i have so many.........my fave authors are: jessa kane, ella goode, mink, lucy darling, m.l marian (for dark, kidnap-y type romance), juliette cross (more romcom-y, i really LOVED the first book in her "stay a spell" series), cate c. wells, zoe blake (dark romance), tessa bailey (she has some KU romances, please go read!!)

The first time I read this book, I loved it. The second time I read it, I loved it even more. Tanner and Ethan are so perfect together. Their chemistry is off the charts, seriously. There’s so much angst between them (and for good reasons), but I loved seeing how they both let go of that anger and welcomed each other into their lives. And it was fun. Tanner is a fun character and his and Ethan’s interactions, especially at the beginning, were fun to read in the best possible way. I loved how they both were always there for each other. I’m sorry but Ethan and Tanner raised my expectations for men.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game.

I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids.

My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all.

He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known.

We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens.

That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Review:

Enemies to FBW to lovers done so so well.

Both Anton and Ez are such good and complex characters, I went into this book expecting plotless smut - my brain needed a bit of a break and you guys know I love my smut readings - but I was surprised by not only how well rounded these characters were and the clear grow they both go through the book.

Of course the smut was also actually good, so in all it was a well rounded up book that even made me tear up a little! There's other books in this series focusing on different couples and I'm gonna try to get through them before I need to cancel my KU.

my favorite thing in Romance Discourse is the thing where people are like "I've had Enough of Smut, it feels like all Smutty Scenes are just Filler, and I Want Real Emotion, Why Are There So Many Pointless Smut Scenes"

and I'm like "I really don't feel like I read a lot of pointless sex scenes, am I just weird"

and then these people list the books they read and it's all like "Breeding the Housemaid", "Fill 'Er Up", "Manny's Bi Awakening"

If a character is named like a male friend, a friend's (or mine) pets, or a friend's hubby I can't keep reading book.

I can only picture who the name reminds me off and not the character in the book.

I think my issue with a lot of fantasy heroines is how JOYLESS they all tend to be. They're miserable, angry, and suspicious and we're too often in their head for all of it. They find nothing that offers them the slightest bit of happiness nor do they ever try and seek it out. And I find that so at odds with my own experience of being human and being alive.

More than that, though, it makes is SO DIFFICULT to see what people even like about this person. She's rude and angry (which always translates to tough for some reason) and yet men are falling all over themselves to romance her and everyone wants to be her friend. Why? She offers none of herself in exchange- no vulnerability, no kindness, no friendship. She is allowed to insult them, to hurt their feelings, and remained closed off and everyone around her is expected to endure it because she's special.

I don't like it. I hate her, and often her source material and the author for eschewing kindness, humor, or emotional venerability in favor of sword swinging and sharp words. I'm tired of being told this is feminism, that this woman is the kind of badass we should all strive to be, or that this is even an enjoyable time being in the head of someone who can't bring herself to smile at another woman offering her compassion because kindness = weakness.
