A change of heart
Pairing: Kakashi Hatake x Naruto mother figure!reader
Summary: Naruto has left to train with Jiraya and you are left to wonder if he is doing okay.
A/N: let me get this out of my system thanks a lot don’t know if is going to kill my writer’s block but I see what happens with the asks I have in my draft. I have no idea what this is, if is bad please pretend nothing was written🙃. This is the longer ff I have wrote and is just crazy to me lol @charming-cherry0 here the Kakashi’s ff I’ve talked about hope you like it
Tumblr media
You gave up a life filled with missions; a life of notority for the love you had-and still have to this day-for the people that took you in and raised you when your family died. You had promised to Minato and Kushina that you would take care of their son if anything happened to them. You didn't expect to fill in the role of a mother this soon.
When they sacrified themselves for the security of Konoha you were initially mad at them, leaving you just like your biological family did. Of course it wasn't their plan to die this young, not when they just became partens for the second time. You had to live with the fact that you had a job do to, to take care of your little brother Naruto.
Time passed, Naruto grew up and you couldn't help but being reminded about that night. Mostly because the villagers would always bring it up when walking past you and the Jinchūriki, making the young ninja ask questions, and you had to tell him white lies about it, the Third Hokage had made everyone promise to never reveal the true identity of his parents.
It broke your heart to lie to him, keeping him in the shadows of his lineage, but you knew that if words spread he was the son of the famous Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of the Leaf Village, he was going to be in more danger than he already was for having a tailed beast sealed into him.
It broke your heart when Naruto would come home faking a smile. You noticed he had been secretly crying, his puffy red eyes giving away his secret, but you never commented on them, instead you made sure to remind him that there were more important metters than caring about what people had to say about it. It always brought a sincere smile on his beautiful features.
With time, his pranks and shenanigans never stopped, and so your profusely apologizes to the villagers, who only rolled their eyes to you and whispered under their breath what a terrible guardian you were to the kid. "If he doesn't know how to behave is because he is not getting a proper education" they always said and you had to control yourself and not yelling at them that you were doing your best as a young girl yourself. Sometimes Naruto would hear the adults making fun of you, and this was one of the reasons why he would be mean to them, throwing ramen leftovers on their face or sticking out his foot to make them trip.
"Naruto, what happened? Why would do that to them?" you would ask him once in confinement of your apartament, away from prying eyes and ears. He would only say that he felt like it, or that they had been making fun of him. He didn't want to make you doubt your skills as a parental figure, not when he too knew he wasn't an easy kid to take care of. You would scoff and tell him to got to his room and do some homeworks while you would make dinner.
With time, things started to get better. Naruto had came to you one day revealing that he was determined to befriend Sasuke Uchiha, at the mention of the clan that got massacred your mind went back to when you had met the boy's mother before the tragedies that took place at the village and you smiled at him. Assuring him that one day, the two of them would the best of friends, you didn't know that was taking them a long time to get there.
It was when Naruto failed the gennin exam that you felt like a failure, if he didn't came to you for help it had to be because you weren't doing a good job of reassuring the boy he could rely on you, but oh how wrong you were. Naruto loved you dearly, and was grateful to have you in his life so he couldn't let you down, he had to make you proud of him and he thought that coming to you for help was a sign of weakness for him and he didn't want to show you he was weak.
You cried, for the first time in front of him, that night after he had told you all of that. Hugging like your lives depended on that you assured him that it was okay to show weakness, for him he was just a kid. From that night he never kept sectres from you, well maybe just the fact that he knew that people still belittled you by doing a poor job raising him.
You never, in your life, were jealous of people but since Kakashi Hatake became the sensei assigned to Naruto's team you discovered a new emotion: jealousy.
You had heard about the shinobi in question, how could you not? He was famous because of his father and for his talents. While at the academy you never interacted much with him and he kept a distance from you too, the two of you had nothing in common but the fact that your adoptive father was his teacher, that was it. Nothing less, nothing more. One single person in common wasn't a reason strong enough to bring the two of you to talk to each other for more than five minutes. But now? How much you wished to be able to take off your ears, because honestly? You couldn't stand another day hearing about the man.
Naruto was smittered with him, sure Kakashi sometimes was harsh with him but he was a great teacher. He couldn't stop talking about him, not only that but the constant talk of the town on how lucky Naruto was to have such a mature and responsible teacher made all your hard work seem trivial. The villagers kept on belittling you by putting on a pedestal Kakashi Hatake, the gem of the Leaf Village.
It had been a week since Naruto left Konoha alongside Jiraya, a week without a single word from him informing you about his days with the legendary ninja and his training sessions, a week worrying about the boy. Was he eating enough? Was he resting enough? Is he spending his money wisely or is he spending it for useless things? You couldn't stop thinking about how he was doing away from you.
"Earth's calling Y/N." you heard the voice of Kakashi from the other side of the window of the shop. You rolled your eyes upon seeing him laying hands on the windowsill with his book on sight. You turn around, asking him what he needed in such a late hour at your store. "saw the light was on and decided to see if you needed anything"
"Nothing if it's coming from you." you simply said walking towards the register to collect your things before heading back home. You didn't hear him jump into the store, his movements always quiet as if he is always on a mission of some sorts, you didn't even hear him closing the window, only when you turned to leave the store you noticed what he has been doing. "you need anything?" you mocked him, your words harsh because why was he so suddenly paying you a visit after closing hour?
"I don't need anything. Again I saw the li-" you cut him off, taking out the keys you unlocked the door and invited him outside. He didn't say anything, just followed your silent instructions and waited next to you to lock the door again. "heading home?"
"What do you think?" his presence was annoying you, you didn't want to be seen with him walking around the village, who knew what terrible things people would say if they saw you with such loved shinobi like him. "Hatake you don't have to walk me home, I still remember how to protect myself" it was true, all those year of combat training were still present in your muscle memory so you could have managed just fine if something were to happen to you. He didn't care, keeping you company on your way home.
"I just want to catch up with an old friend, is that wrong?" you halted at his words? Friends? Since when did he consider you a friend? The last time you checked the two of you even spoke was during the attack of the Nine tailed fox on the village, and just because you had to inform him about a change in the original plans.
He noticed your absence a couple of seconds later, turning around he asked you what happened that got you to stop in your tracks.
"I'm sorry, since when are we friends?" Kakashi was about to answer but you didn't give him the chance to add anything. "Listen, just because you are Naruto's teacher does not mean you and me are friends. And before I say anything that I will regret later please go home. I don't need to be reminded that I am a pathetic excuse of a mother." you whispered the last part, you didn't need him to know how you felt.
Kakashi heard you, loud and clear. He knew you were critisized by the villagers. He came across a couple of people that would praise him by belittling you, the ninja had always took your side, defending you against the mean words spoke behind your back. He didn't fight you, he didn't comment on your sentence, he was sure whatever he said wasn't going to make you feel better.
That night you cried, alone in the apartament you shared with Naruto and that was going to feel cold until he was back from his training. You knew that those three years without him were going to be long.
The next morning you woke up tired, giving a quick look at the pillow you could tell you cried yourself to sleep. The sight in the bathroom's mirror could confirm your theory, not that it was that hard to come to the conclusion of that, after what happened last night it was either that or you had spilled some water on it. The latter being the last possible.
Once you were finally ready to go and open the doors of your shop, you were faced with a toad at your doorstep, you can tell is one of Jiraya's because the animal is too big to be a common one. Is only when you took a second look that you noticed it had an envelope between its hands, you asked permission to take it from the animal and when the envolope was in yours the toad disappeared. You smiled reading the name of Naruto on the paper. Today was going to be great.
Dear Y/N,
sorry if I haven't written to you sooner but this week my days were filled with learning new techniques with the Ero-sennin that I totally forgot to inform you about my days. You don't have to worry about me, the Toad Sage reminds me to not overwork myself. I am eating a lot of good and tasy food. My sleeping schedule is not the best but I always remember your words about how important a good sleep is to become stronger.
I miss you very much, take care of the shop and eat a lot of ramen for me too.
Love you, Naruto.
The letter finished with his signature thumb print and a smiley face next to it, you smiled thanking that he remembered you while away for training.
The door of the shop opened, and you looked up from the letter to invite in your first client of the day but upon seeing Kakashi you rolled your eyes annoyed by his presence already.
"I don't think rolling your eyes is a good way to make your costumers feel welcomed" he commented.
"Why are you here?" you asked walking in front of the your desk. "and don't you dare to say that you just want to have a talk with a friend because I'm pretty sure I made it clear yesterday that we aren't friends." your tone was calm but the point came across to the shinobi, you didn't want to have him around.
"I'm here in peace. I want to look for something to buy, that's all." he said, intertwining his hands behind the back of his head he started walking around the store.
"You do realize this is a store that has nothing for you, right?" your shop was filled with clothes and accessories for the female villagers, nothing that Kakashi could wear or use even if he wanted to. The sizes were too small for him and you could swear he is not the type to take a bag with him. You pictured him with a couple of hairpins but only in the secrecy of his apartament, never outside. You scoffed at the imagine of him securing his white hair with pretty pins.
"I never said it was for me. I said I'm looking for something to buy." he repeated, deciding to not ask you why were you scoffing so out of the blue. "Asuma wants to surprise Kurenai and I offered to help him find something that she might like" you were taken aback, you never imagined him to be someone that would offer his help to look for gifts. "oh by the way, do you know if Naruto is okay? That ungrateful kid didn't write me a letter yet." you totally missed the little smile that formed on his face, both because you were facing his back and because of the mask he never takes off his face.
"I, actually, got a letter from him this morning." you said happy that Naruto wrote to you first than Kakashi, even though he had wrote at the two of you simultaneously, but what you didn't know couldn't hurt you, right? and Kakashi kept that information for himself when he heard your teasing tone. He didn't want to ruin your day, not after what you had said yesterday.
"That kid, forgetting about his teacher like I mean nothing to him." he commented looking at some hair clips with a charm at the end, he took a couple of them and came to you asking for which one you prefered. You choose the wooden one with the red details reminding him that most of Kurenai's outfits involved the color red. He thanked you and paid for the object.
"You mean a lot to Naruto, more than I like to admit honestly." you told him before he could leave the store. "Thank you for everything you do and for taking care of him when I can't" you confessed. He only smiled at you, wishing you a good day and promising that he wasn't going to bother you for the rest of the day.
Months passed and once a week you would get a visit from one of Jiraya's toads delivering at your doorsteps a letter from Naruto informing you about his days with the Toads Sage and how much he is improving his ninja's skills and you, oh so wished to write to him how proud you were, but his safety came first and if you wrote to him the Akatsuki would probably find him, risking to get kidnapped. You just made a note to yourself to tell him that, the moment he was back to Konoha.
Naruto’s letters weren’t the only thing keeping you company and making you smile, Kakashi was another reason why your days weren’t too boring. He would come to your shop, pretending to look around and then waiting for you to close up so he could walk you home, asking about your day, asking what Naruto had told you in his letter that week, talking about his missions (if he was allowed) and about Guy. The stories about his friend were the one you anticipated the most if you had to be honest.
When he started to hang around more, you were annoyed at him, mostly because you knew people would talk behind your back, making comments questioning why Kakashi Hatake, one of the most renowned shinobi of the village was friend with someone like you. Someone that failed both as a shinobi and as a parental figure. Their words were just speculations, you knew that, everything was far away from the truth but they still hurt you.
"She was a great shinobi and gave up all of it just because of a kid." you heard someone commenting while walking past Ramen Ichiraku, his friend scoffed saying that if you gave up so easily to take care of Naruto it was because you weren't that good as a ninja to start with.
"She failed as a ninja and as a mother. If Naruto thinks he can do whatever he wants is all her fault." he added half drunk. You had to stop in your tracks, not because you wanted to know how the conversation would move on, you didn't care much, but you had to take a deep breath before breaking down in the middle of the street. The day didn’t start in the best way and it was going to end even worse if you were to show yourself weak in front of others.
"She was the only one that could keep up with me." you recognized the voice, how could you not? It was Kakashi. "and she could kick your asses if she only wanted." he stopped, you thought to eat some more portion of ramen or to drink some water. "She did her best considering her young age and the fact that everyone was against her. Leave her alone already, she went through so much and doesn't need such remarks from people that don't even know her." The other two ninjas didn’t talk back, and you headed back home assuming they dropped the conversation there. Nothing else to add after Kakashi called them out.
Walking down memory lane that night you rememberer how during your days at the academy you thought you didn’t like Kakashi, but with time you realized you hated him. Growing up you matured and came to the conclusion that hate was such a strong emotion to feel for someone that you had nothing to do with, it was jealousy, not hatred. It could never be hatred. Now, at the doorsteps of your thirties you had to admit you were envious of him.
You envied Kakashi because he was naturally talented; you envied him because every kid always talked about him; you envied him because he was liked by all the people of Konoha; you envied him because he was everything that you could have been if life didn’t throw you a tragedy after another. You went to sleep with Kakashi’s words still in your mind and with apologizing to Kakashi on your to-do list.
That morning was rather...calm, the sky being grey didn't allow the birds to fly away from their nests and you imagined today was going to be pretty slow since people didn't like to go out with such a weather.
Opening the door of your house you bumped into Kakashi, standing there with a Bangasa* umbrella in hand.
“What are you doing here?” You asked visibly, and rightly so, confused at his presence in front of your door.
“Walking you to work? I need to be gone for a mission after lunch so I thought that maybe I could spend some time with you before leaving. If you are fine with it, of course.” You were fine with the idea of him walking you to work but the fact that he was leaving for a mission wasn’t in your plans. You decided to wait when he was back to talk to him, you didn’t want to distract him while on a mission. “So…”
“Sorry. I’m… that’s okay and really, you don’t have to spend time with me.” You said locking your door.
“But I want to. And you know, we can’t tell if I’m coming back to Konoha in one piece.” He teased but you took it seriously, knowing that you had a conversation planned with him.
“You better come back in one piece I… I have something I would like to discuss with you.” Kakashi was curious and asking to explain further your words, you repeated that it had to wait when he was done with the mission. “I just don’t wanna distract you.”
“You would never distract me. Come on, tell me.” Giving in sounded so easy and it was. The apology rolling out your mouth in a second. “And it had to wait for the mission to be over because…” you didn’t know, it was stupid considering you just had to apologize to him. Maybe you thought he was going to add more than a simple ‘thank you’, what exactly were you expecting was a mystery to you too. “Don’t worry, you don’t have to tell me.” He added before you could express your reasoning, if there were any.
As he said he spent half the day at your shop, in the corner he made himself with time. He was quiet, reading his book and not exchanging words with the women that wanted to talk to him. They didn’t exist to him.
At lunch he stood up from his chair (yours but you never used it so he decided to claim it as his) and took out of the pocket of his vest a small white stone, you recognized it, it was an opal.
“I read it is good for protection. Never go out without it until I’m back.” You smiled at him and thanked him. “Or… don’t I don’t know. I was told… I thought you would like it.”
“I love it. Just, make sure to be back safe and sound. I don’t want to plan your funeral, I still don’t like you.” You joked. He smiled under the mask, his visible eye squinting a little bit.
“Don’t worry, Guy has everything planned for my funeral already.” He joked “see you when I’m back.” He added before leaving the shop. You watched him walk out when one of your costumers nudged at you.
“He is a good catch, confess already.” You blushed at her words and made sure she understood that you felt nothing more than admiration towards the ninja. “Whatever makes you sleep at night.” She said before paying for the necklace she had chosen.
The mission took longer than what you expected, and since your apologizes to Kakashi you bumped into his friends more than usual (Guy drunk told you he asked them to keep you company when possible) but you didn’t mind their presence. Since Naruto left you realized he was your only friend.
Kurenai was a sweet woman, always making sure you were doing fine and making sure if you had eaten enough for the day; Asuma was quiet, mostly sticking around Kurenai and promising you he would quit smoking (he never did); Guy was the funniest of the trio, telling you stories about when he and Kakashi were younger and even if you knew some of them already you let him talk.
Waking up, you looked at the calendar on your little desk, the day circled in orange was a reminder of the anniversary of the death of Minato and Kushina. It was the first time you went to their grave all by yourself and thinking about it you didn’t want to go anymore. Maybe staying all day home wasn’t a bad idea after all.
You wished Kakashi didn’t get his friends to be on your neck 24/7 because the second you laid down in bed you noticed the three ninjas outside your bedroom window.
“Why are you guys here?” You asked looking at them.
“Because we don’t want you to rot in your bed today.” Answered Guy “get off bed and get ready” he added.
“Ready for what?”
“We have a little surprise for you.” Asuma was the one answering your question. “Come on.” You sighed rolling your eyes before leaving the bed once again. “Good choice.”
Getting ready with your mind elsewhere wasn’t easy but you wouldn’t dare make the three ninjas outside your house tell you, once again, to move already.
Stepping out your apartment you wanted to go back in, whose idea was to blindfold you? And, most importantly, why would they blindfold you? Kurenai assured you it was her idea, you doubted that but there wasn’t time to fight if she was lying or not, and that you had to trust them.
Is not like you didn’t trust them but the fact that they just decided to take you out and blindfold you wasn’t helping at all. You decided to follow their instructions, without complaining.
The spot was a special one for you, not because it was anything secluded (if it was your friends couldn’t be able to find it) but because it was where Minato, Kushina and you liked to spend time together. It was your little piece of Heaven on Earth until…
“You didn’t had to” you told them, because they really didn’t had to prepare a picnic for you.
“We wanted to” replayed Kurenai “and besides what a best way to remember them than spending some time at their favorite secret place” she added up, smile on her face.
“If the dishes are not of your taste blame it on Kakashi, he suggested those” explained Guy
“Pretty sure he remembers his sensei’s favorite foods so I’m not even surprised.” You were, because those were mostly your favorite dishes (also some of Minato and Kushina’s).
The four of you started eating and in the mean time ended up talking about the Fourth Hogake and his wife, the three ninjas asking you about how the two deceased shinobi were in the privacy of their house and you laughed at the memories.
“Okay, okay let me just…” you cleared your throat and took a sip of sake before speaking again. “…I would tell you curious cats all about my lovely parents that died to save the village that hates me” everyone laughed at your tipsy words.
Standing up you try to stay as in equilibrium as possible before speaking again. And you started from the beginning, from when Kushina found you crying your eyes out over your parents’ dead bodies. She comforted you, telling you everything was going to be okay, and she took you with her, there is when you met Minato and Jiraya for the first time.
You told them how Minato was a lovely fiancée to Kushina and how he was always helping around the house without a sense of shame whatsoever, you admired him for that wishing for yourself a man that could help around the house without complaining that he shouldn’t do such things since ‘he is a man’
“That sounds like Kakashi if I have to be honest” cut you off Asuma and you laughed it off, maybe he was right but you and Kakashi? Engaged? No thank you. Talking about them some more you arrived at the day they sacrificed themselves and your happy smile dissolved from your features, leaving space to a more serious expression.
“No one knows, not even Kakashi I guess but I need to be honest about it. I hated them for quite a bit. They promised me to never leave me alone. That they would never do like my biological parents did and yet… but they didn’t leave me alone, no sir. They put the responsibility of raising a child on my shoulders and I was only 15 years old. I hated it, I couldn’t look at Naruto without thinking about them and for a couple of months I didn’t take care of him like I promised. Then one day I saw Kakashi…” another sip of sake “…and he looked like nothing was bothering him, he had moved on faster compared to me, he made it seems so easy and I hated him for that. I hated how fast he had moved on, I hated him so much that I felt like I had to prove a point. I still don’t know what the point was supposed to be, but I think it helped me come to my senses and do what I was supposed to do for the past three months.”
Asuma, Kurenai and Guy were left speechless at your words and you mentally thanked them for keeping their judgmental thoughts for themselves. Because if they spoke their minds you would have hated it.
You spent the whole day eating and training with the three shinobi and you are happy to be able to get back to the old days when you would train with them when you weren’t yet stripped of your position as a ninja of the Leaf Village.
You are a little rusty, I mean after 17 years of working in a jewelry shop everyone would be, but you managed to take down Guy and Asuma a couple of times. It was after the sun set that your friends decided it was time to go home and after your thank yous they left you alone with your thoughts.
You stayed some more, looking at the horizon with one thing in mind: Kakashi Hatake. You wished he was there with you, he was the only one, after you, to have spent the majority of his time alongside Minato. Rin was dead, to keep the village safe, Obito died to save Kakashi and he was away for a mission that would take his life away if he wasn’t careful enough.
Walking up the stairs you didn’t notice the “bread crumbs” left on the steps, only when you reached the top and see Kakashi in front of your door that you notice he is holding something in his hands.
You look back noticing the petals of Kushina’s favorite flower. Your eyes tear up at the memory and the fact that you didn’t allowed yourself to look at those flowers ever again.
“Surprise.” He said and when you turn around to face him his small smile disappeared and his expression turned worried. You don’t have the time to fall on your knees that he is holding your shaking body into his. Your cries filling the silent night. “Is okay, I’m here now.” And you keep crying holding into him for dear life.
It took you a couple of minutes to stop crying and even then you kept on sobbing every now and then. Kakashi took off his fingerless gloves and started wiping away the tears on your face.
“I miss them” you said hiccuping your words to him. He doesn’t say much, just that he understands the pain in your heart because he misses them too. “Please don’t you leave me too” his heart aches at your words and he keeps on drying up your face assuring you that he wasn’t going anywhere without you.
He helps you up and walks you to the door and you wished you were able to function but no. With shaky hands you dropped the keys on the floor but he is there, helping you in every way possible without judgement.
Entering he made you sit down at the dinner table and while you tried your best to recollect yourself he filled up a glass of water.
“Drink up everything you are drained” he commented and you listened to him (mostly because you were truly thirsty) and chunked the whole glass down. It was refreshing you though. “Sorry if I made you cry, it wasn’t my intention”
“It wasn’t your fault. I think it was the build up pain.” You didn’t mean to tell him about it but you did regardless. Telling him how you never properly mourned their death because first you hated them for leaving you and then you had a child to take care of and you couldn’t dwell in your pain.
“I hated Minato for a while too.” He confessed and you were speechless at the confession. You always thought he had moved on pretty fast after what he had been through, you imagined he was used to people leaving him behind. You were so wrong about all of it and you felt guilty you felt like crying again. But you didn’t, you couldn’t because Kakashi told you to get ready for bed. “If you need me here I can sleep over.”
You find yourself almost using the L word in that moment, if it was out of friendship love or romantic you didn’t know. You knew you were grateful for him in that moment. You tell him he could sleep in Naruto’s bed and he nods at your proposition. That night you had a good sleep, one you haven’t had in years and that you truly needed and you only had to thank Kakashi Hatake for that.
It was during dead time that you heard Konohamaru screaming from the top of his lungs that Naruto "big brother" was back from his three years training. You rushed outside, locking the shop as fast possible. Running behind the Third Hokage's grandchild on your way to see Naruto you almost bumped into Kakashi.
"where are you running to?" he asked, following behind you.
"Naruto is back" Konohamaru and you said in unison, Kakashi speeding up and catching up with the two of you. He wanted to meet his student because he too have been missing him lots during those three years.
Kakashi stayed behind, never passing by you. The shinobi wanted for you to be the first one to see Naruto, considering the relationship that binds the two of you and for the fact that the young ninja didn't write that week (Kakashi hopes that Naruto did it on purpose but he imagines the kid just genuinely forgot), and you did, between the three of you, you spot him first. He was talking with Sakura, the girl was mad at him for something you didn't even care to find out. It was when the kid you raised as your own spotted you that he ran to you. He hugged you, hands around your middle and lifted you making you squeal out of surprise.
"why didn't you wrote me you were coming at the village?" you said once he put you down. "I was going to think something had happen to you" he scratched the back of his head giving you a nervous smile. Before he could apologize properly Konohamaru was all over him asking him questions about the time he was away and reminding him about the promise the older ninja made before leaving (a stupid challenge about who performs better the Sexy Jutsu Naruto invented). You noticed Sakura rolling his eyes, Moegi doing the same.
You felt Kakashi lightly hugging you from the side, and you didn't mind the presence of the ninja, not when you apologized for your shitty behaviour. Since that day your relationship with Kakashi got better day after day to the point where you started having feelings for the man, romanic ones to be pricise.
"what is happening between the two of you?" he asked, looking confused to why you weren't at Kakashi's throat for being this close to your figure. "are you fucking my mom?" you were able to feel hear Kakashi stiffening at those words, who wouldn't when accused of such an intimate, and very personal, activity. "you know what? I don't actually want to know. Treat her right or I am coming for you, I know where you live" he threatened him and both you and Kakashi weren't able to say much back before he excused himself saying he had to report to Granda Tsunade frst thing first.
As you were left with Sakura, team Ebisu and Kakashi you cleared your throat ready to explain that the only thing that there was between Kakashi and you was pure frienship. Nothing more, nothing less.
"not to be that person..." started to speak Sakura "but I never, ever, saw Kakashi sensei interested in a woman like he is with you." she shrugged her shoulders when you gave her a death stare. "Just saying. By the way, gotta make sure Naruto doesn't get in trouble with the Hokage" you pinched the bridge of your nose, inhaling deep to keep calm. When you opened back your eyes you noticed the younger ninjas looking at you.
"You three better get to training before I rat you out to Ebisu Sensei" Konohamaru wasn't didn't care, you could tell, the smirk selling away his thoughts on the entire situation.
"Kids those days, always telling lies" you tried your best to light up the mood but Kakashi's espression told you you were failing. "you don't... you don't think so?"
"totally, yeah. Kids teasing their teacher like there is no tomorrow." he said, heading back to his apartment avoiding any type of contact with you. You follow behind him, your shop being in the same direction as his house.
"I'm sorry for Naruto. I will make sure he apologizes to you as soon as possible." he doesn't answer, keeping his pace slow so you were able to keep up with him. "I would suggest he pays for whatever you would like, you know, as a little revenge" he chuckled a little and you were happy that he finally was able to let Naruto's words bahind him.
Kakashi kept you company at the shop, helping some costumers that mostly wanted to engage in a conversation with him. Mostly to ask him if he was single and what type of girls he liked, he nervously laghed at them trying his best to change the topic.
Looking at the interaction you couldn't help but smile at it. The way he softly smiled at those ladies trying to set him up. The way he would try and subtly change the subject. The way he would walk them out with gentle hands.
He scoffed, walking to the cash register he takes his head between his hands complaining about the ladies of the village doing whatever they were trying to achieve.
"I mean, you are old and never been seen with a partner of any sorts. You spend all your time with your students or out for missions." you tell him, pushing his elbows away from the desk. "they like you and they want to see you settled down. That's it" Kakashi and you were discussing about the fact that he doesn’t want to settle down with the first woman people would set him up with, he wants to meet someone and grew with them, embrancing their qualities but also their flaws and he does tell you that. Soft boy, was your first thought at his words.
The bell at the top of the door rang and shifting your gaze to the entrance you saw Naruto with his signature smile on display.
"Ehy mom, I came to tell you that I need to go first thing in the morning for a mission."
"So soon? But you just..." looking how his joyful look turned into a more serious one you knew it was about Sasuke, it had to be about him. "I get it. Do you at least have the time to eat with me before you leave?" he nodded and you told him, and Kakashi to wait for you outside so you could finish cleaning before closing the shop.
Walking to Ichiraku Naruto revealed some new details that he couldn't share before about his days with the Ero-Sennin and you had a good laugh with him. Kakashi didn't intrude much, for what reason you couldn't tell, but it didn't care at the moment becuase you were back with your favourite boy.
Teuchi welcomed the three of you and so did his daughter, a little smirk forming on his face at the sight of Kakashi.
"Introducing the boyfriend to the family?" she said earning a little spank on her back from her father.
"He is not my boyfriend Ayame, how many times do I have to tell you?" you complied at her statement.
"But you wished he was?" said the younger ones, you turned to Naruto looking at him in confusion, what gave him such an idea? "I mean I come back and you haven't yelled at him once."
"This doesn't mean I want him to be my boyfriend but just that me and Kakashi talked out our.."
"yours" he interjected and you rolled your eyes at him.
"Yeah, my problems..." you said looking at Kakashi "...we became friends with time. Nothing wrong with it" you said and then asked Teuchi for three ramens.
While Teuchi and Anyame prepare your food Naruto was curios to know how it happened, he clearly remembered you saying that there was no way you would change your mind on Kakashi, and here you were, sharing some ramen with the person you were supposed to hate the most in this world.
You told him about how everything changed between his sensei and you when you apologize to him and that you find out a different side of him when he helped you during your breakdown. Since then you did everything together, let it be a little stroll around Konoha or having lunch during your breaks at the shop.
“With time I started liking him.” You said “oh thank you for the food.” You take a spoonful of it and complimented Teuchi. “You see, with time you can understand who truly cares for you.” That was a little jab at Naruto because you never liked Sakura for him. Sure they were good friends now, but the way she treated him at the beginning ot their training times? It wasn’t what you had expected from a team mate.
“Don’t get all philosophical on the kid already.” Commented Kakashi. You gave him a side eye. “Sorry but he just arrived after three years with Jiraya what do you think he will understand if you use big words to him?”
“I’m not stupid”
“He is not stupid” Kakashi turned around when he heard Teuchi and Ayame defending Naruto as well. “The kid just ignores some things.” Carried on the owner of the ramen shop. “I mean a LOT of things but is not his problem. He took after his mother.” You laughed, remembering Kushina being just like him when you first met her. She calmed down a little bit, still being her silly self, now that you were under her care.
Naruto finally dropped the previous conversation, more interested in knowing more about his mother now that the man mentioned her. Sure you had talked to him about his parents but you didn’t know much about them before you became part of their family so while he is intrigued about stories of his young parents from Teuchi you kept an eye on him, smiling at his shiny eyes at the stories he is told.
Once you were done eating Kakashi payed for the three of us and you thanked him for the gesture. Naruto complained, if he knew his sensei would have been the one paying he would have got a second portion to take home for you just to rise the bill a little bit and annoy his sensei.
“You want us to walk you at the gates?” You asked making sure you weren’t too much of a burden for him since he had to be at the gates before sun rise. He “uhmed” in response and you are quite happy that you can spend some more time with him.
“I wouldn’t be too mad at Kakashi if he tried something.” Naruto spoke when he was able to see the gates of Konoha. You and Kakashi stopped in your tracks both looking at him with wide eyes. “I want you to be happy and if he makes you happy I’m okay.” He kissed you goodbye before sprinting away where his friends and team mates for the Sasuke rescue team were waiting for him.
You were left alone with Kakashi next to you, with nothing to say due to Naruto’s confession. What were you supposed to say? What were you supposed to do? You wished Kurenai was there to give you some advice on it but she wasn’t. And even if she was she wouldn’t be much of help because she would be too occupied teasing you.
“So… do I make you happy? Because you sure make me happy.” Kakashi cut the silence and you wished he didn’t, not like that at least.
“You annoy me, that’s different.” You rolled your eyes at him and started walking towards your apartment. It took him some minutes to realize your words and when he does, he runs behind you catching up with you almost immediately him and his stupid long legs.
“Ehy, what do you mean I annoy you? You said you started to like me.”
“Again, it doesn’t mean you don’t annoy me sometimes.” You keep teasing him and he missed the way you smiled at him. And you miss the way he does the same.
It was in front of your porch that he cups your face and looked deep into your eyes before asking permission to kiss you and you gave him the green light to do so. The kiss is gentle, and short lived but you didn’t care. You invite him inside and this time you let him sleep in your bed.

