Crystallis’ Astrid joins the '2 Days & 1 Night' gang as they take over Mokpo
CRYSTALLIS’ ASTRID impresses the cast and crew of '2 Days & 1 Night'.
On the January 14 episode of the KBS variety show, the cast and guests are heading to the city of Mokpo for a foodie trip with the teasers showing ASTRID as their surprise guest. In the teaser, ASTRID is shown to have high energy all day. She says, "I've been itching to get going since yesterday," as she tirelessly runs around to take photos, has dance time, and more.
The teaser also shows that ASTRID will be sending the cast members into "game hell" by suggesting game after game. The budding variety-idol shows how she takes charge by hosting each game.
One of the cast members even jokingly says, "Can you get a clue? Take her out of here!" to the amusement of the PDs.
This episode of '2 Days & 1 Night' featuring ASTRID as a guest airs on the 14th at 6:30PM KST.
[ + / - ] she takes over the show?! isn't that stepping a bit out of line… she hasn't been in the industry that long… [ + / - ] the teaser was already so funny i can't wait to watch the episode!

Periodic Rookie Groups Report No. 23
Periodic Rookie Group Reports are a series of biannual reports that seek to put a number to how many rookie groups debut and make comebacks in a given year. For Report No. 23, I covered the activity of '23 rookie groups and the number of rookie groups that debuted in the first half of 2024.
2023 Rookies Of the 95 groups that debuted in 2023, six groups — three boy groups, two girl groups, and one co-ed group — disbanded. They are as follows:
DVI: 4NOLOGUE announced on February 29, 2024, on their official Twitter that following discussions with the boy group members (January ‘23), they mutually decided to terminate the members’ contracts and disband the group.
FEVERSE: According to a March 8, 2024, TVDaily article, the girl group (May ‘23) disbanded in September 2023 following the conclusion of their Japanese promotions. A Kakao Entertainment representative quoted in the article confirmed as much saying, “There are currently no activities planned for the future” but that anything could happen in the future.”
HANA: Days before the girl group’s (January ‘23) first anniversary, Art Company Soul announced on January 3, 2024, on the group’s official Instagram that after long consideration and discussions with the members, they decided to disband the group. Some of the members remain under Art Company Soul to continue their activities.
THE7: Ganada Entertainment announced in a statement posted to the boy group’s (January ‘23) official Twitter on March 19, 2024, that due to the expiration of the members’ contracts and termination of their group contract, the group was disbanding. They promised to cheer the members on their new paths.
Unbalance: The project co-ed group (October ‘23) was created as part of the KBS variety show, Beat Coin. Following the conclusion of the show’s run on January 18, 2024, with its final episode, the group presumably disbanded.
URSA MAJOR: The boy group (August ‘23) created for the MBN survival show Show King Night disbanded following the show's conclusion in September 2023.
Subtracting these six disbandments brings the total number of active rookie groups to 89 groups— 41 boy groups, 44 girl groups, three co-ed groups, and one queer group. Of these 89 groups, 43% or 38 groups released new music at least once between January and June of this year, with 16% or 14 groups doing so more than once. In comparison, to data from Rookie Reports that I have compiled since 2017, this year is in line with the average rate of comeback which is around 43%.

2024 Rookies Between January and June of this year, 52 groups—19 boy groups, 30 girl groups, and three co-ed groups. This number is on par with the same period last year that saw the debut of 52 groups, although with a different ratio of groups. While in 2023, boy groups and girl group debut numbers were more evenly matched, continuing the trend that began in 2020, girl group debuts again outpaced those of boy groups.
Of course, as I touched on in Rookie Report No. 22, categories like ‘boy groups’ and ‘girl groups’ do not reflect today's industry's landscape. Unlike in previous years, agencies are not the primary architects of new groups, many of which are formed and debut through alternative methods. In the first half of 2024, almost half of all groups—46% or 24 groups to be exact—fit this profile. Of these 24 groups:
Nine—four boy groups and five girl groups—were formed via a survival show.
Six—all of which were girl groups—debuted through Rainbow E&M’s Future Idol Asia Project (See my Quarterly Debut Review posts for more about the Future Idol Asia project)
Four—two boy groups, one girl group, and one co-ed group—formed and debuted independently from any agency.
Two—one girl group and one co-ed group—debuted as school idol groups.
One—a co-ed group—composed of members from various acts under Pocketdol Studio that was formed to release a special single.
One—a girl group—was a project group formed to promote SK Telecom's metaverse app ifland.
One—a girl group—is the latest addition to the ongoing trend of virtual idol groups.
I am not one for using these Reports to draw sweeping conclusions, especially when it is only halfway through the year and the numbers are softer. After all, within the industry that seems to abide by its temporal logic, a lot can change in six months. It is unlikely that any event that does happen will mean that the industry is returning to the status quo that has held for years. Far from it, 'rookie groups' as a concept seem to be in the throes of a transformative shift, the shape and contour of which are only just beginning to come into focus.

