i know i've discussed before a headcanon i have that rize had a blog in which she reviewed every single book she read, and that it was relatively popular despite being anonymous. anyways, i started thinking of it again, and my mind sort of trailed into some sad factors of it.

i feel like her absence was felt online after she disappeared. fans of hers probably commented on her old posts saying they hoped she was okay and how they missed her or with small pleas for her to update them on how she was doing.

and she just never returns, and people can only hope that maybe she moved on to better things or started a new life somewhere. little do any of them know of the horrible fate she endured. there wasn't anyone she knew in her personal life that knew of the blog because she wasn't close with anyone, so no one can even give the update that she went missing and later passed on. but her blog is still up years later, and there are new people coming across and reading her old reviews when they finish one of the books all the time.

in a way, she lives on through this, even if no one knows who she is.

I immediately thought of Rize because her eyes are always drawn so pretty in the manga

I find it inch resting that Kaneki views Rize as the embodiment of monstrousness when so much of the cruelty he is subjected to is violence people wish to do to Rize but she’s not there and Ken is the next best thing. That makes the whole anti transmasculinity re: Mutsuki even worse if you consider that he parallels Ken and people don’t realize that they view Mutsuki as unredeemable for doing the very same things Ken gets redeemed for or applauded for. That contrasted to the body horror of being a man receiving a transplant from a woman and suddenly becoming a target because they have nowhere else to dump the misogynistic violence that they wish to subject her to is so deeply unserious.

arima and rize are complete opposite of one another in some ways. arima was at the very top of the food chain in regards to the sunlit garden children, and rize was at the very bottom. yet, rize had more freedom to live as herself (pre her capture) and arima had almost none. it's interesting.

i also remember them being relatively close to each other on the family tree. i don't headcanon them as direct full siblings, but i headcanon that their mothers were direct full sisters.