Tumblr media
//As an adult, not much. If anything I’d lean more on the envious side of stuff such as seeing others being able to spend time with their family. But jealously doesn’t play much of a part in his life anymore. Sasuke is capable of controlling his emotions and keeping his head straight in matters he can’t change. He has an awareness that he hadn’t possessed in the past. He no longer cares about the trivial things he once did.
Sasuke has a superiority/inferiority complex as I’ve mentioned a multitude of time when discussing his character development. So, it’s not so shocking to relate his former jealously to that of Naruto’s growing strength within the entire series. It’s obvious throughout but not articulated until the Sasuke Retrieval Arc after the hospital roof fight.
So bear with me as I probably go into way more detail than necessary to explain the type of jealously that affects Sasuke since we know he’s never been one to care what others think or the progress of others outside of himself. He does get envious of Lee’s ability to beat him prior to the Chunin Exams because it was the first time he was put in his place that there’s others out there who train harder and have more power at their disposal (minus Haku and Zabuza bc that too was an issue for him). However, I’ll address the few panels I have below that explain it from Kakashi’s point of view.
Tumblr media
It’s plain and simple as Kakashi said, it’s an obsession for Sasuke to be superior to those around him. He needs that form of validation. It stabilizes him. As we see later when Sasuke leaves the village it’s due to this fight, losing to Itachi, and being attacked by the Sound Four. He was always ahead of Naruto, but witnessed him beat Gaara when he couldn’t (while not recognizing all he accomplished beforehand such as learning the chidori and being on chunin level despite not being officially promoted).
He wasn’t trying to kill Naruto at all. It was a way to release his pent up frustration with himself and the pure misery surging through him after Itachi brutally reminded him of how ‘weak’ he truly was after all that time. It was later revealed that Sasuke felt a step behind Naruto on day one when he couldn’t get himself to become friends out of fear and later resentment. The jealously grew in the cracks of their formed bond and was fiercely shoved to the surface at this moment.
Tumblr media
Immature behavior, yes, but also not so much. It wasn’t born from thin air. It didn’t suddenly appear. It was suppressed and bypassed due to Sasuke’s character development with his team. But he had a setback no one seemed to recognize, let alone handle. Kakashi apparently had no idea Sasuke encountered Itachi (which side-note I must add bc why didn’t he know? He shouldn’t been 100% aware of this matter. But it seems as though there’s a lack of communication between them. Anyway I’ll dismiss it or end up rambling due to my Kakashi and Sasuke issue XD).
Sasuke’s jealously is volatile. The moment he thinks he’s weak, he brings his self-confidence so low it’s harmful. He criticizes himself, degrades all the progress he’s actually made and grinds it into nothing. When in reality he’s progressed at an astonishing rate (and later becomes one of the strongest shinobi in the world) but here he’s still a child, only 13 and weighs his significance on a scale. The second he gets jealous, be that towards Naruto, Lee, Gaara, Itachi, etc. he’s unable to keep it together. And it continues but is expressed differently after the time skip. Sasuke isn’t so impulsive and gained more awareness.
Tumblr media
Sasuke has to once again question himself, wonder what made him this weak bc there has to be a source. His jealous nature digs into him. He’s always lived his life being measured up to someone else (Fugaku comparing him to Itachi). He adopted the habit and it stuck with him. He mostly feels the need to be above everyone else bc it prove he’s making progress and could stand a chance against his brother in the future. But the envy he has when Naruto seemingly gains such strength so fast is a mental kick, one he repeatedly thinks about.
Tumblr media
Acknowledging Naruto would cause Sasuke to deny his reason for living. This is a running issue for him throughout the manga, but also so important. Sasuke is feeling threatened by Naruto’s gained strength. When it comes to jealously as a whole, Sasuke’s not one to be envious over petty things and honestly keeps himself focused/calm enough where nothing seems to outwardly bother him. He was never jealous of Itachi. He looked up to his older brother, but when Fugaku didn’t verbally acknowledge him to his face (and being only 7) it made him feel worthless. That duplicates itself here in its own manner. It’s normal to get jealous or resentful. It’s simply a fact of life. But Sasuke’s always in a sensitive mindset due to the curse of hatred. So any small act of bitterness can whirlwind into something foul.
Tumblr media
Here we have a small taste of Sasuke’s character development. He no longer cares, realizing jealousy doesn’t give any purpose. He’s matured but is still goal oriented. It’s not really a question of what makes Sasuke jealous, but more to the point of where he started and ended up when handling it. Power has been Sasuke’s driving force, strength his confidence. When it’s threatened and jealousy kicks in, he’s set off. But here he’s absolutely fine admitting it’s insignificant.
Tumblr media
And here we have Sasuke finally able to admit he lost to Naruto. It’s not in admission to failure or weakness, it’s expressed with a smile. The transformation to how unbalanced Sasuke is when managing jealousy to it not existing anymore is the point of this post (tangent or not). I could’ve easily kept it to a minimum and stuck with the first paragraph but I figured why not delve into it.
Sasuke’s an emotional mess at times, but in most scenarios he’s able to keep himself composed. As an adult, he’s happy with himself and whats around him (concerning his family and all the progress he’s made). Now jealousy plays no physical part of his life. Small things perhaps, but it doesn’t cut deep anymore.

Naruto Sexuality Headcanons
This is pre-boruto because I don’t know anything about Boruto.
Naruto is bi.
Sasuke is demi-sexual. It’s the only way I can explain the weirdness between him and Naruto, and him ending up with Sakura.
Sakura is straight.
Sai is ace. He likes paint.
Kakashi is ace.
Kiba is bi but to an almost pansexual degree? If someone’s down, he’s down.
Shino is aromantic but not asexual. He wants kids (he teaches at the Academy for christ sake! Though that doesn’t actually make a lot of sense as the clan heir... I’ll need to deal with that later)
Hinata is bi but prefers men. She’s experimented, specifically with a lot of blonds (she has a type, good for her) but really admires and respects Naruto.
Kurenai is pan.
Shikamaru is bi but prefers women. Specifically strong, domme like women (just look at Temari. Do not tell me that she would not top him.)
Choji is bi but Does Not Care for appearance. He cares more about how they treat his teammates.
Ino is pan. She does not care about age but will draw the line at children who are under 16 (my headcanoned adult age for civilian children and when Kage are legally allowed to start the spying via sleeping with a target) but she has no problem with older men, women, or unspecified gender.
Asuma is but did experiment when he was up with the Monks of the Fire Temples. It didn’t work out but hey, it’s not like he has a long lost kid somewhere being raised by a fire priest.
Neji... I can’t really figure him out. Too serious. Probably somewhere on the ace spectrum but doesn’t really care. Probably just interested in getting through life with Rock Lee as a teammate.
Tenten is BI AS FUCK
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ROCK LEE’S SEXUALITY IS????? I JUST REREAD THE ENTIRE SERIES AND I DON’T GET GAY, ACE, BI, STRAIGHT OR TRANS VIBES FROM HIM!
My friend (who has never watched or read Naruto), that from a single picture, that he is somewhere on the pan/ace spectrum. I am deferring to their judgment because they are non-binary, openly bi and don’t know anything about him.
Might Guy is the same as Rock Lee. Maybe straight.
Temari is bi.
Kankuro is asexual. He likes being the fun uncle.
Gaara is very much ace but loves children. So he adopts way too many children. (He’s like Batman, with 10+ children running around that he’s not entirely sure are his but eh, doesn’t really matter at this point)
Karui is straight but was bi-curious in her youth.
Omoi is a baby. Probably bi or pan, but is full of anxiety and is not allowed anywhere near romance until he can get some anti-anxiety medication.
Not to say he can be in a relationship, but he’ll probably go nuts overanalyzing and then break up with the person in like, a month tops. Unless the person is really good, then I root for them both.
Mitarashi doesn’t care about sex or romance. She likes fire and explosions.
Ibiki is Tired. (I know it’s not a sexuality, but honestly, for this man, it should be an exception. He has to deal with the bullshit people of the T&I unit. Which is an entirely other post).
Zabuza and Haku are in a father/mentor-son/mentee relationship.
Haku was genderfluid.
Killer B doesn’t really want a family. He wants to rap.
A is bi. He has a son.
Terumi Mei is a lesbian goddess. She managed to seduce Zabuza once before he tried to kill her because they were in ANBU together. And he knew her girlfriend.
Itachi was pan.
Kisame was ace (he has a KID in Boruto????) and really likes sharks. Itachi tried to avoid all conversations like that after he first told the Akatsuki and Pein banned that kind of talk from then on.
Hidan is attracted to witchcraft.
Hashirama is straight but his wife was bi.
Madara was gay.
Obito was... yeah, no clue.
Rin was straight but tried a girl. Wasn’t her cup of tea but she doesn’t care about anyone’s sexuality.
Please, for the love of god, add more characters. I have no idea how many are on this list, but there are so many more. Feel free to add your own on.

