#Kirby Lore is wild and I love it

Okay but I feel like I need to make a post expressing just how much Margie loves Kirby. Like, she is balls deep in that Kirby lore. You bought Super Smash Brothers 64 for Pikachu or Link, she bought it for Kirby.
Kirby's Dream Land was one of the first games she ever owned. Clutching it in her little 7 year old hands, the fun characters, sunny vibes, and hyperactive soundtrack enchanted her in a manner that only Donkey Kong Country(1 & 2) could match. She'd leave her game boy on and just listen to the music on loop for hours.
She tried to follow the narrative continuity the best she could through Dream Land(1, 2, and 3), Adventure, and Crystal Shards, but only really got up to speed once she started getting access to the internet around the age of 12, and she's been lost in the poyo void sauce ever since.
Kirby is the reason she got into music, it's why she'll be moved to tears if she ever sees a King Dedede[aka: any normal peguin] live in the flesh, and it's why the dashboard of Raf's car is slowly being overtaken by the little waddle dees she has been collecting.
Because as much as she loves Kirby himself, Margie loves--LOVES--waddle dees.
Ever since Crystal Shards, something inside of her decided she just needs to adopt every waddle dee she can find. While growing up, she accumulated quite a collection and had to leave them all behind when she moved out. But now that she has her own perma place to stay, her own room, She's been rebuilding her waddle dee army.
Raf acts the unwilling victim to this waddle dee invasion of his home and car...but he is guilty of purchasing the little guys for her, on the rare occasion when he finds one in the wild. Raf is complicit in the waddle seige.

Does Kirby's extended cast get underutilized?
This i something I heard a lot of Kirby fans bring up in recent years. That despite big cast of memorable characters, Kirby tends to shove them to the side in favor of introducing new ones and putting the older ones on the back burner never to be used again. But just how true this is?
Warning, rather big post ahead!
Let's take a look at almost all modern Kirby games (including spin-offs) and summarize how each of them treated the extended cast.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land - re-established King Dedede and Meta Knight as the part of the "main four" of the franchise, introduced Bandana Waddle Dee into the main cast after his role in Super Star Ultra. Introduced Magolor. Referenced Wham Bam Rock, Dragoon from Air Ride and Marx via stone transformations. Galacta Knight returns from Super Star Ultra as a surprise boss in the True Arena.
Kirby's Dream Collection: New Challenge Stages (yes, i'm going to count it, since Kumazaki confirmed that Magolor moved to Dream Land when he reformed and this is so far the only game to actually show it), - but, yeah, we see Magolor again in a fairly major role, the first time he appears as a good guy with a bit of a trickster streak to him, suggested that he stayed in Dream Land after he gifted Kirby and co a theme park.
Kirby Triple Deluxe - cameos of a lot of characters from sprite-based games via keychains (of note, Magolor and Yin Yarn got special keychains with exclusive 8-bit sprite artwork), animal trio from Dream Land 2 appear as stage hazards in Kirby Fighters, Shadow Kirby appears as the final boss of Kirby Fighters, Magolor cameos as a painting in the haunted mansion level of the Wild World, the dimensional mirror and Dark Meta Knight return after the long absence. Introduced people of the sky, Taranza and Queen Sectonia.
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe - Taranza is featured as one of Dedede's friends and supporters on the trophies and on the title screen. It was confirmed that the game itself is set in a theme park Magolor created for Dedede, Magolor himself appears in the final, most difficult, stage.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Bandana Dee is reinforced as Kirby's true P2 character, Drawcia is referenced and got a special collectible in a figurine, being one of the few spin-off characters to appear more than once alongside Yin-Yarn. Animal buddies are referenced in Kirby transformation sequences. Pon and Con get a cameo in Elline's diary as comedy show hosts.
Kirby Planet Robobot - Oh boy. This one. Well, we of course have a LOT of returning bosses from the past games, such as clones of Dark Matter and Queen Sectonia (giving us a glimpse as her original body before she transformed, adding a major lore revelation past her introduction), people of the sky and floralia are mentioned on numerous occasions in the pause screen descriptions, quite a few characters got brand new artwork via stickers (such as daroach, magolor and taranza). And the last but certainly not least, we have Star Dream which is one of the clockwork stars like Galactic Nova. While not exact same as Nova, it's meant to be of the same species as Nova and the reveal banks on you knowing that, so it's one of the most direct continuity nods in the franchise.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe - this game features, although AU versions, but still, of Susie and Taranza, and, unknowingly at the time, the same Magolor we already know and love in a different role entirely. Although it's technically different versions of the characters, I still count it, because it's still new game and new story that uses familiar faces.
Kirby Star Allies - i will die if i try to list everything this game has. but let's just say pretty much every mainline kirby game (and a lot of spin-offs) were referenced in some capacity, and 90% of major characters of all mainline kirby games are accounted for and PLAYABLE in this one.
Super Kirby Clash - Magolor is once again is the shopkeeper, AU Taranza and Susie have major roles once again, au version of NIGHTMARE of all characters is the main villain, technically making him the first antagonist since Dark Matter to appear in more than one game, King D-Mind returns by the virtue of this game being a sequel to the original Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Galacta Knight re-appears as Aeon Hero, hinting at his origins.
Kirby Fighters 2 - Magolor and Gooey are playable characters, implied to be a part of Kirby's inner friend circle on the level of Bandana Dee, Meta Knight and King Dedede. The first spin-off to include playable characters outside of the primary main cast. Several newer characters such as Flamberge were referenced via unlockable costumes, as well as appearing (alongside her sisters) as stage hazards on the Jambastion stage.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - this is perhaps the first Kirby game on this list where I can't say they concerned themselves with referencing the past much. But that's kind of the point, Shinya Kumazaki described Star Allies and Forgotten Land as "sister games" and in this sense, you can say that SA got all the unsubtle continuity and references, while FL is definite step towards new original direction. However, it's still got a lot of subtle connections AND UNEXPECTED canonization of Morpho Knight. A character that was literally introduced a GAME AGO. It's also been heavily alluded that the civilization formerly inhabiting the New World is heavily related to the (eventually) Halcandran ancients, giving us a genuine glimpse at their culture. Even then, this game is the exception that proves the point. Lack of references and fanservice, or major character comebacks is this game's specific weird factor, not the rule.
Kirby's Dream Buffet - this is similar to Star Allies where there's a LOT of references to past games. You can pretty much dress up Kirby as almost every character in the series, including the likes of the Mage Sisters and newly introduced Elfilin from Forgotten Land.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe - Merry Magoland introduces masks which not only make it so all of the dream friends and helpers from Star Allies cameo in this game, as well as new characters from the Forgotten Land, they also make it so this isn't exclusive to purely playable characters. Giving us masks of Hyness, Queen Sectonia and Leongar. Magolor Epilogue is one huge mode focused on Magolor specifically, the first time such luxury been given to someone outside of the primary main cast. Said mode also references and alludes to a lot of games (including Dream Collection), as well as tying it towards Kirby Clash games in another unexpected continuity moment.
As you can see, not a lot of these roles are major, but it's not the main point I'm trying to come across. HAL remembers about these characters and definitely knows that fans love them and want more of them. It's simply the matter of building up the series from ground up after what essentially amounted to big hiatus in the 00s. Returning characters in another mainline game just right after they were introduced would be a tacky move that would be way too safe and complacent. Building up the cast was the right move and they are slowly but surely started embracing it more and more over time. Forgotten Land is distinctly only game in this list that mostly avoided direct returns and callbacks and it still got Morpho Knight.