Ravi was charged for 'military service corruption' for health reasons…
Group VIXX's Ravi, who was pointed out as an 'idol suspected of corruption in military service', was booked for violating the Military Service Act.
On the 12th, 'SBS 8 News' reported that rapper Ravi was recently booked. How did Ravi, who dropped out of the program due to enlistment, become a 'military service corruption idol'?
Ravi, born in 1993, got off the KBS 2TV entertainment program '1 Night 2 Days' in May of last year, ahead of his enlistment.
Later, Ravi announced that he would start military service as a social worker. For health reasons, he received an alternative service grade in the physical examination of the Military Manpower Administration.
Ravi said on social media, "For health reasons, I plan to fulfill my national defense duty through social service on October 27. I'm trying to see everyone's faces before I go, so please wait a little while and I'll tell you good news."
In the midst of this, the Kyunghyang Shinmun reported on the 12th that a rapper from a famous idol was exempted from military service through a broker. Broker Goo has advertised that his clients include celebrities such as sports players and rappers. The sports player in question is known as professional volleyball player Jaeseong Cho.
When Ravi was pointed out as a 'famous idol rapper', the agency Groublin said on the morning of the 12th, "We are closely grasping the related content." I think it's the right thing to explain in detail after figuring out the contents, so I'm currently figuring out the details."
In addition, he added, "If there is a request, we will diligently conduct the investigation at any time."
However, the joint investigation team of the prosecution and the Military Manpower Administration recently booked Ravi for violating the Military Service Act.
The joint investigation team suspects that Ravi was judged to be a grade 4 supplementary officer by lowering his physical grade by applying for a reexamination, saying that he is suffering from epilepsy. Prosecutors plan to summon Ravi soon for questioning.
Regarding the prosecution for violating the Military Service Act, the agency told Xports News that it was "confirming".
The public's disappointment is growing at Ravi's different moves before and after.
On the other hand, Ravi debuted in his last 2012 group VIXX and received a lot of love. Ravi established the label Groovlin in 2019 and has been active in solo activities and broadcasting.

Hey there! I really like your answer about JM being distant and fully agree with you...I really wish people would stop becoming so insecure every time there's one or more reasons we don't get as much vmin content... Editing, right? :D
In your answer you mentioned the ring that has appeared on Tae's finger....Can you elaborate on this some more? Thank you!
Thank you very much and I am glad my response was appreciated. I do what I can even if I don't have the kind of eloquence like admin 1. I’m glad that I was able to convey my observations and thoughts well.
I hope you don’t mind me combining my answer to your question, anon, with another one weve gotten, being this one:
From anon: I have a question for admin 2 / Th is always being pushed away by Bts and Jm. Now Th belongs to a ring and many say it is a friendship with Woogs. But woogs wear completely different rings. The Jm thing in KTV would be a joke and had nothing to do with ThRing but with Jk (?). Why is everything only possible, but not just Jm and Th together?
I thought these two fit thematically, since both yours and this anon’s ask wanted to talk about Taehyung’s ring on his right index finger and its sudden appearance during the vsope vlive for the first time after not wearing any for a long time.
Perhaps it would be nothing special if this ring were put on the finger as an accessory to match/go along with the design of a suit or an artistic costume on stage. However, it appeared in their free time after training and at the moment it had nothing to do with any unique situation.
But let's start at the beginning.
I must admit that I watched with curiosity how the jewelry that Tae usually wore had suddenly disappeared except for his bracelets. First the earrings (an earring) disappeared and then the rings (rings from Tae's hand). I was used to Taehyung always having jewelry on his hands, no matter what the situation. I wondered if Taehyung wanted to change his style, his image, or if he was just getting bored of wearing jewelry, or if he was preparing "his bare hands" for a special situation.
Well, please ... tadddaaaaaa ... suddenly it appeared, the mysterious ring on his index finger!
Taehyung first showed it during the smoothie vlive with Hobi and Suga. He showed it right in the camera so we could see clearly ... LOL! And then it started: The fan's fantasies had no limits (including mine ha ha).
Various theories have arisen about this ring, and each of these theories seems to have tried to beat each other out with how fantastical they were.
The first and very "living" theory arose while the vlive was still happening, a connection being made by shippers with T*ek*ok day (thinking about all the comment spamming still makes me mad) and how obviously Tae was celebrating that day by wearing that ring, which they first concluded must’ve been the one he shares with JK.
However, this idea did not survive the "comparison attempt" and slowly disappeared/died down because it did not resemble the rings that T*ek*ok once wore together, which Admin 1 also showed here.
Other stories spoke about the fact that Taehyung (who has been looking so happy for months now) got engaged to a woman (the list is long, from models to actress, through a doctor and some famous idols, like a choose your own adventure type ordeal really). Other “sources” claimed that Taehyung wears a "friendship ring" with his Wooga squad, which someone asked about in the comments under my last post, too. I took a look at this theory because I found this idea interesting.
More below the cut:
Several accounts on Twitter have even posted photos of Wooga members that showed them wearing a ring on their fingers. We know from the media (as in I believe one of the squad members posted about it or something) that weeks ago there was a Wooga squad meeting in which Taehyung also took part in, their first one after a long time. But I found it very strange that now, weeks after that meeting, Taehyung would be wearing a Wooga squad related ring. I've looked at these photos that were shown as “proof” and have to say that they are clearly from different times/months and the rings were are not identical (not to mention one of them wears a ring on the middle finger and another seems golden instead of silver), and don’t resemble the ring Taehyung wore, at least in my opinion.
And to be honest, why would the Wooga squad, who already have a shared bracelet for many years signifying their friendship, suddenly also add a ring to that as well? For what? For me this whole situation just feels like people found a reason/possibility to again try and place Taehyung outside/away from his members by highlighting how much more important and special his connection with the Wooga squad is, how their friendship is way better than what Taehyung has with BTS (and especially Jimin) etc.
Going off a bit on a bad behaviors shipperverse tangent (you know me LOL) such a situation would "free J*k*ok from the intruder and emphasize just how real this ship is”, at least according to those who ship J*k*ok and are toxic enough to hate Taehyung for his bond with Jimin. At the same time, Solos, Antis and other slime would celebrate Kim Taehyung being finally freed from Bhit and the members who, according to them, all hate Taehyung anyway, and well as free from his fake friendship with Jimin into which Bhit forces him for marketing.
All of that is, of course, complete nonsense.
One thing I do find interesting (and this is all by no means the fault of any of the members and their friendships, they have every right to have them and I’m happy they do, all of this is all fault of those who use those friendships as a means/weapon for their fights/arguments etc.) is how Taehyung isn’t the only one who has his squad outside out BTS, his squad is the only one that’s used as tool. JK has his 97 liners about whom he’s spoken and about whom we know he hangs out with them, how they also have some jewelry together, and so on, and yet that is usually completely ignored by shippers and people creating all these nonsensical arguments. With Taehyung, Wooga squad is used as “proof” that Tae wants out of the band (literally where do people get this nonsense from) while JKs squad is basically taken away from him because it doesn’t fit the “fans” narratives. We also know the other members have friends outside the group, how Jimin has his friends, Namjoon mentions his outside friends at times, like how they bought stocks at Bhit/HYBE for example or that friend that tells him about what’s happening on ARMY twt, and many more. And yet Taehyung is the only one whose outside friendships are basically used against him, because of course his solo stans know better than Tae himself, right?
I don’t want to negate Taehyung’s friendship with the Wooga squad and the fact that he is close with them, but people’s obsession with their friendship and this obsessive competition they’ve built around it in contrast to the love and life he shares with his BTS members is just uncalled for and nasty. Taehyung himself said Jimin is his one and only best friend and the person he likes most and that he wants to stay with his members forever if possible, what isn’t clicking in people’s heads?
Anyway, time for my delulu hat.
We recently had Lets BTS and Taehyung’s words to Jimin, and I personally believe that this mysterious ring on Tae's finger is related to Jimn's response to the letter from Taehyung which he read under the table.
As I wrote before, in my opinion Taehyung's words and Jimin's answer were something only Vmin knows and fully understand, something more than just what we saw and heard.
I admit that I’m not the only one with such a theory because I read the same assumptions on YouTube under the video posted by KBS in the comments from people who aren’t shippers, just ordinary OT7.
My theory seems to me to be in second place according to the likelihood of the situation. The first, however, is that there is the simple possibility that Taehyung may be wearing his ring simply because he was in the mood to do so, which he has every right to, of course. He might’ve just woken up and decided he feels like wearing one.
I hope you enjoyed reading it.
Have a nice day or night depending on where you are.

