15-year-old boy accused of shooting 7 Gresham school buses with pellet gun

GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) - A teenage boy is facing charges after police say he shot at Gresham-Barlow School District buses that were on the way to pick up students.On Wednesday, shortly after 2:30 p.m., buses were driving on Southeast Powell Valley Boulevard and Kane Drive, near Gordon Russell Middle School, when they were hit. Police say seven buses were struck, damaging three windshields and four side windows.Thankfully, no students were aboard at the time.A 15-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was identified as the suspect. Police say he admitted to shooting a pellet gun at the school bus windows. The boy was taken to Donald E. Long Home to face first-degree criminal mischief charges.Fights between students happen at every high school, but not every school has the right tools to resolve those conflicts.There’s no word from the school district if he is a student in the district or from police on why he would shoot at buses.Police say they partner with SafeOregon to give kids, parents and anyone in the community a way to report any safety threat or potential act of violence - confidentially and anonymously with a call, text or email.Copyright 2024 KPTV-KPDX. SILVERTON Ore. (KPTV) – A Silverton dog rescue woke up to flooding kennels on Sunday morning after a weekend of pouring rain.

Tammy Lalack, the founder of Woods Creek Rescue, said she hasn’t seen anything like it in the nine years she’s been there.

“It was pouring down and it was kind of like a creek was running through,” Lalack said. “It kind of brought along some anxiety for me because I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh. What am I going to do?”

She started by calling someone who helps at the rescue, who had been planning to sleep in.

“I said, ‘Can you help me? I don’t know what to do!”

She sent him the video of all the flooding, which did the trick.

Lalack laughed. He’d told her “I’ll be right over.”

Some other folks brought over sandbags to try and help as they dug a couple-hundred-foot trench around the yard and did their best to make the dogs comfortable.

Through it all, she was wading through the flooding water, with the smaller of the 15 dogs at the Rescue, to find them dry spots “to go potty. Giving them that security. Letting them know it’s alright to go out and get a little wet.”

Lalack said dealing with the elements seems to just come with the territory.

“I battle [the elements] every year for them out here.” For them, meaning the dogs she’s surrounded in. Who she says she loves very much and would do anything for.

“Yes,” she said. “Anything for them.”

She calls animals her passion, “giving them a chance in life and finding that forever home.”

Lalack is hoping to install some sort of drain to make sure things like this don’t happen again in the future.

In the weather DataFrame below, sometimes a scientist goes back and corrects observations -- not by editing the erroneous rows, but by appending a duplicate row to the end of a file.

I'm reading some automated weather data from the web (observations occur every 5 minutes, and compiled into monthly files for each weather station.) After parsing a file, the DataFrame looks like:

Hi everyone, I’m Berry and I just wanted to take a few minutes to introduce you to Ravi. He’s a new muse and I’m still feeling him out a little but we’re both safe, I promise no biting and we’re definitely up to plotting but more about that in a little bit. First Ravi. 

Ravi’s parents were both the first generation born in the United States to families that originated from Gujrat, India. Ravi spent his youth in the southern United States, spending time in Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. His father initially worked for a major Engineering firm with global reach and his mother was a University professor. 

His parents were extremely strict and believed that it was important for their children to be well versed, in the values and expectations of the country they called home but it was also important that they upheld the cultural and religious traditions that were both stressed in their homes. 

The Kapoor children sometimes struggled with where they fit in, within their families but also their communities. In some places they called home, they were accepted without question and in others, they were judged immediately on appearance alone and false stereotypes were often placed upon them.

Ravi was an above average student, not excellent but above average, slightly above average much to his parents dismay. He was popular among class mates and participated in many extracurricular activities. When deciding on where to study after high school, Ravi chose a HBCU in Georgia.

While in college he studied Communications and eventually got involved with the university’s Media Relations department as an intern. 

After his undergraduate studies, he moved up north for post graduate studies and a paying internship with Sirius XM. He grew tired of big city life and wanted something smaller and similar to the towns he grew up in when he was younger, which explained the move to Oregon. 

Ravi is equally silly and an overbearing. He’s a control freak and a procrastinating perfectionist. 

The little things - 90′s R&B and Hip-Hop is his thing. He swears he can cook but if I were you, I wouldn’t eat his food. Never been married or in a significant long term relationship. He finds a way to self sabotage around the nine month anniversary mark if not sooner. His longest and most profitable relationship has been his career.
