15-year-old boy accused of shooting 7 Gresham school buses with pellet gun

GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) - A teenage boy is facing charges after police say he shot at Gresham-Barlow School District buses that were on the way to pick up students.On Wednesday, shortly after 2:30 p.m., buses were driving on Southeast Powell Valley Boulevard and Kane Drive, near Gordon Russell Middle School, when they were hit. Police say seven buses were struck, damaging three windshields and four side windows.Thankfully, no students were aboard at the time.A 15-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was identified as the suspect. Police say he admitted to shooting a pellet gun at the school bus windows. The boy was taken to Donald E. Long Home to face first-degree criminal mischief charges.Fights between students happen at every high school, but not every school has the right tools to resolve those conflicts.There’s no word from the school district if he is a student in the district or from police on why he would shoot at buses.Police say they partner with SafeOregon to give kids, parents and anyone in the community a way to report any safety threat or potential act of violence - confidentially and anonymously with a call, text or email.Copyright 2024 KPTV-KPDX. N220HA, one of Hawaiian Airlines' 18 Airbus A321neo aircraft, loads up at Portland International for a departure to Maui. ⁣ ⁣ The Airbus A321neos of Hawaiian are powered by the Pratt and Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan and are replacements for the Boeing 767-300s, offering far better operating economics, fuel economy and network flexibility than the older widebody aircraft, particularly in the pandemic recovery environment. The A321neo has been used predominantly on Hawaiian's routes between the islands and the US West Coast but sometimes supplements the Boeing 717 on some of the busier inter-island routes. ⁣ ⁣ The A321neos free up the A330s for other longer routes pending the arrival of the Boeing 787s in Hawaiian's fleet. ⁣ ⁣ The first A321neo for Hawaiian was delivered in 2017 and the eighteenth example delivered in 2020. SILVERTON Ore. (KPTV) – A Silverton dog rescue woke up to flooding kennels on Sunday morning after a weekend of pouring rain.

Tammy Lalack, the founder of Woods Creek Rescue, said she hasn’t seen anything like it in the nine years she’s been there.

“It was pouring down and it was kind of like a creek was running through,” Lalack said. “It kind of brought along some anxiety for me because I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh. What am I going to do?”

She started by calling someone who helps at the rescue, who had been planning to sleep in.

“I said, ‘Can you help me? I don’t know what to do!”

She sent him the video of all the flooding, which did the trick.

Lalack laughed. He’d told her “I’ll be right over.”

Some other folks brought over sandbags to try and help as they dug a couple-hundred-foot trench around the yard and did their best to make the dogs comfortable.

Through it all, she was wading through the flooding water, with the smaller of the 15 dogs at the Rescue, to find them dry spots “to go potty. Giving them that security. Letting them know it’s alright to go out and get a little wet.”

Lalack said dealing with the elements seems to just come with the territory.

“I battle [the elements] every year for them out here.” For them, meaning the dogs she’s surrounded in. Who she says she loves very much and would do anything for.

“Yes,” she said. “Anything for them.”

She calls animals her passion, “giving them a chance in life and finding that forever home.”

Lalack is hoping to install some sort of drain to make sure things like this don’t happen again in the future.

How to remove rows with duplicate index values?

In the weather DataFrame below, sometimes a scientist goes back and corrects observations -- not by editing the erroneous rows, but by appending a duplicate row to the end of a file.

I'm reading some automated weather data from the web (observations occur every 5 minutes, and compiled into monthly files for each weather station.) After parsing a file, the DataFrame looks like:
