Favorite pink figure skating costumes?
Tumblr media
I feel like it’s a difficult color for me to like, because for some reason a lot of the pink costumes have design or silhouettes that read very junior to me, but I liked all of these.

2022 4 Continents entry #13
Women free program
Eugenia Garza(MEX)
Thoughts: she had multiple greens going on. The only shade of green I liked was on her sleeve.
Sofia Frank(PHI)
Thoughts: she has these big expressive eyes. Perfect for storytelling.
Veronik Mallet(CAN)
Thoughts: her smile helped the dress to grow on me
Yuhana Yokoi(JPN)
Thoughts: it is very difficult to make this dress not look too busy. But she succeeded.
Alison Schumacher(CAN)
Thoughts: she is a beauty. Did you see that spiral?!
Kailani Craine(AUS)
Thoughts: usually this neckline with the lines around the chest is a good way to get on my bad side. But I liked this outfit.

One of the small tragedies watching the Olympics is the hyper awareness of the passage of time. Tough on the viewer but always makes me sad for the athletes. Like, the majority of athletes I connected to last time are gone. Obviously some are back but many are gone. Almost no one from 2014 is left still competing. Time makes everyone it's bitch eventually and it's hard not to imagine how rough it might be on 26 year olds sitting at home because they are retired. I think it would be hard to give up my passion before 26. But even rougher are the ones who aren't retired but aren't here this time because injury and time have worn down their competitive edge and they aren't what they were in 2018. At least if you've retired you've taken the first step to moving on. All that brings us to Kailani Craine, who did make it back this time. I posted her in 2018 cause she was attractive then and she's attractive now and time couldn't take her down because I work off the assumption she is tough as hell. There aren't a lot of Australian figure skaters out there because it's not a winter sport kind of place. As far as I know there is no ice anywhere in Australia. I haven't looked into it but I have watched a lot of Ozploitation movies from the 80's and I feel like it would have come up if there was ice. Hell, there is barely any water, half the country is on first half the time. They have killer Emus, which people talk about a lot as if that was surprising that their birds have armed forces but it's not surprising at all if you know anything about Australia because everything there is trying to kill everyone. I have gone into this before but sadly that post is lost to time but let me head this off at the pass, yes, even the Kangaroos are trying to kill you. Nothing has feet that big without ill intent. It's like Aristotle once said, never trust anything that hops anywhere, it's not natural. Anyway, so that brings us back to Kailani Craine. Of course she is here. She survived a country that, if that Tina Turner Documentary taught me anything, has a thunderdome. Time isn't going to take her down. Not this early at least. Today I want to fuck Kailani Craine.

Nice Triple Flip. Solid Triple-Double combo, but a bit small. Decent spin. Nice Double Axel. Nice spin. Nice step sequence. Nice ending spin.
The music ends a bit abruptly for me.
That was a good program from Kailani Craine - not perfect, but well done.
56.64 and into sixth place

2022 4 Continents entry #10
Women short program
Tzu Ting(TPE)
Thoughts: she tried to pull it together for the second half. Poor thing just needs a little polish is all.
Audrey Shin(USA)
Thoughts: did she succeed in reviving a long dead song. Almost. But she is a beauty. Rino Matsuike(JPN)
Thoughts: how quickly I fell in love with her. Butterfly soft. And the long flowing hair. She is just divine.
Gabriella Izzo(USA)
Thoughts: this dress is gorgeous but there was too much acting in this program.
Kailani Craine(AUS)
Thoughts: the dress kept trying to win me over. But it didn’t work.
Yuhana Yokoi(JPN)
Thoughts: I like the back of her dress more than the front
Mai Mihara(JPN)
Thoughts: not my favorite dress of the day. But again. Those butterfly soft lines. She's beautiful.

“If the people who shout most about underscoring shouted just as loud and long about it when it happens to Ivett Toth, or Larry Loupoulover, or Kailani Craine or Lukas Britschgi or any other skater whose opportunities and funding genuinely depend on their being scored fairly, then I’d believe they really cared about the issue and not just about their podium faves. But they never do.“