I would like your opinion on a post I saw on tumblr, this post is defending Jiraiya as a good teacher: https://odditiesinnaruto.tumblr.com/post/649929660408512512/jiraiya-was-a-terrible-teacher-to-naruto-because
This is kinda a long and messy response, but I hope you get what I’m trying to say lol. Thanks for asking!
In general, I find it weird when people blame the children in situations where adults had responsibility.
This is a problem that I have with a lot of people in the Naruto fandom because I just feel like they don’t understand that when something is wrong with a child, it’s almost always the fault of an adult.
Like??? They need to go watch Spirited Away so they can see Hayao Miyazaki poetically explain the way adults neglect and ignore children.
A good teacher doesn’t have a 'teaching style.' A good teacher adapts to their students learning style. Most teachers don’t do this and that’s why we all hated almost all of our teachers growing up.
Is Naruto the sharpest knife in the drawer? No. Is he my favorite character? Definitely not. Do I have problems with his character? Absolutely. BUT it is not an exaggeration to say that every single notable adult in his life failed him EXCEPT Iruka (KING).
The Third Hokage? Pretty much abandoned him.
Kakashi? Allowed his trauma to affect his ability to teach and only valued Naruto because he was Minato’s son.
And Jiraiya. God do I hate him.
Jiraiya failed Naruto a lot. For conciseness I’ll just sum it up using bullet points.
He didn’t come back to Konoha to raise Naruto when he found out about MinaKushi’s death. He was Naruto’s godfather, which was the closest thing Naruto had to family. Not to mention Minato gave him the key to Naruto’s seal for a reason. Some might say, “The Third Hokage wouldn’t have let him.” But Jiraiya was a Sannin and a Sage. He could’ve just said tough and taken Naruto anyway but he didn’t. I don’t like the way this post acts like Naruto got some huge privilege in getting Jiraiya for a mentor. Jiraiya should have always taken care of Naruto.
When Jiraiya teaches Naruto the Rasengan, he just kind of dumps him in the forest for like 6 weeks until he teaches himself. He also constantly compares Naruto to Minato. And imagine how much quicker Naruto would have learned (and they would have found Tsunade) if Jiraiya hadn’t spent most of the trip hanging out in brothels.
Then (unrelated to training) Jiraiya, who should know how much Naruto needs a positive parental figure in his life, constantly abandons Naruto so that he can write porn. When you decide to take on the responsibility of a child, it is now your responsibility to take care of that child. It doesn’t matter how ‘inconvenient’ it is for you.
After almost three years away, Naruto has learned basically nothing. He’s improved on techniques that he taught himself but that’s about it. When you compare that to Sakura and Sasuke’s improvement during the time skip, it doesn’t look great.
Both the toads and Killer B teach Naruto more than Jiraiya ever taught him. So Naruto isn’t an unteachable idiot. His problem is that no one ever had the patience to actually sit down and teach him.
Now this post brings up the fact that the Ame Orphans learned a lot from Jiraiya. I would argue that this was due to it being necessary for their survival. And let’s not forget that after three years, Jiraiya abandoned them to fend for themselves in the middle of a war torn country. And also not forget, that both Nagato and Konan resented Jiraiya for doing that. Ultimately, Jiraiya’s neglect of his students cost him his life, so yeah I do think he earned a death like the one he got.
Not to get all serious on everybody’s asses, but I tend to be overly observant of the way adults treat children (even in fiction and fandom culture) because I plan on adopting teenagers eventually. When you want to adopt kids you have to understand that most of their behavior and mindset come from the adults around them. So patience is incredibly important when dealing with them. You have to be careful how you treat a neglected child because you could trigger them or further their trauma.
It is a responsibility to be put in charge of a child not a privilege bestowed upon that child.
There’s this horrible part of our culture (that is definitely the reason we’re all so fucked up btw) that believes that children are responsible for everything. HOLD ADULTS ACCOUNTABLE PEOPLE.
Kids are kids. They actually don’t think the same way that adults do because their brains aren’t finished developing. No amount of stupidity or bad behavior will make a child deserve abuse or neglect from the adults responsible for them.

I don't understand how some people are saying that Kakashi's story wasn't as sad as the others..
Tumblr media
1- Most likely his mother died giving birth to him based on the fact that his father said that no one died as young as her and there was no memories of her at all.
2- At the age of 4 his father has been disgraced for doing the right thing which is saving his friends and the whole Village looked down on him and treated them like trash which drove sakumo into severe depression
3- Few months later his father who was all he had killed himself and Kakashi a 4 years old child was the one to find his corpse and report his death to the Hokage, in Sakumo's funeral 4 years old Kakashi heard everyone at the funeral trash talking his father calling him, weak, traitor, disgrace including the friends he saved, they literally said "first he abandoned his mission then he committed something so weak as self harm, what a disgrace, we didn't even ask him to save us"
4- The village treated him as a son of a traitor which forced him to act only by the rules in fear of being like his father he forced himself to leave all of his emotions and childhood behind.
5- At this point Naruto and Sasuke had the 3rd hokage kinda looking after them (although he did a bad job at it) then assigning iruka to look after Naruto but Kakashi had no one at all he had to go fishing everyday in order to survive because he couldn't afford to buy food, he taught himself to cook from books and eat the fishes he cought himself everyday.
6- When he finally tried to let go and feel like he had friends and people who cared about him he was put in the exact same situation that killed his father choosing between the mission that would stop the war or his friends, his friend (Obito) died saving him telling him to protect the girl he loved (Rin) as his dying wish and giving him his eye which constantly reminded him of the pain he felt that day.
7- Few months later the girl who was his only friend now (Rin) and who he promised his dead best friend (Obito) to protect chose to use him as a weapon to suicide, the Sharingan forced him to see Rin's blood on his hand everytime he looked at it.
8- Drowning on his pain, self beating, guilt, nightmares and waking up to see Rin's blood on his hand that wont wash off no matter how hard he tried like all of that wasn't enough agony his sensei who was the last person remained of the closest thing to family he had also died leaving him all alone drowning further into his depression.
9- he had PTSD and severe depression for more than 10 years, he wanted to die but he didn't wanna die the same way his father died so instead he was taking the most dangerous solo missions in Anbu hoping that one day the enemy would out number him ad kill him
10- When he finally saw a little hope by teaching team 7 and getting to love them Sasuke left the village and yet again he blamed himself for something that wasn't his fault and felt like he lost yet another loved one.
He spent his whole life suffering between the graves of all the people who had been precious to him.. he almost lost everything and everyone he loved. He never had a childhood at all and as an adult he tried so hard to distance himself from the world and hide his pain behind acting nonchalant which wasn't how he truly felt because he was afraid of getting too close to people just to end up losing them again not only that, his friend that he spent his whole life idolizing and living by his memory turned out to be the master mind of the biggest terrorist organization and declared the war, he had to fight him then watch him dying all over again.

Rating Naruto Dads: Lost and Found Edition
(These dads are all either found throughout the characters’ journeys or absent for some time before returning to meet with their child - Original Dad Rating Here)
Kakashi: 7.5/10. Is the only adult in Sasuke’s life consistently trying to show that he cares and instill values in him. Gave Naruto a basket of non-ramen related vegetables. Pulls back the child leash when his kids are about do something crazy. Doesn’t spend as much quality dad time with Sakura as the boys, but to be fair she has another perfectly good dad. Offered substitute parenting to almost every teenage ninja we know. Used his ninja presidency to bail his teenage terrorist son out of jail. Always catches his kids before they hit the ground. -2.5 for entering his students in the Chunin exams at age 12, but hey, he was given the parental equivalent of trying to defuse a bomb. B+ for effort.
Yamato: 7/10. A reliable dad energy, who expects his kids to be the best version of themselves. Excellent in woodshop, a highly demanded Dad Quality. Tucked Naruto into bed after his panic attack. Tried to get to know his step-son Sasuke. Gets mad at people for hurting his kids’ feelings. Co-parented with Kakashi in Part II. Much like Sakumo in the first post, here for a good time, not a long time. Helped Kakashi to organize Naruto’s wedding and wanted to make the Uzumaki fam a wholeass house in Konoha Hiden. His points are lost purely for blowing in and out of their lives like a summer breeze. I am very biased.
Gai: 8.5/10. Very similar to Dai. Instills great values, protects his kids, pulls the child leash, supports Lee through his every journey, vibe checks Neji as needed. Incredible dad energy. Teeny deductions for teaching the self-destruction jutsu and for suggesting a suicide pact with a thirteen-year-old re: Lee’s operation. But hey, eyebrow-taijutsu solidarity.
Kaiza: 9/10. Do you remember Inari’s stepdad, way back in the Wave arc? He was pretty cool. Industrious, kind, buff dad. Once again, I don’t know if you should tell a six-year-old when you love something you should die for it, but I understand the moral of the story.
Jiraiya: :S/10. My culture doesn’t have godfathers but I’m not sure that’s what you’re supposed to do when they make you one.
Zabuza: 4.5/10. Rescued, mentored and loved his adopted son Haku but only expressed it fully for it after he’d jumped in front of a jutsu. Really did not help Haku form a healthy worldview. Use your words, Zabuza!!
Minato Again But As a Zombie: 7/10. Cries because he is so proud of Naruto. Openly enamoured with his wife, a pleasant asset in any dad. Teaches Naruto a fun new jutsu he learned in Ninja Purgatory. Tries to resurrect him from the dead. Spends time with him on his birthday, which is arguably the only time we’ve ever seen a father do that in Naruto. He’s learning from his mistakes.
Kurenai: 10/10. As the primary source of actual parenting for both Hinata and Mirai, Kurenai is an honorary dad. Takes Hinata under her wing and is proud of her perseverance, and maintains the most well-adjusted team of any of the jonin sensei. Enjoys spicy food and alcohol, making her perfect Dad Company at a barbecue. Honourable mention to Asuma, who would also be okay company at a barbecue (RIP).

BNHA/Naruto reincarnation au
Ok ok so the trope is that one character is reincarnated into another world, either as another character or as a new insert in the world right?  I had a kind of cracky idea for this one.
It’s a bit long but basically a ton of characters from My Hero die during the War arc and are reincarnated as Naruto characters, which changes canon timeline but not a ton at first because they all think they’re the only one. Like, literally Minato is All Might, Aizawa is Kakashi - Team 7 is Izuku (Naruto - trust me I know it’s weird, but nearly-adult Izuku in a child’s body is here to cause problems on purpose), Bakugou (Sakura - the temper and eventually the ability to smash boulders? Yes. I know Naruto and Sakura could be flipped but I have Reasons), and Todoroki (Sasuke - evil older brother, fire stuff, kinda stoic) - there’s more under the cut because I don’t have the energy to write an actual entire fic but I need to put it down. Maybe at some point I’ll write the rest.
Yagi thought it was a dream for a while.  Thought it was a nightmare, some days - but being Namikaze Minato was oddly satisfying in that he earned every bit of his power along the way.  He was proud of it, the strength and speed and intellect. The only person he ever told about his old world was Kushina - and she believed him.  His heart ached when his team fought and died and fought more - he tried to reach Kakashi in his grief, but the boy wasn’t happy.
Aizawa doesn’t tell a soul that he’s someone else, that he’s a fraud, not a genius.  He doesn’t dare make a friend in Obito or Rin, still aching because all he can think is Mic and Oboro and his fucking class all gone.  Minato’s sunny smiles in the midst of being a deadly destroyer of armies makes him think of All Might and Izuku, the heroes, the best of them.  It hurts when it’s all taken away, and he uses his knowledge of how not to strain eye-related powers to cover his Sharingan when not in use and dives into ANBU to avoid thinking too hard about everything.
Touya aches. He’s a genius of his clan, blew his first fireball so hot that it charred his throat for a week and glowed blue-white instead of red. This world doesn’t leave him burned beyond repair, and killing isn’t what makes a villain - but he still becomes one, for his little brother’s sake, because while Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Shouto are gone, he still has Sasuke. (Another suicide mission fueled by revenge - only this time it’s him that has to die in the end, not his father.)  Itachi’s new flames are black, not blue.
Hawks is tired of lies.  So tired of being loyal to a system that’s full of false promises.  He might be a shark instead of a bird now, but he still flies the coop and joins up with a group that comfortably reminds him of the League.
Izuku grieves everyone - of course he does - in the quiet of his little apartment. He’s reminded again and again of the fact that he’s different for whatever reason.  This time, instead of crying, he shouts - he laughs - he pranks the shit out of everyone to just be noticed for something that’s actually under his control.  If he can’t be the #1 hero, then dammit he’ll be Hokage - the strongest leader he can manage to be.
Katsuki doesn’t know what the fuck to do. One, he’s become a girl - gender didn’t really matter all that much to him compared to strength and intelligence before, but it was still weird. What frustrated her more was his lack of quirk - explosions had defined Bakugou for so long that frankly, she was still going to research Iwa’s explosion corps and do something about that to add to her repertoire. Somewhere along the line Ino attached to her like the limpet Kirishima and Mina always had - getting up in her personal space without caring one way or another, understanding when she refused to speak, encouraging her temper every once in a while. The one annoying thing is that Ino interpreted her need to get stronger than the current projected Rookie of the Year as a crush.  Which - no. Sasuke was objectively good looking for a kid, but he was also intellectually a hell of a lot younger than Katsuki-Sakura, and he always uncomfortably reminded her of Todoroki.
Shouto thrives at first - glad not to be the only one with expectations, even if he winces at the idea of an older brother shouldering so much responsibility.  He lives for having an older brother to look up to, to get close to.  He’s a little miffed that his clan’s specialty is fire-based, but hey, at least his father doesn’t expect him to be his successor - until he does. Until Itachi starts going on more and more missions, poking his forehead and saying “Another time, little brother,” more and more often. And then the massacre happens, and Sasuke wonders why he ever trusted that things would be so stable and ok.  He’s going to get strong, drag Itachi kicking and screaming back to Konoha, and rip his eyes out so he never does that again.
...
Kakashi is late again. Sasuke was more irritable than usual - after Wave, their sensei had promised to help him learn the Ice Release that Haku had done, and he’d really wanted to have that in his arsenal to have something more familiar. Sakura and Naruto had begun sparring in their boredom, and in the middle of it, Naruto slipped and hit one of Sakura’s sore spots from the mission.  She snarled.
“Fucking deku, what the hell!” she said.
Naruto yelped and fell forward, following through too far on a punch, eyes wide.  Sasuke stared, blinking.
“Interesting,” said Kakashi’s voice behind them.  Sasuke was staring at Sakura in shock, and Naruto looked like he was staring at a ghost.  Sakura’s cheeks were turning pink.
“What are you looking at me like that for?!” she demanded.
“Problem children,” Kakashi said.  All three faces whipped to face him, mouths gaping, eyes wide.
“ . . . Aizawa-sensei?” asked Shouto quietly.
“What?” demanded Bakugou.  “All of us?  Who the fuck are-Icy-hot? Deku?”
“Kacchan!” Izuku’s expression on Naruto’s features was - well.  Kakashi cursed inwardly - had things gone well, fuck, he’d be the kid’s older brother figure.  This wouldn’t have gone this far.  But the elation of not being alone was too much, even with that sting of he was right in front of me and I did nothing.
“If we’re all back here,” Sasuke said quietly, “Who else might be?”
“Well, this changes things for us, but not for anyone else,” Kakashi explained.  “As far as the world knows, we’re the same as we’ve always been.  However, you studying Iwa explosion tactics and you wanting to learn ice release jutsus makes a lot more sense now.”
. . .
Gaara had always had it in him to destroy.  From dust to sand to death - it was all the same.  The Ichibi raging against a jagged seal had only exacerbated an already damaged mind, one that couldn’t handle the empty space where All for One used to be. Instead stood rage.
Yashamaru had helped, for a while. Gaara had almost even considered telling his greatest secret to his siblings - that he was once a terrible monster of a human, Shigaraki - but his uncle’s death shattered that thought quite thoroughly.  That was all it took to turn him once again into a monster, until a kid with another tailed beast inside him raged against his pain hard enough to scrape at his most protected secret: He didn’t want to be a monster or a villain.
Naruto had that blinding smile as he fought he’d only seen a few times before - on Midoriya Izuku.
. . .
When Itachi next faced Sasuke, he had expected pain and rage.
Instead, his little brother created a prison of ice mirrors, Sharingan flashing as he finished the sequence of signs.  His teammates screamed from outside the dome, and Itachi grimaced as he readied a stance - when had Sasuke learned anything about ice?  Why would he -
“You’re going to give me answers, aniki,” he said.  “One of which is this: Touya, what the hell?”
Itachi stared.  And stared.
“You-Shouto?”
“Apologies for not having the hair dye remover and livestream set up, but yes,” he replied.
. . .
Shikamaru was . . . well.  He wasn’t an idiot.  Talking about reincarnation and heroes and another life was a way to get a trip to T&I and never leave.  It didn’t mean he didn’t use his skills - Aizawa would be proud of how lazy his son had gotten in his next life, he bet.
So when he saw Team Seven act a lot differently at the beginning of the chunin exams than he recalled, he was on high alert to find out what was going on. Naruto had learned some level of volume control, Sakura had tempered whatever her issue with Sasuke was, and Sasuke had - not softened, but definitely cooled off.  Seemed more attentive to his teammates.
And Kakashi had certainly become more present, if the way they were presenting themselves with high-quality gear was any indication.
Chunin Exams, Sports Festival - didn’t matter, he was still going to prove himself. No matter the fact he didn’t have his quirk anymore, he still kept asking questions.
“Hey, Sakura.  Naruto. Sasuke. You ready for this?”
“We’re going to pass,” Sakura said. “No other option.”  He raised a brow.
“You sure about that?”
“Sakura-chan said it, so she means it,” said Naruto.  Sasuke nodded.
“What about you and your team?”
“Well, it’d be a drag to take the exam again. Guess I’ve got to get the promotion now,” he sad, sticking his hands in his pockets. “Gotta scope out the competition - I’m not here to make friends.”
All three stiffened, and Naruto’s eyes lit up.
“Shinsou!”
Shikamaru spluttered.
“Wh-what?!”
“You’re not the only one,” said Sakura immediately.  “Shoulda figured, eyebags. Would have thought Aizawa would be a Nara too, but it still fits.” Shikamaru was, of course, reeling.
“Aizawa’s here?!  Wait, who are you three, then, if you know?”
“I’m Deku,” said Naruto, and yeah, that tracked.
“Who the fuck else?” asked Sakura, and yep, her temper and Bakugou’s were just about the same amount of hair-trigger.  Which left -
“And you’re Todoroki,” he said.  Sasuke nodded.
“Kakashi’s Aizawa.  He’s gonna be really glad that you’re here, Shinsou. Talk to him when you get the chance.”
. . .
“You might be a monster, but so am I,” Naruto insisted as Gaara’s wild gaze turned on him.
“No, no, I was born a monster,” Gaara insisted. “I destroyed everything I touched, it all was decay, I ended a world -”
Oh. Oh.
“And All for One’s gone now,” he said.
The Ichibi’s form flickered, and the sand surrounding the boy flailed whiplike and dangerous.
. . .
Naruto entered the seal and frowned.  It - his body, his spirit felt different. Somewhere between Naruto and Izuku. The mindscape shimmered, and a blond figure stepped forward - the First Hokage. But another step forward, and he shifted into someone else equally, no, more familiar. Naruto choked.
“All Might?!” he gasped. “You’re the Fourth?  But - how - how is this?” he was helpless for words. Minato stiffened, staring at how the spirit before him shifted back and forth between a young man with whisker marks and blue eyes and a mop of green fluffy hair.
“Izuku? You’re Naruto?” he asked quietly. His son nodded vigorously.
“It seems I’ve bestowed quite the power and burden on you twice over,” he mused.  “Come here.  It’s not every day a father gets to see his son for the first time in over a decade,” he said, arms open.  Naruto blinked.
“My - my father?”
“Yes,” he said with a sad smile. “I only ever told your mother about my past life. She even believed me!”
Izuku-Naruto stumbled forward and sobbed into Minato-Yagi’s shoulder, clutching him tightly.
It’s not just us,” he said, “Aizawa and Todoroki and Kacchan and Shinsou and - there’s more out there, I’m sure of it. Not everyone, but more. And I’m going to save them all this time.”
Minato smiled.