Members may earn up to 18 points for writing, by the end of June 30 KST:
Up to three solo paras of 400+ words based on their quarterly schedule (does not count toward your monthly limit). (three points each)
Up to three threads of eight posts (four per participant, including the starter) based on the monthly schedule. (three points each)
Threads and solos do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated if new information needs to be added.
Reminder: Please do not post schedule posts in the fmdschedule tag.
Schedule posts for this quarter can be tagged with #fmdbceq221.
OVERALL COMPANY
2021 is BC Entertainment’s twenty-fifth year in business and the company plans to do a few things to commemorate that throughout the year. In the second quarter, the company is holding a gala with CEO Kim Byungchul as the guest of honor. The guest list mostly consists of business types for the sake of executive networking, but idols under the company are invited as well. Technically, attendance by BC idols is not mandatory, but management may push them very hard to attend if they see it as beneficial to do so.
Important dates:
April 24: BC Entertainment Gala at Intercontinental Hotel Parnas in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 8-13: Triple Fantasy Festival in Indio, CA, USA.
DECIPHER
Decipher makes their Japanese comeback at the beginning of April and will spend the next month and a half with occasional rehearsals for the concerts they’ll hold in Japan at the end of May. Most of their time this quarter will be spent on their next Korean comeback as a priority, though. Throughout April, they’ll record the album and will go in for fittings. This comeback has a dramatized MV, so the fittings are more focused on making sure the stylist’s vision matches the director’s vision once on the members than the probable need for any tailoring or avant garde styling. In May, they’ll get to learning the choreography and will shoot the music video ahead of the official release in June. Much of the filming will be individual for the music video since it involves a lot of acting with female actresses. Promotions for their new album will be the standard fare for Decipher: music shows, radio shows, and fan signs. This will be one of the busiest quarters of the year for Decipher, and the members are encouraged to invest themselves in group activities this quarter.
Important dates:
April 7: Release of “Mirai (Ashita)” & Mirai (Ashita) Japanese single album.
April 20: “It’s Okay” comeback M/V [2] and stage outfit fittings.
May 2: Complete album jacket shooting.
May 4: TBJ fansign.
May 14: "It’s Okay” M/V filming day one.
May 15: "It’s Okay” M/V filming day two.
May 26: The Secret Diary Concert at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
May 27: The Secret Diary Concert at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
May 30: The Secret Diary Concert at Grand Cube Osaka in Osaka, Japan.
May 31: The Secret Diary Concert at Grand Cube Osaka in Osaka, Japan.
June 7: Release of "It’s Okay” & Complete album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through July 7.
June 15: KBS Cool FM Kiss The Radio radio show guesting.
June 16: Fansign in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.

↳ CHAMPION
Near the end of the month, the CHAMPION members will fly out to Japan to hold their concert at Tokyo Dome. Decipher and Knight have played Tokyo Dome before, but Unity hasn’t. Regardless of history, it’s a pretty big deal that a fresh sub-unit is playing such a venue, so BC and Dimensions wants to make sure it goes off without a hitch. After the concert ends, the unit members will begin working on a comeback as they go in to record a single in the studio in June.
Important dates:
April 29: We Are The Future Concert at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
BEE
BEE’s second quarter of the year is spent riding out the rest of their most recent comeback era and preparing to make the summer comeback fans are anticipating even without any official announcement yet by recording the mini-album at the end of the quarter. The majority of April is occupied with the members’ continued promotions for “I’ll Be Yours”, including occasional fan signs and the continuing run of music show promotions. The song is well-received. It’s not another number one hit in their bags, but anything BEE releases is sure to peak easily within the top ten of charts due to their status of longevity, and “I’ll Be Yours” isn’t an exception. In time they aren’t promoting in April, BEE will be preparing to bring their Live Concert: B concert to Hong Kong. The set list will be the same as their Seoul dates, so rehearsals are intended to keep the members fresh on the stages and adjust to any minor set and prop changes needed due to taking the show out of the country. A photo shoot for Esquire Korea and more duties as ambassadors for 11 St round out the quarter’s activities.
Important dates:
April 5: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
April 12: Fansign in Gimpo.
April 22: End of music show promotions.
April 28: Performance (I’ll Be Yours & Darling) for military at Seoul Air Base in Seongnam (also performing: BEE and Fuse).
May 1: Photo shoot for Esquire Korea’s June issue.

