Kangana Admits Being Reprimanded By BJP

MUMBAI – Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, who is now a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, has acknowledged that she was reprimanded by her party, the BJP, for her controversial comment on the farmers’ protest.

The BJP distanced itself from her remarks, emphasizing that she is neither authorized nor sanctioned to speak on behalf of the party regarding policy issues.

“I was reprimanded by the party leadership and that’s fine with me. I do not think I am the final voice of the party. I am not that crazy or stupid to believe that” the Indian media quoted her as saying.

Kangana had stoked controversy with her assertion that the farmers’ protests could have resulted in a “Bangladesh-like situation” if the central government had not taken firm action.
