Wait, wait, what? Who's this? 👀 Meet some old friends - Malachy and Chloe O'Connell(*)!

Oh MAN, as soon as I saw @sephiramy 's October challenge "retrOCtober", I knew I had to make at least one doodle, because I've got a bunch of OCs I haven't drawn in a while and who have sorta-retired in my universe. I haven't drawn Mal in at least five years, I think. It's been even longer for Chloe, so I'd say they both qualify perfectly! Not that I couldn't have drawn them any sooner, but sometimes we need a lil' prompt, right?

This isn't polished or anything, just a quick coloured doodle, but it was a great warm up and I'm thrilled to draw some more old OCs if my time and energy allow it! The nostalgia is real, my dudes.

But her mom, my grandmother got a job in Austin and so they moved. My mom died tragically when I was 11 - and my stepfather took me to New York." Maia said.

"I guess when you discovered that you were a werewolf, you started to question your heritage." Elijah said.

"Yes. I never thought it would be such a crazy discovery." Maia inhaled sharply.

"The Crescents have you as a new Queen. You should wear the Crown proudly." Elijah concluded.

DECLAN O'CONNELL has returned to mystic falls! he is a 23 year old HUMAN and looks like FREDDIE THORP. he has been described as being COMPASSIONATE, but also NAIVE. his last memory is unknowingly having his heart stopped by a witch friend for a spell.

did your character survive the legacies finale? if so, what have they been up to in the past year?

2026+ - After the originals, Declan is noted (after learning about the supernatural) to have became the human faction leader in New Orleans just like other members of his family, his uncle Kieran and Cami, working with Freya, Keelin and Vincent to keep New Orleans safe. I also like to think he tried to keep in contact with Hope, given their previous relationship, even if she did push him away.

what is their last memory?

(between season 2 and season 3 of the originals) - Declan has a break from college and has gone to see his cousin, Cami in New Orleans to check in with her. While in New Orleans he meets a girl that he is charmed by and she ends up using him unknowingly in a spell, that involves stopping his heart and then bringing him back to life a few moments later.

what are your character’s goals?

at the moment, he is just trying to live his life and get some distance from his parents. more to be added when he works out that he is in the future. but the boy just loves to cook and sometimes a good party.

any headcanons about your character’s past or present?

Full Bio Declan O'Connell-Jones is from Dublin, Ireland, raised there by his parents, along with his siblings (if someone wants to apply for them). He is Cami and Sean O'Connell's cousin on his mother's side, but his parents hyphened keeping both his parents names. He is the child of a powerful leader, who is a CEO of many wealth businesses. Declan however has always disliked his father choices, due to his corrupt nature, knowing his father believes money can buy anything. He has known since he was in high school that his father has affairs, one of them even being with a girl he was friends with from high school. His father a very very charming man when he wanted things. And distant when he didn’t. Declan is one of the few people that know his fathers true colours due to Declan not following the path his father set for him. Declan always wanting to be a chef and never wanting to follow in his fathers foot steps. Declan at 21 (against his morals and after leaning of the death of his cousin, Sean) threatened his father, saying that he would tell his mother the truth of his father’s affair if he didn’t pay for him to go to college to be a Chef. Declan did this, knowing that his mother already knows about the affair and that his father wouldn't pay for him to go to college otherwise. He become a well known and popular chef after this. 2013 (between season 2 and season 3 of the originals - this is where his memories are from) - Declan has a break from college and has gone to see Cami in New Orleans to check in with her. While in New Orleans he meets a girl that he is charmed by and she ends up using him in a spell, that involves stopping his heart and then bringing him back to life a few moments later. in 2026 canon - he has been living in New Orelans and has been dating Hayley for a number of years, noted to have taught Hope to drive and that they cook all their favourites together. He was also working at Rousseau's and is a great chef. Hayley is noted to always had one foot out the door with him and never told him about the supernatural. I am headcanoning that he was in New Orleans since 2020 (when he was 30) to continue his chef career.

any plots or connections you’d like to have?

witch that used him in his youth. girl that he was friends with that slept with his father. siblings. friends. would be great to have some vampire drama for him, someone compelling him. exes and flings also would be great (i think in his mild now he was open to throuple relatonships). maybe someone he was dating after hayley if someone wants a like modern connection. also might be up to a child of his own connection with the first plot.

what do you ship?

we really didn't get to see declan with hayley that much, but it seemed very cute. so open to that. so like the idea of declan and bonnie having been together in the future after hayley died, but will wait for player for that to be canon in the group. so for declan i am pretty much open to anything. though the boy is currently heterosexual.

BACKGROUND

-Camille Rose O'Connell was born March 17th, 1988 and she wasn’t alone. On that same day only a few minutes later her twin brother, Sean, was born. Patrick and Rose, two newly weds, were overwhelmed with two babies at once which led to a rocky upbringing. So the two grew close, often counting on only each other for support and comfort. Her father, a war veteran, was drafted a few years after the two were born. He came back with PTSD, something that he didn’t receive much help for. From then on, Cami became interested in Psychology.

