As autumn was slowly moving towards its end, Spooky Day came around and, despite Emma being heavily pregnant at this point, the McGregor's decided to host a party for friends and family. They had bought lots of different sweets and decorated the house with pumpkins, some of them they had even carved themselves.

The party guests, apart from their close friends, were mainly the younger generation of Emma's extended family, although Charlotte was also there, being the youngest of the aunts and uncles and wanting to use the opportunity to dress up and visit her favourite niece.

Everyone had come in different exciting costumes, Sean and Darrel even had costumes crafted by their mother, though the masks came off as soon as sweets were involved. Knowing her sons well, Christine had painted their faces, too, as a backup. Emma and Niall had been lucky to find some promotional costumes of the new Snow White film at the studio, which they obviously had to make use of.

In the end, it was a fun night for all. Even though Kenneth and Harriet seemed to pretend it was not, to not come across as childish, they ended up leaving with smiles on their faces, just like everyone else.

The U.S. military presence in Okinawa has long been a source of fear and frustration, particularly for women in the local community. The safety of okinawan women has been repeatedly jeopardised by crimes committed by men in the U.S. service. These incidents have put women’s lives at risk along the years, since 1945.

Even if Okinawa was returned to Japan, U.S. military bases still have a significant presence to this day.

September 4, 1995: U.S. servicemen 22-year-old Marcus Gill, 21-year-old Rodrico Harp and 20-year-old Kendrick Ledet, rented a van and kidnapped a 12 year old Okinawan girl. They beat her, duct-taped her eyes and mouth shut, and tied her hands. Ledet, Gill and Harp then raped her. After being dumped on the side of the road, she managed to get help. The crime was reported to the police. When the three servicemen were caught, they explained that they hadn’t had money for a sex workers. “Let’s go rape a girl”, “It was just for fun.”The men served prison in Japanese prisons and were released during 2003.

April 28th 2016: 34-year-old Kenneth Franklin Shinzato, admitted to the rape and death, abandoning the body of 20-year-old Rina Shimabukuro. He stabbed her with a knife and struck her on the head with a bar so that she would not resist, killing her as a result.

February 10, 1995: the gang-rape of an elementary school girl by allegedly 38 year old Tyrone Hadnott.

December 24, 2023: 25-year-old member of the Air Force Brennon R. E. Washington, is alleged to have approached a girl younger than 16 in a park in the central part of Okinawa’s main island. Prosecutors say that he forced the girl into his car and took her to his home outside Kadena Air Base, where he sexually assaulted her.It took six months for the case to come to light and Okinawa Prefectural Government had no information about the incident during that time.

May 26 2023: 21-year-old Jamel Clayton U.S. Marine lance corporal in the prefecture, was indicted on June 17 for attempted rape and injuring a woman. He choked the victim, unbuttoning her pants, and attempting to rape her in Yomitan. The victim sustained injuries, including to her eyes, which required around two weeks of treatment.

These are just a very few cases, but there are dozens of rapes and assaults. Most of them are not out to the public for protecting the victims privacy and safety. Also many incidents go unprotected or remain unpunished.

Sure! They both studied in the same course. But they are very different.

Kenneth Rose: surprisingly, this noisy and self-confident rowdy was and remains the best student. You can try to catch him cheating as much as you want, but his biggest deception throughout his training is begging for a second portion in the dining room. Yes, he sometimes teaches Franklin and young patients bad words, intentionally or accidentally, but such dirty speech is quite expected from someone who spent most of his childhood in orphanage. A risky and clingy guy, smart, very emotional, sometimes overly straightforward and rude, but responsive and ready to lend a helping hand. Kenny was kicked out of law school, sang in the church choir before adoption, shuns his new family. Despite his small stature and seemingly fragile physique, he often stands up for others and is not afraid of a fight. Lucas Abbott: a quiet and introverted young man who rarely participates in the heated discussions of his colleagues. He prefers to look at noisy parties and activities from the outside, thinking about something of his own. But what exactly is going on in his head at these moments is a big mystery. He likes black humor, but no one he knows would dare to call Lucas evil, he is distant, cold and caring. Caring for seriously ill and bedridden patients is easy and natural for him, because it has been his daily routine for many years. Despite his oddities and introversion, he likes to be around someone. Lucas takes special medications, has hyperfixation on fairies, is fond of entomology and insect-like creatures. Vintage Menswear Summer

I've noticed a lack of options when it comes to summer menswear for the 1930s-40s, and I have a bunch of new characters coming up, so something had to be done. It kind of went out of hand I ended up making this huge set of recolours. Some of the items work for anywhere from the 1920s to the 1950s, maybe even later, so it can be useful for other generations, too. The tops and bottoms don't always work with each other, but I made sure there's always at least one for each that does.

Generation 1 Family Recap

Johnathan made a fortune as a writer, first of books and translations of the Book of the Watcher, then as a magazine writer for ETW. They have had 11 total blessings and will soon be entering elderhood.

Iris is the eldest Loomis child and the oldest of the first set of twins. Danny manages to keep the family going in their small house, bringing home a decent income as an artist. After a long moral battle, Iris also decided to start wearing pants.

