that it would be for something great.
You just wished Kiri could see that too.
“You are unhappy.”
Her reply was dry, biting almost.“What made you think that?”
You scruffed her head at the cheek on her as she let out a sound in protest of the action. “Don’t be smart with me.”
Another roll of her eyes.
She was really layering on this.
“Just like you, I’m not stupid. Is it because you don’t like the Metkayina?”
”Of course not, they’re nice…most of them.”
There was silent agreement on your part. “Do you miss the forest?”
“We’re Omitikaya, I will always miss the forest.”
“Okay,” you nodded. “Then what is it?”
“Nothing you can fix.”
“I’m not trying to fix you, little sister,” after what seemed like a lifetime, Kiri finally glanced at you for more than five seconds. “I am trying to help.”
“You can’t help something that is not fixable.”
“Kiri,” you shifted up on your knees, facing her with a serious look as you grabbed her slightly smaller hands in yours, stroking your thumbs over her knuckles for a short moment in comfort. “You worry me. Us, our brothers too.”
“You are hardly eating with us these days. Always skulking away for yourself to the point that even Tsireya has noticed something strange. Mom and dad won’t say anything because they don’t want to push you, but at this point you are forcing me to.”
Her head was hanging down, her soft, choppy hair so different in texture from your own covering her eyes as you leaned forward to tuck some of it into the back of her ear.
“Do you think I’m pretty?”
A scared little whisper that shattered your heart into a thousand pieces.
There were many words you wanted to say, to scream even. More than one emotion was circling in your mind; anger, against whoever had managed to make your younger sister so insecure in herself. Sadness, for her to even believe whoever’s words they were. And frustration, at yourself for not making her see the truth earlier.
You didn’t ask for permission as you pulled her into a hug, settling down behind her like your mother usually did for all the children, as Kiri’s form curled into a small ball between your legs, head finding support against your collarbone.
“You are something beautiful, Kiri, special and unique in this large world - do not ever let anyone tell you differently, do hear me?”
“But I’m not like you,” your shoulders dropped at those words, hurting you even further to know that of all people to compare herself to in this world it was you. Her protector and older sister. “You couldn’t see it back home. How all of the young men were always vying for your attention because you were busy with dad and all your tasks. But they were always looking at you, hoping and dreaming for a single moment of focus.”
“Stop,” a breath hitched in her. “You cannot, and will not compare yourself to me, little sister. I am not the standard for what is beautiful in this world. I admire strong people, strong hearts like our mother and grandmother, but at the end of the day, I also make sure to appreciate myself.”
“How can I appreciate myself when I’m a freak?”
Eywa, like you hated that word. It wasn’t horrible in itself, a simple word in the English dictionary used to describe a lot of things. But ever since you had been able to talk and understand words, that word had always followed your siblings and that one extra finger.
“Well, then we’re both freaks,” as Kiri met your eyes you wiggled your five fingers at her as her lips tugged. “We’re two sides of the same coin, so your argument is not valid. Because if you say I’m the standard of beauty with my five fingers, then you are too.”
She sighed heavily. “Sissy-”
“Nope! No takebacks. You are beautiful, done. You said it yourself.”
“You’re not being funny,” in despite of her words, you felt the tension ease from her form.
“If you think I’m ever joking about this, you will have to think again.”
Tucking her closer against you, as if that was possible, you rested your cheek against the crown of her head as both of you looked back out into the ocean. Letting the warm breeze act like a comforting blanket in the darkness of the topic.
“I know it isn’t easy,” you whispered. “Having your own thoughts betraying you, making you believe in…whatever negative angle it comes up with. It’s not something to fix within a day, or this conversation itself. This darkness roots itself into our very bones, convincing us that there is no other truth. But I will never let you get roped into it.”
There was a waver in her voice as Kiri spoke. “How do you know it is fixable? Because I can’t see it…”
“Because I will be here. Every step of the way.”
You thought that would be the end of it, taking her nonverbal response as her own acceptance.
But you were wrong, more often than not lately when it came to your siblings.
“Please don’t make promises you can’t keep,” Kiri nearly croaked, the whisper of her sentence so low you nearly had to strain to hear clearly.
It still managed to settle that uncomfortable feeling of unease deep in your chest as you swallowed at her meaning.
“Don’t say that, little sister,” was all you could say, because she was right, in a sense.
This stalemate that your family was in with the Metkayina was a false security. Your father might have been able to trick himself that everything was okay now - safe.
You thought differently.
“I will do my best, can you at least accept that?”
The way she snuggled further into you was a yes in her language, and you settled for it as of the moment.
If the future was set on separating your family then you would meet its gaze when the day arrived.
However, right now, your sister needed you, and that was all that mattered.

Part 13 - Tea
“He didn’t sleep well at all last night, he kept fussing and crying and wouldn’t settle for anything,” D’avi explained concernedly as she gently eased her baby into Kiri’s arms.
“They are sensitive little things at this age,” Kiri said, smiling down at a whiny L’eo, shushing him softly with a comforting rock as his tiny face scrunched up in upset. “But I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about,” she soothed as she began to examine him. “Did he feed well this morning?” she asked, fingers pressing down gently on his pudgy tummy.
“My L’eo’s got his father’s appetite. He won’t miss a meal for anything. Do you think that could be it?”
“Hmm…” Kiri peaked at his gums, examined his tail and took her time to run through every other check up she was taught to in her lessons.
“D’av, I think it's just gas. Everything else seems fine and he’s in quite good spirits for someone who hasn’t slept much. There are a few stretches we can try to get his tummy to settle and then we’ll see if he’ll go down for a nap,” she advised, holding L’eo to her chest as she alternated between rubbing circles and patting him on the back.
Xilä sat nearby with L’eya in the cradle of her thighs. The baby was all uncoordinated kicking feet and happy coos as she held Xi’s thumb in a firm grip- tiny tail curled contentedly.
At three weeks old, the twins amazed Xi each time she interacted with them. It was shocking that they already had such noticeable little personalities.
Xi had stayed over at the Sully’s last night for one of her and Kiri’s weekly sleepover sessions. They hadn’t had one in well over a month and were long overdue for some quality time together.
Early that morning when they left the Sully residence, they decided to check in on the new mother and her adorable little ones before heading for their healer lessons.
With the twins finally down for their morning nap, the three women lounged comfortably as they chatted and snacked on ripened fruit.
The two younger women were currently in hysterics over D’avi’s theatrics, palms over their mouths as they tried to stifle their laughter so as to not wake the sleeping infants.
Xilä had simply asked her why Yalnïk seemed a bit grumpy when he left for the day, and her sister who seemed to have no filter, said, “Because I refused to give him sex this morning.”
That was then followed by a frustrated rant from the new mother.
D’vai sighed dramatically by the end of her speech. “I’m telling you, my husband's family bear extremely fertile men! When we finally decided it was time, we didn’t even have to try…he practically just touched me and poof, two babies just like that.”
“Ahh, so that’s the problem there then…you’re afraid he will get you pregnant again, hmm?” Kiri asked behind a snicker.
“Yes!” she hissed. “I’ve only just been cleared two days ago, and the man is insatiable!” she cried. “And it's not like I don't want to jump his bones too, because believe me I do- so badly it’s not even funny.”
“I don’t get it, what’s stopping you?” Kiri asked, trying to contain her laughter.
Xilä had been silent the entire time, cheeks a flamed from the present conversation.
“Ugh. Keep up will you,” she sassed, “I haven’t left this tent for weeks, remember? I’m only withholding it because I have no ingredients to brew the Qla’ira root tea. I refuse to get pregnant again so soon.”
“Ohhhh. Well why didn’t you just say so,” Kiri huffed, amused. “I’ll bring you back a pouch after my lessons today,” she promised. “But honestly, I feel like it’s your fate, ya know?” the eldest Sully daughter teased. “Your husband has six siblings. And each of them already have-”
“No. Just no,” D’avi said horrified as she tried to contain her laughter at the absurdity. “Listen. I am taking absolutely no chances. And I love my children, I do, but I’ll admit I’m going to miss being pregnant with them.”
Kiri and Xi laughed at her confession.
“I’m serious! I didn’t have to worry about getting pregnant while being pregnant. Now I’m back to drinking that bitter tea every morning if I want my fun,” she grumbled.
“Qla’ira root tea isn't that bad," Xi laughed, finally chipping in to the conversation. “If you add a leaf from the Saf’rál plant while it brews, it actually makes it semi sweet and it doesn’t disrupt the effects of the medicinal properties,” Xilä said distractedly as she collected their empty bowls with the intention of washing them up. “I find it quite nice actually.”
The tent grew eerily quiet.
“What?” Xi asked, freezing on the spot when she noticed the other two staring at her with slacked jaws and round eyes. Mentally running over her words, Xilä paled when she realized what she had said. “No. Wait. I- I just meant-”
“No. NO…you said what you said, Xilä. Spit it out. Since when did you start drinking Qla’ira root tea?” D’avi demanded, sitting up straight as her tail sprung high.
The tea in question was contraceptive or better yet, one of the more effective methods the Na’vi used. And since her husband seemed to like to fuck her as if it were his life’s mission to keep her constantly full of his seed…Xilä thought that said tea was necessary.
“D’av…” Xi whispered, unable to formulate a sentence, mind still in shock at what she had accidentally admitted.
