La storia parla di Amleth, un giovane principe che un giorno assiste alla morte di suo padre. Ciò che è peggio è che il padre…

Dan Kennedy’s Recommended Books
If there’s one thing we know about grumpy no B.S. marketing legend Dan Kennedy, it’s that he’s a prolific reader. Throughout his resources – books, presentations, audio recordings, courses, and more – Kennedy will often drop the names of books he suggests reading. Here we’ve compiled Dan’s many book recommendations. This list, however, should not be considered comprehensive. So, keep reading to…

A day full of love has mysterious ways of pulling people together; whether that's in friendship, romance, or complete strangers being in the right place at the right time. The interactions someone may have on the greatest day of love has the opportunity to influence them for a lifetime. This is your chance. Take it. Have that interaction with someone you may have never met before or maybe someone you haven't spoked to in a long time. Experience a day full of love.
Details of the Task:
This task was designed for characters to interact with others whom they may not have interacted with before. The pairings between characters were generated using an online randomizer and then again randomized to link that pairing with a Valentine's Day related word. This task is REQUIRED. Members are asked to reach out to their match and plot a thread based on the random word they were given. * If a member is on hiatus, threads may be granted an extension. Admins will be in contact with those members.

POLTERGEIST (2015)
Poltergeist (2015): A Reboot That Haunted the Wrong Neighborhood
Title:** Poltergeist (2015) (They really thought we needed another one?)
Genre:** Spooky with a side of PG-13 (More jump scares than existential dread)
⏳ Runtime: 1h 22m (Just enough time to grab popcorn before hiding under the blanket)
Made in: The U-S-of-A (Land of haunted Suburbia and Hollywood reboots) ** Year:** 2015 (The year remakes were basically a five-course meal)
** Simple Plot:** Family buys a fixer-upper with a side of angry spirits, things get weirder than finding Legos in the dryer, youngest daughter becomes the ultimate ghost magnet. Cue the CGI galore.
** Cinematography:** Slick and polished, like a haunted mansion featured in Architectural Digest. But lacks the raw, unsettling charm of the original's practical effects. Think less "bone-chilling stop-motion skeletons" and more "jump scares edited on iMovie."
** Memorable Scene:** The "swimming pool surprise" where tentacles make a splash (pun intended). Bonus points to Kennedi Clements (Maddie) for holding her breath like a champ! (Maybe chlorine just wasn't her thing?)
** Overall Review:** This remake is like the watered-down version of the 1982 masterpiece. No new spine-tingling twists, just a reheated plate of nostalgia that left me longing for Tangina's legendary barbecue. Feels like they built a haunted house out of Pinterest boards and forgot the actual scares.
⭐ Rating: 2 out of 5 stars. Passable for a lazy Saturday afternoon when even Netflix is asleep, but don't expect to be haunted by its brilliance. You'll be reaching for the remote faster than Carol Anne grabbing that clown doll.
** Fun Fact:** Did you know Kennedi Clements is basically Aquawoman? While filming the pool scene, she held her breath for over a minute! Now that's dedication (or maybe just a strong aversion to poolside gossip).

My sixteenth work for A Year In Shaftal, the Elemental Logic fandom event hosted on @shaftal
Prompt 9. Music: a playlist/fanmix
A collaboration with @samwisestouthearted, my girlfriend and Taylor Swift & k.d. lang & LOTR Musical consultant. Cover art by me.
Track descriptions below the cut:
Winter Folk Carol (O'Hooley & Tidow) "Now near forty winters old/Still searching for a hand to hold" It’s winter in Shaftal, and two profoundly lonely women are about to meet.
Treacherous (Taylor Swift) "And I'll do anything you say/If you say it with your hands" The gravity would indeed end up being too much.
Stay In The Dark (The Band Perry) "Oh, it feels so good tonight" The one-night stand.
January Hymn (The Decemberists) "Maybe I should just let it be/And maybe it will all come back to me" The second time. Clement is not what she seemed. She sleeps beside her soldiers, not Seth. Seth watches her go in the morning.
Sleeping Queen (Amythyst Kiah) "What of this world?/Foucoult was right, we just discipline and punish" Clement, in the struggle that will end with her choosing peace.
Calling Me (O'Hooley & Tidow) "February/Broken ground/Mother Nature's fingers/Reaching/For my own" Seth, at the end of a plodding Basdown winter, about to be called to the Council.
Innocent (Taylor Swift) "Did some things you can't speak of/But at night you live it all again/You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now/If only you had seen what you know now then" Seth can see that the General’s uniform isn’t the real Clem.
Falling Slowly (Once) "You have suffered enough/And warred with yourself/It's time that you won" “Do you continue to be all Sainnites? Or are you, sometimes, yourself only?”
Can We Make A Deal? (Jasmine Kennedy) "And I quite like/The way you make me want to try and cast an eye over myself/And not hate what I see there" Seth must know her entirely if she is to know her at all.
Make Me Feel (Janelle Monae) "You know I love it, so please don't stop it" A passionate night in Travesty.
Sigh No More (Mumford & Sons) "Love, it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you/It will set you free" Seth returns from her voyage. Clement is broken. But all may not be lost.
Song of Hope (The Lord of the Rings) "Warm wind from a far, forgotten country/Long left behind" Water brings Clement back to Seth.
This (k.d. lang) "You ask me to find/You an answer/Of what you and I/Could be" “It takes two to hold on. You’ll have to teach me how, probably.”
Wildflowers (The Wailin' Jennys) "You belong with your love on your arm/You belong somewhere you feel free" The Sainnites loved flowers.

