Neteyam and Kiri harvesting coco pods and make homemade hot chocolate for the clan during the communal dinners

Neytiri making some new bracelets and loincloths for everyone to symbolize the colder season

Kiri finding a sun spot in the forest to go and nap for hours

Jake getting nostalgic over Christmas and his old life on earth so he incorporates some traditions with his own family to honor that (Neytiri actually loves it)

The Sully’s gifting each other something like a secret Santa and eat a big meal together and are all cozy

Jake taking the kids to the lab to visit the scientists who are extra lonely this time of year and Tuk makes up some dance to entertain them with

modern headcanons | highschool edition

⋆✮↪ neteyam, lo’ak, kiri, ao’nung, and tsireya

neteyam

he always walks you to class. he loves company, especially yours. neteyam would go the extra mile by carrying your bag or holding your stuff. and he’s so humble about it! he doesn’t even think that it’s something you should thank him for. to neteyam, it’s just the standard. he once told you that most of his childhood was spent with his mother and grandmother, two women in his life who really care about manners.

he packs extra lunch for you. neteyam is the type of guy to bring an extra lunch box just for you. if you’re not hungry or you brought your own lunch, he’ll insist you take it home. you don’t know what you did to deserve him. he would experiment with different cuisines and sneak in little notes that make you swoon. sometimes, you return the favor. when you pack his favorites, like steamed fish or grilled meat, he loses his mind. everyone finds your relationship sickeningly sweet.

lo’ak 

he probably vaped at least once. he’s the type of guy to give into peer pressure. if someone offered him a blue razz ice elfbar at a party, he would try it without thinking twice. much to your surprise, lo’ak didn’t really get into it. he likes to brag about it though, especially to ao’nung. you scold him when he does. part of the reason why he tries to stay away from that stuff is because of you. he knows that you don’t like it when he jeopardizes his health, so he makes an honest effort to be mindful of his decisions.

he skips class. a lot. honestly, you’ve lost count of how many times he’s offered to “walk you to class” and lead you in the opposite direction. you guys usually stay on campus, like maybe in the janitor’s closet or under the gym bleachers. when you guys aren’t, though, you’re usually running off to a local gas station or even the mall. it really just depends on the class period. lo’ak isn’t exactly the best influence on you.

kiri

her favorite class is biology. it’s just the closest thing she could get to botany as a high schooler. kiri is interested in all things related to plants, to the extent that she started a club dedicated to maintaining the school garden. she doesn’t have any leadership positions like tsireya, though, but she likes it that way. kiri doesn’t want to feel the pressure of dealing with other people. she also doesn’t have the mental strength to be constantly reminded of the fact that global warming exists.

she skips class occasionally. you’re always surprised at how rebellious she’s capable of being. unlike lo’ak, she doesn’t stay on campus. she’s out the door when she gets the chance. instead of staying at places like the mall, though, kiri stays at the local park. it’s where she gets most of her work done. she usually doesn’t drag you with her against your will, because she understands that the risk isn’t always worth it. you’ve never said no to her, though.

ao’nung

he plays close-contact and collision sports. remember when he tackled lo’ak in that one fight scene? yeah. ao’nung would channel that energy into sports like basketball, rugby, and even wrestling. ao’nung isn’t a team captain or anything. that’s way too much commitment, but he does have the most influence. because he earns titles like “player of the game” or “star player,” ao’nung knows how to get sponsors for trips. you hate how it gets in his big head.

he sits behind you in every single class you have together. ao’nung finds it more convenient to talk to you this way. if there’s assigned seating, he’ll bribe, beg, or do literally anything else to sit behind you. it gets him in trouble most of the time, but it’s worth the effort. if it does work, though, ao’nung likes to braid small pieces of your hair or pass notes during class. your classmates give you two funny looks, but they never say anything about it. courtesy of ao’nung.

tsireya

she’s the captain of the swim team. she’s a natural in the water. she’s also very good at raising team morale, so there’s really no other person fit for captain. you always attend her swim meets and cheer her on as much as possible. if you’re being honest, she doesn’t really need it since she crushes the competition every single time. she literally brings home gold every single year. your school will literally never find another swimmer as talented as her.

she’s the head of the house and grounds committee. tsireya would be an environmental activist. she’s got a big heart. she spearheads all activities related to the environment in your school and even started a conservation charity. you have no idea how this girl manages all of that on top of sports and school work. it does get in the way of your quality time with her, but it makes her happy so you don’t complain.

