ACME Autumn day 2, things were a little quieter today so I was able to grab some sillier pictures and a lot more cosplayers. Was wonderful seeing everyone's outfits, art and skits. It's something I look forwards to every year and this weekend didnt disappoint! A lot of different fandoms all having a fun time together (and some VERY confused people from the medical conference happening next door). If you recognise any cosplayers from these photos please do tag them! Lots more photos under the cut and a little special mention at the end.

And now for a little aside, in the far-off time of 2022, I attended ACME Autumn with the Regimental Standard's first public outing. We set it up in a corner and let people take photos of us/it in the background. We often make little bits and pieces to hand out to youths and 40k fans, just as a little silly back and forth to help perhaps make the former not quite so scared of the scary masked men and as a fun little keepsake on top of the costuming talk and banter. That year we made some conscription notices from the Uplifting Primer and told those we gave them to that they were to collect a uniform and report to their nearest commissar upon completion. Little did I suspect that anyone would actually do it.

I am frankly overjoyed to show off a sucessful conscript to the Death Korps of Krieg! He told me how much I had inspired him (I'm still reeling from this) on our first meeting and conversation and how much he enjoyed seeing me in the Warhammer Fest lineup the year after, during which he was halfway done with his costume. He had remembered my advice about the coat and had bought the exact kind I mentioned as being very close to the model, he had made his own mask, helmet, pack, bedroll and grenades. He had even bought an actual surplus entrenching tool (though sadly this was refused entry at the door, sometimes security gets very strict with props). He then floored me mentally by asking me for an autograph. Me. Like I was somebody famous or important. I, surely shocking no-one in the audience, have a very poor opinion of myself. I do not consider myself to be worth much. But clearly my actions had counted. Of course I grabbed a pen and signed the requested item (a frag grenade, how very fitting) and tried very hard to come to terms with the reality of what just happened without seeming like a babbling fool. I have yet to fully internalise it. If somehow you see this, little Krieger, thank you for being you. I am certainly VERY proud of your fantastic work and you should be too. I greatly look forwards to seeing how you progress from meeting to meeting and wish you every success in your endeavours. I see you, your actions count and always will. If someone, somehow knows this lad I would implore you to get the above message to him if possible, because I dont know if I communicated how touched I was in the moment and I would like him to know.

First of all, Jumin appreciates your being more on the quiet side. The man’s not a loud person himself, and prefers to be around people similar to him, so that fact about you doesn’t take long to take a jab at his interest. While he’s stubborn, and takes a bit to warm up to others, he isn’t displeased when he finds himself growing fond of you. In fact, after having it pointed out by some of the RFA, Jumin realizes that it’s quite the opposite. He’s glad? The Jumin Han, glad to make a friend…? Despite the teasing from the others in the RFA, it’s true. It’s good that you’re open-minded, because Jumin can be rather unfaltering in what he believes. He wouldn’t pester you to think the same thing as him, but it’s entirely possible that he brings up his thoughts as if they’re fact more often than not. Now, Jumin never minded if you were mean. He himself can be blunt and rude at times, and his emotions aren’t sensitive. He’s coolheaded, and typically can shrug any mean comments or actions off. While he may not get along with many egotistical people (our fine example being Zen) he will find a way to get used to you. While he may not be the world’s greatest hypeman, he will try to boost your ego in, typically, subtle ways. He enjoys complimenting you, buying you things, and trying to make you feel like the loveliest girl in the world, and won’t mind if you don’t argue with it. He lucked out with someone who has a good sense of humor, because he makes jokes somewhat often, but they’re never, you know… funny-. Laugh at his jokes, or at least react positively, and he will feel a bit proud of himself. Well, he’d feel proud of his joke no matter what, but making you smile is one of the greatest achievements in his book. Jumin isn’t a lazy person, but I don’t think he’ll particularly care if you are. Want to stay home all day? Don’t want to work? Yeah, ok, you’re covered. Food will be prepared for you no matter what, Driver Kim can take you wherever, and he’s got people who can do all the shopping, cleaning, and such. Unless you feel motivated to do those things, he’s got you entirely covered. While Jumin will have things covered for you, he’s not going to let you get past with every little thing. Not to say he wouldn’t like to, he just wants to make sure you stay healthy and happy. He reminds you of the important things you may forget, and will make sure that you get them done, even if it means he should help you. In fact, he’s more than willing to help you. I’m pretty sure Jumin says that he works out as he should, and so he’ll convince you to tag along with him. Not only does it make him feel a bit more motivated, but it lets him have the reassurance that you’re being taken care of as well. I’m not sure if it’s ever said, but I personally headcanon Jumin as someone who doesn’t have an opinion on kids. He isn’t particularly fond of them, wouldn’t mind having one should his s/o want one, but is completely fine without them should his s/o not want one. Jumin is perfectly content having cats instead of kids, and can only hope you feel the same, because… I don’t think this man could survive without his Elizabeth the Third. Also, though he is busy, and works a lot, he still makes sure to spend time with you. He tries not to stay at work too late so that the two of you can eat dinner together, and, on the weekends, expect to be taken to fancy restaurants. He also really enjoys taking you shopping. This man just loves spoiling you <3

 For Haikyuu, I feel like Tsukishima Kei is a good match for you!

To be honest, after getting to know you, you can be like a breath of fresh air for Tsukki. He’s surrounded by loud, energetic people for a lot of the day, so he enjoys your company. The two of you probably ended up being friends, eventually more, because of a group project or something, and he just… never removed your number from his contacts list. If you like volleyball, he probably used seeing you at a game as an excuse to keep contacting you. As implied by Tsukki getting annoyed by the loud, energetic people, he really likes that you’re quieter. While he’s not too noisy himself, if the both of you are feeling quiet, he’ll turn on a playlist the two of you share and the both of you can do your own things. Times like those are more relaxing than Tsukki would ever admit, but he secretly hopes that you think the same. Should it be you, him, and Yamaguchi, it’s probably more likely that there’s conversation going on, but Tsukishima still enjoys having your playlist going in the background. Mean and egotistical are both words commonly used to describe Tsukishima himself. Though he’s arrogant on the outside, he’s still self-conscious. However, he doesn’t always mind your big ego. Sure, he’ll tease you for it, but you won’t catch him actually trying to lower your ego. Plus, he likes when you’re mean. I see Tsukishima as the type to enjoy playful banter, and he also enjoys being able to trash others with you. If you use an especially creative and/or pointed insult to someone who deserves it, his smirk will definitely grow and he’ll probably glance at you proudly. The biggest thing Tsukishima would have to get used to in the relationship is laziness. While I can see him getting used to it, as he isn’t as energetic or motivated as a lot of his teammates, it takes him a bit longer to. He also grows to learn to remind you of important things. Expect him to tease, and occasionally nag, about that. He won’t take it too far though, and finds himself setting reminders on both of your phones to ensure that you don’t forget things that are too important. Should you need his help with something like that, he’ll pretend to be annoyed, but will help you nonetheless. Tsukishima is kind of relieved when he finds out that you don’t like kids. While he doesn’t want to rush the relationship and would avoid talks of kids or marriage so that he didn’t make you feel uncomfortable, or make the two of you feel like you should rush things, he’s never been fond of children. He has to deal with the childishness of his teammates enough to know that he couldn’t handle an actual child. Also, while he tries to do so discreetly and without actually saying it’s a date, he really enjoys spending time with you. Even if it’s just listening to music and sitting around, or going to the theatres (or heck, even just the others’ house) to watch a movie, he’s pretty content having you in his life. Though, of course, it’ll take him forever to actually admit that <3

- so those of you who have read my one furuba fic (hey read my furuba fic) know that i kinda have some hcs for kimi’s family life? summarized: bio mom left when she was a kid bc her dad was cheating; she has a step mom, dad still cheats and the step mom knows about it but is okay with it as long as the dad tells her she’s his favorite; step mom and kimi have this passive aggressive relationship where they’re both trying to prove they’re the dad’s favorite, meanwhile dad’s a gaslighting piece of crap. anyway in this au, step mom and kimi get into a fight and step mom tries to kick her out, which only works bc kimi got fed up and decided to leave anyway (dad wasn’t around at the time, or he would’ve tried to calm things down prolly). kimi stubbornly ends up living in a tent bc she’s way too proud to ask anyone for help (and she doesn’t have many friends), shigure and yuki find her, etc etc etc

- tohru DOES exist, but her grandfather’s health issues aren’t as severe, so she stays living with him in ignorance of the sohma family curse. the whole drama w kyo and kyoko and everything still happened with her, and the kyoru is like kind of a side story happening in the background (with some shenanigans about whether or not tohru found out about the curse somehow maybe) but it’s KIMI TIME in this au

- i feel like it’s really important to mention that kimi’s first instinct, when shigure yuki and kyo turned into animals in front of her for the first time, was to whip out her phone and vague tweet ‘sohma yuki is a RAT!!!!’ she gets sworn to secrecy by the sohmas right after, but the talk of the school the next day is ‘what the hell did the prince do to get called out by kimi???’ she gets ‘harassed’ by the prince yuki club about ‘besmirching the prince’s good name,’ which obviously turns into kimi harassing the prince yuki club right back (i imagine she plays the whole thing off as a ‘lovers’ momentary spat,’ from which they ‘worked out and made up very quickly and enthusiastically o3-’)

- kimi still isn’t in yuki and kyo’s class! she’s also much, MUCH more difficult for either of them to deal with, and weirdly, yuki and kyo sort of.... end up spending a lot more time together than they do in canon? they kind of come to a truce of ‘kimi and shigure are way too difficult to deal with,’ at least at home, and they don’t have a tohru buffer to lean on this time. kimi has like. next to no interest in yuki or kyo, so honestly their relationships dont develop that much. HOWEVER, when she meets kagura and the prince yuki club (and any time she interacts with them), she tends to hang ALL OVER kyo or yuki with the specific intent of pissing off the girls, because she really likes to start shit like that

- kimi’s a business oriented girl. she wants SHIGURE to be her SUGAR DADDY. shigure joked along with her flirting at first, but quickly realized that she might actually be serious, so now he’s kind of afraid of her??? in that, he avoids being caught alone in a room with her and will occasionally beg kyo or yuki to help him (they never do--shigure deserves the harassment).

- kyo and yuki don’t have a big three dynamic with kimi the way they do in canon with tohru. you know who are the other two to kimi’s big three??? MOMIJI AND HARU. momiji is DELIGHTED by kimi, and the two of them co-conspire often in all sorts of things. they plan family trips, prank other sohmas, and gossip like NOBODIES business. kimi and haru, on the other hand, both have a certain ‘unstoppable chaotic force’ energy, and they get along quite well too. the three of them being so close helps a lot with filling in the gaps where kimi doesn’t quite fit the shoes of being a kind, loving heroine like tohru; kimi has the force of personality to point out when the sohmas and their family situations are being ridiculous, and momiji and haru are kind and loving enough to provide comfort and support to a lot of the family.

- yuki at whatever point in the story: i think... i should accept the offer to be the student council president. it’d be good for my character development and self confidence and whatever. / kimi from the next room over: YUN! omg we can spend so much more time together now! takei asked me to join the student council as a secretary JUST this morning :))

- kimi and kakeru are friends at the beginning of the story! kimi has a crush on him and he’s a) oblivious and a dick about it and b) gay (my au my rules it’s fuckin endgame yukeru in this bitch. komaki is his beard and she’s fully aware of that lahfkdsjflkdshfksdjflkds). kimi HATES that she has a crush on this wimpy eboy and and it’s a point of tension between them :)) especially once yukeru endgame starts being more and more obvious

- at the beginning of the story, kimi...... doesnt take momiji seriously as a potential romantic partner. big big part of her arc is recognizing that the tall, traditionally attractive boys arent always the best romantic options, though, and she does eventually start to fall for him :)) and THEN he grows like eight inches in a month and she starts calling him an investment lahfkdsjfksdhjfdshfksjlkfsjl

- the beach akito/kimi/momiji confrontation is CHARGED because MOMIJI is there and he’s in DANGER and kimi gets fuckin PISSED because that’s HER friend, her boy, her ONE. akito talks shit and kimi talks fuckin shit back and they get in a full on catfight. they’re screaming at each other, clawing at each other. kureno has to physically pull akito away; kimi only doesnt chase after them because momiji is hurt. this is a major moment in kimi’s slow realization of her feelings for momiji :))

- kimi and rin, once rin makes up with haru and is able to relax a little, become a seething, curse fighting TEAM. on the other hand..... the argument of ‘the curse WILL break, eventually’ ends up working on kimi, even though she feels strange about it. she cares about kyo, to an extent, but it’s a lot easier for her to give up on him than it was for tohru in canon, for obvious reasons.

- when his curse breaks, momiji has someone to tell :,))

- tohru visits shigure’s house one morning to tell kyo about her feelings. akito stabs kureno, runs to shigure’s house, and has a conversation with tohru (who she has never met before lahfdlsfjdskfjdfksl) screaming about ‘oh are you some bitch here to confess to kyo?? guess fuckin WHAT he belongs to me, to us, he’s getting locked up in the spring, fuck you’ but uhh tohru has had a lot of offscreen development and whatnot and she ends up getting thru to akki. and then she falls off a fuckin cliff lhfkdsjfkdsjflksjfdlks you know how the story goes. anyway kimi had spent the night at momiji’s house and comes back to the WEIRDEST mood layfldskdsjfieuwfjkdskhggkdasjflkdsjlkjflkds

- oh and for good measure: uo goes to college instead of following kureno, akki and shigure get couple therapy. yukeru are gay, momiji and kimi live happily ever after. the end :))

3. I know i have to 'get out there' but it's hard when you've felt your whole life that nobody likes you. i literally only have one friend. i just feel really hopeless... i feel like im not meant for this kind of life, everything feels wrong and like im waiting for something's never gonna come, some kinda magic. i want of life of adventure and paint and write but instead i have to study because i'd feel like a loser w/o an education. i dont mind working i just dont want to study.

hey love, i'm really sorry to hear that. i think it's totally normal to be disappointed and even more so to be unsure about your future - it's not an indicator of failure, it's a natural part of growing up and finding your place in the world. i'm probably ignorant and don't know what it's like to actually be in your shoes, so i apologize if i come across as frustrating at some points. this is just my perspective. but i'm wondering if maybe taking more time away is an option for you? maybe working somewhere, focusing on your mental health for a while.... because the thing is your level of education has nothing to do with your worth as a person, and even more than that, there's no set time scale for this sort of thing. you could go back to college at 35, and it wouldn't matter. your life doesn't have to follow that stereotypical linear trajectory we're all forced to chase, in order for you to find happiness and success. and you don't have to justify your own personal choices to anyone, least of all to yourself. i just think it's important to try to focus on the factors of living that are in your control, that will bring you a sense of stability and peace. i know it's hard to let go of the internalised capitalistic idea of having to prove yourself through academia and getting a 'good job', but it's always useful to remind yourself of just how exploitative and made up that entire construct is. you're here and you're experiencing the world and with that you are fulfilling your point, you are doing enough. you are enough. everything else is background noise, that we're forced to muddle through, but background noise nonetheless. you don't need anyone's permission to prioritize your own needs and wants.

however, if you're dead set on studying this topic you don't like (which, i totally understand why you'd make that choice bc i know it's not that simple), then i reckon it's alright to just let yourself feel shitty for a while. any sadness, anger, disappointment, pain you feel about it is to be expected - and even though it fuckin sucks to have to carry it, its intensity definitely won't last. one way or another, you will adapt and so will your ability to cope. just don't use those emotions as an excuse to engage in self destructive behaviour, cause that'll only perpetuate the cycle and keep you in a dark place. having to force ourselves to do shit we hate is always going to feel like an everlasting burden we're never going to escape from, even if that's not the case in reality. and i had a lot of experience with that in school too - the main tactic i can remember making a difference, was like you said, finding little things to make the weight of it more bearable. i think that often starts first and foremost with our own mental health before anything else, because it controls the filter through which we see the world. if you don't like it in yourself you won't like it anywhere. when it comes to your social anxiety, are you receiving any support/would you be open to that? i think consistently seeing someone while you're in school - whether that's a counselor, a therapist, attending a support group or even just calling a hotline to begin with - could really help you manage the stress you're so afraid is waiting for you. having someone to talk to and learning why you are the way you are, and what tools could help you specifically in terms of coping mechanisms and finding a support network can honestly do wonders for your self esteem and the way you approach others. and of course it takes time, maybe that brand of self care is a lifelong process, but it's still important to engage with it. so balancing school with prioritizing your own wellbeing might be something that lightens the weight of the experience. anxiety tends to have us anticipating worst case scenarios and drawing on old insecurities to convince us we'll be alone and in pain forever, but what you've been through is truly not a mirror image of where you're going. making friends especially as an adult is fuckin hard, and struggling with it doesn't mean there's something irreparably wrong with you. just means it's hard to get to know ppl, but that's not a personal failing on your part. it's just a fact. most of them are too worried about their own 'flaws' to take note of yours. but that doesn't mean there aren't ppl out there you haven't met yet who will love you, even if that's hard to believe rn. also a side note, it could be a good idea to build up a routine where you're engaging in something that actively makes you happy at least a few times a week. can literally just be watching netflix, or taking up a hobby, meditating, going for a walk - i know college is v busy and it may not always be possible, but having small pockets of deliberate down time to look forward to is crucial. im not saying it'll cure everything or anything, just that it might make it all feel less overwhelming. but lastly, i want to say that it's ok if you give it a go and then decide you can't do it. that's an option, too. it doesn't have to be black and white. don't fault yourself for not wanting to spend 3 years doing something you hate, but also know that it's possible to get through it if it's a means to an end for you, especially if you seek the help you need. and whichever choice you go with, neither of them are 'wrong.' it's just your path.

anyway, i'm sorry this got super long. i think discussing it with someone you trust might be a good move, just to know that they have your back whether you work through uni or not. you're honestly doing so much better than you realize and i'm proud of you for continuing to try and strive despite how painful it all is. but i really hope that you can catch yourself when your brain is being unnecessarily unkind to you, and that you can then make the conscious choice to change the narrative and approach it from a place of patience and self appreciation. i think your life is still worth living even if it doesn't match up to where you think you should be, which is something i've been trying to accept lately too. that so much is beyond our control and we can literally only focus on the silver linings of the factors that are in our hands. that we can still be okay, living like that. and none of this is permanent, not the way it often seems like it is, but especially not the confusion. it just takes time to live the answers to all the existential questions you have. take it a day at a time. now i wont lie, this year started off amazing! new friends, new start, hell i got my laptop and was able to be on more. this year became pretty bumpy though through the middle, but hey, i made it!

@elementalgod-aj - okay, first tumblr friend, introduced me to a lot of people i know now on here, got me into roleplaying and refused to let me give up on art. this guy, is solely responsible for me sticking around this hellsite when i thought about quitting a long time ago. He’s very talented, has sooo many amazing ocs you have to dig a bit to really get information on some of them, really fun to talk to as well! I might have a few personal favorites with his ocs but i love them all;3 he makes it worth your nickle talking to him, its rare he doesnt have anything to say and when you need someone to talk to he is willing to listen

With each page turn, you feel a little bit of your sanity leave you.

You’ve been cooped up in your dorm for the past week, studying for the absolute hell that is finals week. You’re running on four hours of sleep and hell of a lot of caffeine. Day and night have just been blending together and you genuinely have no concept of time anymore. Your roommate has been staying with her boyfriend more often, which leaves you and your misery all alone with no one to vent to.

This must be what solitary confinement feels like, you think to yourself.

Once you read the same sentence for the tenth time in a row, you finally give up and slam your anatomy textbook closed. It’s only 11:20 PM, so you decide to go out for some fresh air. Just the thought of being in this room any longer makes you feel suffocated.  

You don’t bother changing out of your sweatpants and t-shirt, simply throwing a light jacket over it. You’re not sure when you last washed your hair so you tease it up into a ponytail. Shooting your roommate a quick text (though you’re pretty sure she’s not going to see it), you grab your wallet and keys and head out. 

The night air feels cool when it hits you and you close your eyes, relishing the breeze. You begin to wander aimlessly around the neighborhood, trying to procrastinate going back as much as possible. After a while, you eventually stop in front of a bar. 

You aren’t much of a drinker because you really don’t have the time to be one. When you do drink once in a blue moon, it’s usually with your roommate on the floor of your room. Just once, you’d like to have that experience of getting blackout drunk at a bar and dealing with a nasty hangover instead of blacking out after pulling an all-nighter studying and dealing with staying awake in your 8 AM chemistry class.

Squaring your shoulders and straightening your back, you confidently push open the doors and walk in. You expect a loud club-like scene with a bunch of people dancing on top of each other, but that’s not what you get at all. The place is low-lit with jazzy music playing, and there’s barely any people here. Instead of a dance floor, there’s a big pool table in the middle of the room. The bar is all the way in the back, and you awkwardly navigate past a tipsy couple playing pool to get to it.

There’s only one person sitting at the bar, an elderly man wearing a suit. He’s chatting jovially with the bartender, swirling the drink in his hand around. You can tell by the way they’re talking that they are very comfortable with each other, and you almost feel a little bad for intruding. The bartender hears you approaching and looks up. You nearly trip over your own feet when you make eye contact with him.

He’s so good-looking that you’re honestly a little intimidated. Dark, messy hair that falls into his eyes, features that are on par with any model, and looks damn good in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. You kind of just want to run away, but he’s already seen you so it’s too late.

“What can I get you?” he asks, smiling politely. His nametag reads Xiaojun.

You sigh, shrugging. “Something that’ll make me forget, or take off my pants.” 

Xiaojun stares at you, clearly not expecting that answer. The elderly man laughs, a big belly laugh that makes you involuntarily smile. “Darlin’, that would be tequila.”

“Then I’ll have that,” you nod. 

“First time here?” Xiaojun asks, shooting a stern glance at the elderly man.

“How could you tell?” you joke.

“Just a hunch,” he chuckles, “anyways, I don’t think tequila is what beginners should start with.”

“I’ll drink whatever you give me. I just want to get drunk,” you respond, shrugging.

“Rough night?” Xiaojun looks up at you as he begins to make your drink.

“You could say that,” you sigh again, propping your face up on the counter top with your palm.

“I’m all ears if you want to talk about it, um…” 

“Y/N,” you supply, “and thanks. I’m sure I’ll go on some drunken tirade anyways, so be prepared.”

The elderly man is quiet as the two of you chat, a knowing smile across his face. He finishes the rest of his drink before clearing his throat, taking his brief case from the seat beside him. Placing some bills on the counter top, he says, “Anyways, I gotta get going. The missus is waiting for me back home.” 

“So soon?” Xiaojun asks, surprised.

“Yup,” he replies, “I’ll see you later, Xiaojun.” 

“Alright, be careful.” 

The man turns to leave and you wave him goodbye. He winks at you as he gets out of his seat, and you’re confused as to why but you smile at him anyway.

“Here’s your drink,” Xiaojun says, setting a glass in front of you. 

The concoction is red at the very bottom before it turns light pink at the top, like an ombré effect. You can’t help but marvel at how beautiful it is (just like him). 

“Wow,” you breathe, “it’s so pretty.” 

“It’s called Love Affair,” he explains, before turning red and immediately beginning to splutter. “U-Um, the name is weird but it’s my favorite drink, so uh…”

“Thank you,” you say, smiling at how flustered he is. You bring the glass to your lips and take a sip. It burns slightly, but you don’t particularly hate the feeling. It’s tangy, like a citrus fruit but also a little sweet. 

“How is it?” Xiaojun asks, a touch of anxiousness in his expression. 

“I like it,” you say, drinking more. 

“I’m glad,” he beams, looking both relieved and proud. 