“Oh shit. Oh Great Mother!” Kiri exclaimed with a disbelieving laugh. “You’re bonded to my brother…aren't you? And don’t even try to lie. You just admitted to drinking Qla’ira root tea, Xi. You know only mated women drink that in order to prevent pregnancy. There’s no other possible reason you’d need it. So save your breath because it's also literally written all over your face.”
“You guys…”
“Aha! Oh this is just hilarious,” Kiri cried, grinning so wide, she looked almost giddy.
“Xi…” D’avi however, seemed to be needing that verbal confirmation.
Xilä released a breath and rubbed the space between her eyes. “Um…yeah…Neteyam is my husband,” she mumbled out.
“Xilä!” her sister yelled, a tinge of hurt poking through.
“We were going to announce it when we got back, I promise! But then you were in labor and so many other things came up! You know with all the new security measures and my classes, then in between we were still making preparations for our tent and…I- I’m so sorry…”
A wail broke through the silence that followed, accompanied by a fussy whine. They had been too loud it seemed.
“You stay right there Xilä- or should I say Xilä Sully. Don’t you dare move,” D’avi threatened as she got to her feet to tend to her fussing babies behind the privacy curtain.
Xilä groaned, bowing her head in defeat.
“So…How long were you two actually planning on hiding this then?” Kiri asked curiously, when it was just the two of them left.
“I don’t know…We talked about it a couple times but it was never the right time. He never said it out loud, but I think Neteyam’s been trying to prolong it until my father left for good.”
“Ah.” Her friend nodded in understanding. “It’s less than two weeks away now, hm?”
“Are you upset?” Xi asked softly.
“Not even a little,” Kiri chuckled. “I’m surprised, but I’m nothing but happy for you two…If anything it makes a lot more sense now.”
“How so?”
“Grandmother advanced your lessons further than mine. She’s teaching you things healers don’t normally learn… Tsahìk things…Which means, she knows, right?” she explained with a smile. “Then there’s also the whole drama from last night,” she said with a nonchalant shrug.
“What drama?!”
“Are you kidding me? Xilä, Neteyam behaved as if he was sending you off to war last night, when all you were doing was sleeping over- in my room and not his. You’d swear he was never going to see you again the way he was hanging all over you.”
“Right…” Xi muttered, cheeks tinting uncontrollably. She hadn't seen anything wrong with his behavior last night. But thinking about it from an outsider’s perspective, she could see what Kiri was talking about.
Neteyam had always been affectionate with her in private. And to a degree, even before they started fooling around too. Now that they were a mated pair however, her husband was every bit attentive. He gravitated to her whenever she was near- always having to hold her or touch her, even if it was in some small way or the other.
Whether it was to link their fingers together, or drag her into his lap, to hug her from behind as they stood- his chin on top of her head or to simply curl his tail around hers whenever they sat side by side.
And if she was being very honest, she loved it. She was a glutton for his touch.
Kiri rolled her eyes fondly at her friend. Her next comment was interrupted however, by Sal entering the tent unannounced. The flap had been left open to allow fresh air in.
“You are too kind my dear. It is a beautiful thought. My D’avi will love it. Come in, come in. Oh- good morning girls,” the elder said with a surprised smile when she noticed them.
She was eagerly ushering in someone and Xilä gasped almost inaudibly when she noticed Neytiri following right behind with what looked like a gift- a lavender dyed cloth, tied off with a beaded chord.
She remembered seeing her wrap said gift just last night after she’d eaten dinner with the Sullys. It was a birthing gift for D’avi.
“Xi darling, did you have a good time last night? I thought you’d be off to your class by now,” Sal said, making her way over to collect their used dishes. She was such a mother.
Xi had momentarily forgotten that the elder came by every morning to help her daughter with the twins.
“I wondered where the two of you were off too so early,” Neytiri teased. “Where is D’a-”
“Right. So how long have you been hiding the fact that you and Neteyam are mates now? I want to know every- Oh Great Mother…” D’avi’s eyes widened, palm slapping over her mouth in panic when she noticed the two newcomers.
She’d been busy securing the privacy curtain with her back towards them, completely unaware as she’d spoken those words.
“WHAT?!” both mothers yelled simultaneously.
“Oh fuck,” Xilä whispered, covering her face with the palms of her hands.
Neytiri’s brows narrowed. “You are mated to my son?!” she screeched.
“Xilä, tell me this isn’t true,” Sal said almost as loudly.
At their outbursts, the tent was suddenly filled with the sounds of two crying babies.
“Neytiri…Sal,” Xi whispered, standing to face them with a broken expression, trying to formulate an explanation. She would admit, their overly upset reactions had her feeling panicked.
“Oh darling,” Sal cooed, noting her daughter’s distraught expression, closing the distance to hug her.
“I’m s-sorry,” Xilä said, frantically. The looks alone on the mothers' faces had told her the situation was bigger than it actually was.
Taking a deep breath, the Olo’eykte realized her reaction was over the top as well. “No, Xi. It is I who must apologize. Be calm, daughter. We are not upset with you,” Neytiri said kindly. “Please sit. We wish to know how this has happened.”
~
The jig was up.
The moment Neteyam walked into D’avi and Yalnïk’s tent that morning to check in on Xi, he stopped dead in his tracks.
‘Shit. Here we go,’ he thought with an accepting sigh of defeat, feeling the sting of the stares from the women seated around the table before him.
They knew….
He should have just left for his hunt first thing, but no, he wanted to see his mate first.
“Um. Hi,” he said awkwardly, trying to meet his wife's gaze, but unable to since her braided hair shielded her face.
Shit. She only ever did that when she was upset.
“Sit down,” his mother ordered through clenched teeth. It was clear as day, his mother was pissed.
As he sat beside his sister, he glanced at the other women’s expressions.
Kiri looked amused and highly entertained. Sal eyed him with an unnerving frown, not only completely silent, but entirely still. The elder was usually a ball of constant energy, so it was quite an alarming sight. And then there was D’avi, who was currently breastfeeding her baby girl. His sister-in-law was the most bizarre- she looked… apologetic?
“It has come to our attention that you and Xilä are mated,” Neytiri said matter-of-factly.
Neteyam blinked, eyes shifting to try and find Xi’s again. “Yes. We are mated before Eywa,” he replied without guilt or shame.
Something in his mother’s expression clicked. It softened into what looked like recognition.
In actuality those were very familiar words to Neytiri. She’d said the exact same thing to her own mother many years ago.
“My ‘Teyam, why didn’t you say before? You have taken away our opportunity to celebrate the two of you. You know our ways! We did not get to complete any of the ceremonial blessings of your union. We,” she gestured to herself and the elder beside her, “never even got to hold the official meeting of the two families,” she said in a hurt tone.
Pointed ears falling back, Neteyam nodded solemnly. “I’m sorry,” he said sincerely, directing the apology to both women. “I’m sorry I took that away from you…I did what was best for my mate and I…and I’m sorry, but I don’t regret my actions.”
“Of course you don’t…you have bonded for life with the woman that you love,” Neytiri said softly. “..........Does your father know?” she inquired.
At his nod, she pursed her lips. “I take it that is why the council hasn’t approached me? They know too?” she asked, frown deepening the more she spoke. It also explained why her friend Fe’ska had seemed somewhat cold of late. “Hmph,” she hummed in hurt.
“Mother, I know you feel wronged, but please do not be upset with Xilä, okay? She did nothing-”
“Bah! I am not upset with her! I told her as much….I will forgive you eventually, seeing that it is you who should’ve known better…I fear I will not be able to save you from your in-law's wrath however. You were selfish with your thinking,” she said disappointedly.
Neteyam could tell she felt betrayed from all sides. The fact that not only he, but his father and the Council hadn’t said anything to her- he knew she was hurting.
“Sal…” he started, but the elder simply brushed him off with the flick of her hand.
“Hush now. I know why you did it that way. And as much as I want to throttle you for taking away my chance at being by my daughter’s side in the blessing rituals…well I get it,” she said, worried eyes on her youngest daughter’s still quiet demeanor. “You can apologize to me properly in the full presence of our families tonight,” she chided with a sincere smile.
“Tonight?” he frowned, wide golden eyes darting between the elder and his mother.
“Yes,” Neytiri said. “I have welcomed Salveen and her family to our home for dinner tonight. We will be celebrating your union. It will be our own version of the meeting of the two families- where we will still give you our blessing," she said firmly.
Neteyam was about the protest but his sister cut him off. “Shut up skxawng,” she hissed under her breath, jabbing him with her elbow. “It’s the least you can do. Look at them, they need this.”
“Alright,” he agreed reluctantly.
~
“Xi….Xilä! Xi wait!” Neteyam called, rushing through the encampment to catch up with her. “Xi-”
“Why didn’t you tell me!” she snapped, rounding on him with a fiery glare that was more cute than intimidating.
“Baby-”
“No, don’t baby me right now! I didn’t even know there was supposed to be blessing ceremonies, much less a meeting of the two families and Eywa knows what else!”
“Xi-”
“You should have told me, Neteyam!”
Neteyam's jaw clenched at the sight of a few nearby onlookers, some leaning in to whisper among themselves as they openly stared.
Linking his fingers with hers, he steered them further through Camp and straight into a familiar storage tent.
It was the same one they’d used many times before to fool around in- the one that housed the wood and kindling for the cook’s fires.
Stepping away to give her space, he faced her apologetically. “Xilä, I’m sorry, okay? I really am-”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” she asked again, not angrily, but more not understanding.