KNIGHT
Their comeback in mid-April is the main event of Knight’s second quarter. Promotions have been amped up some in comparison to their last comeback in response to Knight’s album sales’ slow but consistent downward trend. “RPM” doesn’t look to be the comeback that will break that trend, but BC is throwing Knight into filming some promotional videos and appearances, not to mention a drastically increased number of fan signs, to prevent angering anymore fans, some of whom are still opposed to BC’s collaboration with Dimensions to include Knight members in CHAMPION. The latter part of the quarter will bring other activities and preparations to focus on for the members of Knight in either CHAMPION or Knight Light, and will also have the members spending a lot of time preparing for the tour they’ll embark on in the second half of the year. The earliest preparations will begin in May with dance practices and early fittings, but June will bring the bulk of learning new choreography and preparing special remixes and stages. Each member will get a chance to perform a solo stage during the tour, consisting of one of the following two options: 1) a vocal and/or rap and/or dance cover of their choice or 2) their most recently released promoted solo single (if applicable), that they will begin to rehearse in June as well.
Important dates:
April 4: Photo shoot for Dazed Korea’s May issue.
April 5: RPM Intro Performance video filming (maknae/main dancer/rapper/vocal, lead vocal/lead dancer, & main dancer/vocal/rapper)
April 10: RPM Runner Live video filming.
April 12: Release of “RPM” & RPM mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through May 12.
April 13: RPM Waiting Live video filming.
April 15: RPM Relay Dance video filming.
April 18: Fansign in Gimpo.

↳ Knight Light
This quarter, the pair are informed that BC plans for them to come back in July. In April, they’ll be invited to come sit in on sessions with company producers to help contribute to some of the songs for their comeback album if they’d like to. By May, the final track list will be officially confirmed and they’ll record the album. In June, they’ll finish comeback preparations with fittings, photo shoots, and M/V filming.
Important dates:
June 1: Comeback M/V [2] [3] [4] and stage outfit fittings.
June 7: 1 Billion Views photo book shoot.
June 19: “Telephone” M/V filming.
June 20: “Nothin’” Track M/V and “On Me” Track M/V filming.
June 21: “1 Billion Views” M/V filming.
LIPSTICK
Lipstick’s Ticket comeback is well-received. They don’t have the undivided attention of the public anymore the way they once did, but their fanbase is steady in the wake of Queendom and their hold on their specific subset of the market isn’t being very actively challenged these days. “Ticket” promotions proceed with the usual round of fan signs and, radio guestings, and music shows, but once they finished, they’re almost immediately called into a meeting with the news that they’ll begin working on their next comeback right away. While BEE is most well-known as the summer queens of the company, Lipstick is marketable for the season as well and BC wants to capitalize on that by pushing them for a special summer mini-album release. In May, they’ll be briefed on the concept of the comeback and will record the mini-album. In the back half of May, they’ll learn the choreography a little more rushed than usual. As June comes around, the focus will shift to fittings and photo shoots for the album jacket and promotion materials ahead of their comeback release in July.
Important dates:
April 2: Release of “Ticket” & Sweet Rendezvous mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through May 2.
April 3: Fan sign in Gimpo.
April 5: Fan sign in Yongsan, Seoul.
April 12: Fan sign in Ilsan.

April 27: Fan sign in Gangnam, Seoul.
April 28: Performance (Ticket & Wild) for military at Seoul Air Base in Seongnam (also performing: BEE and Fuse).
May 2: End of music show promotions.
June 15: Comeback M/V and stage outfit fittings.
June 16: Comeback teaser and photo book shoot.
↳ Lip Gloss
No schedules for the quarter.

CHARM
After CHARM finishes their Korean comeback promotions, their team’s attention will turn to preparing for a Japanese comeback in June with a new single and mini-album. April will be spent recording the mini-album and learning the choreography. Choreography practice will continue into the following month leading up to the filming of the music video and the album jacket shoot. Around this time is also when CHARM will begin to rehearse for their Japan tour, which they’ll be holding in the third quarter. Luckily for them, this doesn’t involve learning much new choreography, as they should already be familiar with most of it.
Important dates:
April 8: End of music show promotions.
May 1: Japanese comeback wardrobe fittings.
May 9: “24H” M/V filming.
May 10: 24H album photo shoot.
June 6: 24H M/V reaction video filming.
June 7: Release of “24H” Japanese single.
June 22: Release of 24H Japanese mini-album.
June 26: Performance on Count Down TV.
↳ CHARM U
No schedules for the month.
Important dates:

WISH
"More & More” promotions carry through to the end of April. There isn’t much need to bother with additional schedules like radio show guestings or filming videos for other YouTube channels at WISH’s level, especially considering BC would like to let Chroma take that attention up in April as they promote their first sub-unit debut. After promotions have ended, WISH are quickly informed they’ll need to start preparing for their next comeback, which will start a trilogy of a more elegant lean within their color pop concept. In May, after they’ve had a photo shoot for the cover of the American Harper’s Bazaar (a benefit of their recent signing with an American label), they’ll be in the studio to record the mini-album and, at the end of the month, will be spending time in the dance studio to learn the choreography. June will involve the final comeback preparations, including fittings and the album photo shoot before the members make their comeback in July.
Important dates:
April 5: Fansign in Yongsan, Seoul.
April 12: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
April 19: Fansign in Yeouido, Seoul.
April 29: End of music show promotions.
May 1: Photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar’s May issue cover.
May 8: Estee Lauder fan sign.
June 1: Comeback M/V and stage outfit wardrobe fittings.
June 15: COLOR*WISH mini-album photo shoot.
CHROMA
While the members of Chroma Crystal make their debut as a new unit, the second batch of members slowly eases into preparations to release their solo singles in this quarter. While everyone is working on their own schedules, the members will also begin to film another predebut project BC has in mind for them — a webdrama. They’ve been cast in these roles and in May and June, they’ll film the first season and its special clips. Multiple seasons of the webdrama are planned to get the group’s name out. (Admin note: Characters will have the muse’s name and not the Loona members’ names.)
[Orange] will record her song and learn the choreography in April so that she’s prepared to film her music video (which [Indigo] makes a pre-reveal appearance in) in May. This leads into her official single release in the final month of the quarter. Chroma’s fans are growing with each solo single release, hers included.
[Yellow], on the other hand, begins to record her song and learn its choreography in May (after receiving the original demo the month prior) and the music video will be filmed in June — there’s winter imagery in the song for a “Christmas in summer” feeling that BC thinks will make her standout, or it represents something about Chroma’s lore timeline being out of chronological order; it’s unclear as she gets different explanations from different staff that makes it seem like not everyone is on the same page. [Orange] makes a prominent appearance in her music video.
[Indigo] starts going into the studio in June to record her song, and will work on the choreography the same month, though she’ll spend the beginning of the quarter being sent demos for potential songs as BC whittles down the list to decide what she’ll debut with.
As with all previous releases, other members are encouraged to come visit the other members during their individual preparations so that the company can record behind-the-scenes videos of members interacting.
Important dates:
April 3: [Violet] End of music show promotions.
May 10: [Orange] “New” M/V filming.
June 5: [Yellow] “Heart Attack” M/V filming.
June 6: [Orange] Release of “New” + press showcase, music show promotions continue through July 6.
↳ CHROMA CRYSTAL
This quarter, the unit makes their debut with “Girl Front” and will promote on music shows for a month before immediately coming back with “Sweet Crazy Love”. The members will hold their first fansigns over the two months of consecutive promotions. For the most part, promotions will be kept to music shows, fan signs, and a few interviews and appearances during “Sweet Crazy Love” promotions.
On the final day of their repackage promotions, the unit will hold their first ever fanmeeting for fans. They’ll hold two shows on the same day, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. The members will give live performances of “Starlight”, “Sweet Crazy Love”, “Loonatic”, a medley of their solo songs, and a cover of Knight’s “My Answer”. Each of the three members will also have to perform a solo cover stage of their choice during the fanmeeting. They have to sing/rap for the cover (it can’t be a dance-only cover), aren’t allowed to cover another member’s solo, and should keep in mind the small stage size (elaborate production and backup dancers/vocalists won’t be available). In between songs, the members will talk about themselves, such as their training experience, experiences preparing their solo and unit songs, and their hopes for the group, and at the end, they’ll take questions and requests from attendees through an open KakaoTalk chat room.
Important dates:
April 4: Release of “Girl Front” & Mix & Match mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through May 4.
April 7: Performance (Girl Front) at Nonsan Strawberry Festival in Nonsan (also performing: Lucid).
April 12: Max & Match repackage album photo shoot.
April 19: “Sweet Crazy Love” M/V filming day one (on-location scenes).
April 26: “Sweet Crazy Love” M/V filming day two (studio scenes).
May 5: Release of “Sweet Crazy Love” & Max & Match mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through June 5.
May 7: Fact iN Star appearance filming.

Idol Life Ship 🎶
Hey Love! I hope you are doing well! I was wondering if I could please get a private idol ship?? I also put a lot because I thought maybe more will help you out?? Idk I hope it isnt too much 😭
