I am so glad the new kdramas are bringing back the specific brand of loser men. You know which brand I'm talking about. The Ahn "min min" Minhyuk brand of loser men and I'm loving it. The "I worship this goddess and I'm so in love with her and I can't believe I get to love her. Oh my gods I love her so much" brand of loser men. And we're being fed so well with lovely runner, love next door, no gain no love, my demon, Cinderella at 2am, Hierarchy, Midnight Romance in Hagwon, doctor slump, Queen of tears, welcome to samdal-ri and even good partner (yes it's one sided but the dedication and yuri's couple too).
We need more fictional loser men who worship women to satiate our eldest independent daughter desires.

I like to add the photos where it just focuses on what he's done, doing or holding because - it's something he's done worthy enough to be photographed, and it's still about him - it still has him in it.
not many people think it's important, but I do <3

Kim seo-wan x reader pt 2
Sorry for taking so long I fear my hyperfixation is dwindling💔
Pt 1
"Seo-wan?" your voice carries a hoarseness of disbelief that has his eyes snapping up to meet yours.
"[Name]...?"
"Seo! I can't believe you're...!" As you descend the few extra steps to come face to face with him your smile falters. He looks tired. Exhausted. Like it was too much to carry the weight on his bones. Your dimming excitement was clear and he couldn't bear to see it. It was the same face his parents made when they came to pick him up. Happy, relieved, and yet so afraid. Nervous that anything could send him back that downward spiral. He doesn't want to worry them, but what could he expect?
Looking at you felt like a dream, after so many months at the hospital it was like he was relearning the structure of your face. You look more tired too, but in the way it's shown you've matured, experienced new things. Effectively using the time he'd been away, away for far too long. His former mediator, his goal, you were everything he admired and more, so much it hurt to be near you and watch you bloom. Though it was all he wished. It just would've been better if he could stand beside you on that pedestal.
It was like you had everything figured out. You understood your own balance, able to handle change when exams didn't go your way and still were able to find stable footing. And from the sound of it from neighbours, still found a respectable job all in an entirely new country. You were unreal to him. Everything he wanted and wanted to be, but he just couldn't.
"[Name]." He mutters awkwardly pushing up his glasses in that familiar habit you adored.
He hadn't expected to be caught on the way up, he had told himself after Nurse couldn't go for tea if nothing else intervenes he's just do it. But of course you were there, as respectable and calming as you always were.
"It's been a little bit, hasn't it?" he says, forcing a smile you saw through immediately.
He knew his parents had told most people he went across the county to try studying somewhere else for the upcoming exam. Though it didn't matter whatever lie was fabricated as he still failed. Nodding lightly and accepting the condolences of his neighbours for another one of his many losses. He couldn't bear it.
But looking at you now that didn't seem like the story you were told, staring at him like he had come back to life a completely new person. Which was true in its own way, he felt a hollow copy of the person he was before.
"It has... want to come in for tea?"
And he felt himself gravitating towards your prescence, like he always had.
-
Inside your apartment you immediately knew something was off. You'd like to sum it to the classes in physcolgy and mental health you took a few years ago but the signs of it would pain you to even try to ignore. Fatigue was written all over his expression, the Seo-wan that was so stubborn about his goals seemed to be disappearing right in front of you. And you didn't even want to begin to think about why he's so many floors above his if not to visit anyone.
"My mum told you the truth I'm guessing?" your grip on the pot of tea stiffens but you eventually nod to which he sighs shakily, running his hands over his face like it'd get rid of the sour expression on his face.
He hated how he felt ashamed you knew, he hated how badly this has affected him despite his best efforts to go back to a normal life. He wanted to forget it all. Even now, the normal small acts of kindness you always gave him now felt out of sympathy as you handed him a cup of his favourite tea.
"How've you been holding up? You're not studying too hard right?
You really wanted to avoid bombarding him with questions but you couldn't help it. You sat side my side on your couch, you didn't have one of those pretty small tables with cushions his mother had so it was good enough.
He laughed bitterly at your words, he cradled the cup in his hands, despite the sweet aroma and warmth of his favourite tea surrounding his senses he couldn't bring himself to take a sip.