He released a breath and reached out for her. “I thought I was doing the right thing,” he murmured as he hugged her close, relieved that she came willingly. “You get so overwhelmed sometimes when there’s too much attention on you. I was trying to protect you. I know you sweetheart, you would have forced yourself through all those rituals just to please everyone else.”
“Maybe,” she agreed, “but I still would have preferred if you told me,” she grumbled into his chest unhappily. “You should have seen their faces when they found out, Teyam, they looked so devastated. We took away something they were eagerly looking forward to. It was important to them.”
“Mm. Well, they’ll get over it,” he said, irked. She was already falling for the bullshit.
“Neteyam!” she chastised in surprise by his retort, trying to squirm out from his hold- but he wasn’t having it.
Lifting her by the armpits, he sat her on top a stack of thick wood slabs, caging her in with arms on either side of her thighs, face leaning down to become level with hers.
“See, this is exactly what I am talking about. You’ve fallen for that whole act our mothers just put on,” he said sternly. “Well guess what? It would have been ten times worse if we had put up any little fight and said we wanted to do things our way. And you know what? You would’ve given in. Do you know what those rituals involve? Do you know the extent of all the ceremonies? It’s not just a simple clan gathering where you stand in the middle for two seconds and that’s it. It’s all eyes on you, baby. And that includes all the assholes who’d glare with judgement the entire time by the way. I love our family, honestly I do. But I know you, wife. You would have forced yourself to do whatever our mothers wanted, just to make them happy and you would have been miserable the entire time.”
As silence fell over them, his eyes bore into hers, breath slightly labored after his long winded speech.
“Tell me I’m wrong, Xi.”
She stared at him unblinkingly, absorbing his words. “You’re not wrong, no…” she admitted, “but you’re not right either!” she snapped, folding her arms. “You said we don’t hide things from each other anymore. This was something we should have decided together, as a team. You should have told me no matter what. I love that you’re trying to protect me, but…please don’t take my choices away from me, Neteyam.”
Head bowed, Neteyam released a remorseful breath. “Fuck.”
Xilä turned to see his expression. He looked wrecked- she could tell he was beating himself up about it. Her husband could be his worst enemy sometimes.
She cupped his face to pull him closer, arms hooked around his neck as she nuzzled her nose into his cheek.
“I fucked up. Xi, I’m sorry. I didn’t think about it like that…” he whispered into her shoulder, shaking his head as shame filled him.
“I think you’re just blinded by your love for me,” she teased, making him release a laugh at her joke.
“How mad are you at me right now?” he asked, standing his full height to face her properly.
“I'm not mad,” she frowned, pulling him into the V of her thighs by his belt. “Just- just a bit frustrated maybe. I still love you the same amount if that’s what you’re worried about,” she smiled. “We’re bound to have disagreements now and again.”
“Wait, that’s it?” he asked.
“What do you mean?” she laughed, staring at his confused expression- it was freaking adorable.
“You forgive me? Just like that?”
Xilä rolled her eyes, amused by her husband’s reaction. “Neteyam. I’m not going to make you jump through hoops for my forgiveness. We both communicated our feelings on the matter…We’re good.”
“Alright...Well would you at least let me make it up to you then?” he requested, eyes suddenly glinting with mischief as a hand crept up the inside of her top to fondle her breast.
“Oh you’re so slick, huh?” she mused.
“Maybe a little,” he shrugged. “You know they say make up sex is supposed to be really hot,” he taunted against her lips, his free hand hooking behind a knee, steadying her when he rocked into her core once, letting her feel his growing intention.
“Make up sex?” she echoed with a humored frown, squirming to get him to rock into her again.
“Mhm. We just had our first fight. So now we have to make it all better.”
“Oh really?” she sang, dropping her head backwards while he peppered kisses along the column of her neck.
Xilä gasped when he bit her lightly, teasing her with his tongue and teeth.
“Mmmm. Handsome I can’t though. I’m way past late for my lesson with your grand-”
“What is it that you’re always saying?” he pondered, fast fingers untying the knot of her skirt. “Ohhh right. We can be quick about it,” he mimicked in a girlish voice.
She laughed and fixed him with a playful glare. “I do not sound like that. Is that how you think my voice sounds?”
“Just one please, Teyam,” he imitated again, baring her hardened nipples with a simple tug, smiling down at them as if they were long lost friends finally being reunited. “That’s exactly how you sound, baby. Where’s my greedy mate gone today? Hm?” he taunted again.
Neteyam stopped his pawing to smirk at her, enjoying the way she bit her lip in contemplation. “I missed you last night,” he confessed, voice low in honesty.
“I missed you too, handsome. We should talk later…now that everyone knows, I want us to move in together…please?”
“Yes. Fuck yes. We’re moving in tonight. I don’t care how late this dinner goes,” he said urgently, nodding his head vigorously.
Xilä laughed out loud. He was like a child finally being granted his favourite treat.
“Okay,” she agreed, “So then we can just do the make up sex later then, yeah? I don’t want to walk into your grandmother’s tent smelling of you. I’ve been mortified enough for the past few months alone,” she chucked, trying to sit up and right her strewn top.
“Mmmm, yeah I guess,” he said reluctantly before deciding something else. “Lemme eat you out at least,” he grumbled, going onto his knees with much determination, causing to laugh out loud again.
“Wait, hang on,” he said, mere inches away from her damp center. “How did they find out about us anyway?” he asked, peering up at her.
“Ummm. I, well I may have let it slip that I drink Qla’ira root tea,” she admitted, fiddling with one of his braids sheepishly.
Neteyam rolled his eyes. “That damn fucking tea,” he grumbled before turning back to his task.
Xilä’s amusing chuckle turned into a moan.
Her husband apparently had a rivalry with said tea. He’d glare at it every time he saw her drink it.
He pulled back to grin up at her with shiny lips. “Are you going to stay nice and quiet for me, sweetheart?”
~
Neteyam anxiously waited at the threshold of his home for the arrival of his mate and her family that evening.
Sal was all smiles when she greeted him first. One arm full with a beautifully assembled arrangement of flowers which he assumed was a gift for his parents. She patted his cheek affectionately, with a, “Hello my dear boy,” before heading inside without needing an invitation.
D’avi was right behind her, juggling two wiggling babies. “Here,” she said with a tired yawn and dark under eyes, handing him an infant in greeting. “Have some practice.” And then she was gone.
Blinking down at the tiny squirming baby girl in his arms, Neteyam felt himself begin to panic when she released an unhappy whine.
Muscle memory kicking in, he adjusted her more comfortably in the cradle of his arms, bouncing her gently the same way he used to with Tuk.
“Hey, hey. None of that, you’re okay. It’s alright,” Neteyam soothed. “Don’t worry L’eya, I’ll talk to your mom about just handing you off without warning. But we’ll give her a break for now, she’s probably tired, yeah?” he smiled.
L’eya’s face scrunched up into a cute pout, unsure whether to cry or not, big golden eyes peering up at him in uncertainty. But then she eventually settled, letting out a surprisingly loud coo as she stretched.
“Hey man, cute baby,” Yalnïk teased when he arrived a few moments after- arms overfull and ladened with a bounty of items.
“Hey…Ah, what’s all of this?” Neteyam asked in alarm.
“Fuck if I know. Gifts I’m assuming. My mate and mother-in-law just said to bring ‘em. I’m not going to ask questions.”
“Smart man,” Neteyam laughed, wiping away a bit of drool flowing down L’eya’s chin. “Xi and Jxo behind?”
“Yeah, I believe they were finishing their chat …Speaking of,” he continued, using his chin to catch a parcel that almost went tumbling, nudging it back into place. “Brother…you and Xi,” he said disbelievingly. “You’ve got balls, I’ll give you that.”
Neteyam scoffed at the man’s comment, amused all the same. “How’d Jxo seem?” he couldn’t help asking.
“I honestly can’t tell. But hey, a word of advice, use the baby. Great shield.”
“Yalnïk, I’m not going to use you kid to-”
But Yalnïk was already making his way inside, citing that his arms were getting tired.
Xi and Jxo were the last to show up. Hurrying ahead of her father when she spotted him, Xilä was practically swooning at the sight of him holding baby L’eya.
“Hi handsome,” she said sweetly, leaning up to give him a peck on the lips. “You look good holding a baby,” she whispered, biting her bottom lip appreciatively.
“Are you getting ideas sweetheart?”
“Maaaybe,” she sang, shaking L’eya’s hand gently, smiling when the baby kept trying to pull her finger into her drooly mouth.
“Don’t tempt me Xilä Sully,” he said with a low growl, darkening eyes firmly set on his wife’s face. If he had his way, she’d be fucking pregnant already.
Jxo approached just then, stopping whatever comment she was about to make and halting the naughty thoughts swirling in both their heads.
“Xi, why don’t you head in darling. I want to have a word with my…son-in-law,” the elder said, narrowed glare forcing Neteyam to swallow uncomfortably.
“Alright. Want me to take her?” she asked her mate, referring to the little one in his arms.
“Uh,” Neteyam shot a glance at the elder. “No babe, I think I’m good,” he replied, shifting the infant higher up his chest so her cheek rested against his shoulder.
It was almost comical how tiny the baby was in comparison to the large palm supporting her bobbing head.
Mirth danced in Xilä’s eyes at her husband’s response and obvious shift to display the baby better. She’d seen Yalnïk pull the same move before.
“Okay, I’ll just head in then,” she said with a piercing glare, darting between the two men as if saying behave.
L’eya sucking on her thumb, accompanied by her soft sighs and baby hums were the only sounds heard for the following few moments. It was an awkward silence, and Neteyam couldn’t get a good read on Jxo’s expression for shit. So he stayed quiet until the man addressed him.
