a report from today (Oct. 15): last night a six year old child was murdered and his mother stabbed in chicago by their landlord. maher kawash reports that "it's being investigated as a hate crime" and that "i'm told the victims are palestinian". this anti-palestinian hate crime is DIRECTLY the result of american and western media and government backing and cheering on the ongoing genocide of palestinians.
yesterday (Oct. 14) the fbi reportedly warned of "uptick of threats" which is being spread by other media outlets. this is not an accident. american media and government are doing propaganda on israel's behalf in order to justify palestinian genocide. the idea that the united states is "under threat [from arab or muslim terrorists]" is a LIE. it is a PURPOSEFULLY spread LIE that is meant to continue manufacturing consent for the GENOCIDE of an entire people who have been subject to murder, brutality, displacement, and humiliation since 1948. this kind of propaganda is going to get arab, muslim, and brown people hate-crimed and killed. it has ALREADY happened and will continue to do so as the genocide continues and the US media apparatus and government are complicit.
the U.S. experiences violence on almost daily basis, but not because of those who the media deems Other - not arab people, muslims, immigrants, brown people, or black people. the largest domestic threat to the united states are WHITE SUPREMACISTS. police kill around 600 people per year. the U.S. government and media treat weekly school shootings and instances of gun violence like unfortunate instances of bad weather as opposed to entirely preventable events.
you MUST be aware of and actively push back against media and government collaborating to create another wave of racist, islamophobic hysteria. you MUST remember that colonial powers such as the u.s., canada, and france will do anything, ANYTHING, to justify the genocide being committed by a fellow settler-colonial state.

Totally Random Non-Fiction Tuesday
Milk is complicated. I’d read a few articles in the past that indicated that the milk we drink today as adults (and kids too) is a complicated thing. But, I didn’t realize just how complicated and just how much milk has changed and is all mooshed together with us as humans and with human civilization until I read this book.
As the title oh so subtly implies, it’s about Milk. From 10,000 years ago when we started domesticating animals, to the Greek creation myth where we get the whole ‘Milky Way Galaxy’ name, to pasteurization, to the serious industrialization of milk, and so much more.
Such a fun book, so much info, so little time.

Three men were killed and another was hurt in a hit-and-run crash on the city's South Side early Sunday morning, Chicago police said. Witnesses and family members told ABC7 this began as a fight inside of a bar overnight and continued outside before it turned deadly in an instant. Two of the victims killed have been identified as 27-year-old Devonta Vivetter and 25-year-old Donald Huey, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The crash happened at about 5 a.m. in the 7000-block of South Jeffery Boulevard in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. Video shared with ABC7 shows the horrific crash at 70th and Jeffery as a group of men appeared to fight in the middle of the street. We've frozen the video right before the deadly impact. A sedan was traveling southbound when it struck the four men, who were standing in the street. Vivetter's cousin said the fight started steps away inside of The Jeffrey Pub. Several shoes were seen scattered on the pavement, showing just how violent the crash was. The vehicle fled the scene, police said. Three victims were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, police said. Another man was transported to Stroger Hospital, Chicago fire officials said. He is in serious, but stable condition. Now, residents are calling for more to be done to stop this reckless and careless driving. Police are still looking for the driver of that sedan that kept driving, following the deadly crash. The bar released a statement on social media, saying, "Our hearts are heavy this morning that such a tragic event has occurred. And to those that lost a loved one or friend we stand with you. We always encourage everyone to leave and go to your vehicles right away to make it home safe." —Tre Ward, Maher Kawash & Stephanie Wade, ABC 7 Chicago Follow @inkagnedotv https://www.instagram.com/p/ChSHAJMOvAf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

TikTok school shooting threat has Chicago area districts taking precautions
สล็อตเว็บตรงไม่ผ่านเอเย่นต์ TikTok school shooting threat has Chicago area districts taking precautions Police say post warning of Dec. 17 attacks not credible By Liz Nagy and Maher Kawash Friday, December 17, 2021 6:33PM
EMBED <>MORE VIDEOS A school shooting threat on TikTok promising nationwide December 17 attacks has Chicago area schools taking precautions.
PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- An unfounded threat of school violence spreading on the social media app TikTok has prompted several Chicago area school districts to respond Friday.
Police say there is absolutely no indication the threats are credible. Some districts like in Park Ridge have stepped up patrols as a precaution.
"This is just something where someone posted and is encouraging violence in the schools," said Tom Gadowski with Park Ridge police. "Very simple. I don't want to go any further than saying that there's an encouragement of violence."
The anonymous posts circulating online warned that schools across the country would receive shooting and bomb threats Friday. The posts also encourages students to stay home.
SEE ALSO | Evanston Township High School lockdown lifted after 2 guns found
EMBED <>MORE VIDEOS Evanston Township High School went on lockdown Thursday after two guns were found in ETHS, police said.
Authorities believe the threats are not credible. Still, some police departments are stepping up their presence around schools, ready and alert for anything out of the ordinary..
"Every police department takes any type of threat very seriously, whether it was a note that was left in the bathroom or social media that now has a national platform," Gadowski said.
Chicago Public Schools told parents in an alert, "The post is vague and not directed at a specific school, and is circulating around school districts across the country," adding, "Please do not re-share any suspicious or concerning posts on social media."
Several suburban school districts sent similar warnings.
"If the school does their part there's no need to worry," said John Davis, parent of a Main South High School student.

The superintendent at Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 sent in his note to parents, saying there will be an increased police presence at buildings on Dec. 17.
Barrington School District 220 also notified its community of the national threats. School officials said Barrington police have confirmed the threats are unsubstantiated at this time and there is no viable threat to students or staff.
District 220 also said it will add police support, in addition to its school resource officer, over the next several days "as a precautionary measure to reassure students and staff."
TikTok says it was working with law enforcement to investigate and that it, "handles even rumored threats with utmost seriousness."

Glenview Police Department said it is aware of the threat and encouraged "everyone to remain vigilant," but added that there is no credible information that it is related to any school in Illinois.
Glenview police said they will continue to patrol all school grounds in the area. Suspicious activity should be reported to police, the department said.
Chicago Public Schools' Full Statement Regarding Online School Threats Dear CPS Staff, Parents, and Families,
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are writing to let you know that the District and Chicago Police Department (CPD) are aware of a viral TikTok post warning of nationwide threats that will supposedly take place on Friday, December 17, 2021. The post is vague and not directed at a specific school, and is circulating around school districts across the country.
At this time, there is no known threat to any CPS facility, but we are taking this threat extremely seriously and are working with CPD. Should any safety concerns arise, they will be investigated immediately and thoroughly following CPS protocol to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.
Safety is a collective responsibility, and I would like to emphasize the importance of using social media responsibly. Please do not re-share any suspicious or concerning posts on social media. Instead, if you or your child see something resembling a threat, the most impactful step to take is to report it to your school immediately so that we can investigate the situation as soon as possible. If it is outside of regular school hours, please email the information to [email protected].
Thank you very much for your support.
Sincerely, Jadine Chou Chief Safety and Security Officer Chicago Public Schools ________________________________________ Estimados colegas, padres y familias de CPS,
Atentamente,
Jadine Chou Directora de Seguridad y Protección Escuelas Públicas de Chicago Full Statement on Circulating Social Media Information from District 207
Dear Families,
We are writing to share with you information related to messages on Tik Tok regarding national school violence that would take place on Friday, December 17. The Des Plaines Police and the Park Ridge Police departments are both aware of these nonspecific national messages being circulated. They have both indicated after investigation that these threats are not credible.
Out of an abundance of caution, there will be extra police presence at our schools tomorrow in addition to our school resource officers being at our schools as usual.
As we have shared previously, if a parent or student has information about the safety and security of the school they should call 9-1-1 or utilize the anonymous alerts system at https://www.anonymousalerts.com/mainetownshiphsd207/.
Given the number of recent social media threats locally and nationally, it is also important for parents and students to know that IF we are made aware of a credible threat against our schools, we will be diligent and act swiftly. That means involvement of the police and other authorities, notification of our families and taking all safety measures to protect students and staff in our schools. It is unfortunate that social media is being utilized in this way by a very small percentage but we will remain diligent in our efforts. We look forward to a normal school day tomorrow as we close out the first semester of school. It has been wonderful to have students at school learning for the past 5 months. Have a wonderful break!
Sincerely, Dr. Mike Pressler, Maine East Principal Dr. Ben Collins, Maine South Principal Dr. Eileen McMahon, Maine West Principal Dr. Anna Hamilton, Frost Academy Principal
Full Statement from Barrington School District 220 on nationwide viral TikTok post
Dear Barrington 220 Community,
Barrington 220 has been made aware of a national threat circulating on TikTok regarding gun violence in schools. More specifically, these TikTok posts seen in school districts across the country, threaten nationwide violence in schools on December 17, 2021.
Upon learning this information, district leaders contacted the Barrington Police Department. The Barrington Police Department has confirmed that these threats are unsubstantiated at this time and there is no viable threat to students or staff. No reports or posts have included Barrington 220 schools specifically.
As a precautionary measure and to reassure students and staff, in addition to our School Resource Officer, we will have added police support over the next several days as part of our standard response procedures. As they are everyday, school social workers will also be available for students who may need support.
"If you see something, say something" is a phrase that we share with our students often. We encourage parents to talk with their children about being watchful of any behaviors, including online and over social media, which would result in harm to anyone. If a student witnesses any harming behaviors it should be reported immediately. For information about reporting incidents anonymously, please visit the Safety 220 page on our district website.
While we are all aware of the positive and negative effects that social media can have on a student's life, this can be an opportunity for families to discuss the importance of internet safety, physical safety, and mental health. For additional resources, please visit the SEL/Mental Health section on our website.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority and we commit to offering a safe and secure educational environment. สล็อตเว็บตรงไม่ผ่านเอเย่นต์

Nonfiction Thursdays - May 3
Welcome back to Nonfiction Thursdays, where we find nonfiction books that won’t put you to sleep!
This week’s book is Candy: A Century of Panic and Pleasure by Samira Kawash:
“For most Americans, candy is an uneasy pleasure, eaten with side helpings of guilt and worry. Yet candy accounts for only 6 percent of the added sugar in the American diet. And at least it's honest about what it is—a processed food, eaten for pleasure, with no particular nutritional benefit. So why is candy considered especially harmful, when it's not so different from the other processed foods, from sports bars to fruit snacks, that line supermarket shelves? How did our definitions of food and candy come to be so muddled? And how did candy come to be the scapegoat for our fears about the dangers of food? In Candy: A Century of Panic and Pleasure, Samira Kawash tells the fascinating story of how candy evolved from a luxury good to a cheap, everyday snack. After candy making was revolutionized in the early decades of mass production, it was celebrated as a new kind of food for energy and enjoyment. Riding the rise in snacking and exploiting early nutritional science, candy was the first of the panoply of "junk foods" that would take over the American diet in the decades after the Second World War—convenient and pleasurable, for eating anytime or all the time. And yet, food reformers and moral crusaders have always attacked candy, blaming it for poisoning, alcoholism, sexual depravity and fatal disease. These charges have been disproven and forgotten, but the mistrust of candy they produced has never diminished. The anxiety and confusion that most Americans have about their diets today is a legacy of the tumultuous story of candy, the most loved and loathed of processed foods.Candy is an essential, addictive read for anyone who loves lively cultural history, who cares about food, and who wouldn't mind feeling a bit better about eating a few jelly beans.” (Description from Goodreads)
We recommend this book for foodies and health enthusiasts!

Hello again, do you mind asking my guides if kawashe is still with me?(he was one of my guides) and also is there any messages they have for me about someone I lost who was very important to me? Or about my weight loss journey? Thank you :) -Camille
Hello dear, those are some very loaded questions haha. I will try my best to answer them briefly.
Yes, he is still with you. He’s one of your spirituality guides.
Yes. There is a message about someone you lost who was dear to you. I see a friendship that is almost like a family member. This person seemed to have been a very creative and young soul. I think you loved them a lot, like they were your sun. I see childhood friends, good friends, family, and soul family. I don’t know how you lost her, but the message is for you to have strength!
The message regarding your weight loss journey is this. There are people who are doubting you, yes. And you’ve let their doubts and comments affect your emotions about your weight loss journey. You’ve consciously or not split your emotions where you will feel upset, but not show it. The message here for you is that there is an entire world out there, waiting for you to show them what you’ve got. Don’t let a few people stop you. It may feel like you’re losing in this situation for a while, but in fact, the more effort you put in to yourself, the more you come out on top. Keep going!
I hope this has helped you!