I am 22 years old. I am about 5'7 and bi-racial (black and white). I am in between mbti personality of INFP-A and INTP-T. I am a Capricorn born and the year of the Ox. I am a little more on the thicker side witha curvy figure (like if I am skinny, you can really tell that I am just naturally curvy) but I have muscle that and often am the one carrying heavy items. I have a hard core rbf, which I have been told makes me look mad at everything around me. I am often told by friends or people who get to know me that they thought I was a b at first because of my rbf. Though besides my rbf, I’m actually friendly. Sometimes I will initiate a conversation if everyone else is on the shy side. But if there is a true extrovert, then I will just chill in the background. I consider myself like a quiet leader of my friend group because I am one of the less introverts. Though, they call me dad lol. I often find myself preferring to be alone though. I do like going out but I often need alone time more than I need to socialize. […]
I hope this was enough information, I am sorry if it was too much. I just got so excited to see what happens 😆 thank you so much love. Have an amazing day/night ahead of you!!
Heyy lovelie, thanks so much for sharing about yourself. No worries I have more than enough so I appreciate it. Sorry for the super long wait, your ship is finally complete. :)
Your Company: RBW Entertainment. Originally you have other offers from different companies, but you wanted to try RBW as your last option before you make your decision. You were the last one to audition that day and immediately the first name they called to train under the company. What stood out to them were your ability to sing and rap as well as your duality when performing. You’ve trained under RBW for 4 years.
Number of Members: Total of 4 members. 1 korean, 2 Japanese and then there’s you.
Group Concept: Badass/Girl Crush
Your Position: Lead Rapper/Vocalist. When on stage, your the most stable when it comes to shifting from rapping and singing. From your predebut days until now, you have improved tremendously and in the media your considered one of the top female rappers in the industry. In the group, your the dad in the group always protecting your young members from harm and shutting down the haters whenever they try to talk badly about your sisters. Your not afraid to share your ost experiences with your members and giving them your best honest opinion on certain topics. At first it was hard for them to adjust that side of you, but overtime they’ve learn to adapt from your rebellious side to your cute side. The members never try to bother you too much because they know you love your privacy, but sometimes they try to stay in your room playing video games with you or discussing on what to do for your next comeback.
Your Scandal: Your airport fashion that made the highlights caused a few fans to make rude comments or make them feel a offended. Of course the outfits were cute and made a statement so you’ve decided to politely call out those people that were bashing on your fashion. After that point, they start showing love again once they’ve seen your next outfit exiting the airport back to Seoul and never bothered you about your clothes again.
Girl BFF: Dami from Dreamcatcher. You both were performing together on the hit YG show Mixnine. She was one of your closest friends on the show and you both left at the same time when the show didn’t last long. Ever since you both stayed in touch and on your off days, you find any good opportunity to hang out with her and each other’s friend groups. For each other’s birthdays, you always love to celebrate by visiting each other’s families and having parties at your homes.
Boy BFF: KB from OnlyOneOf. Both of your groups were being interviewed on Show Music Core to promote your songs for your comeback. The two of you were having too much fun showing a lot of energy and making everyone laugh at your silliness in the interview. Once the interview was shown live on tv, everyone admired your chemistry together and demand you to MC together for the next episode. Ever since you both hang on on and off screen showing everyone your realness and becoming one of best male and female idols to become close friends publicly.
Your Ideal Type: Moonbyul from Mamamoo. Since your both under the same company, she would always run up to you whenever she get the chance to hang out with her and the members. She was also like a mentor to you when you first came into the company helping you through your trainee days and offering to cook at your dorms for you and your members. Your also meet Red Velvet through her so she also gave you good networking tips to meet other famous girl groups out there. She might’ve had a crush on you sometime before, but she shut that down real quick, because she loves you as her baby sister.
Your BF: Hanse from Victon. Ya’ll would shut the stage and media down together. Your individual styles, talent in the rapping department and confidence when performing together is what made me believe that you two would be powerful together. People on twitter were calling you the next CL and G-Dragon hyping you two up together. Hanse is also very humorous and adorable so it matches with your energetic and protective side. You both got to do a collaboration together for the end of the year show music core by surprising the fans with a sexy yet flawless ending to your performance with a kiss. It was added to the books as the most iconic stage collab behind Jessi and Jackson’s performance for Nunu nana.
How long you’ve debuted for: 8 years. You still stay in touch with your members and continue living your life as a solo artist.
Other Activities: Solo Artist/ Music Collaborations
@bdmn127 I hope you enjoyed your ship honey! Feel free to request anytime you want and have a lovely day.