Clicking his tongue, the elder’s gruff voice rang out. “Look…I’m not happy about the way you went about all of this. Fuck if I didn’t get a frustrated earful from my wife…but I get it. You did it for Xilä.”
“I did,” Neteyam said firmly, glancing down with a quirk of his lip when he felt L’eya’s tail tickle the back of his hand as it wiggled around lazily.
“I don’t agree with it, but if Xi wasn’t who she was- if I didn’t know that this was the best way for her, we’d be having a very different conversion,” he said, arms folded and still serious faced.
“I’m sorry, Jxo,” Neteyam apologized sincerely, he knew he owed him that much.
The elder nodded. “Yeah well, my kid’s happy, so- that’s the most important thing,” Jxo said. “Now listen here, I’m going to tell you the same thing I told Yalnïk…You’re her husband now, not her little boyfriend. That means something. Understood?”
Neteyam smiled, shaking his head up and down in understanding. “Understood,” he echoed.
“Good…Now hand over my granddaughter,” his father-in-law said with a surprising full blown smile.
~
Although at the start, Neteyam was fidgety and awkward, the dinner, as it turned out, was a surprisingly lovely affair.
Since the moment Xilä and her family had arrived that evening, he had been a ball of nerves.
It was the oddest thing, he didn't have any reason to be nervous but yet the sight of both their families mingling in one closed knit space had him crossing every toe and finger, hoping all went well.
Specifically for Xilä.
Neteyam kept glancing at his wife to make sure she wasn’t uncomfortable in any way, constantly checking in.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” he asked for probably the fifth time that evening.
“Stop,” she hissed under her breath with an amused grin.
“What? I’m just checking to-”
“Shh. Look,” she said, jerking her head at the sight before them covertly. “Look at our family,” she whispered, smiling eyes already staring.
Taking his time to observe, Neteyam started on his left where his brother was seated, around the large round table.
Lo’ak and Yalnïk were in a heated debate over the best fishing tactics- the older man shaking his head vigorously in disagreement.
“No way man, you’d get yourself killed if you pulled a stunt like that! Remind me to never take you fishing, Lo’ak,” he joked, slightly horrified over whatever crazy idea Lo’ak had just described.
Tuk had squeezed herself between Yalnïk and his wife the moment they all sat for their meal, and D’avi was currently showing her how to hold a squirming baby L’eya, adjusting the overexcited seven year old’s arms accordingly.
Then, next to D’avi, were Sal and Neytiri who spoke softly to each other. Neteyam’s brow raised at the sight.
Salveen was a naturally loud and boisterous woman, he could tell she was trying to be calm and distinguished in the presence of his parents. Sal held high respect for his mother, he knew.
He’d dare say it was almost adorable to see her complement his mother on her taste in home decor.
Beside his mother sat his grandmother and his sister. The two women were completely smitten with baby L’eo. Mo’at may be a stern and no nonsense Na’vi, but the elder completely melted when it came to younglings. “They are our future,” was what she’d always said.
Lastly, making the last of the round table, was his father and Jxo. Slowly sipping on their fermented wine, they seemed to be in their own world.
Straining to make out their words, Neteyam fought off a blush when he realized they were talking about him and his “poor attempts” of sneaking into Xilä’s room.
Jake followed the elder’s story by beginning to share an embarrassing one of his own about his eldest son.
“Dad!” Neteyam cried, hastily covering his wife’s ears. She was right next to Jxo and soaking up everything that was being said. “You promised never to repeat that incident.”
“I did no such thing,” Jake laughed. “Close your ears if you don’t want to hear then.”
“Babe, don’t listen to him,” he told Xi, bodily lifting her to his other side with ease, between him and Lo’ak, causing the entire table to burst into laughter over his behavior.
When things settled again, Xilä pressed up into his side- cheek to shoulder. “Do you see it then? They’re all here for us. It’s amazing isn’t it?” she mused quietly, still peering at the different interactions in front of them.
Neteyam nodded, it was in fact an amazing sight- their both families mingled as one.
Kissing the top of her head, he felt her closeness wash over him, calming his anxiety from before. “I love you Xilä Sully.”
As they feasted, the conversations changed with rapid fluidity.
At one point when Lo’ak asked, Kiri relayed the story of how Sal and Neytri had accidentally found out- keeping of course the entire Qla’ira root tea topic out of it.
The moment she said the words, “and then Neteyam goes, We are mated before Eywa,” Mo’at shocked them all by releasing a loud bark of laughter.
Slacked jaws and raised brows all around, the Tsahìk simply glanced at her daughter and then at her son-in-law. “Sound familiar?” she asked them knowingly with a delighted gleam in her eyes.
Unbelievably, Neteyam’s parents turned embarrassed, with tinted cheeks and flattened ears.
The rest of the night went just as wonderful.
When it was finally time, Neteyam and Xilä stood before Mo’at while she sang a chanting prayer, waving a burning piece of incensed bark as she blessed their union.
The Tsahìk’s words held strong meaning and Xilä’s eyes filled with tears as she stared up at her mate, even Neteyam felt his own prickle.
Sal, Jxo, Neytiri, Jake. Each took their turn to complete the blessing ceremony. They were all proud grins and teary smiles.
The final step was a bit of torture for Neteyam.
Fingers dipped in bright pigmented paint, he and Xilä took turns to trace over the lines of each other’s face and body.
Neteyam had to remind himself they were in the presence of their family. He couldn’t ravish his wife the way he very much wanted to at that moment.
She was beautiful- cyan skin glowing beneath his artwork.
By the time the evening turned well into the night, two groups broke off around the main room of the Sully tent.
The women surrounded Xilä as she opened gift after gift. Housewarming tokens consisting of soft cushions, blankets and delicately sewn decor pieces that Sal had slaved over in secret.
There was a beautiful set of wooden crafted bowls, cutting boards, little pots for spices and even a hand carved knife set for cooking- all made by Jxo.
Meanwhile, Neyeam and the other men continued to lounge around the family table, enjoying a Na’vi game his father had once described as “a complicated version of chess.”
Kiri had handed him baby L’eo before she left to join the others across the room. Whereas D’avi eased L’eya into his brother’s arms since her husband and gone to relieve himself.
Lo’ak who was completely taken by surprise, was awkward in his handling of the infant.
The baby stared at him for a few seconds before she instantly began to wail. The sight of Loak’s panicked and horror struck expression had all the men in hysterics.
Then, as if sensing his sister’s distress, L’eo too followed by bursting into tears- cheeks staining purple as his features scrunched up in anger, tiny fists clenched tightly.
Yalnïk arrived back just in time and took pity on Loak, taking his baby girl into his arms and calming her in seconds with a familiar Na’vi song and little pats on her back.
Neteyam had just gotten L’eo to settle down as well when he locked eyes with his wife across the room.
She looked away with a blush having been caught staring.
~
The following day Xilä was a ball of excited energy.
Tsahìk had kindly given her a few days off from her lessons which she absolutely appreciated, because it was time.
It was finally, moving day!
Their tent was bigger than most residential ones but far smaller than the Sully’s grand home and it was situated in a newly developed community on the western side of the clan.
All morning Jxo and three of his woodwork guys were a flurry of coordinated efficiency. They were in and out as they brought in beautifully crafted furniture, one after the other.
The men double checked and made sure the tent’s beams were secure and even installed the privacy drapes for her and Neteyam’s bedroom.
Xi grinned as she watched them test the tent’s ventilation by lighting the indoor stove in her little kitchenette. The wood and kindling fueled stove was a neatly dug hole in the ground which was casted by hardened clay.
Jxo really went all out for them.
People kept stopping by as well, congratulating them on their match. Word had gotten out by now about her and Neteyam. And the overwhelming support and genuinely happy persons over their union was both surprising and beautiful.
The gifts and cooked food and treats kept coming as well. Xilä had no choice but to designate a corner of the tent for the ever growing pile. She’d have to sort through it all later, but she was immensely grateful.
Neteyam, who had disappeared a while ago, returned with a heavy looking roll which was hefted onto his shoulder. He surprised her when he unrolled it to reveal a large colourful tapestry.
“Teyam! You didn’t!” she exclaimed in shock, running her fingertips across the intricately beautiful design in disbelief.
“You said you wanted one with all the colours from Sal’s friend,” he said with a shrug, obsessed with the way she was practically shaking in excitement.
Without warning, she was surging onto the balls of her feet, arms around his neck to pull herself up his body, granting her access to pepper kisses all over his face.
“I”- she kissed his cheek- “love”- nose-“you”- chin - “so freaking much,” she mumbled against his lips, uncaring of the chuckles from men around them working.
Neteyam beamed, absorbing all her attention without complaint.
“Alright, alright. Cut it out before I lose my breakfast,” Jxo grumbled from where he was crouched. He’d been adding a few finishing touches to the design he had carved on the large round table he built for them.
And despite his complaining, there was no actual bite to his tone. What was even more shocking was the covert nod of approval he sent Neteyam for making his daughter happy.
Around lunch time Jake, Lo’ak, Yalnïk and his twin arrived. Between the four of them they heaved Neteyam’s heavy and massive hammock in, placing it where Xilä directed them to.
Sal and one of her elderly friends showed up shortly after with basket ladened arms. They’d brought lunch for everyone, including two flasks full of freshly squeezed yovo juice. And to combat the midday heat the flasks had been left to chill in the river, so the juice was not only sweet but beastly cold.