Penny is Adam Loomis’ twin sister. As a teenager she leveraged her marriage to Damien as a way to escape her family’s vision for her life, and converted to the Scleran church. She now works as a scientist at a leading lab. Despite how their relationship started, Penny and Damien have grown to truly love each other, though neither of them want children.

Adriana and Joshua Loomis.

Joshua is the eldest of the Loomis’ third set of twins. Adriana is the third daughter of the Moore family, who originally ran the Irisite Newcrest church. Joshua disliked what he saw of his parents religion in regards to his twin brother, James, and his sister Penny. After marrying Adriana they both converted to the Scleran church and are happily childless. Joshua currently works as a local representative, and Adriana as an art critic.

James Loomis and Jonah Shearer, with James’ younger sister, Maxine Loomis.

Fundie Status: Ex-fundie

James (now Jamie) is Joshua’s twin brother. The night of his eighteenth birthday he and Jonah, the youngest of the Shearer children, eloped and ran away together to escape the homophobic Irisite church, each mutually deciding to leave religion entirely. Jamie is now a doctor at the San Myshuno hospital, and Jonah is part of a nonprofit, San My Pride. They are childless, though took in Jamie’s younger sister, Maxine (Max) after she was kicked out of the house by Johnathan Loomis. Since moving out Max has discovered that she is aromantic and asexual, and is developing her writing career.

Derek and Mary-Faith Loomis

Denomination: Eternal Teachings of the Watcher Megachurch, run by Geoffrey Landgraab. 

Fundie Status: Full Fundie

Derek was the first singleton child of the Loomis family, and is married to the eldest daughter of the wealthy Landgraab family, who founded the ETW. Theirs was very much an arranged marriage, and they used Loomis family funds to purchase this large house where they’ll live until Derek inherits the Loomis family home. They are expected to have many children to uphold the image of the ETW, which they will do, if reluctantly. Derek currently works at a position in the magazine writing department of the ETW.

Die Ships sind sowohl im romantischen, queerplatonischen als auch im sexuellen interpretier bar. Also was auch immer ihr lieber mögt.

Die Ships sind sowohl bekannte beliebte als auch unbekannte und welche die allein in meinem Kopf existieren, die ich aber persönlich interessant finde und vielleicht stimmen mir ja ein paar hier zu. (Vielleicht ist das ganze auch nur ein schamloses Ships in die Welt setzen, bei denen ich mir nicht sicher bin ob ich jemals dazu etwas kreieren werde. Ein paar waren auch nur dazu da die Ship Menge zu erreichen, dass es sich gut aufteilen lässt, aber sind mir dann auch spannend als Konzept vorgekommen. Fragt mich nicht wie ich’s zu 48 Ship Paaren geschafft habe.)

Ich würde mit den zwei Personen Ships anfangen. Ich habe versucht die Ships möglichst nach Beliebtheit gegenüber zu stellen, damit es relativ fair wird. Seite 1 und Seite 2 werden parallel laufen. Nach dem die 2 Charaktere Ships durch sind, kommen die 3 Charaktere Ships. Und zu letzt die 4 Charaktere Ships. Sowohl 3 als auch 4 Charaktere wird sehr viel kürzer sein.

The Palisades Fire’s Footprint

The Palisades fire ignited around 10:30 a.m. on January 7, 2025, near the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. By midday the next day, the fire had grown to over 11,000 acres (44 square kilometers), and after one week, it had consumed nearly 24,000 acres (97 square kilometers) of wildland and developed areas.

The images above, acquired on January 14 by the OLI-2 (Operational Land Imager-2) on Landsat 9, show the area affected by the fire. In the natural color image (top), visibly charred areas stretch to the north and west of Pacific Palisades. Several lines of bright red or pink fire retardant dropped by aircraft appear along the perimeter of the burned area.

The false-color image (lower) combines shortwave infrared, near infrared, and visible components (OLI bands 6-5-3) of the electromagnetic spectrum. This band combination makes it easier to identify unburned vegetation (green) and recently burned landscape (light to dark brown).

The 1,052 acres (4 square kilometers) burned by the Kenneth fire, which was active January 9–12, appears at the top of both images. This brush fire prompted mandatory evacuation orders, but no structures were damaged by the blaze, according to news reports. Near the coast and adjacent to the Palisades fire’s burned area, land previously charred by the December 2024 Franklin fire remains visible in and around Malibu.

These false-color images provide a more detailed look at the landscape before and after the Palisades fire’s rapid growth. An image acquired on January 6 by the OLI on Landsat 8 (left) shows the older burned area around Malibu, while areas east remained mostly vegetated with several patches of bare ground. Comparing that image with the one acquired on January 14 (right) helps reveal the Palisades fire’s footprint, not only in the more vegetated wildland areas but also in developed zones.

On January 14, the Palisades fire was still considered active, and Cal Fire reported it was 18 percent contained. While the department had not indicated any growth in the fire’s area since January 12, it cautioned that the potential was still there. A red flag warning was in effect through the evening of January 15.

NASA’s Disasters Response Coordination System has been activated to support agencies responding to the fires, including the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. Response activities are centered on two primary requests from the local emergency managers: damage assessment information on built infrastructure, and impacts of air quality and human health risks. The team will be posting maps and data products on its open-access mapping portal as new information becomes available.
