How did you first approach suppliers in China? Also, because the next step was for our suppliers to understand our watch concept and to produce prototypes of course. You can imagine that this was a time-consuming part of the process that took around 6 months. And for most of these drawings we had more than 10 versions before we got the perfect one. As a matter of fact, our final technical drawings consist of more than 100 individual detailed drawings. This took us several months to find out and to put it on paper. In addition, it should be a robust and sustainable mechanism where we wanted to work with high-quality materials only. We wanted to be absolutely sure that the watch can be switched from a pocket to a wristwatch in a smooth way: only a push, a twist and a click. Our team also consists of a mechanical engineer and together we have worked long and hard on our special feature. We have put a lot of energy in the design of the watch, but even more on the pocket/wrist watch configuration. We are proud that we can say that we have designed the entire watch case ourselves. And, last but not least, because we believe it looks great! Switch your style in just a few seconds! Did you design the watch case and other parts by yourself, or did you get help with this part? Because it is a timepiece representing the history of the watch. Why do we think our watch is made for everyone? Because it is fashionable and it will fit basically every dress code.īecause it will suit all practical occasions, including hygienic restrictions. Therefore, we came up with a new watch concept that allows you to switch from a wristwatch to a pocket watch (and reverse) in just a few seconds! He works in a hospital and is not allowed to wear wrist watches for hygienic reasons.Īlternative timekeepers (for example pocket watches) are limited in choice and also medics might like to wear a wristwatch outside work. We brainstormed about how our ‘perfect watch’ could look like and how we could make it really special.Įventually, after a couple of years, we were inspired by a real-life problem that Reinder’s brother faced during work. David, at the other hand, was still looking for that perfect watch that he could not find. Reinder collected many different watches over time. So we both had this shared goal to create a special watch at a certain moment since we both like watches. So, why did you choose to launch a watch brand? Although it took some time we are eventually getting there! We both had an interest in watches and found out that we had a shared dream of creating our own watch at some time. We got to know each other about seven years ago when we both started our first job, a traineeship, for a Dutch multinational. We are from the Netherlands where we grew up in the same northern region and went to the same university. Thank you for the introduction, Fredrik, and ‘hello’ to all the readers. Reinder and David, please tell us a bit about yourself and what you did before you started DR.W. Free Consultation (30 Min): Ask Questions About the Importing Process

The Pebble, as the watch is called, can also help runners and cyclists track their workouts, and even works as a rangefinder for golfers. Many have broad applications: The Silicon Valley start-up Pebble Technology has developed a watch that synchs with a wearer’s smartphone and provides notifications when calls, e-mails, and texts arrive. Any editors, journalists, bloggers, or social media influencers interested in reviewing the CUSVEN collection are encouraged to reach out through the contact information listed below or via the CUSVEN Kickstarter campaign page.Eone’s innovation comes at a time when wristwatches and wrist bands are becoming a popular platform for the latest technology, from mobile computing to health monitoring. The earliest backers of the CUSVEN Kickstarter campaign will be able to pre-order their CUSVEN watches for an exclusive $299 price instead of the $459 MSRP price. Some of the fine details that stand out are the hour and second hands, the crown-shaped dial, and the inherent design for each collection.ĬUSVEN has also announced that the company will implement AR technology to allow potential customers to virtually try on a CUSVEN watch before making a purchase. Each CUSVEN collection contains unique details that are crafted and assembled by hand. Each CUSVEN watch comes with an Italian leather strap. Straps play an important role in the aesthetics and durability of the watch. In order to ensure the precision and accuracy of each watch, the CUSVEN watches in the Kickstarter campaign feature Miyota 6S21 or Mioyta 82S0 Japanese movement, depending on the collection. The movement is the engine of the watch that powers the mechanics that allow it to accurately keep time.Sapphire crystals are the gold standard and are almost exclusively used by luxury brands. CUSVEN watches use sapphire crystals that have a 9 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Low-quality watches typically use mineral crystals that scratch easily even at the slightest drop. The crystal is the transparent covering over the face of the watch. At this price point, watches are considered to be within the enthusiast or quasi-luxury quality, but the craftsmanship of each CUSVEN watch shows that they comfortably place in the entry-level luxury category in the world of watches. The watches in the Greenwich, Big Ben and Arabesque collections start at $459 MSRP.With three new collections ( Greenwich, Big Ben, and Arabesque) set to be launched, CUSVEN has announced that the company will be launching a Kickstarter campaign on Monday, September 19 at 9:00 pm (PST) to raise funds for the production of these new collections and to reach the broader watch-enthusiast community. This was primarily done by establishing close relationships with watch parts suppliers, thereby eliminating the high markup costs. CUSVEN creates watches with quality that rivals entry-level luxury brands but is offered at a much more affordable price without sacrificing craftsmanship. However, novice watch buyers will end up paying for the brand name and not the actual value of the watch. There are typically five aspects ( price, crystal, movement, leather, and small details) of a watch to examine in order to determine the quality of a watch.