𝐀𝐔: Just like the Songchord that is created when a Na’vi first comes into the world, they are also given a gemstone that represents them as a being. Throughout life, whenever this gemstone appears - it means something. Na’vi use it to represent themselves on their own Songchords and their clan’s Songchords. Their gemstone is also worn as an adornment; jewellery, sewn into clothing, and/or worn in their braids. 

𝐌𝐨'𝐚𝐭

・Her stone is Apatite 

・Known as ‘The Stone of Wisdom’

・Aids in the mind’s connection to the spiritual world

・Apatite is also known as the stone of the future and brings knowledge to those who are attuned to it 

・It also helps in psychic abilities; feeling, knowing more than the average Na’vi.

・Her stone was a part of the reason why she knew to make Neytiri teach Jake

・Those attuned to it/are chosen by it has enhanced brain power, originality and critical thinking skills

・Apatite is a dual-action stone, known for its positive use of personal power to achieve goals. It clears away confusion, apathy or negativity, then, stimulates the intellect to expand knowledge and truth

・She wears it as a necklace as well as bracelets

・His stone is Labradorite 

・Known as ‘The Stone of Mysticism’

・He was chosen by Eywa; we have seen reasons so far, but there has been hints of an even greater purpose for Jakesully. 

・This stone’s elements are Air and Water. Just like Neytiri, Jake has a love for flying - and he leads his family to find a safehaven with the water people. 

・He received his stone when his soul was completely transferred into his Na’vi body

・Legend says a warrior speared the coast to create labradorite 

・Is known for uniting opposing ideas, forces and people

・Cuts through illusions to reveal the heart of the truth

・Offers protection through ritual work

・Jake has labradorite beads tied to his arm band

・Her stone is Moonstone

・A very spiritual stone, which fits as she is the clans Tsahik

・It evokes the goddess, and in this universe, that would be Eywa. This rings true as Ronal is the Tsahik for the Metkayina clan; the one closest to Eywa

・It’s element is Water, showcasing her clan and its importance to her

・Moonstone is a stone of sudden inspiration and intuitive knowing. Some clans believe a Moonstone talisman can help the wearer make the right decisions.

・Moonstone makes you super-focused and receptive

・It also purifies your aura and protects you from psychic harm

・Ronal incoporates the gemstone as apart of her headpiece

・Awakens a heightened state of spiritual awareness

・It continually reveals that the most “sensible” solution is also the one that serves the Highest Good for all

・It has strong healing and cleansing powers

・Amethyst helps us to identify the root causes behind behaviors and emotional patterns

・This gemstone makes it easy to find the root of and dissolve the negative emotions that cause anger and resentment

・Blue Lace Agate teaches us that words create reality and so we should strive to use words that are kind and wise

・Neteyam wears his gemstone on every piece of his garmets; including his loin cloth design, and neck-wear

・Her stone is Citrine 

・Known as ‘The Light Maker,’ it carries the power of the sun and with it, brings happiness wherever the wearer goes

・Citrine is a joyful stone and has one of the most powerful energies of all crystals

・It purifies the energy of everything around it, and is one of the few “self-cleansing crystals” capable of maintaining its own brilliant energy field

・It’s element is Fire, which made Kiri upset when she first learnt of that. She wanted to be like her family - it was another reason why she was different 

・But this serves as a greater foretelling of her future

・Known as ‘The Crystal of the Sea’. It is a direct representation of water and the life beneath the waves

・Therefore, it’s pretty obvious that it’s connected to the element of Water

・Aquamarine encourages spiritual growth and greater awareness. 