It doesn’t take you long to finish it, and he makes you some of his other favorites. You feel the buzz get progressively stronger, and it’s only a matter of time before you’re drunk. Xiaojun can tell too because the drinks he gives you becomes more and more diluted with each glass. He’s in the middle of making your fifth drink when the rational part of your brain finally logs out.

“Do you ever feel like giving up and just becoming a homeless person for the rest of your life?” you ask, slightly slurring. 

Xiaojun looks up, amused. Your face is flushed and your hands are on your warm cheeks as you just barely manage to prop yourself up. Whether it’s intentional or not, you’re slightly swaying back and forth to the background music. You look absolutely adorable and he feels his heart rate quicken. 

“Actually, I have,” he says truthfully. “Why?”

“Well, I currently feel like that right about now,” you confess, “and it sucks.” 

“Did something particular happen?” he asks gently. 

“I’m a med student,” you explain, “and finals are coming up. I’ve been studying nonstop, but it feels like nothing is sticking. It’s just―so much is banking on these exams and I don’t know what I’m gonna do if I fail. How on Earth am I gonna pay back my student loans? What if I become one of those losers that live in their parents’ basement because they can’t get a job? What if I become a beggar on the side of the streets?” 

You don’t realize you’re crying until Xiaojun gently dabs your tears away with a napkin. You’re embarrassed but not nearly as much as you would be if you were sober. Sniffling, you try to apologize but he doesn’t let you. 

“Look at me,” he says gently, cupping your face with his hands and slightly squishing your cheeks together. His hands feel cool against your skin. “I’ve felt exactly the same before, but you know what? It’ll pass. Don’t freak yourself out. Study hard like you have been, and you will do just fine. Make sure to take breaks too. Oh, and don’t go to bars during the middle of exam season either.”

You laugh, slightly leaning into his touch. Xiaojun looks down at your lips, and for a moment, you think he’s going to kiss you before he steps back and takes his hands away from your face. You pout as he does. 

“Right,” his voice cracks and he clears his throat, “you’ve had enough drinks. I’ll call you a cab, so go home.” 

You whine, but he’s not having it. Once you realize your sulking isn’t going to work, you huff loudly and fish out your wallet. “How much do I owe you?” 

“Nothing,” he replies, “it’s on the house. As a good luck to your exams.”

You smile at him. “You’re very sweet, Xiaojun.”

He rolls his eyes, but there’s a pink tinge to his cheeks. You try to get up, but your legs feel like jelly, and you fall back into your seat again. Xiaojun immediately is at your side, wrapping your arm around his shoulders as he helps you leave. He manages to get a cab within minutes and even shoves some money in your hands for the fare. 

“For more good luck,” he says, grinning. 

You want him to kiss you so badly that you blurt, “Kiss me. For even more good luck.

Xiaojun’s eyes widen, and it’s cute, but his response is less so. “I can’t. You’re drunk.” 

Damn him for being a gentleman. 

“But…maybe tomorrow,” he promises, brushing his thumb across your cheek.

The cab driver honks, and Xiaojun quickly ushers you in the car. He waves at you as you drive away. When you can no longer see him anymore, you let out the breath you’ve been holding and lean back. You can’t tell if your face is warm from the alcohol or something else.

SE MCs background chapter 10: Abandoned

Abuse is mentioned. It’s not very graphic (or well to me it isn’t because I suck at writing) but it is still mentioned. This chapter is bad at explaining what I had in my head. So, at the end of the chapter, I will explain everything that was supposed to happen, but my writing probably couldn’t explain it well. But enjoy this I guess?? Everything will be explained at the end and honestly it’s probably better than the writing. But anyway enjoy?

It started off a a normal relationship. Everything was great. Oliver would protect her and make her happy. He would take her out, buy her nice things, and love her. She would do the same too. He even got into her family members hearts. Her dad was proud to see her with a man like Oliver and her siblings began to become friends with him too. It was all...perfect. However, it’s like everyone says. If it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t. He started to change. He began to spend less time with her. He began to become too rough to her.

“Where are you going? We had plans for tonight!” Sarah shouted at him. “Well, cancel them! I’m going out with my friends,” he snapped back at her. His pink eyes glowed at her and she shut her mouth. Sarah was not one to back down, but whatever he did made her fearful and back down. This went on for some time. One time, it went way too far.

She grabbed his wrist when they were arguing and she couldn’t remember what happened next very well. She couldn’t really recall what they were arguing over either. Her memory was a bit messed up after this. He then grabbed her wrist with his other hand and he pushed her to the ground. However, there was a glass coffee table behind her and she fell on top of it causing it to break. Her head had multiple cuts but none of the glass got caught in her head or other parts of her body. He gasped and even felt bad. He didn’t mean for the coffee table to break. He helped her up and checked her for any wounds and took her to the hospital to make sure. He may have been angry, but he didn’t want her to die.

She turned out fine and he treated her right for the next few days. Obviously, her family began to not trust him. They wanted her to spend less time with him and get distant from him. However, she couldn’t stop. She felt truly in love with him. She stayed around him and went through all the abuse. She wore makeup to hide her bruises and cuts from people. She even hid it from her family. She felt that this was wrong and she felt guilty doing this, but she didn’t want him to get in trouble. She loved him. However, sometimes her family noticed her behavior.

How she would never really want him to come around, how she became weary around him, and how she began to seem...emotionless. When he wasn’t around, she acted happy, but almost everyone she wasn’t. She wasn’t too attached but she always defended him, saying that they didn’t know him like she did, but when she was alone, she doubted everything. It was like she was out of a daze. She hated him. She really did. She tried to end it many times, but he would look at her and she couldn’t go through with it. Her heart was filled with love when he looked at her. It was weird. His eyes glowed and it always happened. She just shook it off everytime and never addressed it. She knew if she did then he would become angry and do something terrible. Whenever she was drunk, he would use her. Use her body. She got drunk often, too often. She told her family that she just wanted to forget everything that was happening. When they asked her to explain, she just joked it off as her being way to drunk. However, she was trying to forget it all. Even if it was just for a few hours or minutes.

She came home one time. He was sitting on her bed. He would come over sometimes and he would stay the night. She began to hate those nights and always tried to make him not come over. But when she told him not to come, he would get angry at her. She would eventually just let him do whatever he wanted. Her first time was with him. She swore that his eyes glowed and she instantly gave in to him. When she woke up, she remembered what she did and began to cry. She didn’t want to give her virginity to him. But it felt like she was forced to. He told her while he was undressing her, “You dont want to disappont me right? You know I love you, right?” He always said those things and made her feel so guilty. It felt like the love was forced, and when she was alone she felt free of that love. She...hated him. But she couldn’t do anything. He always threatened her and told her how he was stronger than her. She put on a mask whenever she was with her family. Even with Zed.

Zed knew something was wrong. He always knew it. So did Christopher, her twin. They always tried to comfort her and make her tell, but she always said, “no, I’m okay! Really, I promise!” They knew she was lying, but they didn’t want to pressure her. This continued for so long. Soon, she began to become his toy. She did whatever he wanted and when asked why she said,

“If I do everything for him, won’t the man I love come back?”

She believed it was her fault that he was like this. Zed got angry and threatened him and almost beat his ass, but Sarah caught him and told him to stop. Zed hated seeing the anger and sadness in her eyes, so he stopped. They always stopped.

However, one night it all changed for her. They had just gotten out of an argument and she was home alone. Her parents were at work and her siblings were at work as well. Zed was with some friends. She was trying to cool off and tell herself that she loved him. Even when she was alone, she couldn’t deny that she did feel some feelings for him. But it wasn’t as strong as it was when she was with him. She was laying down watching tv in the living room to cool off, when she heard something break. It was her window from her bedroom. She ran and tried to hide somewhere. However, her house didn’t have good hiding spots. It’s why they almost never played hide and seek in the house. Before she could run, she felt someone behind her and she turned around and saw the same blonde man Oliver was talking to when they met.

She was going to ask what he wanted, but he put a napkin over her mouth and she began to become dizzy and her world slowly became black. She thought she was going to die before she passed out.