The Garden Chapter 7
They shared his bed. The night was quiet. Sasuke was not asleep when Sakura shook his shoulder.
“Sasuke,” she urged. “I know what to do.” Her eyes shone in the dark.
“Hm?”
“To make the village safe for you. And your clan.”
“Don’t, Sakura,” he warned. Sasuke could not allow himself to be filled with her hope. It was already hard enough to hold her knowing she could not stay.
“Please listen to me,” she insisted.
She told him her idea.
They talked until dawn.
*
Sakura and Sasuke left for Konoha.
Sakura had some conversations.
She gathered a group.
They went to the elders.
Sakura announced, “I’m here to discuss reparations for the Uchiha clan.”
Unhappy murmurings filled the council room. “With all due respect, Sakura-san, what business is this of yours?” asked Ito-sama, the head of the council.
“The future wellbeing of the Uchiha line is a matter that interests many leaf shinobi,” she replied. She gestured to the crowd behind her.
Knowing Sakura’s reputation, and with the added pressure of a crowd, the council relented.
“I’m giving the floor to Uchiha Sasuke to list his demands,” Sakura stated.
Sakura turned to find Sasuke. He moved to join her on the floor through a tense silence. The elders had not expected him.
Sasuke met Sakura’s gaze for a moment, steeling himself. Then he began.
“A law will pass immediately in Konoha that outlaws organized violence against its own citizens.
“No clan shall be forced to live in isolation from the rest of the village. Representatives from each clan will form their own council to discuss and quell conflicts and disagreement before they arise.
“No shinobi of any clan shall be forced to act in service to the village against their clan.
“Konoha will formally apologize for its role in the massacre of the Uchiha clan. The village will also formally apologize to Uchiha Itachi.
“The history of the Uchiha clan will be taught at the academy to all shinobi to ensure the tragedy will never be forgotten or repeated.
“Future descendants of the Uchiha clan—and members of all clans—will have the right to choose when, if ever, to invoke their bloodline traits in service of the village.”
The room held its breath.
Ito-sama said, “We will need time to consider the possibility of this request.”
Sakura bowed in deference. Except a soft ring in his ears, Sasuke could feel nothing at all.
Their friends and teammates had gathered. Naruto and Hinata. Choji, Ino, and Shikamaru. Sakura’s whole team of medical shinobi. Tsunade and Kakashi. Their murmurs of displeasure filled the room. Words loaded on their tongues. They prepared to fire their voices in solidarity.
Sakura wasn’t done.
“Thank you for your time, council. We understand completely. Ito-sama, how is your wife?” she suddenly wondered. “I hope the ache in her knee has cleared?”
The councilman blinked at her inquisitive face, then answered, “She is well after the treatment you gave her.”
Sakura beamed at him. “I’m very happy to hear that. Nakamura-sama, is your son still teething?”
One by one, she called out to each member of the council with a voice like sugar. She reminded them of all the times she had personally benefitted the lives of them and their families. Once they were shifting uncomfortably, Sakura smiled. “It is my great honor to serve not only you and your families, but all citizens of Konoha—and to train the next generation of medical shinobi.” She lowered her head. “My whole team cares deeply about this issue, of course. Healing and justice are intertwined efforts. We will wait eagerly to hear your decision.”
Sakura was the picture of innocence. The councilmembers became very aware of all the medical ninja in the crowd.
It was no hidden secret that in a few short years, Sakura had advanced the medical systems and infrastructure of the village decades into the future. The rate of mortality on missions had lowered significantly thanks to her work.
It was also no secret that Sakura had hand-picked and trained a majority of the shinobi that now staffed the Konoha hospital and were deployed on missions. Her team was indebted and loyal to her.
Konoha would fall apart without Sakura and her subordinates.
She had leveraged all of her power.
The council stewed.
* * * *
They were Genin.
Sakura and Sasuke sparred while Naruto and Kakashi observed from afar.
No matter what she did, Sasuke always managed to duck behind her and win the fight. After many rounds with the same outcome, he scolded, “Maybe if you just kept an eye on your opponent, you wouldn’t lose all the time.”
Sakura clenched her fists at her side. “You’re being really mean today,” she snapped.
“You’re so annoying.”
“You’re not that great either, Sasuke!”
They fumed.
He lunged again at her. Pooling chakra in the soles of her feet, she bounded up the side of a nearby tree. Jumping off as hard as she could, she sprung into the air and landed on her feet behind him. She touched the tip of a kunai between his shoulder blades.
The clone substitution disappeared with a puff.
Panting, she spun around to find him. She braced herself for how he might berate her next.
“I told you to keep an eye on your enemy,” he said. She started to scowl. He caught her off guard with a smile. His eyes glinted with pride.
 *
Sasuke held a kunai to her throat. With any wrong move his blade would cut her. He bared his teeth in a cruel smile. For the first time, she was afraid of him. This moment never left her nightmares.
 *
In an uncertain alliance, they fought together on the battlefield. Sakura released her full strength. She healed battalions without breaking a sweat. She ripped open the earth like ripping paper.
To Naruto and Sasuke’s astonished faces, she growled, “Do you think Tsunade is the only Legendary Sanin who failed to teach her student?”
 *
Sasuke had given up on his revenge.
“I’m sorry,” he told her for the first time.
Sakura was not ready to forgive him. She did not care if his apology was sincere. She was so angry.
“You fucking better be sorry,” she snarled.
She could not stop crying.
 *
The war was over. Sasuke did not stay in the village. She did not expect him to, even though she asked him to stay. His absence had not been an anomaly for a long time.
Sakura had her studies and responsibilities, friends and family to worry about. She had ideas on how to make Konoha better and safer for all shinobi.
News of Sasuke’s whereabouts and activities sometimes found their way to Sakura, scrambled through dozens of sources. Only on difficult nights did she wonder if he would return.
 *
Years passed. They were adults.
He came back to the village one spring evening. Naruto showed up after a long hospital shift to tell her the news.
Sakura did not seek him out. First her commitments at the hospital prevented her, and then her apprehension prevented her.
The moment they finally saw each other was unplanned, under a blossoming tree on the outskirts of the village.
Sakura couldn’t decide how to proceed. Anger was familiar and safe. It would feel good, and he spoke the language. Kindness was unpredictable. Did she have kindness left for him?
He stood with his arms crossed, eyebrows drawn together, his mouth weighed down in a frown. They appraised each other. If she didn’t know any better, she’d call him indifferent, cold.
His eyes gave him away. They were too bright. He was waiting for her decision.
She hated him. They were tied together. She was not ready to be close again. She’d always loved him.
She made a choice.
“I’m glad you’re safe,” she said.
Sasuke uncrossed his arms.
He said, “Sakura.”
* * * *
The council had to decide. They could pass laws and meet demands that should have already been fulfilled. Or they could refuse and fall out of Sakura’s good will. They might lose the best medical shinobi in the village and arguably the known world. They risked upsetting the many shinobi who followed her, the very people who ensured the safety, health, and well-being of the entire village.
It came down to this: Konoha could not afford to fall out of Sakura’s good will.
*
The agreement was drawn on the spot and all conditions were met.
In one afternoon, Sasuke and Sakura secured the legal safety and autonomy of the future Uchiha line.
When the crowd erupted in boisterous celebration, Sakura felt dizzy.
The work was not done. Sakura thought of how else she might transform the village. She would disband the village council, for one. She would tear down the structures of power that had enabled even the thought of an organized massacre. She thought about what she wanted for her future. Her children’s future. She reimagined the world. She would start tomorrow.
The room faded away. All she could see was Sasuke, all she could feel was his light touch on her arm.
For now, Sasuke was home.
*
When it was officially done, Sasuke reached out for Sakura to steady himself. He was no longer in the room. He could only see the faces that made up his clan. His mother and father. Itachi. He saw a life spent with Sakura. He saw small hands helping in the garden.

All I wanted is for Sakura and Sasuke to find themselves in a world where they could be honestly and fully together. So they made that world themselves.
References: 1. In Chapter 3, as I already mentioned, the moment where Sasuke tells Sakura what he’s heard of her abilities was inspired heavily by a scene in Folklore by the author BlushingLotus. 2. Other elements of this fic (like Sasuke’s turmoil over the future wellbeing of his children) were inspired by where the daylight begins by ohwhatsherface (sun-summoning on tumblr) 3. The smut fic that first got me interested in SasuSaku was Hot Water by WellHowAboutThat.
I am so grateful to these talented authors for their inspiration in my writing and wanted to give credit where it is due. If you enjoyed this fic, definitely read the work by these authors as well! They have been writing SasuSaku for longer than I have. Their work is all on FFN/linked. This fic was the first piece of creative writing I've done in years. It wrote itself. Thank you so much everyone for following along. Please let me know if you’d like to see more SasuSaku from me. I hope you are all safe and well, and I’m sending you all my love.

Headcanons pt. 3
To get thus out of the way. I feel like Hinata wouldn't have as much pressure in the next life. Sure she might compete in the same things like Neji.
But wouldn't be ridiculed about it because she was very honest about it with her father.
Lunch - High school
Itachi sometimes skips college or his police academy and just sits on campus with them. He brings enough for everyone if he remembers them. But it’s fine because both Neji and Itachi text each other and plan ahead, just in case.
No one notices that these seniors are having lunch with sophomores. But then again, everyone looks like a senior in that group to the student body and staff.
The cafeteria was their place in the winter because it was too cold to go outside. Every other season was set outside in the courtyard. They have a place deemed “theirs” and refuse to share it with others. Absolute will fight anyone that goes near their table.
Naruto does football but only quarterback because he’s there to only throw.
He has a ‘dog’ named Kurama and always plays frisbees with him. Because it feels like throwing a shuriken. Naruto does tricks with them. Like throwing two at a time and trying to go the other direction but it never works out.
Sasuke does Track. Other things like Hurdles and long jump.
Naruto, at some point: So sasuke runs from his family and his gay problems.
Tenten versus Lee in any Martial arts. Usually mixed, but if they want any specifics, tae juan do is a good stress reliever, for Tenten.
Competitive archery Neji and casual archery Hinata. Neji also does Kendo along with Hinata; She still presses flowers in her journals.
Sakura would definitely be in S.T.U.D.C.O. like office aid, student rep, or any sort of authority position. She was left spiker until she became the Ace of the Volleyball team. Tried to do softball and hated it, then she joined the mixed baseball team and loved it.
Ino would definitely have been in every single program, at least once. Orchestra first, band next, Choir sometimes, did gynanism for fun. Hates cheerleaders, does step team.
Sai is a punk as bitch for any art club. All if not most of his artwork are in the library hung up.
Shikamaru hangs out with juniors that have a steady supply of marijuana. But he also enjoys a good cigarette more than marijuana because that shit fucks with him.
Choji hangs out in the culinary hallway with his girlfriend Karui, because she aspires to be a chief. The culinary teachers also know Choji because they let him eat the leftovers and he suggests new and exciting flavors for them. It’s usually good but sometimes there’s a bad batch.
Kiba would be like the kid you go to or one of the kids that has a side business, within the school. Like he has snacks, school supplies, or marijana. He’s your go to guy.
Kiba has Akamaru as a service dog within the school, since he cant sneak him in without being spotted. He was approved with a doctors note.
Shino likes computer programming. The essence of computers and how smoothly a program could run makes him feel accomplished and so happy. And when he finally gets it? Oof. Euphoria.
He sometimes does web coding for fun and fucks around with his tumblr page.
Shino and Shikamaru both have a mutual respect towards each other. Because Shikamaru has this uncanny ability to find bugs and crash games on PC.
Naruto surprisingly built the PC for him, he manually updates new parts and makes sure everything is good to run. Shino makes mods for his games, like GTA V, Minecraft, GMod.
They stream it sometimes and it's just great content for themselves.
It used to be San Andreas but the game kept bugging out all the time, so they updated to V.
Sometimes both Naruto and Hinata dip the group during lunch to visit their little siblings. By blood or not, they both deeply care about their younger siblings. Naruto goes through the forest to visit Honomaru. While Hinata goes down the grave path and enjoys the creeks, nature around her.
They both end up at the same school regardless of how much it takes the other to get there but they both enjoy seeing the faces of their respected siblings. And it’s all worth it in the end.
Their missing hands.
Sometimes when Naruto is away in College he completely forgets that his right hand is perfectly fine and not at all gone, damaged, or artificial. So he just doesn’t use it until someone questions why he couldn’t grab something and they point out his arm.
Shikamaru: Why can’t you use your hand?
Naruto: Huh? What are you on ab-
Naruto finally notices his arm and lightly squeezes.
Naruto: I thought I lost it in the war.
Shikamaru: Wha-
Naruto: But I got my brother back. Where’s sasuwuke?
Shikamaru: Naruto, you saw him just yesterday.
Naruto: Yesterday! Why didn’t he visit me today?
Sakura: He’s a block away, Naruto. How about you visit him?
Naruto: That asshole! I thought he was still at the Wave village?
Sakura: No you idiot, he just sent a letter last week, he’s in the Sound now.
Again, once out of the trance, both are very confused.
Hinata and Sasuke marry. Well almost. Both Sasuke and Hinata are very private and didn’t want to tell anyone about the engagement but have spent a couple of months planning. And when the subject of her wedding dress came up.
Hinata: How about a kimono, like before?
Sasuke: Huh?
Hinata: Yeah, like my wedding with-
Sasuke and Hinata look at each other and realize that they were about to marry the wrong person.
Hinata: D-do we continue?
Sasuke: I mean we don’t have a date, and the invites aren’t out yet. No one knows about this and we aren’t exactly marrying because we love each other.
Hinata nods in understanding and sighs deeply.
Hinata: Then who am I supposed to marry? And what am I supposed to do with the ring?
Sasuke: I don’t care as long as I get my sword.
Hinata: Yeah, whatever you want teme.
Hinata immediately realizes who she was supposed to marry and so does Sasuke.
They call up a certain pinkette and blonde and set up a meeting.
Hinata, still knowing her gentle first, from memory and will abruptly start training. If everyone tries to stop her, she takes it as a challenger and will fight them. She stops once Neji is there.
Hinata Hyuuga or Hinata Hyuga. She often calls the wrong punctuation for the Hyuga estate.
It's changed to only one u.
Since Hinata’s mother, Hana, is alive, they didn’t set a garden in her honor.
Hinata: Where’s mother’s garden?
Ko: Her what?
Hinata: Her garden, because she died.
Ko: U-uh, Hinata-sama.
Hana comes out to see what is taking them so long: What sweetie?
Hinata looks at her mother and smiles softly. She looks around again and tries to look for her training trees.
Hinata: Where’s my tree?
Neji follows soon after: What tree?
Hinata softly smiles but looks at the bow and arrow that is in his hand. Having come back from training, Neji is still in his gear and sets Hinata out of her trance.
Tiny Hinata misses her flowers. She does replant her garden but she also scared the ever living crap out of anyone because of her ominous message before.
Neji and Hinata accidentally outing each other's sexuality. While at the mall, they both notice an attractive couple and look at them approvingly. Then they turn to each other and nod their head in understanding.
Hinata: The Girl, right?
Neji: The Boy, right?
Now they often tease each other about boys and girls alike. Sasuke is often caught up on the teasing.
Since it’s mostly done in sign language and he can’t help when he notices the straight face that Hinata makes when she signs. “Gay sex” and points at Sasuke.
Neji curses and walks away, then Tenten, Lee and Hinata are following Neji like ducklings. All signing "Gay sex" Sasuke is losing his mind.
BI hinata and Neji.
Family reunions with the Uchiha!
Since there was no big massacre, everyone sort of lives and drives everyone up the wall with their attitude.
Sasuke can’t handle them so he brings Naruto. And everyone kind of loves Naruto, so they accept him as an honorary Uchiha.
Adult life?
Because I get that Hinata and Naruto married at like 21 and had boruto a couple of years later. So I really want Hinata to have followed the same feeling except a couple of years earlier. Same with the other girls and their pregnancy months. Because that’s hilarious.
Neji and Tenten finally get together and him not dying. Just the potential wholesomeness about that makes me happy.
No one knows who the fuck Rock Lee hooks up with. Like he dips for 2 years and comes back with a baby named Metal. Tenten is super worried because Rock has a kind of pure innocence to him, in regards to sex.
Tenten: Did you get roofied? Are you okay? How did you end up with a kid?
Rock: What’s a roofie? Is that a drink?
Tenten: Kind of, but don’t worry about it.
Neji: What’s with the kid?
Rock: He’s my son, say hi Metal!
Metal is a baby and gurgles at them. They are very shocked, but not surprised. Because it’s Rock Lee. A musclehead that doesn’t want to stop training.
So anything is possible
Childhood ?
Naruto has his parents, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Obito, Rin and many others. In this life but one time when he woke up to the house being empty, he just started crying.
16, very confused and just sits for about an hour in one spot holding his crystal necklace. His Mom walks in with groceries, with his Father right behind her carrying more groceries.
Naruto: Oh thank god, I thought you guys died again.
Kushina: What, no, never again! Right Dear?
Minato: I’m not going to sacrifice myself again anytime soon, if that’s what you’re worried about.
Breaking out of the trance, they question themselves and their memories. More so, their past life.
Sasuke abruptly hates Itachi and sometimes tries to kill him in his teenage years.
Sasuke: You bastard! How could you do that to our clan!
Itachi: Foolish little brother. You still haven’t caught up to me.
Sasuke is in a kenta stance but nothing is in his hand and itachi is very confused as to why he is staring at Sasuke with his hands in a very weird hand symbol.

