omg, I just gotta say, your whiskey and kent drawing has me ALL in my feels. it's absolutely GORGEOUS and so full of energy and movement. I have been recaptured into thinking about those two. permanently. Literally made my day seeing that piece!!

...I may or may not also be writing a slow burn post-canon fic about them right now... 🫠

Here's what I like: you've got baby-gay Connor, still dealing with Catholic guilt and internalized homophobia, and then you've got jaded-gay Kent, who's stuck in a kind of arrested development because he's still infatuated with the first guy he dated. There's a lot of opportunity for shared character development here. You've also got a bit of a similar dynamic to Jack and Bitty going on, because Connor is stoic and introverted, while Kent is gregarious and emotional. Jack and Connor are explicitly compared to each other in canon, and I'm willing to bet that Connor is very much Kent's type, given that he's a tall, taciturn, dark-haired forward.

Also, it seems likely that Connor would sign with the Aces, not only because Las Vegas is close to Arizona, but also because he has connections on the team thanks to Tango and Scraps. The alternative is that he'd sign with the Coyotes, but that would just be depressing given what became of them.

confessing that i accidentally started the ‘did jack love kent’ debate because i really want to elaborate more. so here’s my original tweet that was in response to ngozi’s check please unpopular opinions post:

I’ve thought about this a lot and this is just a thesis statement of it all so here’s my justification.

i tweeted part of this too, but with jack’s intensity and the nature of his relationship with kent i just don’t believe that he wasn’t in love with him. they don’t call him jack 110% zimmermann for nothing, and a relationship/fwb/situationship whatever you want to call it with your best friend is not the kind of thing jack would be half into.

i do think though that jack believes what he told bitty. i think this post by @bittysthesis and her tags really hit the nail on the head. like jack knows that the way he felt with kent and the way he feels with bitty are different, and he knows he loves bitty, so he deducts that he didn’t love kent. however, i think he was in love with kent, just in a very different way. jack loved kent in a very desperate and nervous way. jack knew they were never going to have a sustainable relationship. even if jack never od’d he knew that they wouldn’t be able to continue what they were doing on separate teams, and the competition of being the number one pick polluted any hopes of their relationship ever having a future. there was always an expiration date. it was a love doomed from the start, but a love nonetheless.

jack with bitty is such a strong juxtaposition to this, like obviously he has a much healthier and truly happy relationship with bitty. and i love the boy but he is not always the most in touch with his emotions (i mean it took look at his graduation) and so i don’t think it registers to him that what he felt with kent can be considered love, just a wildly different kind than what he has with bitty.