(on the req post)
I.really like the idea of Hyness x galacta knight or zan partazanne (all from kirby/kirby star allies)
But like what if thruple?
I like the divorced mom aesthetic of hynessx galacta and also the almost worshipp-y-ness of Zan
I think their whole dynamic could be funny
Anyway so like Concept! Hyness (once again,) overworks herself and galacta (who is used to this) just acts more or less normal
And there's zan, Who Panics, running around to the point her magic starts acting out, stressing herself out (maybe being a bit overbearing to hyness)
And they work it out (idontreallyknowman👍)
And uhhhhh couple other Hcs while im here!
I Latched onto hyness as a character and hc her as a transfem lesbian with autism (also i hc her name to be jess, use it if you'd like <3)
Zan or Zandra (as my head like always reads it(?)) has cybernetic limbs due to her lore n stuff, she's prone to being anxious and borderline obsessive about those she cares about
And Galacta (who's nickname I not even lowkey stole from a fic) or Loxi as nicknamed by hyness is still sort of trying to adjust to the modern world, but kinda clings onto the norms they know (older magic, language, hyness (as they've dated in the past)), they don't really get what hyness is really trying to achieve but stays along for the ride
That's my kirby yap quota! If you have any questions feel more than free to ask!
And Thank Youuuuuuuuu!! Actually so much! <3<3<3
-kinnie
Hyness, Zan Partizanne, and Galacta Knight had been navigating their romantic relationship for several months, filled with love, laughter, and occasional bumps. As time passed, their bond grew deeper, but areas for improvement remained. Hyness, the elder mage, was brilliant but often stressed and exhausted from her magical studies, neglecting her health. In contrast, Zan was anxious and overthinking, always ready to support Hyness, while Galacta Knight, the youngest, remained fiercely loyal yet adjusted to modern life slowly. One evening, Hyness emerged from her office, looking exhausted with wild hair and dark circles under her eyes. Concerned, Zan rushed to her side. “You need to rest, love,” she urged. Hyness brushed off her worries, insisting she needed to finish her project. Loxi stepped in, frustrated. “You’re not fine. You must eat and sleep,” they said. The argument escalated as Hyness insisted she didn’t have time, while Zan pleaded for her to consider her health. “Please, love,” Zan implored, her eyes shimmering with concern. “You’re going to hurt yourself if you keep pushing like this.” Loxi emphasized their concern, stating, “We care deeply about you, Hyness, and we want you to be alright.” Hyness shot back, suggesting they help her with the work if they were so worried. “Then how about you let me take care of myself by doing some of the work?” After a moment, Loxi proposed they assist her, but she had to promise to take breaks. “I’ll do that… if you work hard enough to help me!” Hyness responded sharply.

