Maharashtra Anganwadi Workers are staged a protest in Mumbai.
All of the anganwadi workers in Maharashtra, numbering around 200,000, have been engaged in a strike since December 4th of the previous year in support of their various demands. They are now organizing a march towards Azad Maidan in Mumbai, with plans to hold a rally on Wednesday to protest against the State government. If their demands remain unaddressed, they intend to commence an indefinite strike at the venue.

Asha Ganpat Sonavani, a 65-year-old with 40 years of experience as a cook, expressed her concern over the poor quality of food provided to the children. She pointed out that they are only receiving boiled chana with salt, whereas in the past, children used to enjoy a variety of nutritious meals, including pav-bhaji, dry foods, snacks, sprouts, pulao, khichdi, and sometimes fruits. Moreover, the anganwadi workers are troubled by the lack of a pension scheme, leaving them with insufficient savings for retirement.
The anganwadi workers, who initiated their strike on December 4th, have reported no communication from government officials regarding their demands. They are calling for an increase in the daily food budget for children, from ₹8 per child to ₹24 for malnourished children and ₹16 for others. In rural areas, workers resort to door-to-door requests for pulses and cereals to feed the children, while in cities, the self-help groups provide hot cooked meals of subpar quality.
Shubha Shamim, president of Anganwadi Karmachari Sanghatana, affiliated with CITU, and convener of Maharashtra Anganwadi Action Samity, as well as vice president of All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers and Maharashtra State Anganwadi Staff Action Committee, reiterated the workers' demands.
Rubal Agarwal, ICDS Commissioner, Mumbai, Maharashtra, refuted the allegations, stating that many of the demands fall under central government policies beyond their control. He emphasized that the Women and Child Development Department had already increased building rent for Anganwadi centers and raised the remuneration from ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 in April 2023. Additionally, plans were in place to issue mobile phones to all Anganwadi centers.
Mumbai, with 3,500 anganwadi workers, faces challenges in providing proper facilities. Visiting anganwadis in Dharavi's slums, it was evident that each center operates in a small, cramped space of 8/10 square feet, shared with the residents. Typically, each anganwadi caters to 40 to 50 children. The teachers struggle with space limitations and rent issues, often having to take children out during lunchtime due to space-sharing arrangements.
The inadequate rental rates and cramped conditions also affect the residents who share their homes with anganwadi worker and the children they serve. In some cases, anganwadi workers are forced to sit outside locked rooms that are meant to be their centers, accommodating numerous children and mothers.
In light of these challenges, the anganwadi workers are demanding increased rental rates, with higher rates in metro cities like Mumbai, and towns and rural areas also adjusted accordingly. They are also pushing for the government to recognize them as employees eligible for gratuity and a minimum pension of at least ₹3,000 to assist with their medical expenses, citing a Supreme Court judgment from April 2022.

Navratri: A Celebration of Faith and Devotion
As the festive vibes start rolling in with the advent of autumn, the Hindu calendar becomes rich with multiple festivities, and Navratri is undoubtedly one of the most significant among these. Navratri, literally meaning 'nine nights', is not just another celebration in the cycle of Indian festivals; instead, it carries a deep spiritual essence and represents a heartfelt expression of faith and devotion.

Primarily, Navratri is an elaborate spectacle of devotion dedicated to the goddess Durga and her various forms. It is celebrated twice a year - once at the onset of the summer season, known as Chaitra Navratri, and then at the beginning of the autumn season, known as Sharad Navratri. However, it’s the latter that most individuals think of when the word 'Navratri' is mentioned.
Commenced with the new moon, each night of Navratri symbolically represents a stage of the spiritual journey undertaken by a devotee. The breaking of the fast involves sharing meals amongst family and friends including dishes like sabudana khichdi, aloo vrat ki kadhi, kuttu ka dosa, etc.
What makes Navratri such a captivating celebration is its sheer diversity. From the eastern belt of Bengal, where it is celebrated as Durga Puja with vivacious pandals and intricate idol making; to the north, where the last day known as Dussehra reenacts the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana; and to the western states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, which becomes a riot of color and dance - Navratri manifests in a myriad of ways but with one common thread - reverence for the Goddess.

