TWST Club Scenes: Pop Music Club
Summary: Lilia brings a homemade snack to a club meeting
♦️Cater: You ready for another productive club meeting?
☀️Kalim: You bet! (pulls out a bag of chips) I brought those super spicy chips you've been wanting to try!
♦️Cater: Score! Bestie, you know me so well~! #snacktime #spice is life!
☀️Kalim: (looks around) Is Lilia not coming today? It's not like him to be late-
🦇Lilia: (kicks down the clubroom door while holding a large food container) GREETINGS CLUBMATES!
🦇Lilia: My apologies for the delay. I ran a bit late in preparing today's snack.
Cater & Kalim: (exchange a look of silent dread)
🦇Lilia: Khee hee, well I won't keep you in suspense any longer. Behold! (takes the lid off the container with a flourish) My brand new cookie recipe!
Cater & Kalim: (look into the container at a bunch of dark gray lumps in different shapes and sizes)
🦇Lilia: Go ahead! Take as many as you want!
♦️Cater: (nervously plays with his hair) O-oh wow! Thanks, Lilia! I really appreciate all your hard work but you know I'm not too fond of sweet stuff, right?
🦇Lilia: (gives Cater an exaggerated, teary-eyed pout) You mean, you're not going to try even one?? After all the time and effort I put into them??
Cater & Kalim: (exchange another a look, sigh in defeat, and then take one "cookie" each)
♦️Cater: (carefully inspects his cookie) It's…a very interesting color.
🦇Lilia: That's probably from all the squid ink!
♦️Cater: SQUID-?! (starts coughing from surprise) Squid ink?! And what's this bright red part on the bottom?
🦇Lilia: Hmmm? Oh those must be the cinnamon jelly beans! (winks cheekily at Cater) I put those in especially for you~!
♦️Cater: (a combination of terror and panic rising in his face) Ahahaha oh WOW!! How thoughtful!! Kalim! You've been silent this whole time! Do you have anything you want to say about Lilia's cookies?
☀️Kalim: (slowly looks up from his cookie with a look of utter confusion) My cookie…has a bone in it??

Here's another super useful example of two Hebrew words with different meanings that differ only in the syllable stressed, and how one can help you remember the other:
Syllable stressing in Hebrew is much more than a linguistic detail; it can change the entire meaning of words. That is why, in the Practically Speaking Hebrew course, we dive into these essential pronunciation nuances using my PSP (Phonetic System for Pronunciation). By mastering stress patterns and how sound them effectively, you avoid confusion and communicate clearly with precision.
Consider 'Tahini', the beloved sesame paste, which rolls off the tongue with a stress on the second to last syllable: /t-‘khee-nah/. Shift the emphasis to the last syllable, and you have /t-khee-‘nah/, the noun for 'grinding' in Hebrew.
Now, while you're likely new to the Hebrew noun meaning ‘Grinding’, you probably know how to say 'Tahini' in English, if not in Hebrew. Because 'Tahini' is relatively close to the Hebrew /t-‘khee-nah/, use that to remember the word 'Tahini' in Hebrew, and add a mental note that the noun ‘Grinding’ in Hebrew (just like the sesame seeds that are ground in the process of making Tahini) is the same word, just moving the syllable stressed to the end.
So, whether you're perfecting your Tahini or Hummus recipes or navigating Hebrew conversations, remember: Pronunciation and syllable stressing are key! And if you want to transform your Hebrew skills, comment the word SPEAK to get my video all about the Practically Speaking Course.