December Comics Round-Up
We're hitting the DC Explosion, and then right after that, the DC Implosion!
Action Comics (444-479) (1975-1978)
We're getting into longer storylines, which is fun! And I'm also enjoying all the little mundane "day in the life" backup shorts, they're better snapshots of characterization than most of the main storylines.
Superman (284-322) (1975-1978)
Starting to exam the balance of Clark vs Superman, and it's tipping more towards even these days when before it was pretty firmly 1:9 Clark to Superman. I'm very much not a fan of rehabilitated villians falling back into old ways. There's pretty much never a good reason for it beyond "the writer thought it'd be cool to have this guy be evil again" and it really exemplifies the worst trait of comics: status quo is king. Any development can and will be deleted at any time. And guess what! That shitty story was exactly when Martin Pasko (my enemy) took over as the writer! And then he continues to pound out the stupidest stories like he's competing with Bob Haney (my enemy) for the title of "the worst. And now it's the end of 1977 and we are bringing back kryptonite into the world. I guess some writers got tired of not having an easy out.
Superman Family (175-187) (1976-1978)
Lucy Lane has showed back up, once again only in Jimmy's story. This time superman got to meet her and see what's up, but still we have no idea if Lois even knows she's alive, I'm chewing the drywall folks. Out of the collection of stories I'm enjoying Kara's and Krypto's the most, loving Krypto's time as a movie star complete with a romance with his costar (tho that seems pretty over now, rip Krypto one day I'm sure you'll be able to keep a girlfriend)
Black Lightning (1-6) (1977-1978)
Rereading this as a part of the superman mythos instead of a stand alone is pretty neat, and I agree with all the folks who wrote in asking about a Rose\Thorn cameo, that would be great (I do not remember if this happened or not). It was interesting to see Talia with ties in suicide slums thru Peter Gambi, the first time I read I was just excited to see her (still am) but wasn't thinking at all about her future activity in Metropolis.
1st Issue Special (13) (1977) | The Return of the New Gods (12-19) (1977-1978)
Between this run, Cosmic Odyssey, New Gods 89, and Mr Miracle 77 and 89, this run is the most Kirby-esque. It does a really good job of picking up that torch. I did forget how very thoroughly they killed Darkseid at the end of it, tho it certainly didn't stick.
Mister Miracle (19-25) (1977-1978)
Of the Steve's I absolutely prefer Gerber to Engelhardt. I just do not like Steve E. But Steve G introduced Ethos who is rad and wrote a Much better Barda, and I would have been interested to see where he went with Alianna. I had forgotten about Scott's sort of merging/becoming a motherbox, and I'm sad that it seems like future Mr Miracle authors also forgot about this because it was one of the neatest things to come out of this run.
Super-Team Family (1-15) (1975-1978)
I picked up this run as a team-up mag, not a reprint mag, and deffo Not a Challengers of the Unknown save Henry Kissinger from the bermuda triangle and pretend he's some sort of angel of peace and goodwill towards man. We get back to team-ups about halfway through, but I'm going to need dc to leave Jean Loring alone, they cannot fucking be trusted with her. The last issue is fun tho! New Gods and Flash team up! Once again Barry has been nerfed for the sake of a team up (these authors just do Not understand how fast he is) but not too terribly and it was still v enjoyable.
World's Finest Comics (228-246) (1975-1977)
It is sort of impressive how much I hate every part of issue 228's main story. Every. Little. Part. I meant to finish this up to 1978 by the end of the year but it's wild how Bob Haney (my enemy) saps my will to read comics. What even was the Kor-el storyline? It's turned into an anthology, so I do get to cleanse my palate with Green Arrow and Black Canary stories at least.
Superboy (207-235) (1975-1978)
I understand that the story's that they write will always reflect the values of the times, but does a universe set 1,000 years in the future have to have the exact same values? Its just unimaginative. Also bls save me from reverse racism stories. ...hey.. I think it's pretty messed up to send Infinity Man back to spinning thru the tortures Infinity of time that broke him in the first place. Just saying. This comic (all comics) has such an awfully punitive bent.
Karate Kid (1-15) (1976-1978)/Kamandi (58) (1978)
Not so much a fan of this one.... they nerfed Val, he's having trouble with basic stuff and its especiallyobvious reading it side by side the superboy/Legion title where he is his usual badass self, and i'm sorta annoyed that they axed his flightring in the first issue, and it's orientalist as hell, like. These villians. This art. Whats wrong with you?
Adventure Comics (438-455) (1975-1978)
Sad the the Spectre's run seems to have ended, happy that aquaman's has started! The 70s Spectre was sooo much fun he's just murdering everyone in increasingly creative ways (turned a guy into glass and shattered him, brought a guy's taxidermy bears to life to eat him, turned a guy into wood then took the time to slice him up at a table saw) 60s and 80s Spectre could never. Wrt aquaman, 444 confirms that both aqualad and aquababy are nameless, then as of 446 aquababy gets his name! Let's see how long he lasts. 452 and he's outta here! Aquababy down, and I'm gonna make sure that Arthur follows him, what a dipshit, and Aqualad still doesn't have a name. Aqualad's backup feels a little out of character for me, like, he learns a group of pacifists killed his father so he immediately decides to fuck up their whole town? Implied to be willing to kill them? That's not my boy. I was a little disappointed to go back to superboy in smallville stories, but the first one was tiny babs w superpowers! So everything is forgiven.
Flash GL backups (217-243) (1972-1976)/Green Lantern (90-100) (1976-1978)
Forgot that Green Lantern had a back up feature in Flash! So I went back and read all these! Fun to have Hal back in space, tho i did enjoy all of his green arrow team ups, and also yay, Itty's here!
Aquaman (57-63) (1977-1978)
This was just none stop let's beat on Arthur fest and I'm not gonna lie, he so deserved it but even i was feeling a bit bad for him at the end. Mera's adventure to try and save Arthur Jr was badass and heartbreaking, and it ended with the trip reunited, and Aqualad said he found his name but while he found his parents names (also Thar and Berra? Really? Compared to Arthur and Mera?) in his adventure backup he sure didn't find his. Also they never actually say what name he found sooo.....
The Brave and the Bold (117-132) (1975-1977)
Okay I'm gonna need Haney to stop writing about any indigenous person ever. For real. He needs to shut his mouth. Then issue 124 was the most bewildering 4th wall breaking, author insert issue I've read in a while. Deffo implied that the writers/artists are in the same universe but still controlling everything that happens around them.
Teen Titans (44-53) (1976-1978)
I've got mixed feelings about this run after the hiatus. Love Mal's tenure as the Hornblower, hate that it's so short with no explanation (he just "loses the horn??" Bullshit) V annoyed with how they handled aqualad (he's psychosomatically falling into comas because of his "inferiority complex" comparing himself to the other titans?? Bullshit) but I do enjoy the big three parter at the end that has just about every teen hero out there. Mostly, I can see why it got canceled again: it just meanders without any thought to what's going on, the stories aren't that interesting, and they randomly nerf characters all over the board.
The Phantom Stranger (35-41) (1975-1976)
Well at least we got Cassandra back for the last two issues. And it was fun to have a Deadman team up! Overall this definitely fell into the "too preachy" category in the later half. (I mean. Its the Phantom Stranger. His whole thing is preachy. But still, its more fun when he's hanging out with actual people like Cassandra (sorry Boston u don't count apparently))
Weird Western Tales (34-38) (1976-1977)
Whelp these last five issues of Jonah in Weird West were more of the same fun romp, and I will be excited to read him in his own mag in January!
Shazam! (17-35) (1975-1978)
The last couple of issues suddenly got a new artist who was all about the more modern 70s style rather than the traditional golden age that they were doing before. Very much enjoyed Freddy beating the shit out of captain nazi. Overall I'm honestly meh about the Marvels as a separate universe, I'm looking forward to what'll happen in new earth.
Ricard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter (1-18) (1975-1977)
Woo-hoo Shiva's first appearance! Also Ben! (Sorry Richard ur a distant third) I'm really glad that there was never a hint of romance for Shiva, and everytime somebody ventured it she shut them down cold. And her love for really shitty puns, I liked that too. The whole thing was wildly Orientalist tho, like wow these authors do Not think there is a difference between China and Japan. Basically every minority gets the short end of the stick (sorry that u keep getting shot or grievous headwounds, Ben) but it is pretending to revere east Asian cultures so it's ridiculous that they don't actually know anything about them.
The Secret Society of Super-Villians (1-17) (1976-1978)
Finally an ensemble with a plan and a plot!! Its a little like a proto suicide squad if the squad had no one around to ride herd on them! And Darkseid is there! I enjoyed the first arc, but after Darkseid skipped town things got a little aimless. Lots of crossover activity with Super-Team then JSA then Freedom Fighters, and I know it got canceled and it's not their fault, but the last two unpublished issues are pretty much the Freedom Fighters show with nothing for the Secret Society.
Starfire (1-8) (1976-1977)
I will admit that i picked this up solely for the name of it. The first two issues are by Michelinie (one of my fave bronze age writers) and he sets up such a cool story! I think this Starfire and Kory would get along so well! Then some other asshole picks it up and it becomes 10x more uncomfortably sexual (nothing overt, SA just starts being a more prevalent trope) and all her lieutenants don't respect her and are only following her because they want to fuck her and are really gross about it.... why would they do this to me... the last issue had a new writer team and felt like it was gonna be fun but they deffo got unexpectedly canceled, so that's the last of her, rip.
Kobra (1-7) (1976-1977)
Oh God this motherfucker was written by Martin Pasko (my enemy) way to start on a bad note. I saw Kirby and got excited, but apparently this is right when he was leaving DC, so Pasko took it over and rewrote dialog and changed character designs. And another Jason B enters the ring! So far we have Jason Bard, Jason Blood, and now Jason Burr! Okay, it starts off retty good. The premise is pretty fun, and it's wild how the story beats follow Danny Temple's storyline in Robin 93 (not so surprising, given that he was supposed to get a run as Kid Kobra) but with like 500% less bio-essentialism. Like, we've got good twin\evil twin but it is strongly nurture over nature. Also I'm enjoying that good twin Jason just Does Not Like the cops, that's an unexpected dynamic. But then, of course, Martin Pasko (my enemy) starts off strong then flops when he has more than three issues to work with, i hate him what is this mess?? Double is so unnecessary! I mean I guess it's good to find out how Randu ended up blind, but at what cost?? Mel you did not deserve Pasko's bullshit I'm so sorry babe.
1st Issue Special (8) (1975)/The Warlord (1-10) (1976-1977)
I really like the combination of fantasy and sci-fi in Skartaris, but it does fall very much into the tropes and pitfalls of the time. Still pretty enjoyable, and I'm gonna have a good time reading it, I think.
Showcase (94-96) (1977)
New doom patrooool!! Love to meet Arani under different circumstances, wild that she fully did have a romance w Niles in this version. I can see why it didn't get extended, as it lost the "outsiders and weirdos" charm that the original had.
I did mean to get everything to 1978, but I ended up spending more time with friends and family than reading comics over the holidays (terrible I know)

