There are operas that dazzle with their grandeur, and there are those that haunt quietly, shimmering in the deep wells of cultural memory like a candle left flickering in a monastery crypt. “Tahar”, composed in 1958 by the Bulgarian maestro Parashkev Hadjiev, belongs to the latter—a work that sings not only with voice and orchestra, but with the aching heart of a nation remembering its broken unity.

A Musical Structure Built Like a Fortress

Parashkev Hadjiev, a composer known for his richly textured works rooted in Bulgarian folklore, approached “Tahar” with a maturity of craftsmanship that surpasses many of his better-known contemporaries. The opera’s structure is a triptych—three acts that unfold like the bellows of an ancient accordion, wheezing with longing and triumph.

At its core lies a dense leitmotivic system. Tahar himself is represented by a soaring motif in D minor—a rising fifth followed by a melancholy descending sixth—that weaves itself through the fabric of the score like a shadow behind every scene. His theme is first introduced by the French horn, cloaked in the thrum of low strings, as if the mountains of medieval Bulgaria themselves are whispering his fate. As the opera progresses, this motif is passed among instruments and transfigured—becoming a martial brass fanfare in Act II and a tragic, broken harp figure in the final scene.

The choral writing in “Tahar” deserves reverent mention. Hadjiev’s use of the mixed SATB chorus in Act I, portraying the villagers and warriors of the fragmented Bulgarian provinces, is both a nod to Orthodox liturgical styles and a dramatic device. He interlaces heterophonic textures, a distinctly Balkan trait, to evoke the communal sorrow of a people divided by petty lords and foreign invaders.

Harmony in “Tahar” is neither purely Romantic nor strictly modal; it is hybridized, like the cultural soul of Bulgaria itself. Hadjiev employs Phrygian and Dorian modes, often slipping into bitonality to highlight moments of moral ambiguity. The Act II confrontation between Tahar and the traitorous boyar is scored with clashing tonal centers—E minor against F-sharp Phrygian—making their ideological rift literally painful to the ear.

Rhythmically, the opera pulses with the heartbeat of the Balkans. Asymmetric meters, such as 7/8 and 9/8, are used liberally, particularly in the battle scenes and dance interludes. A standout is the dance of the rebel youths, choreographed to a whirling 11/8 rhythm, which surges with life and the desperate energy of those who know they may not live to see the next dawn.

A Story That Burns Like a Lover’s Letter

The story of Tahar is not merely a tale of political resistance—it is an intimate lament for lost ideals, and a poetic invocation of sacrifice.

Tahar is not a king or noble, but a dreamer-warrior, one whose hands are calloused not from luxury but from forging unity in the fires of conviction. His love for Elena, a healer’s daughter, is no mere subplot—it is the beating heart of the opera. Their duet in Act I, “В кръв и светлина ще те пазя” (“In blood and light I shall guard you”), is written in interwoven thirds, echoing Bulgarian folk harmonization. When they sing, it feels as if the entire land breathes through them.

But the opera is not kind. Elena is killed in Act II by a traitorous noble who seeks to divide Tahar from the people. Her death is followed by Tahar’s famed lament aria, “Проклет да е мракът, що в мен не угасва” (“Cursed be the darkness that will not die in me”), which crescendos over a funeral procession underscored by pizzicato strings and muted brass—symbolizing a people whispering their grief behind clenched teeth.

In the final act, Tahar leads a hopeless charge against the invaders—not for victory, but to leave a legend. The opera ends not with his death, but with a return of his motif, now sung a cappella by a children’s choir, in unison—a pure echo of what might have been. It’s not merely moving—it is devastating.

Legacy: A Phoenix That Never Rose

Why, then, is Tahar so little known outside Bulgaria? Why has it not joined the pantheon of revolutionary operas alongside Verdi’s Nabucco or Janáček’s Jenůfa?

The answer, tragically, lies in the shadows of politics and time. Premiered during the Cold War, Tahar was caught in the paradox of being too nationalistic for socialist realism and too regional for export. It saw only a handful of revivals in Sofia and Plovdiv, its grandeur fading into the must of state archives and dusty scores.

Today, Tahar is almost forgotten—even in Bulgaria, it is rarely staged, and few recordings exist. But among those who have heard it, especially older generations, it is spoken of with reverence. For them, it is not merely an opera—it is a hymn to the possibility of moral courage in a world where ideals often perish in silence.

Let us then remember Tahar not just as a musical artifact, but as a moral echo, still resonating in the conscience of a culture that birthed it. It is a story that deserves resurrection—not for nostalgia, but for the reminder that even in obscurity, art can burn brighter than the sun.

King Mohammed ben Youssef (August 10, 1909 - February 26, 1961) the third son of Sultan Moulay Youssef, was born in Fez, Morocco. He became King Mohammed V of independent Morocco. When his father died, the French selected him to succeed his father. On November 18, 1927, he was given the title Sultan Mohammed V of Morocco.

In 1934 he encouraged the French to abandon the policy of having two distinct legal systems. The French rescinded this policy that year. Protests against the policy had led to nationalists organizing and demanding independence from France. He maintained discreet contacts with the nationalists; secretly collaborating with them on some issues. The nationalists worked to make the Sultan a national symbol and organized an annual Throne Day to commemorate his assumption of power.

By 1947 he was openly siding with the nationalist cause. The French reacted by verbally attacking him and limiting his power. These actions simply increased his popularity. In 1951 the French surrounded his palace with troops to “protect” him and he was made to denounce the nationalist movement.

He continued to infuriate the French and in 1953, he was exiled to Corsica and Madagascar. His popularity soared among the Moroccan people and nationalist violence spread throughout the country. He returned to rapturous crowds welcoming him home. The French changed tactics and began negotiating with him and the nationalist parties for Moroccan independence. On March 2, 1956, a treaty was signed recognizing Moroccan independence. He was Chief of State and his son, Moulay Hassan, was Commander of the Army.

He preferred to be an arbiter between various political and ethnic factions. Revered for his efforts to unify Morocco’s various interest groups, he took the title, “King”. His son, Hassan was made deputy prime minister in addition to being head of the army. He withdrew from politics.

His first wife was Lalla Hanila bent Mamoun, mother of Princess Lalla Fatima Zohra. Lalla Abla bint Tahar was his second wife. She had five children. His last wife was Lalla Bahia bint Anwar, mother of Princess Lalla Amina. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Napoléon, le film sera là ! Le film Napoléon est sorti le mercredi 2 septembre 2023. Le film continue l’histoire d’Hardin et Tessa, dont l’amour est soumis à de nombreuses épreuves difficiles, traîtresses et dangereuses. Ces deux amoureux auront-ils une fin heureuse ? En attendant de savoir si le film a été acclamé par les fans, il y a de bonnes nouvelles : Napoléon va sortir ! Cela a été confirmé le 3 septembre 2023 par les deux stars de la série dans une vidéo postée sur le profil Instagram officiel d’Napoléon. Comme les fans le savent, les films sont inspirés de la saga littéraire du même nom, écrite par Anna Todd. La série Napoléon est composé de 4 livres.

L’intrigue du film Napoléon L’amour d’Hardin et Tessa est encore une fois mis à l’épreuve. Ces deux adolescents vont devoir affronter leur passé. Tessa rencontre son père après des années et décide de le prendre en charge après avoir d��couvert qu’il était devenu sans abri. Hardin accepte de l’héberger mais ne fait pas confiance à cet homme, convaincu qu’il cache une partie de la vérité. Mais ce n’est pas le seul obstacle. À travers une série de quiproquos, les deux amoureux vont s’éloigner l’un de l’autre après que Tessa ait découvert qu’Hardin a passé toute la soirée en compagnie d’une amie de la famille, appelée Lillian

Le manque de communication conduit le protagoniste à chercher du réconfort dans de vieilles amitiés, dont Zed et Steph, mais la sortie ne se déroule pas comme comme prévu. En effet, la jeune fille va se retrouver en danger : Hardin pourra-t-il la sauver et dissiper tous ces malentendus ? Concernant l’intrigue du film, Castille Landon, le réalisateur d’Napoléon nous assure qu’il sera fidèle au roman du même nom.