Thoughts at 7pm...
I tag my books in Calibre with people and places and things I think will come up again and again across books.
This can be a slow and agonizing process, but I find that I keep coming back to it over and over again, because I’ll read a book years later that mentions a battle on Hill 488 and think... fuck, what book was it that I read about that from someone else’s perspective?!!?!?
Tags help with that.
I don’t tag everything, or everyone... just stuff I have a feeling will come up over and over, and yet for a single book I’ll end up with this:

Description:
The leader of one of the most successful U. S. Marine long range reconnaissance teams during the Vietnam War, Andrew Finlayson recounts his team's experiences in the year leading up to the Tet Offensive of 1968. Using primary sources, such as Marine Corps unit histories and his own weekly letters home, he presents a highly personal account of the dangerous missions conducted by this team of young Marines as they searched for North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong units in such dangerous locales as Elephant Valley, the Enchanted Forest, Charlie Ridge, Happy Valley and the Que Son Mountains. In numerous close contacts with the enemy, the team (code-name Killer Kane) fights for its survival against desperate odds, narrowly escaping death time and again. The book gives vivid descriptions of the life of recon Marines when they are not on patrol, the beauty of the landscape they traverse, and several of the author's Vietnamese friends. It also explains in detail the preparations for, and the conduct of, a successful long range reconnaissance patrol.
Review:
Finlayson has a very particular point of view on the war, and warfare. Throughout the book, he is constantly made aware that his actions and behaviors are both dangerous and obsessive. Yet, even though he acknowledges it, and says he takes it to heart, he still has the narcissistic bent to ignore them and feel that his way is the right way.
That’s both a positive and a negative.
His teams brought the war to the enemy and were immensely productive as far as kills and intelligence gathered. At the same time, they were in many ways reckless and dangerous.
God loves a fool and who dares wins are basically how he operates.
Overall though, the book gives you great insight into HIS way of running recon teams, and how Team Killer Kane/Swift Scout operated, the gear they took, the places they operated in, and who the people were. His writing style is quick paced and gives you a good sense of his thoughts and emotions and allows you to understand where his head was at and what he experienced.
While there were a few errors, especially in regards to keeping track of a persons rank (one page they’re corporal, next they’re a sergeant), and the weapons (carrying my m-14, and had 5 magazines of 5.56mm), the book is well done.

Academic Blog 2: Tools - Resident Evil
Since Karl Friedrich Trahndorff first came out with the term "Gesamtkunstwerk" in 1827 and Richard Wagner later explained it. "Total concept of "work of art" is constantly evolving. Wagner pictured an art form that harmoniously integrated multiple formulates, with drama as its peak (Wagner, 1849). Now, in the modern era, video games also combining visuals, narrative, sound, and interaction into "Gesamtkunstwerk". This blog will examine the Resident Evil vedio game, known for its survival horror elements, emphasizing its ability to blend media and create immersive experiences.
Figure 1. Cover of "Resident Evil 4 Remake"
Resident Evil embodies Wagner's saying of a "total work of art," combining different areas of art and technology to create a cohesive horror experience. The series, and specifically Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023).
The story is carefully depict to provide a compelling plot about the Main player Leon S. Kennedy rescue mission as cinematic storytelling. And the lighting designed stunningly detailed environments that evoke tension and fear, immersing players in a world troubled by infected villagers and monsters. As to sound design, such as distant footsteps or creaking wood, amplify the suspense. Furthermore, The player's direct interaction, from solving puzzles to strategic combat, deepens the immersion and connects all these elements in an interactive "total work."
Figure 2. Leon in battle
Despite its overall artistic qualities, Resident Evil also embodies medium-specific elements by utilizing the unique capabilities of video games. Clement Greenberg's concept of purity in art, in which each medium operates within its unique boundaries (Greenberg, 1940), can be used to analyze the medium-specific properties of games.
Unlike movies or novels, video games allow players to influence outcomes, navigate the environment, and engage in combat, creating a personalized experience. The game borrows cinematic techniques such as framing and depth of field, but uses them in an interactive way, making the player an active participant in shaping the visual narrative.
These medium-specific characteristics emphasize the role of interactivity in reshaping traditional storytelling, distinguishing video games from other forms of media.
Figure 3. Atmospheric environment of biohazard
Wagner emphasized a unified viewing experience, but Resident Evil can be played on a variety of devices with different graphics capabilities, resulting in a diverse player experience. The conflict reflects Rosalind Krauss’s idea of the “postmedia condition” (Krauss, 2000).
Studying Resident Evil through these theoretical lenses highlights the transformative potential of video games as artistic and cultural artifacts. As an artist or practitioner, examining such work highlights the importance of collaboration from different fields and the tools to create emotionally resonant experiences. Furthermore, it reveals how mixed media can push boundaries and foster new forms of artistic expression while challenging traditional categorizations.