Prompt 8: Fire Characters: Lilia + Viz (OC) (Mild Chapter 7 Spoilers) -----------------------------------------------------
"HHHRAUGH!!" Viz panted a bit as she watched the wood in front of her split like butter under Lilia's magearm for what must have been the millionth time. She was almost positive Sebek had mentioned it at one point, but she couldn't bring herself to care enough to remember what he said. Besides, the dull axe Crowley had gifted her caused her more pain than it did to contribute to warming up the house, and Lilia had given her permission to use HIS tool. Cutting firewood was something she had done since she was nine, so it wasn't an issue of skill or anything. The magearm simply worked better. Lilia chuckled softly behind her, offering her a glass of water. "It works well, right? And the yelling just makes it feel so much better." She stood up straight, smiling at him a little breathless as she took the water and took a few sips. "It really does. Especially in weather like this? It's nice to have a really effective tool. I won't need to cut wood when it's negative way too freakin' cold out now. Thank you." She hefted the magearm out of the stump it was lodged in and offered it back to Lilia, the handle towards him. He took it, looking it over it fondly before heaving it across his back and moving to sit on the stump, and letting the weapon rest against the remains of the tree. "Did you even notice how much wood you cut?" He took a sip from his own glass, shooting her a bit of a mischevious glance. Viz found herself confused, then finally registered the amount of firewood she had chopped, gasping softly before laughing at herself. Lilia soon giggled along with her. An almost ridiculous amount of wood sat scattered and piled in the snow. "Dear Seven I'm set for six winters!" "Or, you're set for mmmmm sixty something campfires? You could make one now and every day from now if you wanted to over the winter." She looked at him in confusion. "I only had to make those if I had no access to home. Why would I make one now??" Lilia's eyes widened a bit, but chose to ignore her comment about access to home in order to answer her question instead, laughing softly. "Khee hee hee, you've never had a campfire for fun? In that case, I'll set it up for you. You just call your friends over and you can have a grand old time here and stay warm. You should invite Cater too, tell him to bring his guitar. I'm sure he'd love to play a tune or two so long as it stays warm enough." The faint pink on the girls cheeks did not go unmissed by Lilia, though she would undoubtedly wave the flush off to the cold. "Will you be staying too?" The question surprised him a bit, but he thought it over before shaking his head. "I've got another friend I'm meeting with online later. Once you're set, I'll head out." She smiled a bit. "At least let me send you to Diasomnia with some cookies. And...please...don't add your own twist to them like you did last time. I want feedback on my recipe please...." The old fae laughed a bit. "Ah, fine I suppose I can adhere to that request. Thank you." After setting up the fire and successfully attaining a tin of cookies, Lilia took his magearm and headed to Diasomnia. It was a shame he didn't have more time. He could have taken her in like Silver if he did. But she would learn in due time....hopefully not before he ran out of it.

Reading This Week
I am back home and reading like my life depends on it! I'm going to start working through articles I have saved to my computer bookmarks and such
Abandoned:
Pregnant Butch by A.K. Summers i tried! i've been meaning to try reading this for ages! but i got turned off by goodreads reviews saying theres a transphobic screed in the middle, and then just not clicking with the storytelling style.... oh well...
Finished:
The Secret to Superhuman Strength by Alison Bechdel (colored by Holly Rae Taylor) I kinda stayed up later than I technically meant to finish reading this. Bechdel really is a fantastic memoirist
Started & Finished:
As Yet Unsent by Tamsyn Muir tbh, kinda wish i'd read this before Nona so that I would have a tad more context for like the connections between the other House characters. but this was pretty great as a quick read, and really enlightening for the inner life of a character that I never really cared about before
"I wrote a story for a friend" by Julian Gough this is the personal essay by the guy that wrote the Minecraft End Poem about the trouble surrounding its creation and copyright. I find it kinda funny when he's like "the capitalism game makes me sad bc it gets in the way of the art game and the friendship game.... but there's nothing inherently wrong with the capitalism game!" he's got the spirit but ain't quite there yet yknow? anywho. one day I will actually beat Minecraft and read the story in its proper context!
What Did You Eat Yesterday? Vol. 1-5 by Fumi Yoshinaga, translated by Maya Rosewood (1-3) and Yoshito Hinton (4-5) now I did not intend for reading this manga to be a christmas season read, but somewhere in the beginning of vol 2 or 3 it was just christmas season within the manga itself!! anyway this is a pretty chill slice of life manga, half cooking/recipes, half daily life for a middle aged gay couple in 2000s Tokyo, and it's been a fun easy read
Nectar edited by Tab Kimpton & Harry-Anne Bentley most thoughts remain in my private journal for this one, but I can say that kinda like the last one only like 2 or 3 of the stories within actually like. worked for me on an artistic style level. still delighted that this exists
Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 2-3 by Bisco Hatori, translated by Kenichiro Yagi while i'm enjoying the nostalgia of reading the manga version of a childhood anime, i find the panels of this really difficult to read? also this is the last volume available through my library so i probably won't read more for a while
Decolonizing Queer Games and Play from First Person Scholar, edited by Khee Hoon Chan:
Editorial by Khee Hoon Chan A Boy is a Gun: Weaponizing Black Gender in Video Games by Oluwatayo Adewole Unmaking and Undoing: A Trans* Reading of Katamari Damacy by Julie Fukunaga Interviw with Caro Asercion by Olivia Popp
working my way through articles that i've saved to my bookmarks bar! i absolutely want to check out more stuff like this
Masters in this Hall by K.J. Charles now THIS is a deliberate Christmas read for me, as it's the surprise un-advertised Christmas novella from one of my favorite romance authors! it was fun and funnily enough, most of took place in the days following Christmas. it was fun to see Jerry again (this time as a side character), and kinda made me want to go reread Any Old Diamonds since it's been a couple years now
Started:
Secrets Typed in Blood by Stephen Spotswood YES YES YES i am only a few chapters in at time of writing, but i am so happy to be back with my delightful butch private detective duo. i've been waiting for this inpatiently ever since i finished the second book in the series and i'm so glad to be back to get my historical mystery fix
Hen Fever by Olivia Waite
this is another surprise christmas novella from a favorite histrom author and the cover is absolutely Delightful. i'm gonna try and savor it but i make no promises

