Such a good episode! Not plot-heavy, just a silly episode. I'll gladly take it as my late birthday present. And it's great to have Swag back, kinda was half-expecting Chris to just pop out.

I've said this once and I'll say it again: I wouldn't mind if the rest of the year is just filled with goofy episodes. After all, we just came from WOTFI and we do need a bit of a break so the Team could work on the next arc. (From the looks of things, we might get goop!4 *cough cough*)

Loved the bits of animation and Mario's expressions as always.

Now, I know there is some talk about the SMG4 Crew/Mario Does Things being on hiatus and merging with the Saturday videos. If you can even call it that. Personally, I don't mind it. I completely understand if doing 2 episodes per week is a lot for the Team to handle, though I do wish they would give an explanation for it. I think the best solution would be for the Team making an announcement of the change, the reasons behind it, and how it may be different from the regular Saturday episodes. Also make it clear that "hey, the title says this so it doesn't impact the main storyline".

Anyway, it has been overall a pretty funny episode and I quite enjoyed it! Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna cry my eyes out watching the rest of Arcane Act 3 and bring that angst to the next episode concept :)

Hancock at Goodneighbor

The List

Vic's body is swinging at the end of his rope, and Hancock's gaze is fixed on him. Then he glances down, but there isn't the same crowd there to applaud him as he remembers.

The faces turned upright to look back at him are those distorted by hatred of all the people who stood in his way.

No, not the people who got in his path.

These are the people on whose path Hancock stood. He stood up to oppressors and thugs who dared to target the weakest.

And they are now looking deep into Hancock's soul, yelling and cursing in wrath.

And one sentence slams Hancock repeatedly.

“Like us! You're like us!”

Hancock grits his teeth and tries to ignore it, but the voices infiltrate his thoughts and create a dreadful echo that repeats incessantly.

The ghoul sits up straight abruptly, short of breath, and takes a time to recover. He looks around. He isn't at Goodneighbor.

In fact, he is. He's at Goodneighbor. But he's not in the Old State House. He's in a dingy room at the Hotel Rexford.

What was he doing there?

He rubs his temples. He must have been drunk out of his ass again to forget how to go home.

This is not new.

Hancock stands up, little dazed at first but quickly regaining his bearings. He looks around the room. It is obviously one of the hotel rooms. It smells of smoke and cheap beer, and the bed looks to be kind of worn out.

He looks down at himself and realizes he didn't even bother to take off his clothes before passing out.

“Damn it,” he murmurs, attempting to recall the night before.

Trying is often pointless. Even for a ghoul, his abuse is enough to permanently disable the brain cells that could have held the information. Thus, he simply exits the room and, as usual, faces Fahrenheit waiting outside.

“All the caravans handed over their caps, KL-e-o agreed to the price hike, Irma—

Hancock lifts his hand to interrupt her.

“Hold on. We have yet to reach my office. We're still in the motel hallway, damn it.”

“The latest mandates that require your backing are currently pending your review in your office.”

“And shit, shit even more than yesterday.”

“Less than tomorrow?” his daughter jokes, not smiling.

Hancock sighs.

He scrubs his face with both hands, his head still pounding from last night's booze binge.

“Great, just what we required. More trash to approve and sign.” He gazes at Fahrenheit, his vision still hazy. “What specifically is waiting for me? Is there anyone new?”

“This infamous troublemaker, the Sole Survivor. I caught him with Bobbi-no-nose in our stash.”

The mayor gives the young woman a shocked stare.

“Well, he didn't seem like the kind of person to put his hands where they shouldn't.”

“He gave off the vibe of someone who'd go to great lengths for a few caps. That was the reason he agreed to the grim offer concerning the Pickman gallery.”

A harsh laugh spills out of Hancock. He shakes his head angrily.

“Well, ain't that just a stroke of genius? If he got himself tangled up with Bobbi, he's truly not the sharpest tool in the shed. Now that's just adding fuel to the fire.” He can't help but laugh again at the idea of the man. “The infamous Sole Survivor, huh? More like the infamous Moron. And they say we’ve got issues with drifters.”