...What time is it...? It's time to slowly clear out Dess's massively over-stuffed inbox with another LIGHTNING ROUND!
> both does and doesn't survive
Oooh, that choice of words!! /pos
> a refusal to stop just because the story says its finished
And ahhhh, this too!! /pos
...Okay, wow, I need to draw more Beast Pack now... (Sorry, I wish I had a more intelligent response than that but I daresay you already laid claim to the most brilliant words!)
--
Hello hello! As a fan of the show Firefly back in the day, I APPROVE OF GALACTIC WILD WESTS!
But no, this is really smart! Most of the people who come to Popstar could be easily categorized as shipwrecked or refugees of some kind. People from the "greater" more modernized galaxy winding up on a backwoods-y planet. (And I think it's been described that way in certain works. Or implied?)
Depending upon how you take the Floralia situation, Popstar could be a bit like Australia or some other small island callously "claimed" by the British Empire. Outside of a few places like Butter Building (and even that is a maybe) most of its locales seem to be places that are still standing from ancient history. Not a lot has been done with it from this generation of Popstarians. It's frontier-land.
Also, Max as a robber-baron is a A+++ idea! This all reminds me of how in my expanded Dreamy Gear concept, I made the HWC one of those shady AF age of expansion railway companies! It just feels very in tune with the way the HWC was doing things! (Under the table and independent of any galactic authority, to be certain!)
--
As far as that particular puffed up depiction of Dedede goes, I can see it too, tbh! ...Nyeh. XD
Pardon my YGO Abridged reference.
--
I have to admit, I haven't read every novel in-depth, but Takase-sensei is getting a lot closer to my own views of Kirby + Kirby-verse here. I feel like the Planet Robobot novel might be the last one of hers where I really appreciated the specific take she took with things!
(Btw, I wonder if we'll get a third novel this year? I still don't think a Mago Epilogue novel is coming just because no Meta Knight XD but I'm curious what other story she might cook up now...!)
--
I think it's a great thing to think about! Just like HAL and Kumazaki love to dump lore in the most obscure places, I think we're meant to think about these things! Enjoy going in depth on them!
Now, I think I lean towards a more emotionally balanced Taranza, even while seeing him as someone in mourning. I've of course laughed at the various crying/distraught reactions people have given him (which are all really funny!) but I also think that maybe he'd be someone to take it more as what it is - a tribute?
(At least, I don't think Magolor means it negatively. I'm not 100% on that, because he DOES like to play tricks on people. But I also have a personal HC that he learned about Halcandra and the Lor/Master Crown during time he spent with the spiders so I don't think he'd do that to Taranza to be mean. Maybe Magolor never reached the stage of being "friends" with Taranza and Sectonia, friendless wizard that he is, but I think he liked them, potentially?)
So, I think Taranza would be touched by the mask (he MIGHT cry though) and the way it is labeled. It's subtle. It doesn't flaunt the fact that Taranza never got his feelings across to his beloved. Nor does it disrespectfully rewrite history as if he had.
I think Susie is also able to have a fairly calm (?) or at least highly restrained reaction to seeing her father's visage. But again, I like the concept that she might mock-threaten to sue Magolor too!
If Magolor DIDN'T get contracted by Susie to make that Weekend Outfit Susie mask and instead made it himself based on observations of her in his trip through the timelines, now THAT would get him in some serious hot water for sure! (But she probably would compliment him on how she looks appropriately cute in it.)
...Daroach would have something quippy to say, I would feel. Probably something a li~ttle prickly about how it's funny he doesn't see a mask depicting MAGOLOR's time under the possession of an evil artifact!
Magolor: "......"
I suppose Marx's reactions to a mask of his soul form depend entirely on where you place Marx on the "more intelligent than he looks" slider. If he's just a silly little guy, then Magolor just made a palette swap mask of him and that's funny!
If he's actually very, very SMART then he would say the same thing as before - on the surface. And then he and Magolor would have a very serious talk about things. In private.
(I, of course, love a Marx who is exceptionally magically inclined. Possibly more attuned to magic than a non-Master Crown empowered Magolor. And he might be able to recognize just from a glance what exactly is "going on" in the Marx Soul mask - certainly from the invocation of "Soul" in the name. Namely, that Magolor saw something HE SHOULDN'T.)
Coo: "...Why am I gray??"
And I agree that Kirby would love the different colored Kirbys and probably made all the Dream Team try them on!
PS: I would love to write/draw/read/see more depictions of the others enjoying Merry Magoland! It's such untapped ground!
--
I did, in fact, post my treatment for my best attempt at coming up with an entry-evel Kirby movie with plenty of easter eggs back in this post! I'm not... 100% satisfied with it, as it's so heavily and clearly an ADAPTATION smooshing several plots into one.
But I did what I could with the idea of trying to cram as many games and major characters into three movies as possible while sticking with Kirby = Friendship as a major theme.
To be honest, I'm more in love with the plot concept I teased for the "second movie," that combines Squeak Squad and Triple Deluxe and RtDL together and pits Kirby and the gang against the Squeaks against Magolor and Taranza against Sectonia against Traitor Magolor in a wacky mystery of mistaken motives!
I think the "thief vs thief" and "royalty vs wannabe royalty" aspects make the characters from that game mesh together a little better than trying to speedrun the Dark Matter Saga + Marx in one movie.
But lets answer some of the rest of this, shall we? ...If you go back enough years, I would have liked to see a Kirby movie done entirely in 2D, but even the old anime series recognized it was easier to keep Kirby on model if he were 3D. So nowadays, it would have to be 3D.
I don't expect it would go for a particular visual style, ala Spiderverse or Puss in Boots. I really think it would look like your average Disney/Pixar/Illumination "clean" CG movie....
But it would be fun if they tried for a more impactful style! Something heavily cell-shaded, perhaps? I love the aesthetics of Epic Yarn and Rainbow Curse, so while a movie might not be the place to get super experimental, I wouldn't mind them trying!
Mario has proven that you don't need to massively twist the characters into the Hollywood "cartoon" model to be successful so I think Kirby could lean more toward a "faithful" depiction.
That said, while -I- personally would do everything possible to work in as many references as possible if I were put in charge, the sad truth is, I never would be, and so I expect a Kirby movie would be a little vanilla in its plot. A "Kirby vs King Dedede only oops, Dark Matter/Nightmare is really behind things!" story?
I wouldn't necessarily expect to see the Animal Friends or Adeleine or Gooey in it. Maybe Marx, given he's popular. (But I don't expect a massively nuanced take on him. ^^; )
...I'd go see it though, either way!
--
Oho!
This is a pretty interesting concept because Elfilin is not really anything resembling a combatant. Then again, Adeleine isn't much of one either...
Because Adeleine takes a lot from the Artist copy ability (and the same can be said for other Dream Friends who call back to certain movesets) I think I would continue along that path and base Elfilin at least partly on the ESP copy ability.
Elfilin would have a few unique attack moves, based on the use of their tail, probably. Little excited, flicky movements! As well as moves based around their ability to make portals/rifts!
They might be able to use weaker versions of Fecto Elfilis's moves including a softer version of Elfilis' Antares spear? (Probably made of light or a phantasmal version, rather than just a miniaturized version of it XD ) And of course, every X number of times you use the move that summons objects from a dimensional rift, a miniature Big Rig falls out and rams into something! XD

How you tempt me...
.
Our setting is a dimly-lit smoky bar. A woman with thick hair covering one of her ruby eyes and with warm, earthy skin leans in, her gold jewelry flashing, her dress sinking past her feet.
“The others call me...'clingy.' Said I don’t know how to let go.”
Her partner, an older gentleman with plenty of blond left in his slicked back hair and a surprisingly attractive squint shuts his pocket watch and smiles a cat-like smile at her.
“Misty, you know my only purpose in life is to grant your wish.”
.
May you all be damned with that visual as I have been!

