Today is the 1 year anniversary of Mr. Puzzles’ physical debut (and WOTFI 2023)
Tumblr media
It’s crazy how much Mr. Puzzles has shaped the SMG4 channel. I can’t wait to see more of this character, especially with Brendan Blaber’s amazing voice acting
As promised, this is the fanart of the design we came up with on the livestream on Saturday, the first one is what I drew and the second one is the digital drawing. A speed draw will be uploaded on my channel at 4 PM EST

Also happy birthday to @valentinbelleyh505

It's so hard writing a Kion x Rani fic that's post-canon because it's a living bloody struggle to pick between "Kion and Rani's relationship falls apart because they had rushed into marriage at too young of an age and both of them grow from the experience and move on whilst learning that a first relationship may not always be your best and that's okay" & "Kion and Rani fall out of love because they rushed into marriage at too young of an age and take a reasonable amount of time apart before acknowledging that they got married too quickly and decide to make a slow and steady pace to rebuild their bond and make a healthier connection to one another and realize that there's more to love than at first sight and that some relationships are worth fighting for."

so like all the rest of y'all i fucking hate the cgi lion king remakes, and i didnt go see mufasa but i did read the wikipedia description and a) it's literally incompatible with the original movie and extended lore [tell me how mufasa's talking about great kings of the past and zazu's talking about traditions "going back generations" if mufasa is the first king of pride rock???] but most importantly, b) as i only half-jokingly predicted, kion is fucking canon to the CGIverse and the story is told to kiara probably to scare her into being a good sibling or someshit
but that brings up two very important questions
did they plan on making the lion king 2 and having kion be there. cause that would be funny but theres no fucking way they'll actually do that esp since mufasa is underperforming
if mufasa was the first king of pride rock and scar was never in the lion guard. but kion exists in this universe. does this mean that kion's gonna be the first lion guard member. and followup question, does that mean that this bitch is gonna get superpowers and magic tattoos and nobody is going to know what the fuck is going on because that is a lion king comedy i would actually watch
just like. "dad i roared and leveled an entire field" "hmm. fucked up." why are these people making shitty prequels when they could be making this

[Image Description: The SixFanarts challenge. The first is Whiteout from WOF, a Night/IceWing hybrid who is a dark grey-blue with a lighter belly. She has ice blue freckles throughout and caribous like horns. The second panel is Cera the triceratops from The Land Before Time. She is a peach color and is making a snarky face. The third panel is the villain The Nowhere King from Centaurworld. The design is a deer skull with glowing neon green eyes sitting in a bunch of dark goo. The fourth panel shows Randall from Monsters Inc. He is clinging to the box and grimacing in disgust. The fifth panel has Kion from the Lion Guard. He has yellow fur and a red mullet-esque mane. His left eye is scared and pale blue, indicating vision loss. The sixth and final panel contains Frostpaw from Warrior cats. She is a pale grey cat with a tipped left ear and human-made scar across her neck. Her eyes are widened in horror./End]
Wooooof, I finally finished this. Thanks to @bi-pan-whiteout for suggesting Whiteout!! I just chose the other 5. It was fun to draw non-dragons for a hot second. But man oh man do I need to practice lion king characters and cats
Whiteout: I tried a more traditional coloring scheme for her. I think I might still like piebald Whiteout. But I have like 15 designs for her in my brain at all times. She's just got so much potential!! Love her obviously.
Cera: Land Before Time is a big nostalgia trip for me. I gave Cera actual triceratops horns because it always bothered me she didn't have the eye horns. She also should have scars on her because my girl is ready to throw hands at all times.
The Nowhere King: Oh man Centaurworld was an absolute blast start to finish. This guy was my personal favorite part. His story is tragic, but they let him continue being evil. Such a wicked design too. Goop with a skull.
Randall: Randall is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar villains. Right up there with Scar and Ursulla and Hades. I just like that he's a conniving little guy. And his colors and design are just perfect.
Kion: So I know some Lion King fans really don't like the Lion Guard show. I don't mind it. The Lion King is my second favorite movie of all time, and Simba's Pride is my favorite direct to video Disney sequel. I enjoyed the show, even though I was waaaay older than the target audience. Especially the third season when they aged things up a bit. I imagine that Kion lost vision in his left eye after the injury. I also love his stupid little hairstyle and I doubled down.
Frostpaw: The horrors persist but so does she! She is one of my favorite characters in WC from the recent books. Such a cute little anxious lass. Trying her best. Interested to see how things go in Star.