"I guess I have. No surprise I failed these exams too, after all that time I wasted..." Your grip on your own cup visibly tenses at his words, fully shocked he even took the exam in the first place, he had such a small time to prepare how could he expect to get a good result.
"You shouldn't have, look, you just got out the hospital more stress is not what you need." Not when it's what put you there in the first place, is what you'd like to say but you bite your tongue, already feeling yourself over stepping.
"I don't know... it's just embarassing, to think I spent all this time just living in this fantasy world-"
Your brows furrow slightly, not completely aware of the depths of his condition, it was something Mrs Kim didn't feel comfortable to explain to you and you understood that.
"Im sorry-um. I never realised it before but... you were my first mediator, always cheering me on despite it all. I never realised how much it meant till you left your apprenticeship..."
You're setting your cup on the table now, taking his still untouched tea too on placing it there as well. Attentively, you take his hands into yours, your sudden action inclining him to look at you. Your eyes softening when you see the lost yet unwavering gaze he has on you. He always seemed to look at you like that. What you failed to notice is how his hands stopped shaking from the moment you reached out for him, his body felt less jittery, that was just the kind of affect you had on him.
"You should've called, I didn't even know where you were until a week after I came back." His gaze wanders away from yours as you scold him, though he isn't fully upset, not when you're speaking so gently.
"It would be embarassing to, would it not? How else could you see me as someone reliable." For the first time you see the way his face contorts into such a deep hatred for himself, his grip on your hands tightening slightly.
"How could you see me as anything more than this...?" His voice shakes and you feel your heart drop. Your thumbs start to run over the back of his hands, unable to find the right words to stay but still wanting to comfort him. You knew what he was feeling, having felt it directly and from people around you. That weird sense of shame you have to carry, though whatever happened to you was far out of your control.
"Seo... There's nothing to be ashamed or worried about. You're still someone I admire and want to see grow."
His gaze meets you confused. You admire him? How could you when all he's done is fail since he met you. But you recognised features he missed in himself. His absolute focus, determination and thoughtfullness to his family were just a few.
"I truly admire how strong you are, so don't do anything stupid." You can't help the way your throat tightens up at the end.
His eyes immediately rim with tears at your words, he didn't expect you to guess why he was so many floors above his own. But it was clear, he wasn't on his way to see anyone else, more than happy to go to your apartment.
"I'm far from impressive [Name]." He mumbled with a small laugh, followed soon after with a short sob, tears involuntary falling as he holds your hands tighter.
Your hands leave his to wipe away at the tears as they fell, thumbing them away with a carefulness that made him shudder. Taking off his tear stained glasses for him, setting them aside. When your arms return outstretched he doesn't hesitate to fall into them. Letting out all the tears he'd refused to shed in the hollow walls of his house.
"Well I think you are, and I'm usually right so you should too."
He chuckled again against your shoulder and you laugh alongside him. For the first time since returning home he felt like he was alive again, whole. Maybe it was time to accept his friends were right and it was more than just admiration he felt for you. But that could wait another day. Another day where he'd like to see you again.
DID IT‼️‼️ Sorry this turned out more angsty than expected that happens when I'm tired.

Hi mom!!! (Yes I'm gonna call u mom everytime I request smth) So what if namgyu (or) Seowan joked about smth but that made reader cry???
Yes, my child.
The joke
Tumblr media
Characters: Kim Seo-Wan x Fem!reader, Nam-Gyu x fem!reader, Roh Jae-Won x fem!reader
Summary: as above
Warnings:
KIM SEO-WAN
Tumblr media
Seo-Wan had always been good at making you laugh. His humor was dry, sometimes self-deprecating, but it always felt warm, like a soft blanket on a cold day. Even on the rougher days, when the weight of his mind pressed down on him, he still found ways to lighten the mood with a small joke or a playful quip.
So, when he made a joke today, he didn’t expect you to react the way you did.
You had been sitting together in the hospital courtyard, the faint warmth of the afternoon sun filtering through the trees. He was telling you about his session earlier that day—how he had been talking to his therapist about feeling like a burden sometimes. You had been listening carefully, nodding along, giving him that soft, patient look that always made his heart feel a little steadier.
