Hello, everyone! I am happy to present the prompts for this year’s KarmaGisa week!
Some of you might have noticed, but for those who don’t know, this is my second year hosting this week. Last year was my first time hosting a ship week and I had a lot of fun in the process of creating it as well as seeing what you all put together. So, I, with the help of @nagismells, decided to do it again this year! (Don’t worry, we’re not gonna do it every year 😅)
Since this is my second time hosting, I’ll be reusing the rules from last year, as they seemed to have gotten the point across well enough.
—
Rules:
1. Any form of submission is welcome! Art, edits, fanfics, etc.
2. Do not feminize Nagisa/draw him in a dress or skirt. Unless you watched episode 31 with your eyes closed, I really shouldn't have to explain why this is weird.
3. No NSFW, even if the characters are aged up.
Also, proshippers may not participate in this week, meaning no pedophilic or incestuous content.
4. If you make an edit with someone else's art, you must credit the artist (and ask permission before using it!).
5. Submissions may be posted on any platform!
Just make sure you use the tag (#karmagisa-week-2023) so we can find them.
6. Be respectful under all submissions that are unproblematic.
7. Any further questions or concerns may be sent to our main blogs, @p4geofbr34th or @nagismells
—
Aaand, without further ado, here are the prompts!
I hope you all have fun with your creations, enjoy! <3

Hey! So at least thirty people wanted more Karmagisa content (from me or just in general) so here we go!
Details:
Karmagisa week will take place from 7/16/23 to 7/22/23.
Here are the Prompts:

Explanation of prompts, if needed.
Anniversary/Special Day - Any day you can think of. Maybe their one week anniversary? The day they first met? The day they first kissed? Any day you can think of.
Fire and Ice - Powers, metaphors, representations, whatever you want. Focus on one, or do both! MHA AU? Why not? I mean, or you can save that for AU day. XD
AU Day - Crossovers, Shuu in 3E, Karma in 3A, Ghost!Karma, whatever you want! Go crazy.
Pranks and Punishment - Most might think this feels like both are Karma, but I challenge you to consider what sort of punishment Nagisa could come up with were he angry enough. Or this can be some sort of revenge plot against someone that'd done them wrong. Either way, have fun!
Holiday/Birthday - Nagisa's birthday! Feel free to celebrate Nagisa only today, but in case you want to do Karmagisa, you can pick literally any holiday to write about. Including birthdays! Might as well be a holiday, right? staring at Karma
Angels and Demons - On the shoulder? In an AU? Maybe one of them is an angel? Maybe one of them is a demon? Maybe both of them? Maybe they fight one? Go nuts!
Free Day - The sky's the limit!
Rules:
Be nice and respectful of submissions and others!
Be nice and respectful of the characters! (Referring to the feminization of Nagisa mostly... please don't do it.)
All submissions accepted! Art, fanfics, edits, long drawn out letters of how Karmagisa saved your life, you know, whatever. 😉
All submissions must credit the original artist, unless you are the original artist. Actually, especially if you're the original artist. You deserve credit too!
Feel free to submit them to any platform, but just know that unless you reach out to me on Tumblr first, there's a high chance I won't find them... 😅 Use the tag #karmagisa2023. There's another Karmagisa week using karmagisaweek2023 already, so please mind the difference so I know you mean it for me.
No NSFW, but feel free to get a little spicy... But please focus mostly on the fluff, okay?
And if you have questions, reach out to my main blog @solarsavoy.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone makes! And just so you know, I plan on participating every day. 😁Just please don't let me be alone. I'm hungry for more content too, more than just what I can make. Love you guys!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤
That's so hard, I've so many! But I think I've figured it out, my top 5.
Assassin Skills Required
By far my favorite fic I've written, even now. It was based off a dream and includes characters from Krystar while focusing on the AC characters. I didn't know where I was going with it until I was halfway done, so it was written and posted live, consistently. It went from Saturdays only to Saturdays and Wednesdays and somehow I kept up the whole time thru 3 works of it. As a debut for fanfiction, it's simply the best, and I haven't been able to recreate my experience with it since. Writing live was just so... I can't believe I did it. Not once did I miss an update and it wasn't even prewritten. In fact, I outpaced my posting schedule, even after starting to post a second day each week. I'd never been so inspired than when writing ASR. Picking the top 5 is hard, but picking number 1 is easy. Link to ASR teaser.
Kristmas Karma
This one wasn't quite written live, but it wasn't written that far ahead either, and it includes a ridiculous amount of art all drawn the week before it was posted. I can't believe it was more or less posted on time. It was also partially an experiment. While ASR included all the AC characters, I still didn't know them that well individually outside of Karmagisa. Kristmas Karma changed that. I was able to write and understand nearly every single student's POV convincingly, and still reference the fic to this day when trying to feel them out. It still makes me cry and Christmas Day, despite being the single most longest chapter I've ever written, so long it was split into 2 chapters (23k words btw), still flies right by every time I reread it. Link to KK prelude.
Magic Shuu
Speaking of getting to learn about the other characters in AC, this one focuses on Shuu and the five virtuosos. What I love most about this one is how fluidly I've crossed these boys into the Sailor Moon universe. I love how I turn this very minor character and his even more invisible friends into the main stars and make them relatable. In fact, my friend who has a similarly overbearing father relates to Shuu deeply. This story just has so much heart in it. Currently unfinished, but I'll finish it someday, even if it takes me years. Link to first chapter.
Ubisoft
A Karushuu one-shot. It's playful and fun and both of them are such loveable dorks in this. XD I've reread it so many times I've lost count. My favorite part for Karma is when he stumbles out the door in the morning, tripping and nearly breaking his phone on the way. My favorite part for Shuu is how awkward his attempt to be a better kisser is. I love them so much in this. Link to Ubisoft.
Cuddles and Kisses
A Karmagisa one-shot that I'd planned to write for the longest time. It was based on an idea that someone else had, but it's surprisingly sweet and wholesome despite it being about Karma summoning an incubus. XD My favorite part for Nagisa is when he attempts to "seduce" Karma. My favorite part for Karma is when he rushes home because he's worried about Nagisa disappearing, frantically searching the house until he calls out Nagisa's name, and then hugging him in relief when he appears before him. It's just so sweet for a one-shot, and I'm strongly considering writing more for this AU. Link to Cuddles and Kisses.
Honorable mention:
Gerit
An original story set in the Krystar universe but separate from the main story. It's actually my favorite of anything on AO3, but it's technically not a fanfiction. It centers around a neurodivergent named Gerit who was abused in many ways as a child while training to be an assassin. I wrote this in the midst of writing ASR as Gerit was in the story and I hadn't fleshed him out as a Krystar character yet. It's finished, but not all posted on AO3 as I've decided the tiny Krystar spoilers at the end aren't something I should spoil until at least after book 1 or 2 of the Fragment series is out. Still, feel free to check it out. Not for the faint of heart, rated MA. Link to Gerit.
Thank you Anon, for sending me this ask. I hope my favorite reads can get some views from this. 💙

Tinder Matches
Karmagisa Week 2021, day 1 prompt: Matching wordcount: 1600
----------------------------------------------------------------
The fact that Nagisa had a tinder account wasn’t something he really shared with anyone. At the time, he’d created it as a joke, a way of amusing his friend’s stupid suggestion. According to Kayano, it truly could be the solution to his lack of experience in the love life department. Nagisa hadn’t been too sure about that. He was more than aware of the application’s status and, no, he wasn’t really interested in finding people to just have sex with.
Yet, somehow, he still found himself swiping through people on the app one night. He was alone in his room, a little bored, and perhaps even a little too tired after a day’s worth of teaching. None of the people he came across really interested him much, although he had to admit that he’d probably give them a shot if he saw them in real life, just because he wanted to believe in the best in people.
This app, however, gave little to no information on someone’s personality. Then again, some people were very clear about looking for someone rich to provide for them, which Nagisa guessed his teacher’s salary wasn’t exactly right for, and he supposed that also said something about their personality and what they were like in a relationship. Nothing Nagisa really wished to deal with.
After swiping left on complete strangers in fear of one secretly being a stalker, murderer, or just having horrible table manners, he suddenly stopped when a familiar face popped up on his screen. the red hair, the golden eyes, that all too familiar smirk. Nagisa recognized exactly who he was seeing, yet somehow couldn't exactly process the idea. it just didn't seem entirely right.
Someone like Karma wouldn't need to use tinder, right?
He found himself staring at the title picture for a while before he realized he could scroll through and see more. it wasn't like he didn't know what karma looked like... but... he sure was curious about what karma was putting out there.
It didn't appear to be all that special at first. A selfie in a casual outfit, a picture of him at a bar with people Nagisa didn't recognize, a traveling picture, but the last picture was something else. This picture appeared professionally taken, or at the very least it wasn't a selfie and the picture was set up. Karma was posing in it, after all. Posing in a suit, the jacket in his hand, thrown over his shoulder as he glanced at the camera with those devilish eyes. Nagisa was nothing but taken back by it.
He shouldn't be staring, should he? This was his close friend and fellow assassin graduate, the staring was just weird. Yet, somehow, he couldn't look away from the picture and thought back to when he’d first met Karma, so many years ago now. He’d felt the same sense of awe back then. Karma was just so perfect, how couldn’t he. This picture, him as an adult looking like a literal model, was like a visual representation of everything Nagisa used to feel Karma was.
