Kyushu North to South 14-day itinerary
This itinerary takes you from north to south through Japan’s southern most main island, Kyushu in 14 days. All the way from the bustling metropolis of Fukuoka in the north, over the historic and picturesque pottery village of Arita, the culturally diverse Nagasaki, steaming onsen baths on valcanoes, and to Kagoshima’s active volcano Sakurajima and Ibusuki’s famous sand baths in the south. Second:Fireflies in Kagoshima.
Third:The equaly elegant Nagasaki. This rubs me:Cause this place can’t be a place being hit by a nuke.*The usual books of so called history are so off. They can’t properly explaine the japanese wonder.

My globetrotting days are peppered with visits to places where volcanoes still are active,Sakurajima in Kagoshima prefecture was one of the many that I had the pleasure of visiting. Where you can actually buy lava rocks in a bag as souvenirs from the slopes of the volcano, hahaha. Talk about making money from an active volcano ,when you could just pick a few on the way out of the area. Well, visiting was a great experience. I do recommend this place if you come to japan.Words by SergioGuyman Proust.

Tumblr media
Pag 1
1: The Inter High starting line is impartial
2: Those aiming for victory
3: Those filled to the brim
4: Those who are scared
5: Everyone who put on their number bib
6: The line calls everyone to a new path
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pag 2 / 3
1: No2, Onoda Sakamichi's last Inter High!!
Tumblr media
Pag 4
1: “Kyushu” was once divided into nine countries, and that's why it has that name*
(NdT.: The “kyuu” in Kyushu means nine)
(Currently is divided in seven prefectures: Fukuoka, Ooita, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Kagoshima)
2: It has a lot of active volcanoes, and people coexist with the harshness of nature while enjoying hot springs, geothermy, and tourism
3: Trade with the continent has been active since ancient times
4: Formerly, the distribution of goods by ships, which was the mainstream
5: Passed through the Kanmon Straits, separating Honshu and Kyushu
6: And transported to Osaka, Edo, the Japanese cities by the sea, and every corner of the country
Tumblr media
Pag 5
1: Even today, the Kanmon Straits, which passes through Shimonoseki, and Kitakyushu City, and Moji, is the shortest route that connects the Inland Sea and the Sea of Japan, and is a key point for the shipping through sea
2: 1000 ships a day pass through the complex strait, which is 500m wide in its narrowest point
3: As for the land route
4: An highway crosses the Kanmon Strait with a huge bridge 1068m long
5: Ordinary national roads and railroads pass through specialized tunnels
6: As for bicycles and people... they use the “pedestrian bridge tunnel” at the bottom of the huge bridge
From Honshu to Kyushu, they can cross over the Kanmon Strait by walking
Tumblr media
Pag 6
4: Waaa
We're at the bottom of the sea here?
That's right
5: So above us is the sea?
Yeah
And we can walk to Kyushu?
That's right, it's around 400m from here
Amazing....
6: There's even people with bikes
Yeah
7: Look! There's a line!
It's the prefectural border
8: One, two-
9: Yes! I landed in Kyushu!
Tumblr media
Pag 7
1: The entrance to Kyushu is in the northernmost town, Moji, in the prefecture of Fukuoka, Kitakyushu City
Tumblr media
Pag 8

Tumblr media
Pag 9

Put it in the tent for now
Thank you, senpai

So pretty
Tumblr media
Pag 10

Yes
Tumblr media
Pag 11
1: Ohhhh

Tumblr media
Pag 12

Ho- how do I stop it, teh, Ki....
4: Kinaka-kun!!
6: Ki.....
7: “The competition is in Kyushu, so there's no way we can bring everyone along”
8: Kinaka.... kun
Tumblr media
Pag 13
1: I'm here!!
Ah, you're here....
2: I'll be a mechanical help for the next three days
And I was entrusted to be your lucky charm
De-he.... oho, ohoho, fuhoho!! What's that enigmatic way of laughing!!
3: Don't act like I didn't come!!
No... I just wanted to reaffirm again how grateful I am that you came, Kinaka-kun...
Ah!? That doesn't make any sense
4: It does!!
Tumblr media
Pag 14
1: Because I really am grateful to you, Kinaka-kun!!
3: And I think this jersey is for the both of us!!