But then he chuckled, shaking his head.
“Maybe I should just disappear for a while, give everyone a break from me.”
It was supposed to be lighthearted. He didn’t mean it. But the second the words left his lips, your expression changed. Your lips pressed together, your hands gripping your sleeves. Your eyes, once warm and full of quiet understanding, were suddenly glassy.
And then, to his horror, you started crying. “Wait—wait, Y/N,” Seo-Won panicked, his voice rising slightly as he scooted closer. His fingers hovered uncertainly near your hands, not sure if he should touch you or give you space. “I was just joking, I swear. I didn’t mean it like that.”
You sniffled, shaking your head. “That’s not funny, Seo-Wan.”
Guilt settled into his chest like a heavy stone. He had seen you sad before, but this was different. This was because of him. “I—I’m sorry,” he said quickly. “I wasn’t thinking. I just—” His voice faltered.
You wiped at your eyes, exhaling shakily. “I know you don’t mean it, but…” You looked up at him then, and the rawness in your gaze made his heart ache. “What if you did? What if, one day, you actually did disappear? What if you decided everyone really would be better off without you?” (subtle foreshadowing?)
Seo-Won felt his throat tighten. He knew what you meant. He knew why that joke wasn’t funny.
“I don’t want you to joke about things like that,” you murmured. “Not when I—” You hesitated, then reached for his hand, squeezing it tightly. “Not when I love you.” His breath caught. You had said those words before, but somehow, right now, they hit differently. They weren’t just a declaration—they were a plea.
Seo-Won swallowed, interlacing his fingers with yours. His grip was firm, as if holding onto you kept him tethered. “I’m sorry,” he said again, softer this time. “I won’t joke about that anymore. I promise.”
You nodded, squeezing his hand again before releasing a trembling breath. “Good.” For a moment, you both sat in silence, letting the weight of the conversation settle. Then, in true Seo-Won fashion, he cleared his throat and muttered, “Guess I really need to work on my comedy routine, huh?” You let out a watery laugh, rolling your eyes. “Yeah. Maybe stick to bad puns.”
His lips curled into a small smile. “Duly noted.”
And as the sun continued to warm the courtyard, he silently promised himself that he would never joke about disappearing again. Because he had you. And no matter how dark things got, he wanted to stay.
For you.
For both of you.
NAM-GYU
Tumblr media
Nam-Gyu had always been a jokester. It was one of the things you loved about him—his ability to find humor in almost anything, to make you laugh even when life wasn’t going your way.
But today, his joke didn’t land the way he expected. You had been telling him about a mistake you made at work, something that had been bothering you all day. It wasn’t a huge mistake, but it made you feel embarrassed and frustrated with yourself. You had been hoping for comfort, or at least a distraction.
Instead, Nam-Gyu, ever the comedian, had smirked and said, “Wow, maybe I should start calling you ‘Clumsy-dumb Y/N’ from now on.”
The nickname was meant to be lighthearted, but something about it—maybe the way it reminded you of your own insecurities, maybe the fact that you were already feeling raw—made your chest tighten. Your throat ached. Before you could stop yourself, tears welled up in your eyes. Nam-Gyu’s grin faltered the moment he saw your face change.
“Hey, wait—” He reached for you, but you had already turned away, pressing the heels of your palms against your eyes.
“I—I know it was a joke,” you sniffled, embarrassed by your reaction. “I just… I already feel stupid about it, and that just made it worse.”
Nam-Gyu’s stomach twisted with guilt. He wasn’t the type to upset people on purpose, especially not you. His jokes were supposed to make you laugh, not cry.
“Ah, Y/N…” His voice softened as he moved closer, his hands landing gently on your shoulders. “I didn’t mean it like that. You know I don’t actually think you’re dumb, right? You’re, like, the smartest person I know.”
You took a shaky breath. “It didn’t feel like that for a second.”
Nam-Gyu frowned. He hated this—hated that he had made you feel bad, even for a second. He rubbed the back of his neck, then sighed, pulling you into a hug.