The sudden noise of the train passing near his apartment woke him up from his state. suddenly turning very red, he frantically moved his hands and went to swipe left, except his phone nearly fell out of his hands in the process. He caught it, hands all over the screen and, through his own fingers, he could see Karma being swiped right.
no. no nonono. please go back
Nagisa fumbled with his phone, hoping to undo his actions, but before he could do anything, a message popped up on the screen. He was surprised by it to say the least.
‘you've got a match’
A match. He matched. but that meant... Karma had swiped right on him as well?! why would he- probably as a joke. he probably came across nagisa and thought it was funny, right? Nagisa had to assume that was the truth, although deep in his mind a thought echoed around saying the exact opposite. Maybe he wanted it to not be a joke.
After panicking for a hot minute, his phone made a ping sound, indicating he’d gotten a message. He was too scared to look. Somehow, before even opening the message, he could already sense who it was from. Sure enough, once he finally did gather the courage to check the notification, his fears were proven right. This was the worst situation.
Karma: well well well, didnt take you as the tinder type
He considered ignoring it. What was that called again? Ghosting? Yes, he could ghost Karma. If he didn’t respond to the message, perhaps nothing else unfavourable would be happening. Well, Karma would probably mention it to him the next time they spoke in real life. That would probably be even worse. It wasn’t like he could ignore Karma for the rest of his life. It wasn’t like he wanted to.
Nagisa: i'm not
Karma: yet here you are.
Karma: swiping right on me ;)
The cockiness almost oozed out of the message. Nagisa was left frowning at his phone. The main thought going through his mind was that Karma was probably enjoying this. He was a sadist like that. He was having fun while Nagisa wanted to bury himself as deep underground as possible.
Nagisa: you swiped right first!
Nagisa: mine was an accident
Nagisa: I was surprised to see you on here and my phone dropped
Karma: ah, so you wouldn't swipe right on me :( am I too ugly?
Nagisa felt his face grow hot. He probably shouldn't look at his reflection if he wanted to save himself from the image of his head being a tomato. He didn't think karma was ugly. quite the opposite, actually. Not that he could say that. That would be weird. So, he tried to find some middle ground answer, not calling karma ugly or the opposite of that.
Nagisa: I never said that, I just didn't intend to swipe right on someone i'm already friends with.
There, no way that could be taken wrong. He considered sending an additional message, clarifying just how dropping his phone led to the swiping right, but decided against it. It would sound just a little too defensive.
Karma: well, its nice this gives us a chance to talk again anyways. appears youve been too busy to answrr my texts.
An awkward laugh escaped Nagisa as he looked away from his phone, forgetting Karma couldn't actually see his reaction. There was no reason to avoid eye contact when there was no eye contact to begin with. Still, he shared the sentiment. He kind of had forgotten to keep contact with people lately.
He blamed the new workplace. After finishing his days as a trainee, the new school he worked at was surprisingly more demanding. He always knew being a full time teacher was a lot of work, especially now that there was no one to keep an eye on him and remind him of certain teaching specifics of the school he taught at. Of course, the work was rewarding enough for him to barely think about his loss of contacts. He had a habit of treating those too loosely anyways.
Nagisa: ive just been working
Karma: workaholic
Nagisa: you literally have more work hours than me
Karma: and somehow you still spend as much time working as me.
The conversation went on like that for a bit, them going back and forth at each other. Overall, it wasn't a bad time. Nagisa kind of forgot about the actual use of the app, and the fact that he could just DM Karma on line whenever he wanted to, until Karma managed to bring back the conversation to it.
Karma: you know, usually when people match, they try to meet up for a date
Of course Nagisa was aware that that's what the app was for, it was sort of the reason he’d gotten it as well. However, he didn't think anything would lead anywhere for him, let alone with karma. surely karma wasn't being serious. it would be weird to go on a date with your friend.
and still, Nagisa endulged him, being so stupid as to ask further.
Nagisa: where do people even go on tinder dates?
Karma: anywhere they want to, usually just for drinks, easy way to lead them home a little tipsy afterwards
Nagisa: okay that sounds creepy
Karma: if that's not your style I could always take you out for dinner.
Karma: There's this new sushi restaurant near my place, looks like something you'd love.
somehow, he actually considered it. On any other day, that would sound insane to nagisa. Since when would he consider dating karma? Wait, not dating, going on a date with Karma. There was a difference. Sushi did sound great, and so did Karma's company. He supposed he hadn't really been out like that in a while. date or not.
Karma: i can even pick you up, very romantic
The word hit Nagisa a little hard. Romantic. What would that entail? Would they sit opposite of each other, send cute glances, maybe even hold hands beside the table? He wanted his mind to hate the idea of that, doing those things with his friend, ruining the relationship they already had. But, he also wanted to give in, say yes, and see where things would lead. At the very least, he'd have a fun night with good food.
Nagisa: you have a day in mind?
Karma: how's Saturday?
Nagisa: Saturday's fine
Karma: it's a date!

Karmagisa Week 2021
From July 12th to July 18th I am organizing a Karmagisa week!
For those who don’t know this yet, a week like this will have a theme for every day of that week to make some kind of content related to this ship. The themes will be given beforehand so you can work ahead on it. Of course, nothing is mandatory and this is all in good fun, so don’t worry if you don’t want to join 7 days. Joining just one day is as valid as joining all days!
I will post a link to where people can submit ideas for themes for every day, for which I’ll eventually make a poll so everyone has a say in what the themes we will use in the end will be.
Sharing this post would be highly appreciated, so we can get awareness of this event happening, and if you have any questions use the ask function or just DM me.
hashtag will be #KarmagisaWeek21
If this week works out I’ll probably try rare pair or underrated characters week later!
-Moon (main blog @the-phantom-nagisa and assclass blog @nagisa-shiota-worthy-shit)

TINSITOGS, a retrospective (happy birthday)
(yes I’m like two days too late I know I’m sorry)
Why hello followers and ass class fandom, nice to see you there. I’m sure MOST people know about this, but in case you don’t, hi. On AO3 I’m better known as livixbobbiex, writer of maybe one of the most infamous Assassination Classroom fics.
Which I mean like, if you haven’t read it yet you totally should it’s fanlore at this point I promise-
Shameless plug that I don’t need aside, I felt that, on its first birthday since actual completion, I just wanted to share some things about it. Some tit bits about writing it, fun facts, maybe even some author advice TM. I appreciate that it’ll be super annoying if I do that in the tags, though, so that’ll all be under the cut. If you don’t want to read the whole post, then no matter what, thanks for the support in general!
I also want to take the opportunity to announce that I’ve reopened my discord, so if you want to talk about my fics with me (and others), you’re more than welcome to join! (the link is here)
The origin story
I’ve stated this many times, I think, but TINSITOGS was never supposed to be a serious story. Taking you back, quite a long time, it actually started in a facebook DM with a friend. We used to come up with “head canons” with each other, which were basically just very condensed fanfiction plots over a multitude of text messages. I believe I was trying to cheer her up, and I tried to come up with some kind of plot line.
At the time, I was fairly fresh to the Ass Class fandom, and I was joking about how there were no teen pregnancy melodrama fanfictions. It wasn’t that I wanted one, I just thought it was strange for a school centric anime with a bunch of ships to NOT have one. And, back then, I only really cared about karmagisa. So I just decided ‘right it’s happening’. The reason I decided to make it ABO was due to ‘it making sense’. Fun fact: it was almost written as AFAB trans Nagisa, but I decided against it as I didn’t rate my ability to handle it well back then. Looking back on it, I’m glad I made that decision.
Over around two months, writing out the plot of this story took over my life a little bit. I had no idea where I was going with it, but I was having so much fun with the drama that I decided that Karma and Nagisa shouldn’t get together soon at all, and I had a lot of fun teasing my friend with the ‘will they won’t they’. It was only when I got bored that I invented this intense drama plotline to finish it all off.
That period of time was a lot of fun. And whilst that friendship didn’t end well, I still have a lot to thank her for. She chose Daichi’s name because I had no idea, and she wanted to annoy me because I didn’t like Haikyuu. When I couldn’t decide on his hair colour, the purple was her suggestion because ‘why logic?’ Daichi speaking Korean was because of how much she liked Kpop. She even helped me choose the title of the actual fic, so there’s a lot you can thank her for, honestly.
After I finished that story, though, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Whenever I daydreamed, I used to think about that damn Daichi Akabane, and how much I wanted to tell his story. I’d even come up with extra stuff to fill in a lot of the gaps, and developed his character in my mind. I decided that I was really desperate to write it down. Usually that worked when I had an idea I wanted to work through.
I wrote the first chapter in late 2017, and then the next two as well. I just, kept going, and realised that I could go further still. TINSITOGS was never something that was supposed to be shared, but I decided I may as well. After all, that fated ‘teen pregnancy drama’ fic still didn’t exist, and I thought it would be funny to make it happen.
Yes, as I’ve stated publicly a few times, TINSITOGS was a crack fic. If I wanted attention from it, it was infamy. We even joked about me cursing the fandom if it ever became the most popular fic (whoops?). What I wasn’t expecting was a bunch of people, in a fandom where at the time there were NO ongoing karmagisa fics and it was pretty dead, to really seem to enjoy it. It was enough to have me keep writing it, at least. I still don’t know at what point I actually started taking it seriously, but somehow I did, and the rest is history?