Sohoku is in Kyushu!!
3: What a terrific aura!

Tumblr media
Pag 17

Tumblr media
Pag 18
1: ….. please
2: Is he..... nervous....!? The reigning champion, Sohoku!?
Did he have a nervous aura?
Maybe the two guys behind him.... were supporting him?
3: They were supporting him, but the jersey came off
5: They're going back to their tent....
So that's Sohoku... right
7: So-so- sorry, I got nervous!!

This Inter High is our last race!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pag 23
1: Honestly speaking, I my heart too was pounding when we were on the ship coming here
I was really nervous
2: Naruko-kun....
3: Naruko
4: But then I thought
When we were first years and ran in the Kanagawa competition..... maybe, at the starting point in Enoshima
5: The old man, Kinjou-san, and Makishima-san, too, were as nervous as we are now
Tumblr media
Pag 24
1: They must have been
3: But they didn't show it at all to us kouhai
4: Well, we can't afford to show it, either
5: That's why, Manager, we talked and decided to go back to our beginning!!

Hotshot will take the number Kinjou-san wore, number 1!!
Tumblr media
Pag 26
3: And Onoda-kun....
I....
7: The number Makishima-san carried
Tumblr media
Pag 27
1: I'll run wearing the number 3!!

Kokontozai: KASHIYUKA’s Shop of Japanese Arts and Crafts — Dorozome
Searching all of Japan for handcrafted items that express its heart and soul, our proprietor, KASHIYUKA, presents things that bring a bit of luxury to everyday life. This time our trip took us to Amami Ōshima in Kagoshima prefecture, where we delved into a technique characteristic of the island called dorozome, mud-dyeing. It’s used to color the fabric that will be used for the local traditional kimono, called Ōshima tsumugi.

Kamui Woods' tragic backstory that was made into a documentary
I've got side character brainrot, so watch me make it everyone else's problem. Help me come up with some more ideas, or let me know your favorite theory!
Tumblr media
THEORY #1:
He is a tree who gained a Quirk and sentience
(Kind of like what happened with Principal Nezu)
Personally am not a fan of this theory because I feel like his name and ambitions would be a little different or people would mention it more as jokes/jabs/or from flat-out astonishment.
But I'm not ruling it out.
Tumblr media
THEORY #2:
His home faced the tragedy, he just lived through it.
He is from Kagoshima Prefecture, so using the vague location as a clue:
He could be from Yakushima:
(AKA, the island inspiring the forest in Princess Mononoke - could tie into his name translation "God of the Woods")
Has a vast forest with some of the oldest trees around
See: Yaku-sugi (Jōmon-sugi).
Has a lot of hot springs (not relevant, just happy for him)
Native with rhododendron
(See costume: if flowers are supposed to be rhododendron and not roses).
Tumblr media
He could be from the Mangrove Primeval Forest on Amami Island:
Amami has the Kanoya Rose Gardens
(See costume: belt attachment is made of roses)
2nd largest forest of mangroves in Japan
(Lot of trees, water, and kayaking)
Tumblr media
* Both areas are near active volcanoes and subject to typhoons:
Is tragedy related to typhoons, floods, volcanoes, or another type of natural disaster?
See driftwood compatibility: If ships/ water are involved, his wood Quirk could've allowed him to float to safety for several days, being enough hope in the face of tragedy to spark the documentary.
Tumblr media
THEORY 4:
Pirates/ boat-related tragedy, also includes being marooned, held hostage, and gives him a newfound sense of justice against villains.
Buuut I feel like he would have maybe joined a mariner-related field if his hero origins involved pirates.
Tumblr media
THEORY #5:
Wood was harvested for harsh winters without consent like a sort of body-farm situation that was eventually liberated.
Like if he had bad parents or his whole family was a part of some sort of servitude angle?
He only started counting his birthday/ age recently, so there are a number of reasons why he never celebrated it?
(A little too dark for me, and may be a little influenced by the DNA chambers Yamato Tenzo grew up with in Naruto.)
Tumblr media
THEORY #6:
Abandoned in the woods and grew up as a little feral nature child.
Also plays into the "just started counting my age" angle.
EDIT: from the prototype sketch rough translations, this kind of sounds like what happened, though I don't know if the tragedy ends there or with his adopted family.
Tumblr media
THEORY #7:
Related to his appearance.
Shinji is very secretive of his appearance, mainly his mouth area that is constantly hidden by a mask or scarf. It's possible, he just likes his privacy, buuuut... theories anyway:
He could be made of wood all over, have branch/limb-like teeth that are unsettling to others, a nutcracker jaw, Ghibli Forest Spirit face, or have a nod to a skin condition like Epidermodysplasia that he was ridiculed for as a kid, so now keeps his face hidden?
Tumblr media
That's all the theories I think I've got. Feel free to share more if you have ideas too!