Sisi Ni Sawa 🦁✨
My sort of annual drawing of them + some extras!!
Of course in the hype of arcane my brain decided to make some lion king art. I swear I had these in my drafts for two months but couldn’t finish em because of art block. Anyways, my inspo is going haywire right now because of arcane finale, enjoy whatever these are for now 😔🫶

Lion Guard Season 4 = Impossible
I see a lot of people in denial about the fate of the TLG and claiming that there is still possibility for a 4th season [and their source is always an outdated article using stolen fanart/fan-edits], or begging and wailing Ford Riley and/or the Disney company to make a 4th season of the Lion Guard:
Let me just say, for the record, that regardless of your own thoughts on S3, it's important to be aware of the fact that there is no Season 4. There never was a Season 4 that was going to be made, and there never will be a Season 4. The show was planned to have 3 seasons from Day 1 and the show wrapped up animation half a year before the final season aired, and Ford Riley had ended his contract with Disney when Season 3 was finished. The show was pulled from the air not even a year after the series finale premiered on television [this was likely because all of S3 had been streamed online at this point, so people didn't bother to watch the episode on television so they had no trouble pulling it from the air almost a year later, just a thought of mine].
All of that should be clear evidence that it's game over for The Lion Guard, it always has been. But watch as some people reach at straws refusing to believe that the show is over, or trying to spread false hope in the event that the show would return. This discourse had actually gotten so bad that the entire Lion-Guard wiki was locked from editing because of how many people had pushed the narrative that it was a 50/50 case when if you do a bit of research, it's clear that people are just lying to themselves. The worst of it is people begging and harassing Ford Riley to make a 4th season in which Kion cheats on Rani with Fuli or Jasiri or whoever and has a teen-marriage with them which... if you ship them I have no problem with but..... why [specifying, why would you beg someone to make another season of their show, ignoring them saying over and over again how it is not in their power to do so, just so you can have your main characters become homewreckers, I just... can't rn].
Also the Lion Guard had somewhat of a wrap-up like ending. Regardless of how you feel, it did feel like it was the end of a story and it ended on a strong note [critically and narratively speaking]. There's no need for a 4th season. A new series picking up where TLG left, that's more possible, but Disney doesn't do spin-offs of shows which are spin-offs, [and according to Ford Riley, Disney liked how the show ended so there's nearly a 0% chance that we'll see any post-TLG content from the mouse].
So... your favorite show has ended. Despite how you feel, you want to see more of it and experience more of these characters you've come to know and love, whilst also changing some things that you didn't like. But it's clear that the show will not continue. The obvious solution? Fanfiction: It's there, and it'll solve all of your problems! Available literally every second of every single day of your freakin' life!

