Favorite Things: Business Proposal

We had so much fun watching this cute and lighthearted romcom that we've watched it twice. The characters were fun and the actors were great in their rolls. They often had us laughing. This show was far from serious, but still delivered lots of sweet and even some spicy moments.

One of our favorite things about this series is that it's available to a wide audience on Netflix WITH an option for an English dub! Do we personally love dubs? No, not really. And we rarely watch them. However, when we wanted to introduce a grandma to kdrama, a dub was the solution to overcome the barrier of poor eyesight that made subtitles difficult to follow. For this reason, I am really happy to see this have an English dub available to increase accessibility and wish there were more dramas with dubs. The dub itself was far from terrible once we got used to it, but Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Se Jeong are so great that we missed their delivery when watching the dub. However, not having to read along allowed us to fully enjoy all the comedic expressions! So pros and cons.

We agree with @savethelastdan, we love when guys, or more accurately any human, step up to help another human cover up an embarrassing moment. It's cute and sweet and we fall for it every time.

all started with a phone call, or two, either way, it was.. dare i could say chaotic. or, maybe we could start from the beginning?

on a windy night, you and your friend jin yuri, decided to go out for drinks as you and her were very tired, cue the hiccups and tripping noises as the two of you came home. “good evening ms. shin..” yuri rubbed her eyes as if she was tired (in which she was), “ah, yuri, your here.” your mother said, “and you, shin [name], you came here drinking out at night and you didn’t even bother to do your chores before!” as she grabs an old newspaper, she hit you lightly before handing you a cup of water. “awww, eomeoni you really are sweet!” you take the cup of water as yuri was handed water too. “yuri, i hope [name] wasn’t a bother while the two of you drank.” she crossed her arms on her chest, “no, no, no! not at all ms. shin..” drinking the water straight up.

“tsk, good, now the two of you head to [name]’s room.” she sighs, rubbing the bridge of her nose, the two of you head to your room and change into clothes more appropriate for sleeping.

“hey, yuri, what would happen if your dad found out?” you sit up on the bed while watching a show, “ehhh, i don’t really care.” she responds, her eyes still casted to the television. “what if-“ she immediately cuts you off by ‘shushing’ you “shhh, my favorite character is on.” you really wouldn’t complain, you do that too.

{ring ring! ring ring!}

“oh? what was that?” you question, looking at your phone with a blank screen. “it’s my phone, let me get it.” yuri groans, “hello?” with a hint of mischievousness, she puts the phone on speaker without telling her father.

[yuri, come home immediately! business does not wait for long, and the chairman is waiting alongside his grandchild!]

oh, it was yuri’s dad, he has been nagging her for a week or so, you wonder what the situation is, since it seems important to her father. “no way i’m coming home! i don’t even like marriage! let your daughter experience some kind of relaxation for once!” then, she throws her phone to your bean bag chair, after she puts down the call.

“jeez, why can’t he understand me for once??” she whines, “maybe it’s cause you are the daughter from the marine group! ever thought about it?” pulling out a tray of snacks, “atleast i have another home where they’ll understand me.”

after a night of drunken conversations and binge watching shows, you went to work and decided to sleep in, “hey, [name]! wake up! you’re gonna be late for work!” your mom says, “huh? its 6:00 already…?” you sit up.

as you got ready, you can’t help but wonder what yuri’s father meant. a chairman? waiting? with his grandchild?? MARRIAGE?? is your bestfriend going to be taken away from you by business?

{ring ring! ring ring!}

taking out your phone, you see yuri's name. she's calling you.

[y/n.. can we meet up again?? i want to like.. talk to you..]

huh? she sounds a bit serious. what could've happened? "um, sure. at the bar again?"

[yeah. i'll see you there.]

"i'll see you there too." putting down the phone, you sigh, and head to work.

you pass 'K KITCHEN', your childhood bestfriends restaurant. not that you wanted to pass by, the restaurant is just close to your workplace, you couldn't help but stop by to see how kaeya was doing.

"knock knock?" you peek inside the restaurant, "oh, y/n! perfect timing i wanted you to stop by today." he wipes his hand on the pair of dry towels, he takes out an envelope, and says "[name], promise me to not go with yuri, alright?" he smiles, 'you don't even know what i like.' you thought, nodding at him as you head out.

you look at the envelope, at the back, it says-

( promise me that you won't go with yuri this time, go with a guy to this concert. -<3, kaeya :D )

"what is this guy thinking?" you sigh.

at the bar, you wait for yuri so that the two of you enter together. "y/n! jeez i thought where you could be." yuri waves to you, walking up to you, the both of you enter and order your regular meals. "so, yuri, what are we gonna talk about?" - "yeah, so um, remember the phone call my dad made? he set me up for a blind date. and i want you, my great friend to take my spot!" she explains. "NO. NO in ANY way yuri, never again! i'm done with taking your place in blind dates. i'm done with that guy from that one company, and you expect me to do more?!" you were taken aback, "okay, okay. calm down [name], i know but this is the very very VERY last time you will take my place." she holds her pinky up "pinky promise [name]~ this won't happen again!" you hold your pinky up, "fine. pinky promise."

Pretending to be her friend, Shin Ha Ri attends a blind date in order to scare off the would be suitor. But things quickly get complicated when the suitor is turns out to be Kang Tae Moo, the CEO of her company. When she reluctantly accepts his unusual business proposal, she has to keep him from figuring out that she is actually his employee.

This show is cute, light hearted, and often over the top silly. We loved both the leads and their chemistry was great. We recommend this series if your looking for something fun and romantic that doesn't require any heavy lifting.

Bonus: There is an English dub available for this title through Netflix. The dub was pretty decent once you get used to it, neither amazing or terrible. It's a great option for people that are not able to read subtitles.