Where did you find the full tl for Ibuki? Not doubting you (HappyEle is notorious for mishandling minorities), but I've only been able to find bits and pieces for the new characters
The tl I read for Ibuki wasn't his idol story (I don't think that's been fully tled yet), it was his profile, sorry for the confusion! I should have worded that better 🙏
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MireiArchive had this rough tl for his profile, which matches up with the machine tl of "Born in Okinawa, and raised in America" (though you should always take machine tls with several handfuls of salt, I believe this one is accurate, as it matches up with the info provided by other translators).
They also provided a rough overview of his idol story, during which the incidents that are being talked about take place.
Tumblr media
We know this part of the rough overview of the story is accurate due to being confirmed by several sources (the jp and eng fandoms are talking about it quite a bit).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These parts specifically are the ones where he claims to experience discrimination due to being Okinawan or American (any foreigners face potential discrimination due to a homogeneous society). The first two kanji after the question mark in the first screenshot is the word for "Okinawa" (I'd screen record this part, but unfortunately my phone's audio quality is abysmal 🙃).
Getting a bit into Okinawa's history, the Ryukyuan people are native to the Ryukyu Islands (part of which make up modern-day Okinawa), and they were annexed by the Empire of Japan during the Meiji Era. As Japan did with other ethnic groups, such as the Ainu, the vast majority of the Ryukyuan people were stripped of their culture and forced to assimilate. During WWII, after America invaded Okinawa, the US occupied them for several decades, and there are still US military bases there that are a topic of strong debate, due to their environmental, cultural, and political impacts. Ibuki's family likely has ties to America due to these past events (many Ryukyuans have immigrated to Hawaii in particular, due to it being a straight shot across the Pacific, something which started in the early 1900s).
After WWII, Ryukyuans supported Japan more strongly due to increased resentment towards Americans, causing a further decline of people who spoke Ryukyuan languages (the vast majority speak standard Japanese, like Ibuki) and other aspects of their culture. Ryukyuans are now mostly split between the Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures. "Okinawan" as a term has become one meant specifically to refer to the Ryukyuans (Wikipedia and other places have great sources for further info on these topics), which Ibuki is.
Therefore, we come to the current discussion around Ibuki's identity and what that means for his writing going forward.
Tumblr media
(Tweet from mika_enstars discussing it, a well-known livetweeter and translator)
Overall, I'm hoping Akira has learned his lesson from the Amagis (and Adonis, while we're at it) and that the poor writing choices will be few and far between this time around, discounting this story, though of course I won't exactly be holding my breath. We'll have to wait and see until more stories drop, but yeah, that's the gist of the situation!

The Amami rabbit is native to the islands of Amami Ōshima and Tokunoshima in southern Kagoshima Prefecture. It is descended from now extinct varieties of primitive rabbits that lived on the Asian mainland. Threatened by habitat loss, it has benefited from growing conservation efforts. Photographer Hamada Futoshi has spent nearly four decades studying and documenting the nocturnal rabbit.