“In truth, Bobbi deceived this Sole. When they realized where they were going, they flipped the scrips. They stuffed it down Bobbi's throat, I'd say. She likely won't get back for a time.”

Hancock makes a sour face.

“What’s the message you’re trying to send my way?”

“That's how I perceived the character. They could have thrown a wrench into our plans, making everything a lot more difficult. Yet, they chose a different path. I instructed them to come and show their respects anyway, so if I'm correct, you should be hearing from them soon.”

The ghoul lowers his head, pondering. As they've arrives at the State House, he sighs.

“Sometimes I wonder...”

The tall redhead looks at him intently.

“What?”

“Am I not turning like them?”

The gaze, deep and dark, pierces into the young woman’s eyes.

“Who are you talking about?”

“Like all those bastards whose portrait I've swept under the pretext of standing up for the weak.”

Fahrenheit seems somewhat uneasy about the topic and unsure of how to answer.

“You're not turning into one of them,” she remarks after a brief hesitation. “You continue to defend the vulnerable. All the folks in Goodneighbor look up to you, Hancock. You are the beacon that lights our way.”

Hancock grumbles, not quite convinced. He's been having these types of doubts since a while, and they're becoming more intense with each passing day.

“Seems more to me that not everyone holds your truly in high regard.”

Following that, they begin their nasty ritual. He signs paperwork, questions some people thoroughly, gives a speech to uplift his town, and just as he is about to head for the Third Rail, someone walks into his office.

He almost forgot about the newbie. It's tough to forget someone who strolled like a target while wearing a blue and yellow jacket over his back, though.

He leans back into his chemistry workbench, where he was gathering his entertainment for the evening, and greets them.

“Well, if it ain't Bobbi's little patsy.” He tosses the other a good purse of caps. “Here, for protecting my stash. Wise decision to put Bobbi down like that.”

His interlocutor seizes the purse in the air. Good reflexes.

“I'm sorry. For everything.”

Hancock takes a brief peek at his opposite. They own something. It's not false humility. They seems to be in genuine sorrow. Would Fahrenheit be right? It hurts him to accept it, but it gives him an idea. And this person is perhaps exactly what he needs.

Hancock takes another close look at that other, examining them from head to toe. They certainly know how to make an impression, with that iconic jacket and all. But Hancock senses that there's more to that facade than just a dumb merc.

“Don't worry about it,” he replies, taking a drag of jet. “You did the right thing. If anything, I’m the one who should be thanking you. You got me rid of an annoying problem.” He takes a deep breathe. “Lemme tell ya. This classy little tricorner hat of mine is getting heavy. Am I turning into the man? Some kind of tyrant? I spend all my time putting down the people I would've been proud to scheme with just a few years ago. I need to take a walk again. Get a grip on what really matters: Living free.”

Taking a seat on the couch, the Sole Survivor in turn studies him from head to toe.

“If you're heading out, why not come with me?”

Hancock raises an eyebrow, intrigued.

“You want me to tag along, huh? Now there’s an offer I wasn’t expecting.”

He takes another shot of jet and contemplates the proposition for a few moments, his gaze still fixated on the young person.

“Yes, I like it. You might just be the right kind of trouble.”

It doesn't take long to organize everything. The paperwork puts in order, his instructions to his people given, and another brief speech for the gallery. Though Fahrenheit appears less at ease, he is confident that she will manage quite fine.

“And for how long, precisely?” She questions him bluntly.

“Precisely? So, you think you can bend the breeze to your whims?”

And that is how he ends up on the road with that odd individual. It doesn't take long to learn to appreciate them. He was right. Just the good kind of trouble he needed.

Time is passing rapidly. The new companion is not exactly lazy. This unexpected detail caught Hancock completely off guard.

He is a ghoul, thus he doesn't need as much sleep as a human, but what about the other? The others, when they depart on the road, leave without measuring a day.

They journey across the Commonwealth from top to bottom, east to west, one settlement to the next, assisting those in need while punishing those who merited it.

It was refreshing and exhilarating.

The trip of a lifetime.

He hadn't felt so alive in years. His travels with the Sole Survivor was unlike anything he'd done since leaving Diamond City. Hancock felt liberated, as if a burden had been lifted from his shoulders. For once, he could simply be himself.