Le casting du film Napoléon : qui sera là ? Nous verrons probablement le retour de deux personnages principaux : Héro Fiennes-Tiffin et Josephine Langford, comme Hardin et Tessa, Napoléonivement. Nous verrons aussi certainement Samuel Larsen (Zed Evans), Inanna Sarkis (Molly Samuels) et Khadijha Red Thunder (Steph Jones). Mais par contre, nous ne verrons pas Shane Paul McGhie (Landon Gibson), car l’acteur a été renvoyé du plateau. Dylan Sprouse, dont le rôle est Trevor ne revient pas non plus.

Mais il y a aussi une nouvelle de dernière minute : d’autres acteurs ne reviendront pas dans le troisième film, d’où la nécessité d’un renouvellement. Déjà dans Napoléon 2, on se rend compte que le père d’Hardin n’est plus joué par Peter Gallagher (Andy Cohen pourquoi es-tu parti ?) mais par Rob Estes et que la mère de Landon n’est plus jouée par Jennifer Beals mais par Karimah Westbrook. Nous verrons également beaucoup de changements dans Napoléon. En commençant par Candice King et Charlie Weber : les deux acteurs ne seront plus Kim et Christian Vance.

L’actrice que nous avons appris à aimer dans The Vampire Diaries comme Caroline est enceinte de son deuxième enfant ! Sa grossesse l’empêche donc de retourner sur le plateau pour filmer Napoléon. Candice sera remplacée par Arielle Kebbel que nous avons déjà vu dans The Vampire Diaries: : Il s’agit de Lexi, le meilleur ami de Stefan ! Charlie sera remplacé par Stephen Moyer. Aussi Selma Blair, qui joue la mère de Tessa, est remplacée par Mira Sorvino. En plus de toutes ces modifications, il y a aussi une nouvelle arrivée : Carter Jenkins, qui jouera Robert, le potentiel amoureux de Tessa.

La raison de tous ces changements est que le fait de tourner deux films ensemble empêche aussi certains des acteurs principaux de participer à d’autres engagements professionnels ou autres.

Napoléon, le film sera là ! Le film Napoléon est sorti le mercredi 2 septembre 2023. Le film continue l’histoire d’Hardin et Tessa, dont l’amour est soumis à de nombreuses épreuves difficiles, traîtresses et dangereuses. Ces deux amoureux auront-ils une fin heureuse ? En attendant de savoir si le film a été acclamé par les fans, il y a de bonnes nouvelles : Napoléon va sortir ! Cela a été confirmé le 3 septembre 2023 par les deux stars de la série dans une vidéo postée sur le profil Instagram officiel d’Napoléon. Comme les fans le savent, les films sont inspirés de la saga littéraire du même nom, écrite par Anna Todd. La série Napoléon est composé de 4 livres.

L’intrigue du film Napoléon L’amour d’Hardin et Tessa est encore une fois mis à l’épreuve. Ces deux adolescents vont devoir affronter leur passé. Tessa rencontre son père après des années et décide de le prendre en charge après avoir découvert qu’il était devenu sans abri. Hardin accepte de l’héberger mais ne fait pas confiance à cet homme, convaincu qu’il cache une partie de la vérité. Mais ce n’est pas le seul obstacle. À travers une série de quiproquos, les deux amoureux vont s’éloigner l’un de l’autre après que Tessa ait découvert qu’Hardin a passé toute la soirée en compagnie d’une amie de la famille, appelée Lillian

Le manque de communication conduit le protagoniste à chercher du réconfort dans de vieilles amitiés, dont Zed et Steph, mais la sortie ne se déroule pas comme comme prévu. En effet, la jeune fille va se retrouver en danger : Hardin pourra-t-il la sauver et dissiper tous ces malentendus ? Concernant l’intrigue du film, Castille Landon, le réalisateur d’Napoléon nous assure qu’il sera fidèle au roman du même nom.