-In school Cami stuck to her books, hoping her smarts would make up for her families lack of money. This ended up working in her favor when she was accepted to a nice college that helped her get on the right path for a degree in Psychology. Her brother decided to follow their families long duty of priesthood. So the two ended up splitting for the first time since birth, one going to Chicago and the other to New Orleans.

-At first, it felt like life was looking up so instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop she attempted to finally live her life. It however did drop, one night she got a phone call from her uncle Kieran. He was distraught and confused saying that Sean had murdered nine people and right after killed himself. This shattered all plans for college and she quickly packed up and made her way to New Orleans. Deep down she knew there was something mysterious about his death

-New Orleans ended up being a place that Cami adored despite the obvious darkness that loomed over the streets. After a few weeks of not finding much about why Sean did what he did, she ended up getting a job as a bartender at Rousseau’s. A few months after that she enrolled in a graduate program to continue her degree. Life seemed to go on as normal as it could and each day she learned nothing new about what happened to her brother.

-Then Elijah Mikaelson walked into her bar and ordered a drink. He spoke about his troubles and woes, so she decided to let him know his brother was narcissistic and paranoid. Soon after that she was introduced to Klaus who compelled her to give Marcel, a man she often served at the bar, a chance for a possible date. That date led to a series of events that ended up helping her understand what really happened to her brother. With now being aware of the supernatural world that lurked not only in the streets but in her family history, she was able to understand why it felt as if she was always doomed.

-The supernatural world ended up being one that she happened to feel at home with. Turns out, her family had a long history of taking care of dark objects. These objects helped humans against different beings. It felt as if this world was where she belonged. But her involvement in that world was dangerous. It was never safe for her and that became apparent when she was compelled by Aurora de Martel to kill herself once Klaus admitted he loved her.

-Becoming a vampire brought out apart of Cami, she hoped would never return. She became more impulsive and her anger bubbled into something much harder to control with heightened senses. It took some time, but with the help of her close friends she was able to come back from it. However, it was just in time to meet her death by Lucien.

-Death didn’t last forever and she wasn’t exactly sure how that happened. One day she awoke in a coffin as a violent storm raged over New Orleans. As she walked the windy streets, barefoot, she realized something horrible had happened. So she made her way to the only place she knew would be untouched, the Mikaelson compound.

-when returning from the dead, it became apparent that inadu had brought her back. so she joined forces with hayley marshall and began to investigate the best they could. for months it felt as if the two were on the right track, but hayley's daughter ingrid ended up being tricked which resulted in the hybrids death. right before hayley died, she made cami promise to look over her children. something that has been proven to be difficult since they are all so heartbroken and filled with rage over their parent's deaths.

Underrated Klamille moment: When he carried her like this in her grief. He's so tender and gentle. And when it seems like having Marcel around will comfort her he puts aside his grudge (something Klaus has struggled to do on several occasions let's be honest) and calls for a truce. Because he wants to be the one to comfort Cami, he wants to be the one there for her. But she's Cami so most of all he wants her to be alright, so if he has to step aside and allow someone else to do it then that's what he'll do. I loved this scene tbh.

she remembers growing up in the city, but leaving to study psychology. she recently returned, three months ago.

what is your character's job.

recently graduated in psychology, but working as a bartender in a bar close to home.

where has your character been pulled from in their fandom.

i'm taking into account all of the character's development in the three seasons of the originals, but she doesn't remember anything. it's like camille from the first episode, from the first season.

has any magic affected your character.

just the magic that makes her remember nothing. and a ring that masks the effects of vampirism, but she doesn't know it.

I'm starting this blog with a little overview of the OCs who are most present in my head these days. I (more or less) recently drew a shiny line up that I still like, after all, so why not use it?

I tried to get their heights somewhat right, give or take a few inches... I'll put their heights into the descriptions, too, though, for anyone (like me) who cares about these details. :)

Avery Constance St. James (*April 1st 1995 in New York City, USA; 5'2 ft / 1,57 m): a small but fierce pharmacist who lost her heart to an irresistably lively Irishman in 2022 (who refused to give it back), and who now juggles being a loving mama and thriving in her usual chaos.

Daryl Louis McKenna (*February 6th 1993 in Galway, Ireland; 5'9 ft / 1,75 m): rockstar scientist (biochemistry) and former drug abusing idiot who recently got engaged to Avery - a special lady he just happened to find when he wasn't looking, and who unexpectedly found his greatest joy in fatherhood.

Dexter Linus St. James (*August 11th 2023, in New York City, USA): a tiny Irish-American hybrid - the son of Daryl and Avery. Named after Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory and Linus Pauling.