When Sole eventually chooses to call it a night, Hancock jumps in to do the same. Even him is starting to feel fatigued.

However, while in the sleeping area, he examines the bed with mistrust.

He knows what's going to happen.

He knows that as soon as he closes his eyes, he will be assaulted by his usual nightmares.

With a sigh, he sits down on the bed. His friend stares up at him from the other cot.

“What's going on?”

Hancock hesitates for a long time, although he has been shockingly open to this individual on multiple occasions.

“My conscience tends to visit me at night when I close my eyes.”

“Yeah, not good. Hey, know that I'm here. If it's that bad, remember that I don't sleep that deeply.”

The ghoul, taken aback by the offer, cocks his head, chuckles, and declines it with a jest.

“Nah, I'm a grow-up, I don't need to be bunked.”

Sole rolls his eyes.

“Oh, shut up, you stubborn old fool,” he replies with a playful tone. “I wasn't offering to hold your hand through the night, but waking up for a small talk is far better than waking up to your constant screaming and kicking in the middle of the night.”

Hancock gives a resigned sigh, knowing that the other is most likely right.

“Alright, you got me. But don’t go thinking that makes me weak. And don’t go thinkin’ I’m gonna spill my guts and get all mushy about it. I ain't some helpless soul waiting for a knight in gleaming armor, you catch my drift?”

Sole rolls his eyes again.

“Yes, I heard it loud and clear. You are the toughest ghoul in all of Boston. We're all terrified of your power and colossal ego.”

Hancock huffs and pretends to be offended.

“You oughta trust it, my friend. I'm on the brink of becoming a legend. Even the fiercest Deathclaws shudder at the sound of my name.”

Sole chuckles.

“Right, right. I will make sure to let everyone know. 'Here lies the mighty Hancock, terror of the wasteland'.”

Hancock smiles, enjoying the small quip.

“That's the spirit,” he states, falling into the bed. “Just keep those lips sealed and avoid any loud snoozing, alright? If you dare, I'll send you crashing to the ground.”

A smile remains etched on Hancock's lips as Sole spreads in turn.

“With the holes in your face,” they reply, “I'm sure you're the snorer of the place.”

Hancock pretends to be offended again.

“Mind your words, pal. A face like mine tells tales of survival and the lessons learned in the wasteland. And let me tell ya, the ladies can't get enough of it.”

He winks jokingly at Sole.

“Yeah, they all want a piece of you,” answers back Sole. “It looks like a literal problem.”

This time, the mayor can't stop laughing, and his companion joins in. When they finally calm down, Sole turns off the light, leaving them in full darkness.

The moment of truth.

But the moment of truth comes and goes. Surprisingly, Hancock wakes up with the sun, looking as fresh as a daisy.

No dreadful dream has ever come to haunt his mind throughout the night.

Hancock sits up and blinks in amazement. He cannot believe it. No nightmares, cold sweats, or waking up in the middle of the night screaming like a stuck pig.

He looks across at his friend and gives a quiet giggle.

“Well, look at that. Seems like I've got myself a shiny new good luck charm, huh?”

White River Entrance is in the northeast corner of Mount Rainier National Park and was built between 1929-1931 in anticipation of the opening of Sunrise Road in 1931. It replaced an earlier entrance station that had been built in 1915. The new White River Entrance was modeled after the Nisqually Entrance, the first entrance in the park located in the southwest corner. The White River Ranger Station, which served as a combined office and checking station, was constructed of whole logs with a cedar shingle roof in the NPS Rustic style of architecture. A large porte-cochère, a roof extending out over the roadway, was added to the design to help serve visitors during poor weather. A few years later, a very similar porte-cochère was added to the Nisqually Entrance checking station.

The White River porte-cochère was altered three times over the years, at one point extending over two lanes with a fee kiosk in the middle, before ultimately being downsized to its current smaller configuration that no longer allows vehicles. The current entrance kiosks were built in 2001 and the historic ranger station now serves as the White River Wilderness Information Center. White River Ranger Station is a contributing building to the Mount Rainier National Historic Landmark District.

i’ve got a bit of a speculative ask for you but how many friends/companions & ladies in waiting, etc do you think elia had as she was growing up (other than her brothers and ashara) and if so which houses would they probably be from?