With the help of his mother and sisters, Neteyam only needed to make two trips, to and from home to move in his belongings.
By late evening, when the men packed up their tools, and there was nothing else much for anyone to do, Xilä thanked them all profusely with the promise of making them each one of her Honey Cornbread loaves, to which the Olo'eyktan, nodded eagerly as he rubbed his hands together in excitement.
When Jake had first tried her experimental sweet and savory loaf, he was flat out ecstatic. He inhaled an entire loaf on his own, complimenting her on how amazing it was. Her father-in-law had said the flavors tasted familiar to him. He’d said it reminded him of honey and cornbread, from back on earth. And so the name was born.
Sal, Jxo and Lo’ak were the last to leave. While her mother swept the tent one final time with a large feather-like leaf, Xilä hugged Jxo for a long time. She was feeling emotional for some reason.
Neteyam watched the little family from where he stood arranging his weapon collection. When Salveen joined the hugging pair, the trio were all teary smiles and hushed whispers as they said their goodbyes.
He made his way over when they eventually broke apart, leaning down to accept his mother-in-law’s kiss on the cheek, then clasping arms with his father-in-law, promising them again that he’d take care of their daughter.
Hugging her from behind, he and Xi stood at the threshold as they watched her parents leave.
“Thinking of running after them?” Neteyam joked quietly, tilting to kiss her pointed ear.
“No. Why? Do you want to give me back to them already?” she teased, rubbing the muscled forearms circling her torso.
“Never,” he hissed, nipping the tip of her ear and licking it to soothe the sting.
“So I’ve been thinking-” Lo’ak said out loud, making the both of them jump.
“Fucking hell Lo’ak!” Neteyam said, irked.
“What? What did I- oh I see how it is, you forgot I was here…didn’t you,” he accused through a narrowed glare from his lounged position against an assembly he made of cushions.
They’d been gifted so many cushions.
Xilä felt her cheeks heat up. “Sorry,” she said apologetically, while her husband couldn’t be bothered. “You were saying, Lo’?”
She returned to the table to continue folding the pile of clean laundry she had been working on before.
Lo’ak popped another cluster of roasted ovumshrooms into his mouth first. “Right so I’ve been thinking- oh don’t give me that look, you two! You haven’t even heard the idea yet.”
Xi pursed her lips to stifle her laughter. Neteyam however plonked himself next to her, snagging an item from the pile to help her fold.
“So you know how you don’t know when your birthday is, Xi?”
“Mhm,” she hummed distractedly, covertly snatching and hiding her undercloth from her clueless husband who was openly trying to figure out how to fold it.
“Well, how about we give you one?”
“What?” she asked, head flickering to him as she paused mid task.
“You always have to guess when the year’s up to know your age, correct?”
At her nod, he continued, “And you said you were nineteen when you first showed up here, right?” She nodded slowly again. “Well let’s give you a birthday then,” he shrugged.
“Um, alright,” she said with a hesitant smile. “When do you suggest?”
“Tomorrow,” he said without hesitation. “Once a year the txep syulangs go into hibernation, and when they do, they cast this glow for the entire day, all through the forest- the women go gaga over it,” he explained with a sarcastic eye roll. “Anyway, I think it’s the perfect day for your birthday.”
“Lo’ak…that is so sweet of you,” Xi sighed out. “Isn’t it sweet, Teyam?” she asked, turning to her mate.
“Mhm, very sweet, babe. But what’s the catch bro?” Neteyam couldn’t help asking.
“Neteyam!” she chided.
“I have to ask, sweetheart. It’s Lo’ak!”
Xi side-eyed her brother-in-law who was grinning a little too wildly. “......Is there a catch?”
“Maaybe, just a little one- but it’s good! Promise. I  was thinking we could hold a party…here.”
“There it is,” Neteyam snarked with a knowing nod, placing Xi’s folded top in the completed pile.
~
With Lo’ak finally gone, Neteyam pulled down the flap of their tent, securing it closed. He made a mental note in his head to get a set of the bamboo chimes made- the ones his wife wanted in order to alert them they had visitors.
“I can’t believe it. We have a home of our own together,” Xi smiled, walking out of their room where she had been putting laundry away. “You and me.”
“Do you like it?” he asked, looking around like she was, admiring the decor and feminine touches she had added. It felt like a home- their home. It was the perfect combination of the two of them, and the sight of their belongings all cluttered together or neatly arranged, endured him.
“I love it,” she grinned, hugging herself. “We don’t have that much to complete now. Just that pile of gifts to sort through.”
“What are you talking about? We have loads to do still, baby,” he said, sitting back with a comfortable groan on the cushions Lo’ak had abandoned.
“Like what?”
“See that table? And that mat, and that beam, and the next beam and the-”
“Neteyam,” she laughed, cutting him off. “I see them.”
“We have to christen them,” he said seriously. “All surfaces to be exact.”
Catching his meaning, Xilä flushed. “Oh.”
“Yeah baby. Oh.”
That evening Neteyam made love to her all over their home.
He ate her out against one of the beams while she struggled not to collapse, trembling thighs propped on his broad shoulders which held her up, fingers fisted in his braids.
He took her from behind as she laid face down across their center table, screams muffled in arms while he kept whispering in her ear, telling her how good she was, how good she was taking him, how he was going to fill her up until she was swollen and round.
She jerked him off against another one of the beams, sinking to her knees to finish him off by sucking him down her throat. Silver eyes watering as she choked and gagged.
Then, much later, after they’d taken a break to clean themselves up and have their first meal in their new home together, Xilä rode him in their bed.
Tsaheylu made- always Tsaheylu made, he guided her, large palms circling her ribs, thumbs brushing under her jiggling little tits as she bounced and rocked and jerked in his lap- panting and moaning into his mouth.
“Touch yourself, sweetheart. I want to see you come all over me,” he ordered gently, and without further instructions needed, she reached a hand down to where they were joined, to work over her swollen clit.
Neteyam was always feral for the sight. She had come such a long way he thought. When he and Xi had first started fooling around, it wasn’t hard to tell that she was completely inexperienced. She hadn’t ever been touched, nor had she even known how to do it to herself.
Eyes glazed over, the memory of the night he taught her how to please herself- the memory of her legs spread wide as she chased after her fingers- the memory of expression when she came, back arched and breathy mewls- it gave him push he needed to fall over the edge, pumping her full while she rode out her own orgasm, screaming his name- always his name.
He groaned into her sweaty neck, panting as their frantic pace slowed into a sensual roll of their hips, drawing out the sensation even further.
Slumping back against the many little pillows and cushions behind him, he kept her close, fingertips slowly dancing up and down her spine.
“How do you feel?” he asked with an uncontrollable yawn.
“Limbless,” Xi answered, propping her chin between his pecs to smile at him.
Eventually falling into a light slumber, Neteyam blinked awake when he felt Xilä ease off his chest. He heard her wince slightly when he slipped out of her swollen folds.
“What are you doing?” he croaked, ignoring the soaked appendage that smacked his lower abdomen when he popped out of her. “Come here, baby.”
Cuddling into his side, Xilä nuzzled his neck as she got comfortable.
Neteyam had learned early on that Xilä was extremely clingy in bed- she was a glutton for his warmth.
Unable to help himself, he slipped a hand between her thighs. “Did you drink your tea?” he asked.
“Mm, yeah. I had it at breakfast,” she responded, eyes closed as fatigue slowly consumed her.
“Sore?” he asked, sticky digits still stuffing back escaped drops.
“Not bad,” she mumbled.
“Can I?”
“Mhm,” she hummed, pecking his sternum.
Pulling a thigh up his hip, he guided his tip back to her entrance and slipped all the way in again, right to the hilt.
“Good?”
“Good.”
Joined as one by both Tsaheylu and intimately, they slept.
~
Earth music blasted from a borrowed speaker in the corner of the main room. The center table had been moved to the side, creating space for a dance floor, and the distinctive smell of booze lingered in the air.
Lo’ak had talked them into having Xi’s birthday party in their home the following night. With the promise to keep the invitees at a minimum and also that he’d plan and organize everything- including the after party clean up, they had agreed.
So far things were going smoothly, but Neteyam wasn’t holding his breath. His brother had joked that he should dislodge the thing from up his ass for just one night and let loose and relax.
But Neteyam was anything but relaxed.
He sat idly chatting with a few of his and Lo’ak’s warrior buddies, eyes cutting to his wife almost every other second. She was dancing of course, doing dangerous and taunting moves with those hips of hers, unaware of the attention from other males she was receiving.
Neteyam openly glared at anyone who so much as peaked her way, famous side-eye slicing through the fools who were bold enough to try.
And as much as he wanted to kick everyone out of his home, he refrained. His wife was excited for this party. She had given his brother a bone cracking hug when he arrived with a birthday cake for her- one just like Tuk’s own a few months ago.
If anything, Neteyam felt like Jxo at the moment. All that mattered was that she was happy, even if all he wanted was to scoop her up and hide her away from prying eyes.
Lost in thought, he misplaced her for a moment. Scanning the room, he found her at the threshold, chatting with a new arrival.
Staring hard at the familiar Na’vi she was laughing with, he glared hard when whatever she had said made the male’s cheeks tinge as he bowed his head politely.
The next second of activity had him getting to his feet to make his way over.
W’aote, Lo’ak’s friend had approached the chatting pair and swung his arm around Xi’s shoulders, pulling her in for a hug that was too friendly for his taste.