As I prepare to leave Mexico City 🇲🇽 this Friday, I want to leave you all with some of the best vegan eats / spots in CDMX, should you visit the city. 🌱 Street Food: Esquites (ehs-khee-tehz). This street food is everywhere in Mexico City. You’ll either see it sold as a full cob or in the way you see here (kernels in a cup—these are esquites). When sold on the cob, it’s called “elotes” (eh-loh-tehz). Now, you’ll have to modify the original recipe (mayo, powdered cheese, chili) to exclude the mayo and cheese. However, the corn is cooked with all of these amazing herbs so even by itself, it’s wonderful!! You can also carry a little bag of nutritional yeast and put some one your corn when you buy it!!! 😋 It’s ~ $1 USD. 🌱 #mexico #mexicocity #cdmx #travel #travelblogger #seetheworld #vegan #veganfood #veganism #veganismo #vegano #northamerica #sustainability #ciudaddemexico #cdmx🇲🇽 #travelguide #traveller #travellers #travels #wanderlust (at Centro Histórico De La Ciudad De México) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs4MjGUAmM3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hkpen9qwts9g

Dakgalbi (Spicy Korean Chicken) recipe
Ingredients: •1/2 kilo of deboned drumsticks or chicken breast •3 tablespoons of soy sauce (Kikkoman, Lee kum khee, or Korean soy sauce) •7 cloves of peeled garlic, minced •1 tablespoon minced ginger or ginger paste •¼ cup hot pepper paste (gochujang) •⅓ cup hot pepper flakes (gochugaru) •½ cup cooking wine (mirim) or water-sugar solution (½ cup water and 1 teaspoon sugar) •½ teaspoon ground black pepper •1 cabbage (big), rinsed, cut into bite sized pieces •1 medium onion (about 1 cup), sliced •5 oz (1cup) rice cake (garaeddeok), cut into 2 inch long pieces •3 pcs sweet potatoes •1 small carrot (½ cup), sliced •2 green chili peppers, sliced •2 dozen perilla leaves Directions: •Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and put them into a bowl. Mix with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and ground black pepper by hand or a spoon. Set aside. •Prepare the sauce by combining garlic, ginger, hot pepper paste, hot pepper flakes, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and cooking wine in a bowl. Mix it well with a spoon. If you use a food processor, blend it until creamy for about 1 minute. •Prepare a large, shallow, and wide pan or a grill for the dakgalbi. Spread the cabbage on the bottom of the pan. Add the onion, green chili pepper, carrot, rice cake, and sweet potato. •Add the perilla leaves on top. You can cut them a few times or place the leaves whole. The leaves will shrink when cooked. •Put the marinated chicken in the center of the pan, on top of the vegetables. Put the sauce on top. •Cover and cook over medium high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir so the pan doesn't burn and the ingredients and sauce mix evenly. •Lower the heat to medium and cover. Cook for another 20 minutes, or until it's done keep stirring. •Now you can eat. The cabbage will cook first, followed by the rice cake, chicken, and sweet potato, so eat in that order. Keep the heat low during the meal. Cook, stir, eat, and talk. The pieces will be hot, so be careful! If the dakgalbi becomes totally cooked, turn off the heat. Best served with kimchi and pickled radish.