Yay, I love Elia asks! Personally, I think Elia had more companions once she grew up a little and people were assured she wasn't going to keel over and die suddenly. Oberyn tells Tyrion that she was of delicate health which had never permitted her to travel much; Doran admitted he didn't think she'd live as a baby:

"Even when Lord Gargalen told me that I had a sister, I assured him that she must shortly die."

So I think the other Dornish noble houses probably felt the same hesitancy about Elia as she grew up sickly (my headcanon is that she had a wheelchair as a young girl which Oberyn liked to push too hard until he almost broke her neck once or twice); I imagine Elia played with both noble and lowborn children in the Water Gardens, but everyone knew she was delicate and probably was not allowed to do many strenuous exercises/activities. Once she came of age, I think some canonical lady-in-waiting or companions apart from Ashara could've been Delonne Allyrion (born before 252, some 5 or more years older than Elia), Larra Blackmont (no known age), and Nymella Toland (no known age). I don't have any other female, Dornish canon character of her age :(

It's almost criminal how little info we have of the current and past members of Dornish houses. Going a little more into speculative mode, I think Dorne in general may have thought Elia's marriage could bring a new era of prosperity in a similar vein of Myriah. Just like Myriah's marriage brought opportunities in King's Landing for Dornishmen ("[...] for Daeron II brought many Dornishmen to his court, some of whom were granted offices of note"), I imagine many noble Dornish houses thought they could send relatives with Elia to King's Landing so they could have important positions/gain influence/support their princess. It's remarked that some of Rhaegar's companions and supporters were the Dornishmen who had come with Elia after their marriage ("the Dornishmen who had come to court with the Princess Elia were in the prince's confidence as well, particularly Prince Lewyn Martell, Elia's uncle"); I don't think it's that much of a stretch to claim that Elia brought with her a circle of Dornish allies, including the ladies-in-waiting, and plotted to put them in important positions in court so they could be her confidants once she became Queen.

I would really like to know about more female Dornish characters of Elia's generation, especially of House Yronwood who were clearly offended after Edgar' and Oberyn's duel; maybe a Yronwood daughter was sent with Elia too as lady-in-waiting, as another effort to appease their most powerful bannermen? And if you send a Yronwood daughter then you probably have to send an available Fowler daughter too, you don't want to show that much favor to a House unnecessarily, but this is most of the speculation I have; I don't know how many ladies-in-waiting does a noble woman have on average, so I hope Elia had lots of Dornish women with her who consoled her and were her friends at Dragonstone and KL. At this point I would beg GRRM for more info about Dorne, but I'm afraid of what's waiting for us in Winds of Winter...

Waktu itu aku dan mas mogi pernah diskusi tentang value dalam hidup sama Mbak Magleb Elmir sebelum kami ke Oz. Mbaleb cerita, kalau salah satu value yang sama-sama dipegang antara Mbaleb dan Ka Ivan Ahda adalah "Kebebasan". Terus ditanya, kalau value Ainna dan Mogi apa? Kami terdiam, belum kepikiran juga.

Terus pas semalam abis presentasi paper dan ngobrol dengan supervisorku sambil aku gendong anakku, supervisorku bilang ke anakku "Do you know that your mom is a smart women?" gue kaya terenyuh.... udah lama bgt gak dipuji pinter dan gue emang gak pernah consider diri gue pinter yaa, berhubung nilai-nilai gue selalu standar atau cenderung dibawah standar. Tapi emang supervisor gue ini baik banget, dan bukan hanya dia yang baik tapi emang tipikal dosen Australia yang baik sih ya.

Ini adalah pengalaman pertamaku riset, pengalaman pertamaku mempresentasikan hasil risetku ke wider audience. Rasanya deg-degan yet exciting!

terus pagi ini aku kaya mikir, padahal aku gak pernah kepikiran loh riset karena aku cenderung gak suka sama hubungan dosen dan mahasiswa di Indonesia. Tapi disini kenapa aku suka riset ya? Oh karena ternyata hubungan yang dibangun adalah setara!