The reception
In my wildest dreams, I never thought that I would be the author of one of the most popular fics in the fandom. To this day, the amount of views TINSITOGS has is insanity to me. For the record, across all platforms it’s on today it has 238,000, which is literally a number I can’t even visualise anymore. Almost quarter of a MILLION. To this day on AO3, it’s the most viewed Ass Class fic that’s an ACTUAL ass class fic (the others are multi fandom compilations). So yeah, I achieved the original goal, I guess?
Now you might be wondering, “omg the karmagisa fandom is fujoshi trash”. And, considering the origins, it is kind of funny. The thing is, though, TINSITOGS was written at incredibly good time. It was written when there were, essentially, very few long form Karma/Nagisa stories. If any other fics did get posted on occasion, they were usually just oneshots. I was also, at that point, writing very fast. A symptom of ADHD is becoming obsessively productive over certain things. Since I was able to get a 3k chapter out every few days/once a week, TINSITOGS was consistently bumped to the top of AO3′s default view. And some of those first few chapters were altered canon, and transcribing the canon dialogue didn’t take very long. The more views it got, the more people would read it out of sheer curiosity.
I think it also helps that, at least after it started getting some positive feedback (which was honestly after the pre written chapters), I purposely tried to make it ‘not terrible’. I mean, I personally think the first chapter is pretty weak and if it wasn’t somewhat iconic to a lot of people I’d rewrite it. But in general, I purposely tried to make the world of ABO my own, to make it more accessible to those who don’t like that genre, and stay away from the inherently grosser stuff as much as possible. I genuinely do get comments about how I introduced people to the genre as a whole, still not sure if that’s a GOOD thing but hey, it happened.
TINSITOGS turned into a lot more than just a joke. It turned into my favourite hobby. It turned into a research project (honestly, you would not believe the amount of mummy vlogs and legit scientific articles about child development I consumed). It turned into something that, at least I believe, was widely loved.
Meaning
I think it might be wrong to say that I don’t have AN idea of when I started to take the fic super seriously. For me, it was around the time someone commented something along the lines of saying my writing meant a lot to them, that they’d spent all night reading it and had been unable to put it down.
Not to get too dark here, but I do have a past in writing a very long, somewhat popular fic (it’s still on my fanfic net profile if anyone’s interested, but I don’t recommend it). However, in the latter part of my teenage years, the depression struck. Writing was the love of my life, and I couldn’t bring myself to do it anymore. Maybe I’d be able to muster an idea or even a chapter at the best points of that, but I’d never completely finished any story. Starting to write again was a huge step in my recovery, and one of the reasons I convinced myself that life was worth it was being able to impact someone’s life somehow. Even to this day, I still remember the fics I read when I was, like, thirteen. How much I still remember them, and how much they meant to be at the time. I wanted to be that writer for someone else. To be honest, it was actually Yuri!!! On Ice that got me out of the super bad, but I still never wrote anything of real consequence. TINSITOGS was the first time in a long time I actually committed to something.
And, to be completely honest, there were a lot of times I was tired of it, and wanted to just quit. But, the thing was, I felt like people depended on me in a way. I got so many comments that were just FILLED with support, telling me how much they looked forward to every update. It wasn’t just empty words, either, a lot of the times these comments would be super engaged with the actual writing. I can’t even describe just how much they meant to me, how much I would look forward to reading everyone’s opinions. And then discord happened, which was a lot of fun.
TINSITOGS went a lot further than I ever thought it would. There were comments, discussions, fan art, fan FIC (which is honestly incredible to me). Someone even added it to TV Tropes, at one point. Not to mention the Cards Against Humanity deck and quiz It makes me so unbelievably happy that I could inspire that much creativity, but it’s a two way street. It was all of that which inspired me to write, too.
Writing
The only real goal I actually had was aiming for around 3000 words per chapter. I had a whole facebook log of plot points as planning, and I was mostly just trying to expand on them into prose. I honestly thought that, at its completion, the entire fic would be around 100k words, if that. Not, at one point, being literally the longest ass class fic on AO3.
There are a lot of aspects that were directly adapted from the original messages, and I tried to stay faithful to it more so at first, even if I later removed some of the pure crack. But the style was also vaguely similar, with the story being told mostly from Nagisa’s perspective with swaps to Karma when it made sense. All the main plot beats, too, are pretty much identical. The plus to this was I was able to add a lot of really fun foreshadowing, and I feel like it’s a fun reread because of it.
Honestly though, if there’s a demand to release those OG message logs, I will. Mostly because it’s kind of funny, and interesting to see. Isogai and Nagisa were engaged at one point, even.
Obviously, it changed somewhat. 3000 was the minimum length, and the time to completion was whenever it felt right. One of my big concerns was about pacing, so it took a lot more fleshing out and maybe ‘filler’ content for some of the main arcs to work.
There’s parts of TINSITOGS I don’t think aren’t written that well, and some that I’m still super proud of. I think you can definitely tell there’s a gradual shift in style, and I get a lot more comfortable with writing them as characters as it goes along. To be honest, my pride for the fic overall is what it represents.
It is funny to think about the places it got written in, though. I started it when I worked at McDonalds with no life direction, then it went through my first year of university with me. It’s been written in at least four countries. Aeroplanes, night clubs, long haul buses, a train through the Japanese southern coastline. Even the start of covid. TINSITOGS managed to see a lot. I even turned a scene in (the boat scene during the India chapter with altered names) to my university as a legitimate assignment.
There were also a few messages I wanted to achieve, once I realised I had the platform to put them across. One of them was, obviously, ‘use protection kids’. It was important to me that I didn’t glamorise it too much, and I think that came across. I also wanted to dispute some of the issues with ABO, and subvert the consent issues as much as I could. An arc I really ‘liked’ writing was how abuse doesn’t always look the same way, and that it can be a drawn out change in behaviour. How the most important part of ‘being a good parent’ isn’t perfection, but genuinely loving and doing the best you can for your kid. How love doesn’t solve everything, and effective communication can take a very long time to learn and build a functional relationship. I mean, there definitely was a lot I tried to put in, and you’re free to interpret it all how you want. But, I like to think some people learnt some of these things, at least.
Daichi
Honestly, Daichi developed almost of his own free will. I had a good idea of his appearance, and that he was smart. Writing him from birth until around nine years old (older if you read the sequel fic) pretty much allowed that fluidity. It was really fun to explore a nature vs nurture development, and let his own characteristics speak for themselves.
He’ll always have a special place in my heart.
This is the first image I ever made. When I was trying to figure out what Daichi looked like, I honestly just edited Karma’s hair (pretty well, actually? I’m impressed with my past skill). That’s where the ‘he looks just like Karma’ meme kind of came from.
This was the first image I actually created of Daichi. I THINK it was on rinmaru games mega anime creator or something, but it’s literally not available on the internet anymore as far as I can tell, so I can’t double check. This was in the pre-piccrew days. His eyes are closed because they didn’t have the right tone of goldish/silver.
His sister, Kaguya, didn’t even exist originally, even though I decided on that ending pretty early on. Actually, she was going to be called ‘Irina’ due to some hijinks. Initially, when Karma found out about Irina’s pregnancy, she was going to get super emotional and mad at him and basically force him to name his first born daughter after her. Karma agreed to shut her up, never intending to have another child, so when the surprise second child later came along they had to live with the pain. However, to be honest I just forgot to write in the actual scene that set it all up, and I decided against adding it anywhere else. The name Kaguya was a very last minute decision, and it was a chance for me to explore some ideas that didn’t fit with Daichi’s character.
Interestingly too, Daichi and Nao were never intended to be a thing. I only decided that towards the VERY end. Even though the reason I named Nao that was because of a ship I had in a J Drama (Good Morning Call). It just kind of ended up happening because I won myself over with imagining the cute.
The music
I used to write with a lot of background music, though not all the time. Particularly towards the start, there was a lot that didn’t really make sense thematically, yet I would write to a lot.
Here’s a link to the spotify playlist if you want it it’s basically all the ones I noted I’d listened to a lot. Not including the smut ones, though, I have a whole playlist for that.
Some of the notable ones:
Five String Serenade - the first scene I wrote of the entire fic, in Chapter 25 New Year Time where they fell asleep cuddling.
Cosmic Love - when I wrote Nagisa’s love confession scene in hospital (I also wrote this pretty early on)
Northern Downpour (though it was actually a cover by Emma Blackery) - The chapter after Daichi’s born (30)
When The Party’s Over - Confession Time Third Period, Chapter 69. I literally listened to this song on REPEAT when I planned and wrote the kind of ‘break up’ scene, and it’s one of the few parts that made me cry writing.
Turning Page - I know I said no smut, but this song actually gave me the idea to have the “I love you” in chapter 108 be less on a whim and actually more built up. In the original plan, Karma really did just say it without thinking. I’m glad I changed that.
Bury Me Low and Numb - pretty much all I listened to when writing the last few chapters, because Evil Nagisa core. So much so that Bury Me Low was in my top 2020 songs rewind.