She didn’t know how long she was out for, but she eventually woke up on a cold, hard ground. It seemed like a basement. However, when she looked up, she saw bars. She stood up and looked around. She was in a cage. She ran to the bars and shook them. The spaces between them were too small for her to slip through. She was trapped. “Help!” She shouted. “No one is coming for us,” someone behind her said. She saw a monster. He looked like a fish man and she became terrified. “I know. You’re not used to our looks. But it won’t matter, you won’t remember it one day,” the man said to her. She became confused. How would she not remember a fish man?? Most importantly, how was this possible??

“You’re in a new world. Somewhere where you should not have been able to come too. However, thanks to Virgil, we’re all stuck here.” She saw the sadness in his eyes. She felt bad but before she could reply to him, she heard a door close. It was really loud. She could see stairs diagonally in front of her. They were far away though. She even saw more cages around her. It was like a prison. She heard the footsteps come down the stairs, and she saw the blonde man. “That’s Virgil,” the man whispered. He finally came down and he looked right at her. The man behind her backed up, it seemed like he was trying to hide from him. “What do you want?” She shouted at him. She knew it wasn’t a good idea to yell at her kidnapper, but it didn’t matter. She was hella angry.

He slipped his finger between the bar and lifted her chin up. “You are weak. I wanted to sell you.” He let her go and walked to other cages. ‘Sell me?’ She thought. That was the quickest conversation ever. She continued to call out to him, but he ignored her. She soon heard the door slam once again and her another set of footprints. The man was far down the hall and Sarah couldn’t see him anymore. However, she heard him shout the words that broke her. “Oliver! How good it is to see you here.” Oliver came down and he looked at her. His face was blank and it seemed like he had no emotion when he looked at her.

She felt betrayed. This was the same man that held her so long ago and looked at her like she was his world. ‘Was this why he became distant?’ She wondered. She felt like crying, but she couldn’t. She couldn’t lose her cool and seem weak in a state like this. “Oliver! Help me!” She whispered-shouted to him. He walked closer to her, but instead of getting in front of her, he walked down the hallway away from her. Her heart broke. He...he did this on purpose. He let her get hurt. She slowly fell to her knees. Her family didn’t know where she was, they didn’t know if she was okay, and she didn’t know these people. She was alone.

She was abandoned.

Okay so. This is what really happened in my head, but I couldn’t write it very well. This is how it happens in order and it contains feelings of Sarah too.

Sarah and Oliver were together for awhile. It was all good and happy. They would go out and just, well, be a couple. However, it was too good to be true.

Oliver began to become distant to her. He became rude to her, and yes, he did make her fall back on a glass table. However, it truly was an accident.

He began to kind of control her. I’ve assumed that charm magic (it’s what kind of magician he is spoiler lol) can make someone be in love and kind of control them. He began to make her only care for him and be around him.

However, Sarah was strong (if it wasn’t obvious bc I mean...she brought back Zosk djwnwb) and she fought him off sometimes. His charm wouldn’t work sometimes, so he always had to use a lot of energy in making her obey. Her family noticed it, but they didn’t know what to do. There was no true proof that he was a magician of any sort, and if they brought it up, they would expose themselves and they couldn’t risk it.

They did care for her and wanted to risk it, but there was no proof yet of him using his magic at all. So, it continued. He even made her not tell them. He threatened to hurt her and her family. She wanted to bring up his eyes glowing (she always noticed it), but she didn’t want him to get angry, as he would either beat her, yell at her, or just threaten her. It scared her to keep her mouth quiet.

But she did love him. It seems so weird to put this out there and it seems like a lie but she did love him. He didn’t force all of the love, he just made it speed up. You know how you go on multiple dates before you date someone and say you love them? Well, no. He sped it up by making her realize her feelings (and making them stronger) by using his charm magic. It was unfair but it’s what he did. So, she did love him, but sometimes her feelings were fake.

She would sometimes break out of it and hate him. It’s why they argued. When she was under his control she always agreed with him and did whatever he wanted, but when she was alone, she hated him and would cry about what he did.

She even did blame herself. She thought she messed up somewhere and made him hate her. It’s why she said “I thought it I did everything he wanted, then the man I loved would come back”.

Yes. He did rape her. Like I said in the story, he basically manipulated her and used his charm to make her want to give her virginity to him. I consider that as rape. It was so unfair but he did use it. He was abusing his magic a lot. Like I said, this story is fucked up, but I don’t know how to write it out properly.

One day they were in an argument and she was home alone. She hated him and was mad at him, but she tried to calm down. It worked for awhile and she began to watch TV. She then did hear someone break a window and kidnap her.

She woke up in a basement and she was in a place with a fish man. It’s like the fish man that’s in Zains route. The one that’s gay (that’s the only way Ik how to describe him) dkwnnw. He looks like that but it’s not the same person.

The man comes down to the basement and he basically doesn’t give her information about why he has her. He just told her that sentence and how he wants to “sell her”. It’ll be explained in the next chapter of what he is selling her too. This place is a very fucked up place. Virgil is basically a fucked up person. I’ll give his character description and sprite later.

Oliver does come to see her but he avoids talking to her. He avoids talking to her because his emotions are fucked up. I couldn’t write it properly, but he did love her. His background hasn’t been released yet, but it is sad and he did love her. Some memories are gonna be coming up in the next chapter of them together and they’re sweet. But it’s when she remembers them in this terrible place.

Virgil and Oliver are working together, and some more evil characters will be released. Plus, this story involves rape, abuse, and other things in the next chapter. I’m not crazy or fucked up, but my MCs background is fucked up hebwbw.

Oliver and Virgil’s background will be out soon. Do y’all think I should put it in the wiki? Like make a wiki and put his background and not explain it in the story exactly? I might do that for all of my characters. Idk.

However, it seems like Oliver is a monster, but the true monster hasn’t really be revealed yet.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this. I couldn’t write this chapter good enough because I kinda suck at writing in general but also suck at writing abuse. My head comes up with things but I don’t always know how to write it properly. Anyway, I hope you get the jist of whats in my head. The chapter of Sarah’s childhood memories are coming soon. Idk when. But soon lol.

I am really enjoying the banter with Jay and our tribe. Having a great time with this immunity challenge and chatting with Joey and Felix. Wish the other tribe mates were as active.

Ya know coming into this competition i didn’t expect it to be me and Bradley as the last two people representing our team. I guess he’s gonna be more active now since his busy week is over so that’s swell but like. God I really wanna sleep.

Felix

To sum up, I feel like I am getting a deeper bond with Flint and Joey. They seem to be willing to talk with me most often. So, even if we do go to tribal I am safe for the most part. I just feel like I am liked in the tribe. Also, I am the one putting in the most work for the tribe, so I have that going for me. I just feel safe because of the work I have put in, but I don't want to give up just yet. If I can avoid tribal, then I will. According to both Joey and Flint, Suzy and Charlie have been very inactive. Therefore, it will be them on the chopping block come time for tribal. Joey thinks Charlie is more inactive whereas Flint thinks Suzy is more inactive. It'll just come down to what Cassie and I feel in the end. Doesn't hurt us either way since I think they are the weakest links on our tribe, especially Charlie. I don't think she put in enough effort last immunity challenge. Plus, she was totally inactive for this challenge that she auto-lost. Cassie missed this challenge too, but she at least did really well last challenge. If we go to tribal, I think I would vote for Charlie in the end since they are the person I feel least closest to. If only Bradley dropped, I could win this challenge for my tribe and cement my place as a valuable asset.

Lysandre

I am SO SORRY GIGI! I thought you were a returnee so I decided to snap! The comment looked pretty mean compared to the others,  which it was. The tribe, Marie and Kathleen, was wondering who said the mean comment and they believed it was David. I said yeah I think it was him as well. I love accidently painting a target in him and being a rat child.

Lysandre

Ok so I completely missed the challenge! I had no idea it was going to start early and I was at ine of ny sibling's events. I'm rooting for my team and hoping that my absence doesn't paint a target on my back. Also! I am loving being Lysandre! The writer in me is having a field day because I get to create a character and their background, quirks, and personality BUT THEN I GET TO BECOME THEM.