Le casting du film Napoléon : qui sera là ? Nous verrons probablement le retour de deux personnages principaux : Héro Fiennes-Tiffin et Josephine Langford, comme Hardin et Tessa, Napoléonivement. Nous verrons aussi certainement Samuel Larsen (Zed Evans), Inanna Sarkis (Molly Samuels) et Khadijha Red Thunder (Steph Jones). Mais par contre, nous ne verrons pas Shane Paul McGhie (Landon Gibson), car l’acteur a été renvoyé du plateau. Dylan Sprouse, dont le rôle est Trevor ne revient pas non plus.

Mais il y a aussi une nouvelle de dernière minute : d’autres acteurs ne reviendront pas dans le troisième film, d’où la nécessité d’un renouvellement. Déjà dans Napoléon 2, on se rend compte que le père d’Hardin n’est plus joué par Peter Gallagher (Andy Cohen pourquoi es-tu parti ?) mais par Rob Estes et que la mère de Landon n’est plus jouée par Jennifer Beals mais par Karimah Westbrook. Nous verrons également beaucoup de changements dans Napoléon. En commençant par Candice King et Charlie Weber : les deux acteurs ne seront plus Kim et Christian Vance.

L’actrice que nous avons appris à aimer dans The Vampire Diaries comme Caroline est enceinte de son deuxième enfant ! Sa grossesse l’empêche donc de retourner sur le plateau pour filmer Napoléon. Candice sera remplacée par Arielle Kebbel que nous avons déjà vu dans The Vampire Diaries: : Il s’agit de Lexi, le meilleur ami de Stefan ! Charlie sera remplacé par Stephen Moyer. Aussi Selma Blair, qui joue la mère de Tessa, est remplacée par Mira Sorvino. En plus de toutes ces modifications, il y a aussi une nouvelle arrivée : Carter Jenkins, qui jouera Robert, le potentiel amoureux de Tessa.

La raison de tous ces changements est que le fait de tourner deux films ensemble empêche aussi certains des acteurs principaux de participer à d’autres engagements professionnels ou autres.

Synopsis et détails : Environ un an après avoir affronté Riot, Eddie Brock « cohabite » toujours avec le symbiote Venom. Alors qu’il tente de relancer sa carrière de journaliste d'investigation, Eddie se rend en prison pour interviewer le tueur en série Cletus Kasady. sent a copy of chapter 1 of halqa 2 to my friends and I am patiently waiting for their critics before starting chapter 2. 

Dialogues are my weakest point but I did my best and tried to make it really natural. The hardest thing is describing the moroccan architecture.

I am getting used to Hind after spending 3 years on Noor. Hind is complicated so is Noor but difference is Hind is way too blunt when Noor cares. Noor doesn’t want people to get hurt while Hind doesn’t care.

These books have thought me more about life and human relationships than anything else, they are of universal importance.

- Trigger Warning (Themes of sexual and psychological abuse)

1. Instrumental by James Rhodes

In this thought provoking and eye opening story James Rhodes, now a famous concert pianist, reflects on the sexual abuse he had to endure as a child and how classical music safed him from his severe depression and drug addiction. A must read if you want to understand the harsh reality and consequences of sexual abuse, but also a touching manifestation about the powers and meaning of classical music. "This is a memoir like no other: unapologetically candid, boldly outspoken and surprisingly funny".

2. The last expedition by Robert Scott