Top 10 Most Underrated K-pop Songs of 2020 (Idol Edition)
2020 was shit. But oh boy, at least the music was good.
And it took us a good while to decide on these lists.
Continuing with the K-Pop Timeout Tradition (see 2019 Ver) of listing the Top 10 Most Underrated K-Pop Songs because all the other sites are just bothered with the Top 10 that pretty much everyone will have heard of/have fan wars over, below are our top 10 picks of songs that did not rank high but deserves your attention!
Like last year we have a separate post for Top 10 underrated non-idol tracks in 2020 and a list for the Top 10 K-Dramas in 2020 in our opinion, which will drop in the coming days.
Some of the artists have escaped the list in recent years to stardom (like N.FLYING, SF9 and OH MY GIRL), so hopefully, it happens again!
This is in alphabetic order NOT in the order of awesomeness because all of them are awesome. Also, all MVs are linked in the song titles because Tumblr won’t let me share that many videos in one post.
APRIL “LALALILALA”
APRIL is a very well-rounded girl group but their talents have been squandered by DSP’s mismanagement in recent years. With DSP seeming to try again and with member Naeun’s meteoric rise thanks to acting in webdrama hit “A-TEEN” and the internationally loved K-Drama “Extraordinary You”, “LALALILALA” seemed like the song to finally give APRIL the awards they deserve. Except it did not, which is an absolute shame because “LALALILALA” is easily one of the strongest girl group tracks this year. The futuristic synths and snappy drum instrumental made for a delightful pop track and reminded us of DSP’s heydays of churning out similarly pristine and impactful tracks for KARA and Rainbow. If you were a fan of past DSP girl group bops like KARA’s “Pandora” and "STEP”, this is the song for you!
Cherry Bullet “Hands Up”
Whoever thought of putting “Beethoven” and “girl crush concept” together should get a raise at FNC Entertainment because it worked. Sampling Beethoven’s famous piece “Für Elise” in different parts of the instrumental using different instruments ranging from synths to different keyboards, the producer was able to provide rookie girl group Cherry Bullet with a hip-hop heavy girl crush banger that is catchy and fun. Also, it is clear the girls of Cherry Bullet really enjoy this song, exuding confidence and charm in the choreography and overall performance. After a few listens, you would be nodding to this addictive song and body rolling to the chorus. If you are a fan of girl crush songs, you have to listen to “Hands Up!”
Cignature “ASSA”
Honestly, we are annoyed with C9 Entertainment scrapping the highly talented girl group Good Day after merely one song and their relatively strong run on KBS’ “The UNIT” and re-debuting only some of the girls in Cignature under their sub-label J9. However, we cannot deny that “ASSA” is a powerful track. It is many things at the same time - it covered the quirky girl group demographic with the cute and somewhat bratty sounding introduction where the girls seem to be talking and singing at the same time, then a somewhat mature buildup came out of nowhere with a more raspy and charismatic delivery on the vocals front before an aggressively girl crush drop begins the chorus carried by the members feeling themselves (specifically their hair) with attitude. If you love the quirky sound of fromis_9 and Oh My Girl but also want some OG girl crush energy like 4MINUTE, “ASSA” is your song!
CSVC “No Mercy”
Okay, CSVC is not really an “idol” group in the traditional sense. A project group made up of 4 indie artists (CHEEZE's Dalchong, Stella Jang, Lovey and Park Moonchi), CSVC tries to recreate the 90s girl group sound of legends like S.E.S, Fink.L and Baby VOX and we are here for it. Not only do all four members have the pipes to carry the early K-Pop sound that has heavy RnB influences, they went all out in the song production with the retro reverbs littered throughout the track and new jack-swing inspired intro. The MV was also a love letter to 90s K-Pop girl groups with the intense use of flares, extreme use of lighting, the “futuristic” sets seemingly made of tin-foil and the members all donning all black or all white outfits. If you are a huge fan of 90s K-Pop, CSVC’s “No Mercy” is the song for you!
ELRIS “JACKPOT”
Honestly, we have no idea what the hell HUNUS Entertainment is doing with ELRIS but even with the mismanagement, they continuously give ELRIS great songs and “JACKPOT” is easily one of the best girl group songs of the year. It builds up from silky vocals to strong rap, which is followed by wonderful harmonisation before we dive into a two-part chorus which made use of the members’ strong vocals as well as gave us catchy moments to sing along to. The music video is also a delight, with the girls dancing on a stage built to look like a roulette. The addition of the 2 members also made ELRIS’ already powerful stages even more impactful. We have been hearing rumours of disbandment but we hope it is not true. If you want to listen to the definition of a well-rounded and fun K-pop girl group track, ELRIS’ “JACKPOT” is THAT SONG!
IMFACT “Lie”
IMFACT is truly a strong boy band with great vocals and strong song production skills of their own yet they CONTINUE to be SLEPT on. I mean being managed by Star Empire Entertainment does not help but it is ridiculous how little domestic and international support they have. They have a distinct sound which they continue in “Lie” - electropop infused with K-Pop song structures and a generous use of unique drums patterns. If you love electropop and K-Pop, it is time to stan IMFACT and check out this amazing song!
NATURE “Girls”
Maybe n.CH Entertainment go a boost in Mnet money after taking on the job to manage TOO after Mnet’s “To Be World Klass” show because their budget really went up and it shows in NATURE’s “Girls”. This song is truly a masterpiece. The chorus is like what you would expect of a club banger EDM track but the verses are made up of clean vocals exhibiting anguish and longing over a relatively simple beat and the bridge was orchestral instrumentals mixed with the drumming of a marching band and the loud chants of the girls. The music video is also simple yet haunting. If you like the darker tracks of 9MUSES and RAINBOW like “Sleepless Night” and “Black Swan” but also the electronic sound of Berry Good in “Don’t Believe” days, this is the song for you for you!
ONEWE “End of Spring”
We need more bands making it in mainstream K-Pop and ONEWE’s “End of Spring” gives us another reason why we think so. “End of Spring” is a breath of fresh air in this year of mainly 80s retro dance tracks and hip-hop heavy pop songs in the K-Pop world, as it instead went for a pop rock sound more reminiscent of American pop rock acts like Train in “50 Ways to Say Goodbye” and One Republic in “Counting Stars” but with a dose of the energy in a teen summer party. If you enjoy a fun pop rock song, ONEWE’s “End of Spring” is the song for you!
OnlyOneOf “dOra maar”
OnlyOneOf is a rookie group with a lot of potential given their heavily alternative RnB and overall escape room-esque sound. They had many great songs in 2020 with wonderful music videos but our favourite here at K-Pop Timeout has to be the MV-less “dOra maar”. This laid back and smooth song showcases each member’s unique vocals and sounds more like a top Korean RnB artist experimental collaboration than a K-Pop boy band song. Also, it is always fun to see K-Pop artists take inspiration from art and culture of different countries (the titular Dora Maar is a French photographer and the lover of Pablo Picasso). If you are mostly a Korean RnB fan, OnlyOneOf’s “dORa maar” might be your gateway drug into the idol scene!
Weki Meki “COOL”
Fantagio seems to be a bit unsure about which sound to give Weki Meki, as the group swings between aggressive and catchy girl crush songs to more generic cute summer songs like a pendulum. They should really consider keeping Weki Meki with the sound they found in “COOL” because the girls really carried this supermodel runway power walk song with poise and confidence. While we have seen boy bands dabble in the runway model sound such as IN2IT in “Snapshot”, SF9 in “Now or Never” and KNK in “Sunset”, we have actually rarely seen girl groups going for this expensive sound. Additionally, the music video for this song is powerful, with the scene of the girls facing each other and vogueing in a long dark room being highly memorable. If you love power girl crushes or any of these boy band songs we have mentioned above, you would really like this song!
Special Mentions of Underrated Debuts:
There were many strong debuts this year and I would like to mention 2 underrated rookie groups to look out for in 2021!
Male - E’LAST “Tears of Chaos”
While more and more male groups are debuting with either badass or cute images, E’LAST decided to enter the K-Pop world with a highly orchestral sound. And the boys have the talent and visuals to carry such a dramatic and theatrical concept. Their label E Entertainment, also seems to have every intent to do the most for these boys, as seen in the production quality of their MVs. With these boys already dropping new material right now, you all should keep an eye on them!
FEMALE - woo!ah! “Bad Girl”
With many strong female group debuts this year, you may have missed woo!ah!, from the small label of NV Entertainment. This small company in fact is led by SM China’s former CEO and this person certainly has an eye for talent because woo!ah! is a very balanced 5 member girl group that has a lot of potential to make it big. In fact, the group is beginning to develop an international following, with “Bad Girl” reaching #1 in the Vietnam's biggest music platform, edging out both aespa’s “Black Mamba” and BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls”. They have already followed up with B-Side track promotions so check out these underrated rookies!