Flint

I couldn't outlast that second Immunity challenge. It was fun but my body couldn't carry on. I hope that Felix can pull through for Tuai! If we have to go to tribal I think it will be an easy vote, for me at least. I think that Cassie or Suzy should go. Cassie hasn't shown much initiative as our leader and Suzy isn't very social.

Bradley

This challenge is taking forever. Im the last one for my tribe. I dont want to lose cuz itll suck and havent been on that much so my soical game isnt too strong either. I just want to beat one tribe.

I'm so proud of Felix for sticking it out for the tribe so that we don't have to go to tribal tonight. Plus we still have the numbers advantage, so that is always a positive.

Flint

So relieved we won immunity again! The Tuai tribe is unstoppable so look out! I'm a little jealous that Felix won an advantage but he deserves it and maybe with some buttering up he'll share the information with me.

Felix

Can you believe I have done THAT! I single-handedly won this challenge for my tribe, and got an advantage on top of that. I know why Raul and Kathleen gave it to me, though. If I won and people knew I had an advantage, I would have a big target on my back. It does seem that Kathleen and Raul are working together, so I have to watch out for them. Whether I tell this to anyone on my tribe is a different matter entirely. Though they all know I have an advantage. I think I won't be seen as a threat until later on in the game. I'm still an asset to them though this early on so I hope I would stay if we had to go to tribal in this stage of the game.

Raul

I really did not think I was gonna be able to compete but I got back into it was in the last 2 of our tribe. When it came down to 4 of us 2vs1vs1 we knew we needed to just knock out Bradley and he did that to himself. The best thing to come out was that Kathleen and I grew together plus I'm pretty sure I know the identity of Kathleen which helps cause I love this person. Also there was a individual advantage to be won and Felix had 0 while Kathleen and I had 2. Kathleen and I had decided that Felix could have it but try to work a little magic and make a relationship with him and a deal to work together if the opportunity arose. My smart self realized that that if we just gave it to him it would be announced we made a deal, so I said we continue the comp and just throw it that way it wouldn't be revealed what we were actually doing. This way it keeps this threesome possibility a secret. Whether it remains one or not we shall see. At the very least we aren't going to tribal. Hoorah, 1 point Raul the Snake 0 points survivor gods . . .

I think the advantage is less about doing someone on the other tribe a favor. I'm telling everyone about it because, if I do that, it garners trust because they know I'll be open with them about any advantages I have. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to tell the truth to gain trust. The extra vote could also get me an ally on the other side. Let's see if this plays out like I hope it does.

Everyone is nice which makes it hard to decide who to vote off. Performance in the next challenge will base my vote and probably others.

I think my plan is working. Cassie offered me an alliance with her and Flint. I think those two are really cool so I think working with them is in my best interest. Also, I have connections with Mea through Raul and Kathleen. Hopefully, since I'm giving an extra vote to Bradley, I can gain a connection with him despite not having met him. I hope this plays out well! My social game seems to be climbing!

I have made my first alliance in this game! It's the Tuai Quad Alliance, LLC featuring Cassie, Joey, Flint, and I. It's basically everyone I wanted to work with since the beginning of the game! I think I have found myself in a good position on this tribe. To be honest, I'd like to see Charlie go first, but we'll see how this all pans out. I'm glad I finally have a security blanket though. Hurray for a good social game!

I love being a part of the Tuai tribe and was happy to become the leader. Despite liking all of my tribemates, I've become part of an alliance. We're calling it the TQA, LLC. Maybe someday that can be trademarked, hehe. But the Tuai Quad power is strong with Felix, Flint, Joey, and myself.

Well. We lost the challenge. I made a pact with Bradley that we should stick together since we were the last two people left in the challenge. I also talked to Apollo and Boris. I seem to be close to them. Boris mentioned making an alliance with me, him, Bradley, and Apollo and I would be totes down for that. So. Guess this will be pretty simple hopefully

I just cast my first vote and it was wild. I didn't know what to expect going in to tribal. I hope no one blindsides me because I am really getting invested in this game. I think while my performance in the last challange wasn't the greatest, I can still be a strong social player. Not sure if I'm feeling like Parvati or Hannah Shapiro. I need another few weeks to find out what kind of player I am going to be.

Too spoilerly. I will tell you they are called Shifts and are early Cybertronians, being made many years before the first properly bipedal cybertronians. They helped shaped the frames of modern cybertronians into what they are today, and are very proud of that.

Personality

Rob is mild mannered and is kind. Rob is very dedicated to working and often neglects to take care of self because of gettimg way too focused on the task at hand. Rob is very blunt and is very bad at understanding social cues and has a very hard time dealing with rejection and rudeness or anger. Rob is fairly logical and dislikes when things dont have a reasonable explanation. Rob is a pacifist and dislikes all fighting, although is argumentative and tends to argue over things disagreed with, but tries to hold back on it around those Rob doesnt know. Rob enjoys helping others out, especially with small tasks that are simple or easy to do. Rob cares a great deal about all Cybertronians and always enjoys meeting modern cybertronians. Rob has no sense of humor, and is somewhat apathetic. Rob is very attentive and a great listener.

Guy is much more confident and initiative then Rob. Has a tendency to get overworked and stressed easily even though Guy loves to do the work Guy does and tends to be sloppy and do it all at once, meaning Guy has to go back and fix it later on which is often procrastinated on doing. Guy is friendly and appears to be kind, although, like Rob, has a tendency to be blunt. Guy is a pacifist and believes it is not in a Cybertronians nature to fight, and disagreements can be solved through arguments and reasoning. Guy does not care very much for the intricate details of things and doesnt often look that deep into things, taking things in at surface level and often missing clues or details that may be important for Guy to know. Guy cares for Cybertronians as a whole, but could not be very much bothered with their individual struggles despite being kind, Guy is often unwilling to help others, especially if it means leaving home base.

Notes

These two were around awhile ago, and passed away before the Titan War, and before the language used around the Titan War was even invented.

Id say this version of them is from one of these twos escapades, where they decided to venture out from home to marvel at the world around them. I didnt mention it, but these two also love organics, especially humans.

They have universal translators on hand, cause otherwise.. well they wouldnt be able to undestand anyone and nobody would be able to understand them. They also have a limited knowledge on quite a few words.

Their cloaks have lots of pockets and they often have something in them

Appearance

These two look very similar, being dim, monochrome colors. Most of their bodies are covered by a cloak, and only really their faces are visible. They dont appear to have proper faces, but dozens of thick, but not all that long, jutted antanee stick out of their heads around the top. Their heads only seem to support the antanee and have a completely flat face with a few lines on the face that seem fairly deep and extend from the top of the to the bottom, and break off into segments near the bottom of the face so there is no proper chin or jawline. Inside the openings/lines in the face something appears to be writhing, but it isnt visible unless the viewers optic is very close to it. Around where a neck would be are bundles of thin, white lights in a slightly crooked line shape. These lights are attached to dark strands that resembles the strand of leather, but are much longer and thicker and bunched together to form a kind of scarf, making it hard to tell they are individual. The cloak covers the rest of the body leaving it unseen, but it can be assumed some form of legs are under there as they can move quite well, but not very swiftly. They dont appear to have visible arms, and if they do they are hidden by the cloak. They use their heads to the best of their ability to pick things up, and when they arent able to they seem to miraculously find a way to put it in one of their cloaks pockets or balance it on some of their strands when no one is looking. The part of their body concealed by the cloak is long and extends backwards, not upwards.

Your first OC ever?god. its got to be Super Kitty. when i was like … an incredibly small child I used to draw comic strips about this feline caped crusader, who was friends with everyone in the city, and the comics always involved him stopping an evil banana man from stealing money from the local bank. He was paid with donuts for his service to the city. i still remember how to draw him.

Servant has a comic project in the works that basically stars him, sort of a series of one-shots about the things he’s experienced, i feel like that would be a good thing to take off and run with. Westrin’s just fun as hell, i love the guy.

Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?real talk now… there’s at least five different characters that i refer to as a whole as “bronze-tangential”, who started out as, “what would bronze be like if they were in this world?” and then becoming their own thing within said world because i just get stupid attached

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory Mmm… there’s a few of them, most obviously Lent (whose background I did a short comic about). Basically his entire town got eaten by ghosts and turned into zombies, he only barely survived with a sliver of his soul left.

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)? Probably Bronze’s dad! I don’t talk about him much, but his name’s Devon Reed, and he was a biotech developer specialising in android design. 

I often describe him as being something of a reverse Arthur Weasley - a very fatherly scientist fascinated to the moon and back with the concept of magic.

Any OC OTPs? having trouble thinking of a lot of them right now, but there’s Eric + Lent & Naiadine + Tailias from Emerald Sigil, Avken + Baromet from my space campaign world, Sydd + Wyvv from my unnamed campaign world, and I’ve been considering Westrin + Servant as an interesting dynamic in Servant’s story

18. Any OC crackships? My character Bismuth and @autistictimeknight​‘s oc Eros. Theyre so fucking in love, I love it. Its been awhile but I do still think about them sometimes.

As I recall, Eros is an empath, she can read other people’s emotions. But Bismuth is a robot, and Eros can’t read her. Because of this Eros can let go of her fear of unintentionally manipulating the emotions of her date, which would hold her back from most other relationships. 

19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)Hey, meet Bronze! I definitely do not talk about them every five minutes, why would you say that. 

Bronze was with me through two of the hardest years of my life so far, and being a DND character they grew with me, both as a fighter and as a person. They were non-binary before I started using those pronouns, they were the first character or person or anything who I fought someone about using the right pronouns for, they make a great icebreaker for if I want to see how someone reacts to non-binary pronouns … 

One funny anecdote about Bronze is that when I first made them, their “gimmick” was that they would sometimes glitch out and mess up their speech, mostly because I wanted an excuse not to engage in the roleplaying (which I was very bad at). The interesting thing is that as I got better at interacting with the group, we both grew out of needing it very quickly. 

I’m very proud of Bronze. 

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?Westrin is a bard! His singing voice sounds like Bill Wurtz and these are his theme songs.

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?I’m gonna go with Enza for this one. Enza Colie was originally written entirely because I wanted an antagonist for a short starring his sister, Jane Colie. But the more I fleshed out his reasonings for acting how he did and explored his character, the more I realised he’d make an even more interesting character if allowed to have a redemption arc, too. 

I just want to state for the record that I was very reluctant to the idea, and he basically dragged his way out of the villain pit entirely of his own accord. I am dubiously proud of him, and also a bit scared. 

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?Probably either Eric (Big Man, Best Friend), Crocus (Mother figure), Reed (Father Figure), Westrin (hed just make a good friend u kno??), or Bismuth (she makes good conversation!)

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)probably the homestuck fan-troll Hallux, but that’s mostly because they were based on a troll-sona I made awhile ago. They’re a hope/prospit game designer who is small and full of rage and love

Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will? this is an interesting one… i don’t think ive ever had something Bad in a design ive done called to my attention by someone, but I did create my character Servant at around the same time I was first really expanding the diversity of my casts. (since i don’t talk about him often, a little context: he’s a magic spirit creature bound to human form to serve the royal family of the land and follow their orders.) 

somehow, younger-and-more-stupid me managed to have the revelation that making this “eternal slave” character literally anything other than a white man, especially as a white author, would be Pretty Not Good. im … thats really, really not something i should pat myself on the back for, but i do consider it one of the biggest bullets dodged in my artistic career so far that i realised that not all representation is good representation so quickly, before i could make that incredibly, incurably stupid mistake. 

after that, trying to make sure my characters and their presentations don’t harm anyone pretty much has become a paranoia. i don’t seem to have stepped on any toes yet, but when it inevitably happens, please let me know - i didnt know, and i want to fix it!

28. Your most dangerous OC? god damn it i have no idea!!! is it the terminus? glitch in the matrix god of chaos motherfucker?is it sarle? terrifying calculating scientist with the power of the soul at her fingertips ??? is it ares??? is it athena????? is it petra?????? the gatekeeper???? 

… actually, the gatekeeper might be it, if “dangerous” just refers to “the amount of raw power it can wield”. the Gatekeeper is a titanic entity that exists in interdimensional multiverse space, and its implied to have the ability to create and destroy entire universe bubbles at will. for what cosmic purpose, no-one knows. 

at a more personal scale, though, literally all of the aforementioned characters are pretty bad to run into too. 

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going?god. Mina or Tawn. Tawn is the Indiana Jonesy type and probably dumb enough, but also competent enough not to get into too much trouble there. Mina would probably drag her friends along. 

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection? XEN09. No-one knows, because no-one knows xir personal identity. Xe absolutely does, though. It’s less of a secret if you know xir in person, but good luck finding out about it otherwise.

Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)dave just reblogs memes all the time tbh. they like to keep tabs on the ridiculous superhero news going on, and they show human jokes and cat videos to their alien gf. they dont really post or add to posts, but they talk in tags a lot. 

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why? i want to say tawn because i literally just realised ive been imagining their voice as sounding like luigi this entire fucking time and i never realised until this exact instant

33. Your shyest OC?probably baromet. they prefer to keep to themself in their hideout, with their collection of shiny things. they don’t really enjoy trying to communicate much, mostly because they expect to get yelled at. 

34. Do you have any twin characters?Yes! At least two sets; 

- Crocus and Sarle. (x) (x) They don’t exactly have a very well-developed relationship, but they are both quite important to the plot of my campaign world, and they are both very interesting. Crocus is a motherly figure who just exudes friendliness, while Sarle is .. very much not that, a researcher studying very gruesome things and pushing the boundaries of reality. 

- Jane and Enza Colie. I haven’t talked a whole lot about either of them here, but I’d rather leave their story to do the talking whenever I get around to it. Essentially, the both of them were intended to do the dirty work for their crime boss family, but Jane ditched to study medicine. Most of the conflict between the two of them comes out of Enza not understanding why she made the choice she did, and coming to understand how he’s been manipulated. 

35. Any sibling characters? I can’t really think of any off the top of my head, I should … I should really work on that. 

I can talk about Westrin, though. Westrin (a demigod of many things, but namely bards, travel, travelers, and people who are lost) often becomes close friends with mortals, sometimes practically adopting them. These people who consider him family, and people who have received his blessing, are able to use his surname, Brilanta, as their own if they choose. So I guess all of the Brilantas are siblings, at least in spirit. 

Oh, and XEN09 has like, seven siblings. Xe is the second-oldest, and least remarkable.

Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)? I already talked about Eros and Bismuth up there a ways in question 18, but I’ll talk about another relationship here. @autistictimeknight​‘s character, Nova the Alchemist, is mentor and adopted parental figure to my character Munna. Munna … Munna isn’t a very good apprentice. She tries very hard. 

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human That’s most of them, I’m not quite sure what to say here. Bronze is an android? Bronze again? Westrin? All the aliens ??

aside from the entire “bronze-tangential characters” thing i mentioned awhile back, I tend to really like designing characters with hair color lighter than their skin color. it just looks so cool man. i love drawing freckles but dont put them on enough characters. i like really curly hair, but also really long and flowy hair. i like drawing triangular body types, and pointy/prominent noses.

Yes, bc most of my dreams are very vivid. Ok so in my dream, my family and I were going to visit Willy Wonka’s factory. We parked in this extremely large parking lot, right in front of the factory (which looked like the one from the 2005 movie even though we were visiting the one from the 70′s and is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forests), but in order to get to the it we had to cross under a fence made out of electricity. So we all had to like shimmy underneath it, only when I went I got electrocuted, and I remember that I felt actual physical pain when this happened??? So we go inside and have a good time. Willy Wonka is there (the Gene Wilder one), theres a huge ass chocolate funnel, and a ball pit for some reason (???) and everyone was having fun. The weird thing though is the factory looked like a McDonalds play land place bc everything was made out of plastic and no one else was there for some reason. Anyway after what felt like a couple of hours, we decide to leave. The parking lot electricity fence is down, so we don’t have to risk electrocution, but, however, we find that there are around 20 race cars with angry oompa loompas in them, surrounding the parking lot. My family thinks this is weird and they all naruto run to the car (???) and leave without me?? So in this fucking blue minivan they ram into the race cars and escape, leaving me behind. I then am suddenly aware that Wonka’s factory is in the state of Kentucky, and realize that I have a long walk home to Maryland. I grab my phone out of my pocket, which is this, and try to call my parents, who do not pick up. After this, I literally have a movie montage of me walking home through suburban roads, only when it ends, I”m only on the road that leads to Wonka’s factory. Suddenly, a white van pulls up and the door opens to reveal 20 boy scouts who tell me i’m an honorary member and pull me in. They speed down the road, only for the oompa loompa race cars to appear out of the forest and chase us. We swerve off the road and die from being crushed under the van. The end.