Orla Deirdre O'Connell (*October 28th 1992 in Galway, Ireland; 5'9 ft / 1,75 m): an eccentric tattoo artist who appreciates the most beautiful things in life and who believes in love and classic romance like no other. Grew up with three brothers - Malachy (*1980-2006), Kieran (*1985) and her twin Declan, and thus handles life like a lady, but never without the appropriate dash of assertiveness.

Michael Theodore "Mick" O'Loughlin (*December 22nd 1992 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 6'5 ft / 1,96 m): a tall and elvenlike fella who stems from an ancient bloodline of highly fascinating individuals and who may have a supernatural streak to him. Motor mechanic in everyday life and a curious and whimsical guy overall, with soulful green eyes that effortlessly see behind the things others would not even dare to question.

Alistair Lachlan "Ali/Al" Abbott (*May 28th 1993 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 6'4 ft / 1,93 m): an eccentric weirdo, very charming and always a little clueless, with a heart of gold. A former rising football star who had to give up that particular dream to an unfortunate injury, and a surprise teenage dad who loves his friends and longs to meet the love of his life; who waits tables in a restaurant by day and woos ladies - who are willing to pay for his services - by night.

Lancelot Malcolm "Lance" Abbott (*July 27th 1988 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'4 ft / 1,63 m): a true force of nature, a capable internist, strong-willed and assertive (some would say stubborn) confident and outspoken, sometimes on the brink of being plain rude. An intelligent and complex person who may be a pain in the arse at times, but who knows what is right and important in life... such as suppressing some long lasting issues, ah, haha, oh well.

Maisie Rose Boyd (*June 11th 2011 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'0 ft / 1,52 m): the surprise love child of teenage parents Ali Abbott and Nessa Boyd, who is growing into a sweet and caring young lady these days.

Vanessa Christine "Nessa/Ness" Boyd (*January 14th 1993 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'2 ft / 1,57 m): a young and smart psychology graduate who is eager to finally start her career that she had to postpone due to becoming a mother at only eighteen. Gentle and kind, but also very straightforward, never taking crap from anyone and showing bluntness in just the right moments.

Caroline Miriam "Carrie" Anderson (*August 2nd 1987 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'4 ft / 1,63 m): a somewhat restless soul, always looking for something while never quite knowing what that something is. One hell of a doctor. Caring, not making any differences between people,and eager to look behind a facade... and entertaining the thought of running her own practice soon!

Dallas Ariston Gray (*October 22nd 1987 in Glasgow, Scotland; 6'4 ft / 1,93 m): a half-Greek, hunkalicious metal lord with a voice from both heaven and hell, a primary school teacher, musician and not quite your average nice guy from next door - the unhingedness may be subtle, but it's so, so there.

Fiona Annabel "Fi" Christie (*March 4th 1994 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 6'0 ft / 1,82 m): a truly delightful creature with many talents, drawing people in with her... everything. A hairdresser and make up artist, a dancer (classic ballet, jazz, as well as adult entertainment) and a gentle soul. Her optimism may make her look naive at times, but

Jean Melissa "Melissa" Carter (*June 1st 1985 in Calgary, Canada; 6'3 ft / 1,90 m): a creative director at a local ad agency... who clicks on suspicious links in spam mails and who forgets to check whether she has enough gas before she drives distances… and strands in the middle of nowhere. May seem scatterbrained but is incredibly loveable and the apple of the eye of her wife, Donna.

Donna Yvaine Christie (*January 3rd 1985 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'9 ft / 1,74 m): older and slightly (read as: not so slightly) overbearing sister of Fiona. Has her heart at the right spot but is also used to success and getting what she wants, which makes her a little insensitive and even tactless at times; still often fails to understand that "not doing things her way" isn’t necessarily the same as "doing things the wrong way".

Graeme "Sully" Sullivan (*September 7th 1986 in Perth, Scotland; 5'11 ft /1,80 m): an incredibly creative person all around who has known his goal pretty early in life - making the world a brighter, more colourful place! Owner of a tattoo studio in town - "The Den Of Tallulah Banks" - which isn’t just a tattoo studio, but also a place where creatives can get together and local artists from town can exhibit their works without paying annoying fees.

Hallie Henderson (*April 2nd 1988 in Aberdeen, Scotland; 5'7 ft / 1,70 m): a music journalist, writing for the popular UK/Ireland based magazine "Grot Spot". Interested in pretty much anything, believes in people. Very gentle and caring... and just a little bit weird. Loves life but doesn't close her eyes to the crappy aspects of it. A realistic optimist who is far from naive but maybe a bit too forgiving sometimes.

Jett Jones (*January 15th 1984, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England; 6'2 ft / 1,87 m): Hallie's friend and fellow Grot Spot writer. A Geordie beauty who never met her real parents but couldn't care less, as the lovely Joneses raised her well. Outspoken and blunt, appears to be afraid of nothing. Never refills the office coffee pot and would most likely survive a zombie apocalypse. Treasures her heart and shares her real name with hardly anybody.