As for the title, there’s actually quite a funny story. I had no idea what to call the fic, and when that happens I usually just try and find some song lyrics. I really wanted to use something from ‘October’ by the Broken Bells. Not only because it’s my favourite song (has been for years), but thematically it really worked. The issue was, it worked as the WHOLE song, there were no individual lyrics that captured everything. And, if they did, they didn’t flow very well. And naming the fic ‘October’ would have been weird for a lot of reasons. There Is No Sweeter Innocence That Our Gentle Sin really was just plucked randomly, in a desperate search to find any snappy lyrics from any song that had some kind of meaning. After a bit of discussion, we settled that it kind of worked... if Daichi is innocent and they committed a sin or something. It also wasn’t the most obvious lyric from the song (Take Me To Church if anyone doesn’t know) so I just went with it. It works out, I think, because TINSITOGS turned out to be a pretty good acronym and pronounceable word in its own right.
The merch redbubble drama
It’s a well known fact that I’m not very good at art. However, I decided to try pixel art because it seemed the easiest to not mess up. I made Karma and Nagisa, before deciding to also give Daichi a try.
This, to this day, is the only good quality art of Daichi that I actually own. The only one I’m actually happy sharing and thinking it doesn’t look terrible. As much as I love people sending me fanart, it’s not ‘my property’, right.
So, I was kind of joking about TINSITOGS having merchandise. At first I just made two funny quote things, and uploaded it to redbubble. I was never intending to actually make money from this, and I’d agreed to myself that if I did, I would just donate it to charity. I was joking with the quotes, but since I had this artwork I figured I may as well uploaded. Separately, there was also an image that had pixel Daichi next to pixel Nagisa and Karma (which I also created).
Aside from showing up in a few people’s adverts across the internet, there was no real harm with this. In fact, I didn’t make money anyway. It was just... more the joke of it existing. I did, however, buy myself a Daichi phone case, which is one of my favourite possessions.
The funny ‘drama’ comes in when they got taken down due to copywrite. Sure, the one with Nagisa and Karma, I understand. But the other three literally had no mention or anything to do with Assassination Classroom, aside from being from a fanfiction. So basically, someone who owns those rights claimed my OC as theirs. Which makes Daichi canon? Whatever the case, I found this hilarious don’t worry.
How has TINSITOGS changed my life?
This is quite a strange thing to think about. Because, in a lot of ways, it really hasn’t. As I’m sure a lot of people know, I don’t really consider myself to have any real ‘fame’, despite the impressive numbers. Whenever I tell people in my personal life, they seem to think I’m some sort of internet celebrity, but that’s never been the case for me. I mean, it’s hardly a cultural phenomenon.
In a lot of ways, I’d much rather befriend someone than have them admire me. Possibly because being someone’s inspiration is kind of weird... I’m just an awkward duck who likes to write after all. I don’t mind it, though. I genuinely find it an honour, even if I don’t necessarily agree. I also want to take this time to say that if anyone ever wants to talk or message me, you’re more than free to do so. I’m usually super casual with people who do that, I promise.
TINSITOGS was the first story I ever finished in the way I truly wanted to. Start to end, a full narrative. And it took a LOT. There were so many times I almost felt like quitting, or took super long breaks. For me, ADHD queen, actually finishing something was a huge deal. And I know I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t owe it to everyone who read it, and myself, to see it through. You know like, if I were to die tomorrow, at least I’ve left something behind.
In a lot of ways, it’s changed me for the better. It’s helped me develop my writing styles, and way of thinking. It encouraged me to become more active in the fandom, and develop some important friendships. I always feel like my Tumblr and Fanfiction ‘known’ factor is separate. I think most of my Tumblr following is more to do with my theories/Japanese context research if anything, for example, but I know I wouldn’t be so interested in that if TINSITOGS hadn’t lead me to deeply examine character and really look into analysing source material for clues. I also think there’s just... a lot of myself in it.
I was 17 years old, when I first came up with the idea. I finished the story when I was 20. Now, at the time of writing, I’m 21. That time has seen some pretty significant changes - just in general life facts and my own personal human development. For me at least, a lot of that was pretty turbulent, and TINSITOGS stands as a time capsule for that, in a way.
I know I gained a lot of confidence, and it affirmed to me that writing is what I love. Telling stories and sharing them is what I love.
Conclusion
Do I think TINSITOGS is an outstanding piece of writing, or the best fic ever? No. I really don’t. It’s strange to say because I definitely spent a lot of time on it, but it’s not like I put my full unbridled efforts into the story. I don’t fully plan, use a beta, or even read through on my own. And that’s okay - that’s not what I write fanfiction for. Fanfiction is my place to have fun with characters and stories I like, without the pressures of having to stand on my own complete originality. Yes, I’m fully confident that I can write at a “higher quality”, if I really wanted to. I’m also aware that some authors put their full effort into their fics, and that’s just as valid!
It feels odd to say this about my own writing, but I honestly think there’s just something in this story. It might not be written in the best prose ever, and the premise might be kind of dumb for a lot of people. But, I think, there’s some part of this fic that managed to grab people. Somehow, at some point, many readers get captured into the emotions and so drawn in that ‘they just have to finish it now!’ Again, I’m not sure myself how I actually achieved that. Of course, that won’t apply to everyone, but I do feel there’s some truth in it. And it makes me happy, to have caused that.
If TINSITOGS is your favourite fic, or if you genuinely think it’s the best story you’ve read, then thank you. I really appreciate your support, and I’m happy to have been a part of your life, I guess. I know how much fanfics can mean to a person, and that’s why I’m not going to take it down, or edit it at all. And it’s fine too, if you loved the fic for a while and moved on -i t happens. Whatever the case, I’m very honoured to have been able to occupy a moment of your life. Or if you find this fic in 10 years time, even, I still wholly appreciate you.
This story was incredibly important to me, and thank you for reading if it was ever important to you too.
You may ask, what now? Well, this is only intended to be a detailed look back for whoever’s interested, and it’s likely the only one I’ll actually do, a year after completion. Of course, if you ever want to ask me anything or just discuss the story, you’re honestly good to contact me in whatever way I have available.
I’m still writing my ongoing stories, of course, despite taking a small break due to the university work load. I fully intend to complete the stories I’ve already started to tell, at least. After that... I’m not sure if I’ll still write fanfiction. Don’t panic, this isn’t a ‘I’m quitting writing’ thing. I may, however, have bled the Karmagisa genre a bit too dry at that point. Who knows? I am pretty interested in writing something original for once, so maybe that’ll work out.
For now, at least, thank you to anyone who read this fic. To anyone who commented, liked, or interacted with me over it. To anyone who created or learnt from it. I’m really glad that I got to share this story with you all, and ultimately left some kind of mark, no matter how big or small.
Happy birthday, TINSITOGS. I had a lot of fun writing you.

Pleasant Distractions
Pairing: Karmagisa
“Heeeyy, Nagisaaa,” Karma whined, draping his body over Nagisa’s back like a second coat and wrapping his arms around the shorter boy’s chest with a pout, “Come ooon. Hang out with meee.”
With a roll of his eyes, Nagisa turned back to his science textbook and resumed reading, doing his best to ignore the distracting noises that Karma was emitting.
An ionic compound is a giant structure of ions
“Nagisa.” He could feel tapping on his shoulder.
Strong electrostatic forces of attraction between oppositely charged ions hold ionic compounds together
“Hey, Nagisa.” The tapping became more rapid.
These forces, called ionic bonding, act in all directions in the lattice
“Naaagggiii-“
Nagisa snapped his book shut and let it rest on his crossed legs. He turned his head to look at the pouting redhead behind him, “Karma, we need to study for the test we have next week. The whole reason I agreed to come to your house in the first place was because you agreed to have a study session with me.”
“But I already know everything.”
“Well I don’t,” Nagisa retorted, “if you’re not gonna help me revise, can you at least do something quietly by yourself. I swear, if you distract me one more time, I’ll leave.”
At the other’s words, Karma immediately tightened his hold around his waist and pulled him closer to his chest so that he could drop his head against the crook of Nagisa’s neck. He murmured, “I just want to spend time with my little viper. Is that too much to ask?”
Nagisa reached his hand up to pet the red strands that made up Karma’s hair and replied with a smile, “I already see you everyday at school.”
“Yeah,” Nagisa shivered at the tingling sensation that was caused by the movement of Karma’s lips on the junction of his neck and collarbone, “but I wanna spend more time with you now. Besides we can’t do any of the fun stuff in class.”
“‘Fun stuff’?”
“Yeah, you know: kissing, making out, mouth to mouth..”
“Karma!” Nagisa whisper-yelled, blushing madly, “I really do need to study.”
“You’ve been studying for ages. At least take a snack break.”
Nagisa sighed, knowing that his boyfriend wouldn’t be letting this go anytime soon and just not having the energy to deal with Karma when he’s in his ‘whining-mode’, “Alright, fine. Just for five minutes, though.”
Keeping his hold on the smaller boy with one arm, Karma leaned sideways to grab a shopping bag that lay discarded beside them and riffled through its contents. With a smirk he offered a small muffin that was contained in plastic packaging, “blueberry muffin for my blueberry muffin?”
Nagisa rolled his eyes in response then tore open the packaging to retrieve the treat inside and took a bite, giving a pleased moan and the taste of sharp, sweet blueberries and fluffy muffin.
“Hey Nagisa,” with an answering hum, he turned towards Karma, “you’ve got a little something right here.”
