Put On Your Raincoats | A Coming of Angels: The Sequel (Williams & Guido, 1985)
Tumblr media
So, the reason I watched this is that I’d believe that it was actually directed by Maria Lease, whose filmography has yielded some pleasant surprises as I’ve been exploring it this year. I see now that the Letterboxd page no longer shows her as a director, and I suspect she’d been mistakenly credited earlier as the film shows little of her signature.  And should you still doubt my auteurist motivations, I’ll have you know that not only did I not watch the first movie beforehand, but I have zero direct experience with the Charlie’s Angels TV show on which this is based. So I cannot attest to how it compares to its inspiration.
From what I gather, of the Angels, Annette Haven is the only returning member from the first movie, which I guess makes her the Jaclyn Smith of this series. She’s joined by Ginger Lynn and Kelly Nichols, who among other things, get it on with each other, and while I must reiterate that I haven’t seen a single episode of Charlie’s Angels, I’d wager that Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts never got it on with each other. For it would have been Too Hot For TV. Also they were in different seasons, if the Wikipedia article isn’t lying to me. So it would have been impossible, unless one of them made a guest appearance. Surprisingly you don’t get Rhonda Jo Petty or Nancy Suiter in this, as they were initially promoted based on their resemblances to Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Ladd, respectively, but as the tactic invited a lawsuit in the latter’s case, I can understand why the filmmakers decided against it.
Anyway, what I’m getting at, aside from reading the Charlie’s Angels Wikipedia page, is that a lot of your favourites are here. I was pretty happy to see Colleen Brennan, she of the impressively toothy smile, who gets the best line in the movie.
"Young lady, if you're any kind of investigator, you can see that I'm quite drunk. And if you talk to my husband, the distinguished senator, you know that I'm frequently quite drunk. And furthermore, if you had been married to that chromium-plated son of a bitch as long as I have, you too would probably be frequently quite drunk."
Alas, she’s not in it nearly enough, for if it were up to me, this would be wall-to-wall Colleen Brennan scenes, or anytime she’s not on screen, the other characters ask, “Where’s Colleen Brennan?” But yeah, if you like any of the performers, you should have a decent time. As a porno thriller, it’s pretty whatever, and it must be said that the Angels are pretty bad at their jobs based on the ending. But there are nice bits of style throughout, like a shot where Eric Edwards picks up and moves Ginger Lynn from one room to the next while the camera pans like a pornographic sidescroller.

Camp Pleasant Lake Review: An Uninspiring Dip into the Horror Genre
Tumblr media
Horror enthusiasts frequently seek films that promise an intriguing premise, spine-tingling suspense, and characters whose fates you’re compelled to care about. Thomas Walton's Camp Pleasant Lake aims to check these boxes but falls dramatically short in its execution, making for a murky cinematic plunge that leaves viewers more befuddled than frightened. A gripping horror story initially sounds like it could be rooted in the reopening of an old campsite, which has a narrative drenched in a dark, unresolved past. Yet, what ensues is a convoluted plot that is as stagnant as the titular lake's waters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brCD7XPKfoM The cast, headlined by Kelly Lynn Reiter, Jonathan Lipnicki, Leila Almas Rose, and James Di Giacomo, portrays the Meadows family, who are entangled in a haunting series of events following their decision to resurrect the once-abandoned campsite. While the setting could offer a rich backdrop for a tale of suspense and supernatural occurrences, Camp Pleasant Lake mismanages its assets, leading to a narrative that feels both underdeveloped and overambitious. The Bad: Kelly Lynn Reiter's portrayal of Echo Meadows, the driven family matriarch, doesn't resonate. Despite Reiter's efforts, the character's emotional depth and connection to the unfolding mystery feel superficial. Jonathan Lipnicki takes on the character of Jasper Meadows with a determination that is palpable yet ultimately hindered by the script's limitations. Leila Almas Rose and James Di Giacomo deliver performances that mirror the film's inconsistency. Thomas Walton, both at the helm of writing and directing, crafts a storyline that intertwines the Meadows family's present endeavors with the chilling past of a young girl's disappearance two decades prior. This setup fails to deliver on its promise of blending past and present horrors to thrill audiences. The film's attempt to invoke supernatural elements as a mechanism for unraveling the camp's gruesome history is lackluster. The manifestations of these forces often come off as clichéd and predictable. It strips away any potential for genuine fear or engagement. Instead of leveraging the camp's eerie setting, Camp Pleasant Lake opts for an array of tired horror tropes. They do little to refresh the genre or provide audiences with novel frights. Visually, the film navigates through its scenic, albeit ominous, campsite locale with a semblance of ambition. Pacing and dialogue issues undermine the visuals.. The cinematography fails to enhance the story's eerie undertones, fluctuating between competence and clumsiness. Perhaps the most sad aspect of Camp Pleasant Lake is its underutilization of the compelling premise it sets up. The idea of a family unknowingly entangling themselves with a site that harbors dark secrets carries inherent appeal. Yet, the film’s exploration of this premise is surface-level. It squanders the opportunity to delve into the psychological and emotional depths such a scenario could unearth. Instead, the narrative meanders. It focuses too much on establishing a mystery without effectively laying the groundwork for a satisfying revelation or conclusion. Overall: Camp Pleasant Lake is a film that teases the possibility of horror but fails to deliver. Mostly on the suspense, character development, and narrative cohesion fronts. The movie falls short of its potential due to ambitious but incomplete execution. It's advisable to skip this visit to Camp Pleasant Lake and set their sights on clearer, more chilling waters.