If I don't say this enough, I have received so much support from this fandom and I'm just so very grateful to all of you.
I hope all of you are receiving the love and care you deserve as well for being such creative, kind, patient, understanding people...!

I told you. It's pretty crazy. Anyway, these are almost every character that has ever interacted with the turtles whether significantly or not. Now that I'm looking at the list, I'm really blown away by how different these interactions are. It's awesome! Seriously, it looks like the the only things that stayed the same was the turtles, Splinter, April, Casey, Shredder, and Karai. The Kraang too but I'll talk about that in a second.
In the Au, Stockman might've gone to the store Stockboy works at and chatted about machines and whatnot. Tang Shen and Gram Gram Karai would also have gotten along pretty well I think (they share the same voice actor too so that's a nice touch). I don't think Draxum would've worked together with Shredder. Saki tends to boss others around and Draxum's pride wouldn't have liked that. It's possible that Shredder tricked Draxum into wearing the armor, but the chance of finally gaining the power necessary to achieve his goal would've been too good to pass up. Saki isn't above using enhancers as a last resort. He would've worn the Dark Armor on his own and become the 'Super' Shredder. One last thing to note is that technically speaking and looking back at Rise canon, the Hamato clan originally was a part of the foot clan. It's weird right?? The split happened when the leader of the Foot clan at the time wore the Dark Armor and went on a rampage. He had done so with the best of intentions but he couldn't control the armor's need to destroy. The man (who happens to also be called Oroku Saki, might name change in this au) had a daughter whose name was Karai. She would go on to create the Hamato clan and seal away the Shredder and herself. That's what happens in this Au at least and aligns closely with canon for the most part. 2012 didn't have much lore when it comes to the Hamato clan, aside from what happened to Tang Shen, so that's why I chose Rise canon as a building point.
Now the Krang is in a weird spot. In canon the 2012 Kraang are brainwashed by Kraang Prime with only a few that managed to break free of his control, calling themselves Utrom. Rise canon sees something similar to this in that the Krang are invaders that can take control of both machines and organic beings. Rise fans also know that Krang are actually the reason for Yokai in the first place through the Empyrean they brought and that they created the Dark Armor. In terms of the Au, the 2012 Kraang only want to free Krang Prime which is Rise Krang. (Brother and Sister Krang are also there but we don't see a lot of love for them so.) There were a few 2012 Kraang that decided to rebel and called themselves the Utrom. The creation of Yokai through the Empyrean and the banishment of Krang Prime and his siblings happened long ago, just like Rise canon.
No one really knows who sealed them away, time had eroded the knowledge away to the point of meaninglessness. There are definitely several legends about it that try to explain what exactly happened but it's never explained. Maybe it was the Utrom trying to atone for the sins of their past, or maybe, just maybe, it was a group of great warriors?

Silly Game Time: Who are some of your favorite fighter characters? And what do you like about them?
They can weild any weapon (swords, spears, axes, clubs, knives, bare hands, etc.); they can be of any class or variety of combatant (ones who rely on strength like brawlers or berserkers, ones who use finesse like martial artists or technique masters, ones who balance defensive and offensive equipment like knghts or samurai, etc.); they can be of any race or species (from fantasy or sci-fi); they can even have access to special powers to improve their combat skills (magical, psychic, technological, superpowers, etc.).
What matters is that one of their primary skills, roles in the story, and traits as a character is physical fighting.
“They can wield any weapon-” META KNIGHT META KNIGHT META KNIGHT-
Look at himmmm. He's so goddamn cool. I want to make a 2 hour video explaining the musical motifs of this guy and how they enhance his character arc.
I'll say to put a bit of a limit on things I won't talk about any characters that I've talked about for previous questions of this type. So that said! Karlach, Shadowheart, and Lae'zel!
Karlach being the most classic answer to this sort of question, of course. In my first playthrough I did not fully understand how integral jumping was to the game, so I never got around to recruiting her, and one of my other ongoing playthroughs she has limited presence since I was playing a character who's kinda…well. Anyway. I've been enjoying her in one of my playthroughs, now that I have her.
Shadowheart is a character who could have worked for a previous question, being a cleric and all, but that post felt a bit crowded in terms of magic-users. I still very much love her. She's snarky and goes from goth to cottagecore if you play a certain route. Her arc is beautiful. I feel very gay about her.
Lae'zel. Lae'zelllll. Again, excellent character arc. The way she slowly starts to carve her sense of self, and becomes a more understanding and empathetic person in the process. Or, in another case, the way she's almost unshakingly devoted. She feels very realistic for the environment she grew up in, and I appreciate that she's also a character who gives a lo of lore for the setting.
More fighter Kirby characters who have my whole heart, let's go:
Great personalities for these folks. Great designs too. I am lifting them up to the sunlight like Simba. A lot of fighters in the series have lots of chivalry and loyalty to them. The Meta-Knights take "will go down with the ship" literally. Knuckle Joe is a daddy's boy and full of energy. Sword Knight and Blade Knight are ride-or-die for Meta Knight, and make a great team. Bandanna Dee had a self-sacrifice so moving it brought them from side character to player 2. The three mage sisters are named after their weapons, and I'm glad they're getting a break after being uh…carved out of their religious circle, even after doing all they could to save their cult leader, formerly their kind of father figure? Kirby lore is wild…
Oh, and some Fire Emblem fighters who have my heart and soul:
I love perfectionists who can kick my ass, what can I say.

Wafers, my phone has been blowing up with hardenshipping this morning /pos
With your recent liking towards Metadedede and now Hardenshipping resurfacing I think the people gotta know: Do you enjoy some good old man yaoi? >:3
hell yeah! I’m glad you noticed and asked me what’s up :3
My gf was playing Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and really loves Team Aqua, and I went on Tumblr to look at Hardenshipping. It got me more into the ship. As for Metadede, I don’t know how that happened or why I developed a recent hyperfixation on Kirby. I’m guessing the music and then it led to lore videos and seeing Kirby Fighter’s 2 and Tumblr go wild. Basically if I see a ship over and over I start liking it sometimes lol, but not all the time. Also I’m a lover of goofy extroverted man who has trauma but needs someone to recognize it since despite all the people who know him, few truly know him AND silent introverted man who is also traumatized but doesn’t let people in easily except for who you would think would be the complete ANTITHESIS to the silent introverted man but it works somehow.
I love some old man yaoi! It’s nice to see old men in love. I lean more towards wholesome and romantic for old man yaoi since I see too many toxic and rough couples lol, it’s nice to switch it up with something soft. With how few queer stories there are compared to how many straight stories there are, and in many queer stories it focuses on young queer people in love, it can leave the impression that there’s no future for old queer people; that queer people are doomed to die young. Old man yaoi and old woman yuri are nice ways to counteract the narrative that queer people don’t get to live long. And even so, not realizing one is queer when young shouldn’t doom someone that they can’t find love if they want it. There’s many people who don’t realize they’re queer until late in life and that’s okay. Plus if one doesn’t find the love of their life young, they can still have just as fulfilling a relationship when older or old. It’s reassuring to know that no matter the baggage, how many ex’s you have, or how many kids you have, you can still find love but with someone who will love you back. You’ve let go of the restricting life of heteronormativity to find a life that you build yourself. It’s reassuring to know that no matter how painful or restrictive your childhood was, it’s not the end of you. Your past doesn’t define you. It may define the parameters of what you know or start with, but you can change for the better. Your youth gives you a blueprint but you can try to break free and become the person you wanted to be rather than what the people who hurt you said you are. No matter how many times it takes to learn, no matter how many fuck ups you do (excluding rape, murder, pedo, racism, etc), you will still be loved and find love. Just because your childhood or youth or midlife wasn’t the best doesn’t mean your aging years and near end of life won’t be the worst.
The short answer is that I love old man yaoi :3
#I love old man yaoi#A good question lead to a deep analysis of life and aging#And letting go of the idea that youth are the best years of your life#Don’t get me wrong there’s many things I miss about my childhood#And it’s good to be wise when younf#But society treats youth like it’s the only time that matters#That if you’re not young anymore you don’t matter#And I don’t like that#I think life can change for anyone#And I myself need reminders that now isn’t forever and mistakes aren’t the end of the world#Nobody knows everything when they’re younag#And old people can still learn