Nagisa blushed when he felt Karma’s warm hands cup the entirety of his cheek so that he could brush away stray crumbs (that he knew for sure didn’t even exist) with the side of his thumb. Unconsciously, he melted into the touch, feeling soft and giddy at the tingling shots of fuzziness that ran up his spine at the way Karma’s eyes seemed to soften. It was so unfair how he could become all malleable with only a single touch from Karma, how he always ends up giving in because he does not want this to become a habit, damnit. He could feel his resistance dissipating as Karma grabbed one of his shoulders to turn him around so that they were now face to face and he knew he had to act quickly before he lost the little control he had. However, to be fair, if things did go the way that he knew that Karma was planning for them to, he wasn’t a hundred percent certain that he’d actually be too upset…
But still, he used all of his energy to lean away, despite every neuron telling him to stay in that safe hold that always provided warmth and comfort and protection, “I need to study.”
“I know,” Karma’s smile was far too innocent for his liking, “which is why I’ve decided to help you.”
“Really?” he couldn’t keep the suspicion out of his tone if he tried.
“Yep,” the red-head replied, popping the ‘p’, “only I’m not gonna help you study for science.”
He knew it, “okay then. What are you going to help me study for?”
“Something far more interesting,” Karma’s smirk turned devilish and all of a sudden, Nagisa felt like the little mouse that was begging the lion for mercy from that book of Aesop’s Fables he used to read as a kid. The taller boy leaned in, grabbing a fistful of the fabric under the collar of Nagisa’s shirt to tug him closer, and whispered into his ear, “how would you like to become a prodigy in B*tch-Sensei’s class?”
Nagisa’s ponytail shot up, ruffled, as his flustered face blossomed red. He placed his palms on Karma’s chest in a feeble attempt to push him away, “I-I really don’t think I need to study for that.”
Karma’s eyes glinted, “Oh really, why’s that, Nagi? You think that you’re already good at it?”
“N-n-no,” he stammered, his face burning like an inferno, “I-I just don’t think that it’s necessary, you-you know? It-it’s just that high-high schools don’t exactly have that stuff in their entrance exams, r-right?”
Karma let out a thoughtful hum as he buried his face into the curve of Nagisa’s neck, goosebumps ran through Nagisa’s arms as he whispered, “sounds like you’re making excuses, Nagi.”
“I-I-”
Karma kissed his cheek, murmuring against the soft flesh of his boyfriend’s cheek, “come on, Nagisa. I know you want to~”
Loki Odinson, give him strength.
“Karma,” he said, gulping slightly at the way the other’s golden irises pinned him down when he leaned back.
Karma took hold of his chin, “Yes, Nagisa.”
“I-I suppose that maybe a small break wouldn’t be too bad.”
Karma’s mouth twisted into a Cheshire Cat grin and all Nagisa could see was a flash of gold before every sense was consumed by the red haired devil incarnate with one arm wrapped around his back and the other on his cheek, with the cloth of his crimson button up scrunched up in Nagisa’s hand, with the increasing pressure of their lips pressing each other. Nagisa’s eyes slid closed as he let Karma take the lead, getting lost in the way everything just flowed like things always did when he was with Karma, in the way everything just felt so right as Karma angled his head so that he could kiss deeper. Nagisa could feel Karma’s hand crawl up the back of his head and hook his fingers inside the curve of the hair band that sat at the base of his ponytail before swiftly pulling it down in one smooth move, causing long strands of cerulean to unfurl downwards like a cataract of silky blue locks. Getting breathless, Nagisa used whatever strength he could muster to push himself back so that he didn’t pass out completely. They both looked at each other for a split second before the magnetic force they felt inside them increased in magnitude and they found themselves kissing once again and -
Nagisa gasped when he felt his back roughly hit the floor, wincing slightly at the loud thump it made. His head was still spinning and he looked up at Karma, who was towering above him with his palms on either side of Nagisa’s shoulders. Whilst his face was slightly pink, his eyes held concern, “sorry Nagisa. I got a bit excited there. You’re not hurt are you?”
“I’m fine,” Nagisa laughed breathlessly. He tried to get up but found that he was still too dizzy so he flopped back onto the floor again with a groan, “and here I thought I’d get some studying done.”
All he could hear was Karma’s deep chuckles before he felt himself get carried into a bridal style and deposited onto the taller boy’s bed. When Karma laid himself next to him and gathered him into an embrace, he said, “if I fail, I’m not coming to your house for at least another two weeks.”
“And people say I’m the mean one,” Karma said, apparently unbothered by his threat, “Guess I’ll just have to kidnap you and wait for the stockholm syndrome to settle in.”
“Karma!”
“Okay, okay. Just five minutes alright. We can both start revising for the octopus’ stupid test then.”
“We were both supposed to revise anyway! But alright, if it’s just for five minutes then it’s okay.”
They did not get up after five minutes.

Karmagisa week 7: celebration (Happy Birthday Nagisa!)
“I don’t like where this is going.” Nagisa said as he held his hands forward to try and feel his surroundings. Normally he’d have a simple look around and then decide he’d want to leave a place or could tolerate but right now that option was taken from him because Karma had blindfolded him. Usually he wouldn’t let Karma 10 feet close to him with a blindfold in hand but Karma pleaded to him to go along with it to keep his birthday surprise an actual surprise. It was july 20th and therefore indeed Nagisa’s birthday.
“try and guess where you are and i’ll take the blindfold off.” Karma said as he led Nagisa inside a building. “Like, try and smell your surroundings or something. isn’t your sense of smell increased because you can’t see?” he asked.
Nagisa sighed and tried to determine what he was smelling. “I can only smell your deodorant.” he complained. He felt Karma’s hands let go of him and was filled with a slight anxiety for a few seconds. He really wasn’t a fan of not knowing what was going on.
“What do you smell now?” Karma asked, his voice sounding further away than before. Nagisa did indeed no longer smell his deodorant but wasn’t sure what it was he was actually surrounded by.
He turned around a bit, even though that was pretty much useless when he couldn’t see. He felt around a bit again in the hope of something being around him he could hold onto or at least hoped he wouldn’t bump into something. “I don’t know… sweat? something that reminds me of those fries we got yesterday… smoke?” He was slightly confused what he was supposed to conclude from that.
“Close enough” He heard Karma’s voice say and soon he felt the other boy’s hand taking off the blindfold. Once it was off Nagisa took the time to blink a few times and get used to the sudden neon lights his eyes desperately needed adjusting to.
“Lasertag?” Nagisa stated as he finally recognized his surroundings. The bright neon lights came from the lasertag area where those were the only lights lighting up the smoke filled room. The smoke explained the smell from earlier and he could imagine where the sweat came from. There wasn’t anyone playing right now but he could still hear the remix of songs he’d heard enough times on the radio upgraded with a futuristic esque beat playing.
He looked at Karma to see what his reaction was and apparently that was to smile at Nagisa. “You said you had nothing planned for your birthday so we decided to all go do something together.” He explained. “The rest of the class will be here soon enough.”
The class did show up and Nagisa awkwardly took everyone’s birthday wishes. He hadn’t really been prepared for a party or anything and he wasn’t used to having any. In previous years he also never really planned anything for his birthday, it seemed to him like he’d bother people by making them feel it was necessary to show up.
Nagisa had put on the harness which his opponent could shoot on and was helping Kayano putting on hers. “It’s really nice of Karma to organise this for you, right?” She smiled at him. “I mean he said you never hold parties.”
Nagisa looked at her confused. “I don’t, no…” He said. “But I thought the entire class organised this?” Kayano looked surprised at the boy as he said that. The both of them looked in Karma’s direction. He was playing around with one of the guns and when he noticed them staring smiled and waved at Nagisa.
“Why wouldn’t he take credit, he’s doing this for you.” Kayano thought out loud.
Eventually they entered the playing area and waited for the countdown to signal they could start. Everyone had taken places all over the room but not everyone had completely hidden themselves so they could talk to their friends for a bit.
Nagisa stood next to Karma for a bit and eventually cleared his throat. “Is it true?” He asked. “did you really put effort into organising this for me?” He looked up at Karma seeing as he was slightly taller than him. He wasn’t really sure what kind of answer he was hoping for as he asked it but he knew he needed the answer.
Karma looked down at him and quickly looked away, but Nagisa saw some red spread over his cheeks. “You said you never did birthday parties and I just wanted you to have a cool one.” He said as he was still looking away. A signal was given that the countdown was about to start and he held his gun ready. “So you better enjoy it.”
Nagisa smiled a little to himself, thinking he was oddly happy Karma would go through the effort for him. “Well, don’t just let me win. Give me everything you got.” He said as poked Karma’s side and ran off to hide. If he was meant to be having fun he was going to give it everything he got to win this thing. It’s not like his assassin skills couldn’t come in handy to shoot as many people as possible.
Nagisa was well hidden most of the game and would randomly roll out to shoot one of his classmates and then proceed to the next hiding spot. At some point he noticed the terasaka squad teaming up together and jumped out of his hiding place to shoot all of them before running behind an obstacle as they followed him. Before they could turn the corner and find him he climbed on top and jumped off at the other side, looking for a new spot.
They were in the last five minutes of the game when he heard something behind him. He turned around as fast as he could and saw Karma, about to shoot him. Before he could Nagisa hid behind a corner. He wasn’t aware of Hayami being behind that corner and instead got shot by her.