2. Describe your favourite cinema. Is it nearby, or hard to get to? Why is it better than the others?

My favorite cinema is 15 minutes away and I only go to it bc its not that far. Idk how to spell it, its called like, Lietersburg or something. IT has a really big parking lot that I use to practice driving.

3. What was your favourite class in school? In terms of atmosphere, classmates, teacher, anything.

My favorite class in school was my junior year of high school english class with Ms. Mattu. I was friends with everyone in the class, which by the end of the year only had around 7 or 8 kids, and we spent class joking around and writing stupid messages and memes on the board, which, most of the time our teach would let us leave up there. Ms. Mattu was (and is) an excellent teacher who would push us to the limit in terms of our ability, and really helped me improve my writing skills A LOT which is great for someone who’s gonna major in something that might need a bunch of writing ability. We also had food days which were cool and watched some really good movies like, The Help or The Shawshank Redemption.

4. What’s one hair colour, piercing or tattoo you’d love to get someday but probably never will?

I would really love to get a septum piercing bc I think they look awesome, but knowing me I would probably get tired of it and want to take it out after a while. So sometimes I just wear a fake one lol. I’d also really love to get a tattoo of No-Face from Spirited Away, bc that movie is very close to my heart.

5. Describe one person who you’d love to be friends with, but only know as an acquaintance through work, school or other friends. What about them makes you want to know them better?

Oh jeez, there was this girl at school (who I absolutely will not name bc some of u went to school with me) who was like really cool??? Amazing fashion sense, super funny, and really cute. We had only talked a couple times, but I would literally be so starstruck by seeing her that I would stumble on my words. Everything she did was just so effortlessly cool, and I probably definitely had a small crush on her lol. She pulled off stuff that I could only dream of doing. I really wanted to learn more about her, but I don’t think we would have had a lot in common rip.

6. What is your personal “white whale”? Something you encountered in the the past and have never been able to find since, no matter how hard you try?

Honestly, I don’t think I have one? While I do enjoy obsessing over things, I always will let go of something after a while, whether it be a thought, idea, or thing, bc truthfully I just get bored with it. Like, if I want something, the longest that feeling will last is probably at most a couple years before I go, “well i guess I’m not getting it. Better move on”. I don’t like to chase after or they to find things that I deem as too hard or bothersome.

7. What was your favourite movie when you were a child? Does it still hold up now that you’re older?

SPIRITED AWAY AND LILO AND STITCH. Both are tied as my favorite movies ever. I’ve been watching Spirited Away since I was like a fetus, i watch it at least once or twice a year now, but as a kid i’d probably watch once every two weeks. It was my first anime, I loved how it was drawn differently than Disney, how it took place in Japan, a place i had several friends from, and how everything. Looked. So. Delicious. Not to mention how funny it was. It definitely still holds up today, and now as an artist I appreciate it even more. Meanwhile, I love Lilo and Stitch bc I’m a pacific islander! At the time, it was the only movie I’d ever seen about someone else who grew up on an island, and I really connected with Lilo. It was and is still SUPER hilarious. And now I actually connect with Nani a lot because I have a little sister. The bond is portrayed so well, which I couldn’t understand as a kid because I was an only child at the time. Even the way the characters speak and act is in such a relatable way that i can’t help but feel homesick. Also, i cry when i watch the movie during the scene where Nani sings. Super sad.

8. Do you have a favourite ‘local’ food? It could be a local delicacy unique to your town, but it could just be a particular snack from a particular shop. A favourite meal from your favourite restaurant, maybe, because nobody else makes it the same way that they do?

There’s this local donut shop called Krumpe’s which everyone in town goes to. Their donuts are pretty good, and even better warm. During New Year’s Eve they hand out free donuts during a “Donut Drop” (mocks the ball drop) we have every year. My brother is friends with the family’s son and i quite like the mother, who I once had a long talk with while we were sitting on a bench overlooking a pond.

9. Have you ever skipped school or work to hang out with your friends or to go to a particular event?

Haha, NO. I could never get away with leaving school, and honestly, I don’’t really have any friends I could ever do something like that with. My school calls our parents if were absent and attendance is really hard to get out of. The only thing I’ve ever missed school for was a field trip or college visit. When i was a sophomore however, I did tend to leave my last period class 15 minutes early to walk around and talk to the janitor (he’s really nice) bc we had a long term sub who was really cool.

10. What is something you’d love to collect but haven’t yet?

Sweatshirts i guess? I’d love to have sweatshirts from all over the world and places i’d visit. With how often I wear them I think i’d be pretty useful too.

11. Are you the kind of person who saves tickets from travelling? If not, what’s your favourite type of souvenir to collect?

Yup, always. I never really get to travel because of costs, so whenever i have a field trip i keep the ticket. So far, I have some Pentatonix and Two Cellos band tickets, and one from the MOMA and a couple other art museums.

Identity: Loud and Proud

So i saw a posting that isn't that unfamiliar of a sentiment, even within the LGBT community (and this was a post in the, granted conservative end of, LGBT community). In short it was saying lgbt folk dont need to be so flamboyant bc it makes them appear boring (lol) and as though that is all there is to them. I would like to break this down because i know it isn't just in the LGBT community. This is the intersection of identity developmental stages. Yes I've talked about this kinda stuff before so feel free to move on if I'm boring you and don't have enough links/sources (hey I didn't build this app nor would i know where to begin you know how to google hun). As I've said before in most if not all cases of identity development (innate, not chosen) there is a stage where that identity kind if takes the wheel. That is the individual takes pride in the identity and is very much more vocal about it than most other stages of development. Those who have moved beyond and backwards from that stage often may find it obnoxious. That doesn't make it invalid. Now when this stage is met with resistance from the communities around them, what do you think will happen? Well it would likely depend on several factors(the individuals safety, the support system, the individuals other identities, etc). However what happens often is that individual is then kind of blocked into that stage because another part of that stage is rebuking the "other", especially when "other" has a negative reaction to that person's pride. It becomes an endless cycle that they are reaffirmed in the need to be "flamboyant" in identity expression. What I've seen a lot in the LGBT community is members rebuking other members for being in that stage of loud and proud. This has got to stop. Why? Because they already get it from those who would rather see them dead. They aren't there representing you with their short shorts or plaid or rainbows. They aren't chanting your name as they march. Maybe you don't want to be affiliated, fine, then don't be. But what gives you the right to drag someone for going through the same stages pretty much most people go through. Sure not everyone goes through that stage but god forbid anyone does? And the point of being out and loud is to combat the oppression. I will insert a side note here that oppression is viewed differently by different people with different background and certainly this has been a problem area for competition of oppressive states, but that is another conversation. In short, I'd expect those bein loud to let those who need to be uplifted to be louder. Back to the focus: if being out and loud and proud n flamboyant etc aren't your thing that is just fine ain't nobody told you you gotta. But for the fuck of sake don't write off others as 2 dimensional just because they are feeling this part of themselves right now. Not everyone wakes up fully understanding who tf they are. There are so many layers to our identity and ideally we'd all be able to represent these different faucets of ourselves. However, there are injustices at play. These issues keep people having to wear these particular identities on their sleeve to remind people: we are here and we won't shut up or be tame or abide by your subjective rules. Perhaps people would have the time and opportunity to develop their other identities if they weren't so busy trying to protect that one.