A clearing of his throat and a pointed glare was all it took for W’aote to to snatch his arm away and take a wide step back from Xi, ears pinned to his head as he shot Neteyam a sheepish, apologetic expression.
“Neteyam, we meet again,” the familiar male said happily, offering him a gesture of respect, “I am Ze’lu.”
Slim arms wrapped around his waist. “Ma’Teyam, be nice,” Xi whispered, covertly pinching him in the side.
Forcing a polite smile, Netyam returned the gesture of respect with his free hand, the other had wormed its way up to cup the nape of Xi’s neck, effectively keeping her pinned to him.
“My sister,” Ze’lu continued, introducing the small woman at his side Neteyam hadn’t noticed before. “Kah’lee.”
No wonder he hadn’t noticed her. Kah’lee in question had been completely hidden by her brother’s built. If Neteyam thought Xilä was small, Kah’lee was tiny- not human sized, but still small for a Na’vi woman.
Nodding politely again after another jab to his side, he responded. “Nice to meet you, welcome to our home,” he said far too dryly before making their excuses to quickly drag Xilä away.
~
Later on, Xi had been chatting with Kah’lee and W’aote who had shown up at her side again that night, when she spotted a familiar face lingering at the tent’s entrance.
Excusing herself, she wove her way through the crowd of bodies, heading right out the tent and down the stone steps.
“Leati!” she called at the retreating figure. “Are you not coming in? Why are you leaving?”
The gorgeous warrior turned and cocked her brow, arms folded with a scowl. “I told you already, I made no promises that would come by.”
Xilä smiled, unfazed by her bitchy tone. “And yet you are here. I would not have invited you if I didn’t want you here, Leati,” she assured.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” she snapped.
“Would you prefer it if I treated you unkindly, called you names and told you terrible hurtful lies?”
Leati swallowed uncomfortably.
Huffing with an amused laugh. “Look. I’m not going to force you. But you should know there’s a spread of delicious food, lots of strong drinks and the most amazing cake that was made by my mother. So if you change your mind…”
Xilä walked off without another word and headed back into the party.
~
It was hard to keep up with his wife that night. Xilä was the most social he’d ever seen her be.
She was quite the social butterfly, ping ponging all over the room as she seemed to want to have conversations with each and everyone in attendance.
He would have had no issue with that before when there were only about fifteen people in attendance, but with every minute that flew by, someone new kept showing up.
Now his home was packed. Not only that but the music seemed louder, people were screeching as they chatted, he had to kick out a couple who were very close to becoming indecent in their bed and he also had an ever growing migraine.
“Lo’ak,” Neteyam growled, catching his brother by the scruff when he whizzed by, hands holding two large suspicious looking flasks. “Who the hell are all these people?”
“Uhh, friends?” Lo’ak replied with a charming smile, fumbling with the pitchers in his hand.
A familiar giggle had Neteyam’s head turning, and the sight alone had his blood boiling. Xilä stood with an unfamiliar male, laughing out loud at whatever he was saying, she patted his shoulder, tossing her head back in hysterics.
The male's arm snaked around her waist when she was bumped from behind, stumbling right into his arms.
“Oh yeah? Well then why don’t you tell me who the fuck currently has his hands all over my mate!”
“Oh shit. Um, I don't actually know him- wait hey bro! Dammit.”
Lo’ak hastily handed over the booze in his hands to the nearest person and scrambled to follow his brother. Neteyam was usually the responsible, calm and level headed brother. But Lo’ak knew that when it came to Xilä, all sane thoughts left his brother's head.
“Do you mind unhanding my wife,” Neteyam all but growled as he tugged Xilä into his arms for the second time that night.
“Neteyaam! Hiiiii my handsome! Look, this is my friend Villoon!” she slurred excitedly, spilling the contents of whatever it was she had in her cup. “Oopsie!”
The male Na’vi who had raised his hands in surrender when Neteyam had murderously approached, winced. “Its- its Vilhon actually, and um she tripped, I was just steading her. We were only-”
But Neteyam had already blocked out the blabbering man, eyes on his wife instead. “Xilä,” he said, lifting her jaw to see her face clearly. “Are you drunk?” he asked disbelievingly, searching over her glassy eyes, flushed cheeks and lazy smile.
“Oh fuck,” Lo’ak murmured, grabbing the cup out of her clutches and handing it off to a tipsy bypasser.
“Shhhhh, don’t tell my husband,” she laughed giddily, stumbling over her own two feet when she tried to squirm out of his hold. “Wait, where’d my-my drink go?” she pouted.
“Was this you?” Neteyam hissed at his brother, bodily restraining his writhing wife. “What did you give her?!”
“J-Just a bit of Spir’ytüs…I told her to sip it! I didn’t think she’d drown half a cup!”
“Just a bit of Spir’ytüs?! Are you insane? That stuff is fucking potent!”
“I know! I-”
“You are very very tall,” Xilä suddenly said, reaching up to squish his cheeks together. “And very handsome,” she whisper-yelled. “I bet you’d make some really cute babies,” she said just as loud as she felt up his chest, causing Lo’ak to choke on a laugh.
“Um, thanks babe,” he couldn’t help reply, halting her roaming hands. “Bro, get her some water, will you?”
“Yeah man,” Lo’ak said eagerly, relieved to make his escape for the moment.
Guiding her over to a corner of the room, Neteyam crouched in front of her as she slumped into a pile of cushions.
“Oh Great Mother, I love this song!” she suddenly squealed, “Kiri and I listen to it alllllll the t- I have to dance!”
“Nope,” he said seriously, catching her around the waist when she tried to escape. “We’re staying right here.”
Xilä blinked at him with unfocused eyes. “You’re grumpy.”
“Yes.”
“Why?” she frowned sadly, forcefully crawling into his lap, uncaring about his personal space as she plastered herself to him.
He made no fuss at the contact, helping her get comfortable, but quickly pulled his face away when she almost head butted him.
“Because all night you have been testing my patience, Xilä. You’re ridiculously unaware of all the attention you’ve been getting and the one time I leave you to your own devices for a minute too long, you’re fucking intoxicated. Also, who the hell are all of these men you’re suddenly friends with?”
“Wait, a-are you jealous?” she asked between a fit of titters. “T-that’s why you’re so up-set?” she hiccupped.
Neteyam sighed, jaw working as he stared at her, unamused. “I don’t see how that’s funny. Am I not allowed to be upset when other men gawk at you or when they insist on putting their hands all over you?”
Xilä beamed. “You’re so jealous, handsome. It’s so cuuuute,” she sang, wiggling in his lap in time to the beat of the song playing.
“Shit. Don’t do that sweetheart,” he grunted, grabbing hold to still her hips.
Unperturbed, and suddenly needy, she began to press kisses along his neck.
“Xi-” his eyes screwed shut when she sucked on a sensitive spot.
The moment her hand tried to sneak between them however, he snagged her wrist and pulled her away from him.
“Xilä stop it!” he said firmly.
His jaw dropped when tears welled in eyes and she began to cry.
“Baby, why are you crying? Shit, I’m sorry,” he said gently, cupping her face tenderly.
“I don’t know why I’m crying! I just am!” she snapped as she continued to sob.
Neteyam was at a loss for words. He had no clue how to react. He had comforted his wife time and time again, but these tears weren’t due to pain or suffering….no, she was just drunk.
“Bro…what did you do?” Lo’ak asked, crouching next to them, brows raised high at Xilä whose head was buried in his brother’s chest.
“Don’t. Don’t even,” Neteyam warned, taking the water from him to offer it to his crying mate.
Lo’ak sighed guiltily. “I messed up. I’m sorry, ‘Teyam.”
“Yeah well, shit happens right?” Neteyam said, shooting him an “I guess I can forgive you,” glare that made his brother’s shoulders slump in relief.
“Lo, we should throw parties ALL the time,” Xi said dramatically, interrupting the brothers' moment. “Every. Day. Every-” she hiccupped, “every night.”
Despite the lingering traces of tears, she seemed to be back to her bubbly state again.
“Fine by me, Xi-Xi,” Lo’ak laughed, ignoring Neteyam’s grumbles while he wiped his wife’s cheeks.
“Two hours.”
“What?”
“I'm giving you two hours to finish up the party and have my home spotless by the time I get back,” Neteyam said as he got to his feet, pulling Xi along with him.
“Really?” the younger brother asked, ears raised in shock.
“Yep. And for the love of God, please keep the horny ones out of our room.”
Lo’ak laughed. “I can do that,” he assured.
“Hey Xi!” W’aote called, running over.
“Hiii!” Xilä called back, from where she’d been leaning against her husband.
“This fucker again?” Neteyam grumbled under his breath.
Fingers wrapping around her bicep to try and lead her away W’aote said, “I could really use your help against these skxawngs in the next round of-”
Neteyam knocked his hand away, effectively cutting off his speech.
“Gimme a second,” he told his brother, passing a confused Xilä off to him. “I’ll meet you at the entrance.”
Lo’ak frowned, gaze darting between his friend and his brother, before leading Xi away.
W’aote swallowed nervously when it was only the two of them left. His eyes widened when the older Na’vi clamped a hand on his shoulder, fangs bared as he grinned dangerously.
“You know Xilä is my mate, right?”
W’aote winced when Neteyam squeezed his muscle. “Y-Yeah. Of course man.”
“Good. Then act like it.”
“Neteyam, it’s not-”
“I watched you tonight. You followed my wife around like a fucking pup. I don’t care if you say you only see her as a friend. But enough with the casual touching. Got it?”