・The ocean is believed to symbolize a real-life astral plane, and Aquamarine’s connection to the sea and water element is a spiritual representation of how it links you to the spiritual realm.

・Aquamarine is one of the most calming stones out there and works wonders for those who suffer from anxiety and stress.

・Aonung wears his gemstone on his armband

𝐋𝐨'𝐚𝐤

・His stone is Chalcedony 

・Chalcedony connects your physical body to the higher realm. It’s a spiritual awakening crystal that is also responsible for wisdom, awareness, and universal connection.

・Chalcedony is one of the oldest crystals for making weapons and tools.

・It enhances our self-awareness and encourages us to be more responsible, without becoming overly serious

・It is associated with the element of water, which explains why he was never as good as the Omaticaya traditions as Neteyam was

・It also explains why he integrated so well into the Metkayina way of life

・He wears parts of the gemstone braided in his hair.

・Her stone is Larimar

・It is known as ‘The Stone of Truth’

・A feminine stone, it’s elements are Fire and Water

・It is not yet known how the Fire element will come into play. 

・Larimar is a stone of truth; specifically knowing who you are and what you stand for. 

・ Larimar gives those attuned a deeper connection to nature

・Enhancing truth and personal understanding, you can use Larimar to tap into and harness your intuition.

・This is a direct depiction of Tsireya’s open-mindedness and welcoming attitude she shows the Sullys’.     

・Tsireya wears her gemstone as a necklace; tied in a rope

・Her stone is Rose Quartz

・Known as ‘Unconditional & Universal Love’ 

・Even though Tuk is young, she still shows an open-mind and open-heart to all things

・It’s elements are Water and Earth - which correspond perfectly. Tuk wasn’t of age to have her own Ikran, so she’s not used to being in the air 

・She doesn’t judge the Metkayina’s way of life, instead she embraces it. Making friends wherever she goes.

・Rose Quartz restores trust and harmony in relationships

・The Earth element rules Rose Quartz crystals; hence, you’ll easily calm down when holding this crystal, especially during stress, grief, trauma, loss, or heartbreak. 

・However, she does come from the Forest Na’vi - the Omaticaya. This represents the Earth element. And since moving, she has become one of the Reef people - the Metkayina. This represents the Water. 

・Their stones can foretell their future, but not every Na’vi wants to know their next chapters. So it isn’t a tradition to go searching for your future in the stone. 

・Only Eywa knows a Na’vi’s future

Note(s) : Psoriasis is a non contagious skin condition caused by stress, hormonal changes and immune disorders. It can also be caused by genetics as it runs in family. You get flaky patches on the skin that are painful and dry.

Neteyam

He's worried for your health, it was bad enough you were human but now he refuses to take you anywhere remotely dangerous. He worries if they look too red or flaky, bringing you to Mo'at with no questions or confirmation on if its actually sore or not. Sometimes it can get annoying, and to be honest it's not the best way to react, but Neteyam's doing it because he knows how stubborn people can be and doesn't want you dimishing your pain, regardless on if you've ever done it or not.

Has a schedule for you and your ointments, he won't let you skip one or two even if they're looking really good one day, Netyam is very strict when it comes to your health. If they get bad again because you've been a bit careless while he's been away you're in for a lecture.

If the areas where it's bad ever split he's literally doing everything for you no exceptions, and while he doesn't want to come off as overbearing, Neteyam knows how incredibly dangerous infections are, he can't risk further injuries coming from the scabs.

Whenever it's all flaky and crusty he admits he cringes a bit, but still doesn't mind bringing you to a lake or getting something to wipe the excess off. He's very gentle and slow, trying his best to prevent making it worse.