He had run off and eventually saw Karma again. He didn’t want this game to end without hitting him once so as the speakers announced the countdown he realised he had only ten seconds. He pushed himself away from a wall and sprinted towards hit friend. Karma turned around and wanted to shoot and hide but before he could Nagisa fired his shot, Karma’s harness lighting up an clarifying Nagisa had hit his target. and with that the match was over.
Afterwards they all went to eat together at a fast food place close to the laser tag hall. They were all talking about the match and of course about Nagisa’s great victory. He had hit almost everyone in the class at least once, and all of them had had assassination training.
“Actually this was my first time playing laser tag.” Nagisa admitted, much to everyone’s surprise. He smiled at the group reassuring them it was true. “I never had enough people to go with...” He admitted shyly which earned him a head rub from Karma who was sitting next to him. The conversations went on and eventually Karma leaned towards Nagisa.
“You weren’t lying about going all out.” He said, portraying a proud smile on his face. Nagisa couldn’t help but blush about how close Karma and his’s faces were.
Nagisa shrugged lightly and smiled at his friend. “Thank you for doing this, I’ve had more fun than I’ve had any other birthday so far.” He admitted. He thought back to his previous birthdays and noticed something was always wrong: He didn’t have enough friends to invite, His mother got angry and cancelled his party, people were too bored or people just didn’t show up at all. He finally did feel he had good people surrounding him this year.
“I’d be happy to do it again.” Karma said. “I really like seeing you happy, and I like being the cause of it.” And that comment earned him a kiss on the cheek from Nagisa.
“I don’t mind you being the cause.” He confessed and he went back to eating his fries, ignoring the surprised calls from the friends around them.

The world needs more Karmagisa! Can i request a little drabble? Karma invites Nagisa to the cinema. In the course of the evening, Nagisa realizes that Karma is somehow different than usual. He pays the whole night and behaves almost like a gentleman. Suddenly Nagisa realizes that it's not a simple meeting between friends, its a date?!
Of course you can!
-
-
-
Nagisa laid on his bed, staring at his ceiling. He had nothing to do, his mother was out, and they had the week off for golden week. Nagisa closed his eyes for a moment, basking in the comfort of the peace and quiet. That was, until his phone rang. He sat up in a hurry and grabbed his phone. ‘Karma’ the contact read. Nagisa looked at his phone in confusion. Why was Karma calling him at 6:00 PM?
“Hello?” Nagisa asked in a confused tone.
“Ah! Nagisa! There’s this movie I wanna see, do you wanna come?”
Nagisa was in shock for a second. Karma usually never left his house, unless it was to torment someone. He quickly obliged and made sure to get dressed and headed out the door.
“Hey Nagisa!” Karma called when he saw him approaching the cinema.
“Hey Karma! How has your week been?” He asked casually. Karma’s eyes darted to the side as he talked to him.
They walked into the cinema together. Karma was taking charge of everything. He paid for the tickets, paid for the popcorn and drinks, he paid for everything. Nagisa was confused as to why he was paying for everything.
“Hey Karma, you don’t need to pay for everything. Ill make sure to pay you back, I feel bad not paying for anything.”
Karma’s face flushed into a deep red “It’s no problem. I just wanted to waste some money, ya know?”
Nagisa was confused, but brushed it off. They sat down in their seats and waited for the movie to start. The two engaged in some casual conversation as they waited for the movie to start. Once the lights dimmed, they both payed attention to the movie. Nagisa’s mind still churned with ideas as to why his best friend was being so nice to him. Then a weird thought crossed his mind.
“Is this a date?”
Nagisa’s face flushed. There is no way this could be a date. Karma was his best friend, nothing more. But it was the only thing that made sense
The movie ended and the two walked out side by side. Before the two went their separate ways for the evening, Nagisa had to get something off his chest.
“Hey Karma” Nagisa said, looking down at his feet.”I had fun on this date..”
Karma’s eyes widened. “You realized?” He said, his face beet red
Nagisa laughed. “Yeah, I did. Let’s do it again sometime”

Sunday delivery, Karmagisa!
So for my first Sunday delivery, and to kick off the beginning of Karmagisa week 2022, I'm gonna talk about my favorite ship, my first ship, and in my opinion, the best ship.
Karmagisa!
I didn't know what a ship was until Assassination Classroom, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with these two both as individuals and together. They really and truly balance each other out when you get down to it. To explain, I'm going to use something I think most will get the wrong idea about, but know that this isn't meant to be an NSFW post. Just like the DND alignment and love languages can be used to understand a character, there are a lot of valuable dynamic observations to be made using the BDSM archetypes. Again, this is used to describe their dynamics with each other, not their kinks, and I feel it is the best way to describe why I think they're perfect for each other, so please bear with me.
Short explanation of the archetypes, there are controller roles and controllee roles for each dynamic and each dynamic is different.
Karma is a brat, which means he likes to break the rules and test the limits, but all in good fun. This is a controllee role. Most often though, he's seen as a sadist, a controller role, which means he likes to torment, punish, prank, tease, embarrass and in some cases hurt people. (Think bloodlust.) Quite often, he's the sadist, but we still see him in the background just minding his own business, throwing in a witty comment or two to see how much it messes with people, because he's a brat.
Now Nagisa is a sub, which I'm sure surprises no one, and it's a controllee role. Subs like rules, people taking the lead, people making decisions, and they'd rather be the support. That doesn't mean he can't make his own decisions, but he prefers when others handle things so they can just follow. This matches Karma's sadist in terms of power dynamics and balances out Karma's brat, a lack of rules. However, I also think that Nagisa is a sadist himself, because of his bloodlust.
As far as his overall dynamic with Karma, this means he's not afraid to stop Karma when he goes too far, even taking the controller position because that's what Karma needs. The sadist part makes them understand each other on a deep level, because they both get it. They both understand the bloodlust. And in episodes like Discord Time when both of their sadist sides come out, it's almost fun for them. A fight. A game. A challenge. Nagisa needs the brat (lack of rules) in Karma as much as Karma needs the sub (rules and limits) in Nagisa. It's perfect. And I've yet to find anything else that matches so well.
So that's my ship analysis. If you'd like me to expound on more, let me know with a comment or ask. Today is ship day and I'm willing to talk about Karmagisa all day! Or any day, for that matter. 😊
(If you're interested in learning more about how I use the BDSM archetypes to understand characters, let me know. I know it's weird and uncommon to use them for anything other than describing sexual kinks, but I do believe they're quite insightful when used in this way.)

5, 14 and 19 for the AO3 wrapped ask, if it’s okay.
5 - What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
I guess it depends on what you mean by feedback, but it's the same fic either way. Life in Retail has the most comments and kudos of all my works so far, and if feedback is defined as helpful advice, that also wins. I really do appreciate all the feedback you give me about how things are done in Japan and such. It's really helpful and not everyone has access to someone who's lived there or been there for longer than just a vacation, so thanks!
14 - What’s your shortest work of the year?
If we're going by word count, it's the Sun and Moon poem I did for Karmagisa week (32 words). My shortest multichapter fic, however, was In the Shadow of Death, which I really enjoyed (4906 words).
19 - What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
I've been planning it over a year now, but I'm really looking forward to my take on Karmanami next year. 😏 Should happen over the summer and I got the idea back in November of last year. It's fun to look back and see how long I've been planning stuff. XD
Thank you for the asks, Jackie! 💙

Colours of Summer
Karmagisa Week 2021 day 7 prompt: colours wordcount: 2418
basically: a collection of short scenes occuring on one hot summer day with Karmagisa, based on colours and summer objects. (might be extended some time after Karmagisa week, on AO3)
---------------------------------------- --Pink Swimming Trunks--
“What. is. that?” Karma uttered.
Nagisa sighed in response, turning a little red in the face, but hiding most of his embarrassment by avoiding eye contact. The object of embarrassment? the soft pink swimming trunks he was now wearing. Karma had never seen his boyfriend wearing them, and he didn’t think Nagisa ever would. Nagisa had a bad relationship with the colour pink.
“T-they’re supposed to be white,” Nagisa explained, “My mom washed them but accidentally mixed some laundry and-”
“You’re kidding me,” Karma started laughing, “What kind of cliched tv trope shit is this?”
Nagisa didn’t respond to that, instead walked past his boyfriend to put on the white shirt he’d brought for himself. Karma did the same, not wishing to travel all the way to the beach shirtless, but he was still laughing as he did so. At least he tried to do it quietly.
Eventually, he had enough of their silence. He turned to his boyfriend again, who was now putting food into their bag, and walked up to him. He threw his arms around him, hugging him from the back, and rested his chin on his head. The height difference made this a very simple gesture for him. Although, he was sure Nagisa wasn’t that big of a fan of the reminder that he was small.
“Pink still looks good on you,” Karma said, as a form of apology.
At first, Nagisa didn’t say anything. He just stood there accepting the embrace. Eventually there was a sigh, a shuffling of shoulders, and a soft humm. Karma knew that pretty much meant forgiveness. Still, he kept the other boy in his embrace. Well, with Karma’s superior power it was also a bit like a form of restraining the smaller boy.
“Come on,” Karma finally said, “We have a hot summer’s day to waste.”