Blinding Lights.
TheOwlsBride
Summary:
Kakashi is bored, he is tired, and he thinks a lot. He is a bit lost, and with a repetitive tume in his mind. He thinks maybe Sakura is the answer to all his sorrows.
Notes:
(I recomend to read while listening to The weekend Blind lights.)
He was so bored! Utterly bored. Exhaustion painting all over his face, at least the visible part to people's eyes, and he could swear without a trace of doubt that the other half, the forbidden one showed the same. He smiled to himself at the thought. When was the last time that somebody has seen his face complete and unmasked? A doctor or two, perhaps, yes. After so many battles, so many missions, so many wars, it was kind of inevitable. They had seen the face under the black spandex mask attached to his sleeveless uniform shirt, sure, but his real face? The one under the mask that lays under the mask? He wasn't even sure how long has it pass since he, himself, dare to take a look at it. Of course, he knew his face, features and marks: his history written all over it. But facing it in front of the mirror reflection, and acknowledge his true deep self was something else. Something that he wasn't able to do, he didn't have the strength, not even the will to do it. It was terrifying and unsettling and even more now that he was the Hokage. It was funny, almost hilarious. One day he was the favourite Anbu prodigy, and the other he was the old Hokage of Konoha. Ironically he never wanted it. Of course, he was devoted to his village, he would do everything for his people, to protect them, take care and try his best to improve everyone's lives, he had a past to back him up. He had sacrificed more than anyone for Konoha, even his closest ones. His hands had been stained with blood, and he could still see them stained. The ghosts haunted him every night, sometimes they didn't even let him sleep; even so, he had given everything he had to attend to the needs of his village. He had obeyed orders without saying a word. He had executed each mission in silence, knowing that he would bear the consequences of them on his shoulders forever. He had seen friends die, some of them twice, and yet he had always moved on without looking back so as not to become a monster. He had seen his students grow up into adults, those who he once protected, trained and guide through the dark path of being a Shinobi, were now all grown-ups living their own lives as they pleased. And yet here he was, with a job he didn't desire but accepted anyway, why? Because he loved Konoha, despite everything. He looked through the window, the sun was starting to set as it did the city. The times were changing, everything seems so peaceful now through the sunset light, and yet he felt anxiety deep in his core. Something he couldn't even explain to himself. He wondered how all the Hokages did it before him. How they went through the most terrible times, and instead, now that was definitely peace and calm, he didn't know what to do. He was feeling lost, craving for a past that was no better but at least made him forget how it felt to be Hatake Kakashi for a while. He got up from his chair and went to the window. Once again, he looked at the horizon and sighed. He has hunched over again, a posture he had adopted over time, not because he couldn't stand upright, but so they wouldn't see him. Perhaps that way he went unnoticed, a way to make no one expect anything from him. This position served him well. He could seem carefree, oblivious to what was happening around him, sometimes unattainable, lazy and even occasionally irresponsible. Yet, there he was, in the highest position to which anyone can aspire. The truth was that he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, and he even wasn't feeling that old yet. He started thinking in Tsunade, what a woman. She was powerful, determinate, strong. The sannin was a force to reckon, she had been a great Hokage, even with her fierce character and her unusual orders and behaviour. He would like to talk to her now, but it was not the time.
He wondered what she could do at moments like these ones when the situation was critical, but it didn't have anything to do with external menaces, civilian crisis, or whatever. He smiled to himself. The Godaime would have drunk until she lost consciousness and reason. She would get so drunk that her doubts and fears would be clouded by the alcohol and the next morning she would have moved on. He wasn't sure he could do the same. The problem with alcohol is that it seems to have different effects on each person. He knew it well. He wasn't much of a drinker, but the times he tried to drink his worries away, he ended up being an idiot: drinking leads him to think, and thinking makes him feel idiotic. The Hokage tower was already empty, Shikamaru was the last one to leave after asking Kakashi once and again if he needed it something. The kid had always been smart, or he was becoming more transparent over the years. Can everyone read him like an open book now? Kakashi dismissed Shikamaru waving his hand nonchalantly. Nothing the boy said or did could get him out of the bad mood he was in at the time. What would they talk about anyway? He wasn't going to tell the Nara boy nothing about his boredom, his anxiety, his lack of enthusiasm about his work, or for that matter, the loneliness he was feeling. There, he said it. Loneliness. How much a simple word could hurt? Apparently, a lot.
Despite his own good judgment, he went to the cabinet where he knew Tsunade kept her private stock of sake that for some reason (as if she knew he was going to need it sooner or later) was left behind. The first drink was harsh, it was always the same, the burning throat, the tears that leapt involuntarily from his eyes and the chill that ran down his back, bristling the hair on the back of his neck. The second drink was already more friendly, and the third was almost like a brother's hug, not that he knew how it felt. It was a matter of time for everything that was well enclosed in his thoughts to begin to flow in front of his eyes. Now without his Hokage robe sitting on the frame of the large window watching everything go dark, he began to think, shit, damnend sake.
It had been a while since he had seen his former students. Each of them had moved on with their lives and actually pretty well, sadly without much from his help. Sasuke had grown up, now he was a Shinobi who as always, preferred solitude and did not spend too much time in Konoha. Quite the opposite. He was quite elusive and spent more time outside the village than with his own. Kakashi didn't manage to make him stay longer than necessary and knew that the young Uchiha would never abandon the shadow that always surrounded him like ghosts of the past. He had achieved his redemption, but for Sasuke, nothing seemed enough. One of three: he had not been able to save him, not that time after tying the boy to a tree so that he would not leave on the night when he spoke as he had never done to anyone, with sincerity, and it was not even close enough to make the boy stay. Sasuke was never who he was again. Naruto, on the other hand, was a force about to explode. If Kakashi thought that Sasuke was more similar to him, was absolutely wrong. He didn't feel so smart right now. He would have to have realized that Naruto was actually the one who had embraced resilience like no one else. Naruto was light, Sasuke was dark, and that had confused him. Maybe Naruto was the boy who suffered so much, the loneliness, the loss of his parents, rejection, just like him, but that smile that shone like the sun had been able to mislead him. Kakashi was disappointed by this. However, the blond boy with the biggest sky eyes he had ever seen would soon become his successor. He really hoped it would be sooner rather than later. Naruto had grown so much. Sometimes he was envious of Jiraya: if only he had trained the boy more, paid more attention to him. Even though he knew he did everything in his willpower for Naruto. He knew that with the sannin, he had achieved things that he would never have otherwise. At times, Kakashi felt that he had failed his sensei, but he also knew that everything had been the best decision. While Sasuke was the prodigal son, Naruto was the light in everyone's life, the one who could be trusted and the one who would always be there for everyone. He had taken it for granted on more than one occasion, but things were what they were, and he knew that despite his irrational guilt, they had worked. Two of three.
His fourth or fifth sake was finally dedicated to Sakura. The sweet and temperamental Sakura. Without knowing why Kakashi believed that she was his biggest fault. Hadn't he been able to see her as she really was at the time? Speaking of taking things for granted. Sakura had a natural talent, her handling of the chakra, her superior intelligence, her ability to see beyond, could almost be compared to Shikamaru's mind. And that was saying a lot. But there was something about her that at that moment kept him away. Just as he knew that the twelve-year-old girl was a talent, a diamond in the rough also knew that at times she lacked the necessary security to be a good kunoichi. Despite the determination of her effort and tenacity, Sakura's emotions could take her to early doom. Kakashi couldn't bear to lose his student, not again. He was sure that Sakura's kunoichi path was determined by her unconditional love for Sasuke, she used to breathed and lived for him. And that was weakness, Emotions are never good for a shinobi. Getting very close to the other, mixing feelings, exposing oneself was a foolish thing: however that had been his most important rule, never abandoning a partner. Yet in his days as sensei, he still judged the young girl's decisions based on her personal detachment and total surrender to the Uchiha boy. And as in a record that is repeated over and over again, Sakura had also changed him. She had been trained under the wing of the Godaime herself, Sakura become her apprentice, almost a daughter. Tsunade had known how to draw even the smallest drop of talent out of Sakura. She had formed the girl in her image and likeness, she had taught her to shine, to become strong, responsible and unique. Sakura had a power that no one else did. She had made her own path, and although many could still feel that they were not enough or that she had not evolved as much as her companions, Kakashi knew that she had been the strongest of all. She had overcome the onslaught of war, hardened his heart without turning into a heartless monster. All the love she had ever felt for Sasuke had turned into a love for her owns, and she had saved more lives than any other shinobi in a war. Sakura was talented, dedicated, gave everything she had for others and did not hesitate to pawn her own needs in favour of those in need. Sakura had put too much aside. That would never change, and now he was proud of the woman she had become. When had she gone from being the impatient and impulsive pink-haired girl to becoming the most powerful woman he knew? Three out of three. Kakashi smiled at the thought of Sakura. Of his three students, she was the one with whom he had the most contact. Now she ran the hospital and gave him the reports every night. She could send any assistants; however, Sakura enjoyed doing it herself. As if she still needed approval in her work. She wanted to show him night after night that she had finally broken her own limits and had become one of the most valuable people in the village. No one would steal the pleasure of recounting her advances, her success in surgery, or the development of a new antidote. No one would take away the possibility of showing him in his face that she was worth it.
Sakura didn't have to prove herself to anyone, less to him. Kakashi knew her well. Sakura had become a woman to recognize, the childish gleam in her green eyes was now was the gleam of a woman determined to achieve all her goals. To teach everyone that the world was a better place, that no matter how many bad things happened, there was always room for light. Sakura, like him, had sacrificed everything for the others. She had changed her childhood love for Sasuke in pursuit of her goals. A time had come when she had matured. Her dream of a happy life with the last of the Uchiha clan had turned into a nightmare. Kakashi hated Sasuke a little for making her suffer. Sakura was the purest and most genuine being he knew, and the young man had never been able to recognize her. He had never abandoned his selfishness, and the pink-haired girl paid the consequences silently and stoically. Kakashi had done nothing to prevent it, and yet Sakura didn't need anyone to defend her or make her see reality. She had chosen the best for herself and left illusions behind. Instead, she embraced her work, her missions, her learning, and now the health of all of Konoha. Kakashi was proud of her and at the same time sorry that he hadn't been a little more part of this revealing process sometimes hard. A process that had dragged the tenacious and cheerful Sakura through darkness and loneliness, something they had in common even though they had never spoken about it. If there's one thing Kakashi could boast of, was his ability to read people. He was able to see the subtle changes in his former student. He could see how she bit her lower lip when she was nervous, when something didn't go the way she wanted or when she felt that tears were about to burst. He could see the sparkle in her eyes in all splendour but also how they faded the moment any topic related to her work was over. Sakura could in one moment go from being the brightest beacon in Konoha talking about a new project and in the next one turn off and get lost in the distance with a gloomy look. She was absorbed in her daily activities, and when they ended, there seemed nothing left for her. Why did the shinobi life always have to be so contradictory and painful? Whereas Naruto would always have Hinata to come back and take refuge in her arms. Sakura only had the solitude of her apartment and the occasional chat with Ino, and he was sure that was not what completed her the most. Sakura, like him, understood loneliness, only that unlike him, Sakura never let herself down and was ready to move on. She would not spend hours sheltering in her office looking through the window, sighing and lamenting her fate. Sakura would always do something to change her situation, and that was what most captivated him. Sakura was sure that better things were ahead for her to come. He does not. And that's why he respected her. The sake had already taken its toll on his head and his thoughts. Kakashi had foreseen it, but almost as if he had wanted something like this to happen, he was satisfied with the evolution of the night. He had reflected on his situation, he kept drowning in how heavy being a Hokage seemed to him, despite knowing that he was up to the task, and he had returned to thinking about his students, especially about Sakura.
She was the one she had the most contact with, He saw her every day, and they sometimes talked for hours. Kakashi had witnessed every change in the girl, and along the way, he had also changed. Sakura was a woman, she had grown so much that he hadn't even realized when exactly she had done it. For some reason seeing her at night was the motivation of his days. Talking to someone who had similar feelings comforted him. He also couldn't deny the natural beauty that Sakura had become. He had to remind himself every time that she was his student, but still, couldn't help himself. It was not an explicit beauty that Sakura possessed, not like many of the kunoichis in the village. Sakura's beauty remained in the air once she left the place. It lingered there even hours after her absence. It was subtle, like a sweet fragrance in the wind: her shadow, her power, her smile. Kakashi had come to the conclusion that he liked all of Sakura. He punished himself, Sakura was a child, and he, he was not. He punished himself for not being able to see Sakura as just a colleague. He didn't know when things had changed. He had the need to be with her even without even noticing it. At some point in his long hours of solitude, Sakura had occupied his mind offering him some comfort. Not even his precious Icha Icha could satisfy him anymore, and it wasn't even that he wanted to put into practice with the girl with soft pink hair everything he read there. Kakashi knew how to separate the difference between fiction and reality well. Sakura was much more than just an erotic novel. So he never touched his hand, Sakura was all he wanted. Perverted. Sakura ... if there was someone who could get him out of this state even for a little while it was her. It was ridiculous. He thought of Tsunade once again, the Godaime would punish him only for his thoughts. He would end up for days lying in a hospital bed and live in shame forever. Still, at the same time, he couldn't help but see the woman's honey-coloured eyes telling him that Sakura was more mature than many of the adults around. That she was no longer a child and that wanting her was not a sin when it comes to two adults looking for the same path. Kakashi did the math. The age gap was a reality, but it was no longer so noticeable. In fact, he knew a lot of couples with the same age difference and even more, and nobody judged them, but he was the Hokage, and he couldn't afford those luxuries. Yet there he was, sitting in the window of his office craving for Sakura's company as if she were the only one who could appease the anxiety he felt that night. He was drowning in himself, and no one else could rescue him. He didn't even understand those feelings. He had to finish all this, so he took his things and left the tower walking out.
Kakashi looked around the city, it was already cold and empty. He sighed in relieved. No one was around to judge him, and he could see clearly where he was going. He had been alone long enough and deep inside he hoped Sakura could help him. Maybe she can show him how to love. She didn't even have to do too much, he knew she could turn him on with just a word or a touch. Between the sake and the lights, Kakashi was blinded, he was drowning in the night, and the feeling was tortuous. He only needed to find her, to feel her touch. A touch that let him sleep in this awful night full of ghost. Kakashi knew that in situations like this, Sakura was the only one in which he could trust. Even if she didn't have to do much, even if she didn't know a single thing about his feelings. Even if she doesn't feel the same. Kakashi knew the way pretty well, and he wasn't that drank, he was walking to Konoha Hospital. He was running of the time, Sakura would leave the place anytime soon, and everything would be lost. He wouldn't let her go tonight. Kakashi turned the corner, and there she was, walking Home. Sakura was still in her working clothes, tiredness all over her face. She was in ow when she saw him. Was she afraid?
"Hokage-Sama?" was all Sakura could say before wrinkle her nose, already, inspecting Kakashi's look as in a medical interview. Surely she thought he was injured again, or sick, or drank for the matter.
"Maa, Sa Ku Ra" Always pretending. "Drop the title, please."
"What are you doing here Sen... Kakashi?
" I've been tryna call.
Notes:
This is my first fic in Naruto verse. I've dreamed with this song: Blinding Lights for a few days, and always was Kakashi plaguing these dreams, and I don't know why I think it feets perfect. Please I would love to read what you think, I really do. If you hated please don't say anything I will realize anyway. If you like it instead you know what to do. Should I write what Sakura fells??? up to now its something just one-sided. so.... I'll be waiting.