When you get to the Metkayina any bullying or harrasment is met with aggression, he won't go out of his way to fight, and even tries to deescalate the situation if it goes too far, but he will defend you.

He has a bit more trouble bringing you to Ronal, and ends up very stiff and awkward during the interactions of your health, less so if you talk to her directly. Because of this, Neteyam usually gets Kiri to help him gather herbs he can use to help you, and because some Na'vi are judgemental of humans and it'd be easier to avoid stares or confrontation going to Ronal.

If you itch, bite, pick, whichever, he tries to help by placing something with a layer of cream or some kind of ointment over the parts that you tend to aggravate, it's his way of being not only affectionate, but helpful in preventing an infection. Neteyam isn't judgemental as I imagine most of his younger siblings done it from time to time, he probably done it as well at some point.

Given that when it splits water and just touching in general is incredibly painful, he tends to convince you with how bad it could get in the future, reminding you what could happen if you don't try to prevent it. When rubbing them onto your skin he reminds you that you can ask him to stop at any time if he notices you flinching or closing your eyes in pain.

Lo'ak

He's mainly concerned, not overbearing, it's mainly small anxieties and asking questions that can be a little too invasive. They can get annoying sometimes even if he means well.

Wonders if because his family share DNA with humans that he could catch it, until you shut him down with the 'It isn't contagious.' which then gets him embarrassed on the fact he assumed in the first place. Ask him about it a while after, his face and even up to his ears and shoulders will go purple with a blush.

If you get made fun of, either by Na'vi or other humans, he'll defend you, as sad as the attempt is to watch, and relate to your experiences as he feels he can never truly fit with either. Even if the experiences you two have are wildly different in the simplest of terms.

Picking it usually ends in him being a little disgusted at the puss and blood that comes from it, but he wipes it away and washes the bacteria nonetheless, offering you comfort for the painful splitting. He can come off like he's disgusted at you, which he genuinely isn't, it's moreso the fact its gotten so bad and you could have an infection that ends in excruciating pain. He doesn't want you to go through that.

Lo'ak tries preventing picking and biting by telling you stories of how he nearly had to remove an arm one time because he scratched at an injury, this usually leads to you feeling anxiety or annoyed, maybe you're comforted by this and try to stop, either way he's trying to warn you of the dangers it can cause.

He takes a longer time than the rest to bring you to healers, unless you don't need convincing and go yourself, this isn't for a lack of caring, he just feels like making you go too often could make you feel babied.

Tends to ignore advice by healers, nothing major, but he brings you on exploration and hunts even after Mo'at or Ronal directly tell him not to.

He brings you to Mo'at very awkwardly, she tends to assume it's him in need of help for doing something dangerous, but whenever it's you she's sighing and asking why you didn't come sooner. Scolding him as he looks down and huffs.

Lo'ak makes sure to tell you he sees you for you, and he doesn't care that you have Psoriasis, it's apart of you, both figuratively and literally. He couldn't imagine you without it and doesn't make you feel bad for having it.

Kiri

Kiri feels really bad for you if you get bullied for it, she tries to relate to you given she gets made fun of for her being a 'freak', although her attempts come off slightly pushy, it comes from a place of love and wanting to understand you.

Her strong connection with Eywa allows her to help you, she's able to find the materials needed in order to soothe your pain without fully understanding where everything is.

She's been training to be a healer for as long as she could think, and is more capable than most in this list beside Tsireya, so she knows what to do on the physical spectrum of helping you. Emotionally, she's also really good! When you're feeling really down Kiri asks you questions, and if you prefer to listen, she's also amazing at speaking about things she's interested in.

When you pick and bite she tries telling you it won't help at all, explaining the dangers in detail, this can either distract you from it or convince you to try and be more aware of your actions, although you obviously won't always be able to stop if you don't realise. But if you react negatively for whatever reason she tries to be near you more often, gently removing your hands from the parts that you're going to pick or bite almost on instinct.