The Anupama 27th December 2022 episode opens with Anuj telling Anupama that age is just a number and she shouldn't worry about seeming nervous about it .
They are far more seasoned than the other younger guardians, according to Anuj, and Anupama may threaten anyone if things get out of hand with her. 
Anuj responds that others will befriend him because of his attraction when Anupama inquires about his strategy. 
The guardian praise Anupama for lending her her home for the pratice and for introducing them to her. 
Leela observes  Anupama working cooperatively with other parents and remarks that, aside from Pari, Anupama thinks frequently about each and every child.
Ankush informs Leela that he and Barkha made the same mistake she did and have followed their lead.

Ankush dies after giving Leela advance warning that anyone attempting to ruin Anuj-pleasure Anupama's will be despised. 
Everyone in the house needs to offer free advice, says Leela with a stern expression.

Anu asks where Anuj and Anupama are while enthusiastically inviting the family members.
Ankush informs Pari that Anuj is leaving his workplace and will be there shortly.
After learning more about Anupama, Anu becomes uneasy, but Samar and Dimple reassure her that Anupama will arrive soon. 
While Anuj arrives at the scene with vigour in his eyes, Anupama works to finish her kitchen fill-in as soon as possible .
Along with Anu and Anupama, Anuj greets everyone and asks if everything is set up behind the stage . 
Anuj's joyful disposition is disturbed when Barkha informs him that Anupama is on her way, and he rushes inside to keep a watch on Anu.
Anupama rushes to finish preparing food for Leela while crashing her knee into the table in the interim.
Anupama becomes restless when she notice the time, so Leela asks her to sit still while she administers the medication.
Anupama responds that she is heading outside and will be there in a flash when Anuj phones and asks where she is . 
Novertheless, Leela stops Anupama from behind as she attempts to leave the house, calling out in terror.
Anuj is furious because Anuj starts crying about how the opposition will eventually start.
Anupama is arriving, but despite Anuj, Samar, and Dimple's efforts to reassure her, Anu complains that her mother broke her promise.
Pari is regurgitating, and Leela informs Anupama to take care of her. 
when Leela observes Anupama obsessively monitoring the time, she determines whether the dance is more important than Pari's life.
Anuj engages in conversation with the host as the capability starts and takes over the stage with his jovial talk to somewhat extend the duration.
Anupama scrambles to get in the car prays to God to get there before the opposition passes.

How Long Does Love Last?
I have pulled an all nighter to write this chapter and I have to say that I am very proud of this one. 
Literally, instead of sleeping, I spend the night writing this, watching Undertale videos and reading fanfics.
Well, please, enjoy!
Chapter 3: Apocalypse
“Get the hell out of here!” Aiden can hear Aru scream, as he gets his bag and slams the 5th door of this week. It is surprising that any neighbor has complained.
Aiden wears a stoic expression, in a desperate attempt to hide his mixed emotions. A mix between anger, sadness and confusion.
He walks silently to the nearest park, the same one in which Aiden and Aru had many dates, so full of nostalgic memories.
Aiden sits in an old, kind of rickety bench and sighs heavily, as he covers his face with his hands.
Why have things to be this way? He thinks as he retires his hands from his face and admires the view.
The Cherry Blossoms are as beautiful as always, the pink petals slowly falling into the lake, covering its surface. In the background, kids run around the playground, some are enjoying the cinnamon buns from the cafeteria.
As he sees the kids play, Aiden remembers how much wanted kids of his own. It was a dream that he and Aru used to share, until, well, things went to the ditch. Aiden can still imagine a small kid with Aru’s round, dark eyes but with little blue sparkles, just as his.
Aiden shakes his head, trying to push away his fantasies, because they are just dreams that aren’t possible.
Aiden deeply sighs again, reaching for the phone in his pocket, dialing the number that he knows way too well.
The phone is immediately picked up.
 “Ammamma?” Brynne asks through the phone, with evident worry in her voice.
“I’m coming over. Be there in 10.” Aiden says, it is a statement not a question, as he already knows the answer to it.
“’k, I’ll be waitin, but you ok?”
“We’ll talk later.” Aiden ends the call.
 Aiden heavily gets up of the bench, directing himself to the nearest portal with direction at New York, to Brynne’s and Hira’s place

