The implied killing each other, but also the desire to find each other again in the afterlife!! Especially, I'm thinking about the “I want to die like this // I love you, able to answer so honestly and purely”. I think about this a lot- when push comes to shove, I think there's no other way Akutagawa would have wanted to die. He's so unfit to life, so made for violence and death, that he always knew he had to die, one way or the other; I mean, he already experienced dying twice, and neither time showed much regret or resentment for his life coming to an end. He's got a terminal illness. Overall, as someone who was always meant to die from the moment he was born, he must have felt like there was no better way to die than dying for a loved one, where him loving someone felt like a miracle of his own, he himself probably believing he could have never been able to love anyone. I'm sure Akutagawa would consider that the best way he could have died (“I want to die like this”), I'm sure the “You damn fool // Hurry up and go” is his own “I love you, able to answer so honestly and purely”

But I agree that the line you pointed to is extremely sskk, especially from an Akutagawa pov. I do believe Akutagawa sees Atsushi as this kind of ethereal being, someone who's destined to heaven, because that's what he deserves, because he's made for a world that is “pure and new”. No matter his hateful words, in the end Akutagawa was never able to see anything but perfection in Atsushi. Maybe that's actually their greatest difference.

He would have come by sooner, having finished downloading all of the stuff onto the drive way earlier, but he got a bit distracted doing... a few different things. He hoped Casimir didn't mind the wait too much. It would be a shame if he did.

Approaching Casimir's door, he knocked the same way he did last time, before stepping back.

He called out, combing his fingers through his hair to neaten it up a bit while he waited for the door to open. Not that he was trying to make it look extra neat. re: spoken Gallifreyan sounds like song

i think that while the Ood's language is very melodic and choral, Gallifreyan is much closer to sounding like early, untuned vocal synthesizers. or maybe Kikuo's tuning style.

Kikuo's tuning is very warbly and scratchy, while also running the gambit between being incredibly clear and sounding like it's been run through a VCR. that's what i think verbal Gallifreyan would sound like, tone-wise

meanwhile the telepathic element is picked up by non-telepathic species as instruments. it's like how when presented with something maddeningly impossible, the brain's first reaction is to try and find something it knows that it can compare it to. it doesn't really sound like instruments, but it's either instruments or spontaneous combustion!

the Doctor's thoughts normally sound like a steel pan drum, but sometimes it sounds more like a hand shaker. likewise the Master's sound similar to a hydraulophone. they both used to have more, but since Gallifrey's destruction, the constant hum of Gallifreyan in their heads has disappeared. plus, the Master can't think much over the Drums

granted, they aren't really just thoughts either. they're everything that can't be said in the three-dimensional world.

VERY COOL I LOVE IT...maybe a lil too much. Went crazy with the drawings and ideas BUT YEAHHHHHHH. Uh before I start ranting. I seriously recommend listening to Hole Dwelling by Kikuo (the english version or just look up the english lyrics) because that song reminds me a lot of this au. Like. A lot. I WANNA GO TO THE KIKUO CONCERT IN MY CITY SO BAAAADDDD

Anyway, most of, if not all the mer aus on this blog are sorta just viewed as a plus to the magic but this would be pretty much the first (that I can think of) where it's an actual curse.

Anywayyyy uh, the candle magic came from Pedro's side, so maybe the family curse came from Alma's side?? Maybe the magic and the curse sorta clashed in a way.

Anyway that leads into my other idea, maybe after the first ceremonies the clash got too much and. Boom catastrophic stuff, idk. Maybe a sinkhole formed beneath Casita and after a few months, it finally collapses into the hole. And a storm fills it with water. Whether it's caused by Pepa or not, I'm not sure, but maybe not? Because I sorta like the idea of there being a perpetual cloud above it, and anytime the smallest amount of water is taken out, whether manually or by natural causes, I think it immediately rains to fill it back up.

If it happens early on, I think it's considered a myth by a lot, except for those old enough to remember Alma and the triplets at the time, and it's told to children mostly to scare them into staying away from the sinkhole and getting them to stay safe around water.

They like to tell the kids that if you look into the sinkhole (which seems infinite and VERY dark), you can see one of them. But you can never see their faces for some reason. Idk

UHHHHH. I like the idea of them not being entirely normal merfolk. Like the girls are all jellyfish merfolk, and the guys manta rays. That ides came later tho, that's why lil Antonio sort looks like a baby jellyfish (or Ponyo in a way), and then in the last one I was debating between the two. Leaning towards manta ray.

Reason why they have clothes is because some people genuinely believe that the Madrigals are down there and feel bad, so they sorta just. Throw clothes down there. And other miscellaneous. Sometimes something else will pop back up, almost as a thank you.

Uhh Antonio is very curious about the surface, but he's not allowed up there. Doesn't necessarily stop him. He usually harasses Camilo or Mirabel to go up there with him, usually only for a few minutes. I also had an idea where part of there curse is they can’t leave the water, even breaking the surface. Or at least, they can’t stay above surface for long. They can get pretty close though. Might scrap it idk

Android Girl by DECO*27 is, in a weird way, kinda the definitive Miku song for me. That might be controversial given like... World is Mine and Melt and Miku Miku Ni Shite Ageru and Miku Anamanaguchi exist, but I feel like Miku has absolutely grown into something beyond what those songs alone convey.

For starters, just on an aesthetic level, Android Girl is about an android girl. Obviously there's symbolism to that and whatnot but it immediately touches on the fact that Miku is a software; herself, an "android girl" in a way.

But obviously the song isn't really about an android girl as much as Tokyo Teddy Bear isn't about a literal plush toy. Android Girl seems to be depicting some type of troubled relationship dynamic, and this is kinda one of the things I personally associate with Miku as a comparative newcomer to the fandom: dark meaning hidden beneath a cute anime aesthetic. What Android Girl does is manage to balance the appeal of "dark undertones" and "cute anime aesthetics" all tied with a very Vocaloid-adjacent software-flavored bow of sorts. The MV displays this balance expertly, in my opinion:

It's cute and expressive while still having a muted color palette (notably punctuated by jarring pinks and reds which only further evoke that feeling of passionate emotion in a bleak situation) and soulless, suffocating backgrounds; you could simultaneously believe this was just a cute song about a robot girl, which is evocative of older depictions of Miku, AND that there's something a bit darker beneath this. The key here is also that it doesn't swing too far in either direction: "this song is about a troubled relationship" isn't as dark as something you'd find in an average Kikuo song but it's also a few steps beyond Miku singing about vegetable juice or being the princess of Earth.

Sonically, it's a fairly typical DECO*27 song, but one has to remember that DECO*27 is an absolute titan of a vocaloid producer whose sound may as well be synonymous with Miku herself.

Now I definitely wouldn't say it's my favorite Miku song by any means, hell I don't think it even makes my top 50 and it's not even my favorite DECO*27 song, but it's definitely a song I find extremely synonymous with the appeal of Hatsune Miku in the current day, and it fills all of the Miku-shaped holes in my heart all at once. Android Girl may not be the greatest or most influential Vocaloid song, but I definitely find it to be a fascinating product of so many different aspects of Vocaloid simultaneously that I think it's always gonna be one of the first songs I personally think of when I think about Vocaloid.

Haha, thank you! Music is one of the first things that help me when designing a character, a lot of songs influence my creative process with specific characters so this is a good question. Ema: Brand New City by Mitski, I Want Love by Akira Yamaoka, Hitogawari by Kikuo. Naoya: Beautiful Love by Heffy, Tear you apart by She Wants Revenge, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND by Bad Omens I don't have the best taste when it comes to music, but I hope you find any of these songs good. :]