TLG: Final 10 Episodes Sketch Dump
September 2nd once again fell on a Labor Day, like it once did when the final 10 episodes of TLG dropped on WatchTLG (due to its early release on the old DisneyNOW app). The alignment of the exact day, month, and holiday five years later put me in the spirit to sketch away as I rewatched these episodes.
I was there when the countdown on the WatchTLG site had about an hour left. I hadn't seen a full episode of TLG until that point because I at the time thought I wouldn't be into it. I saw the synopses for these episodes leaked somewhere online and was doubtful yet VERY hopeful that the one with Vitani's Lion Guard was going to be a real episode simply because I wanted to see her in new content, regardless of my familiarity with the show.
When I binge-watched these final episodes with a friend, my relationship with the show improved as I went to watch the rest of the show over the next few months. I was so grateful to see so much content and worldbuilding for the TLK universe
Sketch descriptions under the cut:
1. Friends to the End
I've said this before in a review of this episode, but whether or not the writers intended this, their portrayal of irritability brought on by an anxiety attack is astounding. Kion's anxiety is piled up more and more when he's in a hurry to find a cure at the Tree of Life, Bunga repeatedly tells him he's becoming like Scar, and the rest of the group just "blind leading the blind"-in their journey SO badly because they're a bunch of unsupervised freshman-aged kids who are in their "Well I wouldn't go THAT far" or "Can I be the devil's advocate" phase.
This situation of fearing becoming like a shitty family member and being told you are by people when you're already in a vulnerable state is just SO vile and unfortunately so real. I found myself relating hard to this episode due to Kion's valid af anger in this episode, which is why I had to draw Kion claiming his "Don't you just wanna go apeshit??" era.
Kion is basically me throughout this episode and the entire first half of Season 3. It is SO HARD to get through this season sometimes when these same couple of lines keep coming at least once per episode. As soon as I hear Fuli saying "Uhh... Kion?" or "KION!!" I know exactly what's coming.
2. The Tree of Life:
Since we never get to see Sahasi and Ananda's color palettes they had in life, I took what I could make out from their spirit forms as well as some creative liberties, and came up with what they may have looked like on Earth.
Ananda is where Baliyo gets his freckles and dull, dark pelt, and where Rani gets her purple pupils, red nose, and dark tail. Sahasi is where Rani gets her richer pelt and where Baliyo gets his nose gradient, multicolored mane, and lighter tail color.
Fun Fact: According to some email responses from a member of the team who worked on TLG, they said that Sahasi was meant to be Janna's son, which for me, puts an end to a debate I had in my head where I was stuck between either him or Ananda being Janna's child: On one hand, I liked the idea of Sahasi and Surak being the foils of Mufasa and Scar, but also liked the idea of Ananda as Janna's daughter and heir since they looked so alike, as well as it solidifying the martriarchy headcanon I have for the Night Pride. Though the team member didn't straight-up provide Sahasi's relation to Janna and Surak as an absolute fact, rather it was simply the gist they got from the creation of Sahasi's character, it's an answer from a team member at all, which I can absolutely settle with. I decided to give him a similar fur color to Surak because of that.
3. The River of Patience:
I just HAD to doodle eepy Kion. It's like the one part of this episode that sticks with me outside the wholesome therapy dynamics and Kion heroically holding the flower between his teeth. This is basically him but if he fully succumbed to falling asleep waiting for the log.
4. Little Old Ginterbong:
Can I just say that I fucking LOVE Mama Binturong's character?? She's absolutely insane and constantly looks like an addict that needs her fix. She makes me nostalgic for some reason, and I think it's gotta do with her Mama Gunda vibes (which is odd because I wasn't even that young when I saw Tarzan II). I had to draw her doing the thing lol
5. Poa the Destroyer:
All I could think about throughout this episode besides the rare Evil Beshte is how insufferable Pinguino is. I mean it in kind of a good way, his personality is so ridiculous that he's made me laugh a few times.
6. Long Live the Queen:
Surprisingly, the sketch regarding this episode is probably the least expected subject matter out of anything I could've put here: An idea that's been forming in my head for a bit now was the idea of Bunga and Binga continuing the fostering/babysitting business of Bunga's "uncles". Bunga is shown to be a natural with young animals in a few episodes, and it continues in the subplot of this episode where he watches over Varya's cubs.
7. The Lake of Reflection:
The one thing that viscerally stuck with me in this episode was the unbelievably cute design they gave bby Cheezi. Had to sketch him.
8. Triumph of the Roar:
Obligatory Askari sketch because I actually love drawing him and making headcanons of his era. Looking back... he kinda looks like he's looking down at the events of the bottom drawing in slight disappointment.
9. Journey to the Pride Lands:
Drew Azaad (for what I think might be the first time) with the only thing he seemed to be doing throughout this episode -- taking any opportunity he can to comment about how much better cheetahs are at basically everything. He's fun to draw and I'd like to do more art of him one day.
10. Return to the Pride Lands
This is a sketch of what I deadass thought was gonna happen during this scene the first time I saw this episode lmao. At the time, the previous two episodes were fresh on my mind so I thought Kion was once again going to spam his tornado ability, but with Vitani as his subject for his demonstration. She already knew so little of the Roar as it was, given her absence throughout most of TLG's storyline, but could you imagine what she must've been thinking seeing how much Kion's Roar evolved?