It takes him a while to get to it, but when he finally does, Aiden walks silently through New York City and takes the subway that goes to Brooklyn.
The subway moves smoothly underground, the station pass and pass. To be honest, Aiden would prefer other method, because looking at all that happy couples, sometimes with kids, is starting to make him sick.
Why can’t he be happy as they are? Why thing went so wrong? Is it my fault?
These are constant thoughts that flood his mind, forcing himself to look away when he feels the tears starting to grow in the corner of his eye
Should I have thinking before proposing to her?
This is the main question on his mind, as his feet follow the path that he knows by heart, the stairs are way too familiar for him, especially in the last months.
And there it is, the door to Brynne’s and Hira’s apartment.
Aiden’s fingers tremble as they reach for the doorbell and the tears are almost escaping from his eyes.
He doesn’t even need to ring the bell, Hira is already opening the door, her concerned light hazel eyes look directly into his and pulls him into a warm hug.
Aiden hugs her back, letting the tears flow freely and lets out some sobs. His knees are trembling and the only thing that prevents him from falling to the ground is the strong way Hira is holding him close.
Aiden hears some hurried footsteps, and the next thing he sees is Brynne with a soft blanket on her arms. She adds herself to the hug, giving him the warm that he didn’t knew that needed so bad.
After some minutes of standing in the doorway, holding him close and Brynne’s hand stroking his hair and Hira consolations, the couple pulls him to the living room’s comfy couch.
The house smells like an Indian restaurant, Brynne was definitively cooking before Aiden came. He wishes some of that familiar food.
Hira stays close to him as Brynne puts a blanket on his shoulders and softly calms him down.
Brynne hugs him tight when Hira leaves to the kitchen and immediately returns with a bowl of Khichdi, which he accepts thankfully.
Aiden eats slowly, enjoying himself with the comforting Khichdi, which gives him a sensation of safety.
Brynne puts on his favorite documentary and the three of them cuddle, Hira is singing soft lullabies and Brynne cleans the tears from his face until Aiden falls asleep.

Aru takes a sip from the glass of water; her throat is horribly aching and the salty tears fall in the kitchen’s floor.
Aru can feel some little taps on her head. Maybe it is the headache or her soul sisters are trying to contact her. She just hopes it isn’t Brynne ranting at her.
“Aru?” Sheela says at the same time, her voice echoing on her head.
Aru doesn’t reply and remains silent until a memory hits her.
They are young again, sitting at the Night Bazaar and Sheela is talking in a singsong voice.
“-n her birthday and anniversary. The only sad thing was that she loved one brother more than all the rest.”
Sheela’s eyes immediately direct to Aiden’s direction.
“Even lifetimes later?” Sheela asks to herself.
Aru takes a deep breath, as her heart clenches in her chest and the tears are now constantly falling.
“Sheela,” Aru says slowly and her heart breaks with every word she pronounces “Years ago, yo-you said that Arjuna and-d Draupadi love each other even lives times later. Are you sure that it is true? Why is our marria-age falling?”
The line stays silent, a heavy atmosphere surrounding the area. Aru expectantly waits for the answer, if she has it, maybe she could fix things.
“I don’t know.” That’s Sheela’s answer.
Aru’s heart fully breaks in a million pieces, her head hurts as hell.
And her world is falling apart.

i’m no good with words

As a child, I had crumpled up paper with poems and feelings written on them in the back of my cupboard, side of my bed and in very special days, torn up in the bin. I was embarrassed that I felt the need to express myself in words. It felt too raw. Art was a very pretty looking mask for all that I was feeling. Very acceptable so my mum wouldn’t ask who’s the boy that I’m writing about. I can just draw him and say mom, he is imaginary. It was culturally appropriate to imagine a fairy tale. Very wrong and dirty to live it.Till date I struggle to find words, write and rewrite emails, love letters and captions  words don’t fail me’ I fail words. I know exactly what I’m feeling and I’m desperate to communicate it but the feelings don’t attach themselves to words but everything else. I cry easily. I get angry often. I fall in love easy. I love and obsess over the lyrics of a song, a good story teller and my favourite, someone who completes my sentences when I’m feeling it all and words are not catching up.
This year, I attended a poetry workshop conducted by my new friend that I instantly felt very comfortable with. Interacting with a someone who writes poetry feels very comforting to me because I’m always in the fear of being caught for feeling too much and expressing. I can’t get caught here. They know, love and appreciate feelings. To me, they are the most ‘sorted’ people. Imagine being able to feel and give a name to the feeling and to be able to communicate and connect with people that way? IMAGINE. He gave me and around 30 other people prompts to write poetry. He asked everyone to recite their poetry. I was so fascinated by everyone’s courage and a small part of my either judging them for being so true to their feelings or jealous that I’m not like them. I’m not sure which one I was. My friend noticed that I hadn’t recited and I decided to one day share my poetry with him when i’m ready.
I draw for a living. I get to express myself and get paid for a living. I wonder a lot why I chose drawing as the medium and so grateful that it stuck but I dislike the reason why it did. Art was acceptable, likeable and didn’t make anyone feel uncomfortable. Heck I don’t even draw nudes for myself. When a female teenage Disney Star outshines post teenage years into a bold, sexy, unapologetic woman I applaud her. I seek some sense of achievement with her because god alone knows if I would ever be able to outgrow my shell of ‘likability’
I’m not a good writer. My thoughts are jumbled. Maybe thats why I journal a lot. I know that stories are supposed to have a beginning middle and an end.  Whenever I write these, I stop somewhere when I have made a few different khichdis out of few different thoughts and deep down I know they are working towards this common epiphany but I never quite find the words to that epiphany. Believe you me all that I said on top has narrowed to this one big thing. I don’t know what this big thing is called except that I do know. As a 26 year old I still operate they its appropriate for a 12 year old, middle class, Indian girl from a good family is supposed to operate it and I don’t know how to break out from it. There. I said it. (but doesn’t matter lol no one reads this blog)