okay I’ve been inspired, time to list all my versions of botw/totk/aoc link lets go
Wild (He/They): Nonbinary, LU Wild adjacent, generally who I write whenever I write for LU, kind of his own thing bc I feel as though I tend to stray when it comes to lu characterization to fit my own wants. Has the most trouble with memories and their past, has the least control over his emotions. Things like sorrow and anger hit really hard for them and they have more trouble regulating it. Still silly and GNC though, just not as confident about their gender presentation yet.
Sage (They/She): Genderfluid, HSFR botw/totk Link, really leaning into the whole death/rebirth/reincarnation thing with this one, accidentally picks up a spooky vibe because they have a skeleton horse and a big comfort cloak and is extremely good at making potions. This whole vibe what I’m leaning into for Another Second Chance, even though in that one the botw Link is still called Wild lol.
Guardian (He/Him): Too anxious to think about gender rn but is a aroace queen. HSFR AoC Link, half sheikah and it is important to his story. His life is kinda dictated by his dedication to the throne by being descended from a long line of royal knights and sheikah who have vowed to serve the blood of the goddess. Also he’s betrothed to his Zelda and on his way to becoming King/Prince Consort.
Aryll (She/Her): Cis woman (but with complicated gender feelings as she was discouraged from being feminine for a long time and has trouble feeling valued while enjoying typically feminine things, you know the vibe) My Fem!Wild/ Link AU, is the most likely to commit regicide. Had an easier time recovering memories during botw bc of her large amount of shared moments with Zelda.
Linkle (She/Her): Trans woman Link au, has a bit of an egg cracking moment when she was getting into gerudo town, don’t have much for this one, it might be where I put all my Link being close to the Gerudo hcs. Like, after sealing the calamity, she and Zelda go to live in Gerudo Town instead of Hateno and they’re real close buddies with Riju and Linkle goes to the nearby great fairy to get her gender magically transed. idk i love the gerudo and think they deserve better. (also her name could be changed i kinda made this one on a whim...)
Spirit Sage (They/Them): Fem leaning enby, totk role swap au where Link gets sent back with the spirit stone instead of Zelda, they lost their arm but the stone lets them summon a ghost version that they have to learn how to control (a feature also seen with HSFR Sage), trained under Mineru and tries to assasinate Ganondorf a few times.
Time Sage (They/He): Masc leaning enby, pre-calamity was a trans man but then their gender got pickled for a century and their ideas on gender changed a little. They lose their arm but don’t get a replacement. The secret stone they had with them amplifies their time manipulation abilities (bullet time/ sitting by the fire, that kind of thing) They have to learn to fight just as will with their left side and not wield any sort of shield. The story is closer to the canon version than the Sage of Spirit version of the au.
Gladiator (He/Him): trans man, ssbu Link, pulled from his quest pretty soon after botw. Older brother/babysitter to Young Link (MM) and Toon Link (WW), Eyes have been opened to the multiverse and he’s kinda just vibing with being kind of immortal and meeting the strangest people. ssb lore is wacky so he’s at least allies with all of the other characters, including ganondorf at in the end. Has the least amount of fashion sense and cooking ability but at least he has little brothers and is buds with Kirby.
#honestly i could probably come up with more#i have a lot of ideas for this guy and not all of them mix together super well and it would be fixed by just adding it to a different au#botw#totk#totk spoilers#links meeting au#links meet au#botw links meeting au#idk how to tag this it's all just crack#breath of the wild#zelda au#linkverse#botw linkverse#they're trying to obtain a full gender spectrum and i don't think they're doing too badly