An Invincible Summer - ShanaStoryteller, AO3
Link: Here!!
Rating: T for read the warnings, but don’t worry too much because of them
Favorite Quote(s): I legit wanna tattoo this next quote on me somewhere
"Oh, the things that can be accomplished through ignorance of their impossibility,"
And this Straight Up Fact
“There’s no such thing as cheating as long as you win,” Natsu says, and the brat’s not wrong.
This one’s just funny
“Chouza,” Inoichi forces himself to say evenly, “Your teachings produced Ebisu and goddamned Gai.”
“Genma’s pretty normal though,” Chouza sighs, “I never could get through to that boy.”
Gently Gai casually caring about Kakashi’s well-being is my entire reason for living, speaking of which if someone wants to come be my Gai that’d be really fucking nice because us Kakashi’s don’t do too well on our own
He hesitates, but says, "Not that I do not find your newfound mentorship to be a most youthful endeavor, but -"
"I don't know," Kakashi interrupts his friend, "I met her while she was taking her genin exam and she, I don't know, adopted me or something. She just keeps showing up."
Gai nods thoughtfully, "Stubbornness is a useful skill to have when trying to cultivate a friendship with you." Kakashi elbows the other man, but doesn't protest besides that. "She's a good cook."
And this one because I love it when people Get It, ya’know?
That's really why he won't say anything, why he won't reveal that the Kyuubi's container and the fourth Hokage's child is still alive: they already killed him once. Naruto and Shikamaru are the same age, they would have been in the same class, and the idea that anyone could want to harm his innocent, precious son makes his blood boil
And this one, for accuracy
"This sounds like a most youthful endeavor. I will bring Anko! She will fan the flames of youth in our young Konoha blossom!"
Both Itachi and Kakashi look at Gai, horrified. "Please don't," Itachi says weakly, like he knows it'll fall on deaf ears but he has to try anyway.
"Don't worry," Gai attempts to assure them, going into his Good Guy pose, "They will produce youthful flames of feminine excellence!"
"They're going to burn down Konoha," Kakashi says flatly.
Gai's hair and teeth sparkle in the sunlight, and he doesn't attempt to deny it.
Another important one
"The world is a terrible place," she says, and she has to swallow before she speaks again, "and it's full of terrible people. But I don't have to be one of them."
I love that Natsu-chan has great balance, this is my number one favorite character trope, and I wish more people would write it
She bends down to look at him upside down, and Itachi can feel that she's not using chakra to stick onto him, and sometimes her balance just isn't logical.
I just love the idea of tiny genius Naruto, and I love that Natsu-chan is a seal master at like, fucking seven and a half lol
Itachi knows it's actually far more complicated than that, but just as he does not tell her minutia of the past shinobi wars in their history lessons, she does not overcomplicate her explanations of sealing. Usually he's grateful for that, but when she appears to break every known law to sealing and chakra, he's not.
"That's," he blinks and he's not going to tell her it's impossible because it clearly isn't, "new," he settles on.
A mood honestly
Inoichi now feels the urge to bang his head against the table top, because 'a huge pain' to Natsu is 'literally impossible' to everyone else.
Another mood honestly
Inoichi watches his former genin dig in with resignation. “When are you guys going to start picking up the tab? Feeding you all isn’t cheap you know.”
Hana swallows her mouthful, “Sensei, I am but a lone healer’s apprentice –“
“I have been a chunin less than a month,” Kabuto pouts, wounded, “and already you seek to profit-“
“Do you have any idea how much sealing paper and ink costs?” Natsu demands.
“Okay, okay,” Inoichi grumbles, but it’s not very effective considering he’s smiling, “I take it back, jeez.”
Okay so, since this is a 100k+ word fic, I’ve been doing this thing lately literally just now on this fic review where I only feature quotes from the first chapter (Depending on length.) but, I’m making an exception because I’ve never seen these three characters and my thoughts on them summed up so well by someone I don’t know which is to say anyone, no one I know cares about my interests really lol
"Maybe a little," he admits grudgingly, "Sakura's really smart, but she acts dumb for some reason. And her endurance is really bad. She probably would have been failed on that alone if she didn't have such good aim with shuriken. And Sasuke's good at like, everything, I still don't get why he didn't graduate earlier. He's just so-" Kiba rubs his hand over his face.
"So what?" Hana prompts, even though she's heard this particular complaint before.
"Sad," the genin sighs, "He's miserable all the time, and he works hard and if you yell at him for long enough he'll work with you, but - crap, I don't know. He's got this really great poker face so you think he's just a big jerk, but I can smell his emotions, the big idiot, and he's just this sad lonely kid who won't listen to anyone."
Hana hums, because if she opens her mouth she'll probably start cursing the Hokage and his dumb rules and his dumb ideas, and that is not the type of thing that leads to a long life.
Just one last quote because dudes, guys, pals, friends of mine it’s important and you should all stop and read it.
“Thanks for being cool with – everything. I’m really happy you’re not mad at me for not being honest with you.”
“You are my friend,” Gaara says warmly, “and you have always been honest about that.”
Words & Chapter(s): 136,306 words of greatness, and 6 full chapters of nicely done completion
Summary: When Naruto is five, he's gutted by a drunken civilian and presumed dead.
Six months later a girl with ash pale hair and dark blue eyes enters the Academy.
(Guys I swear on my cool as fuck username, and all around internet personality as practically satan and probably Lucifer and whatnot that nobody we like stays dead or severely injured)
Score: 13, this is one of my favorites for a reason, this is actually my second technically third time rereading this in as many weeks
Pairing(s): Uchiha Sasuke/Uzumaki Naruto Hatake Kakashi/Umino Iruka, background Haku/Zabuza, but don’t worry anything you’re thinking of is addressed quite nicely in the fic ultra background but still there’s a lot of relationships and I’m not going to tag them all
Warning(s): Naruto technically dies more than once because this is Naruto we’re talking about but they also technically don’t??? You gotta read it, but basically temporary character death, only the bad guys stay dead in this one.
Nobody knows that Naru-chan lived so there’s that angst for you, however, to be fair it’s not like this whole story is just characters mourning and crying and whatnot, at this point it’s mostly just passing thoughts and memories which, again, to be fair, does almost feel worse at times... Huh, regardless it’s not overly angsty
Tumblr media
Kakashi is adopted whether he likes it or not by Natsu-chan, we love both of our emotionally fucked over fair-haired ninja in this house so you won’t have to worry about that sorta fic coming outta nowhere from me BTW... but anyways, Kakashi freaks out a bit, much like the abused dog he always reminds me of, but Natsu is the sweetest and most gentle, yet forceful person he could’ve possibly caught the attention of. (This is canon)
The Akatsuki are still bad, BUT ITACHI ISN’T technically SO WHO FUCKING CARES!!!! (The Massacre still happens tho...)
Mentions of The Flower District and what that implies, and also things a Kunoichi might definitely do
Oh my fucking god the Hyuga... Who would willingly do something so horrible as that? Of all the things... Warning for... The Hyuga branch family situation, it’s dealt with nearly as soon as we are informed but, gods, my blood ran cold, and my face whited out, my sister thought someone had died when she saw my face haha,,, who the fuck does this? And do they die? In canon I mean? I think I only watched up to the chunin exams or Pein’s attack, I can’t remember which tho...
Natsu cries because people are nice to her sometimes. And honestly that’s fair, I burst into to tears once because I imagined someone kissing my forehead softly so, Natsu is completely valid... Sidenote, I’m touch-starved and have no cure for this beyond younger siblings and my cat because I don’t have the ability to ask my mom for a hug without literally gross sobbing and I have A Thing about embarrassment sooooo... yeah if anyone has some therapy justu for me that’d be nice
Mentions of Gross Men that apparently want to have Natsu’s increasingly growing collection of the absolute most dangerous people she can befriend pay them a visit. And by that, I mean an old fuckwit has the gall to leer at a TEN-YEAR-OLD and a FUCKING THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD!!!!!! Ugh, I hate those kinds of pathetic worms.
On that note, there is technically underaged things going on, but they are also Ninja soooo???? They’ve killed people and are technically in their version of an army, and by the laws of their lands they’re all adults, actually I’m pretty sure by shinobi life expectancy Kakashi is middle-aged, Inoichi is a senior citizen, and Hiruzen is a walking corpse tbh
Alcoholism??? I don’t really think it is but I’m not sure, but some characters do drink often, and usually when stressed courtesy of Natsu and co. but still... I don’t actually know if it is because it doesn’t actually happen much, more like every few weeks/months
Mentions of past sexual assault, and attempted past sexual assault, neither happen in fic or to any of our main characters, the experiences are not graphic though they do talk about it in chapter five, it’s not to graphically described.
Also, a bunch of off-screen lemon
A Thing (That I copy-pasted from the author so that all of you will see it and not say a single word against it.): If you thought Natsu was too mature for her age - she has seen and been through some really horrible shit. But also: my cousin has, since he was like 4, hung out with kids that were about 4 years older than him because those were the kids that were in his neighborhood or whatever. Point being, even after he started school, his main group of friends was consistently older than him. He very quickly adapted to that, and to this day (he's 12) hangs out with that same group, and considers children his own age 'kids' because he adapted to the behavior of the group he was surrounded with. I hardly believe Natsu would be any different.
And also
4. Quick little note because some people mentioned liking my portrayal of the Sandaime. I base his decisions/motivations (and Itachi and Danzo's to a certain extent) around this quote by Clementine von Radics: "It is so hard to live half monster, to hurt everything you love by trying to protect it wrong."
Pros: Watching Natsu just casually disregard the idea of gender with little to no thought is the greatest thing anyone will ever experience beyond, I dunno, the party we’re all gonna collectively throw when soggy Cheeto dies (I still haven’t decided which song we should make chart number one when that happens)
Given that I’ve technically read this three times you should already know the writing is fucking amazing, like, whoa, mind blown type of amazing, like, wow, so good, I usually hate rereading something I’ve read before, and especially so soon after the fact but geez Louis is this fic amazing
Tumblr media
Natsu is just as easy to fall in love with as Naruto, and they are still the same people with slightly different personalities as is to be realistically expected with a situation like Naru’s was.
Also, GENDERFLUID REPRESENTATION DONE FUCKING AMAZINGLY IS ALWAYS A PLUS!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
The author manages to convey a very realistic genderfluid character in an incredibly believable manner, while also still keeping Natsu/Naruto themself. They’re still the Naruto that we knew and loved, but they’re different too, as is to be expected. when Natsu is a girl no-one stumbles, she is a girl without a doubt, even the author doesn’t trip up on societal expectations, and when Naruto is a boy there is next to immediate acceptance of this fact with absolutely zero (0) Zero bullshit from transphobes, which, as a genderfluid person myself, is always fucking nice to see. You’ll have to read it to know more though.
Natsu running around creating seals is honestly the greatest thing ever, and the end scene with the village made me cry a lil bit, and dammit this fic is so fucking good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, there’s a scene, where Natsu heals Kakashi, and the way the author handled explaining the intimate not sexual relationship between two of my favorite characters ever is just, so subtly beautiful, the sibling-bond these two have is beautiful, and a part of me wants to cry sometimes when I read it, and usually do cry a little when I get to this scene, and only partially because of what happened directly before it.
I love the way everybody just gets up and moves past their trauma and just decides to politely ignore it, oh they still have it, they still deal with it, but they care, and they are careful about it, and even though it hurts them like a knife-wound to the kidney in slow-motion they still get back up and keep fucking going. That’s hella admirable and I can respect that, I can respect even more that they slowly but surely let themselves heal as time moves on. This fic is beautiful on so many different levels but it is this one perhaps, that is the most magnificent. Perhaps.
Sasuke is adorable and depressing and adorable and I love it. And Ino is still a bad bitch but she’s a kid so we only see it like a handful of times in the first two chapters. The Akimichi/Yamanaka/Nara are all great, and I occasionally pity Inionchicause like, he’s putting up with a well-informed seal genius that’s still hyper, a slightly frightening medic-kunoichi with giant dogs, another slightly more frightening medic-nin who isn’t the greatest fighter but damn can he be intimidating and also really good at pointing out “Certain Things” while judging you about them which, honestly, is my greatest pastime. Itachi is so sweet and then so tragic oh my gods, and Natsu never even considers giving up on him. Kakashi is so sweet, and he slowly becomes less of a beaten dog as time goes on and I just love all of these characters.
Except for Hiruzen. Well, no, I still love this particular incarnation of Hiruzen, for all that he’s got one hell of a pathetically small backbone, I get why he does shit. But that doesn’t make me happy. Still, he’s better than dumbledouchebag. Granted that’s not difficult, and you might have to actively put an effort in to be as bad as that guy, but still. Plus, his hearts in the right place, and he’s less about the greater good then... certain disgraces to teaching and being in charge of a large group of people... Hiruzen is actually kinda sweet and admits he has issues and actually has an excuse that’s understandable for the shit that he pulls which is great, if sadly uncommon.
Anyways, Sakura is terrifying, and I remembered why I had a crush on her. She’s so badass, also, she ends up Princess Mononoke basically which, honestly, is fucking great, and the best thing we could’ve asked for, I love all of these characters so much!!!
Aesthetic: It reminds me off beefy stew (We don’t eat beef, so we used vegan soy beef stuff instead, and it was just as good.) it reminds me of the warmth, and friendship, and home that I felt after my mom and I make dinner together with nothing but a little music on and jokes passing back and forth between us. It reminds me of scraping my knee and having my friends help me to their mom, it reminds me of loyalty and compassion. It reminds me of dancing outside at night, alone in the forest with nothing but the moon for company and wind for music. It reminds me of the first time I realized that I could love someone despite their gender and that I should despite mine. It reminds me of finely spun handmade lace, and all it’s delicate while also reminding me of the sturdiest of steels, it reminds me of so much. It reminds me of acceptance, and understanding, and so much more. If I were to say what food and drink it reminds me of, I’d say chicken noodle soup, and sweet lavender-lemon tea.
Music Aesthetic: So, I made a playlist while I was reading this the first time around, and instead of a gif or twenty like I would usually prefer to do I’m going to add that playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbhXmTSBbAyjk0m1b4BZUp3t0RHL83LDK
But if I were to add a gif or two it’d be these
Tumblr media
Because something about this fic reminds me of rainy days with tea and baggy clothes.
Tumblr media
Every time Natsu/Naruto decided to fight ever, to be honest.

Hear the Silence by EmptySurface - [Naruto, SI OC]
Russian Roulette by Vixen_Tail - [KHR, SI OC]
(For those who don’t know them.)
Harry Potter
Prince of the Dark Kingdom by Mizuni-sama - [AU] This one is… my all time favorite fic ever. It’s unfortunately not been updated since 2014 ;_; But still has 147 chapters. This is a ‘Voldemort won’ story where Harry stumbles back into the British Wizarding World and somehow Voldemort becomes his mentor. NOT Dark!Harry. That’s what’s so wonderful. You can see how the circumstances and changes in history led to everyone becoming the way they did while still being true to themselves.
Timely Errors by Worfe - [Harry Potter] A short sweet Harry-travels-to-the-Marauders-time fic. This actually has my favorite version of Harry.
Across the Universe by mira mirth - [Oneshot, time travel] This is… totally tropetastic and great. lmao. Like, you’ve got cynical Harry dimension traveling to a world where their Harry died that fateful Halloween night and James and Lily survived. The BWL is Neville. But it’s all from James’ pov who is simultaneously happy to have his first son back but is incredibly aware that Harry’s not what they expected to be.
Full circle by tetsurashian - [HUMOR, Harry/Voldemort] An absolute blast. This fic is so so fun. Harry and Voldemort/Tom have been in a neverending cycle of rebirth until they ended up in what seems to be their original timeline. There are all these amazing omake snapshots of their previous lives at the end of some chapters which are seriously amazing. My favorite so far is the life where they’re both girls who end up ruling their strict all girls-boarding school with an iron fist. lmao.
Ibex by AgeOfAlejandro - I will never get over how relieved I am I stumbled upon this fic again on AO3 after I thought I’d lost it forever years ago during one of FF.net’s purges. Uhh… how to explain this one. It’s Dark Lord Potter. The best version of dark!Harry imo. He’s manipulative and ruthless, but he still loves. All those things that make him care about people is still there. It’s just taken a backseat to what he feels is necessary. Last updated in 2012, so I’m not sure the author will come back to it, but it’s worth reading all the same.
Icarus by budchick - [Oneshot, Harry/Tom Riddle] It’s been a while since I read this. But Harry ends up in a world where Tom Riddle is raised by Tom Riddle Senior. It’s… well. He’s trying? But having a witch-boy who does some really scary shit and keeps traumatizing the servants is very stressful. Lol.
Naruto
Ghost by cywscross - [time travel] I am a trope whore. loool. So. We’ve got adult Naruto (aka Yuurei) time traveling to when his younger self was still with the original Team 7 to start off.  And, I gotta say I love it when the older self mentors the younger version of themselves trope. This is all from younger Naruto’s pov.
The Guardian Crow by dianamoth - [SI OC] SI is reincarnated as a summons. It’s such a good idea that makes way for a less complicated life when compared to other SIs honestly. So It’s good to relax with.
With Nothing On My Tongue by sunshineinwriting - [team 7-centric] Naruto’s use of the kage bunshin changes a lot of things in how he absorbs information and matures. It sends a ripple down to everyone. Badass little child soldiers everywhere.
Claws Amidst the Cracks by Undead Artist - [OC-centric] Not quite self-insert, but OC-centric. And INCREDIBLY BRUTAL. Definitely heed the warnings. It’s super intense and fucked up, and made me cry so many times. OC wakes up as Sasuke in the aftermath of the massacre. OC, who is from our world, did not have a great life either. Anyway, it’s brilliantly written and I love it, but I know some people just cannot with how graphic it can get.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Chroma Diamonds by Brick - [KHR, R27, 2772, R2772, AU] Slow burn, best burn. We’re nowhere near the romance bits, and it’s fantastic. The set up is: No one came to train this universe’s Tsuna (and yes, other dimensions existing is a plot point) and he grows up kind of twisted with his Flame sealed. Tsuna’s not… a bad person per se. But without anyone there to kick his ass into gear, he makes decisions that would probably freak out canon!Tsuna. Lots of Flame lore and culture. Namimori is a mafia retirement town. Ayye.
Colorire by The_Plot_Bunny_Whisperer - Just a feel-good SkyArcobaleno!Tsuna fic, good to relax with.
Welkin by Shivani - Another SkyArcobaleno!Tsuna fic. This one’s… huh, actually the only bashing fic on this list actually. Lol.
Sidelines by esama - In one of those other universes that taken over by Byakuran, this Tsuna is the only one who remembers it when things are returned to “normal” by canon!Yuni.
For the Love of the Game by metisket - [Yamamoto-centric, character study] This snippet covers it pretty well: “It strikes him as weird that he’s had to struggle not to kill people, that it’s been such a challenge. He’s pretty sure that for most people, not being a murderer is way easier than being one.“
Undertale
Metamorphose by tuesday and The Great Boondoggle by Masu_Trout - [Oneshots] These are written by two separate authors but they follow similar themes and characterizations of Frisk which I adore. Which is that Frisk isn’t some sweet baby angel. All those possible choices that the player can make in Undertale? Yea, that’s part of their history. Frisk made those choices to kill or be killed, to commit genocide, or be a pacifist. Chara isn’t a separate entity that exists as a convenient scapegoat who possessed them. All those awful and wonderful things are part of their personality. It’s great. That said, neither of these fics are heavy/angsty.
Orot by MiniNephthys - [Oneshot] Post-neutral ending. Frisk returns to the Underground.
Crossovers
The Warrior & The Wolf by worldtravellingfly - [HP x Naruto Crossover, Oneshot, Fem!Harry, Harry/Kakashi] Kakashi reincarnated as Sirius’ son.
Somewhere Far from Victory by ewfte - [Naruto x BnHA Crossover] Kakashi is reincarnated as Todoroki Shouto. I’m not really into bnha, so I usually have the wiki open to me as I’m reading. Lol. But it’s so entertaining. It’s fascinating (and sad) seeing what Kakashi makes of the world where he isn’t required to kill for his village from age 6, but still has to deal with… you know, Endeavor.
Whispers in Corners by esama - [HP x Sherlock, Harry/Mycroft] Harry makes a living as a “psychic” calling up the spirits of the dead. Mycroft hires him to tie up some loose ends, and they end up building a relationship.
Impetus by Crunchysunrises - [BtVS x Hunger Games] Buffy ends up in District 12. Which implies there’s more to life outside the Districts which is a no go for the Capital. So barely even understanding each other’s language, Buffy is “chosen” for the Hunger Games. It’s amazing. Because Buffy’s this sweet delicate looking valley girl who likes makeup and looking good, but she can still kick the ass out of anyone in the Districts, and they don’t see it coming.
Others
Apples Equals Cyanide Equals Light by Silver Pard - [Death Note] A highly entertaining introspective by Ryuk about Light. Who really really was very different from other humans.
Brightly Burning by Aishuu - [Hikaru no Go] For want of nail. Basically, what if Hikaru hadn’t joined the Go world until after Sai disappeared? Hikaru is fucking terrifyingly strong and depressed, is what. This last updated in 2009… so probably discontinued. Lol.
No One Left To Blame by Wix - [Oneshot, Team Iron Man, Not Team-Cap Friendly] A one-shot that pretty neatly encapsulates what I think Team Cap deserved post-Civil War.
A Disturbance Beside Him by ghuune - [Daria, Daria/Trent, Smut] It’s sexy definitely, but it’s their characterization during and about sex with each other that really really sells it.
THIS ENDED UP SO MUCH LONGER THAN I EXPECTED. I guess I had a lot more on my rec list than I thought. Or rather, when it comes to my favorite fics I always have to say something about it, don’t I? Whoops.