--Blue Water--
Nagisa had been standing on the edge of the water for a while now, hesitating going in. Every once in a while, he stuck his leg out when the high tide came close enough to him, carefully trying out the water’s temperature. Every single time, he shrunk together slightly, and moved back a few small steps. Karma was getting a little sick of waiting.
“Can you come in already?” He complained, “the water is really nice once you actually get used to it.”
A difficult look appeared on Nagisa’s face. It appeared he was considering his options. Really, there wasn’t much to consider. They’d traveled all this way to have a fun beach day, at some point Nagisa would have to get in the water. Stalling it would only make it worse. For someone who complained so much about the hot weather, Nagisa sure was being petty about a little cold water. He should just get in and feel refreshed.
Karma looked over his shoulder, taking in the view of the sea stretching all the way to the horizon. The blue sea was shimmering, reflecting the sun’s light, and shining in Karma’s eyes. When he turned around there was no sun irritatingly blinding him. Instead, he saw Nagisa once again jumping away from the water.
“If you don’t get in now, I’m going to drag you in here myself,” Karma threatened.
Nagisa pursed his lips, looked down at the water, and took a moment to consider the threat. Of course, Karma knew he was serious, but he figured Nagisa knew it too. This was the kind of action Karma was very prone to: annoying and physical. Still, Nagisa was one of the few people capable of escaping these situations. Basically, he could ‘cute’ his way out of it. Karma was always a little weak to his boyfriend’s charms. So, Nagisa just stood there. He didn’t make any move indicating he was going to get in the water.
Karma looked him in the eye, trying to send him a warning glare. Nagisa, in response, just put a slight smile on his face. There was no denying for Karma that Nagisa looked pretty and soft right there, however, there was also no denying Nagisa just had to get in the damn water.
“Do I need to count down?” Karma asked, as if he was talking to a toddler.
Nagisa rolled his eyes. “I’m not eight.”
For a second, Karma considered his next comment. He decided to not go for the comeback, trying to somewhat stay on his boyfriend’s good side. Then again, if he did really drag Nagisa into the water, that would be ruined anyways. To be fair, that would be laughed off. A comment about Nagisa perhaps looking like an eight year old was something Nagisa was a little more sensitive about.
“3” Karma started counting.
Nagisa squinted for a second, but then crossed his arms, standing by his decision to annoy Karma, apparently. That wasn’t going to stop Karma just yet.
“2”
Nagisa looked away for less than a second, before looking back at Karma. Most likely, he was considering whether Karma was being serious.
“1”
Nagisa still stood there. It appeared he was not getting into the water of his own accord.
“zero, okay here we go.”
Karma moved forwards, quickly running towards his boyfriend with water splashing at his side. Nagisa barely had any time to react, making an attempt to turn around and run away, but he was just a little too slow to escape Karma. Karma held his arms open wide and embraced his boyfriend, entangling his arms in there as well, but instead of making it some kind of hug, just picked him up.
At first Nagisa just yelped, confused about what had just happened. Then, he started kicking, trying to wiggle himself free from his boyfriend’s grip. There were some noises of complaint, but Karma ignored those. The grip he had was tight and just a tad too powerful for Nagisa to escape.
He walked back into the water until it came up to his knees. With the struggling Nagisa still in his grip, he took a ready stance. His lips were curled into a mischievous smirk. He was excited for this part.
All of a sudden, he dropped Nagisa. Well.. dropped… It was more like he threw the other boy into the water. Nagisa yelled and, with a big splash, landed in the water. After struggling for just a short moment, he sat up, shoulders and up above the water. The look on his face spoke of dissatisfaction.
Karma, on the other hand, just laughed.
“And now you’re in!” He announced.
Before he knew it, Nagisa had gotten up. With inhuman speed, he moved around Karma, hooking his leg around his, and used his hands to push him over. Karma was being tackled. He made an attempt to save himself but, sadly, Nagisa’s tackle was pretty waterproof. Karma, on the other hand, wasn’t waterproof, and landed in the water with a splash.
When he came up again, he had a challenging smile on his face. One look at Nagisa confirmed he was feeling the same. His boyfriend looked proud, but not entirely done with their insignificant battle. It also, to Karma at least, looked a little hot.
“That's how we’re going to play this, huh?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Depends,” Nagisa shrugged, “Are you ready to fight a battle you can’t win.”
There was no malicious intent in either of their words. Both of them had meant it in a playful manner, and both thrived on the friendly competition between the two of them. So, yes, Karma was more than intrigued by Nagisa’s sudden cockiness. He had to make sure he got rid of that arrogant smile on Nagisa’s face.
“Game on.”
--Red Burnt Skin--
When they’d gotten back to Karma’s place late in the afternoon, nothing but complaints left Karma’s mouth. His skin was burning red, slight patches of white skin visible on places that had been covered during the day. The contrast was great, and so was the pain.
“My skin is going to burn off,” Karma grumbled.
“No it’s not,” Nagisa spoke matter of factly, “and I feel like this is the perfect time for an ‘I told you so.’”
Karma just grumbled, really not up for that discussion. As he fell down on his couch, his skin rubbed slightly against a pillow with a more rough fabric, and he felt himself cringe all throughout. He pouted, trying to gain pity attention from his boyfriend.
That attention didn’t appear to be happening. Nagisa was just unpacking some empty food containers from their bag, focused as he stacked them up in an attempt to bring all of them to the kitchen in one go. From the look on his face, one would say he wasn’t too bothered about his boyfriend’s pain. Karma, being said pained boyfriend, wasn’t a fan of that.
“Nagisa~” His voice came out in a singsong manner, “Don’t be mean, I’m suffering.”
When Nagisa turned around to look at him, the look in his eyes spoke of book volumes. On a surface level, he looked unimpressed, eyebrows raised as he looked down at Karma laid down on the couch. In his eyes was also a hint of disappointment. Karma had grown rather familiar with that particular look, so he was one of the few people who could read past the bigger emotions Nagisa portrayed on his face. Yes, he knew Nagisa very well, and he knew Nagisa thought that Karma was overreacting.
“I got a little burnt too,” Nagisa argued.
“You didn’t get sunburned,” Karma complained, “You got sun kissed.”
Karma couldn’t help but be a little grumpy about it all. Although there was some truth to Nagisa’s words, a little sunscreen like his boyfriend had used would have been wise, it still felt unfair how easily Karma burnt in the sun compared to Nagisa. Even without the sunscreen, Nagisa barely tanned. Meanwhile Karma had to live like a lobster.
“I have some aloe vera,” Nagisa offered with an annoyingly caring tone, “Do you want me to put some on your shoulders?”
“... yes please.”
--Orange Sunset--
Nagisa poked Karma’s bright red arm, earning a groaned response from him. He was still a little grumpy over the whole sunburn ordeal, but at the very least he had now somewhat cooled down due to the aloe vera Nagisa had been so gracious to share with him. So, the complaining had stopped, and Nagisa suggested going on a walk to end their long day. To Karma, ending a long day with another physical activity was a little weird, considering it just made the day longer, but Nagisa seemed really eager to go outside again, so he opted to not complain about it.
It was a rather enjoyable walk. Nagisa talked throughout most of it, Karma only interjecting a few times with a funny side comment or fact Nagisa wasn’t aware of yet, and that was just fine. Karma liked hearing Nagisa’s rambling. The enthusiasm in Nagisa’s voice as he described a particularly spectacular scene in an action movie he’d recently seen was cute. Why would Karma ever complain about seeing Nagisa happy?
“Oh woah,” Nagisa suddenly interrupted himself mid-story, “The sky looks so cool right now.”
The sky they were looking at was in fact very pretty, Karma had to agree. Above them, an orange colour had started to spread out, becoming a deeper version of its own colour as their eyes were directed towards the horizon. The sun, another shade of orange, was about halfway down by now, yet still illuminated the world very well. Just like the rest of the day, there were no clouds to interrupt the bright colours of the sky.
When Karma looked back at Nagisa, he noted that the orange lighting of the sunset was more than a little flattering on the boy. His skin was touched by the light, changing its tone and making him appear like he was gold. If Karma didn’t know better, he would say Nagisa looked like a god.
Except, he knew better, and Nagisa would respond awkwardly to that statement. He wouldn’t know what to say and just stammer his way through. On any other occasion, Karma would have made the comment, considering he enjoyed teasing his boyfriend. At that moment, however, he didn’t feel like ruining the moment.
“It’s pretty,” was all Karma said.
Nagisa seemed a little taken back by the comment. “That’s all? Just pretty?”
“Well, it is.”
“Not even a ‘like you’ comment?”
“Are we fishing for compliments now, Nagisa?”
Nagisa turned red, although his cheeks had already been the crimson colour because of the day’s worth of sun. He looked away from Karma, a slight pout on his face and a loss for words. It was a common, yet still amusing, sight. So, Karma just laughed at him. That was his usual response.
“I didn’t mean it that way!” Nagisa defended himself, “I-I meant it like-”
Karma just held up his hand, interrupting the other boy’s explanation. He didn’t need a stuttering explanation of something Karma fully understood. He’d been joking, obviously. There had been so many occasions where Karma had made the exact joke Nagisa had been referring to, so he couldn’t exactly blame Nagisa for almost expecting it. It had been the perfect set up, actually.