Supervisor gak nganggep gue lebih gak tau daripada dia. Supervisor gue ngasih sedikit arahan tapi gue yang terus mendayungnya. Supervisor gue menghargai semua ide gue, tapi dia kasih masukan-masukan. Keegaliteran itu yang ternyata membuat gue nyaman berinteraksi dengan dosen-dosen gue disini.

Ternyata nilai egaliter ini berpengaruh besar dalam hidup gue khususnya dalam relasi personal dan profesional.

Misalkan, gue selalu bilang kalau gue gak suka kerja di rumah sakit, karena hubungan yg dibangun gak egaliter. Ners most likely tetep ada "dibawah" dokter. Ners baru lulus kek gue harus manut sama ners senior.

Gue loyal sama kantor gue yang dulu sblm pindah ke Oz dari 2019 sampe 2023 karena hubungan yang setara antar associate, CEO dan tim management lainnya. Tapi, sempet juga gue kerja full time di salah satu NGO sbg monev officer, gue cuman tahan 3 bulan, karena bossnya songong dan gak berprinsip egaliter 😂

Pun dalam hubungan rumah tangga ini, gue ngerasa di treat setara sama suami gue. Sama-sama harus ngerjain tugas rumah tangga, sama-sama harus anter jemput anak, dkk wkwk. Bahkan dulu ketika beliau sekolah di Yogya, gue sama Hannah tuh beneran dibawa ke acara nongkrong-nongkrong sm temen-temennya biar gue juga bisa kenal dan mingle sama temennya wkwkw.

Egaliter ini juga gue dan mas mogi tunjukkan dalam hubungan terhadap anak. Gue berusaha untuk meminta izin kepada Hannah kl mau melakukan sesuatu terhadap dia. Gue juga meminta maaf kalau gue membuat dia marah. Atau kadang bahkan Hannah menegur gue kalau gue ceroboh melakukan sesuatu dengan bilang "Ambu tidak hati-hati" 😂😂😂 (karena gue suka ngomong gitu juga ke dia) wkwkw.

Jadi buat gue hubungan egaliter tuh penting banget, kalau buat kamu, value apa yang penting?

Lmaoooo Alicent and Gwayne laugh their asses off in their fathers office when they hear about Alysor beating Daemons ass into the ground for repeatedly trying to get Laena after she'd refused, Otto tries not to join and fails. Viserys can't even be mad anymore when Alicent tells him what Daemon had been doing and saying, which led to his beating. If Daemon tries to be a baby and push for punishment for a lower man putting hands on a prince, Viserys does the most tame ass thing he can think of, like Alysor is forbidden from leaving KL for a while or something (which he wasn't going to do anyway, so it's really not a punishment, it just shuts his brother up) 🤣 Daemon better stop before he gets himself exiled again.

09-24 → Xiao Chu's husband deleted the photos he had posted of her wearing EHZ.Z merch and privated his account. (see 09-23 for context) On a related note, there is evidence that Xiao Chu wrote the script for the teleprompter Zhang Sanjian read off of during the KL concert.

→ ELLEidol posted an interview with Gong Jun filmed in New York. [subbed video]

→ Gong Jun's studio posted nine photos of him beside a lake in Italy. Caption: "The breeze blows on my face, and the ripples of early autumn appear. @ Gong Jun Simon listens to stories by the lake."

→ Gong Jun attended a live event for Zhenguoli. The time and place for the event was only given to Gong Jun's solo fan club. The event officially banned fan symbols (ie. banners etc.), but in reality only prevented people with CPF symbols from entering the venue, with some of the event organizers reportedly acting in a way that instigated fighting between CPFs and solos at the entrance. This led to heated verbal fighting and at least one CPF being assaulted; this CPF later filed a police report against the assailant. The assault was captured on video by the event staff, who later withheld the footage.

This was reposted by BEAST, added caption: "There is a tree to lean on and a dream to pursue; taking root in the earth and living endlessly - this is the meaning of the tree of life."

09-26 → The scam gang released another song, this time not even pretending to credit any writers for something that was obviously AI generated. The vocals sound horribly breathy and nothing like Zhang Zhehan.