So the average Kickstarter watch will not only be competing against mid-tier brands like Raymond Weil, Tag Heuer, Bell & Ross and Breitling, but also high-end brands such as Cartier, Rolex, Patek Philippe and Blancpain. These selling points would not go over well, especially when you consider that there will be dozens of mid-market and luxury watch brands of a similar vintage (not to mention better quality) to choose from. The same thing applies to vintage watches, where a no-name chronograph wristwatch by Liban, Hilton or Clebar will sell for much less than a comparable Seiko or Omega chronograph.Ĭan you imagine trying to sell a Kickstarter wristwatch in 30 or 40 years? "I know it looks just like a 1970s Omega chronograph wristwatch, but this one was made in Todd's garage in 2017, so it must be better!" Rolex watches consistently sell for higher prices in the secondary market than Bulova watches because of the difference in the prestige of the two name brands (among other reasons). You see, when an individual or company goes to Kickstarter for funding, it is generally because they can't get the funding elsewhere.īecause in the world of collectible watches, name brands matter. There is also the issue of the name brand (or lack thereof) attached to the typical Kickstarter wristwatch. Want a Kickstarter wristwatch with a carbon-fiber/Damascus steel/titanium case? You can have it! Do you possess a burning desire for a wristwatch that was hand-assembled in Geneva, Switzerland by alpine gnomes? Kickstarter has it! Do you have an unquenchable thirst for a watch inspired by a vintage World War I trench/pro-diver automatic/luxury ultra-thin wristwatch? Step right up and choose from dozens of different (yet all vaguely similar) Kickstarter models! Nearly every single one of these watch projects got funded because of some over-hyped hook. The next thing to hate about the average Kickstarter wristwatch is the gimmicks. Now, how can a thousand different types of watches all be unique or highly desirable? The brutal answer is that they can't, although that reality might not become apparent for a number of years. When I did a search on the Kickstarter website, I came up with 1,062 - over a thousand - fully funded projects through February 2020. Let's go through the list.įirst, there have been hundreds of wristwatches funded via the Kickstarter platform over the years. Why? Well for a lot of different reasons, actually. And, unsurprisingly, luxury wristwatches happen to be one of the more popular projects on Kickstarter.īut I'm here to tell you that it's a very bad idea to buy a Kickstarter wristwatch. Kickstarter is an online crowdfunding platform where regular people can pledge their monetary support for almost any type of creative venture under the sun. Unfortunately, some of these young wristwatch aficionados are occasionally tempted to get their mechanical wristwatch fix on Kickstarter. Fine mechanical watches are one of the great luxury goods of the modern era. And I certainly can't blame them for this particular addiction. A lot of people - particularly younger, tech-savvy men - are watch lovers.

Listening to the Prema drivers (aka a bunch of teenagers and kids basically, especially some of the boys) talking about love and relationships is equally interesting and hilarious. You can really tell who has experiences and who has none whatsoever 😭

small brain: the scene where jayce gets it on w mel and the scene where sky asks viktor out and he refuses are paralleled to show that jayce has decided to focus on politics (mel) and neglect his partnership with viktor, while viktor continues to focus on science and experimentation (as well as poiting out viktors growing isolation from those around him).
big brain: the scene where jayce gets it on w mel and the scene where sky asks viktor out and he refuses are paralleled to show that viktor is not interested in women and is gay. and in love with jayce.

So since 4sd this week I have been thinking about my favorite critical role quote.
"It's about a very long story and we are, even you, a tiny part of it."
Which is from campaign one episode 56 (near the end I could look up the time stamp but I am lazy). It's a Percy quote and it is a CRIMINALLY under rated cr quote cause have you ever heard anything more perfectly describing critical role? Any way my point is I love this quote and it is never included in cr quote lists AND IT SHOULD BE. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

In watching the aftermath of episode 6, I love how Lapin's death is such a fantastic catalyst for the narrative. The steaks stakes have been elevated. The tone has irrevocably shifted. Normalcy has been shattered: this is war, this is life and death. Nothing is safe.
Before he dies, the party is injured but for the most part we (and the characters) can believe that with the right maneuvering, everything could be okay again. Amethar's legitimacy could somehow be reinstated, and they could return home, shaken but whole. But then very suddenly, it can't: a person they care for has been brutally killed. Even if Amethar regains his seat and all is put to rights, there will have been a grave cost. Their flight from the cathedral is grim with shock and grief. They have had to leave Lapin's body behind with their enemies. I'm of the opinion that if only Preston had died, somehow, that Liam certainly would still have been in a bad place, but the rest of the party might have only felt sympathy, not personal loss (or in the case of the twins, an awakening to the realities of loss and of Lapin as a complete and nuanced person, regardless of how they viewed him). The return of the previously mundane note - Lapin, for Candia - becomes heartwrenching poetry.
This was what I was exactly what I was hoping for when I was heard this silly candyland setting would pack an emotional punch and the gravity of narrative I like in actual play DnD. And it gets to keep being silly and absurd at the same time!! It's impressive to balance those things.
RIP my fave Lapin, I loved you, and I also loved your death.

Watcher family? Waiting for more Ghost Files? In the meantime may I introduce you to Lockwood & Co., which is essentially Ghost Files as a TV show!
We follow 3 talent psychic youths who battle spirits (known as Visitors) in an alternate UK which 50 years ago was overrun with an epidemic of hauntings.
Since then, agencies have been created which employ young people (your ability to hear, see and sense ghosts fade as you get older) to fight off the spectral forces using iron, silver and magnesium. Ghosts are particularly dangerous in this world - if one touches you, you die.
So if you want more ghost hunting infused with talking skulls in jars, humour, horror and found family, please consider watching the show!
Featuring:
- Anthony Lockwood as Shane (he likes to taunt the ghosts)
- Lucy Carlyle as Ryan (she is a little more empathetic toward them)
For your consideration:
