So ayun na nga, sobrang busy and pagod ako lately kaya di ko na din nakwento yung takbo ko sa Asics Rock n Roll Running Series Manila last Sunday, pero ang wild ng experience na yun hahaha. I planned and started training more than 2 months before that event but a lot of things happened — I got sidelined for two weeks due to flu, then got busy with job hunting, then later on with taking care of my requirements, and in between all that I was also still managing reservations at our vacation place and helping out with my siblings’ respective businesses.

Anyway, by the time November rolled around I still had very little practice, and the fact that I planned my training around “long, easy runs” didn’t help me develop the strength and speed I needed to smash this run.

The event was scheduled in the wee hours of Sunday— gun start for my distance was at 2:00 AM. The least I could do was adjust my sleeping hours and make sure that I was getting enough sleep, but my sleeping schedule was shit that week. I had to wake up at 2:00 AM on Wednesday to accompany my sister Kat with her deliveries, then ganun ulit nung Sabado.

Bilang may guests kami nung Sabado, di na ako nakatulog ulit pagkauwi namin. Ang plano ko sana matutulog ako sa hapon then gigising ng alas diyes ng gabi pero di na ako nakatulog kasi busy sa pag-assist sa guests and pagtulong kay Kat magluto ng mga order ng guests. Alas otso na kami natapos magluto, and by that time pagod na kami pareho.

Ang usapan namin ipagda-drive ako ni Karl kaso nagkataon birthday ng girlfriend nya nung Sabado and late na sya nakauwi so ayoko na magpa-drive sa kanya at baka antukin sa daan. Ganun din si Kat alam kong pagod din yun bilang magkasama kami mula madaling araw. Napagdesisyunan kong magbyahe na lang bilang alam ko naman na may mga bus pa din na bumibyahe pa-Manila kahit late na. Sabi ko basta makarating ako ng Pala-pala kasi halos lahat ng bumabyaheng bus tumitigil dun. Eh di nung may dumaan na jeep na Pala-pala sumakay agad ako kaso putek di pa nakakalayo yung jeep biglang may lumampas na bus na pa-Manila. Sayaaaaang.

Tapos tangina yung driver ng jeep lahat na lang ng kanto tinigilan. Pagdating sa Silang Bayan tumambay pa sa antayan para magkape at magyosi. Mag-aalas dose na nakarating sa Pala-pala yung jeep tapos wala na yung mga bus. By 12:20 AM nawalan na ako ng pag-asa and thought I would miss the event for sure, I was literally wiping away tears of disappointment in the middle of the empty road, patawid na ako para umuwi when I saw a taxi approaching. Nabuhayan ako ng loob, pinara ko pero di ako tinigilan, buti naka-stop yung traffic light sa intersection so hinabol ko yung taxi hahaha. Pero di pa dun natatapos ang pagsubok ko, supposedly 1 hr lang byahe pag ganung oras pero pagdating sa may Imus sobrang traffic, yun pala may road closure kasi inaayos yung kalsada. Ni-redirect kami na bumalik and sa looban dumaan kaya lang naipit din kami dun bilang makitid yung daan and lahat ng sasakyan dun pinadaan. Pumihit ulit yung driver tapos sa Salitran - Daang Hari na sya dumaan then ang labas eh sa Bacoor. Ang ending past 2:00 AM na ako nakarating sa venue, nag-start ako exactly 2:20 AM. Buti na lang 2:30 ang cut off sa starting line.

Despite my lack of sleep and the stress of almost missing the event, I was still able to manage my run splendidly — I recorded a negative split and finished race in less than 2 and a half hours. I couldn’t help but feel emotional when I reached the finish line.

I lingered in the venue for a bit then got my stuff sa baggage counter at bumyahe na agad pauwi — may order na breakfast yung guests namin so I needed to help in the kitchen, then pagka-check out nila may guests ulit sa gabi bilang long weekend so kailangan ko ulit maglinis hahaha tangina kuracha yan?

At dahil dyan buong week na yata akong nagbabawi ng tulog at pahinga, I’m still doing chores and running errands here and there but during my down time nakahiga lang ako either natutulog or nanonood ng The Big Bang Theory. And to that I say, “dasurv.”

Mercedes-Benz Philippines Launches New Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Mercedes-Benz Philippines proudly revealed two of its latest models during an exclusive launch event held at its Greenhills showroom last May 8, 2025. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Plug-in Hybrid and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Plug-in Hybrid are two new icons that redefine sustainable luxury through innovation, efficiency, and unmistakable design.

The special media event was graced by selected VIPs and personalities including Inchcape Philippines board member Felix Ang and representatives from the German Embassy in the Philippines. It was also an opportunity to reveal the newest brand ambassador of Mercedes-Benz Philippines, Ms. Iza Calzado.

Everyone was excited for the exclusive premiere of the latest electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. The event was held at the Mercedes-Benz Greenhills showroom with wines, cocktails, and canapés served to early guests.

Hosting the evening's festivities was Stephanie Zubiri who delighted the crowd while waiting for the countdown to the big reveal.

This is the 2012 Summer Station ID of GMA. The Summer Station ID was themed “Iba Ka-Summer Ang Kapuso”.

The Summer Station ID Theme song is Everything is Awesome! which is from the 2012 movie The Lego Movie which celebrates the 80th anniversary of Lego since it was created in 1932.

The Summer Station ID contains the international crew members like Luchi Cruz-Valdez, Pinky Webb, Korina Sanchez, Pia Arcangel, Connie Sison, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Martin Nievera, JC de Vera, Robert de Niro, Will Smith, Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, Derek Ramsay, Bea Alonzo, Marian Rivera, Willie Revillame, Raymond Bagatsing, Bayani Agbayani, Christopher de Leon, Aga Muhlach, Arcee Muñoz, Eula Caballero, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Lawrence, Janice de Belen and Howie Severino featuring Alice Dixson and her boyfriend Gregg Homan and the other TV5 crew members at the very end.

The Summer Station ID also contains The Negative 10 cast members from the 2002 movie Frozen like Don Rickles as Jack Torrance, Michael Clarke Duncan as Freddie Krueger, Sean Connery as Leatherface, John Travolta as Leatherface, Jason Statham as Travis Bickle, Liam Neeson as Hans Gruber, Hannibal Lecter, Nick Nolte as Norman Stansfield, Christian Bale as Alonzo Harris and Charlie Murphy as Karl Heisenberg.

The Summer Station ID clips have re-used the music videos of Without Me and The Real Slim Shady from Vanilla Ice and even the Happy music video from Toy Story 3.

This is the only Summer Station ID to feature the foreign crew members.

Sadly, Aga Muhlach and JC de Vera left GMA in 2010. But Luchi Cruz-Valdez, Alice Dixson, Arcee Muñoz, Eula Caballero and Willie Revillame already left GMA in 2005 when TV5 was launched in May 5, 2005 after the last days of ABC-5 which was May 4, 2005. Somehow, Other actors like Raymond Bagatsing and Bayani Agbayani moved to ABS-CBN in 2005 while a female newscaster named Korina Sanchez already left GMA in 2000. But Derek Ramsay, Bea Alonzo and Marian Rivera were former GMA stars in the early 90's before moving to ABS-CBN in 1995 and then TV5 in 2005.

okay first, i didn't know he called me atmeng. baka nasanay kay jhie cuz they call me that 😂 and second, i didn't know na pati sya used to wonder why i'm still single. i thought boys don't really read much into it, i just assumed na wala silang pake when it comes to things like that. apparently, i'm very wrong. hahahaha and third, choice ko lang naman to, and i still haven't found the one yet. di naman ako super inexperienced cuz i've entertained suitors before, talagang nagkakaproblem lang along the way when they start revealing who they really are lol, and last, di naman ako nagmamadali (i think?). and naaccept ko na rin na maybe i won't find mr right in this lifetime kasi i'm already 25, baka ang true purpose ko is to navigate this life alone, and eventually die alone. i made peace with that naman na. but it's still nice to feel kilig sometimes, hehe :")

Naisip na din namin na mag-share na lang sa large but quickly rejected the idea kasi parang bitin.

So we resolved na next time tigisang medium na bibilhin namin pero ganun pa din nangyari, we couldn’t resist yung thought na 20 pesos lang, pwede na kami mag-upgrade sa large. Ang point talaga is di kami maka-get over dun sa 20 pesos only na price difference between medium and large.

“Tingnan mo, ang laki ng price difference between small and medium, 60 pesos, tapos yung sa medium at large 20 lang? Bat ka magme-medium kung ganyan lang kaliit yung difference?

We theorized na ang goal talaga ng llao llao is to get people to choose the large tub over the small and medium tubs by making them compare yung sizes and prices. Small is too small (despite being reasonably priced) so you’d want to get a bigger tub. Then when you look at the prices of the medium and large tubs, maiisip mo na with their prices, mas sulit nang bumili ng large tub kesa medium tub. If you insist on choosing the medium tub, you’ll be haunted by the thought na 20 pesos na lang, mas madami na sana frozen yogurt and toppings mo.

Tawang-tawa kami everytime pipila kami sa llao llao kasi di na kami natapos kakaisip sa pricing nila. Until yesterday habang nakapila kami Karl excitedly exclaimed, “Ate Kaye alam ko na solusyon sa problema natin! Oorder ako ng large tapos umorder ka ng small tapos kuha ka na lang sakin pag bitin ka.” Between the two of us, naubos namin ang small and large frozen yogurt na masaya hahahaha problem solved. Karl Lagerfeld: Porównanie autobiografii i biografii

Na fali miniserialu biograficznego Disney'a i kilka lat po śmierci wielkiego projektanta mody i fotografa Karla Lagerfelda, postanowiłam pochylić się nad jego życiem na przykładzie dwóch wydawnictw.

Pierwsza pozycja "The World According to Karl(...)" stanowi księgę maksym, cytatów pełnych błyskotliwości i mądrości, z których wyłania się ta fascynująca postać:

"Wiem tylko, jak grać jedną rolę: siebie".

Wydana po raz pierwszy w 2013 roku, została poprzedzona wstępem Patricka Maurièsa. Wspomina on o wielu wymiarach osoby Lagerfelda, o jego prywatnej odsłonie i tej publicznej. Wszystko uświetniają eleganckie ilustracje autorstwa Charlesa Ameline'a.

Wyłaniający się z rozdziałów portret projektanta prowokuje do oceny w kwestii wierności i prawdziwości jego kreacji. Są tu zatem zebrane z gazet, książek, wywiadów i dokumentów wypowiedzi Karla o życiu, modzie, stylu, Chanel, bogactwie, celebrytach ale też tzw. "karlizmy" czy przemyślenia o sobie.

"Moja autobiografia? Nie potrzebuję jej pisać. Ja ją żyję".

Z zacytowanych wypowiedzi wyłania się profesjonalista, który lubi porządek, pracoholik dążący do perfekcji. Nie brak tu kontrowersji jak np. przemyślenia na temat dzieciństwa czy psychoanalizy.

"Otaczam się młodymi i pięknymi ludźmi. Nienawidzę patrzeć na brzydotę".

Znaleźć tu można także błyskotliwe refleksje nad modą:

"Moda jest jak muzyka: jest tyle nut...należy się nimi bawić. Wszyscy potrzebujemy stworzyć swoją melodię. Moda jest grą, w którą należy grać na poważnie".

Nie brak tu figlarnych gier słownych:

"Jestem żywą marką (ang. label). Mam na imię Labelfeld nie Lagerfeld".

Wyraźnie przybiera kolejne maski. Kokietuje, w czym przypomina inną ikonę sztuki, człowieka renesansu i kultową postać - Andy'ego Warhola.

Jest więc szalony dla "normalnych ludzi", jest improwizacją. Jest 3 odrębnymi osobami, zależnie od tego, czy mówi po angielsku, niemiecku czy francusku.

Pomysły bierze ze snów. Praca jest jego jedyną miłością. Nie lubi pseudo-intelektualnego, quasi filozoficznego bełkotu na temat mody.

Są tu też zawarte i kontrowersyjne poglądy Lagerfelda np. na temat wagi modelek, polityki, finansów czy ludzi, generalnie.

Perełka:

"Zawsze marzyłem o tym, by mieć białe włosy. Suchy szampon to moja kokaina".

Specjalne miejsce zajmują tu wypowiedzi matki projektanta, Elizabeth. Traktuje je jak cenne rady czy zabawne słowa krytyki.

Dlaczego nosił wszędzie czarne okulary przeciwsłoneczne? Tego dowiecie się z tego zbioru.

Druga pozycja to pośmiertna biografia: "Karl Lagerfeld. Raj jest teraz". Została wydana w 2023 roku przez znającego swojego bohatera Williama Middletona, dziennikarza kulturalnego i m.in. dyrektora do spraw mody w magazynie "Harper's Bazaar". Za polski przekład odpowiada Magdalena Koziej.

Tytuł pochodzi od słów projektanta zacytowanych na początku wydania. Za fotografię z profilu na okładce odpowiada za to dobry znajomy Karla - Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

Po krótkim prologu, przenosimy się do świata Lagerfelda, a więc trzymanego w tajemnicy roku urodzenia. Podobnie jak Coco Chanel Karl odejmował sobie lat. Lata młodości zleciały mu pod znakiem niemieckiej literatury np. dzieł Goethego czy postaci historycznych Francji z XVII i XVIII wieku. Chciał być ilustratorem lub karykaturzystą, ale to moda nim zawładnęła. Na pytanie o źródło jego osobowości, Karl odpowiadał:

"Z pomysłu, jaki miałem na siebie w dzieciństwie".

Surowość matki, kontrowersyjność jej politycznych poglądów i doświadczenie II wojny światowej widocznie go ukształtowały.

Chociaż był imigrantem, to utrzymywał:

"Żeby być bardziej francuskim od Francuzów, trzeba być cudzoziemcem".

Wraz z autorem przyglądamy się pierwszym rysunkom Lagerfelda i nauce francuskiego. Pewnego razu zapowiada buńczucznie rodzicom:

"Wyjeżdżam, żeby zostać projektantem mody w Paryżu".

Spore wrażenie robi szczegółowość wręcz fotograficzna opisów oraz pewna tekstowa mapka ulubionych miejsc Karla np. z początków jego paryskiego życia w latach 50. takich jak kultowe kino Le Champo czy Cafe de Flore. Widać, że autor biografii podszedł profesjonalnie do pracy, gdy wspomina np. o zaskakującym odkryciu podczas przygotowań do aukcji przedmiotów po śmierci Karla. 

Middleton zresztą nie kryje, że miał okazję poznać swojego bohatera jeszcze w latach 90. Dzieli się osobistymi wspomnieniami, wskazuje też temat kontrastu między publiczną a prywatną personą Karla. Nie waha się także wybrać strony w relacji Lagerfeld- Saint Laurent.

Na kolejnych stronach stronach uwagą przygląda się najważniejszym związkom Karla - z matką, z przyjaciółmi, w tym z Yves Saint Laurentem czy miłością jego życia Jacquesem de Bascherem. Middleton odnotowuje także pracowite wspinanie się Lagerfelda na kolejnych stopniach kariery - od pracy dla Balmain przez projekty dla Chloe i Fendi po Chanel.

Zabrakło gdzieś tylko fotografii ilustrujących wydarzenia, zdjęć, skanów pamiątek czy projektów albo chociaż uwiecznionych nq zdjęciach pokazów z Chloe, Fendi czy Chanel. Wnikliwe opisy pokazów i sesji chociaż robią wrażenie, pozostawiają lekki niedosyt.

Co interesujące, Middleton nie jest przy tym bezkrytyczny. Dostrzega główną wadę bohatera i wymienia jego kontrowersyjne wypowiedzi np. na temat ruchu #metoo. I chociaż biografia ta jest hołdem dla Karla Lagerfelda i jego kariery w modzie, to jednak jej autor podszedł do niej ze szkiełkiem i okiem.

19 lutego 2019 roku świat mody stracił ostatniego wielkiego projektanta. I godnego następcę Gabrielle Chanel, której także dorównał talentem. A może ją nawet trochę przerósł...?

Hi Karl! Prolly ur not gonna read this unless isend ko sayo. Pero hey this is our last photo together as a couple. Seeing this photo is full of mixed emotions. I was sad kasi upon examining it, I see how tired you are based sa eyes mo. I know adult life is super hard and I see how you thrive to survive it everyday. I am happy naman because this reminds me of a happy day! It was your birthday! I hope you had fun that day kahit ngayon alam ko na you’ve been dealing a lot lately.

First of all, thank you! Thank you for the wonderful 7 years. If you would asked me if I regretted it? No. Kasi sa span of those years, I learned that I am deserving of love and you make me feel so special. Im really thankful kasi you’re always there for me whatever happens, you became the instrument for my healing and to know myself even better. Kung wala ka during those times, I wouldn’t be here kung nasan man ako ngayon din.

Salamat kasi nakilala kita ng higit pa sa pagiging kaibigan. Hindi ka natakot sumugal at ipakilala ang sarili mo sa akin. Siguro isa yun sa mga bagay na hinangaan ko sayo.

Ngayong nandito na tayo sa puntong ito, sa kagustuhan ko mang na walang magbago sa atin, I think it happens for a good reason. What you did Karl was so painful for me na up until now na sinusulat ko to is it made questioned myself. Where did I go wrong, saan ba ako nagkulang or may mali ba sa akin. Maybe it will become a constant loop of questions na hindi masasagot. Pero I just want to let you know na Im disappointed with what you did, pero not to you as a person. If you would asked me din if masakit? Yes. Oo kasi sa 7 years na yun Karl all I did was to love you unconditionally thou sabi nga nila, Love was not enough.

Hindi ito paalam, siguro more of pagpapasalamat din ito. You are my greatest love, Karl and kung meron man akong hihilingin ay sana maabot mo lahat ng gusto mo sa buhay even thou hindi na ako ang kasama mo para abutin ang mga yun. Pero andito pa din ako will silently support you from afar. I hope din na you get to appreciate me bilang tao at yung mga bagay na nagawa ko for you kasi it symbolizes my eternal love.

Letting you go was the hardest decision, I remember I said before na If mawala ka sa akin, I will forever blame myself for that. And maybe ito na yung time na yun. I may not be good enough or atleast a good partner for you pero I tried.

Sa totoo lang, namimiss kita sobra. Pero Im just glad na nandiyan ka existing. I hope you’re doing well.

I miss you not in a sad way, but the connection we had kasi looking back, sobrang ganda ng kwento natin Karl. If this was a movie, uulit ulitin ko siya. This isn’t coming from a negative place pero there are times na I steal away and made me think na Karl you would love to see this and that. I miss doing random stuffs with you.

You will always have a special place in my heart. Maybe we aren’t meant to be, and that’s completely ok. And as tragic our story was, gusto ko lang malaman mo na lahat ng bagay na nagawa natin ng magkasama ay mananatili sa puso ko and I couldn’t replace it for the world.

I will cherish and love all the memories we had.