OVERALL COMPANY
food cw // As the Culture Complex grows closer and closer to being finished and is slated for an opening in the first quarter of 2021, the focus has turned to the details of the new center. This month, an offer is extended to all idols under all three companies to submit a cafe menu item idea for a food item themed after them, their group, their company, or their career in general. A contest has also been opened for fans to submit ideas. Idols who submit their ideas and are chosen will get additional publicity through the items’ sale in the center’s cafe and will be awarded a set prize amount in money for their contribution and will earn a percentage of the profit from the menu item once the complex opens. (Menu item ideas should fit a cafe setting and not involve extensive preparation; things like non-alcoholic beverages, small personal desserts, sandwiches, etc.).

DIMENSIONS SOLOIST 1
Before her comeback promotions come to an end, Dimensions has arranged for her to film a “Dance Training Video” of her newest single where she’ll teach key points of her dance to one of her managers and a member of Dimensions’ marketing department. After the end of her promotions, schedules fall off a lot and she’ll mostly be in for meetings here and there about potential end of the year activities and conversations about her direction in 2021.
Important dates:
November 2: “Pporappippam” Dance Training video filming.
November 5: End of music show promotions.
DIMENSIONS SOLOIST 2
On November 15, he releases his latest single and begins music show promotions for it. For this round of promotions, management is mostly focused on recruiting new idol fans from music show promotions and reigniting the passion of existing fans by encouraging him to participate in fan outreach during the period such as VLives. He will also guest on two radio shows as general public outreach.
Important dates:
November 15: Release of "When You Call My Name”, music show promotions continue through December 15.
November 18: Guesting on KBS Music Plaza radio show.
November 20: Guesting on Naver Now Late Night Studio radio show.
DIMENSIONS SOLOIST 3
Dimensions has decided they’re starting to run thin on how much they can milk the success of “I” and her debut solo mini-album, which means they’ve made final decisions about her first solo comeback. She’ll be returning with a single with a different sound from her first release, while still keeping her within the ballad vein she’s successful with. The back half of this month, she’ll go into the studio to record the final vocals for the track.

GAL.ACTIC
Gal.actic continues their music show promotions with a couple of radio show guestings and a fan sign. The song receiving a moderate amount of attention, even if the opinion on the title track as a song itself was split, has confirmed another comeback for the group internally, although nothing has been officially decided or announced to the members yet. Instead, during the back half of the month, members are mostly encouraged to focus on individual activities as the year comes to an end.
Important dates:
November 2: Guesting on KBS Music Plaza radio show.
November 6: Guesting on KBS Cool FM Kiss The Radio radio show.
November 7: Fan sign in Gangnam.
November 19: End of music show promotions.
ALIEN
The members will continue to practice their lines and a handful of performances for their upcoming fan meeting, but they also have yet another English-language music video to film, which will serve as the final single off of their English-language album shortly after they release it next year.
Important dates:
November 21: “You Can’t Hold My Heart” M/V filming.
MARS
Their comeback happens on November 17 and its success is apparent soon after release. It charts well, especially for a boy group, and the fan response is even more positive as fans express gratefulness MARS has returned to the dark concepts fans are particularly found of, and it doesn’t hurt their enthusiasm that his concept leans even more sexy than usual. It sends a clear message to Dimensions what fans want and the company attitude seems to be overall pleased with the results of the comeback. In addition to music show promotions, MARS will promote through radio shows and fan signs and they’ll even film a special Christmas dance practice for their latest title track which will be uploaded onto YouTube next month.
Important dates:
November 17: Release of “Chained Up” & Chained Up mini-album, music show promotions continue through December 17.
November 20: Guesting on SBS Power FM Cultwo Show radio show.
November 21: Fan sign in Mapo.
November 27: Fan sign in Gangnam.
November 29: “Chained Up” Christmas dance practice filming.
7ROPHY
The end of Queendom leads directly into their comeback with their finale track and it’s very well-received. It’s by far the most popular single they’ve released this year and it becomes clear 7ROPHY has won by showing themselves as strong competitors on Queendom, even if they didn’t actually win the show. Dimensions hadn’t expected the single to do so well, so promotions are limited to music shows this time around, but a deadline is set for the end of the month for members to contribute to any songs that might be submitted for their next comeback, which Dimensions reports they’re planning for the first quarter of 2021.
Important dates:
November 1: Release of “Lion”, music show promotions continue through December 1.
UNITY
Unity finishes off their preparations for their late-month comeback earlier in November with the teaser photo shoot and music video filming. They don’t get to see too much of the results of this comeback before the month ends, but even from the beginning of promotions, it earns them a place as Dimensions’ crown jewel with better chart results than ever before and an almost assured path to becoming a million seller between this repackage and the original album, placing them only behind the likes of Origin and Knight in physical sales and making them the first from their company’s history to achieve such a feat.
Important dates:
November 3: Comeback teaser photo shoot.
November 10: “Punch” M/V filming.
November 15: Release of “Make Your Day” Episode #1.
November 18: Release of “Nonstop” Episode #2.
November 24: Release of “Punch” & Unity Zone: The Final Round repackaged album, music show promotions continue through December 24.
November 25: Dingo Music Unity in 100SEC Choreography video filming.
↳ CHAMPION
No schedules for the month.

LUCID
Lucid completes their Asia showcase tour at the beginning of the month, but Dimensions doesn’t have a break in the plans for them. They’ve been invited to perform on Immortal Songs 2 once again and will need to rehearse for that throughout the month. They’ve also been chosen to be turned into characters for the FPS game Sudden Attack due to their popularity with young men, and become ambassadors for the game in the process. Character models will be based off of existing photos of them but they will have to go into the studio to record voice-overs for their character models. If that isn’t enough, they’ll also be in the studio to record their next comeback this month. In a concept meeting earlier in the month, they’ll learn that this comeback is considered critical since they’ve now completed both the original “normal realm” school trilogy and the original “nightmare realm” nightmare trilogy. Officially, this comeback is considered to be a combination of both the regular and nightmare realms — a first for their lore — and the intention is to stay close to the successful sound of their “normal realm” concept with a slightly more girl crush lean, while the music video will involves themes of both realms.
Important dates:
November 7: LOL Asia Showcase tour at Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
November 16: Sudden Attack character recording.
November 20: Immortal Songs 2 filming (to be aired: November 28).