PEN!!!!
oopsie didnt notice this, allergies want me dead
allow me to talk about my girls, the absolutes, since i dont do that enough even though i love them
(in reference to this post)
AUGH, my girls!!!!!! The four lovely little non-ladies that i accidentally made a magical girl group <3
There is so much wild lore behind these kiddos, but unfortunately, I can’t talk about all that shit because SO MANY SPOILERS FOR SOUL JOURNEY.
Ahem. Lemme actually talk about them now.
These four — Inifya, Mirror Inifya (Mira/Shini), Pura, and Nycto Tolaris — are a group of teenage Astrals with great powers that they rarely use outside of training. Instead of specifically following their destiny to become the next Four Heroes of Yore, they decide to create a band they call The Absolutes, because Void and Gala always refer to them as The Absolute Heroes. Gala is a massive history geek, and he knows quite a bit about the original Four Heroes of Yore, and the girls remind him of them quite a bit. Void themself says that they are the originals reborn, which they very well may be, seeing Pura’s absolutely insane abilities as a Void-Born Astral. (That means she was created in the Void, AKA Nebulis’ homeland/realm/test area, not that she was created by Void. Those are Galactics.)
They’re still much too young to begin their duties as Star Warriors, Ini, Mira, and Pura being 15 and Nycto being 13, and the first few are still in their training stages (Nycto is a fast learner — striking reflection of her… father? Of Elfilis. I guess they’d be the dad, since Gen carried her, or something like that. Genetics are fucking weird, especially when it comes to Astrals), so they haven’t been officially titled as Holy Knights yet, but they will be eventually.
Now it’s time to talk about them as separate characters!
First of, Ini. She's the future daughter of Kirby, and her name is kind of obviously based on the word infinity, and the concept of naming her ‘infinity’ comes from— actually, I can’t say that, that’s afterstory stuff. Just know her name has some deeper connections past being based on the word ‘infinity’.
Anyway, they’re the future Warrior of Soul. When they come of age and are officially knighted, they’ll be titled Absolute Infinity Hero, Soul Knight Inifya. Here’s an excerpt from their section of a little “history book” about the Four Heroes i wrote a while back:
(By the way, Lord Yk is Nebulis, aka the son-daughter-child of Galactica, who is THE God, but nobody in-multiverse really knows about Them and think Nebs is THE God. Which isn’t necessarily wrong, I guess)
As I said before, these girls have SO many K:SJ spoilers attached to them. That’s what makes them so fun to talk about though, I get to be mysterious and vague and tease things and put foreshadowing everywhere.
ANYWAY. The censored stuff is all regarding their Big Crazy Ability that I can’t mention bc they inherited it from Kirby, who uses it in the climax of the fic that I might not even finish. All you gotta know is it’s incredibly strong, and absolutely terrifying. Which makes it awesome. I wish I could talk about it, but it’s existence is a major plot point, so I can’t. Major L for me.
Next is Mira! She’s the future daughter of Shadow Kirby, and is younger than her main-universe counterpart by about 10 minutes, since Void helped with the creation of the two, building their bodies and Souls from scratch. Gotta love being a creator entity, being able to do shit like that.
She’s got the same name origins as Ini, and the same abilities as them, but she prefers using her Dream magic over her Soul magic, and she’s the future Warrior of Dreams. When they’re older and knighted, they’ll be titled Absolute Dreamscape Hero, Mare Knight Shini (or Mare Knight Mira). Here’s an excerpt from her section in the same “history book”:
(The Eterna Hero is Galacta’s predecessor, as in he was supposed to be a recreation of her. She was also capable of using this Big Crazy Ability that I can’t name bc spoilers. She’s shown off more in two oneshots I made titled MERCY, which is about her death, and Once So Great, which is from her mourning friend’s point of view 17 million years later. Read them if you like!)
The censored stuff here is also regarding the Big Crazy Ability. I’ve just now decided that I’m going to make a google doc with everything about K:SJ like I’m doing with my hollow knight AUs so I can get all this information out of me and have a reference for if I ever keep working on the fic.
Ok Pura time!!!!! She’s the future Warrior of Heart, and she was created by Nebulis from excess positive emotions, and since she doesn’t have any biological parents, she was taken in by Elfilis and Fiktra and raised as their eldest daughter. Because she’s a Void-born Heart Matter Astral, she is incredibly powerful and very likely the only one of her kind, so she has nobody to properly train her to use her abilities. The only two Heart Matter Astrals around who can train her are Galacta and Kirby, but they’re both Heart-Soul hybrids, Kirby’s busy being the only active Star Warrior in Gamble Galaxy, and Gala is nowhere near as powerful as her, so she’s kinda stuck when it comes to abilities only she has.
When she’s knighted she’ll get the title of Absolute Heartbeat Hero, Halo Knight Pura. Because of her Heart-matter origins, she’s a very kind and compassionate person, and it takes a lot to piss her off. If you manage to make her mad, you’ve dun fucked up and I suggest you run. Aside from those very incredibly rare moments, she’s the sweetest kid in the universe. A very forgive-and-forget type person, with almost no exceptions.
As usual here’s an excerpt from the fake history book:
Wow, nothing needed to be censored this time! Incredible!
I’m currently working on redesigning her, and the base design is almost done!! Yey :)
FINALLY. We have Nycto Tolaris, the youngest of the four. She’s the future biological daughter of Elfilis and Genesis Fiktra, and the future Warrior of Dark, and she’s the most well-trained out of all the girls. She already knows all known techniques of Dark Matter combat, and has begun doing her own stuff, combining her Dream magic with her Dark magic to create incredibly powerful and sometimes mind-breaking attacks. Trust me, you don’t want to get caught in one of her storms. You will die, or lose your mind in the best-case scenario. Her battle skills are insane.
Once she's grown and knighted, she'll gain the title Absolute Shadow Hero, Hollow Knight Nycto Tolaris. Yes, that is a hollow knight reference. Currently, with her quick learning and her already knowing what she’s doing, she’s the most combat efficient of the Absolutes, and also the most terrifying. Dark Matter and Dream Matter combined is fucking crazy when you know how to use the magic. Inducing night terrors, causing hallucinations, breaking your mind and essentially exploding your brain without even touching you — Dark-Dream Matter Astrals are incredibly powerful and are absolutely fucking horrifying to fight. I suggest avoiding negative confrontation with Nycto at all costs.
Something something history book excerpt:
Aaand that’s all of them! Damn this took a while to write. I’m gonna return to my hollow knight insanity now, and eat my ice cream. French vanilla good. Yummy

Alright, I know April’s almost over but as it is still Autism Acceptance Month, I wanted to talk a little about it. Just wanted to share what being autistic is like for me and some of my special interests.
I was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD when I was 8 years old. Back then, I was technically diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome but that was merged into ASD in 2011 so I’ll just refer to it as ASD. Anyway, I didn’t really know what that meant until I was seventeen and actually did some research. Learning that a bunch of my behaviors and certain feelings I had were actually because I was autistic was…. I don’t know, relieving? Things started to make more sense. Before this point, all I knew was that I didn’t understand social cues and I was very specific about what I liked and disliked. It did not help that I was also on ADHD medication that exacerbated the negative parts of autism. Since that day, I’ve learned so much more about myself and I learn new things about autism everyday. I’m not angry or upset that I’m autistic. I was (and still kinda am) mad at the people who didn’t explain it to me properly when I was younger but that’s beside the point. I’ve learned to accept it and I’m a lot happier because of it. I don’t need people to be aware of me. I just need people to accept me.
Okay, that was a lot. Hmm. Anyway, SPECIAL INTERESTS, LET’S GO!!!! 😃
My primary special interests are manga, anime, and video games. And within those special interests are even MORE special interests. For example, some of the manga I have a huge interest in include Bleach, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist and Jujutsu Kaisen. There’s a lot more but there are too many list. On the flip side, the anime I like differs slightly. I don’t always like anime adaptations of manga I like. For example, I really don’t care for either the Bleach or One Piece adaptations (Bleach TYBW is the exception). There are certain scenes from each that I really enjoy watching and they both have great soundtracks and great voice acting in both the original Japanese and the english dubs, but weird choices that differ from the source material and huge pacing issues make them hard for me to watch. On the other hand, there are certain adaptations that I prefer to the source material, such as Demon Slayer or Mob Psycho 100. These two in particular take the original material and enhance it greatly. What’s more, there are certain series where I really like both the original manga and the anime (Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen to name a couple). Also, I love original anime, like Space Dandy, Oddtaxi, Gurren Lagaan, Appare Ranman, and Vivy: Flourite Eyes Song. It’s really cool to see original content in a medium that is primarily adaptations.
Starting a new paragraph for video games. This might be my big special interest. RPGs, Metroidvanias, platformers, action games, puzzle games, party games, etc. I really love video games. Favorite series include but are not limited too: Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Pokémon, and Xenoblade Chronicles. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a big Nintendo person. If I had to pick a genre, I’d say RPGs are my favorite, whether they are turned based or action oriented. My top three favorite games of all time are Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Kingdom Hearts II. Favorite Pokémon generation is three though Scarlet is my current favorite game. I could go on about how I love different combat and level up systems in different games, how I love that the sidequests in the Xenoblade games add to the worldbuilding and give them so much depth, how I love watching videos analyzing background lore in games like Hollow Knight or Breath of the Wild or videos going into detail about how dark series like Kirby or Splatoon are, or how even though the story is insanely stupid I adore Kingdom Hearts for how sincere it is. But I feel like this has gone a bit longer than I originally intended.
Anyway, a couple of notes really quick about Autism Acceptance Month and autism in general:
Don’t support Autism Speaks. They are a hate group focused on trying to “cure” autism.
Don’t use the puzzle piece when talking about autism. It is ableist. Use either the gold infinity symbol for autism or the rainbow infinity symbol for neurodiversity.
Vaccinations don’t cause autism. Whoever came up with that can burn in hell.
I think that’s everything. If whoever is reading this is autistic, I hope you had a great Autism Acceptance Month.
#autism#autism spectrum disorder#autism acceptence month#special interest#anime#manga#video games#i feel like i lost the plot when i was talking about my special interests#oh well#also it took me WAY too long to figure out how to put that “keep reading” cut in#i started typing this on my phone and had to switch to my computer