Instead, he turned to look at the sunset again, admiring its beauty and the moment it was creating for him. As cheesy as it all was, he really did feel the need to share that moment with Nagisa. Sunsets were, perhaps, a little overdone as a romantic setting, however, it still worked so well. Why fix what wasn’t broken? Why not use this moment for his own cheesy gains?
Nagisa seemed to share that sentiment, because the moment Karma held his hand closer to his boyfriend, he immediately grabbed hold of it. They swung their entangled hands about for a bit in silence, watching the sun slowly disappear down into something unknown. Behind them, the sky had already started turning a darker shade of blue, but that didn’t matter to them. The approaching darkness wasn’t the thing they were focused on in that moment.
With the last rays of sunshine still hitting their face, Karma turned to Nagisa, pulling his boyfriend closer to him. One hand went to hold Nagisa’s cheek as he moved forwards and connected their lips. Their kiss went on until the sun was completely down, darkness slowly falling over the world, and the summer’s day had finally ended.

Star Signs and Loving Gestures
Karmagisa week 2021 day 4 prompt: Stars AKA: stargazing date
wordcount: 1693 (may be posted to AO3 later)
----------------------------------
Karma had thought of pretty much everything. When he’d initially informed Nagisa of the stargazing date he’d planned, he figured it would be a mess like many of their dates ended up being. Something as simple and intimate as stargazing was something that didn’t come natural to Karma and Nagisa. Sure, they’d ended up cuddling together and watching the sky before, but it had been spontaneous, and not the entire date.
Yet, there they were, laying down on a blanket on a small grass field, bodies as close to each other as was possible while still remaining comfortable. Karma had remembered to bring food and drinks, even being so responsible as to make one of those options fruit. Nagisa appreciated that. As nice as unhealthy snacks were, he was the kind of person to eat a lot of fruit just because he enjoyed it. Karma had made fun of him for that before.
“Can you pass me a strawberry?” Karma asked, pointing towards a container just out of his reach.
Nagisa handed it to him with a smile, “Being healthy?”
“No,” Karma scoffed, “I brought nutella to dip it in. Literal heaven.”
Yeah, that was just about what Nagisa expected. It wasn’t like Karma never ate fruit, when it came to strawberries he almost seemed addicted at times, but this wasn’t the time of day for his boyfriend to pull up the healthy options. Nights to Karma Akabane menat snacking and gaming time, where convenience went above health.
It didn’t matter, just meant there was more fruit for Nagisa. And that’s what was most important. Karma had brought it for him. It was nice and considerate of him. He couldn’t help but feel just so happy in that moment, knowing how in love he was with his boyfriend and how much he loved him back, with a nice starry sky to decorate their evening.
“It’s so pretty,” Nagisa sighed, unsure if it was just a thought or something he wanted Karma to know, “yet so simple looking at the same time.”
It was a clear night, warm and comfortable, in the middle of the summer. The day had been terrible, but that was over now. The sun had taken the worst of the heat with it as it had gone down. Now, all was perfect. The star were visible, and Nagisa was comfortable in simple jeans and a t-shirt. He’d brought a jacket, still, just to be sure.
“How cute and romantic would it have been if I looked up romantic stories written in the stars beforehand?” Karma asked, “In the constellations, I mean.”
“But you didn’t?”
“Hell no.”
Nagisa shook his head, laughing ever so slightly. This was just about what he was used to from his boyfriend. Not that he minded, it was part of this very specific charm Nagisa had grown to love. Besides, he’d put in enough effort in planning the rest of the date. He could deal with no romantic stories in the stars.
“I can tell you about zodiac star signs though.” Karma added.
“What?” Nagisa looked confused, “Like when you’re born and stuff?”
“Yeah, well,” Karma shrugged, “I can point some of them out in the sky, if you want.”
It sounded interesting enough to Nagisa. He was a little surprised Karma had done enough stargazing to be able to find the zodiacs. Then again, he did say he could point out “some,” so perhaps he only knew a few. Nagisa wondered which ones he knew.
So, he let Karma talk, point at the sky, and explain which signs were where. It was a little confusing at times. Nagisa recognized a few of them, although he was unable to locate them in the sky himself, but sometimes seeing the patterns in them was a little hard. When Karma was pointing out capricorn, his own birth sign, Nagisa was just full on confused.
“Am I supposed to see a goat in that?” He asked.
“A sea goat, yes.” Karma nodded. The way he said it made it sound like he thought he’d said something logical.
To Nagisa, it had been the furthest off from that. In what universe did the words “sea goat” make sense colloquially? Last Nagisa checked, goats didn’t live in the sea.
“first of all, sea goats aren’t a thing,” Nagisa spoke matter of factly, “Second, that is a triangle.”
Now, Karma shook his head. He rolled his eyes, a gesture Nagisa didn’t appreciate, and then returned looking his boyfriend in the eyes. The look in his eyes was as stupid as his gesture had been. He looked like he was patronizing Nagisa. Nagisa made sure to glare at him in response. That toned down Karma’s expression a little.
“It’s a mythical thing, first of all,” Karma corrected him, “Secondly, it’s a little more abstract than that, wise guy.”
Nagisa still didn’t see it, but he accepted the explanation for now. He wanted to ask what a sea goat was, but he did not want to be patronized again. So, he kept quiet, and looked back up at the stars. All he saw when looking at the capricorn sign was just a triangle. He wondered who ever made up these so-called drawings in the sky. Mentally, he made a note to do some research on it later.
Because it was so late, he had gotten a little tired by that point. It wasn’t like he’d done too much during the day, but he still had been awake for a rather long time. The coziness of cuddling with Karma wasn’t helping that mood. Karma had such a nice and warm body temperature, like a large, personal heater for Nagisa.
He cuddled up a little closer to Karma, resting his head on his shoulders, and grabbed ahold of Karma’s hand with his own. For a moment, time passed in silence, the two of them connected just like that, the sky full of stars watching them. Then, Karma spoke up and ruined what was once a beautiful moment.
“ewl I just realized you’re a cancer.”
Nagisa couldn’t have moved away from Karma faster, moving back so he could look his boyfriend in the eyes. Genuine disgust, that’s what he saw. He hadn’t started laughing yet. He’d better start laughing soon. Even if Nagisa didn’t think this was remotely funny, he sure as hell hoped Karma had intended it that way.
“Excuse me?!” Nagisa looked appalled at his boyfriend.
“Your zodiac,” Karma responded, still not laughing, “You’re a cancer.”
The point was, Nagisa knew that. Of course he knew his own zodiac sign. And the problem… Well, the problem was that Karma was saying it like it was a bad thing. Nagisa didn’t think it was. He didn’t see how being a specific zodiac made him a better or a worse person. Karma, however, seemed very opinionated on it, and his opinion didn’t appear to be anything Nagisa would like.
So, he just stared at him for a moment again, unsure what to say about the matter. Then, he shook his head in an attempt to organize his thoughts. He had to ask for more information. There was always a chance he was misinterpreting this. He’d better be misinterpreting it.
“I know that,” Nagisa slowly said. “Now can you tell me why that would be disgusting?”
Karma blinked. He pursed his lips as he scanned Nagisa’s face. Nagisa was sure the annoyance was clearly portrayed there. Whatever Karma was about to say next, it better be thought through very well. Karma seemed to understand that sentiment very well, considering he actually took the time to think about his words before answering the question.
“Cancers are known for being moody and emotional,” Karma finally said, “You know, like, they take stuff very personal.”
“I don’t do that.”
“You’re… literally doing it right now.”
Now, Nagisa was silenced for a moment. Surely he wasn’t making this about himself, Karma was. Karma had started by calling him out for being a cancer. Well, Nagisa himself had been the one to take the comment seriously. And, he himself had been the one to take the description to himself rather than just a stereotype Karma was explaining.
No, that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he wasn’t like that. Anyone could be emotional, given the right circumstances. Just because he reacted with a lot of passion, and the moment happened to already be about him personally, didn’t mean he was giving in to stereotypes. A zodiac didn’t define Nagisa.
“They’re also known for being gifted in understanding people’s feelings and thoughts, not too far off from your assassin skills.”
Shit, so maybe Nagisa was a little bit typical for a cancer.
“That stuff is nonsense,” Nagisa argued, “purely coincidental.”
There was a silence, followed by the sound of Karma’s laugh. Nagisa didn’t understand what was funny. What he said had been pretty logical. Whatever star sign you were born in didn’t influence who you were as a person. Nagisa would stand by that argument. Why Karma’s response to that idea was to laugh, was something only Karma could really explain.
“I never said I believed in it,” Karma simply said.
“You sure acted like it,” Nagisa pouted once more, “Your sense of humour is bad.”
Karma simply shrugged, and Nagisa figured he may as well drop the subject. At least now he knew Karma didn’t actually judge him for the day he was born. That would have been a weird argument to ruin a relationship with. He tried to release the issue with a deep sigh, and returned his eyes up to take in the wonders of the sky.
Eventually, Karma forced himself closer to him again, once again taking back the hand Nagisa had ripped away moments earlier. Nagisa let him. He, too, wanted to go back to the more romantic mood they’d been having. Soon enough, he felt like they had gone back to that, and the previous conversation was merely a past joke. The comfort of hugging his boyfriend as they looked at a pretty view made everything much better.
“For what it’s worth,” Karma whispered, “You’re my favourite cancer.”