She will bring you to Mo'at or Ronal when she doesn't know how to help, listening intently so she doesn't have to. It's not that she hates the outside or anything, but in the Metkayinas she prefers to stay away from others from fear of bullying, both for you and her.

Ao'nung

Ao'nung made fun of you because of your 'strange skin', along with the Sully's for being 'demons'. After the whole Lo'ak incident he stops being extreme about his remarks but will still tease and mention it sometimes. However, if you genuinely have a problem with it and ask one of the Sully's, given the only way you'd be allowed with the Metkyina's is with the Sully's, to have him stop then he probably will.

I imagine he'd probably believe humans just looked like that, I don't think he's ever actually been 1 on 1 with a human before or up close. That's probably until he meets Spider, and you have to explain what Psoriasis is.

If it gets really painful he has no idea what to do, he then proceeds to be the embodiment of crying for his mother when he has an issue. He sounds fairly unbothered and even annoyed at you, but Ronal knows how he is, and she is side eyeing you both.

Will stand there and constantly ask questions while Ronal checks you over, she kicks him out after a while and remarks how childish he's being.

Given they usually only get painful if dry, though sometimes they're just annoying, Ronal suggested swimming more often, and so you joined in on the lessons the Sully's got. The lessons would most likely be longer with you because you tend to slow them down, at least you don't need to worry about breathing with the oxygen mask.

He'll try bringing you hunting every once and a while, mainly to help exercise you and help you be more useful so you can be more healthy. If you struggle and can't exercise more often, Ao'nung doesn't know what to do that could assist you beside help with ointments.

If you pick and scratch he gets kinda angry, it doesn't mean he'll yell or harm you, he just doesn't want you to be in pain. Ao'nung will hold your hands or cover the parts you can reach when he's around, but when he's gone it's easy to fall back into that habit. After a while of scolding you and telling you to stop doesn't work, he begs Tsireya for help.

Tsireya

She constantly asks her mother for help whenever it gets too painful or dry, Ronal tells her she can't help besides ointments on the skin regularly and Tsireya is dissapointed every time, wanting to help ease your pain.

Even though Ronal disapproves of you, being fearful of a betrayal given human nature, she will still be willing to help for her daughters sake and to remain in good spirits with the Sully family.

Tsireya tries ways to improve your mental health once you explain that things like stress can cause it, she takes you swimming in shallow water to try relax you and clean out any dirt that could be in the patches. She's gentle when guiding you and never presses hard against areas where it appears for you, sometimes she forgets how tall she is though and leads you too deep.

She's never judged or been rude to you, and when her brother or other people are she isn't kind with them. Heck, when she had first met you she had simply believed all humans had it.

Tsireya was really accepting when you told her what it was, she even held your hand and gently brushed a hand over some sore parts to prove she wasn't disgusted. Sometimes kissing them when it wasn't all crusty and all split.

Whenever or if ever you feel insecure, Tsireya to the rescue! She will separate the lessons with the Sully's and with you if you feel ashamed, only when you feel better about yourself will she bring you back. Building confidence is key and forcing you to the deep end, literally, will only shatter your self image.

Constantly reminds you to put the ointments over your skin and frets over you, loving to show you how much she adores you and doesn't mind your skin condition at all. Applying them herself if you forget.

She is still Ronal's daughter, and will be strict when it comes to medical issues, especially when they split given how painful it is and how it can become infected easier.

Again on the splitting or if you pick, she's hesitant to bring you back into the water, it hurts when wounds go into water and she's nervous you'll be in more pain. However, she does understand it can clean wounds and it's either this or wait until its healed to swim. Which she's fine if you prefer the second one.

If you pick and scratch she's probably the best one to have, she asks Ronal to bring her bandages so she can wrap them up after washing the dirt out and put ointments on, she helps change them and makes sure the bandages are thick so you can't scratch through them. Tsireya won't repremand you too much or get angry, she understands it can't be helped sometimes and besides some light scolds she treats you gently.

