Happy 16th anniversary to After School!

After School is recognized for their unique "graduation" system where members could join and leave the group over time. This dynamic lineup allowed for constant evolution and freshness in their music and performances. The group debuted with five members: Kahi, Jungah, Jooyeon, Bekah, and Soyoung, and over the years, new members like Uee, Nana, Lizzy, E-Young, and Raina were added, each bringing distinct talents and charisma to the group.

Musically, After School is known for their versatility, covering a wide range of genres from pop and R&B to electronic and dance. Their discography includes emotional ballads like "Because of You," which became a major hit, and high-energy tracks like "Bang!" which featured the members performing with marching band drums, showcasing their dedication to unique performance concepts. Other significant songs include "Diva," "Flashback," and "First Love," the latter incorporating pole dancing into their stage act, a bold and unprecedented move in K-pop.

The group also explored different musical directions through sub-units. Orange Caramel, featuring Nana, Raina, and Lizzy, became especially popular for their quirky, catchy songs such as "Magic Girl" and "Catallena," known for their whimsical and playful style. Members also pursued individual careers in acting, modeling, and solo music. Nana, in particular, gained prominence as a model and actress, while Raina focused on her solo singing career.

After School's innovative performances and bold concepts have left a significant mark on the K-pop industry. They were pioneers in integrating complex performance elements like drumming, pole dancing, and tap dancing, pushing the boundaries of traditional K-pop girl group performances. Though the group entered an indefinite hiatus around 2015, their influence endures, inspiring newer K-pop acts with their risk-taking and creativity.

Even in hiatus, After School’s legacy persists. Their constant reinvention and willingness to experiment set a new standard for performance and creativity in K-pop, making them a memorable and influential part of the industry’s history.

Camp excellence, pure 2nd generation nugu culture, with high pitched singing and every techno beat crammed into four different songs - with no boring ballad to end the album! It’s perfectly, absolutely, outstanding. ✨✨✨

"Shh" blends deep house and dance genres. The music video, presented entirely in black and white, features the members in a masculine concept.

Dal Shabet’s debut album is a perfect example of that 2nd generation, Nugu girl group sound that I absolutely love. A bit over the top, nasally voices, and that overwhelming bubblegum sound that pulls the whole album together. Obviously some tracks (Dal Shabet) are better than others (Oh! Wow!), but all four tracks shine with Dal Shabet’s potential.

O sol já tinha desaparecido por completo quando Kaeun virou o corpo para deitar na cama, ao lado de Hazel. Se antes o quarto era preenchido pelos sons dos corpos e das vozes delas, agora só se ouviam as respirações pesadas, e apesar de ser um pouco tenso, o silêncio entre as duas não era exatamente ruim. Kaeun não poderia dizer como Hazel se sentia, mas ela, certamente estava envolvida em aproveitar as sensações prazerosas que ainda corriam em seu corpo. Os olhos escuros da dj estavam atentos à escuridão do outro lado das cortinas e assim ela ficou, até tomar coragem de se virar sobre o colchão. Ainda havia um leve tremor de nervosismo em seu corpo, uma mistura de emoções complexas pairando no ar, mas ela não resistiu a quebrar o silêncio. — Isso foi... inesperado. — Concluiu antes de dar uma risada solidária, se permitindo observar o corpo deitado ao seu lado.

Antes havia uma tensão um pouco hostil entre elas, se fosse considerar desde que se conheceram, o reencontro como namoradas dos dois irmãos. Tudo era muito difícil, elas se provocavam e não se davam bem, mas a amizade acabou chegando em algum momento. A atração, no entanto, chegou para Kaeun mais rápido do que ela gostaria. Nunca pensaria em se envolver com Hazel, muito menos assumir isso para ela, mas em algum ponto de tudo aquilo as coisas ficaram insuportáveis e ela precisou ceder ao que estava sentindo. Apesar de seu jeito de ser, difícil e um pouco carrancuda, Kaeun sentia que uma empatia genuína havia se formado entre elas ao longo do tempo. Era uma conexão real, sincera, de um jeito que nunca havia sentido antes. Hazel era capaz de trazer o melhor dela, quando nem sabia se isso era possível.

Sua atenção foi trazida de volta ao ouvir o comentário alheio e ela acabou rindo de novo. — É, parece que não somos só amigas agora. Céus, ainda bem que não somos mais cunhadas. — O pensamento era até divertido se pensasse bem, no fim das contas, foram os dois irmãos Choi, completamente malucos e irritantes, que aproximaram as duas, então tinham feito algo de bom no fim das contas. — Saiba que eu não me arrependo de nada, Hazel. Acho que estava evitando admitir, mas sempre senti uma atração por você, mesmo quando não gostávamos uma da outra. — Ela riu outra vez, lembrando do quanto as duas aproveitavam quase chance para se provocarem.  — Eu não esperava que as coisas fossem tomar esse rumo, mas estou feliz que tenhamos nos aberto para isso. — Admitiu, se sentindo mais vulnerável do que nunca naquele momento. A troca de olhares entre elas era intensa, uma comunicação silenciosa que as duas entendiam muito bem. — E agora, Hazel Lee... — Começou novamente, erguendo o corpo o suficiente para se aproximar dela, pairando sobre o corpo alheio. Kaeun sorriu e se abaixou, deixando um beijo no colo dela enquanto sua mão direita buscava a semelhante para que os dedos se tocassem. — Você quer continuar sendo mais do que minha amiga?