BLAZING INFERNO
The Fires and rampage at the student campuses in Delhi has led to so much misery and damage... so many lives lost and property razed to the ground. 
At the same time, the bushfires in Australia have been a cause for concern and have equally led to so much misery and damage...

The first one is man’s doing. The second is God’s. Why is it happening? Is there a lesson in it for mankind? 
Fire is one of the five elements that go to make the universe. Fire can be a useful friend or a deadly foe. The same fire goes to light the stove in your kitchen. The same is used to light a flame in the temple. And the same flame is used for doing the last rites of the mortal remains of a man. The fire is the same. The usage and the purport is different. 
There is a lot of anguish being expressed over the loss of lives of koala bears and kangaroos in Australia. While it is extremely painful, I wonder how the loss of these lives is more painful than when man slaughters animals to satiate his own desires. 
Man is supposed to be the crest jewel in God's creation. Man is the only one who has the faculty of discrimination. He can distinguish between right and wrong. Did you ever hear anyone say ‘Animalkind’? Or ‘Birdkind’? Why is it then that humans are referred to as ‘Mankind’? Are we presupposed to be kind? But then, are we really kind? 
Whatever is happening now in the world is really far from being kind. 
All living beings breathe the same air. Have you ever heard of Indian breath or American breath or Australian breath? Breath is Breath. That's it. 
If you ever need go to a blood bank and ask for blood, would you ask for it by Blood group or would you ask for Hindu or Muslim or Christian blood. Blood is Blood. Period. 
Think of a world where everyone looks exactly the same, dresses identically; has the same size of face and physique, speaks the same language; eats the same food... Wouldn't it be terribly monotonous? 
Even for the smooth working of a home or organization, the members have to be given different roles. Work allocations are as per capability and age etc. The dress worn has to be compliant with the job profile. Diversities in attitudes and practices are natural and should be appreciated. Why should we want one iron-clad, uniform, hard faith? What purpose would it serve? 
Last summer we happened to spend a few days in Mangalore. The Mangalorean cuisine was finger licking delicious! When I really thought about what was so good about it, I realized that it was nice, only because it was different from our native Punjabi food. A change is always nice. When we go out for a meal, we want to eat something other than the routine food we eat at home. Why? Because whatever is different is attractive! 
Then why do different faiths of people not appreciate each other’s culture and belief? As a child, I remember eating the delicious sevian kheer that Daddy's friend Khurshid uncle sent over on Id. I can still taste the yummy Christmas cake that Donny uncle brought. At the same time Daddy's friends would enjoy the gulab jamun and rasgullas that Mama would make on Diwali; the khichdi on Maghi and the Halwa poori channa on Ashtmi.
Those days were happier. We never felt that our Muslim or Christian uncles were apart from us. They were just different; and that's what made them nicer! 
I wish the camaraderie of the yesteryear comes back. We breathe the same air, we share the same motherland, we share memories, we have the same blood in our veins... 
Let’s douse all the fires together. Be they in JNU or in Australia. Let’s douse the fire in our hearts. Let’s douse the fire before it burns away all of mankind. Let the mayhem end.

Whatever fruits are available, what vegetables he should be eating in the month so ya...he quite enjoys it. Today he actually had Saag for lunch and he normally didn't like it but  I have been shoving it down his throat so now he's got used to it so he actually ate the food,” informed Kareena.