Who do you think is the Phantom actor who played opposite more Christines?
I was thinking Scott Davies or Jeremy Stolle since they were sb and us for a lot of time
Possibly, but I think compared to some other names, they haven’t played opposite as many Christines. Here’s Stolle’s likely list:
Jennifer Hope Wills
Marni Raab
Susan Owen
Sara Jean Ford
Trista Moldovan
Samantha Hill
Sierra Boggess
Mary Michael Patterson
Sarah Bakker
Julia Udine
Rachel Zatcoff
Ali Ewoldt
Rachel Eskenazi-Gold
Kaley Ann Voorhees
Eryn LeCroy
Meghan Picerno
That gives him 16 Christines, which is a good number, but not as high as others, probably because many of the Christines he played with had long runs (Marni Raab) or kept returning (Sara Jean Ford, Kaley Ann Voorhees), plus the understudy Christine throughout his time has generally been the same person, Elizabeth Welch. Keep in mind too that it’s not guaranteed he’s played with all of these women either, most especially Sarah Bakker. And I also didn’t take into account that period of time when he left the Broadway production to be in something else.
And it pales in comparison to a likely list of Scott Davies’s Christines:
Zoe Curlett
Katrina Murphy
Joanne Pullen
Charlotte Page
Meredith Braun
Colleen Patrice Taylor
Claire Louise Hammacott
Deborah Dutcher
Gina Beck
Tabitha Webb
Sofia Escobar
Katie Hall
Claire Doyle
Katy Treharne
Anna O’Byrne
Ashleigh Fleming
Harriet Jones
Olivia Brereton
Emmi Christensson
Celinde Schoenmaker
Lisa-Anne Wood
Maria Coyne
Bridget Costello
Amy Manford
Kelly Mathieson
Corinne Cowling
That gives Davies a whopping 26 Christines, maybe with 1-2 more understudies that I couldn’t find. And keep in mind that I have audios of him with almost all these women, unlike with Stolle.
But I look at Stolle and Davies and raise you an Ian Jon Bourg:
Sandra Joseph
Susan Owen
Marie Danvers
Megan Starr-Levitt
Lori Zeglarski
Alison Kelly
Valentina Kozhanova
Olivia Safe
Colby Thomas
Janine Kitzen
Kristin Holck
Marion Wilmer
Maike Switzer
Sandra Danyella
Beatrix Reiterer
Martina Rumpf
Anne Gorner
Sarah Elizabeth Combs
Kristen Hertzenberg
Kristi Holden
Emilie Lynn
Claire Lyon
Sara Sarres
Clara Verdier
Megan Ort
Meghan Picerno
Caitlin Finnie
Kaley Ann Voorhees
That’s 28 Christines, not counting several understudies that he might also have performed with on the US tour, Vegas, and the World Tours.
Operafantomet also made this post where she suggested both Peter Karrie (anywhere from 16-19 Christines) and John Owen-Jones (19 Christines at the time, but that post was written 8 years ago and so did not include his 2015-2016 London run, which would add Celinde Schoenmaker, Emmi Christensson, Lisa-Anne Wood, and Harriet Jones as an emergency cover to the list - 23 Christines!).
So there you have it.