You despised his angel-like face, smiling insidiously, with his blue eyes looking at you. A devil was lying underneath. But was that really true? You were thinking there was a devil, but deep inside you knew that there was just a lonely child who wanted to do things he believed was right. The more you understood Eichi, the more you were able to find parts of him that were admirable. You always felt like his touch was kind of exciting to feel, even though you disliked him. His hands grabbing your arm and not letting you go, just to insult you for half an hour, felt surprisingly good. Maybe both of you were just looking for ways to see each other longer and longer. Slowly, his words started to become sweet to you, as you both began to be more composed around each other and be open-minded. You adored his angel-like face, smiling beautifully, with his lovely blue eyes looking at you... You weren't going to forgive him, since he wasn't asking for it. Instead, you wanted to forgive the child. The child in him that just wanted love and care, instead of hatred and loneliness.

Ah, Ibara Saegusa, your scheming, devious, and the most annoying business rival ever. You both were working in different agencies, and Ibara was too good at making you and your agency look awful. He was a smart man, and that made you even more annoyed whenever you thought about him. He was usually one step ahead, but whenever you took the lead you could clearly see an irritated look on his face, and you truly enjoyed that. Despite the fierce competition, there were unexpected moments when you caught a glimpse of something else in Ibara's eyes. Something softer, almost admiring... Whenever these thoughts popped into your head, you quickly tried to get rid of them. "There is nothing to admire about him." you were thinking to yourself, but you still couldn't get away from him. He couldn't either. You two were becoming overly competitive on purpose, acting like one of you was gonna become the winner. Yet, despite your frustration, there was a quite little spark in his eyes that made your heart race. Rinne indeed had a soft side, and you were just too perfect for him to handle. His feelings were confusing- the way he was trying to destroy you was a sign of hate but he never could've brought himself to genuinely hurt you. Maybe, both of you were too arrogant to admit there was a tiny bit of love growing itself through the bond you have.

You knew Wataru Hibiki from the theatre classes you took back then. You two getting closer happened faster than ever, with both of you being great actors. Leo Tsukinaga, the genius composer who had been one of your closest friends since high school, was a constant source of fun and chaos in your life. You've never seen anyone before, glazing at you like he did. It was nearly like you also captured him. After the performance ended, you both were looking for ways to see each other. You went to the backstage just to try to meet him. You were nervous, as you didn't know what kind of person he was but also, it felt like you guys knew each other since forever. It seemed like the world was going to collapse when you sensed Rei's touch on your shoulder. You turned to look at him. His presence felt ethereal. He was looking at you the same way, probably thinking the same thing. At that moment, you both knew your lives were about to change forever.

Listen, it was coming eventually! Here’s a cute fluffy headcanon for when the gang gets sick I hope it brings you some comfort

Jake is used to colds, back when he was human he was more prone to illnesses on Earth due to pollution and poor health so he doesn’t complain much

Neytiri pretty much spends an entire evening rapidly making extra herbs, tonics, vapor rubs, teas, and soup for the kids, and what runs out Mo’at shows up with more batches

Neytiri and Kiri don’t get too sick because they’re constantly taking herbal supplements and drinking teas to boost their immune system, so they are doing the heavy prep for meals and medicine

Mo’at makes sure to stop by to do some Tsahìk acupuncture and healing for Lo’ak, Tuk, and Neteyam who need it most

Lo’ak is a grumpy kid when he’s sick. Constantly moaning and groaning, whipping out all the dramatics “mother it hurts!” Coughing and sniffling extra loud for a little more attention

Neytiri is a total sucker and even though she knows he’s playing it up, she cuddles him, rubs extra salve on his chest and back, gives him an serving of extra soup, and snacks

Tuk stays strong, she’s unusually hyper but Neytiri scolds her and makes her nap throughout the day. She sniffles a bit here and there and complains but Neytiri just feeds her and takes her to the hot springs