“Arranged Love”- Part Two „Red ribbon”
She sat at her mother's bed. She slowly soaked the sponge with water and then washed the skin of the sleeping woman with it. She shouldn’t have deal with this, but when she saw how maids treated the sick woman, she chased them away. It didn’t change the fact that now  she should serve her husband not mom. Once again she felt disgust. She did not dream about such a life. Although she has long ago abandoned naive plans to follow her father's footsteps, she hoped that she will be able to become Miko. She definitely preferred to serve gods and people, rather than just one self-loving man. However, in the current situation, that wasn’t the main thing she was thinking about. The pain after his father's death was still fresh. Although two months have passed since his funeral, she still could not believe it. She often caught herself on that she expected him to return. It did not seem real that he would never see him again. After the information about her husband's death, her mother's health deteriorated sharply. Her mother was sick for many years, but now she barely found the strength to get up from the bed. Looking at her, she could not stop the growing fear at the thought that she would leave her soon too.
“I think that this hand can’t be any cleaner... “ she heard a melodic voice. She looked up at the smiling face of pink-haired woman .
"Good morning" she replied and smile back, "How are you?”
"Uh ... It used to be better ... Although I'm more interested in how you feel ?" In spite of her pain, her mother was still worried about her more than she was about herself. Involuntarily, she sighed. "Everything is okay? Sarada did he ...
"No... We did not even do it," she replied. “He preferred to talk ...”
“I knew that Naruto's son must be kind ...”
"Or prefer servants," replied the black-haired woman under her breath.
“What?” Sakura asked.
“Nothing important...”
“Sarada. I know you did not dream about it ... I and Dad would do anything to make you happy ...”
“Mom, you do not have to ... It's the only way to defend Naka from plundering. Nobody dares to attack the emperor's land, especially now ... “she stopped when felt touch on her hand. Her mother gently pulled her to hug her tight.
You know perfectly well that it isn’t what I mean. I will not ... I do not know how long I can be with you. Naruto was a friend of your father from an early age. I know that you will be safe here ...” Black-haired girl instinctively snuggled into her
“You should not call the Emperor by name” - she reminded to which the older woman reacted with laughter. “You know, your father called him a dope... I think we know each other too long to follow the court's etiquette”
Sarada nodded in pity. How many stories she heard about the times when father and mother grew up in the royal court. Sasuke as a son of Shogun was sent to the palace for study with sensei Kakashi Hakate. Her mother was the daughter of the castle servants, but because of her extraordinary beauty, she was taken to learn in order to become an imperator’s concubine... However, the friendship that was born between her parents and the young emperor thwarted many adult plans. Everything changed when the army of Danzo attacked Naka. In one night all members of the Uchiha clan were murdered. The only survivor was her father who was then in the capital. It took him 7 years to regain his hometown and defeat the forces of the Shimura. However, she did not know the details of what happen then. Her parents didn’t want to talk about it. When she finished thinking the door to the room opened. Empress stood in them carrying a pot of tea. Sarada quickly stood up to bow to the arrived, which she replied with a smile.
"Good morning Sakura, Sarada, nice to see you," queen welcomed them, putting tea at the nightstand
“Sakura, how are you feeling? “ moments later, the emperor appeared in the room, putting the youngest girl in a consternation - I see that my beautiful daughter-in-law  is also here!” he shouted patting her on the head “My son is lucky, amazing that Sasuke bastard became the father of such beauty. You probably have all the genes after mom ...
-Naruto! - the menacing tone of the pink-haired woman stopped the emperor.
Hinata-sama did not look happy about his words either.
“I'm sorry, I know, I should not speak ill of the dead, but it's hard to believe that teme is dead ...”- the blond sighed. Everyone in the room became sad. Seeing this empress, she decided to change the subject.
“Um .. Sarada, have you met Himawari?
The girl looked at her questioningly, not knowing what that sunflower is ...
“Uh ... Younger sister of Boruto, Himawari. You know ... She was very happy that now she would have an older sister ... She is 8 years old, so she does not understand everything yet, but she really wanted to meet you, "she said smiling.
"True, why do not you go and visit her, and we will talk to Sakura-chan?" said blond.
Black-haired girl felt like she was 10 years old again. It was hard to tell her how she felt about that the royal couple treated her like a child. On the one hand, she felt anger, in the end, it was them who married her with their son, making her an adult. On the other ... It made her feel safe . However, no matter what she think about this situation, every request of the emperor should be treated as an order. She got up and, bowing to the elders, left the room.
...................... Finding the rooms of her sister-in-law was not easy. Although the Uchiha residence in Naka was not small, the imperial palace was enormous. She had already lost hope of finding herself in these intricate labyrinths, when something furred had grazed her feet. She froze. Moments later, another animal ran out from the next door, followed by a little girl dressed in a multi-colored kimono.
“Kurama no! “ she shouted after the fox.
If it was not shocking enough, moments after that she felt the weight on her shoulder. When she turned her head, she saw the frightened Tanuki suspended on her hand. “You should be friends with Shukaku and not chase him! Oh! Sarada-nee !?
The confused girl only nodded.
-Wooow, sister is so pretty... Let's have play! - shouted a 8-year-old girl and before she could protest, she was dragged into the chamber. The room was a mess. Scattered ribbons, paint stains, two buried beds for animals, and after that a bed and a huge wardrobe with scattered clothes. In the middle of it all, a frightened babysitter stood.
“Princess, you can not ... Oh! “  she started, but she quickly bowed when she saw Sarada. Black-haired returned the gesture.
“Nana, you can go ... Sister will take care of me” a small Uzumaki smiled. The governess opened her mouth for a moment as if she wanted to resist but when she saw the fox returning to the room she apparently found that it was better to evacuate because a moment later she was gone.
"Will you help me comb Kuraama?" Asked the blue-eyed girl, trying to catch the unfortunate animal.
“Comb?”
"I must put a ribbon on his tail to make him look kawaii ..." she replied
"Um ... Are you sure he likes it?" She asked, looking at the frightened animal. Himawari looked at her pet and then at the ribbons in her hands.
“D-does not look like ... But the ribbons are so pretty” she sighed .
“You know ... What is nice for people does not have to be nice for animals “ Uchiha crouch next to her - Look at Kurama, the gods gave him beautiful fur, he don’t need additional decorations ...
The girl looked at her with understanding. Then, without any warning, she hugged her.
“Nee-chan is sooo smart!”
Black-haired had no idea how to react. She was not used to such close contacts with strangers, but on the other hand, it was hard not to like the little princess. She gently stroked her head. "Don’t you think you should clean up here?" She replied, looking around the room.
“Huh? There's no need , maids will do it ...”
“But it's your room and I do not think your pets are feeling well in this mess.”
Himawari looked at the fox and tanuki animals were stressed by frequent entanglement in different clothes and ribbons.
"I think you're right," she replied sadly.
Sarada smiled.
"I can help you and then we'll play, okay?" She asked. The younger returned her smile.
“Hai”
.................................... It did not take long for them to clean this room. It is true that more work was done by the older, this little Uzumaki didn’t hesitate. Finally, the beds of animals were also tidy and this time they set them on opposite sides of the room to give Kurama and Shukaku time to get used to each other. The eight-year-old seemed to be proud of the new decor she received.
"And now she wants to brush  sister’s hair!", She grinned, holding a brush and a bunch of ribbons in her hand. For some reason, this sight caused Sarada to have shivers . However, the promise is a promise, so she obediently sat down on the floor.
"Can I use all the ribbons?" Asked the girl innocently, but it did not make her feel better.
“Um ... Or maybe it's better to start from one? “
"Okay but  the longest," replied the blue-eyed girl, pulling a red ribbon from the cabinet.
She agreed. At that moment, she did not see anything strange about it. The problem appeared when it turned out that the ribbon is 20 meters long. So after finishing combing, she continued to follow her like a veil.
“What do you think?”
“Hn... It’s pretty - it's not that she lied. Indeed, the hairstyle was not ugly, as to the practicability you could argue, but she did not have the heart to deprive smile of this little girl.
“What are we going to play now " she heard her voice, but the colors of red and orange spreading through the room clearly suggested that the night was approaching.
"I think that soon enough you should go to sleep soon, right?" The young princess's smile was soon gone. Sarada felt strange. As if a strong instinct told her to do something to comfort her. So she did what she knew the most. Before she could think her fingers: the index and middle were on the girl's forehead.
"Next time," she said, smiling, seeing surprise of blue-eyed girl. Then she realized what she had just done. She felt strong pressure in the chest and growing panic.
“I have to go” she said before she left the room. Her step was accelerated just like her breath. Emotions from the previous 2 months have been flowing her again. Shock and pain when her father's body was brought to their estate in Naka. She missed her breath and felt dark in front of her eyes. She felt that she was all shaking, but she could not control herself. She missed her father, she missed her home, she was afraid for her mother, she felt far too much. She did not know how much time had passed till she regained contact with reality. She was in her husband's room. She was not sure how she got here, but she was grateful she was alone. She hate to cry in the presence of others. Still slightly shaky, she tried to get up from the floor. As she leaned against the chests of drawers, her eyes fell on the katana lying on it in a decorative package. She took a closer look at the blade, which was really well done. Despite of the richness of decoration, they did not interfere with holding the handles, nor did they change the fluidity of the movements with the sword. Curious, she took it in her hand. It was heavy, far heavier and longer than her katana, but well balanced. The steel from which it was made also seemed to be the highest, but the blade was dull and dirty. Involuntarily she winced, even the most beautiful work of art not preserved will become a trash. Instinctively she looked into the dresser in search of tools to clean the blade and quickly found them. Cleansing and sharpening took her much longer than normal. Applying the last layers of maintenance oil she felt that she was calm. For some reason, even such a prosaic act was able to bring her at least a substitute of home. Carefully, she put the katana back in place and was about to move into the bathroom when she almost get heart attack with the impetus of the open door. Her husband ran into the room and did not notice the red ribbon stretched across the ground. A moment later she felt a heavy burden on her and then she was lying on the floor. When she opened her eyes she had two blue irises in front of her. She felt that she was breathless. Why had not she noticed that they looked like this ... As if someone had cut them out of a piece of sky.
"Ugh ..." her thoughts were interrupted by the voice and movement of the future emperor, who tried to get up, but the red ribbon entangled them like some spider web "What the hell is that?" He asked. However, she had no idea what to answer.
“I-I’m sorry” she answered after a moment.
She felt his surprised eyes on her and then heard his sigh.  he stood up and goes to the chests of drawers.
"No problem," he replied, taking Katana and leaving room. He probably did not even notice that something changed with the blade. She slowly got up from the floor. Her husband was not bad... He was not cruel, he was no older than she was for 20 or 30 years. He did not treat her like an object, he did not look at her with superiority like most of the candidates for her fiancés whom her father dismissed. He did not have any of the features she feared so much, yet she had no idea how to get along with him. They were too different at the same time, both were still children, no matter what the letter of the law claimed. Probably none of them was delighted with the situation in which there were either. Resigned, she headed for the bathroom. She was tired of that day, a quick bath should relax her a bit... Or maybe not ... A good fifteen minutes took her to persuade the servants that she really can wash herself without their help. They really think that she will undress herself in the presence of 5 strangers?
................................... The following weeks in the imperial palace passed in a similar manner. She looked after her mother every morning, then went to visit her sister-in-law. In the afternoon, she cleaned up her husband's katana, which was actually the only thing connecting her with him outside the bed they shared. They have hardly ever talked since the wedding. The exception was the official ceremony on which they had to put together as the future royal couple. Every day looked the same until one day when she get up and find the materials and sewing thread on the table. Everything looked very expensive. After the first shock she remembered the first and only conversation with blond. Instinctively, she made her way towards his sleeping form. After all, it was nice of him. She did not think she would remember something like that ... There was only one problem ... The girl had no idea about embroidering...
.............................. Sarada felt herself blushing when her mother's laughter filled practically the entire chamber.
"You hate embroidering ... W-why did you tell him that you like it?" pink-haired said trying to stop laughing.
“Tsh ... I do not know. I was thinking ... Uh ... I thought it was something that a good wife should be interested in ... - she replied even more embarrassed - Y-you will teach me this or not?
“Sarada, when you were 4 years old, you almost give the governess a heart attack by escaping through the window from the embroidery lessons ...”
“I know it! “ Oh Kami, why her mother have to teasing her like that ...
“Do not you think that such lies are a bad way to build a relationship?”
In spite of the fact that she knew that her mother wants to help her  at that moment she was too angry.
“Do not lie? My job is to look nice, curtsey, smile like a fool and give birth to sons! How can I be real in something like that? "She screamed as she rose from her chair. At first she wanted to run out of the room, but she stopped and sighed.
"I'm sorry, I should not have ..." she stuttered.
"It’s okay... I understand ... If you want to I will teach you this," Sakura replied.
.............................................................................................................................
Soooooooo...  there is another part and it is a little bit longer, but If I had to be honest I have the feeling that first chapter was better written... this time I am even less sure about that I translate it correctly.... so heh.. I hope It is readable...

Bloody Hands - Whumptober 2nd
If anybody thought that Obito never gets nightmares, they were wrong. There's a reason Obito is called "the sleepless" in gossips of ANBU (who are like a bunch of squealing highschoolers, sometimes funny, other times not so much). Obito gets nightmares all the time. He would've taken pills to take a normal, long sleep, but that won't ever be the case because he doesn't really need to sleep. Rin didn't believe that one quite, neither Kushina did, but after testing it a few times they got to the conclusion that Obito sleeps only because he misses it, just like eating (that got kind of logical as they saw Obito's "clay half" as most of his comrades calls it, the consistency is not near clay, but it is not flesh... not human flesh at least).
Uchiha Obito's world comes crashing down frequently.
The first time it came crashing down, was when he was small. Too small to even know when did it happen. But he remembers the warmth of his mother's embrace when she held him close to her chest while looking down at an unmoving corpse of Obito's father. That was when he was introduced to death, which he was meant to dance with a lot before he gets even to being ten-years-old.
After his father has passed away, his mother disappeared, when he retrieves memories from that time, he sees his own grandma more clearly than his mom. But he knows his mom loved him despite him being different, she seemed to even appreciate it more. Maybe it was just his imagination.
But he felt the pain all the same when one day he was driven into the hospital to see his mother hooked to machines and tubes. He remembers that every day he visited it and told his mom stories, he doesn't remember if she was in a coma, or if she just couldn't move a limb, but he recognizes that few days, or maybe a day before he assigned himself to the Ninja Academy, she was unattached from the tubes and machines and thrown into a grave. He recalls his grandmother and him talking about his mother and his father, his grandmother never directly answered to which parent he resembles more, or what traits he got from them.
He remembers when he woke up in the night once and went to get a glass of water for his dry throat. While drinking the water, he felt something cold crawl up his spine as he put the glass back and looked over his shoulder. The window was open and cold air blew inside the room, but he could swear it was closed moments before. Rubbing his eyes he walked up to it with intention of closing it, when suddenly there's a push and he's driven up to a wall with a sharp blade pressing and cutting the skin on his throat. Terrified, he screams and then chokes on his own blood as the ninja presses more to shut him up.
A moonlight reflects on the headband and the sign of Village Hidden in the Rock flashes in front of Obito's eyes. Back then he was so scared he thought he'd never be able to move his limb again, but years in Academy gave something to him, even if he was the one worst at rules and theoretical stuff. He stood frozen for a moment or two before he grabbed the man's arm with all the strength a ten-year-old could possess he pushed it back from his throat and did whatever he could - he just bit as hard as he could in the attacker's forearm. He felt the blood in his mouth for the first time that day. The attacker's plan was apparently to kidnap Uchiha child for some ransom (it made Obito afraid back in the day, but now he made jokes about how nobody would waste a penny for him if he ever got kidnapped), he didn't expect that the child could fight back.
Even if Obito was a cowardly Uchiha - a scream in the middle of the night, startled the Uchiha Officer that was patrolling the street. Coming through the same window as the attacker, he found Obito fighting desperately for life. There are unacceptable things even in the world of the damned Shinobi. Children aren't children for long, so seeing one being cornered by an adult triggered the officer's Sharingan without any effort.
It shocked the little boy Obito once was when an angry man suddenly turned still and looked down at the blade piercing through him. The man fell to the floor and his blood made it color red. The shocked ravenette suddenly felt the reality hit him, there was blood throughout his whole life everywhere. Even now, he was tasting it. He ignored the calls from his fellow clansman as he couldn't keep his eyes off the corpse.
That was when the reality of the world struck Obito Uchiha, who suffered so much loss but with no effect on activating Sharingan, so he was declared as a lost-cause and stripped from his last name as even his grandma's death two years after that didn't traumatize him enough to activate eyes of sorrow, hatred, and anger. People called him too naive and too innocent.
Obito became during the Chunin exams a murderer when a first person ever fell dead at his hand. For the next two years, he became an active murderer as he took part in the war. He wasn't sent to the frontlines until that one mission known as "Battle at the Kannabi Bridge". Kannabi Bridge today was nowhere to be found as it was blown up because of sabotage that two Chunins and a Jonin were able to commit. On their way, they lost one member of the team, but the mission was successful nevertheless.
By the age of fourteen Obito was freed from his awful nightmares. In his nightmares appeared people who always threw up with their blood at Obito's feet as they crippled and fell onto their knees.
Landing in Madara's cave after losing half of his body was something he'd never expect, but wasn't too much surprised. Rehabilitation of his body was more painful, but at least he didn't bleed. Over the years he learned to not vomit when he sees blood, but he can't help the freeze. He can't but cry when he sees blood because of the memories and made-up sick fantasizes his brain showed him.
It takes much shorter than everybody would think - especially Madara - for him to recover and gain the control over Hashirama cells in his body. He used his newly gotten Mokuton to make himself exit and wants to leave, but is stopped. Madara tells him about what the world can become, about the mighty Eternal Tsukuyomi - it even sounds tempting to stay, but Obito already promised someone to come home - even if he won't come without a scratch, he needs to at least tell Kushina he tried.
Zetsu informs him where to go to rejoice with team Minato, but doesn't think about informing the boy that they're in a really bad position and about to lose their lives. When Uchiha arrived at the scene he could see Minato, Rin and Kakashi fight for their lives, but then he noticed the numbers of the enemy.
They didn't stand a chance and Obito won't really help them much even with his Sharingan which he finally dared to bare itself and uncontrollable Mokuton... aside from that... He really can't imagine killing these much people- it is until Rin falls to the ground as an effect of Kakashi's first miscalculation Obito ever seen, or maybe Rin intented this to happen? All He sees is that Minato-sensei is worn out and looks even more worn out when he sees his two students fall. Obito never has seen Minato so broken, he never seen Kakashi so tired and he never even dared to think that Rin would ever get hurt.
His mind went blank with a searing, held back for years hatred, anger, sadness and mostly fear.
When he regains conciousness, he's all covered in blood. There's nusea in his stomach when he sees the dismembered corpses all around him. He drops to the knees but instantly gets up as he discovers that he had fallen on a body whoose head was disattached and casted away.
With disbelief he looked around as if he had woken up from a deep slumber. His eyes landed on his hands, they were shaking so bad, then he had started talking to himself, reassuring that everything is okay, and this is just a bad dream.
Whispering pathetically under his breath, he wandered away from the field of blood and corpses mangled into weird vines of plants, they looked like trees, but they weren't quite it... He had tried to put off his mind from the blood and the fact he's from head to toe covered in it. He also tried not to vomit.
It was so awful...
His chest felt heavy as his breaths grew into pants. The sound of tearing flesh and screams ran across his mind setting it into disarray.
But that history has a good ending, while Obito went on a bloody rampage, Minato took Rin and Kakashi to safety and then came back to look for Obito. He found the Uchiha boy vomitting - seems like he gave up to the sick feeling of guilt eating at his stomach and disgust at the sight of blood - helped him up and took him home.
It's been already ten years, and Obito can't believe it.
Throughout those ten years he hadn't lost anybody - that doesn't mean he wasn't close, but everybody he cared for were still alive and doing good. Obito looked at his little cute students and smiled to himself proudly. Kakashi might have his bratty little nephew - Sasuke, smart, cunning and with a photographic memory - Sakura, plus Naruto Uzumaki - Kushina's and Minato's son - as his students, but Obito has his own bunch (and they're not related to him in any way like his previous students) of brats and currently watched them rest from the training.
Obito closed his eyes and let his mind wander off, he hadn’t expect to fall asleep.
When he wakes up he’s screaming and there’s liquid coming from his nose, his whole body is shivering and sweating. The students trio - Sho, Setsuko and Michiko - jump away from him, seems like they tried to wake him up... Instantly he brought a hand up to his nose and discovered blood. Uchiha Jonin freezed up realizing the smiling faces spitting blood, cutting their stomaches open and showing him their heart... he shakes his head and dismisses the brats, who watch him worriedly. Using Kamui to get home is easy, but stopping himself from imagining the people he loves dead at his hand is hard.
The look of betrayal on their faces felt so real... just as if he had followed the Madara’s wishes and fulfilled the wicked plan and on the way he led to Rin’s death, broke Kakashi, killed Minato and Kushina - orphaned Naruto, the ball of sunshine who’s too cute for his sake.

How would Team 7 (Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura) react to the ships KaiKashi and ItaKai? How would Minato and Kushina react? And Team Recon?
Ooo…this is a fun one! Strap in, ‘cause it’s also a long answer. Gonna break it down by ships:
ItaKai
Important to note: In the story (old version, at least), Team 7 and Team Recon do eventually learn the truth about Itachi.
Team 7
When ItaKai first became a thing (pre-massacre), Naruto was COMPLETELY oblivious. He met Itachi twice during this time, but in classic Naruto fashion, never remembered it. Later on, after learning the truth about the massacre and getting to know the “real” Itachi a bit, he’s just happy that his sister got to be right about him - right to always have those nagging doubts about the massacre, right to never completely give up on him. In a way, it gives him hope that he’s also right about Sasuke.
Sakura has similar feelings to Naruto about it - seeing Itachi and Kaiya able to reconnect gives her hope for Sasuke.
Sasuke…here’s a complicated one. When they were younger, he was a bit mixed. On the one hand, his brother was spending time with this girl instead of with him. On the other, he (Sasuke) actually kind of liked that girl. He also liked how his brother was around her - lighter, happier in a way that he only ever saw with himself or Shisui. Post-massacre, their relationship doesn’t play into Sasuke’s feelings about his brother much; the whole “he killed my entire clan” thing does tend to eclipse a young romance gone wrong. As for later on, when the truth comes out…in my headcanon, he’s again, mixed. Part of him is glad that his brother got some happiness in the end, no matter how short-lived, and he’s even grateful to Kaiya (and maybe a bit envious) for being able to give that to him.
Team Recon
Not thrilled about it. At all. Before the massacre, they were…hesitantly supportive? They were all young, but Hikaru and Gorou definitely felt a sudden burst of brotherly protectiveness over Kaiya when they realized she was developing something with the Uchiha heir. They were worried he was taking advantage of her, that he’d just use her then toss her aside in favor of doing whatever his clan dictated…and they didn’t want to see their “little sister” heartbroken. Of course, that’s…more or less what wound up happening, in an extreme way. Itachi committed the massacre of his clan, becoming a notorious criminal who allegedly had been a psychopath the whole time.
Later on, when they’re together again, Hikaru and Gorou are, again, VERY not thrilled about it. By now they know the truth of the massacre, but even so, neither of them can see anything good coming out of those two being together - except that they trust their teammate and see that while the situation makes her unbearably sad, she’s also, in a way, happy. So they keep their mouths shut, try to accept it for what it is, but plan to be there as soon as things go south to pull her out and/or be her support.
BONUS AU HEADCANON: Again, they’d be hesitantly supportive at first, always with an eye out in case this clan heir was up to no good. But they see over and over again that this is not the case, that Itachi genuinely cares for Kaiya. Plus, in this AU, Itachi and Kaiya have known each other WAY longer than Team Recon has been around. So actually, they might not be as hesitant. Heck, Gorou might even be playing matchmaker in the beginning! Yuuma would be in the background with Shisui, both of them with knowing smiles that say “yeah, we knew all along this would happen.”
Minato & Kushina
This is mostly based on an AU scenario where everyone is alive, there was no massacre, etc. Kushina is totally into this. Seriously. She and Mikoto have been plotting this since Itachi and Kaiya were born (well, mostly Kushina doing the plotting!). When Itachi and Kaiya get married, Kushina is unrestrainedly cheering during the ceremony. Minato…he’s quite okay with it. Itachi is a polite, kind individual, highly skilled and intelligent. He has a good head on his shoulders, a good heart in his chest, and he obviously adores and cherishes Minato’s little girl. Minato may have been a little more protective when they first started dating as teens, maybe even using his Hokage status to…silently remind Itachi not to mess with his daughter, but I can also see him basically grooming Itachi over the years to possibly become the next Hokage.
In the “real world” of the story…I think Minato and Kushina would be heartbroken at what’s become of Itachi, and what that means for an ItaKai relationship. Minato would blame himself for, well, dying so early on - if he’d survived, if he’d been a little faster, a little stronger, defeated the masked man and subdued the Kyuubi without getting shanked…maybe the massacre wouldn’t have happened. Maybe his daughter wouldn’t have been an amnesiac orphan. Heck, maybe even his son wouldn’t have had to carry a demon. Maybe his wife would’ve survived. And maybe, just maybe, Itachi could have had a more normal life where his potential was allowed to blossom in a more peaceful environment.
KaiKashi
Team 7
Naruto and Sakura are all for it. These two are like the parent figures of Team 7, so them getting together is just…right.
Sasuke is a little more…hesitant? On the one hand, pre-Shippuden, he was just too caught up in his own world to care - or at least, that’s what he told himself. I think he might actually be a little resentful of Kaiya for moving on in any way when he refuses to. Part of him recognizes that this isn’t a fair judgment - as he often reminds himself, she didn’t lose her whole clan that night, it’s not her responsibility to do anything about it - but he’s young. He doesn’t have the maturity yet to separate his experiences from those of others. Another part of him, though, agrees with Naruto and Sakura - the two just work together.
Team Recon
Total KaiKashi shippers here. They’re happy to see Kaiya moving on (however slowly and hesitantly) and they think Kakashi is good for her. They couldn’t be more into this if they were following them around quietly singing “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid in the background.
Minato & Kushina
Hmm…no AU scenario for this one, so just TUTN-verse: Minato is actually pretty into this. Of course, there’s a little time-shock for him here, because when he was alive and last saw these two, his precious baby girl was just short of five years old and his protege was already an Anbu operative and a teenager…so yeah, there’s a little cognitive dissonance in suddenly seeing them both as adults AND romantically involved. But he’s happy that they’ve found happiness and comfort in each other, and can almost see a bit of a mirror of him and Kushina in them.
Kushina is also pretty happy about it, though she’d probably want to give Kakashi a stern talking-to about how to treat a lady, including NOT reading porn by a certain Pervy Sage around her daughter!