1. I tend to go with Callibri. It's just... the easiest on my eyes for some reason.
2. I could, but man would I not wanna. I used to write by hand in high school but uh, wrist pain nowadays says absolutely not. It'd be slow going but I could make myself do it.
4. It isn't English but the word for Dragon in Finnish drives me up the goddamn wall. Lohikäärme is LITERALLY just 'Salmon' and 'Snake' shoved together, makes me crazy. Every other Nordic language's word for dragon looks relatively normal, Finnish just has to be a little weirdo about it. And that shit just keeps going for the whole language.
9. Kinda, yeah. I don't really think there's one clear and straightforward answer to what happens when a person dies, though certain religions would have you believe otherwise. A soul sticking around after they pass? Yeah, could be plausible.
13. Imagery isn't the easiest thing for me but I am getting better at it all the time. Emotion and dialogue are very easy though, once I get in a character's head.
19. I started way back in 2012-ish, maybe super early 2013, when I was around 16. I started with fanfiction for the Invader Zim fandom, eventually moved to Homestuck, Hetalia and Undertale (yes I was extremely cringe, I freely admit this, and often say that I would like to go back and hit my teenaged self with a fish) and then... kinda took a few years hiatus. Didn't really write anything until 2021 when I was making things for my long running D&D game. As I kept getting further into the game I just... kept writing. Eventually got introduced to a TTRPG server that has since become my home, and I RP with my characters there a lot. It's really helped me nail down both characterization and imagery. Now, I'm still writing fan fiction (for different fandoms) but I've also got this whole world I made myself and I'm adding to it all the time, and I have characters I've thrown years of work into and I couldn't be happier to have made something that is wholly mine.
21. No, I don't think so. Not forever anyway. I take breaks, I walk away from the desk for awhile, but I can't leave it forever. It brings me joy to build and create, and to lay that down would worsen my quality of life. I write for the sheer joy of it, and for sharing my work with others, why would I deprive myself of that?
24. Depends on what I'm writing. If I'm writing something relating to my setting's cosmology then I dive into my astrophysics notes which I love doing because, shocking nobody, I'm a big space dweeb. Same can be said if I'm writing for my setting's fae wild, that's where all my radiation notes get used. But if I'm just writing a comfy slice-of-life piece or something similar? Chill music, a cup of tea, and I go where the vibes take me.
29. Music, video games, and my friends' work are the biggest inspirations I have. I've got entire playlists for specific characters that I put on when I need to get in their heads, and watching my friends write things gives me ideas because they have some incredible (horrifying at times) ideas. When the well runs dry, I stop. I take a break and consume more writing and media to recharge the inspiration batteries.
32. Oh yeah big time. That one Terry Pratchet quote never leaves my head and it actively influences how I write certain characters.
"All witches are selfish, the Queen had said. But Tiffany’s Third Thoughts said: Then turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours! Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect them! Save them! Bring them into the sheepfold! Walk the gale for them! Keep away the wolf! My dreams! My brother! My family! My land! My world! How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine!
I have a duty!"
33. I draw too! I've drawn some of my characters before, but I haven't gotten to the point where I draw specific scenes from my stories yet. Maybe someday.
36. I know... a lot. Astrophysics and astronomy, Kirby lore (though I only pull inspiration from it since... it'd be silly and also illegal to straight rip Kirby lore into my stuff), radiation and nuclear technology to a certain degree, to name a few things.... my knowledge is quite niche and I accept this.
Weird Questions for Writers (because writers are weird)
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
14. Do you lend your books to people? Are people scared to borrow books from you? Do you know exactly where all your “lost” books are and which specific friend from school you haven’t seen in twelve years still possesses them? Will you ever get them back?
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
20. If a witch offered you the choice between eternal happiness with your one true love and the ability to finally finish, perfect, and publish your dearest, darlingest, most precious WIP in exactly the way you've always imagined it — which would you choose? You can’t have both sorry, life’s a bitch
21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?
27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?
28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?
29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?
30. Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?
31. Write a short love letter to your readers.
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?
34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:
35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice...what do you Know?
37. If you were to be remembered only by the words you’ve put on the page, what would future historians think of you?
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
40. Please share a poem with me, I need it.

It's... Kind of crazy how lore heavy the Kirby series is. Remember when it was just about a little puffball getting food back from a penguin?
Oops, I almost forgot about this one!
As an OG fan from the very beginning... I never would have guessed my favorite game where you play a round puffball beating up other vaguely puffy and non-puffy things and like... dancing mushrooms and sentient brooms with hats would ever turn out this way!
...My favorite level in the original was Float Islands because I just loved the idea of being on a tropical beach. Even though as soon as you enter the caves, it became dark (ish) and full of scary Kabu! Oh, and Little Dess could NOT avoid those exploding coconuts! So even though I liked it, I was awful at it...
My favorite boss was Lololo and Lalala because we had rented "Lolo's Adventure" once on the NES (but never beat it) and I was like "!!! I know these two, omigosh omigosh omigosh!"
Also, I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I always thought King Dedede was a FROG! I mean, he had a big mouth and he jumped, so? I don't know if Little Dess ever read the instruction manual, come to think of it. And I had NO idea about challenge mode. Not that I think I could have handled it at my skill level.
I loved how interesting and new and fantastical everything was! Grumpy trees and clouds that spat out little one-eyed monsters at you! (I always had a fondness for the Waddle Doos. They looked more "expressive" to me than the original Waddle Dees and my own visual impairment made them more sympathetic to me.)
After that... Kirby's Adventure just felt like another Kirby game to me? I think the "Dedede Twist" actually carries a bit more weight now than it seemed to at the time. Like Kirby, I didn't hold a grudge against Dedede so if he was actually the good guy, well, that was cool! And while Super Star's last boss was fairly traumatizing to me (and now my favorite character for some reason...) I still didn't get this big LORE~ feeling from it.
Now, I didn't beat Dream Land 3 at the time. Just got a few stages in and then put it down. I think I always thought the last boss with Zero was either one of those hoax-y internet rumors or someone's gory sprite edit that got popular! Hahahaha!
And we didn't have an N64 - had to borrow one from a friend - but he had no interest in owning Kirby so though I often saw Crystal Shards for rent in Blockbuster (lol) it never lined up with the times we were borrowing this guy's N64. (I sure played the heck out of Mischief Makers though. We all loved that game!)
I also missed Return to Dream Land the first time around (I saw it in shops but I was moving away from console games) so the first time I was cognizently like "...Wait. Was Kirby always this way?" was playing Triple Deluxe. After finishing it, I began to re-examine "Kirby" as I had known it. Little did I know it would get even more wild from there!
...So yes. I remember! XD