“Got it. Sorry.”
“Good talk,” he said, giving him one last meaningful squeeze before walking away.
~
And that’s part 13!!!! A freaking rollercoaster if you ask me lol.
A big special shout out and hug to my friend Tori for all her help with this part. 💛
Also, it was getting wayyy too long, so the rest of the party will be in part 14.
Finally, all I’ll say is, enjoy the "peace & calm" of this one, because drama is soon to come 🙃
As always thank you for reading, please let me know your thoughts :)

Tumblr media
"Are you sure you want to go alone?" asks neteyam holding noah't to his chest. "Yes, don't worry I'll be fine" you say as you continue getting ready to go out to pick some fruits. It wasn't just any fruit, it was a very special fruit that bore its fruits a bit far from the village. This made neteyam a little nervous, but it made you excited. It had been a long time since you had gone adventuring alone and the simple fact of searching for a fruit excited you.
Since you had become a mother, all your time and space was for noah't. It wasn't like neteyam wasn't there. He was always helping you, taking care of you and the baby. But noah't had a very strong attachment to you. Neytiri told you that this was normal, she commented how loak was very attached to her when he was a baby, this was transitory. You knew this was the best time to go out, as noah't was taking his midday nap. "He's already eaten, he's clean…so I'll leave you two alone" you say going over to give neteyam a kiss. You knew he was worried, he still hadn't gotten over the previous events of your loss. And knowing that you were going to be alone in the jungle terrified him.
"What if someone goes with you? Why don't you tell loak" neteyam stops and thinks a little clearly. " No, loak no…but if you tell kiri or spider to accompany you?" neteyam has his hand holding you, gently stroking your fingers, you give him a grumpy look. You hated it when he got like this, nothing was going to happen to you. Everything had gotten better, the altercations with the RDA had lessened, they were in their zone and you were in yours. Also, you weren't going to get too far away. "Neteyam… kiri is busy with mo'at. Spider is eywa know where. I'll be fine" you give her a quick kiss, and run out of your hut.
Neteyam stayed quiet watching you run out of the hut. Yes he was worried, but he knew you were going to be fine. You were a strong woman and you knew how to defend yourself, maybe you were right. He was being a little overprotective. So he decided to lie down for a while with his son, it was one of the few days he didn't have to do anything. He walked over to the bed, this was a large hammock, which you insisted on having and which neteyam was forced to put up. He climbed up carefully, and placed his little baby next to him and close to his chest. He snuggled further into the bed and slowly zeroed his eyes.
Meanwhile, not far away you are walking peacefully through the jungle of Pandora. Enjoying the feel of the grass on your feet, the clean air and the coolness of the forest. Wow, you missed this… to be preoccupied for at least several hours. You knew you had to go back, noah't was going to get up and get hungry. That baby ate too much. And you couldn't stand to be away from him for more than 3 hours. You knew neytiri would calm him down, but you knew you had a curfew anyway. But enjoying your free time, you started running, faster and faster.
You picked up some fruits, and put them in a bag that you had hung on your waist. You also took the opportunity to take some feathers that some animals had left behind, these were perfect for the new outfit you were making for noah't. You were in your little bubble, until your ears heard a strange noise, it was familiar but strange. You crawl along the floor, trying to hide from whatever was making that noise. You took your time to analyze the noise, it was loud breathing and cursing that you could hear softly. Ok, it was something you could recognize, whatever it was was speaking one of your languages.
You got closer, hiding in the branches trying to see what creature was making that noise. As you got closer you could see the figure of a navi, it had military clothes, and it was not similar to the scientist's navis and it was kneeling on the ground… it seemed to be searching for something. You hide more in the bushes. What were the recoms doing near the village. This was worrying you… They weren't supposed to be around, that was the deal. You didn't think long and took your bow and pointed it at the target. You weren't going to risk it, this avatar could be dangerous for you and your family. The only ones who knew where you were was… wait.
You were standing there, with the bow ready to shoot the arrow, when you remembered who you had told about your location. Of course, he had to be the only one. Quaritch?…it couldn't be. The last time you communicated with him was seven months ago. That's when he saw your baby for the first time, after that encounter…you didn't hear from him. Why was he here? Were there more of them in the area? Was he going to betray you?
You lower the bow and start to look at the situation, the man was so into what he was doing that he didn't realize that you were just 6 feet away. "He's a dummy" you think to yourself, as you watch him get up. And you see how one of his hands is stuck to his chest and you can see blood. You could analyze the expression of pain on his face, and you can see how other parts of his body were hurt. They were like burns. You stop in your tracks… you had an inner fight, your instinct was telling you to stay away. But on the other hand you wanted to help him. What's the worst that could happen if you got caught again? He wasn't going to hurt himself just for the fun of it?
So you move a little closer and speak softly, but with worry. "Quaritch? Is that you?" you speak, this makes the man turn around quickly looking for the location of the voice. And there you could confirm that he did not have any kind of weapon, he is very hurt. His eyes were pained, worried, lost. "Y/N?" Quaritch, he spoke with a broken voice… he was about to cry. You slowly came out of your hiding place, and as soon as your figure was in sight. The man took several steps and was on the floor on his knees in front of you. You didn't know what was happening, you had never seen him like this.
"Finally I find you!!!" he let out a gasp. "What is happening to you? Why are you like this?" you ask, lifting his face in your hands. You were analyzing his wounds, how his clothes were full of blood. "They… they got rid of us" he speaks, as you watch his eyes fill with tears. He was scared, harmless and hurt. You could even guess that he was dehydrated. "But who did this? Why are you here?" you want to stay calm, but it was almost impossible. You watch as he collapses completely on the ground, he is sitting with his head down. He groans in pain. "Everyone…Y/N, everyone is dead" Quaritch looks up. You sit down in front of him, you didn't want to touch him too much.
"Hey, why don't we go to a safe area…get you all patched up and drink some water" you invite him, taking his free hand. Making him get up from the ground. Quaritch just looked you in the eyes, and nodded. You couldn't leave him here. He was your friend, he was hurt and you knew that if you left him here in the condition he was in he would die in less than 4 hours. He was in a very bad condition. Of course, you couldn't take him to the village. Neteyam would be furious and so would your father. And your mother…she was going to kill him. So as you slowly walk through the forest holding his hand making sure he was okay. You decide to take him to the beach, it wasn't too far and there you had a little shelter.
It was a refuge that you used from time to time. You used to go there with neteyam and noah't, it was also your space to go and take care of your ilu and spend time with him. No one used to go to your seaside shelter, so it was perfect for Quaritch to take refuge. While you were thinking of a better plan. They were getting closer and you could hear his breathing and how exhausted he was feeling. "We're close…hang in for a little while." As you reached the beach, you pulled him inside the small hut. You could see your ilu, poking his head out to greet you. You signaled with your hands for him to look for a type of sea clam, which was used to heal wounds. This had been taught to you by Tsireya, to train your ilu to follow command and even to know how to search.
Quaritch sat on a kind of bed. You approached him and lifted his face. "Hey…have some water?" you offer him water from a clay jar. He took it in a hurry, you could tell he had been like this for days. "Now…take off that dirty shirt, while I go prepare everything to heal those wounds" you speak, while you see that the man only obeys you. This was a new behavior for you, the Quaritch you knew was a strong, intimidating man, but now he was so vulnerable. You took some herbs that you had nearby. You had them here, in case an accident happened, you would be ready. All that was left was for your ilu, to shred the clams you needed.
"Hi'i will be back soon" you say. "Who is Hi'i?" asks Quaritch, he had finally spoken. "It's my ilu" you say. "And cupcake?" he asks, looking you in the eye. You move closer and wipe some blood from between his eyebrows with a tissue. "He's in the village, with the other ikran. It's okay…but you" there is silence and you can see his eyes fill with tears. Before he speaks, you hear Hi'i's roar. You run out to the coast, and see that Hi'i had several shells in his mouth. "Ahhh thank you precious… thank you very much" you thank him. Running back to prepare the medicinal paste that mo'at had taught you. Quaritch watches you work quietly. And then you stand up and begin to place the paste on her injured skin. "I don't want to clean it too much, because it has already created its own layer…but this will help with the inflammation and remove bacteria," your hands dab at the skin. And you listen as Quaritch moans, but you notice how he is relaxing.
"It hurts…but it feels good" you say, watching as you carefully place more on his arm. You find some cloths and wrap them up. "Now…tell me what happened? Why are you here…you know one of the warriors could have killed you" you speak, as you continue to work on other wounds. "They have decided against us…we are no longer useful to them. They sent us on a routine 'mission'…it was all right, my squad is fine. I got a message from General Ardmore saying that our service was good, but they needed new equipment. Out of nowhere the helicopter exploded" Quaritch speaks, while you are sitting in front of him you couldn't believe what you were hearing. "When I got up… they were all dead. Everything was destroyed" he lowers his head, you can see the tears fall to the floor. "And Lyle?" you ask. You didn't know the others in the group. But you did know Lyle, he was a great friend of yours. "He didn't survive…" Quaritch can see your hand go to your mouth, looking to calm you down. You get up and give him a hug. "I'm so sorry…" you are crying.