“I’m really sorry,” he murmured against your hair. “That was a dumb joke. If it helps, I’ll never call you that again. I’ll just go back to calling you the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Despite yourself, you let out a small, watery laugh. Nam-Gyu pulled back just enough to see your face, his thumb brushing over your cheek to wipe away a stray tear.
“There it is,” he said with a relieved smile. “I much prefer making you laugh.”
You sniffled again but leaned into his touch. “Maybe stick to funnier jokes next time.” “Noted,” he said, then, after a beat, added, “Can I still call myself ‘Clumsy-dumb Nam-Gyu’ when I do dumb things?”
You rolled your eyes but smiled. “Fine.” Nam-Gyu grinned and kissed your forehead.
“Deal.”
ROH JAE-WON
Tumblr media
You and Jae-Won were lounging on the couch, scrolling through your phones, the warm hum of the TV playing in the background. It was one of those lazy evenings where the two of you just existed in each other’s space, comfortable and easy.
Jae-Won chuckled at something on his screen and nudged your arm. “Hey, look at this,” he said, showing you a meme.
You grinned but didn’t laugh, your mind preoccupied with the stress from earlier in the day. Work had been overwhelming, and you were already feeling a little fragile. But Jae-Won didn’t seem to notice.
Instead, he playfully bumped his shoulder against yours. “You’re so serious today,” he teased. “What, did I finally make you lose interest in me?”
It was meant to be lighthearted, a harmless joke. But something about it hit differently. Maybe it was the exhaustion, the creeping self-doubt, or just the weight of everything you hadn’t voiced out loud. Before you could stop yourself, tears welled up in your eyes.
Jae-Won’s smile faded instantly. “Wait… You’re—?” His voice softened as he sat up straight, eyes scanning your face with concern. “Oh no, no, I was just joking, baby. I didn’t mean that.”
You quickly wiped your eyes, embarrassed. “I know, I just… I don’t know why I’m crying.”
Jae-Won frowned, then gently pulled you into his arms. “No, it’s okay. Tell me what’s wrong.” He rubbed soothing circles on your back, his warmth grounding you.
You took a shaky breath, trying to gather your thoughts. “I just had a hard day, and I guess I’m feeling kind of insecure. Your joke just… hit me the wrong way.”
Jae-Won exhaled, holding you a little tighter. “I’m so sorry, love. I was being stupid. You know I’d never joke about something if I knew it would make you feel like this.”
You nodded against his chest. “I know.” He pressed a kiss to your temple. “From now on, I’ll be more careful, okay? And if you ever feel this way, you have to tell me. No bottling things up.”
You sniffled and let out a small laugh. “Okay.” Jae-Won pulled back just enough to see your face, wiping away a stray tear with his thumb. “But just so we’re clear—you losing interest in me? Impossible.”
This time, you really did laugh, and he grinned in relief. “That’s my girl,” he murmured, pressing another kiss to your forehead. “Now, let’s do something to make you feel better. Ice cream? A bad movie? Or do you just want me to hold you?”
You looked up at him, warmth filling your chest. “Just hold me.”
And he did, for as long as you needed.

One of the things I love about kdramas is that it really subverts what masculinity is supposed to be. You see the loser who's down bad for the female lead (Lovely runner, queen of tears, Love Next Door, Strong Girl Do Bong Soon, the Judge from Hell), you see the soft masculinity in hometown cha cha cha, summer strike and Doctor Slump and extraordinary attorney woo, the protective kind of masculinity in any of Ji Chang Wook's and Ahn Bo Hyun's works, the reassured and confident masculinity of Seo Kang Joon in Undercover High school and Lee Jun Hyuk in Love scout, the playful masculinity in Twinkling Watermelon and Crash Course in Romance, the stoic but gentle masculinity in Doctor Romantic and Hierarchy, and the "I care about you and only you" kind of masculinity in Vincenzo to name a few.
This is progress from the old kdramas and I get that it's fictional and in real life, some of these actors are assholes. But in the era where Toxic masculinity is rampant, I think we can turn towards kdrama to have some inkling of what kind of man we should strive to be and what kind of man we should want. This should not something we see only in fiction. We should raise our sons (I'm 21) to be like this so that one day it's not just a concept for fictional love stories.