→ BAZAAR posted nine photos of Gong Jun in collaboration with Zhenguoli. They later posted a video to the same effect. The same were also were posted by Zhenguoli, [here] and [here]. In a surprising twist given the events earlier in the week, toxic solo fans boycotted this photoshoot and got angry at both Zhenguoli and Gong Jun's studio because Gong Jun had been given equal billing with the three other celebrities who modelled for the campaign, with his status as brand spokesperson not mentioned.

09-28 → Vogue posted an interview with Gong Jun. Fan Observation: He mentioned that he had recently watched The Mandalorian, commenting on how the protagonist is very trustworthy and loyal to his promises. 🥺

→ GXG posted three photos ads featuring Gong Jun.

Fan Observation: The fact that this was posted to the studio's side account, which is not linked anywhere on the studio's main account and only really known about through word of mouth, stinks of them trying to brush the whole thing under the rug.

Homeless NDA Ministers

NDA goes through changes

Indian politics witnessed weighty changes in 2024. On 7th June 2024, Narendra Modi confirmed the support of 293 MPs to Droupadi Murmu, the President of India. This marked Modi’s third term as Prime Minister and his first-time heading NDA-led coalition government with the Telugu Desam Party of Andhra Pradesh and Janata Dal (United) of Bihar emerging as two primary alliances.

A noticeable step taken by the Directorate of Estates (DoE) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) surely makes up for a sweeping swap!

DoE served a notice to few of the former Union Ministers in Indian Politics to vacate their official accommodation in Delhi’s Lutyens’ by 10 July as requests for accommodation pour in from newly appointed ministers.

All Union ministers and ministers of state (MoS) in Indian politics are entitled to a ‘Type VIII’ bungalow in Delhi’s Lutyens’. Former ministers have to vacate such an accommodation when they lose their ministerial berth, according to the DoE rules.

NDA-led coalition government have removed thirty-seven formers ministers in from Narendra Modi’s Union Council of Ministers. Indian politics stands synonymous to shifting gears.

Significant leaders in Indian politics namely Smriti Irani, Arjun Munda, R.K Singh, Niranjan Jyoti, Sanjeev Balyan, and Rajeev Chandrashekhar, lost in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Others, such as Anurag Thakur, Narayan Rane, and Parshottam Rupala, won but did not get a ministerial berth this time. Some, such as Meenakshi Lekhi, did not get a ticket to contest the polls as the BJP replaced them with new faces. When the nation asks what is politics, well this is the face of real Indian Politics.

The DoE notice will be followed by a show cause notice eventually leading to an eviction notice.

Indian politics is often referred as the dance of democracy! While few ministers might still be showing unwillingness to vacate, there are others who have been upfront in changing their designated accommodation.

Former Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who was served with an eviction notice by the Directorate of Estates recently, has also conveyed that he would be vacating the 27, Safdarjung Road bungalow.

Lutyens-Landmark in Indian Politics

Spread across an area of 23.60sqkm, The Lutyens Bungalow Zone is home to the luminaries of Indian Politics as well as high-net-worth individuals with about 3000 government-owned bungalows.

Serving NDA Union ministers were eligible for accommodation as allotted by the DoE. House committees of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats are the competent authorities to allot accommodation to MPs.

Members are entitled to a licence-fee free flat or hostel accommodation throughout their term of office.

Members are entitled to water supply without payment of charges up to 4000 kl per annum. They are eligible for electricity up to 50,000 units (25,000 units measure on light meter and 25,000 units on power meter or pooled together) per annum beginning from January 1 every year.

Other facilities include- washing of sofa covers and curtains every three months. Furniture within the monetary ceiling of Rs 60,000 in respect of durable furniture.

They are also allowed for a 25 per cent remission in the rent on account of any improvement or addition made to it or any additional service provided thereto by way of furniture, electrical equipment and other services.

Editor’s Note

Around 50 former union ministers and MPs from the last Lok Sabha have been sent notice by DoE to vacate their official accommodation. Home is always closest to ones heart and when it is in the poshest locality of the capital and earned through valid eligibility, the address caries a myriad of meaning for the resident. Apparently it is just might be a regular governmental procedure but delving deep, slight feeling uprootedness might haunt souls of Indian politics.