"That's why I came looking for you… you are the only person I have left alive, the one I can trust" Quaritch says, you hug him again. You couldn't hold back your tears. Your mother is right, humans can be so cruel, how they can kill living creatures for no reason. "And what are you going to do next?" you look up, you were already picking up some things. "I don't know… if I go near the base they will kill me" he speaks, you can see how confused he is. "Why don't you spend the night here, here…it's some fruit" you take out the fruit you had picked from your bag. "I'll come tomorrow and we'll talk about everything" you explain. "But no one will come here" Quaritch stands up, he is scared and defensive. You take his hand and calm him down a little, making him sit down again. "No, this place is secret…it's mine" you say, looking for some clothes for Quaritch to change and make him more comfortable. "Won't you stay?" he asks. " I can't…neteyam and noah't are waiting for me" you laugh a little, you see how his ears perk up with surprise. "It's true…you have a family. I bet the baby is precious" Quaritch says while playing with his hands. He did that when he was nervous. "Yes…it's gigantic. Literally gigantic" you say.
Before you leave the hut, you give him one last hug. "See you tomorrow…I'll be back" you say, as you leave the hut. You see that the sky is getting dark, how long you have been there. It was very late… it doesn't take you long to get to the village. You run quickly to the hut you shared with neteyam, when you enter you see jake playing with noah't while neteyam is preparing the dinner. "Honey you're finally here" says Jake, he was lying on the floor letting his grandson play on top of him. "H-hello dad…what are you doing here?" you ask nervously. If anyone found out that you were helping one of the clan's greatest enemies, in your hut on the coast, they would kill you. They were going to kill you.
"I came to visit you…I can't?" asks Jake, he noticed how nervous you were. After all…he was your father, he raised you. He knew your every moves. You walk over to neteyam, who is cutting up various foods. He is sitting down, so you hug him from behind. Trying to change the subject. "Of course you can dad, I was just asking," you say, as you continue to hug Neteyam. Neteyam moves his head, to kiss your hand which is hugging his neck. "Love…you smell blood, did you get hurt?" everyone stops what they are doing, even jake holds noah't so he can look at you. "It's nothing…it's a scratch. Look…I didn't get any fruit" you lift your shoulders, while giving neteyam a kiss on the back. "Well… but you're okay, right?" he looks up to study you. You give him a small smile and lean in to kiss him on the lips. "Love, I'm fine…just a little tired. I've been looking for the fruit all day and nothing" you pull away from neteyam, moving closer to take noah't in your arms.
"My baby…you must be very very hungry" you say, settling Noah't on your chest, so that he can feed. Jake watches you, he knows you are hiding something. "Honey, is everything okay?" Jake asks again. "Yes daddy…" you look away quickly. "Well…I'll leave you two alone. Rest kids" jake says as he gets up, gives you a kiss on the forehead and a squeeze on the shoulder to his oldest son. Jake was so proud of you guys, you had grown up so much, you already had a family.
Neteyam gets up and walks a little bit to be in front of you. Your gaze was lost, you had noah't suckling you, while you were rocking from side to side. Neteyam comes closer to kiss you on your forehead. "Y/N do you have something to tell me?" neteyam asks, he knows you were not well. First you didn't come with fruits, second... you smelled like another man.
I hope you guys don't mind me putting you on the taglist, since you were always supporting the first part of 'experiment 56'. I think it's only fair that you know about the sequel, first of all.

lo'ak and neteyam headcannons - random tid bits and some relationship stuff (sfw) ୨୧𓂅⊹⋆
i know it's been a hot minute since i last released content but anyways here are some headcannons absolutely no one asked for
okay so i've been adding more and more to this every time i think of it but this is basically little bits things that i've been adding more and more to over time - nothing explicit! i like writing fluff better ngl
neteyam
he's suupperrr clingy when you're lying in ur hammock together, like bro will not let go of you
he knows all the words to taylor swift's all to well 10 min version AND IS PROUD OF IT
he likes to come up behind you and tug on your tail - you PRETEND it freaks you out but you both know that isn't true
he is a l w a y s worried about his siblings - lo'ak the most but he is so protectove of tuk and kiri it drives them nuts
he loves the intimacy of you healing him - like you getting really close and having to sit on his lap and clean his cuts sometimes, he feels so connected to you
he tips really well. you guys could've spent like 10 dollars at a restaurant but he tips like 50 bucks - "i'm too lazy to do math rn"
he's such a grandpa he goes to sleep at 9:30 and wakes up at 6:30 without fail every night and STILL takes naps throughout the day
lo'ak
if you guys are hanging out in a group and he's talking and you're watching him, every time he catches your eye HE STARTS STUTTERING A LOSING HIS TRAIN OF THOUGHT
his ikran is super sassy like every time he decides to do something stupid his ikran goes faster than intended and scares the absolute balls out of lo'ak just to teach him a lesson
lo'ak can n e v e r keep still - he's the type to just always be fiddling or squirming around
he's actually the biggest sap ever, his favourite movie is the Notebook and it makes him cry every time
he would never tell you because he thinks it's cringe asf, but sometimes he purposely injures himself just so you can heal him, he likes how worried you are about him and how you lovingly scold him for being an idiot
this is super short ik but it's genuinely all i have the time and energy for atm, enjoy ily all xx

Imagine part of why Neytiri is so insistent on Spider 'being with his own kind' is because Spider almost died in her arms when he was younger and it scared her so much that she closed herself off from him entirely. ik this doesn't super make sense canon-wise, but . . . idk, deal w it y'all.
Spider was maybe six or seven, barely old enough to go outside with the smallest size mask they had. He was with Lo'ak, Kiri, and Neteyam by the creek, Neytiri supervising from the treeline as she foraged. He was finally getting used to this whole outdoors thing, taking to it all quickly. His spare mask was glinting in the sunlight from the branch he'd hung it off of before joining his friends in the water. It was knee-deep for them, but nearly to his waist. Even though he was the oldest, the other three had already outgrown him.
It didn't feel like they were much bigger, though. After months spent together in the forest, it felt like the Na'vi kids had nearly forgotten he was human. Kiri had started helping him paint stripes on himself and Neteyam had promised to show him how to use a bow for his birthday that year. After a lifetime surrounded by adults in the lab, he was happy to be with his friends.
And then, he fell.
Neteyam had faked a lunge towards him and he'd tripped over a log in the water, falling head over heels into the currant. It wasn't bad at all standing up, but he was disoriented and the water was murky from all the mud they'd kicked up in their playing. His body was being sent further down the creek and it was suddenly too deep and Spider couldn't stand up and he didn't know how to swim. His mask hit something hard and came flying off, whisked away into the water. The sting of whatever hit his head was enough to make him gasp and then he was maskless and underwater—
It only took twenty seconds for a human to pass out in Pandoran air. Four minutes to die. That was for a grown-up and Spider was small for his age, Norm said so just the other day.
So, he shouldn't have been surprised when black dots filled his vision and he was just . . . gone.
Neytiri's children had been playing in the creek with the Sky People boy all morning. She was foraging for a specific herb, at her mother's request, and all four children were blessedly entertained splashing each other. She'd agreed to take Spider with them when she left the village that morning, Norm and Max looking beyond tired. Apparently, the boy had been staying up late to stargaze, meaning that they had to stay up late making sure he didn't decide to play with any of the lab equipment (again).
She looked over at the four of them, smiling softly as Lo'ak tried to climb up his big brother, slipping and sliding all over. A glint of yellow flashed in her peripheral and she turned away from them, smiling when she found the herb she'd been looking for all morning. It was perfect timing, too, right before they would head back to the village for lunch. She'd settle Lo'ak down for a nap, but Kiri and Neteyam would probably insist on trying to help her prepare their midday meal. She'd have to leave out some seasonings if she was going to feed Spider, but—
Kiri screamed. It wasn't the high-pitched squealing thing she'd been doing a few minutes before, when Spider and Neteyam had splashed her simultaneously. It was one of fear.
She whipped around, looking for an animal or injury or something. Her three children seemed uninjured, but they were splashing around wildly, looking for something.
For someone.
She was in the water before she could think, practically diving downstream. The water reached her knees at it's deeper point, too tall for the Sky Child. She should've known the current would pull him, that he was too small still, too young.
She caught a flash of pink skin and blond hair and reached down, pulling the limp boy from the water. His lips were turning blue and his mask was gone. She must've shouted for Neteyam to grab the spare hanging from the tree, because in the ten steps in took her to get back to her children, he'd climbed up and grabbed it, flipping switches on the battery back she didn't know he knew how to use.
She didn't let him go as she reached for the mask, able to hold him in one arm as she pressed the device to his face.
Please, please, she silently begged, praying. Her children were watching, the boy was . . . he was too fragile to be in such a place. She was foolish to bring him out of the safety of the lab.
Spider took in a sudden choking gasp of air, turning on his side. He coughed once, twice, water and spit hitting the inside of hie mask. He grimaced, before sinking into Neytiri's arms, falling back asleep instantly. She let out a sigh of relief, rocking back on his heels.
"He's alright, he's alright." She promised, looking at each of her children. Kiri was crying and her boys didn't look far behind.
She led the home without complaint from anyone, something that would be unusual under other circumstances. She went straight to the shack, meeting Norm inside the airlock. She handed him over easily, clenching her fists to hide how her hands shook.
She remembered Jake, nearly dying in his human body. Frail and desperate for air. Spider was a child, barely more than a baby. She could barely stand watching her mate suffer through humanity. It would be cruel to make her children grow up along someone bound to die painfully. (It would be unbearable for her to take in the human as her own, like Jake had been hinting at for years now, if she would just lose him).
Idk what this is, it's like 4 am and I had an idea. Please forgive any typos, I'm too tired to proofread atm.