Ayesha Liveblogs Naruto Shippuden S20 (Pt. 3)
I wonder if going after Karin’s Tsukuyomi bulb was happenstance or whether Tobirama went “I smell an Uzumaki” and had at it
“Just be quiet for a bit” How dare you speak to your father this way Sasuke, Kakashi does nothing but love you
“EVERYONE WILL OWN A DOG. GO GET A DOG, HOKAGE’S DECREE!“ you’ve got my vote, Kiba
Mirai as a baby is an absolute unit and I love it
Shikamaru, getting down on one knee in front of Temari: Will you not marry me?
You know what. All these dreams are extremely realistic. I buy it. A teenage boy would totally dream about kicking his friends’ asses for fun even if he had the opportunity to do anything in the world. 10/10 believability
Sai dreams about being told he has a nice smile and being twirled around by Naruto my boooooy 😭😭😭😭😭😭
“[My Sasori transformer] will be the guardian deity of the Sand” Kankuro pls
Omg Temari’s dream is so cute she wants her little brothers to need her
God the fact Gaara’s dream is about having a happy childhood PICK UP THE PHONE RASA I JUST NEED TO TALK
“Madara, don’t you dare talk about the Uchiha. The only one who has that right, is my big brother.” But he did... murder them, Sasuke. That is a thing that happened. My dear. My dude. He done did it.
Having read Itachi Shinden none of this should be shocking but FUGAKU REALLY YOUR SON IS FOUR WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS
“Listen Itachi, never forget this sight” well he sure won’t now that you’ve given him CHILD PTSD FUGAKU
“We finally have peace, and we must do our best to maintain it” Hmmm.... must you, Fugaku? Is that a thing you must do?
“What is life, anyway?” Damn my existential dread didn’t kick in at least until I was in school, Itachi
Sasuke was such a weird-looking newborn I love him
I wonder how the English dub will deal with the mild implications of inc/est between Itachi and Izumi
Please Mikoto your son is like 6 why are you having him babysit
God I am so used to every version of Itachi having the voice of a grownass man that hearing a child-like voice even when he is 6 is almost off-putting lmao
Full offence Obito but why do you have to be such a little bitch
“Oh good, I knew that you’d be alright” HE’S 6 FUGAKU
Why is Naruto just sitting in a basket on top of his father’s grave??? Who let you do this? Hiruzen what is wrong with you??
“I’m glad that you didn’t die” an accurate representation of Itachi’s social skills at all ages
DFhsdjfhkdsjhfk I love that Itachi has accidentally become these kids’ leader
AHHHHH I guess that’s Hana next to Itachi I wanna see the cat ninja and dog ninja fight
“If the fighting can be stopped, I’d like to stop it” Shisui <3
Itachi’s sweet tooth is so goddamn cute ahhhh what a little nerd
Hhgfkhjfhl SASUKE’S PAW ENCYCLOPEDIA THE PREQUEL THIS IS WHAT I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED
“I mean, [ladies] are clueless” “How dare you insult my woman” Turns out the alcohol this cat was drinking was Respect Women Juice
God I love Minazuki-sensei he’s such a mess
“No they blew away in the wind” guess Itachi hasn’t picked up his snitching tendencies yet lmao
Baby Sasuke has acquired a younger voice too I guess. It is real late in the game to be establishing these lmao
Obito. I’m. Stop???? Please. Is this how Kakashi felt during the war
God I love Shisui the tiny ninja detective they really have left off some of the cooler aspects of being a shinobi in all the wild and flashy jutsu like during the Land of Waves arc when Kakashi kept noticing relatively mundane clues
“Shisui picked up on how I felt right from the beginning” welcome to empathy Itachi
“I’ll hand this intel over to Lord Hokage, and he will deliver a just and fair judgment” I like this ANBU vs. ROOT dichotomy but bold of you to assume Hiruzen won’t ultimately let Danzo do whatever he wants lol
Damn what the shit how does Shisui know who the foundation already isn’t he like 12
The animation of this arc is nice but also so weird they really did make Itachi and Shisui’s eyes like half of their face
These wholeass adults getting between by two prepubescents lmao
“A teleportation jutsu has no mass” wait WHAT I have so many questions Shisui what does that MEAN
“I want to you to think of me as your older brother” HELL YEAH HE DOES
Ffgdfkghkjh what an abrupt voice change between age 8 and 11 Itachi
How many times have they animated these same goddamn Itachi scenes
Holy shit it’s like they tried to tell the story of the Itachi Shinden novels and then got bored halfway through gfkhgfkhgkjh
“I’m exhaAAAUsted from my mission” Itachi pls why say it like that
“You have the Mangekyo as well?” Fugaku had a friend???? Unrealistic. Blocked
THEY KIDNAPPED NARUTO??? I DON’T REMEMBER THIS IN ITACHI SHINDEN
Genjutsu but I don’t remember that either ?!?!?! Doesn’t Fugaku spend all of Itachi Shinden being emotionally distant and sending Itachi mixed moral messages
Who is the Fugaku hater on this storyboard staff lmao I’m crying
I have a lot of thoughts about this art direction honestly why is everything in the shadows why are the character models so weird why is Itachi suddenly outside in the lightning for his murder discussion meeting instead of inside the council room if you had to shout over lightning people could hear you
“I challenge you to the high jump” “You’re no match for me” Sasuke you’re the most obnoxious seven-year-old in the world I love it
“There’s something that I’d like you to help me with” a very casual opener when you’re proposing the murder of your entire clan but okay
They really leaned into the horror movie aesthetic huh fair enough
I have some objections to register about Izumi’s death like both options are weird but at least in Itachi Shinden she wasn’t humiliated by Obito begging for Itachi to save her she had a degree of awareness and it was an impactful if strange scene
FUCK THE TOBI VOICE I KNEW IT WAS COMING BUT I’M WHEEZING
Cute new ED but also the idea of Tobirama giving anyone a fistbump amuses me immensely
“Who would’ve thought that that scuzzy bearded jerk would’ve been able to use a taijutsu like that” RUDE but also ‘scuzzy’ jhfjghkjhfgj
Omg that’s so funny they literally gave the former owner of Zabuza’s blade the same voice
This doesn’t make any fucking sense how could Juzo have the executioner’s blade when Zabuza would be like 21 when Itachi was 13 oh my god
“The Hidden Mist doesn’t keep any prisoners” unsurprising but interesting
Is this meant to imply that Juzo is killed and then Zabuza immediately finds the sword and starts a coup because that’s hilarious
Wait how does them fighting the Mizukage make any sense isn’t Yagura under Obito’s control lmao who wrote this
Did Itachi just.... accidentally cripple the Mizukage omg [Zabuza screams in the distance]
Hahahaha I know it’s supposed to be evil but it’s really funny that Kakuzu killed his partner for being too slow
“I wouldn’t know how to cater to your moods” kjfhgkdhfgjh Kakuzu just got wrecked by a thirteen-year-old LMAO
“I’m not sure what to do with you... whether to kill you right now or find a way to use you” KILL OROCHIMARU, ITACHI, IT’S GONNA SAVE YOU A LOT OF TROUBLE
Why the hell would Kabuto be hanging out near the Akatsuki anyway isn’t he in a long term infiltration of the Leaf Village lmao or can Orochimaru summon him like a snake
On what basis does Pain decide these partnerships did Kisame and Sasori take a babysitting course or smth
The cutaway without the “This... is art” scene is almost funnier because it implies Itachi just had to flash his eyes at Deidara and Deidara was like, “HELLO AKATSUKI I AM HERE”
“I wouldn’t mind giving you a taste of my art” [insert ninja sex joke about Deidara’s mouth hands here]
Deidara really should not be old enough to be here by this point in the narrative but this entire arc has been wacky timeline wise
Man it must be fucked up to fight a puppet version of your own corpse
“What I really wanted... was to get a hold of Itachi’s body” you are the definition of stranger danger Orochimaru
From what I remember the video games had Kakuzu and Orochimaru approaching Hidan and not Konan and Itachi but I’m game for any Orochimaru erasure lmao
I’m pretty sure all of that blood was Hidan’s?? World-building whomst
“He licked Kakuzu’s blood” did he though?? Show me his wound Itachi
OMG they’re really heavy-handed with Leaf!Itachi as if we did not just watch a bunch of episodes of Itachi caring about his village like honestly look at this:
Kisame: So even you have feelings for your birthplace, is that it?
Itachi: No. Not at all. [Sasuke, I hope that you’re safe.]
(Me too Itachi 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭)
“It’s been a long time... Saaasuke” could you say his name a little less weirdly please Itachi
You really can’t get mad at Kakashi for teaching Sasuke chidori Itachi like maybe if you would murder less people Kakashi would feel a little less overprotective
God was the only point of animating and voicing these scenes again so that Itachi could mentally apologize every twelve seconds? You know what fair enough, anxiety and depression be like that sometimes
“You still have people who’ll protect you” Oh plot twist Itachi was actually writing a “Nice” list instead of a “Naughty” list and Kakashi, Jiraiya and Naruto are all on it
Oh yeah I kind of forgot that this was all supposed to be like a 5 minute span for Sasuke’s flashback of Itachi’s entire life lmao
You know.... it’s real unclear to me how Obito wakes up from his trance lmao he may not be in a cocoon but he’s certainly exposed to the light
“Be careful. We’re surrounded on all sides by four of his shadows” “Yeah I know that” Yeah, Naruto knows it, but Sasuke’s warning where the Shadow Madaras are entirely for Kakashi and Sakura’s benefit BC HE WORRIES MY BABY BOYYYY
“This chakra is even way stronger than Ten-Tails” I really heard “Tenten” there and I was like, wait what did I miss with Tenten kfhkjhgkjhg
OH GOOD ANOTHER UCHIHA FLESH MOUNTAIN JUST WHAT WE NEEDED
“They’re turned into White Zetsu” I hate this nonsensical bit of world-building it made more sense and felt less weird when they were Hashirama clones like what the fuck
Oh I can’t believe this is making me feel almost bad for Madara did Zetsu really edit the Uchiha Stone Tablet’s Tsukuyomi section to say “Peace Plans” ain’t that how like the CIA entraps people
“Hashirama... where did I go wrong” We’d need a lot more time than you have to unpack that Madara
“Countless nights passed” I mean. Was it countless nights. Because I think it was. A couple hours. This war arc spans like two days. I have spent more human hours on this arc than they’ve spent ninja hours in this war
“I can’t believe such a person existed” neither can I Sasuke it’s almost like she was invented specifically for this arc
For real Obito no offence but like why aren’t you dead it just doesn’t make much sense khkjfdhkjhgkjh
Hmmm not 2 be that gal but Kaguya’s voice is v pleasant on the ears
“Sorry to be so rough with you, Obito” Kakashi. You loving, kind, dumb bitch. He stabbed you THREE TIMES in the past two days you really owe him like -1000 apologies
“This is also one of those times where your body just moves on its own” SASUKE CALLED OUT FOR LOVING HIS COMRADES
“I’ve got to get to Naruto” I love your dedication Minato but I feel as though the loss of both of your arms makes helping more difficult
Kakashi is not NEARLY as surprised about this levitation thing as he should be. I think as this point he’s just like. ‘This might as well happen’
All other things aside Kaguya’s really fun to look at damn
Okay okay okay not to look for too much logic in this ninja show but don’t both Naruto and Sasuke have Six Paths chakra why can only Naruto float is a metaphor for Sasuke’s fall from grace
“I am Kaguya’s child” I can only imagine a Game of Thrones-eque shadow flying out the hooha situation
“Just before the seal took hold, she gave birth to me, in order that she could be restored” I can only assume Kaguya fucked Bitterness and Regret and you know.... fair enough
I gotta tell you Zetsu being the primary narrator of this arc is jarring
Tenji seems kinda nice it’s a shame something terrible will probably happen to him
Say what you will about SP’s animation inconsistencies they can animate some beautiful-ass skies
“Is there anything that you desire” Get u a man like Tenji
Fellas is it gay to sit under the stars with your handmaiden who adores you in comfortable silence
“Even now you’re not scared. That just makes me like you more” take a shot every time a man is Like That (bah dum tss)
“Do Not Touch Me,” wow Kaguya mood
I will clarify I said that BEFORE she exploded the men gkhkjfhgkhh
Tenji, that Aino lady is your subordinate are you really gonna leave her with the creepy That man u are not the man I thought you were
“Just tell him, and I’m sure that Lord Tenji will forgive you” to be fair Aino you could’ve elaborated u were just like ‘yup she killed them’ and left it at that
WOW I RESCIND ALL COMPLIMENTS TO TENJI CALM DOWN DUDE
When life gives u lemons use people as fertilizer for ur infinite lemon tree I guess
Are you telling me 1) Gamamaru has existed since the DAWN OF CHAKRA and 2) He knew all about this Tsukuyomi shit just like. Kept it on the DL. WHAT KINDA WORLD-BUILDING
Okay but for real did the Otsutsuki clan stem like.... all the clans, because there’s the Kaguya clan (through Hamura I guess?), and the Hyuga clan definitely through Hamura, and then the Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki through Hagoromo like just how many people did your kids sleep with and for that matter how long ago was this
“A real talking toad! Think people would like it if we caught it and took it home?” Why are Hagoromo and Hamura the cutest things in the world this is the sibling content we deserve
“You’re just a snake oil salesman, and not a very good one” oh I think I love Hamura oh no I would love a character who gets stuck on the moon
Take a shot every time a woman exists to die and make a man sad
“She fell in love with the ruler of this land and in time she became pregnant with the two of you” notice that at no point does Gamamaru say they got married can u believe Kaguya invented premarital sex
You know none of this goes against mine and Sloane’s Kagumo theory
“How can you see so far into a toad’s heart that clearly” Gamamaru and Hagoromo’s interactions are killing me
How much time has passed for Hamura’s hair to grow that long
Hamura @ Kaguya: BROTHERS BEFORE MOTHERS
HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED FOR HAGOROMO TO DEVELOP THIS BROW RIDGE SAGE LAND TAKES A TOLL
Tenji doesn’t even appear in this flashback about love and betrayal it’s just Kaguya being bitter bc her gal Aino died they were in lesbians together
Every so often I’m reminded that Kishimoto has a twin brother and I wonder what he thinks about making the twins fight
“You enabled me to awaken the mangekyo sharingan and rinnegan” how do u even have words for those things. Didn’t they just happen right this moment
Wow this is all very Little Shop of Horrors, Momma feeds the tree with people juice and in turn it wants to protect her from harm
“I split the Ten Tails into nine souls” SOULS? HAGOROMO CAN... JUST MAKE SOULS. COULD HE POINT AT GAMAMARU AND SAY “YOU ARE TWO FROGS NOW” AND THAT’D JUST BE TRUE?
“We won’t be that far apart,” said Hagoromo, just as his brother was about to teleport to the moon
Side note: Maybe ur crops were failing bc without the moon the tides are all out of whack and you know, the moon was apparently just invented right now
“Time passed, and so did Hagoromo” I love this particular literary device
“Time after time I’d approach the reincarnates of Indra and Ashura” okay so we’re supposed to be down for not only regular reincarnation in Naruto but Indra and Ashura ONLY BEING BORN TO THE SENJU AND UCHIHA CLANS REPEATEDLY WHAT WHO WROTE THIS
Does this mean that people Naruto and Sasuke every 50 years????You’d think the Land of Fire would just. Get used to it
“Just with that alone, a thousands years passed” well at least we have some idea of how much time it’s been since Kaguya era lmao
Ur telling me that this horseshit happened bc Tobirama doesn’t know to leave dead bodies well enough alone
SHHHHH I PREFER THE ZETSU BEING WEIRD HASHIRAMA CLONES
This montage of Zetsu taking credit for everything Madara and Obito did is not appreciated lmao take some responsibility for your actions!!!!
I’m gonna keep harping on this for the rest of the war honestly like where is the ACCOUNTABILITY
“So your teen rebellion continues” LMAO UR NOT WRONG
“I know that this could be our last hurrah, but we gotta give it our best shot” not much of a plan Naruto sweetheart but fair
Tag urself I’m Kakashi’s look of despair at his hormonal students
“And Sasuke? Sorry that my sexy jutsu didn’t work” I was not prepared for the sincerity with which that line was delivered
The Sad Old Man™ energy radiating off Obito is... Immense
“We’re all ready to die” R U THINKING OF RIN BC SHE WAS READY TO DIE OR BC UR READY TO SEE HER EITHER WAY IT’S SAD KAKASHI
“I want to thank you for helping me out. And for helping Sasuke” “No, there’s no need to thank me” this is the first time Obito has been right about something since the age of 13
“I’m not going to waste time on speeches,” said Obito, in the middle of a dramatic speech
Minato..... how did you chop the branch.... with no hands to pick up a kunai???????? What kind of yoga contortion was involved
What I imagine the subtext of this scene to be:
Hagoromo: New old son!!!! I am dad now
Hashirama, whose dad was Butsuma: [choking back tears] Okay
Tobirama: I also hate our father
They’re all taking to this “demi-god pops out of the bottom half of dead ex-comrade” thing pretty well but to be fair they’ve had a complicated day
