Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

Most people don't like to be whistled at on the street, but for male kob antelope it's an essential part of attracting a mate! Males in their prime gather at a designated breeding ground, called a lek, and whistle to gather the attention of nearby females, who then chose a partner based on his fitness and ability to fight off rivals.

People who know indie TTRPGS, could you help me find a system that checks as many of these boxes as you can think of?

-Slower paced, focused on characters

-My group is saying similar vibes to Wanderhome but that’s the only slow, collaborative game they’ve played so maybe take that with a grain of salt

-Flexible enough character creation to allow us to port in characters (these characters have all been in Oh Fuck, the Killer! and Kids on Bikes before so basically we need to be able to be regular teenagers who may or may not be in a slightly supernatural world)

-Based around or otherwise would lend itself to being about preparing for Christmas

I know this sounds so specific but we all got really attached to our Halloween oneshot characters last year and it snowballed into us now doing a Christmas special 😭😭😭

Kob (Kobus kob)

Habitat & Distribution

Most common on savannahs and floodplains, but can also be found in sparse woodlands

Distributed throughout central Africa, from Senegal to Kenya

Physical Description

Weight: 94 kg (207 lb) on average for males, 63 kg (139 lb) for females

Height at shoulder: 90–100 cm (3.0–3.3 ft) for males, 82–92 cm (2.69–3.02 ft) for females

Both males and females are a golden brown with white undersides; males are distinguised by a set of curved, ridged horns

Behaviour

Males and females can live in herds of typically 5-40 individuals but can number well into the thousands; these herds are typically female-dominated, but there are herds that are composed entirely of males

Female-dominated herds tend to travel extensively between water sources, while males remain within set territories

Kob are herbivores, feeding primarily on grasses and new shoots

Main predators are cheetahs, lions, hyenas, and African wild dogs

Key Advantages

While normally only used in ritual combat with other males, the kob's horns can be used to deter predators

Kob can run up to 60 kph (37 mph) and are quite agile

Like many antelope, they have accute senses of hearing and smell

So so so excited to share this character!! I drew this back in early August when I got to do a session 0 for a post-apocalypse IRL setting (...MERICA) kids (adults) on bikes campaign!

This is my character, Terry, bigender canto-canadian from Montreal. There's a running joke that we should all just play ourselves since it was a real world setting but I was like how about me a little to the left? Hence, Terry LOL she's a scout, I'm gonna be the party's ranger-rogue basically, for everyone more familiar with DnD rather than KOB.

Bush is the main guitarist. (don't question how electric guitars with amp's would work with dragons that doesn't matter atm).

And yeah another trans silkwing? tbh this gives me mtf vibes but also non-conforming. So atm I'm placing Bush as demi-girl?

For trans dragons in wof, I feel like it would work like frogs or certain fish and lizards, if given the time, space and environment they will start to change physically, it's not like a switch it would be more like a deeply felt feeling (;-;) depending on the type of hormones relating to their transition.

Also Bush and Dispar are both Silkwings because the band members they represent literally live in the same state and SAME CITY. James Shaffer also lives in the same spot so he's gonna be a Hivewing instead.
